Good news! Not only did I have ONE packet of sazón left in the cupboard, I also had all the right bulk spices (except I couldn't find the saffron 😔) to bulk the packet up to enough for flavoring a whole 2.5cups of rice, so I'm gonna get to have as much yellow rice as I want this weekend 🍽

The chicken got a key lime and herb dressing marinade curtesy of wifey, so I added a little salt, a smidge of lemon pepper, and a coat of blackening spice and am letting it simmer in a layer of oil on the stove. Once that's done I'm gonna pull and slice the chicken, add some balsamic vinegar and pink peppercorns to the drippings in the pan, then dump the cucumber slices I made up into those to fry up real quick

Ahhhhh man, I really missed an opportunity to have done a dairy/gluten-free version of a buttermilk chicken cutlet, goddamnit!!!

Well, the good news is, everyone loved the key lime dressing, so I'm sure we'll get it again if the gentleman who sells them at market has them in stock again, and I never DON'T have gf breading crumbles of some sort around, even if it's corn grits or masa harena, or almond-potato flour blends.

Ah, fuck I keep meaning to do the peach compote and I keep being too busy lmao, Imma really need to buckle down on that tomorrow, or the remaining peaches will have fully gone off. Maybe I'll see if any of the crabapples out front are ripe, I bet a spiced peach-apple compote would be to DIE for over street corn biscuits....it's been ages since I made a good batch of drop biscuits, I bet the spices I'm using tonight would actually be perfect for it too. I dunno how I feel about there being meat drippings in the compote, but I don't actually think it'll be a bad thing? Hmm. I may not risk it. We'll see. I am definitely gonna match the spices to street corn drops tho, cuz I absolutely want to try that combo.

I wonder if we have any good roots that I could bake up with heuvos rancheros for it? I know we're out of rutabagas and sweet potatos, and I'm not actually sure if we got carrots or not. Maybe I'll stop by the community fridge later this week to see if anyone has donated roots we could use. I bet a radish or rutabaga or maybe even turnip would do well.

OH THIS LOOKS SICK... I love the almost body-horrorish rose coming out of her eye, it adds a lot of uniqueness to her design! The colours are also just so lovely, with the soft reds and pinks. She definitely gives off 'cute but will kill you' vibes, I love it. 10/10 would let her murder me

Puffy-

SWIRLS! Oh i love the hair in this one, the rainbow is beautiful! Also you just. Draw pirate outfits SO WELL. Like hot damn. Lemme save this to my art references real quick. Also i know I mention the colours a lot but the dusky red-pink? Stunning. She looks so confident too! 10/10 would also let her murder me (I'm a simple woman okay)

Purpled-

ALIEN BOY! Oooo I love the little star halo so much, it looks so pretty and really adds to his design. Also, light up sketchers... your boy be stylin. 10/10 looks like he'd tell me arcane secrets behind a servo, drink an entire grape fanta, then lift into the air slowly while the X-files theme plays and disappear. He also kinda looks like he's absolutely blasted on somethin but i don't know what. Love he.

Ponk-

Ohhhh i love this one too! I love the stripes on his doctors coat, they bring his design together so well. And the little details? Superb. I swear to god you just keep knocking me away with how much thought you put into your character designs. His little cat patch... and the potion... and his little mushroom..! The idea of a Nether-themed Ponk is so cool... art inspo time OwO? 10/10 i would trust him to give me heart surgery (he's already stolen it <3)

Callahan-

Yooo! I dont often see unique designs/ideas for callahan, but this is so cool. The idea of Callahan just being like... a casual god is so funny. Like he's got complete power over the servers code but he's doing it on monster, doritos, and spite. The hoverboard is also rad. 10/10 probably gets chip crumbs in the DSMP code

Alyssa-

Another character i don't see much of, but I love what you've done with her! You are so right, the outfits looks super cool, and I love the trenchcoat. 10/10 kinda gives me anime character vibes? But like in the 'secondary character that everyone likes more than the protag vibes.' Silent badass.

