Hi I hope you take no offense to this but with your recent adopted Damian au with the female penguin not accepting their proposal and Bruce telling Damian they don't have to and they'll (the male penguin) find someone else to love.
I know that you don't ship Brutalia and Selina is in the background of one of the adopted Damian au episodes (plus this is your work and you can do whatever you want) but I was stalking your posts and I saw that an user said in an ask that Talia faked a miscarriage because Bruce was putting himself in danger so Talia hid the miscarriage to protect him so I don't feel it was valid to say or insinuate that Talia didn't "accept" his proposal because they were happy together in your au at one point since they had Damian's nursery set up together, and Talia left her relationship with Bruce to protect him and Damian.
You don't have to really respond to this since you already said Brutalia won't be in this series. I hope I didn't offend you or come off as rude
no offence taken lol! The penguins weren't supposed to represent Talia and Bruce's exact relationship ( though, if there was a way for penguins to develop that complex of a relationship, that would be amazing) , but simply setting up for a larger conversation down the road.
Also, I'm not that great of a writer. This project is just very disorganized and the pacing could be better, etc. etc. So I might accidentally imply something I didn't mean to ig idk.
Also Also, I have no idea what Selina's and Bruce's relationship is in this comic lol. Just that they are close. Maybe just as friends, dating, fwb, idk. Just kinda up to you on how you want them to be. There is light Brutalia, but I mostly ship them in a way where they were very much in love, but grew apart. I honestly kind ship it more than BatCat. But again, idk lol.
Light spoilers past this point if you care.
Basically, Bruce and Talia weren't exactly dating when Damian was conceived. While training in the League, Bruce did want to have a solid future with Talia, and so did she, but they were both too dedicated to their separate cause to compromise. Talia was still very loyal to her father while Bruce was loyal to Gotham. So they decided to split.
It was rough at first, since they were still very much in love. But it kinda developed into a long distance sorta dating sorta friends with benefits. Idk it's hard to explain. Basically, they loved each other, but understood that they were on different paths, but enjoyed the other's company all the same.
After the miscarriage, Bruce tried to reach out several times, but Talia ghosted him out of guilt. As you could imagine, that drove a wedge between them. And slowly they just fell out of love.
Of course this would be hard to explain to Damian's baby brain and they don't really want Damian to "pick a side" since it's a very grey area. So they'll simplify it. Sometimes people fall out of love. Sometimes people reject your pebble. And that's okay. It doesn't mean that either of them love him any less or more than the other.
Idk, that's kinda what I'm going for lol
#thank you for the ask!!#batman#adopted damain au#brutalia#this is so fucking rambling feel free to ignore

ik they probably meant catwoman, ivy or harley but like....when they say batman loves kissing his "most villainous opponents" that's kind of implying characters like twoface, scarecrow, penguin, joker...cause like...catwoman and harley aren't even villains anymore lmao and neither is ivy so "his most villainous opponents" are almost exclusively men...which could mean nothing
youre onto something... ignore the batcat wedding covers theyre talking about and we have something real here

Detective Comics # 1089
I love how respectful the issue is about Talia and Bruce but I hate how there is a finality to it. As if it is living in nostalgia. I guess, I have always viewed their love in Talia's perspective and not Bruce. Because just as this issue implied, Talia is not the only one who lost their soul mate...
And this is more true with the story still teases on the possible BatCat situation, (still wishes he goes poly, coz it's perfect for him).
Like all his love interests is a situation of 'wrong place, wrong time'. And both is doomed coz Lady Gotham will never be safe...it would never be over.
Coz fr, Gotham is the OTL of Batman, and she has him on a chokehold, lol.
One of these days, if Lady Gotham got personified and have her own gijinka by DC Comics, then it is over for any shipping battles in this fandom, lol.
Oh right, there is one.
Of course, they'll make the city an ugly gargoyle hobgoblin, coz it would be an end game if they make the city a woman XD

Batman Ninja (2018) Ridorā Kitsune - G - Words: 2,830 When Penguin is brought with several others to ancient Japan by an experiment gone wrong, he has a wealth of things to concern him. The batcat proposal 💍
Fun fact: Batman bought the diamond that Catwoman stole when they met on the boat (Batman #1 1940). Plus, it is implied in that issue that he let Selina escape.
He bought the diamond and set it in a ring. From their first meeting, Bruce knew he and Selina were destined. Yeah, over the decades, they've had disagreements and even other love interests, but they always come back to each other.

