thank you @chiptrillino for tagging me in a wip game!
not quite sure what the rules are but based off of your AMAZING POST OF ART WIPS (check it out here yall chip is so talented) ive decided to just share some parts of my writing wips that i rlly like because i cannot draw whatsoever lmao
enjoy some lil snippets hehe
from heart don't stand a chance:
"Zuko couldn’t get over her eyes. She was looking past the camera towards the man who took it. Zuko could see clear as day the love she held for Sokka in her gaze.
It was a perfect moment that Sokka had captured. No wonder held it with him at all times. If someone had looked at Zuko like that, he’d never want to see anything again.
As he took in the photograph, Sokka sat next to him in silence. His hand was clutching the ring around his neck again in his fist, pressing it close to his mouth as he peered over Zuko’s shoulder to look. Zuko turned to him to compliment the picture and saw a sad fondness lingering in his eyes."
this is a scene i wrote a while ago thats gonna appear in a much later chapter. but yeah. more yue angst for you guys im so sorry.
from i love you (and that's all i really know):
"Mister Sokka," a little voice wishpered in his ear as he felt tiny pokes on his cheek, "Wake up Mister Sokka."
"Good morning to you too Izumi," Sokka responded wearily as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He looked towards the little girl who was standing on her tippy toes to see over the edge of the bed and poke his face until he rose.
She smiled at him once she realized he was awake.
"Can we have pancakes?" She asked shyly, hiding her mouth just below the edge of the bed as she looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
That look was going to be dangerous for him later on, he could aready tell.
"Sure thing, Izumi, just let me sleep for five more minutes, mkay?" He asked as he shut his eyes again. He was exhausted from last nights events, and the sun had barely risen. How did Zuko do this?"
this is a scene from the next chapter of this fic. so much sokka and izumi bonding you guys are gonna explode hehehe.
from cherry (the mailee fic i wont shut up about that is now a whopping 19 pages):
"Mai never had to guess with Ty Lee. She always knew when Ty Lee was happy about something because she would use an obnoxious amount of exclamation points. She would send gifs of people or cartoons making outlandish expressions whenever she wanted to react to Mai’s text with a specific facial expression. Sometimes Ty Lee would even send voice memos whenever her thoughts became too long, or she got too excited about a story that her fingers couldn’t type as fast as she could speak."
hehe i love mailee.
from yours (the mailee sorority fic that i promise i did not forget about):
"Mai lifted her head off the pillow again and met Zuko’s eyes. She studied his impassive expression, trying to figure out if he was joking or not. He did seem like he missed Mai and Azula, so maybe he did really just want to catch up with them.
But Mai wasn’t going to give up a golden opportunity like this.
“Tell us everything about the boy toy as well and you’ve got yourself a deal,” Mai said.
Zuko rolled his eyes and sighed, “Ugh, fine. And his name is Sokka by the way.”
“Nuance. You also have to wake up Azula.”
“No chance in hell,” Zuko scoffed, “You’re the roommate and her fellow ‘pong princess,’ wake-up duty is all yours.”
“If she murders me, it’s your fault. She’s a bitch when she’s hungover.”
“Whatever you say, Mai,” Zuko grinned before returning back to his phone."
i have decided that zuko is a little shit for this fic and no one can stop me.
from Where'd All the Time Go? (the yuekka fic that i have severe writers block with that i also promis i have not forgotten about):
"“Sokka I really think you need to take a moment and-”
“I am fine Aang, I don’t have time for a feelings talk right now. Right now I need to find the fucking chief of this damn place.” His words came out harsher than he meant, but he didn’t have the time to dwell on that.
Before Sokka could run off again to continue his search, a hand grabbed his arm. One of Arnook’s advisors, Malina, had started dragging him towards the podium.
“Do you not realize how late you are for this Sokka? The ceremony was supposed to begin with your speech nearly an hour ago-” she hissed at him as she pulled him along through the crowd.
“Malina I’m sorry but I really need to speak with Arnook it is urgent-”
“This damn speech of yours is what’s urgent right now Sokka, you can speak with Arnook later but the guests are getting antsy so you need to give your speech right. Now.”
“But-”
“Now.”
Maline shoved Sokka towards the podium and suddenly all eyes were on him. Every guest in attendance had their focus solely on Sokka."
homeboy is stressed in this scene. things are slowly going to shit in this chapter. i promise i will update this before the end of the year. i swear. im so sorry.
from a currently untitled jetko/sukka boiling rock fic:
"“Oh good, you survived after all,” She said in a mocking tone.
Jet didn’t answer. He knew anything he said would be used against him. He didn’t know where he was. He didn’t know what was happening. But he would be damned if he showed that weakness in front of the fire nation.
“I was told you were more talkative than this,” the girl mused. There was something familiar about her, “my informants were very detailed when discussing your little teashop romance.”
I knew it. Jet snarled in his mind, That bastard betrayed me."
i want this fic to be a little darker but idk how good i am at writing darker fics because i love fluff and humor too much. this could be good angst practice for me.
from a toph and sokka fic that i wrote a while back to help me cope w some shit that i dont know if ill ever post:
"“Sokka? Are you still there?” Toph asked, the slightest hint of concern began to slip into their voice
“Tell me a story,” he was trembling. Despite all of his efforts to sound calm, he knew his voice came out trembling and scratchy and pathetic-
“Is everything okay? You don’t sound too hot,” Toph said through the phone.
Breathe, Sokka, breathe. You don’t want them to be worried, you just need to calm down.
“Please, Toph, I just,” he said through shaky breaths that weren’t nearly deep enough for him to be getting enough oxygen, “I just need a distraction. I just need to hear your voice okay?”"
nonbinary toph anyone?
from a 10 things i hate about you kataang and zukka au:
"“What? Something on my face?” the guy asked deadpanned. He rubbed at his scar as if he were wiping off a smudge of mustard, and Aang’s face went pale.
“Stop scaring the sophomores Zuko, this one’s new. He won’t get your… humor… just yet,” Ms. Wu said as she waved Aang off again.
“I’m hurt that you’d imply I’m not funny, Wu. I’m hilarious,” the senior, Zuko, said as he walked past Aang.