Hbomb-

You have truly done him justice... The blues and the beiges complement so well, and his outfit in general is just so cute. And his cat shoes..! He's even got a little heart in his tail, that's adorable. 10/10 I would kill and die for him. I love him so much.

Foolish-

Kronk vibes, definitely. And sableeye is one of my fav pokemon so seeing a design partially inspired by him was like :o! Himbo rights, and i love his shark cloak, its so cute. 10/10 Would also kill and die for him. I am officially part of the Hbomb and Foolish protection gang. (Of one)

a bad batch gif tutorial.

imma keep it real with u chiefs, this is a learning experience for me too, so take this more of a guide than a tutorial ( yeah i know they mean the same thing , and what about it ) ? let’s go ! sorry for the mess in advance !

some quick notes.

1. this isn’t necessarily faster than making gifs, the only difference is that you can do stuff while ur gifs are being made in the bg. to make about two hundred and sixty gifs as i did today, it took altogether about four and a half hours, the only difference was that for three and a half hours i could do other stuff!

2. i’m kinda a mess who doesn’t know how to explain things properly, so instead of like, ya know claiming any sort of authority, i’m more so jus bringing y’all along on my giffing travels. we hit some speed bumps, we fawn over michael shannon, but ultimately, foreknowledge abt photoshop, gifs and actions will work in ur favour. 

what you’ll need.

MAC USERS: imovie/final cut pro ( optional ), quicktime ( mandatory - but it comes with ur mac so um ahjdf ) and photoshop ( cs5/cs6 )  WINDOWS USERS: kmplayer or any program that can cut clips and photoshop ( cs5/6 ) 

DISCLAIMER: there’s gonna be a lot of these but that’s not the disclaimer tehe. i’m using cs5, but i’d highly rec cs6. this is because, as far as i believe cs5 has a glitch in which the default save setting is for the gif to loop once, and when changing it to forever it won’t be picked up by the action. i’ve looked into it and it seems unique to cs5 and makes me wanna die ! so cs6 is ur friend . also , u might be thinking , why do you , tasha , a native english speaker have a version of photoshop in french ? and to that , i say , it is the price one pays when they do not pay . my assigned fbi agent is v disappointed in me . i’ll try to translate as best as possible . 

FIRST, you’re gonna wanna download your shit, and make sure it’s in mp4, we don’t fuck with mkv. this very first step is optional but ultimately you’re going to want to clip your video so that each clip = 1 gif, and you can do that by either trimming straight from quicktime (ctrl-t) or do what i do, clip the scenes and then trim in quicktime. 

FINAL CUT PRO: is that i use to clip the scenes, it’s rough and choppy but the reason i don’t clip straight from quicktime, is because scrubbing through a two hour movie on quicktime is hell. anyways, snip snip the scenes and save it and then open it in QUICKTIME. there, you can snip away. i’m boring and name my clips chronologically ( 1,2,3 - as if u don’t know what chronologically means i’m sorry ), and then put them in a folder, equally boringly titled. 

protip: three seconds is a nice number, well within the gif limit range but long enough to not make your gif look choppy, because i’m lazy, i tend to border on four-five seconds, never going over five. two seconds is usually fine, and one … well it happens sometimes.

**NOTE: to avoid having crop being included in my action ( since charas usually never favour the centre which means that not being able to change where ur cropping - b/c we’re batch making ) , i try to make sure i never work with anything with black bars . 

p.s - i ended up having to add crop to my action b/c this download had a headass resolution (as seen above) , my action is set to resize to 268px in width and adjust it’s height accordingly, which for this headass resolutioned dl ended up looking really weird . this was my first of many obstacles :) :) 

in retrospect i think i could’ve saved a lot of time if i just clipped the scene’s instead of clipping michael within the scene as well. ugh , reflection and learning from mistakes am i rite ?

this part takes a while and it’s fookin boring, but this is almost the extent of your own effort . i formally apologize for the absolute clusterfuck of the next picture, i’ll try and dissect it for y’all but it’s illegible even to me . but .. . uh .. visual learners am i rite ?