if you're curious: the pedophile implication comes into play a bit after the main events of Twojar (I don't remember the issue, sorry) when it is revealed that the people Ivy murdered during the event weren't actually killed by her but by Riddler who had gaslit her into believing she killed them. Ivy is written as having been swayed by his charms in a decidedly romantic or sexual way, with him even draping his arm around her shoulders if I remember correctly and the reason she was so naive as to believe him was heavily implied to be that she was a barely-legal young girl being taken advantage of by a big strong grown man with him being the catalyst that turned her into Ivy in the first place, essentially placing him in the role of Dr. Woodrue.
and all of this is brought up because Ivy has a mental breakdown about having killed people for Riddler during Twojar, with Batman consoling her by telling her that she is still innocent and pure and in fact has never killed anyone at all, the misogyny of that plot twist is revolting
Thank you, Anon! To be honest, I find Tom King's writing more boring than offensive, and I dropped his run after twojar ended. He opened the next issue with Bruce and Selina neglecting a horse to death in the desert, and I was not about to suffer through anything involving Talia from Mr. Tom " I worked for the CIA" King.
This Ivy stuff is so typical from him, too. I know his BatCat stuff has its fans , but I could never stomach the way he writes women. The funny thing is that he is not even an overt misogynist or anything like that. He is just a one trick pony, and if the character is not " sad ex-soldier tortured by the images of war," he can rarely do it justice.
Also, lmao. When I complain about King gutting Riddler from all of his flair and making him a generic, unreasonably cruel, violent guy with no limits or real motivations besides being horrifically evil and murderous to the point of becoming absurd, this is the type of stuff I am talking about.

What do you think are the biggest issues with modern dickbabs
It values Dick more than Babs. This benefits him and keeps him in the batfamily. That’s one of the main reasons as if just because he could be with someone who doesn’t have bat in their name could ruin everything as if he wasn’t a founder. Dick benefits more from having a “cool girlfriend” than she does having a boyfriend. And it’s clear. She loses her personality and her independence. She’s less because of him. They literally won’t have her commit cybercrimes anymore. Remember when she would like blackmail politicians and shit because she had access to every computer? DC doesn’t cause know she feels bad hacking into someone’s computer because they might be innocent or whatever. “It’s kinda illegal” girl shut up I saw you with a sniper.
It really feels like he’s their self-insert for people to date Babs who is also currently very boring. But like a “cool” self-insert protagonist shut. Like I get my own Hogwarts house because I’m also the Avatar and wield seven lightsabers. Except powerless cause it’s Dick, but you know the energy.
But also not to forget that people also attach the erasing of Babs disability to this because “disabled women aren’t as hot” when you aren’t supposed to be the one attracted to her. Dick is!
It’s forced. Like right now, they are forcing it to work. And forcing it to be iconic. Honestly I had the chance to be iconic before they were like “if you love cloud and batcat, you love dickbabs” and I don’t. This actually turned into reverse psychology because you made them feel less interesting by comparing them to couples that had decades of proving how iconic they are.
Again on more than one earth, their love has to be this amazing powerful thing but most of the time I’m being told that than shown that. One of my biggest problems is actually the DC vs Vampires Elseworld. Dickbabs ruined it. It was the stake through the heart. The whiny “I can’t kill him I love him” after he’s destroyed the ENTIRE WORLD. Because we had to do that jealousy mind control with dickkory.
Although speaking of Kory, this isn’t that new, but remember his intergalactic xenophobia with Starfire???? God that was dumb. I don’t even care if it’s about his personal problems and dependency on Dick. It was fucking weird. Actually it’s weirder with dickbabs because that implies he views her as a method of enabling his dependency.
But on our Earth there is also this constant need to make Dick’s other relationships lesser and right now Babs’ seem nonexistent. Like she dated other men. Including Ted Kord. Are they ever going to mention that again, probably not because somehow it dampens the “first love, only love” thing if she showed the slightest bit of affection to another man. But back to Dick. This constant need downplays Bea, Kory, Shawn, and more. I feel like right now these are the most affected. The complete overhaul of Bea’s character to make her relationship with Dick disingenuous. On both ends. Retconning that Dick started to fall in love with her but said he didn’t to protect her because she was normal. And then she comes back a pirate queen but any feelings he did have were obviously meaningless because Babs exists. It’s just…..so bad.
It’s so fucking boring. Not because it’s happy but because it’s shit right now. All of this is shit. And it all comes from the fact their relationship is too easy and safe. Because it’s easy and safe writers get lazy. Now it doesn’t have to be lazy. But it is. It’s just “they were Robin and batgirl so they have to be together and get married while having a bland dynamic and have bland kids whose entire identities revolve around their parents being batgirl and Robin and their names are going to be Jim/James and Mary because what else would it be” sorry but I hate the trope of naming kids after people. Or like all of them specifically. Like you couldn’t come up with anything? Especially in Barbara’s case after she became Barbara Gordon the daughter of Jim and Barbara Gordon and sister of Jim Gordon. It’s not always together but pick up a damn baby naming book/website.
Easy and safe makes it easier to be lazy and to not take any risks. It’s a risk to involve Bea or civilian girlfriends with the bare. Therefore it’s too hard even though people actually liked her. It’s too difficult to have Kory interact with the batfamily so she barely will. Shawn doesn’t work because I didn’t feel like trying. Go back to Babs, you don’t have to try at all. They are consistently not trying because of the safety net. But baby, you’re writing, it’s not the fall of the flying Graysons if you put a little effort in. Even into Babs. It’s like they’re not trying anymore.
Maybe Dick shouldn’t be with anyone lmaooo. I am on team DickDiesAlone and Babs with anyone else.

