They reach and grab for him, but he doesn’t even flinch as he is not afraid. He feels giddy- absolutely thrilled that he finally has the privilege to witness the carnage and wreckage. He feels a smile creep on his face. Yes he thinks, this is what it feels like to be-

Buck sits up jack straight in bed with a gasp, as if he has been electrocuted. Cold sweat drips down his face and soaks his sheets. He breathes hard, like he’s just run a marathon in his sleep. He closes his eyes and tries his hardest to get his heart rate back down. 1, 2, 3, 4…  he counts in his head, trying to distract himself from the visuals that have imprinted on his brain. He knows that after a few minutes he won’t even remember anything about the dream, but right in this moment it haunts him and makes his brain feel like it’s on fire. 

He doesn’t know how long he sits there for, just trying to remember how to breathe when his phone rings. He steals a quick glance towards his bed side and sees his boss’ name on the lockscreen. On autopilot, he reaches over to pick it up and notices the time; 6:45am.

Buck pinches the bridge of his nose, which is still a little damp. He’s gonna have to take another shower. “Um, no. I-I was already up.”

He hears Bobby pause on the other line, “Nightmares?” is all he asks. He’s known Buck for years and knows how prone he is to getting them. 

“Yeah. It’s all good, though. What’s up?” Buck would rather not dwell, yearning for a distraction from the images his mind has created for him. 

“I got a case for you- Haven, Maine. I’ve already emailed you the files. I need you to find one Jonas Lester and bring him back. That’s all.” Bobby says, insistently. 

Buck shrugs even though he knows Bobby can’t see him, “Sounds easy enough. I can be there in a few hours.” He’s already getting out of bed and aiming for the shower. 

“Sounds good. And Buck?” Bobby says and Buck stops to listen. 

“Focus on the job, alright?” Buck thinks Bobby’s words are strange; why wouldn’t he focus on the job? But his head is still muddled with twisted faces and claws reaching out for him, so he mumbles an affirmative and hangs up instead of asking.

Getting to Maine was a breeze, hardly any cars on the road and the scenic views were absolutely breathtaking. He finds his mood improving due to the fresh salt air flowing through the windows and settling over his skin. He hums along to the radio as his eyes excitedly jump over the mountainous views and the greenery surrounding him. As the song changes he thinks he sees a figure in the middle of the road. He gasps and then swerves hard to avoid collision. His rental car ends up nearly teetering the tip of a cliff. He briefly wonders how he’s going to explain this to the rental company when he hears a knock on the passenger side door and he jumps. 

“Need a hand?” Buck turns his head and thinks he’s stopped breathing. 

The stranger is quite possibly the most attractive man he’s ever laid eyes on. His hazel brown eyes, dark hair, and strong jaw makes him look like a supermodel. His dark brows furrow in concern at the lack of response from Buck, so Buck nods his head. 

The stranger nods back and disappears from the passenger window. Buck briefly thinks that the guy just up and fucking left him when he appears again at the driver’s side. He gestures to the locked door and Buck unlocks it. The stranger then reaches in the car and grabs Buck by the shoulder, hauling him out. When he turns around on solid ground, the car is already over the edge of the cliff. There go my new shirts he thinks morosely. 

“Damn,” the stranger starts. “Shame about the car.”

Buck shrugs, “Eh, it’s a rental.”

The stranger glances down and notices that Buck is armed, a gun holstered at his waist. He swiftly steps back and draws his weapon. 

“Woah! FBI! Who are you?” Buck exclaims as he draws his own. 

“Haven PD! Who are you?”

“I just said FBI! Are you deaf?” Buck says, exasperated. 

“Identification! Now!” the stranger demands. Buck starts to reach for his ID, which is in his upper right jacket pocket. The stranger starts to protest and Buck looks at him, annoyed. He puts his empty hand back up. 

“Dude, what am I gonna do? Pull out another gun?”

The stranger looks at him warily but nods to continue. Buck pulls out his badge, and brings it close to his face for ID comparison. The stranger squints, his eyes assessing. 

“Cmon, I showed you mine.” Buck gestures for him to take out his own badge. The stranger complies, flipping his badge to show his ID and brings it up to his own face. Eddie Diaz, the fine print reads. Buck lowers his gun and Diaz follows pursuit. 

“Sorry,” Diaz says, warily. “Can never be too careful, y’know?”