Aang let out a sigh of relief knowing that this Zuko guy didn’t seem all that offended by his awkwardness, and darted out of the room."
zuko is a little shit part 2. the amount of sarcasm i have dripping off of heath ledger zuko is glorious. let zuko be a little shit. i havent added to this in months but when i finish some of my other wips i cant wait to get back to this.
i have more wips and drafts saved but none of them have anything juicy or funny or interesting yet because all of them are like less than three pages so far
but yeah, heres a good chunk of sneaky peakys from my wips!
I hope you liked them!
anyone who wants to do this can totally go for it. imma tag @ambykinns @lumities and @flowers-inthepieshop (only if you all want too!!) because this was fun :)

I am sorry this is so late to the ask about favorite fics, but I am a slow not so great writer, and it is also very long 😬. But I still wanted to share this with you, and I hope you like it! Anyways here’s my top ten!
1.) Et Tu
So this is my favorite and most reread. You build the tension so masterfully that it is like a noose tightening around the mc’s neck. The glances and looks from each team member during practice are used to skillfully inform the reader and are used as reference during the confrontation (gotta love continuity!). The fact that you referenced earlier in the fic made me super happy. I immediately knew you were a good writer the second I read it (I mean I already knew you were good, but I feel it was this moment I was like your not just good but phenomenal) The confrontation scene is amazing it had me going from anticipation and curiosity to thirsty so fast. I also liked the fact that you once again described the team in the locker room, so we could know how their dynamic with the reader changed once they were in private. Is beautiful 100/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 gold stars
2.) Like Nobody Else
You are a queen of building tension as seen in most of your works, but this one was the pinnacle of everything I wanted:
soulmates ☑️, yandere ☑️, smut ☑️
Like you put all of my favorites in one fic and I was like ma’am this is some queen level writing. It’s so amazing I have read it multiple times. Will read it again. Never gets old. Will probably go reread it again now.
3.) Bully
Ah yes once again the spice that gives me life ~tension~. So much so that it is the first thing I have written for all top 3. Your just so good at writing it. Unfortunately I don’t really know how to explain how amazing you are at building tension. Like I can cut the tension in your writing with a super dull plastic butter knife (if that even makes sense???). I like how in this fic it isn’t just Oikawa, but also his fan club getting involved. Whenever his fan club is involved it’s like soft very small crime Lord vibes cause it’s other people doing his bidding. I will get my mafia au fix in anyway I can get it until you update Lion’s Den. Ok got off track there, anyways I like all the character interactions in this fic and how Oikawa corners the readers throughout it. Also I have thoroughly enjoyed all the Drabbles you wrote for Bully.
4.) Feral
This is the first fic of yours I read. I love this one as well as your other BNHA fics. I love how you write Hawks in this, and the more you write BNHA fics the better you’ve gotten at writing the characters. There is always a learning curve when writing a for a new character or fandom, but as you’ve gotten more comfortable writing in this world your works have improved. This is the fic I felt as a reader you were getting more comfortable writing for BNHA. It’s such a good fic too. I love how you wrote snapped Hawks in this. I am so happy I found you and this fic.
5.) For Old Times Sake
I love this one so much. Probably cuz the Miya twins are in it lol. I don’t know why?? but I love your description of the pool flashback I just do? Like I will go open the fic and scroll right to that part and reread it. Like I love that scene so much that when you open your requests back up Imma probably ask for a prequel just for an extended pool scene. Like the twins orchestrating getting everyone drunk and then once the reader is making out with them each twin takes turns shooing everyone else out of the pool so they can be alone~.
Anyways amazing fic. Like so good in fact that I moved it up the list twice.
6.) Dirty
👏 MY CRUSTY BOI 👏
You did so good with the smut in this fic. I know you said you were going to practice writing smut more and I want you to know it either A.) paid off (even though I didn’t think you needed practice it the first place because your good at writing smut) or B.) in the case this was practice that you no longer need to practice and that you are now a smut master. Good stuff, and was an amazing surprise to find during my daily check of your tumblr. Here another gold star to add to your collection ⭐️
7.) Good Girl
I call this one the OG even though it isn’t your first fic. I think I started calling it the OG once I figured out it was your first Haikyuu!! smut on AO3. I really liked all the character interactions in this. If you ever feel up to posting the first draft with yandere Sugawara so we can see how the original confrontation plays out and how this changes the interactions I would love to read it. Cause honestly the more yanderes the better lol. Also Oikawa was really hot in this like 🥵. Love reading the second chapter cause the smut is fantastic. Also really liked the cliffhanger to be continued ending that also has a certain amount of finality to it. I have no clue how you were able to write the ending like this for Good Girl or any of your other fics, but I’m happy you write the endings this way. It leaves me fine with the ending you have but leaves the door open for you to revisit and add more to completed fics which can be done through drabbles or with a part 2. Just really well done 👍
8.) Dear Old Friend
First Atsumu, then we get Kiyoomi, and then in a drabble Osamu!!! Hell yeah! The interaction between the reader the yanderes is so different compared to your other fics and I really enjoyed drunk reader. Drunk reader is always fun would read anytime.
9.) Outrunning Fate and Breaking Point
People have said it before and I’ll say it again your souls mate fics are phenomenal. As if that wasn’t enough then you wrote drabbles about both fics. It’s like your trying to steal my heart here like damn. I loved both these fics so much that I couldn’t decide between the two and now they both get to be here. Part of this decision came from the fact that both fics have wildly different dynamics, and the other half was me unable to leave one off the list.
10.) Bite the Bullet
YAAS! Love the make out scene in this and the possessiveness of the Shiratoizawa team. My goodness just take all of my gold stars why don’t you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Side notes to the top ten list:
- Like I knew what Haikyuu!! was I just hadn’t read or watched it yet when I came across your works. So while I was reading everything I kept on having to google characters and read their wiki pages lol. You know a fanfic is good when you dedicate yourself to entering a new fandom.
-I get so nervous writing Japanese names since my autocorrect is so sensitive and corrects them when I don’t notice so I don’t use a lot of the character’s names lol
-I wrote this before Split came out otherwise it would have been on the list, and I also forgot that Final girl existed and then went to make sure I got all the titles right and was like 🤭 oh no. But alas the list was already made.
-I went into this being all serious and then .2 seconds later it turned into whatever the hell my bastard hands typed so my bad. Also I feel as if I come off as aggressive at points and I need you to know I’m not trying to be aggressive I’m just very passionate about how good u are at writing.
