I'm awfully picky about poetry. Most cute little books of children's poems don't appeal to me at all. I need the brilliantly subversive humour of a Shel Silverstein, or the clever wordplay of a Jack Prelutsky or Calef Brown. So my expectations were low when I opened Chris Harris's "I'm Just No Good at Rhyming: And Other Nonsense for Mischievous Kids and Immature Grown-ups" (2017). Wow, was I surprised!! 📚📚📚 Harris is UNQUESTIONABLY a worthy successor to all of the above. Illustrated simply with Lane Smith's fabulous artwork, the book is reminiscent of Silverstein's best, full of silliness, smart wordplay, and themes that will resonate with parents and kids.