“Yeah, I get it.”

After a beat Diaz says, “need a ride?”

Buck is half tempted to be a brat and say duh, but he promised Bobby a long time ago he’d stop doing that because he’s an FBI agent and people need to “take him seriously”. Instead, he walks with Diaz towards his car. 

“Nice truck,” he says genuinely. 

“Thanks,” Diaz replies. “Had it since I was nineteen.”

Buck opens the passenger door and Diaz leans his hand on the frame, looking at the truck admiringly. 

Buck whistles, “how’d you keep a car that long?”

Diaz shrugs, “I don’t go driving off cliffs.” He says with a smirk and a teasing glint in his eye. Buck glares at him with no heat. 

“Too soon?” 

Buck rolls his eyes and slams the car door shut, not realizing Diaz hasn’t moved his hand from the frame. He promptly slams the detective’s fingers in the door. 

“Oh shit!” Buck says in a panic. “Dude, I’m so sorry! You okay?” 

Diaz doesn’t even flinch. “It’s alright. I’m fine.” He says nonchalantly. He then goes to the driver’s side and starts the car. Buck stares at him, confused. 

“Did you… did that not hurt?” 

“Nah, I’m good.” Diaz says, something guarded in his eyes.  

“Uhh, okay.” Buck says intelligently.  “Have you seen a guy named Jonas Lester recently?”

Diaz glances at him as he puts the car in drive, “Yeah, just left him.” He points the car towards town.

Last Series - Finally finished Stranger Things S4 two days ago. I had the ending ruined for me by someone on July 1st and out of protest didn't watch it for a while and finally found the strength to finish. But I'm almost done with season one of Hacks on HBO and am surprised how much I've enjoyed it so far.

Last Movie - unfortunate it was that last Doctor Strange movie. The multiverse of madness or whatever the fuck it's called. I have a lot of thoughts about how bad this was and its lazy ass writing and storytelling but I won't bore anyone with those opinions now....as if anyone will read this lol

Sweet/Spicy/Savory - I'm definitely a spicy/savory person. I do love a dessert don't get me wrong, but I have no problem saying no to one if offered and it's something gross like those supermarket sugar cookies. Oddly enough, as a chef, I prefer to bake when I'm upset or stressed. Love the precision of baking over the unpredictability of general cooking.

Currently Working On - Not a writer, my ADHD will just not allow me to sit still long enough to do it and I'm always bouncing from one idea to another. I do sometimes dream of helping some of the wonderful and endlessly talented writers on here or AO3 either as a beta (imma be honest I think I know what this means, but I'm probably wrong lol) or just a sounding board for ideas.

not that long, actually! while i’ve known about the series since like?? middle school?? I never actually started participating in the fandom space until around October of 2021! and even now i’m still like? tip toeing around bc im scared.

2. Who's your fictional boyfriend/husband?

I’ll be so honest with y’all rn. I don’t actually have a DL character that I like that much— I really just kinda cycle through them in terms of how much I like them. As of right now though?? Probably Ruki or Richter. (lol bitches with R names)

3. Why do you like them?

richter?? well I actually hated his guts more than any other character until recently. idk what changed to be perfectly honest with you. just kinda woke up one day and was like “mmm i’ll give him a chance.” i do like the potential for angsty scenarios though!

as for ruki, he’s also one i wasnt fanning over until recently. i didn’t hate him ofc, but the only content of him i really indulged in on up until now was the anime. and when i saw him in the show i was like “okay” then moved on. after reading his routes though? i started to like him a lot more 😞 and ofc Jas ( @ruki--mukami ) has a flawless portrayal of him that i feel in love with so 💃

4. Have you make acquaintance with anyone that ships themselves with the same character?

I have no idea if they ship themselves with the characters I listed, or if they’re just one of their favourites. But Ava ( @fruit-of-infidelity ) and Jas ( @ruki--mukami ) are two people i’m fortunate enough to be mutuals with :’).

i feel pretty great about it actually. it’s nice to find people who have the same amount of love for a character that you do 💃

as for a ship with myself? i don’t post much selfship content (even though i do have a blog for it). but i wouldn’t really mind whether people know abt it or not!

as for a ship with my oc(s)— Virek is relatively new. so i haven’t developed deep enough relationships to have a solid ship with him yet. HOWEVER! gwen, my old oc, had a few ships that i adored.