-anyways
-YOUR SO GOOD AT WRITING💖
-sorry for yelling
-please get some sleep u are precious and need to rest. very happy u were able to finish writing split, but would be even happier if you didn’t derive yourself of sleep to get it done. take care of yourself first, writing second
I just-
Tumblr media
thank you so much oh my god this is like the sweetest ask I’ve ever gotten i’m crying like?? who gave you the right?? sdfghghjk i’m gonna need a moment 😭

Road to Dystopia Pt. 2
I added a few people to the tag that interacted with me since the previous update, but y’all let me know if you want to be taken off. I don’t have the next update written out yet (this one, I wrote mostly when I wrote the first chapter), so the last update might be a little bit further away than the space between these two, but regular readers know that generally, I try to keep turnaround time for updates pretty concise. They get harder the longer a fic is, but fortunately, this little guy only has one more chapter. Thank you to all of you taking this short journey with me, because while it is one of my smaller works, I still am putting the same big amount of energy into it that I put into all of this work for us. I hope you enjoy this part as much as the last.

Listening to Charlotte
Charlotte wiped her eyes and dried her hands on Jasper's chest before pacing, catching her breath, and giving herself a low volume speech. "Okay, Charlotte. A plan. What next? If Henry's… if the Man Cave… if… Schwoz!" She snapped her fingers. "We have to contact Schwoz. He'll have backup supplies somewhere.” She patted herself, "My phone! It was on the table." She looked expectantly at Jasper, because his was usually in his pocket.
"I left mine on the couch," Jasper said, miserably, not ready to wipe his own tears yet but trying not to bawl in front of Charlotte, because she was really pulling herself together and trying to think things through.
She was brilliant. She always saved the day, somehow, or at least helped to the point that it couldn’t have been done without her. Maybe not hands on, but definitely behind the scenes. He was grateful for her right now. Without her, he'd be freaking out and wailing to the skies. Maybe even calling out Henry's name himself and breaking down. But, Charlotte's brave face was giving him something akin to hope, or maybe he was just desperate to cling to the one friend that Henry's last words to him were to save her. Henry. He couldn't stop wondering about him, but Charlotte’s mood changed and broke into his Henry worries… "Fuss at me. Tell me how let down you are by me," he heard her say, with a small voice.
"What?" He asked.
When he looked at her, she'd stopped pacing and was just staring angrily at the sky with her fists and teeth clenched. She was coming up short for ideas and her motivational speeches became voices of the Man Cave, voices that she was a little too weak to combat. "That's what usually happens, even when I'm doing my job. Now, I’ve completely failed Henry. Why aren't you complaining about me? Why aren't you talking to me like I'm an idiot? You've done it for less. THIS is the time for it!" She said.
"I'm… sorry. I never should have done that. There was never a time to talk to you like that. You're no idiot, Charlotte and you didn't fail anybody."
"Tell that to Henry," she mumbled, and as though on cue, they heard a loud crashing noise and looked to see an explosion that tore part of the Swellview sign off of Mount Swellview. They both screamed. A series of explosions and the collapse of the sign and rocks, they watched in horror. Charlotte covered her mouth with both hands and Jasper fell to his knees, the breakdown finally imminent.
"Charlotte?" She heard through her headset. It was Piper. "Did you see that? What the heck happened?" Piper didn't know that Henry went down with the blimp and Charlotte couldn't find her voice, but she realized something.. the headset was connected via a network outside of the Man Cave… which meant that she should still be able to reach Schwoz!
"I'll get back to you," she told Piper, knowing her voice betrayed her feelings, but there was no way that she was saying something when she didn’t have anything good to say. She tapped her ear and called softly, "Schwoz?"
Schwoz told her, "Charlotte! You made it out of the Man Cave!" He had never sounded more excited to hear her voice. "I am collecting Ray in a helicopter. We're going to go to the mountains and search for Henry."
"Can you pick up me and Jasper? We're outside of…" she looked at the rubble, sadly…"What used to be Junk N Stuff…" she watched Jasper, now clenching the ground, toppled over and shuddering with cries.
"Yes. Stay where you are… I'm glad you made it, Girlfriend." Schwoz said.
Jasper couldn't hear them or anything else. The sounds of the explosions and the mountain falling was roaring in his ears. Each new loud sound made him jump and started a new flow of tears. He couldn't hear anything else until he heard Charlotte say his name. "Jasper?" His eyes stung and he was grief stricken, but he faced her. She got down on her knees and said, "Hey..  Schwoz is coming to get us, okay? You.. wanna hold my hand until he gets here?"
"He must've been so lonely…" Jasper said, his dirty hand taking the one that she extended and hanging on to it, for everything sacred. She had been thinking about that too. Henry's reaction when he realized that they were leaving him for school literally broke her heart. She didn't want his last moments to be anything like that. "How was I gonna just leave him?" Jasper asked her. "How was I gonna just go away to school?"
"You deserve a chance to leave this place, Jasper. Don't beat yourself up. Henry… wouldn't have held it against you."
He wiped his eye, but then got ground dirt into it and groaned, "I am so stupid!"
"No you're not!" She squealed. He used his shirt to clear his eye, then looked at her. She was pointing at him, but not touching him as she punctuated, "You're brave. You're strong. You're a hero. You fought for us. Freed everybody from the Cavemen. You just saved my life. Henry would be proud of you for moving forward. I know he would be, because I am." She sighed, "and right now, Buddy, I need you to be brave and strong again, one more time, then you never have to, if you don't want to.” He was staring at her with puffy blue eyes, waiting for whatever she had to say next, attentive, because he could tell it was important. “We might find Henry, we might not, but… we've gotta try. Whatever we might see, it’ll be SO hard, Jasper. It’ll be hard for both of us, but..”
"Got it. I'm… I'll be brave and strong. For you."
"And Henry," she added. He nodded. She noted that he still wasn't saying his name. But, at least, he was picking himself up off of the ground and he helped her up, as well.
.
Whenever they checked into the hotel, Jasper and Henry carried their stuff to the room, and upon opening the door, they looked at the provisions. It was meant for one person. They weren’t rich, and the guys decided to join her on pretty short notice, so this was what it was for the time being. A simple and clean spot for a temporary charity worker. “I talked with the leader of the team and she’ll try to get us a bigger room after a few months or so of service. They’re a charity, so you know… They can’t just snap their fingers and give us resources,” she said.
