You know what I find cute in immortals fenyx rising, is when Athena told Fenyx that Aphrodite told her she kill the monster that Typhon unleashed from Tartarus, and Fenyx in response tell Athena that she’s glad the two of them are talking. To which Athena says that she’s something, but at the same time she still acknowledge that Aphrodite is her sister-in-law and that she “love” her.
That is so cute, I can’t believe that despite the myth portraying them as hostile to each other. Immortals managed to make these two secretly care for each other, and when I saw the two of them chat with each other it was even cuter.
When Athena recognised that she’s been treating Aphrodite really badly and that she managed to find it in her heart to forgive her, Athena was super sweet to help her show the world she’s more than beautiful. To which that sweet moment was ruined when Aphrodite propose a makeover, and that’s where Athena draw the line.
But there’s still no denying that they have the sweetest sister bond in that game🥰

hey! just wanna know, how do you feel about hellenism related media? do you like something?
Hey, Nonny, thanks for the ask! I appreciate that you're curious about my opinion.
Personally, I don't engage with modern media about the gods much. I've had people tell me about it, and I've read about it, but there's a lot of stuff out there that I haven't really interacted with. I try not to be too judgemental, although I used to be a lot more critical of how modern media depicts the gods, but it's still not something I often enjoy. As a worshipper, my opinion is always bound to be biased, but I try my best to judge modern media for its story-telling rather than its accuracy (although that doesn't always happen, if I feel the depictions are egregious enough).
Below, I'll state my thoughts and opinions on the media I have interacted with (or at least have heard extensively about which is the case for Percy Jackson, as I haven't read the books).
I did like the Hades game! I felt it was really fun to play through, and as a game, it kept me engaged. I genuinely had fun with the game mechanics and the relationships you can build with other characters. It has its flaws, but so does every game. I've recently heard some grumbling about the way it depicts Greek mythology, but honestly, I think that if people are basing all of their knowledge of Greek mythology on a video game, it's up to natural selection at that point (this is a joke).
Along with Hades, I did find myself enjoying Immortals: Fenyx Rising. I was surprised with how similar the gameplay was to Genshin Impact, actually, but I'm not gonna talk about that lol. Fenyx isn't as widely known, but the way it handles Greek mythology is adequate and intriguing. The characters are pretty fun, and I enjoyed helping them in their main quest. The twist at the end (I will not spoil it) rubbed me kind of the wrong way, but I understood that it's just a game trying to tell a story, you know? It was fun, engaging, and interesting. Oh, and the monsters were pretty cool! I loved how they included monsters that you wouldn't really expect to see. The Hydra was a bit underwhelming to me, though.
Then there's the God of War series. Listen, I LOVED the recent additions to God of War that centered on the Norse pantheon - beautiful graphics, interesting story-telling, and a fun use of the mythology - but the original games that take place in Greece kind of bothered me. Mostly, yes, it was the representation of the gods. The way pretty much all of them were villainized (and the way they did Hermes so, so dirty, imo 💀) was a bit comical and strange to me. It felt like it lacked nuance to their characters (even Aphrodite was kind of there for one main "purpose" if you catch my drift). I also wasn't too big on the character designs of all the gods. Some were interesting, but others didn't land for me (mostly Hermes; he looks like he should be Apollo or Helios, and I just don't understand what they were trying to do with his design). Overall, it's a VERY fun series, but I find myself not being able to enjoy the original games as much because of their depictions of the gods.
Other forms of media (that are more popular), however, aren't really my thing. Percy Jackson isn't something I'm too big on. It plays into a lot of harmful tropes about the gods, and unfortunately, I've had some bad experiences with the more disrespectful side of the fandom. Not every PJO fan is an asshole, though (most aren't), which is extremely important to keep in mind (I see a lot of hate in the HelPol community towards them sometimes, so that's why I say that). I felt the plots were creative, for sure, but I didn't like the way Rick handled some topics or the way he sort of twisted the mythology for his own purposes. Like, some of these major plots throughout the series are absolutely bizarre; they make certain gods out to be massive assholes, tbh. Also, I didn't like the way Rick stated that the Greek gods "left the dangerous Mediterranean"; it just felt like a really weird and uncomfortable way to refer to Greece. I think if Percy Jackson brings new people into HelPol, then that's great, but people definitely shouldn't base their knowledge of Greek mythology on the books which is something I've unfortunately seen happen. If you enjoy the series, that's cool; it's just not my cup of tea, personally.
I think the one piece of modern media about the gods that I genuinely hate - and I really do mean hate - is Lore Olympus. That shit has harmed even the pagan community which is kind of wild. I've literally had people call me an "Apollo sympathizer" for worshipping a god who is NOTHING like the damn comic. It is an extremely disrespectful representation of the gods and mythology, and it's something that gets under my skin quite a lot. And honestly, it doesn't need to happen with the Greek gods. If you took the characters out of the setting they're in and placed them somewhere else, it wouldn't really change much, in my opinion; the Greek mythology part of it is really just used for the dramatics. It doesn't have much to do with Greek mythology besides just wanting to make Persephone and Hades the main focus. I have other complaints about it, but I will save my Lore Olympus critique for another day lol. I could go on forever about what bothers me.
-
I hope this answered your question thoroughly! Feel free to ask more if you're curious about anything else. Have a great day/night. ☺️🧡
#anon asks#answered asks#please remember this is my OPINION#like please don't attack me for this lol#you're more than welcome to enjoy something that i can't