the top to being Ryuwen ( @fruit-of-infidelity ) and Myswen ( @mino-diabolik) ((did we ever come up with a ship name for them?? idk 🏃💨))

the dynamics in those two ships were to die for honestly. vv enjoyable! but i also can’t wait to build up relationships with this character as well 💃

lol, NO sjjsnd. i doubt someone would even try to copy my characters, given how complex and messy they tend to be

i have no idea. so we’ll cross that road when we get there.

generally all of them are public. but a lot of the relationship building with @simpemone ‘s characters are done in private. we do post a lot about our ocs publicly though— but if you’re wondering why those dynamics are much more developed than others jsns.

i like a lot of ships actually, both with my own ocs and some ships my mutuals have with their’s!! i don’t have the guts to tag any of them though so 💃

as for others? ig the behaviour i hate most is ‘claiming’ a character for yourself. getting insanely jealous when they interact with others, things like that.

disappointed?? i dont really have any specific moment where i feel disappointed. but it is annoying that a chunk of this fandom will not hesitate to jump down someone’s throat, instead of having civilised discussions.

the most excited? literally any blog that could be considered ‘popular’ or ‘big’ popping up in my notifs. like ik a few of my mutuals have bigger blogs, but when i first saw y’all in my notifs i was like “?!?!”

How do I get noticed and likes on tumblr? please i’ve been reblogging stuff and posting my books but idk not to do ;(– anon, also congrats on 6k you deserve it bb your last advice helped me! :D

i say this all the time that getting noticed on tumblr takes patience. like it's not going to happen overnight on in a span of two weeks. i wouldn't even say it's a 'getting noticed' type of thing on here, it's more of getting interactions and notes (mainly reblogs because tumblr is one of the only sites where people that follow you can not see your likes unless you have your likes public). although, those things make you motivated to do what you love which is write. don't let the lack of those things make you give up on what you like to do, which is writing. cause imma be honest with you, as the followers increase and stuff you begin to get the weird anons, be involved in discourse, one sided beef, etc. so keep that in mind when you're getting noticed and such. i would say interact with more people, a lot of writers on here do not mind you in their inbox. hell, it don't even have to be a writer. hit up a person who you see like your stuff frequently. i would also say join servers and communities. a lot of servers have channels where you can promote your work, get beta readers, and create bonds with others. you can always find people promoting their servers in the tags or even see people reblogging posts about servers.

Kyidyl Does Archaeology - Part 4

THE ARTEFACTS

Ok, so I’ve talked about the site and what we’ve been digging in and such, but I’m gonna be honest with you guys: I like lab work exponentially more than field work.  So I am the one who has been processing the vast majority of the finds and ergo have lots of stuff.  That’s why I sometimes make jokes about the stuff in my basement - I’m storing the majority of it here in my basement.  I’ve gotten the question before about ownership, so here is how that works.  The dig is on private land so anything we get technically belongs to the owner of the land.  Now, as far as I know, he has no interest in keeping any of it so it’ll likely end up in the hands of the arch society, who will basically just be custodians of it but not owners.  It might end up in a museum, too.  I don’t really know, but that determination won’t be made until we’re finished, and not by me.  

So every site has its own sort of categories of stuff that you find depending on who lived there (although for ease, archaeologists often categorize this stuff based on location and time - more on that later.).  For our site the majority of it falls into these categories: animal bone, shell, lithics, pottery, charcoal, modern contaminants, and artefacts.  And, to lend a bit of clarity here...lithics are anything made of rock.  So they include fire cracked rocks, flakes from stone tool making, material that was used in construction, material that was crushed to make temper for pottery paste (more on that later, too.), etc.  If it came from a rock it’s a lithic.  

And imma tell you a secret: I hate lithics.  Everyone has their thing, their category of human refuse that they simply do not like.  A prof of mine hated teeth and pottery.  That’s just how it is, and mine is lithics.  I think they’re boring, I can’t tell a flake from a blade, I don’t give a single fuck what material they are, I don’t care about the style or craftsmanship...I just don’t care.  I call them all rocks, and I do it so much that everyone on the site has started accidentally calling them rocks, too, which amuses me.  Rocks, to an archaeologist, means “stone that wasn’t altered or used by people”.  They’re worthless.  Not that I think lithics are worthless - far from it - I just really hate them and this site has so.  goddamned.  many.  Lucky for me, we have a Rock Guy aka someone who really loves lithics and actually has gotten pretty good at flint knapping and just, y’know, is really into rocks.  

