He can tell the Compass is still watching, but... maybe its the lack of visible eyes that helps? He can still feel all the other eyes on him as he eats, but while creamy the unusual gift is not quite as messy as the others so far... not that he doesn't still keep up his current eating habits.

Are the different factions embroiled in some sort of central conflict?

Open Inbox Time

There is no ongoing formal war between them, although they (generally) all see each other more as threats than allies. This tension turns into battles on the regular between the six factions, to the point that nearly all possible match ups have been expended at some point in history. They sometimes clash over the use of great and powerful mysterious objects.

They primarily clash over who is to rule Theia and how ultimately her people should live their lives. Some, like the Horde and Emerald, strive for equality and a leaderless society; some believe it should be left well enough alone so long as territories are respected, like Sapphire; some are isolationist and care only for their own problems, like Rosegold; some are mad with their own power and want to rule it all themselves, like Amethyst; and some are… well, capitalists, like Topaz.

The consequences of death are a little less dire in this world; should a monster die on their own territory, they will be reborn within a period of time corresponding to the damage done to their bodies (from days to months), and there are explicit afterlives that reward and punish in (usually) appropriate ways. If a monster dies outside their territory, however, they almost always stay dead– so perma-death definitely is a real consequence during the frequent conflicts.

The following factions would consider themselves enemies:

Sapphire | Topaz

Ore | Rosegold

Amethyst | Everyone Else

Whereas there is only one real formal alliance:

Ore | Emerald

But indeed, it becomes apparent over time that there are bigger things at work and that the monster factions must unite. Due to the egos at play, this proves to be difficult.

Even then he's prone to nightmares so it depends really. I like to think that Hook needs something to HOLD onto whilst he sleeps, be it an extra pillow or object etc, just something to feel safe in.

Its why I think he doesn't sleep in a big grand bed in his cabin, its pretty simple for how extravagant he seems to like it in his quarters. It seems rather cocooned.

I feel like Owl doesn’t drink, so this answer is for Nil.

If only I actually had some fun fantasy crops with which to ferment fantasy alcohol.  And I plan on doing that world building ~sometime~, but characters and story are taking priority.

So bear with me.

I imagine, if you want to consider other factions different countries by virtue of being different floating landmasses in a world full of floating landmasses…. I would say that Emerald Commune has the best booze. Beer specifically.  

There is a brewery location in Emerald, Workhop Brewery.  The owner sells mostly his own brews made on the location, as well as wines from wineries elsewhere in Emerald.

Nil is a wine mom, so she prefers the Emerald Commune wines.  But should she be in the mood for beer, she knows Emerald is the best choice.

"I met a new friend, a big, burly woman, who loves to fight. Sparring is a sort of cultural thing for her, and, after talking to her for a little bit, I offered to spar. I don't know what got into my head, but I can't fight her! She's ten feet tall. Look at me. I need to figure out a way to get out of this."

I think the most annoying trope with Aliens in science fiction, is having Aliens so “morally superior” to us.

Honestly, most of the time when you see this, it’s the writer expression his/her own misanthropy.

But, seriously, why would you think Aliens would be any better than humanity? Who's to say, they won’t just be “Viking Raiders” coming to rape, pillage and kill. Or, Imperialistic conquerors, who wish to exploit us and suppress our identity? Or theocratic crusaders desring to spread their Religion(s) across the stars, by force. Or they could be coming to take our collective lunch money.

Then again, all the same, they could just be decent people wanting to say hello. They could be friendly. They could be just wanting to be friends. I would personally hope for that.

But to my original point, I hate when writers paint aliens as “morally superior saviors”. Saviors from space who simply parrot the self-loathing of the writer. I just find that rather tiring.

Holy shit, I just GOTTA know them all! The settings, the characters, the dynamics, and especially the leaders in power. I am really drawn to the personal stories and the conflicts I've seen so far. Even if I'm not interacting, I'm hyped to see posts from them that build their world more and more. Not to mention I just absolutely adore their designs and colors. I look forward to the day you release some kind of story outline or summary, canon or RP, as I can't get over how drawn I am to this world.

What drew you to my OC?

I’ll take that as a hell of a compliment considering Monster Drama is a shambling Frankenstein’s monster of a couple dozen dead previous projects stitched together. It’s basically just me going, “the kids that had sprawling edgy melodramatic rps with their half-demon, half-angel, half-vampire ocs need something with a similar vibe but all grown up”. The audience is niche but I figured it had to be out there.

1. I'm trying to make this blog somewhat esoteric and minimalist, but i would like to think that, interpersonally, i dont take myself seriously at all. im very open to communication, as i know i kid around a lot, and that often comes at a risk of miscommunication. this is all a way of saying i dont get super angry

2. i get a little annoyed when i encounter untagged, open NSFW stuff on my dash. i lurk a LOT on mobile, and often I'll be in public. it's not exactly an "rp" pet peeve, but its definitely gotten me weird looks.

nil’d want to chomp guy because smells like icky fire.  do not recommend an encounter unless he fancies being a squeaky toy.

Ruixiong - I remember once a joke about Rui annoying Nil.  I was going to comment about Nil being a candidate for a solo relationship, but it kinda just vanished from my brain til now lol.  As to if that will ultimately be a -positive- relationship remains to be seen. 

But an interesting thing with Nil is that she has running themes of pride.  And Nil, more than some others, is drawn to others who share themes with her.  Being as said before, a -prideful- fairy, she sees herself as an authority on everything that she aligns herself with (like ice, metal and pride ((or ahem “demanding appropriate respect” as she’d call it)) as a concept).  Nil has an ego, but being one of the strongest in Theia, she can at least back it up.  And as well, for a fairy, she’s actually somewhat reasonable and isn’t gonna go for the throat off the bat if disrespected.. usually. 

Rui would have an advantage of “ah, this one is like me” to start with to protect him from total bitch mode.  But I honestly can’t say how well they’re going to get along in practice lol

Morfa - Owl is a good starting character for most muses to meet.  She’s very friendly, will approach readily and is knowledgeable about how Sapphire works.�� Funnily enough, she loves moths and butterflies (she even has a luna moth motif).  Owl is probably the easiest monster to befriend out of the entire cast to the point that, if she meets you, you’re already a friend with no additional effort.  So if what you want is a creature who won’t try to eat Morfa and actually be helpful, Owl is the one to go to in Sapphire.