Jasper and Henry both answered at the same time. “This is better than my house,” and “I thought I was gonna be in a coffin, so…” respectively. They followed her lead on how to set the room up as best as they could for the three of them and when it was all done, they all stared at the bed. Up until then, they had been together pretty much since Kid Danger’s death, but they also had more space for this type of thing. They’d been pretty much sleeping over at Charlotte’s house and even pushing the beds together and using them as one was a little more room than what they had here.
“It’s too small for your height and too small for your weight,” she told Jasper and Henry. “We need to reinforce the frame, and maybe set up a footstool on the end.”
“Whatever it takes,” Henry said, with a shrug. She nodded. It was new, getting used to them just listening to her, so she didn’t want to get too comfortable with it just yet, but she did like that little rejoice of not having to explain and argue with them as to why her ideas worked.
“Where do we get what we need to do that?” Jasper asked.
“Well… First, I need to install my security system in here, so that nobody can break in while we’re gone. Then, you guys can come with me to report to the charity base. I’ll figure out where we can start trying to get supplies and stuff on the way?” She said it uncertain, because of the newness, but both of them simply nodded their heads, trusting that whatever she said - it was the right thing.
.
"I feel useless! I need a computer or something!" Charlotte fussed. Jasper was operating a drone, Schwoz was flying the helicopter, and she was looking through binoculars. Piper and Ray had taken a separate copter, and she honestly couldn't figure out how Piper could manage, but Piper insisted that she could "just feel" that Henry was okay. Charlotte didn't know that feeling at the time. "Schwoz, do you have anything that I could use to help, or scan, or something useful?"
"Well… I do have an experimental cyberchip implant that could put an interactive computer inside of your brain with nanotechnology."
"What?" Jasper asked, while Char asked, "You have it on you?"
"Yes, it's in my pocket, but the implantation would be crude because I don't have tools and we are in a helicopter. And it will also hurt a lot going in."
"Okay," she said and nodded.
"NOT Okay!" Jasper said. "I'm not one of the smarties, but I know that "experimental" means that neither of you know what to that's gonna do if you try to use it!"
"It's gonna help us maybe find Henry," Charlotte said.
"Or make us lose you! Getting a "crude" implant of an experimental chip on a helicopter, Charlotte…" Jasper was panicked.
"Jasper. It's gonna be okay. Schwoz is a genius."
"Awww," Schwoz said.
Jasper rubbed his temples with his fingertips, shaking his head at the mere thought of things going wrong… "Jasper. I'm not leaving you, okay?" She said. He sighed. He hated it, but he had to take her word. He nodded. "Let's do this, Schwoz." Schwoz wasn't kidding. It hurt like hell! The first incision was okay, but the chip entering her head and trying to function was excruciating and she tried not to show it because Jasper was already losing it.
"Is my vision supposed to change?" She asked, trying not to sound alarmed by the way her eyesight felt like she was receiving stats in a VR game or something. "I have like… robo-vision…"
"Well, that can happen…" Schwoz said. "You don't have any additional hardware besides your brain available."
"How do I change these settings?" She wondered, wanting to change the mode of vision. She was worried, but she needed to try to act cool. Jasper had lost all of his shit when the blimp crashed, and even though she was a mess on the inside, she knew that she had to be cool headed through this mission. She tried not to think of it as recovering his remains, but she knew that everybody but the denial stricken Piper was thinking it.
Schwoz handed Charlotte his cell phone and opened the app he made for the microchip. That was more like it. She began to change the way her vision was set up, Jasper noted her eyes changing color and form as she did, and whenever she set it to bioscan, she looked over the mountain and began to search. He resumed his drone duties.
Piper hung back in the helicopter that she was flying as Captain Man scoured the crash site, inch by inch, moving him as needed and occasionally checking her phone to see if the connection had picked up the signal of Henry’s, and to ignore messages from their parents, asking to be in the loop when they straight up left them to blow up in the Man Cave in the first place. Henry would probably forgive them for that, but she wasn’t going to any time soon.
“I see something,” Charlotte said on the radio. “Piper… I’ll send you coordinates to bring Ray. I… I think that I found Henry’s bioscan..” She said. She knew that the equipment in her noggin was experimental, so the fact that it was reading as a living person, she wasn’t going to say… just in case. But, also… she hoped… and also… she wondered if the chip wasn’t just giving a false reading altogether and there was nothing there.
Whenever she heard Ray ask, “Where are you, Kid?” in the saddest, softest voice she had heard from him yet, even today, she figured that it was a fluke in the chip, but she heard something. Muffled groaning, but… DEFINITELY Henry! “Right here, Dude.. Ugh. It’s gonna take forever. This is… this was not my best idea. From now on, I should really listen to Charlotte. Well… some babies lived…”
“Henry?” She called out.
Ray said into the radio, “Okay, so I’m not the only one who heard that?”
“Get my brother from under those rocks!” Piper squealed.
They landed and hiked nearby to try to work on freeing him. Charlotte rolled a huge rock that Ray and Jasper had been struggling with away, to everybody’s surprise and Henry was there, glowing green. “It’s really him!” Jasper cheered and laughed in disbelief. They began to pull away all of the rest of the rocks to get him uncovered and he stopped glowing green and passed out. “HENRY???” Jasper called out, saying his name finally, after hours of not being able to even mutter it.
Charlotte tapped on the screen of Schwoz’s phone and scanned him, “He’s exhausted himself. I think he was holding that forcefield this entire time, scared that he might get crushed if he stopped.”
“Let’s get him to the Man Cave… Oh…” Piper said and dropped her shoulders.
“I’ve got a place,” Schwoz said.
Ray lifted Henry into his arms and everyone wanted to be on the helicopter with Henry, so after a little bit of the team fussing, Charlotte said, “Let’s just come back for the second helicopter after we’ve gotten Henry settled.” Everyone. Listened. She laughed and wondered, finally relieved because Henry was okay, “Did this chip give me ‘being listened to’ superpowers?”
“It’s not programmed for that,” Schwoz said. She didn’t care to explain that she was joking, but he didn’t give her a chance to, anyway. “It’s also not programmed for the strength to move an extremely large rock. What happened there?”
