Wizards and paladins are my favorite classes because of the built in story elements that clearly shape the characters, but also because, on some level, if a character isn't, to quote Jonas Spahr, "arrogant, prideful, and sanctimonious" what is even the point.

#in case you did not notice the person whose favorite vm characters are vex and percy is into this #like. hubris is one of the most ANCIENT fatal flaws explored in western literature. and this is because it's wicked sexy #like. the thing that attracts me to the badass older woman archetype isn't ooooh she's so cool and good at everything and always right #competence is great but you need some grit to grab onto. it's the insecurity and inability to ask for help due to pride that's the fun part #insecurity isn't sexy unless the vulnerability is hidden beneath a highly arrogant shell and that's that on that #anyway this too is downfall anticipation
