One day Jordan finds Capsize messing around with a flag. That's not exactly unusual for a pirate, but it doesn't look like any pirate flag he's ever seen and the colour scheme doesn't make it look like anything to do with Ianite.

He ends up asking her what it means, and Capsize raises an eyebrow and asks if he genuinely doesn't know to which Jordan affirms that he doesn't. There's a bit of a back and forth as she seems almost sure that he's joking, but when she finally realises that he is being serious she reluctantly goes to tell him. Only for Redbeard to interrupt with:

"Oh that flag represents Capsize's undying loyalty to Ianite and how she just never stops thinking about her ever."

He promptly takes off at a sprint with Capsize chasing him yelling a number of murder threats. When Capsize gets back (one murder and revival spell later) she finds that Jordan is gone, realises he definitely took Red's words as the wholehearted truth and definitely does not feel like sorting out that issue.

Tom later finds Jordan painting some very particular oranges and pinks onto his quiver, and immediately feels the need to ask what he's doing. Jordan tells him about what Redbeard said with the undying loyalty to Ianite which leds to:

"Okay, but you know that isn't actually what that flag means, right."

"No, it is. Skipper said that's why Capsize has one."

Tom proceeds to die of laughter and decides its so much funnier to not tell him.

About six months later in Ruxomar, Jordan is talking with Andor about Ianite and ends up showing the painted quiver and explaining the story. Andor, after a tiny bit of debating, decides to tell him.

"Jordan that's the lesbian pride flag."

Needless to say, Tom is killed several times that day. His defence of having tried to tell Jordan that Capsize liked women really not helping. Though, even with losing most of his stuff and his life several times, Tom stands by that it was worth it and funny.

Could you explain why idolomantises’s designs fall flat like vivs designs? Just wondering because I love hearing anything character design related lmfao

Oh me too! I could talk about character designs all day!

I think while having very different styles, idolomantises and viviziepop’s designs both suffer from characters who don’t communicate what the character is or reflect the given world building (sometimes they’d just don’t fit at all?)

Vivziepop overcompensates this by having characters with ridiculous amounts of details that usually muddys whatever the concept is, not helped by her preference for thin body types and colour scheme of “red, red and MORE RED”

idolomantises meanwhile just, goes with the most obvious and generic direction without considering any visual symbolism that one can do with more finer details, or if there is detail it doesn’t actually add anything

Sera and the angels are a good starting point here in that Sera is the one with the most obvious Angel design with rings floating (I personally think the bird and cat look more Egyptian than anything else, though that’s not an actual design issue here)

Now I will say having Sera’s eyes being in her rings while her actual face is blank is clever but besides that? They’re all just wearing very thigh revealing dresses/robes with random golden bands , the ones on their thighs has got to be painful. Sera has the worst in that her skin and clothing are the same shade of white , so her skin just blends into her outfit

Which seems very conflicting with the fact that 1) Angels/Heaven’s views are so very anti sex that they place kissing and cuddling next to kink acts

And 2) Sera is so awkward and inexperienced with sex as a concept that Lili , her wife, laughs at her for being awkward about kissing her (I also do not like Lili but I’m sticking with design criticisms for now)

“Skin tight , flowy and thigh revealing robe with thigh bracelets” does not at all communicate that about Sera’s character or her environment. I don’t think you have to dress the angels as nuns to properly communicate their anti sex views, and a little fan service isn’t entirely wrong either . I think one could easily write out the conflicting thigh lore with an excuse that angels don’t see the naked body as sinful, and thus only a sinful pervert would think exposed thighs was sexual! But from what I’ve seen that isn’t the direction idolomantises is doing

But taking inspiration from both classical paintings and modern fashion, there was more that can be done with Sera and other angels besides “put a chalk white character who is very awkward with sex in a chalk white robe that high lights her thighs!”