She furrowed her eyebrows and said, “If YOU don’t know, I CERTAINLY don’t!”
“We’ll check it out in the Man Nest.”
“In the what?” She asked. He just smiled and looked over at Ray, hoping to make eye contact, but Ray was looking at Henry, in his arms, and only looked up after he felt eyes on him.
“The Man Nest,” Schwoz repeated, not expounding, because soon, they would see it.
.
Charlotte groaned and took the chip out of the side of her head and set it into a tiny bowl. Henry peeked into the bathroom and watched as she pulled the purple locks of hair up, away from her face and examined the tiny slit in her face. "What's going on?" He wondered.
"Got the new and improved cyberchip in the mail," she said. "Schwoz says that with the upgrades, I'll be able to get the Dystopia police records as well."
"Uhhh…" Henry said, trying to respond like he knew what that meant…
"I'll know beforehand which cops are dirty. If someone who's flagged as such is closest to the scene, we at least know that we won't be able to trust them," She explained as she worked on implanting the upgraded chip into the side of her head.
"That looks SO uncomfortable," Henry said.
"Only during this part. When I get it into place and the nanotechnology works with my DNA, it's almost like I become the information… Ooh!" She yelped, pained.
"Ooh, what? What do you mean by Ooh!?" He asked.
Jasper came barging in, asking, "What was that "Ooh" for?"
Charlotte held both of her hands out and stared at her reflection as her vision began to change when her mind downloaded the information and her body integrated Schwoz's chip with her body. Her eyes changed and Jasper and Henry gasped and held on to each other. She tapped the side of her head and her eyes returned to normal. "This upgrade SLAPS!" She said.
She heard a beep and looked down at her arm to see a little screen, "Oooh, new feature!"
"What is.. how is it doing that?" Jasper asked.
"If I waste my time explaining the science, you still wouldn't understand. So, I'll just say this.. there is technology in my body, but I STILL am not a robot." She laughed and slapped Jasper on the butt. "Stop looking all scared. You weren't scared of me not being me last night." She winked at him.
"Good point," he said, nodding. Henry laughed.
She picked up the previous one that she had since the day they were looking for Henry. "Is it stupid that I want it for sentimental value?"
"No. It helped you to find me." He took it from her fingertips, "I can turn it into a pendant for you?"
"Cool," she said with a smile, and headed for the bedroom. He opened the medicine cabinet and put it in a little trinket box for later. Whenever he came out, Charlotte was already snuggling up to Jasper, both of them in boy shorts and tank tops, the standard issue sleepwear that Charlotte ordered for the base. Henry hated those things on himself, but on them…
He came to bed too and Charlotte reached out and collected him by the hand, to pull  him into the snuggle. They’d talk for hours, just like this and fall to sleep in their tiny bed. Most of the conversation that they had was either at the base, where they did their charity work, or here, at home. They couldn’t really do this in public.
Dystopia streets were always searching for a weakness and somebody close to you definitely qualified. People walked next to spouses like they were strangers heading the same way. Sometimes, whenever they were on the train, Jasper and Char would play a game where they tried to guess if two or more people knew each other. Is that her lover? Is that his kid? They’d quietly discuss why or why not. Henry would linger nearby, keeping an eye on them, but not engaging. They were already doing too much playing those little games! But, it brought them a little bit of joy, so he couldn’t deny them. They deserved all their moments of joy, as far as he was concerned.
But, he loved being able to do this with them every night. And... once they started listening to each other, he realized that Charlotte was actually smarter than he even ever knew in the first place and Jasper was wildly attentive and low-key hilarious. He talked the least, of the three, but they always pulled him into conversations. They liked the way he would start talking about one thing and go on an entire long tangent to several other things, forgetting his original point, sometimes, but at least being open with them. He liked that too. He hadn’t had a lot of time in the past to just openly talk about things, casual or crucial, and he had not previously had anyone there to not only just LISTEN to those thoughts, but to actually admire him for speaking them. He was usually the first one to go to sleep. The other two tended to watch over him for a while longer.
Charlotte called it the wind down reverse. Whenever it was time to jump into action, she was first, then Jasper followed, then Henry. But, whenever it was time to settle. Henry was first, then Jasper, then herself. They spent their waking hours making sure that they didn’t rest until she was definitely safe, and she didn’t rest until she noted that little fact to herself every night.

oh, my sunlight, chapter one (branjie) - holtzmanns
(read on ao3) | (tumblr: plastiquetiaras) | word count: 2505
AN: Was I going through Game of Survival withdrawals? Possibly. This fic is going to be a short little one, but I’ve missed this verse way too much to leave it forever. Hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think. Title from ‘Sunlight’ by Hozier. Thank you Writ for betaing <3
“Perimeter secured. Firebird’s room flanked by Rollans and McCrae, while Wilson and Qiao already positioned in the crowd. Rodriguez and Byrne across the street at 900 m, on the seventh and twenty fourth floor balconies respectively.”
“Thanks, Lee.” The all clear from the other Secret Service agent helps Brooke’s heart to unknot itself a little, knowing that the pre-G20 summit event is secure, that Vanessa is protected on multiple levels. She leans against the wall in the tiny meeting room, watches as her wife practices her speech with A’keria. Or at least, is trying to, judging by the way that A’keria’s head is in her hands.
Brooke may be Vanessa’s immediate detail, but having an entire team is useful in countering the ever-present anxiety that pulses through her veins, around her own safety, Vanessa’s safety, their well being. Sure, the days of sniper rifles and late night hits are long gone from Brooke’s life, but their safety has only become more prolific.
As expected, when Brooke’s wife is none other than the President of the United States.
“Lemme try again. I got it this time, Kiki.” Vanessa’s holding up her cue cards, pacing back and forth. Brooke has to resist a smile at the way Vanessa’s perfectly styled hair and pantsuit contrast with the slight frown on her face as she squints at the cards.
“Vanj, I swear to god. Imma have to hire you a proper speechwriter eventually, ‘cause you’re the sole cause of these wrinkles on my face.” A’keria’s feet are propped up on the chair beside her as she lets out a sigh, and Brooke’s glad that it’s just the three of them in the room, reporters and summit participants from other nations gathering in the larger conference hall, where Vanessa will be giving part of the opening remarks.
