over the last 24 hours Tom Homan has flip-flopped on what exactly is going to happen this upcoming week in the US, but we know he has threatened a “big raid across the country” and Chicago seems to be the first target with leaked plans for tuesday, January 21st, 2025. if you are here and live in a sanctuary city, brace for ICE raids to begin this week. if you're able, you can request or print your own red cards (available in multiple languages) from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and offer them to people within your community.
if you see ICE, let people know. shout "ICE" and "LA MIGRA." do not open your door for ICE.
You have constitutional rights:
- DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR if an immigration agent is knocking on the door. / NO ABRA LA PUERTA si un agente de inmigración está tocando la puerta. - DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS from an immigration agent if they try to talk to you. You have the right to remain silent. / NO CONTESTE NINGUNA PREGUNTA de un agente de inmigración si el trata de hablar con usted. Usted tiene el derecho de mantenerse callado. - DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING without first speaking to a lawyer. You have the right to speak with a lawyer. If you are outside of your home, ask the agent if you are free to leave and if they say yes, leave calmly. / NO FIRME NADA sin antes hablar con un abogado. Usted tiene el derecho de hablar con un abogado. Si usted está afuera de su casa, pregunte al agente si es libre para irse y si dice que sí, váyase con tranquilidad. - GIVE THIS CARD TO THE AGENT. If you are inside of your home, show the card through the window or slide it under the door. / ENTREGUE ESTA TARJETA AL AGENTE. Si usted está dentro de su casa, muestre la tarjeta por la ventana o pásela debajo de la puerta. I do not wish to speak with you, answer your questions, or sign or hand you any documents based on my 5th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. I do not give you permission to enter my home based on my 4th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution unless you have a warrant to enter, signed by a judge or magistrate with my name on it that you slide under the door. I do not give you permission to search any of my belongings based on my 4th Amendment rights. I choose to exercise my constitutional rights.
What to do if you are detained - National Immigration Law Center
there's also the ICE Detainer FAQ and the ICE Raids Toolkit from Immigrant Defense Project. and you can also get information on DACA, various resources for preparedness, and flyers at united we dream:
this one is Chicago specific but another organization that is helping people prepare:

regarding ICE as someone who has done some reporting on it and talked to both ICE and immigration lawyers
in different states, there are often different levels of law enforcement with ICE. california, for example, has the california values act and so in many jurisdictions, law enforcement is less likely to involve itself with immigration matters. pay attention to the history of your area's compliance with ICE. it also means law enforcement may not know ICE is around.
ICE vehicles do not have to be marked. oftentimes their enforcement and removal cars are not marked as "border patrol" or "ICE" or anything. their plates are usually "exempt" plates.
ICE officers are SUPPOSED to wear identifiable clothing and gear when performing operations, but are often in plainclothes, even during operations.
for reasons above, it might not be obvious that ICE is in your area or that a car you see is involved with ICE operations. FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES. trusted nonprofits and people who work with undocumented and nonstatus people will often be keeping tabs on ICE. law enforcement in some areas may know as well. find out if ICE is in your area through vetting sources and then keep tabs on them too.
try to provide information in as many languages as you can.
tell people: ICE NEEDS A JUDICIAL WARRANT TO ENTER YOUR HOME--not one signed by a higher up ICE official, it MUST be signed by a judge. ICE may insist that they don't need a warrant, that they operate differently. they are using scare tactics.
lastly, regardless of your immigration status: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. you can access the Immigration Legal Resource Center's red cards page, which can express your rights in a legally defensible way when ICE comes to your door. print some for your community. distribute them to people. they can be a useful resource! (https://www.ilrc.org/red-cards-tarjetas-rojas)
stay safe and protect each other, especially the most vulnerable groups among us.

PLEASE SHARE! (I have attached the English and Spanish versions but MANY more languages are available at the attached link)
One way to support the undocumented community is by sharing resources, reminding individuals of their rights, and standing in solidarity with them. Here's one effective way to offer support: provide Know Your Rights cards to empower our communities.
You can print these cards for free! I am sharing a resource from the IRC, which can be downloaded and is available in multiple languages.
Let's work together to empower our communities!