And to clarify about artefacts.  When you’re out in the field everything you find is either an artefact or a find.  The collection of these things is called an assemblage.  When you’re doing lab work and sorting through it all later on an artefact is, well...like a thing.  I’m explaining this poorly....it’s a complete object with a specific function.  So, a whole pot = artefact, broken pieces = sherds (not shards, sherds.). Complete arrowhead = artefact, flakes or a broken one = lithic.  Artefacts also tend to be somewhat unique, or at least something you don’t have a lot of.  They don’t always have to be complete, anything that is a specific object can go in here.  Like, for example, this piece of pipe we found: 

To recap, we’ve got pottery, charcoal, lithics, shell, bone (animal - we haven’t found human. But I’m just gonna say bone.), and artefacts.  If you are sensitive to things like that, this is your warning that this post is going to have pictures of animal bone and you should scroll quickly.  

Now, for reference, this is what it all looks like before I clean it and after it’s been dying out for a day or two (the ground has natural moisture, so I basically just open the bags and let them air out.): 

And, yes....I am cleaning them off on an actual antique blotter with real silver edges that my mom gave me for this express purpose.  A factoid I’m only sharing because it amuses me in that sort of “bet they never envisioned this use for this thing” sort of way.  Normally, if I was in a real lab, you’d do this over a metal tray.  When you’re working with an assemblage you never hold it over empty space, you always hold it over the bench and preferably over whatever your work surface is.  That doesn’t mean I haven’t dropped my fair share of stuff anyway, but most of it just lands on the work surface and not the floor, which is why you hold it over a work surface.  But anyway, as you can see, it just looks like a brown, dirty mess.  I usually do a quick sort of the stuff I know for sure what it is and then I wash it with a soft toothbrush and some water.  The rocks I just submerge and swoosh around because they’re rocks and I can’t really damage them and there’s SO FRIKKIN MANY that I refuse to clean them individually.  

So now that you’ve gotten through that long-winded but necessary explanation of terms, where are we at? Since I’m a bioarchaeologist and I prefer things that were once alive to the general detritus of human society, we’re gonna start with the bone.  Specifically, we’re gonna start with how I know those two pits from yesterday’s post are one pit.  This is how: 

This is a deer bone.  Don’t ask me which one bc I’m really not good at ID’ing species and animal anatomy, but it’s a leg bone of some kind.  See how it’s broken? One piece was found in one hole and the other piece was in the other.  Clearly it’s the same animal, ergo the pits are related to each other.  The vast majority of what came out of that particular feature was bone, with the rest being charcoal and the occasional pot sherd.  This means it was probably used for cooking and not as a garbage pit. Also there was food in it, if you recall the cooking accident from yesterday.  but sometimes y’know, stuff falls into the fire pit or it’s put in there as a way of disposing of it.  

But wait, I have more cool animal bones!! 

Ok, so there’s this one: 

This bone has a special place in my heart. IDK what species it is (I *think* it’s a fragment of deer long bone.), but that’s not why it’s cool.  This single bone is strong evidence for the presence of dogs.  =D See that circular mark on the right? That is the impression of a canine tooth from a carnivore.  Human teeth can’t make those marks in bones - our teeth aren’t strong enough to do significant damage to bone, and anyway we tend to crack bones open with rocks (a form of damage called percussion marks.) and not with our teeth.  Those other longer scratch marks are also likely from chewing, not butchery, because they’re in the right places and they’re the right shape.  Now we know this was a settlement, and this bone was found smack in the middle surrounded by human detritus and not on the fringes or outskirts.  There were no domesticated felines in the Americas at the time BC this is from the lower pre-contact level, so what’s really the only carnivore that would be wandering around a human settlement? Dogs.  I love this kinda stuff because it’s so easy see them chilling around the fire pit, talking and eating, teasing whomever it was that spilled dinner, and then tossing the bones to their dogs to gnaw on after dinner.  It’s just such a people kind of thing, you know? All from one small, circular mark.  I actually found more on later bones that came out of other places, so it’s pretty safe to say there were dogs living here with their people even though we have found neither people nor dogs.  