“Why do you gotta put all of these difficult words in here, anyway? My brain has forgotten all of this shit from college.” Vanessa sighs as she flops into a seat on A’keria’s other side, spinning around so that she’s facing Brooke. She pouts, and Brooke can’t help but blow her a small kiss.
“You can do it, baby. I believe in you.” Vanessa smiles at Brooke’s words despite her slumped shoulders, blowing a kiss back at her. “You’ll dazzle them like you do every single time.”
“You have to say that. We’re married.” Vanessa says the words with a sliver of marvel in her voice, as if it hasn’t been four years of marriage for the two of them already, as if they’re not well into Vanessa’s second term as president.
Brooke gets it. It still amazes her too, sometimes, the way her rings glint on her finger, sparkling in the light whenever she lifts a hand up to her earpiece while she’s on the job. That the woman she’s in charge of protecting, of keeping safe is her wife. All these years later, they’re still doing this. Surviving. Thriving.
“Doesn’t make it any less true.” Brooke walks over to Vanessa and presses a light kiss to her lips, lifts her thumb to wipe the faint transfer of her lipstick that contrasts with the one that Vanessa’s already wearing.
“Save that for later.” A’keria waves a hand in their faces, making both of them crack up. “You gotta learn to pronounce words like ‘ratification’ first.”
“I don’t give a rat’s ass, Kiki.” Vanessa drops her cue cards on the table as A’keria sighs in the same tone commonly used by an elementary school teacher.
“Yes you do. Now, we got fifteen minutes until you’re up in front of all of those cameras and other world leaders. You want them to think you’re a fool?”
Vanessa shrugs. “I’ve met most of them, how many times? Too many times. Except the new President of Mexico, he was just elected last month. I’ll be fine.”
Brooke watches with an amused smile as Vanessa pats A’keria’s shoulder as she drops her head onto the table. “There, there. From the top?”
“Firebird in position. Rollans, take the east aisle. Qiao, the west. McCrae, I want you in the media box.” Brooke mutters softly into her earpiece as clapping erupts when Vanessa steps on stage, takes her place at the podium. Her mind’s running at a million miles an hour, mapping out routes along the convention hall, looking for points of vulnerability, anything that can put Vanessa at risk.
“Roger that.” The voice of a fellow agent reverberates in her ear, followed by the other members of the team in turn. Secure. As they should be.
Brooke lets her mind pause its process for a second when Vanessa begins to speak, the pin on her lapel sparkling under the flashing lights of the cameras around her. She doesn’t spare a glance at her cue cards, letting the words roll off of her tongue almost effortlessly. Brooke would be impressed if this wasn’t Vanessa’s norm, pulling herself together at the last minute, but perfectly so. The rapt attention of the other attendants at the summit, following Vanessa’s every move like they’re being pulled in by a magnet as she steps away from the podium, is electrifying to watch.
Vanessa’s good. So, so good at what she does, and it hits Brooke every day how lucky she is to witness it.
“…look forward to productive conversations with my international counterparts over the next few days, specifically on the risk mitigation of…”
Brooke tunes out Vanessa’s speech, having heard it at least twenty times before she had stepped on stage. She lets her eyes roam around the crowd, noticing the way that the Argentinian president seems to be doodling on a napkin on his table, his Finance Minister furiously elbowing his side.
Sometimes, the international meetings truly make Brooke feel like she’s in high school again. Still a fly on the wall, watching the chaos unfold in front of her.
“Hytes? You spot the server in the second aisle? He looking a bit suspicious to you?”
Brooke cranes her neck to look at the far aisle, sees the man that her fellow agent is talking about. Narrows her eyes at the ill fit of the server’s uniform, the way his eyes are darting around the conference hall.
“Get him d-”
Brooke doesn’t get to finish her sentence when the man lets off a smoke bomb, because she’s taking one, two steps up to the podium to reach Vanessa, a protective arm around her as she pulls through the back doors behind the stage.
“Shit.” Brooke’s arms around Vanessa tighten when state sanctioned police swarm past them into the conference hall, nearly knocking them over. She recovers quickly, though, tugging Vanessa back into the meeting room where she had practiced her speech with A’keria, locking the door behind them.
“Hey. You okay?” Brooke can’t help the way that her eyes flit over Vanessa’s face, looking for any sign of harm, of damage. Her hands brush Vanessa’s hair out of her face, pat down her shoulders and arms as if the motion is going to help her find any hidden injury.
Vanessa lets out a shaky breath, one that is nearly drowned out by the sounds of chaos on the other side of the wall. “I’m okay. Wait.” Vanessa’s brow furrows, her hand reaching up to brush against Brooke’s forehead. “Why are you bleeding?”
“What?” Brooke’s wondering if Vanessa herself has hit her head until Vanessa pulls her fingers back, sees the way that they’re dripping in blood. “Oh.”
Huh. She’s confused by the sight, not being in any pain. She’s not quite sure when it had happened, either. Maybe the way her head accidentally hit the podium as she reached Vanessa? Or maybe when the police had knocked against her?
Still, doesn’t matter since it’s not hurting her. And because Vanessa’s safe in front of her, uninjured and in one piece.
Things are okay.
“Shit, baby.” Vanessa’s tone differs from Brooke’s appraisal of the situation as she grabs the tissue box from the middle of the conference table, folds it up and presses it to Brooke’s head biting her lip all the while. “I’m no doctor.”
“It’s fine, V. Head lacerations tend to bleed. Probably just a surface scratch.” Brooke’s had her fair share of cuts and bruises throughout her life, and remains unfazed, reaching for her earpiece to quell the incessant requests for updates from her fellow agents.
“Firebird is safe with me.” The sighs of relief over the comm system as soon as the words leave Brooke’s lips are comically in sync. “Updates?”
Another agent starts talking about the takedown of the man, about how he had attempted to pull out a weapon before being brought down, but the words are becoming a little softer, a little bit more muffled. Brooke watches as Vanessa grabs another tissue, pressing it to her forehead after pulling the other one back, and is she really bleeding that much? Huh.
Come to think of it, Vanessa’s getting a bit blurry in front of her, too.
“Brooke Lynn Hytes, if you faint on me in this meeting room while there’s an actual stampede happening outside these doors, I swear to god-”
“Don’t be embarrassed, B.” Vanessa’s giggle only makes Brooke groan, lifting a hand to cover her face underneath the fluorescent lighting overhead. The bandage on the side of her forehead feels overbearing, squeezing her temple just a bit too tight.