okay guys so this is gonna be a teensey bit different than my unserious shit but i'm still gonna use my normal tags because that;s my usual audience.
idk if you guys saw, but the other day ICE tried to raid and elementary school and take children out of their classrooms. luckily they weren't able to and children are safe, but it's still fucking insane that that was a thing they tried to do.
to all the people that voted for trump because you have issues with immigration, i just wanna say this. they aren't just stopping people who want to illegally cross the border.
theyre going to the fields and taking people. theyre approaching construction sites in an attempt to get the workers. theyre disguising themselves in ice cream trucks. theyre going to elementary schools. theyre catfishing teenagers on social media to get information. THEY ARE TARGETING CHILDREN.
and it's funny to me that the same people who think that immigrants are these evil criminals, are the same people calling themselves barbz, or begging for a rihanna album, or mindlessly following trump.
Rihanna is and immigrant. Nicki Minaj is and immigrant. Elon Musk is a fucking immigrant.
you can't have one without the other.
To the immigrants reading this, below, theres information on how to get or print your red card. its available in whatever language you need.
i love you guys! stay safe!

Hey!
So here's the thing: I love and am so grateful for this platform - for all of you who follow me, read my stories, and share a collective love for all things dipplinshipping, mintteashipping, and pokemon fandom alike. A primary focus of my account, in fact, is alllllll about fortifying a happy little escape zone where we can all be happy and have fun together.
This post is a rare "not about that" post. I'm gonna keep my personal feelings on this pretty brief, but here's the thing: I've been fucking livid. For awhile. I'm angry and disappointed with world leaders and people in power. And as an American, I'm feeling a lot around our government: its egregiously wealthy stakeholders - who wildly abuse their influence for self-gain - and the corruption that is a hate-motivated, white supremacist, capitalistic agenda. If you live in the US, or even anywhere else, I can promise you this: Your existence and presence is always valid, and is not defined by an executive order. If you follow me or watch my posts from time-to-time, I hope that you can continue to find a positive escape with what I promote here. And I hope you know how much you are loved and valued. Next order of business : Tax cuts to help the everyday person keep more of their check in their pockets cut the tax rates in New York City by 4 percent I see it as New York State taxes % 8.82 to % 4 percent and business tax cuts to create more jobs Proposal For a Wage increase of $ 22 dollars an hour Including : Fire safety directors Security guards Librarians Fed Ex workers UPS workers Ready Willing and able with free vocational grants from access vr programs they should hire vocational rehabilitation counselors and job developers finding permanent housing and permanent job placement after the clients training Stock Clerks and cashier's at major stores like Gristedes , C Town , met foods , Burlington coat factory wage increase for all warehousing and factory workers jack pallet and forklift training for people with no experience and a starting salary at $ 17 - 19 $ dollars an hour and it increase with more time on the job how about the first year at that base salary of $ 17 - 19 $ dollars and on the even of that year the employee gets an raise of $ 2 dollars more on their check and other financial incentives as cash allocation from their check for newly place employee mutual fund packages besides with other benefits that said company is offering this helps to place that company on the stock market and grant their employees preferred stock options from their company that they work for at that current moment and because of the huge huge employee buy in it is like the employers are investing in their employees and their stores and company .
Educational requirements for jobs posted is less than a high school diploma but the job candidate has to be in a vocational program or GED preparation course half or full time hours .
Civil service jobs and exams posted weekly .
Sales professional salary plus commission on sales and stock options for mutual funds packages as bonuses with an wage increase to $ 19 dollars to $ 21 dollars an hour .
Newly added benefits to a job description benefits an employer on jobs posted give to their employees an employer get to hold back cash or take money out of an employees check to put towards a mutual funds stock fund option to help that client make more money as a second job the municipals funds and stock and funds and stock and then you gotta get hedge funds option packaged in to help the employees money make more money for them talk about overtime whew and at the same time that local market and store owner can put his company on the stock market and give out public shares thus in the end making it a good investment a regular place of shopping in a family like environment it is like getting to know your deli clerk , butcher , bakery attendant again only this time you are making money with the people you are spending money with Think about it that in turns build better communities better stores customer relationships safer neighborhoods and the beautifying of economically depressed environments more money for your kids college tuition school supplies newer roads being built leading to and from better neighborhoods and businesses and this is a future that we all as fellow New Yorkers can build together .

Is there any organizations or anything we can donate to to help migrants in any capacity right now? I feel so powerless
There are always things that can be done. Here are some nonprofit links.
Immigration Defense Project
Immigrant Legal Resource Center
National Immigration Project
The reality of the situation is not good, and it's very important that we all have our eyes wide open right now. Do not comply in advance. It's important to protect any people in your community that may be vulnerable, even if that simply means claiming ignorance when being questioned by LE. It's not terribly unlikely to think that you may witness an ICE raid at some point, depending on where you live and how you spend your days - be obstructive in some way.
I am NOT an expert by any means, and I encourage people that know better to get tag onto this post if they're so inclined.