So here’s another cool bone: 

Again, no idea what species it is bc I’m not a zooarch (yes, there are archaeologists that specialize in animals and wooooo boy can they tell you a LOT about migration and eating habits of people.). It’s about the size of half my thumb, IE, not large.  This one is cool, and it’s the only one I have like this, because of that notch you can see vertically in the image on the right hand side.  I don’t know what it was for, but I DO know that it was an intentionally made modification to the bone.  Those striations aren’t natural - natural bone is smooth or has a very specific texture and this isn’t that.  It’s probably not damage done to the bone after it was deposited in the archaeological record.  It has the same patina as the majority of the rest of the bone, which you can compare to the lighter area there on the right hand end of the bone.  That lighter area does not have the patina of age that the rest of the bone does, and is the result of damage in a much more recent time - probably as we were taking it out of the ground.  Small bones are fragile.  So someone gouged this channel intentionally in this bone, either because they were going to use it as decoration or it served some purpose as a tool.  I’m not really sure what though.  Hell, they could have just been bored and fidgeting after eating.  Either way, it’s a human modification to this bone that has nothing to do with cooking or consumption (damage from human consumption is cracks and breaks, not scrapes.).  It could also be a butchery mark, although it’s a bit deep for that.  Butchery marks are there from separation of meat from bone - they’re usually just shallow scrapes.  

Ok, last cool bone I’m gonna show you.  Well, bones, plural.  

Ok so this is part of the same assemblage as the ones above, and if I remember correctly these were the ones that came out of that pit.  You can see the same bone with the canine tooth mark there in the center.  There’s also some interesting things like some pottery on the left and a couple teeth off to the right (one is a deer and I *think* that curved on is a squirrel.), but the really interesting thing is the series of 3 shiny bones that are in the center.  There’s a lot of ways to cook meat, and they all do different things to bones.  You will often find the dry, brown looking ones like you can see here in the non-shiny bones. That’s like...your basic “this bone had meat on it when it was cooked”. Then you’ll see ones that are black, and that’s “this bone probably didn’t have meat when it was cooked, or someone tossed it back in the fire when they were done”. Lastly, you’ll see white bone, and that’s a bone that has been burned at a high temperature for a long time.  Usually it’s done on purpose (you can use burned, powdered bone to make stuff.).  

But the shiny ones were in a soup.  And the reason I know that is *because* they’re shiny.  Bones, especially old ones, aren’t shiny.  I mean...you can see that.  You have to do stuff to ‘em.  And bones are porous, but those weren’t.  They felt like hard plastic. And they get that way by being boiled.  The shiny patina is what we call pot polish - they were stirred in the soup while it was cooking and rubbed against the side of the pot and each other, and it gives them a smoother texture.  

All of these collections of bones tell us what and how they ate things.  I know from what I can ID here (which isn’t everything, trust me.) that they ate a lot of deer and wild turkey (we have an entire almost completely intact turkey long bone.). There is also, I believe, squirrel (I found a portion of a skull and jaw that I’m pretty sure belong to a squirrel), and an assortment of other small rodents and birds.  Lots of birds.  Bird bone is really distinctive, it’s light and the spongy bone has a distinct texture.  A zooarchaeologist can look at bones like this and ID species and age, and from there tell you what time year something was probably killed.  Societies that hunted a lot tended to do it seasonally so that they wouldn’t damage the populations.  Plus especially with fish and stuff they have very specific growing cycles and short lifespans, so they can also tell you a lot about where the people were hunting and when.  Like certain fish will only spawn in certain places, so it’s really informative.  Zooarchs are so important and there just aren’t enough of them.  

Anyway, there are other cool things in the bones but I’m trying to strike a balance here between too much and not enough and I really love bone so I’m going to stop here for today.  Tomorrow is going to be other artefacts (yeah, sadly, even lithics, lol), and what they tell us about the site and the people who lived there.   As an aside: if anyone has any like just general “how do they know this?” sort of questions about history and archaeology those would be fun to answer.  I love to tell people how we do things but I don’t just wanna infodump.  I DO want to explain procedure in what I hope is a readable way because I think understanding how we make the sausage will help people have more trust in science.  So if you have any questions, please, send asks.  If I don’t know the answer I’ll research it or pass it on to someone who does.

