countries will be like “nooooo our birth rate is falling exponentially and it’s effecting our economy” and immigrants will be like “hey can you let us in so we can boost your economy and fill your empty jobs and raise our children here” and inevitably the country is like “the only thing worse than a large scale collapse of our population is letting foreigners live here”
#I was going to say only Western Europe + America but Japan is so xenophobic#Germany’s abysmal fucking birth rate combined with their vitriolic xenophobia#atp give up#dissolve the country again

I think actually the only way to reconcile the ace attorney japanifornia situation is to replace LA with tokyo
#sorry had this thought and it made me laugh so hard#the idea of like tokyo maintaining its public transport infrastructure and general vibes while norcal is. norcal.#the intense split of norcal residents that are like WHY IS LA/TOKYOS PUBLIC TRANSIT SO MUCH BETTER#and norcal residents that are like ‘Um Actually. bart is doing great so-‘#also just so funny to me bc Tokyo vs LA is not even close. its not even close !!!#which wojld make the norcal socal divide even insaner#which is a good thing obviously#me shrinking the map of japan flipping and transforming it until tokyo and LA match up like LOOK IT WORKS#i think this can also lead to fun situations to fix the germ-erica problem too where we put new york (and like half the east coast)#in germany/europe#bam problem solved#‘wait so was edgeworth in the us or germany?’ ‘yes’#‘how would we fit the greater tokyo area-‘ arizona and nevada become greater california next question#like im already a firm believer khurain could be in the ie if it really wanted to be#but u ever been like#even 20 miles out from tahoe in the wrong direction#perfect situation for khurain over there i prommy#anyways if u couldnt tell its almost 3am and this is still making me laugj#sorry just imagining LA being tokyo and then u like#still live in sac lmfao. can u imagine.#la is tokyo and ure stuck in a town that still believes in state of jefferson 😭😭😭😭#fuck dude norcal (actual norcal not the bay) could defffff have khurain too tbh#i feel like those posts that are like ‘localization forces u to accept khurain is just somewhere in california’ are not from cali#like i promise u accepting that wasnt that hard#those posts r still funny tho

To any Europeans reading, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.
It's for @bilal-salah0, a 22 year old Palestinian refugee who, while trying to raise funds for his family in Gaza, is facing the possibility of an imminent deportation from Germany. It might happen as early as next week, which is why his fundraiser is so urgent.
I of course encourage everyone who can to share and donate, but I especially think us Europeans, with the current and terrifying uptick in anti-immigration rhetoric and violence, have an extra responsibility of helping Bilal.
For more information on Bilal's current situation, please read this post from one of his friends.

There was record-breaking clean energy progress all around the world in 2024
"Last week, we shared the news that the U.S. government permanently closed most federal waters — more than 625 million acres — to offshore oil and gas drilling.
It’s a great way to kick off a year of more good climate action. And as the year-end data rolls in, there are even more stories of progress in fighting climate change via transitioning away from fossil fuels toward clean energy sources across the globe. In 2024...
📍 In Great Britain, wind power alone provided more electricity than ever before, and all renewables together generated around 56% of electricity.
📍 In Germany, renewables made up a record 59% of electricity generation and became the “backbone of the system” in the country.
📍 In Poland, a record 29% of its power came from renewable sources, showing great progress in a country that still heavily relies on coal.
📍 In India, the “transformative growth” of its renewable energy sector led to it surpassing 200 GW of installed capacity, making up 46% of the country’s total installed capacity.
→ Read more stories of progress for the planet"

of course i don’t want to get ahead of ourselves here but super duper rare british… w?
#eurovision#israel#i know that these numbers don’t tell you the reason behind wanting israel out so we can’t point directly#to palestine being the cause#and i also know that the original nakba wouldn’t have happened without british colonialism#but even so this is surprising#i saw in the notes that apparently british people make up the highest portion in ticket sales which is of course an L but also we are#the third largest country in europe (population wise) after russia and germany so

Thank you for defending Nazis. They're just little guys. Just misunderstood, with genuine grievances. I noticed you accidentally forgot to defend child rapists. Dumb commies like you are all the same 🙄
Piss on the poor! Also I'm not a commie and never claimed to be one.
#anyway 'Germany was hurting after WWI which allowed Hitler to rise to power'#and 'antisemitism was escalating at an alarming rate which created a very dangerous situation for Europe's Jewish population'#and 'by leaning into the antisemitism that already existed in Germany at the time Hitler was able to rapidly radicalize Germany's population#are all just like. history. ever read a world history textbook or did you sleep all through your history classes?#case in point if you're not able to identify why or how things got that bad then you're doomed to follow the same path

Germany's leading Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the opposition Christian Democratic Party (CDU) have ordered high schools in Berlin's borough of Neukolln to distribute brochures titled The Myth of Israel #1948. [...] Neukolln is one of Berlin's most diverse and international boroughs with a large Palestinian community. [...] The brochure states there are five "myths" around the creation of the state of Israel, which are subsequently refuted in short essays by various authors. In the first section, debunking myth #1, that Jews and Arabs lived together in peace before Israel was founded, Israel's pre-state militia, the Haganah, responsible for the destruction of 531 Palestinian villages and the expulsion of 700,000 Palestinians between December 1947 and the summer of 1948, is promoted as a merely "defensive" Jewish resistance movement. Under 'Myth #2: Israel was established on stolen Palestinian land', Masiyot states that the acquisition of land by Jewish immigrants to Palestine took the form of a legal exchange of capital for an official title deed. At no point in history was land illegally conquered by Jewish immigrants, the author of the text, Michael Spaney, claims. Even land conquered following the wars of 1948 and 1967 and the subsequent construction of settlements, which are internationally recognised as a violation of international law, did not occur unlawfully, it says. "Anyone who uses the accusation of land theft as an argument demonises Israel and denies its legitimacy, i.e. acts out of antisemitic motives," Spaney wrote. "Myth #5: Israel is to blame for the Nakba", includes a text by researcher Shany Mor titled "the UN is distorting the meaning of the Nakba: its view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is extremely one-sided". In the text, Mor states that "displacement during war - then and now - was nothing unusual". He also labels the UN's attention to the Palestinian cause "obsessive" and the Arab defeat of 1948 a myth.

Some devastating facts about abortion rights in Europe:
Polish abortion laws lay out that the rights of a foetus are more important than those of pregnant persons.
In Malta, women are sent to prison if they get an abortion.
In Austria, abortion is written into criminal code - this means it is considered a crime if it is not carried out as by the law. Doctors in Austria use papayas to learn how to perform an abortion.
Women in Hungary are forced by the law to listen to “the foetal heartbeat” before they can have an abortion.
The current law governing abortions in Germany was accepted during the Nazi regime. It is still referred to as “the Nazi law” by some movements.
In Italy, 80% of doctors refuse to perform an abortion. Plus, the government is financing movements that enter abortion clinics and harrass women who want to get an abortion.
Abortion rights in Europe are fragile. Sign our initiative to make abortion safe and accessible to everyone in the EU.