“I really fainted? Fully fainted?” A nightmare. A true nightmare, one that Brooke thinks Vanessa is finding a little bit too funny as she sits on a chair beside her ER bed.
“Why else would we bring your dramatic ass here? The on site medic was worried about blood loss. Wanted you to get checked out, with some stitches. Silk got them to shut down half of the ER in the process, while tryna get me here with you on the down low and all.”
“Ugh.” Brooke wants to disappear. The last thing that she should be doing at her job is drawing attention to herself. She’s supposed to be protecting Vanessa, but instead has created an entire debacle for the both of them.
Vanessa squeezes her hand. “It’s not like we’re missing anything at the summit. Ended for the day after all that chaos. Resuming tomorrow.”
“Good.” Brooke lets out a breath. The last thing she wants to do is pull Vanessa away from her job.
“‘Sides, everyone’s worried about you. Wanted to make sure you were okay.” Brooke groans louder at Vanessa’s statement. She doesn’t like drawing the focus. Even if their delegation is worried, she knows that her security team is going to make fun of her like there’s no tomorrow once they head back. She’s not ready for the roasts about her penchant for injuring herself in hilariously dramatic ways.
“Mrs. Hytes-Mateo?” Vanessa and Brooke both look up at the doctor who’s poked his head into the room, past the security detail stationed outside the door.
“This is she.” Brooke’s statement is ignored as the doctor does a double take at Vanessa, who diplomatically stands up to shake his hand.
“H-hello, Madame President, I was wondering why there was so much security in my ER, it’s beginning to make sense now-”
Vanessa cuts off the man’s rambling. “Is my wife going to be okay?”
“What-oh. Yes, a couple of stitches and she’ll be good as new. Now, concerning the pregnancy, as it is quite early on there should be no lasting issues-”
Huh?
Brooke can feel her own mouth drop open as Vanessa holds up a hand to pause the doctor. “Pregnancy?”
“Yes, as you probably know-”
Pregnancy.
She’s pregnant.
Actually pregnant.
Sure, they had an appointment scheduled for after the summit to follow up after the embryo transfers, but after so many failed attempts, Brooke hasn’t had her hopes up that this time would be successful, and has tried to prepare herself for the worst-
Pregnant.
The word echoes around her brain, replaying over and over and over again, and she can’t have imagined the words coming out of the doctor’s mouth because Vanessa’s face is equally flabbergasted, equally in shock as she grips the armrests of her chair.
“What’d you say, Doc?” Vanessa’s voice comes out in a squeak.
Brooke looks up at the doctor, her eyes wide as the blood rushes through her veins because the words haven’t quite sunk in yet (she’s pregnant, she’s pregnant ), and he takes a step back.
“Oh? I’m sorry, I thought you were already aware…” He trails off, and Brooke thinks it’s just as well, because she can’t focus on any coherent conversation right now because she’s pregnant.
But then suddenly there’s a weight on her chest and it’s Vanessa, hugging her midsection before she lifts her teary face up towards hers to kiss her. Vanessa’s eyes are alight when she pulls back, a grin on her face so bright that it’s damn near about to knock Brooke over.
“Oh my god.” The words leave Brooke in a gasp, because it’s surreal, it’s not happening, not after so many disappointments and so much trying and they were going to give up after this one last attempt, but now they don’t have to, because-
“We’re having a baby.” Vanessa chokes out a sob, sniffles and Brooke pulls her closer, shaky hands on either side of her face and kisses the tears on her cheeks. She’s dreamed about this, they’ve dreamed about this for so long, this moment, this one moment that’s turned out to be a bit different from what Brooke had imagined it as but she doesn’t care, because it’s real. It’s happening.
Vanessa spins suddenly to face the doctor, holds up an accusatory finger that nearly makes him take a step backwards. “Are you sure? How do you know?”
“W-well, we’d done a blood test earlier to test her iron levels to see if that had a factor in her collapsing, and a certain hormone was elevated in her blood, one that is indicative of pregnancy-”
Brooke doesn’t even hear the rest of the doctor’s explanation because Vanessa’s kissing her again, resting a light hand on her stomach and holy fuck , she’s growing a baby and they’re having a baby, and-
Vanessa pulls back, grabs both of Brooke’s hands, squeezing them. The touch grounds her, bringing her attention back to the room, the ER room that feels almost ridiculous to be sitting in, because who cares about a small scrape on her forehead when they’re going to have a baby?
“Your First Lady is knocked up.” Brooke lets out a little giggle with the words, one that Vanessa mirrors because it feels surreal. Everything is surreal, and for a second Brooke forgets that Vanessa’s in charge of one of the most powerful nations on the planet, that her being in her second presidential term is going to make this process all the more public, put even more of a spotlight on them.
It doesn’t matter.
They’re going to be parents.

Macgyver Fanfic: Papa Jack
Jack stuffed another shirt into his bag as Riley packed her laptops up. They were gearing up for a mission, the two of them packing what they needed from tactical. The room was full of guns and mission essentials. Jack gestured across the room.
“Hey, can you pass that box over there?”
Riley turned and saw what Jack was pointing at and went to grab it, frowning down at the various objects in it.
“Why do you want a box of broken stuff? What is this? There’s like laser sights and a… is this a microscope?”
Jack took the box and pulled a few items out, stuffing them into his bag.
“Yeah, one of the lab techs broke it and doesn’t want to tell Matty that he dropped a piece of five-thousand-dollar lab equipment. I told him Mac would fix it.”
Riley looked down at the box again, noting the scribbled words on the side, in Jack’s handwriting.
‘Projects for Mac.’
She scoffed at the label and watched Jack rifle through it before settling the box back on its shelf.
“Why are we bringing it on a mission? Don’t you think he’s going to be busy enough as it is?”
Jack made a face at her, once that he’d given many times before. It was something between irritation and that fondness he got whenever talking about Mac.
“Man, have you ever seen how annoying he gets when he’s bored? He once got so bored on the plane ride home from a mission, that he took apart one of the T.V screen just to put it back together again. The pilot was not happy.”
Riley smiled, imagining how Jack would have told him off.
“So, you bring him toys to play with?”
Jack nodded, laughing at how much of a little kid Mac was.