as a born and bred Jujutsu Sorcerer, you honestly should’ve known better than to eat Sukuna’s goddamn finger. but in your defence, it was a stressful moment and the only other option was to die, let the cursed spirit eat the finger and inevitably kill Fushiguro Megumi—your only friend and someone who could probably keep the cursed spirit at bay long enough to escape

essentially it was: get killed and greatly inconvenience your friend or eat the finger and die and only somewhat inconvenience your friend

the only thing you did not anticipate was survive eating the finger, killing the cursed spirit in one hit and verbally abusing Sukuna until you regained control of your body

well… shit

life hasn’t changed that much if you were being honest, except now as the vessel of the King of Curses, the threat of being exterminated by the wise old elders was greater than before; but you don’t let that bother you too much since—

“So, if I eat all the fingers and Sukuna doesn’t take over my body… they’ll let me live?”

“That’s what they claim but we both know they’ll actually do,” your mentor and guardian Gojou Satoru said after returning from an emergency meeting with the people he despised the most. you could tell how pissed he was just by the slight inflection of his voice

“But I won’t let them lay a single finger on you,” he ruffled your hair, “got it?”

“Him.” Sukuna’s voice echoes in your head on one of your off days. hiding your mouth behind the bun you’re munching on, you ask him what he means

“The table across from you. That boy. He could have been my vessel.”

“… and?”

“… he’s interesting. Befriend him.”

“What? No, you absolute menace!” you don’t realise you’ve raised your voice until you notice a pair of wide brown eyes stare back at you. feeling your face heat up, you quickly stand and leave the cafe, tragically abandoning the super delicious chocolate bun half-eaten on the plate

“You’re attracted to him. Befriend him and it’ll benefit the both of us, you fool.”

“How exactly will it benefit you? And it’s too late. I’m not going back, not for the boy and not for my poor, poor choc bun :(”

you make it like, a few hundred metres before you feel a tap on your shoulder. when you turn around, it’s the boy holding your bun in a takeaway bag. he smiles like an idiot and though it feels like a huge mistake, you allow yourself the luxury of his company

shortly after you mean, during one of your many late night texting sessions, you learn that he had to move to Tokyo with his grandfather to seek better medical treatment

when Gojou learns of your new friend, he gets super annoying (even more so than usual, basically) and makes a habit of spending more time with Megumi, claiming that you “don’t need both of them anymore ;—;” because you’ve “moved on to greener pastures”

but in all seriousness, he’s glad you’re making more friends. he’s done research on Itadori Yuuji and concludes that you’ll be alright

the first time you go out together, Yuuji sheepishly tells you he needs to drop by the hospital to give his grandfather some sliced fruits

“It’s okay if you don’t wanna follow, though—”

it takes you, like, ten whole minutes to convince him that you’ll be happy to meet his grandpa, though you have no choice but to withhold another big reason for wanting to tag along

as suspected, Yuuji’s grandfather’s being weighed down by a couple of small fry cursed spirits which you swiftly eliminate when they both have their backs turned to you—or so you think

unbeknownst to you, Yuuji saw the way you glared at the corner of the room, noticed how you did some odd hand gestures and how—almost instantly—his grandfather said: “is your girlfriend a lucky charm? my chest feels so light all of a sudden.”

[12:33PM] Yuuji: thanks for coming with me to the hospital today. my grandfather seems to really like you :) sorry he kept calling you my girlfriend

[12:34PM] (Y/N): no problem, i like him as well :D and it’s alright

Sukuna doesn’t say it but he has no idea why he told you what he did. it doesn’t matter to him what happens to Itadori Yuuji and yet his gut tells him he needs to be kept alive. so, in a strange turn of events, he tells you where to go

sure enough, you find him fighting off a grade 1 cursed spirit in an alleyway, still alive and kicking despite being seemingly beaten within an inch of his life

although you’re a grade 2 Sorcerer, with Sukuna telling you what to do in your head, you win the battle with only severe bruises and maybe a hairline fracture somewhere

“Where do you live?” you ask and he points at a small house just across the alleyway. “Get your things, you’re coming with me tonight.”

he listens and walks quietly beside you as you make your way back to school

“Are you okay?” you ask once the adrenaline of it all has somewhat subsided

you can’t help but feel responsible for it all, knowing the cursed spirit must’ve hunted him down believing he’d lead him to you—the Sorcerer with Sukuna’s scent written all over you

before Yuuji can lie and say yes, he trips over his own feet but you catch him before he hits the ground

you decide to carry him the rest of the way, giving him a piggyback, his feet just barely off the ground due to your height difference

“What are you?” he asks softly, arms wrapped around your neck as the side of his head rests against your own

“I’ll tell you later. I don’t know if you’ll believe me, though.”