I am feeling very conflicted because I want to do more activism but I live in a very isolated area, and the one organization that works here that I even remotely align with politically has had some issues with the people it's supposed to serve (immigrants in this case) complaining that it doesn't provide many services needed and some people in it are dicks. Also, the options they have to collaborate are very much not autistic friendly. At the same time, I hate the thought of sitting back and doing nothing -beyond what I already do, which is limited to people I know- because the option to do something is not perfect. What would you recommend?
It sounds as though the organization you are looking at is a nonprofit that provides social services. I would not consider working with such an organization to be activism, usually. They will present volunteering your time with them as "activism," but it's really just free labor, somewhere on the spectrum between being charitable with your time and labor exploitation.
There is very little that most nonprofits do to advance any kind of social or political change of any kind. For the most part, nonprofits function to maintain their own operations, with a side hustle of dispensing very limited resources to marginalized people who will remain just as marginalized afterward.
More on this:
If you'd like to be involved more in your community in a way that feels meaningful and that works with your disability, I would encourage you to think far more broadly than merely joining an existing easily-findable organization. That kind of search will tend to skew toward liberal, nonprofit-led, politically toothless efforts. Instead, think of what you can do to make greater contact with the people in your area who are marginalized and share struggles with you.
Can you give homeless people meals in the park and ask them how they're doing? Can you get involved in your local parks or nature reserves? (there if you're volunteering your time, at least it can be for something enriching and beneficial). Is there a local Food Not Bombs chapter? A local Muslim community center that could use safety marshalls? A local abortion clinic that could use the same? Do you have neighbors who are single parents and need childcare help? Dogsitting? Does the senior down the street need their lawn mowed?
Is there a local Facebook group where you can offer help to people in your community in need? Start saying hello to people. Asking them about their day. Asking about what's going on in the neighborhood. What needs done, who needs help, what problems are plaguing the area that nobody is doing anything about? Are there any local businesses that are discriminatory and need to be taken to account publicly? Are there forests you can help protect from deforestation with tree spiking? Is there a jail near you where you can provide jail support, handing out food and clothes and water and letting released prisoners make phone calls?
Some of this stuff might not seem like activism in the most obvious, in-your-face, picket-signs-and-banners-in-the-streets sense. But it's a lot more impactful than a lot of that is on its own. It's community building. I'd also recommend reading some stuff on the Anarchist Library website about building one's own affinity groups. You don't need a big formal organization to make a difference -- in fact, for many structural and economic reasons, it can be harder to make a difference within a large group that faces public exposure and the risk of legal censure. A few new homies in your town who care as much as you do can do a whole lot of good.

Red Cards
All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home.

Found out about these cards you can order (in multiple languages) that instruct immigrants on what their rights are, as well as giving them a card with info they can just hand to immigration officers that say things like "I do not want to speak to you, you do not have my permission to enter, etc" (that's in English). I ordered 100 and will be putting them around town. Thought I'd share in case other folks didn't know about them.

Hey Tumblings,
Following up on my last post - as America attempts to become a hellscape I've been looking into where I can help monetarily. If you have the resources and want, the below charities all go to good stuff, and have an above 85% rating on Charity Advisor. (These are on top of the well-known names of ACLU, PP, HRC, NAACP, CRR, SPLC, etc.)
For anyone who needs something to remind them of hope and gives straight-forward action options, my sister (who exists in a more positive state of mind than I do) shared Chop Wood, Carry Water with me, and I've found it valuable in keeping my spirits up. If you don't have the funds or energy for either of these, just be kind to yourself.
Transgender Law Center - Trans Rights
PEN - Freedom of Expression/Literature
CREW - An Ethics Watchdog in Washington
Asylum Access - International Refugee Support
UNRWA - Palestinian Aide
National Immigration Forum - Supporting Immigrant Rights in the US
Race Forward - Racial Justice Fund
NRDC - Natural Resources Fund/Planetary Aide
Elevated Access - Provides free flights to people seeking Gender-Affirming or Abortion Care that cannot access them locally
Americans United for Separation of Church and State - What it says, has been instrumental in access to Birth Control, blocking far-right religious based laws
Lambda Legal - legal aid for LGBTQIA+ communities