Giving the angels revealing designs also makes the contrast between heaven and hell weaker as both angels and demons end up having similar design elements wow that sounds kinda familiar

Ignoring my own personal feelings about her, Lili’s a decent design in that you look at her and immediately go “ah yes, sexy demon lady”, she is straight to the point

See, Lili’s design isn’t an issue until you compare her to how idolomantises draws environments in hell and how he designs other demons

[Full text: I’ll be honest here, I was so hyperfixated on the idea of an Aoba/Madoka Kaname (from Puella Magi Madoka Magica) crossover being both like siblings (like the entire whole older brother shtick where he has like a clumsy, insecure younger sister who’s secretly a girlboss deep down, who literally turned into a god in the Rebellion film).

Plus, their colour palettes/designs, schemes and all are adjacent to the Gumball/Anais (from The Amazing World of Gumball) colour palette scheme, meaning they would resemble them a bit. Their interactions would be really sweet together as I know Aoba would have this small, pink-haired fluffball of hope consistently follow him everywhere Aoba goes, and would try to get him to as he goes to Junk Shop Heibon to complete his daily working shift while Madoka just goes to school like an ordinary schoolgirl just the way she is.

Aoba sometimes comes home and buys Madoka a lesbian flag she can hang up on her wall, and makes dinner for her a lot. She introduces her girlfriend Homura to Aoba and he’s like “aww, that’s sweet.” I feel like he’d grow accustomed and fond to her, and I feel like he’d grow an ever-loving desire to protect her from falling into despair so much so that she turns into a witch.

One of the funniest things I can imagine Aoba doing is having one of his alters (Sly Blue for example), fronting and then she gets a call from him and he takes her on a little ride while Madoka brings Homura, her beloved, with her to the retail park that is extremely far away from both of their locations. He then lets them play on one of those Beatmania arcades, and he goes to the cigarette bar to get a quick smoke and to accompany his younger sister and his girlfriend, and they both win so much on the Pop'n Music arcades while they start to finish off and get ready for the bowling venues.

Sly sits on one of these chairs and watches his younger sister Madoka and her girlfriend go off at these bowls, and claps and cheers when Madoka manages to succeed at taking one of these bowling pins all in one go. And after that, Sly fronts back to Aoba, the main host of the system, and then he calls back for them to come back so they can go in there to explore the garden, town pebble streets and more amusement parks for their own excitement, so they can have pretty picture taking time.

I can imagine Aoba loving Madoka like he’s his own daughter and doing Madoka’s hairstyles every morning like crazy while on the phone trying to listen some deals that Haga-san made to him, putting small ribbon hair clips in Madoka’s hair, and making her breakfast and making sure she’s at least well fed and happy.

I want her to be happy after the shit she has gone through. My precious baby daughter. My daughter, she didn’t deserve all of this, she deserves to be all happy and to be all pain and trauma free. It’s not a matter of comparing “yaoi vs yuri” of which series is pure or fucked up or whatever. I’m not simply here to compare them. I’m here to illustrate my point cohesively that Madoka would view this mentally ill skinny 23 year old gay boy who has had a never had a good day ever in his life, and she would go “I’m going to view that man as my older brother. He seems nice.” and tries to hang around with him to try to get more information from this gay boy who has a shit ton of unresolved BPD that would end up with him being sent to a mental asylum. It’s about the potential, it’s about the silly sibling shenanigans of Madoka trying to wake her older brother up so he can take her to school. It’s him seeing that she is going down a dark path full of magical girls. Whatever. I am so mentally ill about them. Madoka Magica changed my brain fundamentally and mentally and I needed to thus propose this like crossover even further because I want to say it out loud.]