Deity Deep Dive: Atalanta – Fast, Furious, and Feral
Welcome to Deity Deep Dive! Today we’re exploring the Hero Atalanta. So, anyone who watches our HeathenGaming YouTube channel(HeathenGamingNG) knows where this is coming from, but for those of you who don’t, you should check it out cuz it’s a fun time, we have started playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising. It’s a story about an Argonaut named Fenyx, and the game references many myths and characters from Greek mythology. I’ve been comparing it to actual mythology the entire time and when things I’m not familiar with get referenced I write it down to look up later. This is the first rabbit hole I’ve gone down from it! The first thing I had no idea about was the name Atalanta. Fenyx finds the axe of Atalanta in the tutorial. Since my research I have a huge issue with this, and I’ll explain why after I tell you about Atalanta herself. There are two variations of her myths, one where she’s from Arcadia, the daughter of King Iasus and Clymene, and one where she’s from Boeotia and is the daughter of King Schoeneus. Some scholars think these may be two completely different Atalanta’s, but the myths don’t make any mention about differences. Atalanta was abandoned and left to die upon birth, her father wanted a son and felt she was worthless. A she-bear found her and since the cubs had been killed by hunters the grieving mother took in the abandoned newborn, nursing her until the same hunters found the girl and started raising her themselves. I found a couple things that said Atalanta stayed with the bear, but most said she was found and taken in by a group of hunters. She grew up to be one of the best among the hunters. An Oracle told her marriage would be her undoing, so she devoted herself to Artemis and vowed celibacy. She had great archery skills, and even killed two centaurs who tried to rape her with a bow and arrow. Her skills were so great that she is often placed on the Argo, with Jason. Some accounts say she helped get the Golden Fleece, others put her in only the battle of Colchis, and some say Jason told her she couldn’t come for fear of a woman on board causing issues between the men. It is widely accepted that she won a wrestling match against Peleus at the funeral games of King Pelias. One of the main myths she’s a part of is the Calydonian Boar Hunt. King Oeneus forgot to offer Artemis' sacrifice at an annual celebration to honor the Gods. Artemis sent the Calydonian boar as punishment. She was included in the Argonaught exposition to slay the boar, though only because Meleager wanted to have an affair with her. She drew first blood, but Meleager dealt the final blow. As a reward for her efforts Meleager gifted her the hide, but his uncles felt it inappropriate and dishonorable. They tried to take her prize from her, and Meleager killed them. In anguish for her now dead brothers, Meleager’s grief ridden mother ended his life as well. Her second myth is about a foot race. After the boar hunt, she made her way back to her father. Finally willing to accept her he told her she had to pick a suiter. She agreed but wanted potential suiters to make a bet with her first. They were to race her, if the suitor won, she would marry him, if she won Atalanta killed him. Her father agreed to her terms. Many tried and lost their lives. She even hindered herself by wearing full armor and giving the men a head start, and still she always won. Hippomenes (or Milanion) asked Aphrodite for something to help him win Atalanta’s hand in marriage. The Goddess gave him three golden apples, which he dropped during the race to distract Atalanta, causing her to lose. After they wed, Hippomenes forgot his obligation to give an offering to Aphrodite. The angry Goddess filled the couple with lust and passion, causing them to make love right where they were. This normally wouldn’t be an issue, but they were unfortunately at a shrine, or something of the sort. Some say it was for Zeus, others say Rhea, and more say Cybele, and I even found someone who thought maybe Artemis was angry with Atalanta for breaking the vow of celibacy. I like the idea of it being Cybele, because whichever one it was turned the newlyweds into lions, and Cybele has many associations with lions. Now, this is a weird little fact, but it fits into the story. Apparently scholars think the Greeks thought lions couldn’t mate with each other... They thought lions and leopards mated... but that mentality is why Atalanta and Hippomenes being turned into lions was seen as a curse. I did read something from someone who thinks of it as more of a blessing for them though, a way to escape gender stereotypes. Either way, they got turned into lions by some God or Goddess. Somewhere along the way Atalanta is said to have had a son, Parthenopaeus. He is known to be one of the seven who fought against Thebes after King Oedipus died. His father is unknown, his placement in her lifetime partially depends on who his father is. Atalanta abandoned him in the same place she was, trying to hide the evidence she was no longer a virgin. He was found by a shepherd and a son of Heracles named Telephus, who was also abandoned by his parents. I’m super excited to see how they portray Atalanta later in the game. She’s eventually going to be a boss battle, and I’m curious how they handled the rest of her myths since they use an axe as her representing weapon. Also, I realize I probably should differentiate Deities and Heroes, but for now this just goes in with the other Deity Deep Dives. I like alliteration. Did any of you know about Atalanta before now? Am I missing anything? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Read the full article