SECOND, making the action. this isn’t so much a gif tutorial as an action tutorial ((i thought you said this was a batch tutorial) i don’t know what i’m doing)), but the easiest way i can explain this is pasting a screenshot and then dissecting it, so here goes. also if you don’t know how to use actions … um … i’ll try and give a brief overview but there are plenty of awesome tutorials online.

part 1 of the action: making the actual gif. as it is recording, make a gif how you usually would. for me, this involves:

flattening the clip -> creating new layers -> changing the speed -> setting it to loop forever -> selecting all layers -> converting it back and then converting it into a time line -> resizing -> adding the sharpening.

part 2 of the action: the colouring. this is where you let your creativity shine, because if you were thinking of using a psd, think again bitches! unfortunately i have yet to find a way to drop a psd onto an action, and have it record properly. i do believe there is a way but my two brain cells have been begging me not to exhaust them any longer. i’ll update this if i figure out how to incorporate a pre-made psd into an action.

open a clip, this’ll be ur test run to make sure your action is working properly and you like ur colouring enough that you won’t regret it when u have 300 gifs with that same colouring ( foreshadowing xD ) record your colouring as you’re colouring your clip, and put it onto your base action at the part right before you save. test a few gifs, u wanna be REALLY sure u like ur colouring . 99 homes is a beautifully bright movie, with only one dark scene, so my general caution was avoiding over exposure . as u can see , the one dark scene suffered dhfjg so i went in knowing i might have to alter the colouring of the scene after .

THIRD, automize for batching bitches. we gonna dissect another diagram because i know y’all are visual learners. the key thing is to his the ‘prioritize save for web’ checkbox otherwise it’ll ask you is you want to save every gif as a psd, i learned this the hard way. also, i usually select my destination as the desktop, because it’s safe and in the open uwu.

i think in english that’s: file, automate, treat by batch? UHHH , just follows the visuals!

here’s what it looks like in action, cs5 truly looks like some medieval software amazing . also i didn’t kno the audio was recording , good thing i have stellar music taste :weary: 

so yeah, it took THREE HOURS to make 279 gifs, but you know what i did in that time ? i showered , i brushed my teeth , i contemplated reading a book but didn’t , i contemplated doing my replies i didn’t , i watched at least ten different marvista trailers , i drafted my replies , i looked for food , found no food , laid on my bed , contemplated my existence , looked for food , watched an episode of b99 , contemplated doing replies , and ... so yeah it’s not like i used the saved time to do anything productive , but it’s the thought that counts !

FOR CS5 USERS, THE FUN AIN’T OVER YET !

three hours have passed, and you’re ready for your gifs. but alas, that loop thing i mentioned? yeah, more likely than not your gifs are only going to loop once. to fix this, i basically made another action that puts the loop on forever, and that seems to stick. put that through the batch, and finally u have ur gifs. thankfully it doesn’t take as long, to switch 279 gifs it took about fifteen minutes. 

NOW WHAT? QUALITY CHECK.

uk how i said u wanna make sure ur colouring is bomb af , yeah well , mine wasn’t , that’s why we got jesus incarnated over here walking the streets of orlando, florida. i tried to fix it, version two, but i ended up scrapping them altogether because they were super grainy, and he’s one hood away from me making a slippery slope joke . 

what about deep friend shannon ? :( 

i did indeed manage to pull him from the fryer, and there were abt forty gifs in that dark scene so i made an action and put it through the batch to fix them all, it took about five minutes. i truly do have a talent for making michael look way redder than he is , but he’s from kentucky goddamit ): 

do u see this ? how they’re stopped . yeah so when i did the coloring action and batched it, cs5 re-defaulted to looping once . am i having a trisha paytas meltdown ? maybe so ! point is , checking ur gifs quickly b4 u post them is important , and some gifs can’t be saved, sorry jesus!michael . also cs5 can literally . . jus .. die .