These two are SO cool. Because Guinevere (or Gwennie, as she prefers to be called) wouldn't exist without Oliver. Literally the entire world Gwennie exists in comes from a fever dream that he has while he's sick. And like, everyone in that world is representative of somebody Oliver either knows or wishes he knew in the real world. Gwennie is his sister, Stella, who died of a heart complication when she was only two, so Oliver never really got to properly meet her. Gwennie is his next best shot, created to be what he wishes she was like, or how he imagines her. And eventually they just get really close. They grow with one another. They need each other in a way that is so humanly incomprehensible. Oliver is the best he will ever be around Gwennie, and Gwennie physically cannot exist without Oliver. In a way, as soon as Oliver woke up and left his dream behind, he died along with Gwen. Because it was just a dream. He left everything she unlocked in him behind and it just ruined him and his sense of purpose. And he has no idea what happened to her, because he left her right as she became queen of her kingdom. He doesn't know if she's even still alive in that world in his head or not. And no matter how hard he's tried, he's never been able to go back. He's gotten faint glimpses, but he hasn't been able to return and it devastates him, because he just got a sister back only to lose her to his own mind. Anyways they're SO interesting and also they're really similar but they don't KNOW they're similar so they fight a lot until they have a heart-to-heart and realize they aren't so different. Also their mutual bond is so important. They won't do anything without the other, and would literally die for each other. They have like the strongest kind of familial love siblings can have for one another despite not actually being related and it's SO fucking important. I love them.

So back when I was younger I got really into Gacha Studio. I saw it in a LaurenZside video and I was like "omg that is so cool I have to try it". I made a persona (which had a trans flag colour scheme btw, even though I didn't know trans people existed back then) and I soon started watching gacha mini movies on YouTube. I was at that ripe age when a child is incredibly curious and that's unfortunately how I found out what sex is. Soon after that I found out what gay people are. I was like totally chill with it. I was like that one "ally" audio. I was like "yeah gay people are cool but that ain't me". A bit later though I learnt that there were not only lesbians and gay men and I was like "woah that's cool". I started to identify as asexual and I didn't really make a big deal out of it. I can't even remember whether I made an edit of my character holding the flag. But then I went back to thinking I'm cishet because "I have never had a crush on anyone and I'll just see when I grow up more" even though I had a crush on a girl. I unfortunately, a dumb ass, didn't recognise the feeling. It was mostly just aesthetic attraction because I thought she was so cool. I had this one book that I was absolutely obsessed with back then. I would often turn to the page she was on and just stare at how pretty she was. I felt quilty though for some reason because "what if my parents find out I'm looking at that page?" which was odd because I didn't even realise I had a crush on her. I just felt low-key quilty for looking at her for like no reason. There were like different paintings of her in the book and she wore this shiny armour and I was so enamoured. Years later, after I actually had the whole gender and attraction thing sort of figured out, I saw like a funny video about like people's first crushes and their current crushes. I was trying to remember who my first crush was and I remembered that it was probably Connor from Detroit: Become Human. Then I figured that I, actually, didn't have a crush on him. Sure, I found him aesthetically pleasing but he was just my favourite blorbo. (My first fanfiction was a self-insert fic where I shipped my character with him but that's a story for another time.) So years later, I finally realised that I didn't have a crush on him. That got me thinking. If it wasn't Connor, who could have been my first crush? Then I just thought more about it and one moment it finally hit me that it was that one girl from the book. I opened the book (100 people who made history) and looked at the page once again but this time it was sort of nostalgic. I smiled fondly at how much I grew up ever since.

Moral of the story: don't make fun of people who find it attractive when someone can speak French. Because sometimes it's because the person's first crush was Joan of Arc and it affects them to this day.

it's pretty nice. i think it's really pretty visually, but i wish it had a smaller amount of colours/a more distinct colour scheme so that it would be more recognizable. an example would be the bi flag's pink, purple, and blue, because you can immediately tell it's the bi flag, which i feel like isn't possible for the queer one.

my favourite pride flags: i really like the aro flag, lesbian flag, and the demigirl/boy flags.

I sort of have to laugh at the people who look so much into Taylor's clothing colour choices because to believe she's signaling with them is also to believe that she's somehow simultaneously bisexual and a lesbian because she uses both colour schemes a lot. If her colour choices meant anything I would think that since she is known for being very deliberate in the choices she makes she wouldn't start flagging with her clothes in that way until she settled on a label for herself. Wouldn't just keep fluctuating in between bisexual and lesbian.