Immortals Fenyx Rising Headcanons
Fenyx has a burn scar on her chest from when she was struck by Zeus’ lightning
Actually, she’s covered in scars from her time on the Golden Isle, but the lightning scar is by far her least favorite because of how tender and painful it is. she Still gets random jolts of pain from time to time
Athena is secretly a huge mama bird, but Only to Fenyx (and Ash)
Fenyx has a major inferiority complex (thanks Ligyron 🙄)
Additionally, she is a Total people-pleaser, to the point where it’s unhealthy
Aphrodite: If Zeus told you to jump off Olympos, would you?
Fenyx: HE TOLD ME TO DO THAT??
She doesn’t know how to say no to people and can be manipulated Very Easily
Ares is protective af tell me I’m wrong
Specifically over Fenyx and Athena. but he will deny being protective over Athena till the day he dies
Fenyx was Intimidated when she met all the other gods for the first time
She was worried she wouldn’t be good enough
Tbh she Still sometimes thinks she isn’t good enough
Hestia absolutely adores her new niece
When the other gods hear how Fenyx survived Zeus’ lightning they were like :0
And then Hestia grilled her brother for it (pun intended)
Fenyx is a total mama’s girl, change my mind
Thetis loves her baby girl so much
Fenyx cares very much for Ash and has claimed Ash as her little sister
Fenyx Absolutely introduces Ash to Thetis and is like “Mamá, you have a new daughter”
Thetis rolls with it
Ash gets to live in Olympos after she’s revived and she’s completely overwhelmed, but happy to not be alone anymore
The gods keep forgetting how squishy she is and have to remember she Can still die
Speaking of death! being revived isn’t all that fun 😅
Sometimes all Ash tastes is literal ashes. even though she wasn’t in the Underworld for long, she still feels detached from her body at times, far away, like she isn’t really there. it’s scary for her and worrying for everyone else.
But that’s all for another time!
Everyone honestly loves Ash because she’s just so nice
They’re a family, your honor!

The Immortals Fenyx versions of the Gods meeting their Hades counterparts perhaps?

Ask and you shall receive. This is my first time drawing some of these Hades characters and it really shows. But that’s alright. First times for everything. Now you just said the gods but I couldn’t not draw Asterius and technically there are minotaurs in Immortals soo. Also I did not draw Zeus. That’s okay. Honestly these are just doodles I scraped together . Anyways, I hope you like it!

Every Greek knows about the apple of discord, the very same fruit that started the trojan war. I just have to draw this moment between these two goddesses who competed for the title ‘fairest of them all’. I decided not to include Hera, because I’m obsessed with these two😘
