Oh Right, It’s the End of 2019

I guess I should do a review thing.

My writing goal for the year 15,000 a month, or a total of 180,000 words for the year, and even though I hit the 180k handily, I didn’t hit the monthly goal, much less the daily goal, and in general I’m just frustrated and kinda grumpy about my writing. I’m glad the year is over, I can hit a bit of a reset button. I’m not gonna bother doing any end of year memes, but basically...

I’d really hoped to make serious inroads on closing out some of my old WIP, and not only did I fail at that (I only finished one), I also started like four stories that aren’t finished yet. I also lost NaNo, thoroughly and dismally, for the first time in five years. Which I think is why I feel like a failure, even though all things considered (and it was a pretty rough year) I did pretty well. We’ve had multiple housing things go wrong (including like 6 leaks) and the kids are...kid-like...and my wife has had a bad health year and I should be proud about how much I’ve done and instead I kinda feel like balls and that’s a problem.

So my 2020 goal is not to finish any WIP, or to write any specific amount a day, or to do anything except keep writing. I have a tentative plan, and a life schedule that should enable me to be more productive in the fall, but I’m done with the amount of pressure I’ve been putting on myself. I just want to write, and enjoy writing, and that’s that.