“Hey, it keeps me sane, him occupied and everyone out of trouble for breaking things. Why do you think we have the paperclips in the war room? He’s always gotta be doing something.”
Riley nodded. She did notice the way Mac fiddled with those paperclips in very meeting. She pointed to the box of Mac’s projects.
“And does Mac know about that?”
Jack froze in his packing and turned to her with a sheepish expression.
“No, and don’t tell him, he’ll get embarrassed. Everyone knows Mac can fix whatever you put in front of him so I just told everyone to put the broken stuff in there for him, so that they don’t have to tell Matty. It’s a good system, so don’t tell him about it and screw it up, alright?”
Riley put her hands up in surrender.
“Alright, alright, geeze. You really are like a dad to him, aren’t you?”
Jack smiled, eyes crinkling. He loved his team mates and it was his job to take care of them, so by god he’d do it right.
“Papa Jack takes care of all his team mates, and that means you too little lady.”
He bumped his elbow against Riley as she laughed.
“Hey, no laughing. Show your father some respect.”
Riley had a complicated history with Jack, but she really did see him as the closest thing to a dad she’d ever had. Jack had felt that closeness and responsibility when he’d been dating her mother and hadn’t thought he was ready for that, that he wasn’t man enough. But in reality, he’d been slowly becoming the dad of the team ever since he met Mac.
Riley could see the way Jack took care of Angus but she didn’t think Jack really realized the father figure he was until someone pointed it out. He always insisted that it was part of his job but everyone knew it was more than that.
Even Mac saw Jack as a father figure, how could he not? His own father had left him with his grandad and he loved that man but no one had ever been more of a dad to him than Jack Dalton was.
Riley smiled to herself as she watched the two, Mac being the genius child that he was while Jack worried over him.
“Mac, no more okay? You need to eat.”
The team had been resting for the weekend, after a particularly stressful mission and Jack was insisting on taking care of his younger team mate. Mac was sitting on the floor, in front of his motorbike, one casted leg stretched out and resting on a pillow Jack had insisted on, as he tinkered with the engine.
He didn’t look up from his work as he answered.
“Uh, huh. In a minute.”
Jack sighed, irritated.
“No, Mac. Now. You’ve been working for hours, you need to eat something. Look at you, you’re skin and bones.”
Mac gestured wildly with his hands as he argued, making Jack angrier and Riley more amused.
“I’m fine, you need to stop worrying! I have a lot to do on this bike, okay? The engine is busted and the gears all need cleaning and- Jack!”
Jack had put down the plate and grabbed Mac under the arms, hauling up the kid from the ground and dragging him to the table. Mac grumbled and tried to get back to his work as Jack dropped him into a chair, careful of his injuries but with enough force that Mac knew he wasn’t getting out of it.
“You can go back to it later. Here wash your hands and eat your damn lunch, boy, I will not tell you again.” Jack threw a cloth down beside Mac plate and watched the kid with crossed arms. Mac glared at the man and received only a raised eyebrow for his trouble.
“Ugh, fine! I’ll eat, Jack, just calm down.”
Riley laughed again as Mac pouted and washed his hands, Jack scoffing at the comment.
“Me calm down? You’re the one that had to be dragged to the table, like a child. I shouldn’t have to remind you to eat every few hours, Mac.”
Angus frowned and looked at the clock.
“It hasn’t been…Oh. Sorry.”
Mac had a tendency to hyper focus on whatever he was working on and even the need to eat was lost on him if his mind was occupied. Riley had seen Jack push food on him before and knew their little routine.
Jack nodded and sat down next to the boy as he tore into his food, gently lifting Mac’s casted leg onto his knee to make him more comfortable. He pushed a glass across the table with one finger, trying not to sound too naggy as he added.
“Here, drink your milk.”
Of course, when Mac had finally eaten, and taken the pain meds Jack gave him, “I don’t need them.” “Well too bad, you know what the doctor said. So, suck it up and do what you’re told.” The kid was so exhausted Jack had to take him to bed.
Mac rubbed at his eyes as Jack lifted him carefully from the table, sighing as Mac insisted he was not, in fact, tired.
“I wanna finish the bike.”
Mac’s arm was slung around Jacks shoulders as he tried helping him to his room.
“You can finish it tomorrow, Mac.”
“Jack, come on I did what you asked, now let me finish it. I’m not a baby, I can make my own decisions.”
Jack laughed at that but relented, helping the kid back to the floor by his bike, and arranging the casted leg on the pillow once more. But it didn’t take very long for Angus to drift off. Riley was sitting on the couch, playing with some new coding while Jack watched T.V, and noticed Mac yawning and getting sloppier with his work. He kept dropping his tools and Riley turned to Jack to tell him, only to see the older man watching the kid closely.
He nodded to Riley, talking softly to her as they watched their boy genius’s eyes closed while he was screwing in a bolt.
“He’ll be out in two minutes, then I’ll take him to bed. But you have to let him wear himself out or he’ll just put up a fight.”
Mac blinked his tired eyes, desperately trying to keep them open, until he let out a huff and dropped his tools, giving up.
“Jack?” Riley smiled at her team mate as Jack went and knelt beside him. The poor guy was so tired, he could barely lift his head to look at him.
“Looks like it’s time for bed huh?”
Mac nodded and lifted his arms for Jack to carry him and Riley couldn’t help but smile at how adorable it was. Mac didn’t really like asking for help but it was easier when your partner already knew what you needed.
Mac was riding the wave of good pain meds as Jack took him to his room, tucking him into bed and making sure he was comfortable. Mac grunted as he shuffled around in bed, almost kicking Jack with his cast. The older man pushed his limbs back under the blankets as he grumbled.
“You’re more trouble than you’re worth, you know that?”
Mac sighed against his pillow, face smushed in the cotton.
“Yeah but you love me anyway, huh Jack?”
Jack smiled, unable to hide his affection for his team mate. He laid a big hand on Mac’s head, ruffling his hair in a way he’d never be permitted if Mac wasn’t so high.
Yeah, you know it brother.”
Jack was just about to leave when another sigh came from the young agent.
“Goodnight, Dad.”
Jack froze, watching the kid for any sign of a joke, but he was already asleep. Jack Dalton was no water baby but by god did that kid melt his heart.
“Goodnight, Mac.”