Batfic - "Batman and Robbin'"
Category: Gen, F/M Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Characters/Relationships: Stephanie Brown & Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown/Tim Drake, Tim Drake & Bruce Wayne & Alfred Pennyworth, mentioned Selina Kyle Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Stephanie Brown is Spoiler, (but also Catwoman's sidekick), Tim Drake is Robin, Pre-Relationship, (i guess? genuinely not sure how to tag their relationship), (steph is flirting via mildly bullying tim in costume and tim isn't NOT secretly into it), (he's also very annoyed), (so really not that different than the grown-up BatCat interactions), implied Bruce/Selina as well but too minor for me to tag it, POV Tim Drake, Rated T for some swearing (because unlike comics I am allowed to do that)
Summary:
It wasn’t until much later, back in the Cave, that Tim actually put everything together. In which Robin has his first run-in with Catwoman's new sidekick and is infuriated and embarrassed and definitely not even a little bit impressed.
It had been a relatively quiet evening by Gotham standards, one of those nights where they were trying to track down a particular target and prevent a disaster rather than waiting for something to pop up for them to deal with. They were looking for a man they’d only heard referred to with the unhelpfully vague name of “Big Joe” who seemed to have a hand in what they were pretty sure was an incoming weapons shipment that would be much better off diverted out of the hands of Gotham mobsters, but crime fighting in Gotham meant always assuming something would happen to draw them off track.
This time that “something” was a flash of purple spotted vaulting neatly between buildings near the edge of the Diamond District, two things that immediately suggested a very specific individual up to something nefarious.
Unfortunately, they had just gotten a more direct lead on “Big Joe”, which meant they were going to have to split focus, and as much as Robin was sure Batman would love to spend the rest of his night chasing down Catwoman (or whatever else he might get up to, Robin emphatically did not want details and was not asking), they needed him focused on their actual target. He might be grumpy at losing out on a chance to flirt with her, but he would be a lot grumpier if they lost their shot at stopping a dangerous shipment from getting into even more dangerous hands.
“I’ll check it out,” Robin offered before Batman could suggest otherwise, veering off without waiting for an answer. Batman just grunted an affirmative and kept moving towards their original target. (Robin was choosing to take that as Batman having faith in his ability to handle things. It wasn’t like Catwoman was that dangerous. Comparatively. Probably. He totally had this.)
After a couple of blocks of rooftop running, Robin did catch up to someone in a purple suit, but it wasn’t Catwoman, and she had apparently stopped to wait for him.
“False alarm, B, it’s just that Spoiler kid again,” he muttered into his radio. Given how adamant she had been about joining them, they had sort of expected another run-in at some point, but this was the first they had actually seen her since the whole Cluemaster mess had ended in him losing his score and getting arrested. (They were guessing she had had some part in that, but since there was no actual evidence and she seemed to have gone quietly back to her civilian life since then it had gone on the backburner in terms of investigation. Apparently that had been a mistake.)
She had changed her costume, Robin realized as he got closer. It was similar, with the purple suit and the black boots and gloves, but it looked a little sleeker and she had ditched the cape. She still had the full face mask with the large white eyes, and the hood, but it was now held it place by two black points sticking through it that looked an awful lot like ears.
He snapped out his staff as he approached, just in case, holding it ready but not in an offensive position quite yet. This didn’t have to be a fight, and he was sort of hoping it wouldn’t be, but he was not explaining another brick to the head to Batman. He was ready this time.
“Took your time, there, roadrunner,” she said.
“You shouldn’t be out here,” he said with as much authority as he could muster.
“And yet here I am!” Spoiler said cheerfully, looking rather infuriatingly unthreatened as she sat perched on a chimney stack, one leg crossed over the other and kicking back and forth idly.
“I’m serious,” Robin tried again, gritting his teeth a bit and tightening his grip on his staff.
“Oh, I know you are, bird boy.” Spoiler hopped off of her perch and sauntered towards him. “Thing is, if your big bad Bat-daddy-”
“Oh my god, no,” Robin said in horror; Spoiler acted like he hadn’t said anything.
“-couldn’t scare me off I’m not sure why you think you,” she leaned forward into his space, “in your cute little tights are gonna do it.”
Robin wished, briefly but fiercely, that he had a full face mask to cover the fact that he was definitely blushing. Maybe it was dark enough that it wasn’t completely obvious? Hopefully? He couldn’t see Spoiler’s expression but from her body language, the way her head was tipped to one side, it was all too easy to imagine her smirking at him.
As surreptitiously as possible, he took a deep breath to recenter himself.