“I will,” he says without missing a beat, “I trust you.”

“It was most likely my fault you got hurt, you know?” you admit dryly, aware that you wouldn’t be able to forgive yourself if you kept it a secret him him

“Yeah…” Yuuji sighs and it stings, not gonna lie, but then he continues: “but you’re carrying me right now… and you helped my grandfather, didn’t you?”

“… yeah.”

he hums softly, feeling his eyelids grow heavy, “that’s enough for me… Thank you.”

you feel him press his lips to your neck before his head lolls forward. your heart nearly stops before an overwhelming sense of relief washes over you when you feel his chest rise and fall steadily

your knees feel like they’re on the verge of giving out but his body is so warm and his kiss made your heart flutter like never before, so, you carry him the rest of the way knowing that you’ll gladly do the same in the future with no hesitation

Asahi- Our favorite glass hearted ace loves if you are confident, optimistic and honest.  He needs that person to pump him up when he’s feeling down, especially when Noya isn’t around(ehh? ehh? see what i did there?).  You’re kinda like his motivator, and you help him become more confident with his work, or just your relationship in general.  Your confidence is contagious, and you’ll often offer to be his model to give him feedback and help boost his spirit. (He loves seeing you in his work too!) (jesus i love him)

Iwaizumi- Iwa love it if you are motherly.  If you are dating, you both go to bully Oikawa, or rather, he goes bullies him into line and you scold him with reason.  For instance, when he goes out to take him back from the fangirls, you tag along.  He bullies him, and you scold him on the way back.  You also scold Iwa for hitting him, but not as much as you do Oikawa for dawdling.  (Iwaizumi REALLY wants to marry you.)

Yamamoto(imma try...)- He loves if you are energetic like him yet thoughtful.  He loves you because you cheer the loudest for Nekoma, and you constantly are jumping, and exaggerating your emotions.  You cheer with his sister and when the match is over, no matter the outcome, you run up to him and tell him what you loved about the match, showing the attention you put into him.

Futakuchi- He will fall head over heels over someone who can stand up for themselves and has really good retorts.  He saw you talking- like a full conversation- to Aone, and when someone came over to ask you how and why, you literally just told them, “shut up, it’s not that hard, he’s human too, whereas you’re more like a monkey or gorilla.”  He and you like to tease people a lot, and you guys tease each other just as much.

Bokuto- Passion.  Passion.  Passion. Bonus if you have the Akaashi trait and can make him feel better in a flash.  Man, this man loves your passion.  If you didn’t like volleyball before, you definitely are immersed in it.  You don’t half-heartedly enjoy things, it’s literally all or nothing.  You also can be very caring, so when he loses a match, or just isn’t really himself that day, you can always cheer him up, whether it’s with his favorite food, wearing his jersey, and even something as simple as holding his hands and kissing him on the nose, slightly tiptoeing in order to reach it.

Sakusa- Surprisingly enough, he isn't gonna expect you to be as clean as him. He understands that you can’t be that clean all the time, but if you do small things, like clean the vegetable properly or do chores with him, he would really appreciate that.  He will teach you about how to properly clean things, and you have small cleaning dates.  He also loves it if you just cuddle with him after a shower(maybe together🥺?) He also likes it if you don’t constantly base your relationship on cleaning, but more intimate and small moments.

Ushijima- KINDNESS.  This man LOVES someone who is kind, and, to be honest, someone who dotes on him(and cheerful).  He doesn’t know it at first, but he’s a huge cuddle monster.  He comes home? Cuddles.  He’s right next to you? Cuddles.  Even if you just show up to practice,  C U D D L E S.  He loves your kindness too.  Like, adores it.  Even simple stuff like smiling at a baby, or treating him to dinner even though he has more money.  Getting him thoughtful gifts like a small picture book with the two of you in it so when he’s away, he can just look at it to cheer him up.  You attend as many matches as you can, and sometimes hang out with them.  You know that one scene where he and tendou are like, “we’re best friends”, in the future?  Yeah, you’re watching them, and right after they say that, you practically lunge yourself at them to hug them, squealing at how cute they are. (I cannot stress how much i love Ushijima)