alley cats
by okeatingmycaptain There's a new crime syndicate in Gotham - one that's using kids to sell drops across the city. Velma is one of those kids. She's been working with the family for three years, finding out their inner workings and making her way up through the ranks. Teo is the syndicate's next target. They want him to do their dirty work - but what they don't know is that Teo has a couple of not-quite heroes on his side that are willing to do anything to keep him out of the family. Selina Kyle has returned to Gotham, and taken on a new name. Catwoman is Batman's on-again-off-again partner, both as vigilantes and as people. She's taken over Gotham's East Side, running her operation and getting kids off the streets. Jason Todd never became the Red Hood. At least, not in the way everyone thinks. Since returning from the dead, he's worked with Catwoman as the vigilante duo tries to keep Crime Alley kids out of trouble and protected. He's also managed to keep himself a secret from everyone who knew him before his death, but when one of Batman's child soldiers gets kidnapped by the syndicate, he finds himself closer to his almost-father than he's comfortable with. it's less moments and more the gestalt really? and also it's in general more of a gay thing and less of a bi thing
early comics just didn't have women in them for the most part. obviously that causes unintended homoeroticism
especially when even the writers themselves are annoyed by the women they introduce to make things less gay, so they make Batman and Robin run away as fast as possible, inadvertently making them seem more gay
Batman wears what's really more comparable to fetish gear than any other type of clothing. not bisexual necessarily but certainly queer and associated with the gay community
so Batman and Robin are longstanding gay icons
the Joel Schumacher version is intentionally gay
the BtAS voice actor, being gay, imparted to Batman a voice that sounds gay to most queer people
the Adam West show was incredibly campy
many Batman villains are campy in a way that's historically and presently read as queer. the Riddler is even canonically bisexual now! so tension that Batman has with them is often sexually loaded in a way it's not with all hero-villain drama
noir protagonists always seem a little bi anyway amirite
when people talk about World's Finest being about two dads and their son, they're not wrong. Robin's relationship with Superman is markedly similar to parental relationships in most children's adventure stories, which to the modern audience implies a marriage partnership for superbat
it's not only a moment with Khoa. the entire Khoa arc is intentionally written in a way that wouldn't be questioned as romantic-sexual if he were a woman. this is so that DC couldn't tell him his self-insert wasn't allowed to fuck Batman
if you take Lex Luthor as gay - that's a whole different essay - a lot of his tension and overtures at friendship/teamups with Bruce seem like flirting, and Bruce seems kind of into it
altho of course BatCat has always been popular and is becoming more canonicalized, Batman's never had a 'canonical' love interest the way most superheroes (and most male protagonists in general, tbh) have from the outset. instead, most of the narrative role filled by that character was usually filled by Robin
the whole 'rich or gay' and 'european or gay' thing
Alfred is canonically queer in some continuities, and implied queer in other continuities. given how much Bruce wants to take after Alfred and looks up to him, it's easy to read that he wants to be out and proud in the same way
a lot of people like to cite Tim telling Bruce it's hard to figure out you're bi when you're a superhero, and Bruce responding that he totally gets that
many of Bruce's canonical love interests (women) he intentionally tries to get out of dates and sex with them to go do Batman things. sometimes for months on end. so Bruce is known to buy women lavish presents but then never fuck them
there are genuinely a lot of moments with Dick and/or Jason getting ready to go places with Bruce that are like. is this written to be like date prep on purpose???
Batman keeps being on Pride variant covers. like it makes sense because they're Batman comics, but still, all the other characters he shows up with are canonically queer
basically all satire/parody Batmans are explicitly gay
Are there any canonical moments that imply Bruce is bisexual? Apart from the Minhkhoa moment?
every single breath that man takes in canon is vaguely bisexual
