Okay! This takes place post Marineford and around the Dressrosa arc. Just because I feel like it has to I think. I did not mean to make it this long but the brainrot took over-

Your first encounter with both pirates was no doubt at Marineford during the Paramount War.

Many big shot pirates were there so it was only natural you would be.

Pirate Warlords were there... even Pirate Emperors eventually.

All had come for one reason or another.

You included, after all, this was a huge prison break.

Many pirates originally in Impel Down were freed when Luffy came in to release Ace.

Maybe you were also freed or just came to Marineford to investigate the fighting.

You're quite a strong pirate yourself, with your own crew and everything.

It was only natural you'd meet Luffy, let alone Law.

The Straw Hat Pirates have been making quite a name for themselves.

So meeting Luffy was partially out of curiosity...

Along with the fact he was asking for help in all of the fighting with the Marines.

Deciding to get a feel for the rookie pirate, you comply and agree to help to test his abilities.

You fight beside Luffy until the eventual death of Ace and Whitebeard.

Which leads to you helping Jinbe and Buggy escort him to Law, a supposed doctor.

By this time, you weren't very acquainted with either pirate.

Yet you make an impression on Luffy at the very least.

Law didn't see much of you... although remembers you later on.

Once you retreat to your ship after helping, you silently wonder if you'll ever meet those two again.

Both pirate Captains intrigued you with their skills and part of you actually roots for Luffy and his goals.

You hear nothing from either pirate until around two years later.

It's then you hear of news around Punk Hazard.

It seems the Straw Hat Pirates have been seen there... along with Law.

Isn't it time you pay a little visit out of curiosity?

You end up meeting them all after the events of Punk Hazard.

Luffy seems to recognize you, Law does a bit but doesn't react much.

At first it's thought that you want to fight...

However, you explain you came to meet again.

Luffy remembers you from Marineford, you helped him against all the Marines... even if the task is futile.

The young pirate is no doubt excited because he knows you and Law saved his life.

Since Luffy already allied himself with Law to take down Doflamingo...

Imagine if he asks you to join them?

This request baffles Law and you.

Law doesn't quite trust you yet, why the hell would Luffy immediately ask for your help to take down a Warlord!?

You could be working with Doflamingo for all they know!?

However... You laugh.

Law can't tell if it's a nervous laugh or a genuine laugh.

It doesn't help that Luffy is giggling too.

Doflamingo... You weren't expecting to be asked to help him.

But, hey, how could you turn down the alliance?

It could give you a chance to know about them both... and perhaps even watch as Doflamingo gets taken down a few pegs.

Plus, if more marines show up, you'll find a way to deal with them.

So... you end up saying yes.

This excites Luffy... and intrigues Law.

This is how you bond with the two pirate Captains... an alliance to take down Doflamingo... which soon turns into trying to take down the Emperors.

Luffy is naturally excited and friendly.

He's always that way towards new allies.

Law, on the other hand, is more cautious.

He doesn't trust many, then again he doesn't like getting attached either.

He doesn't like to show he's compassionate either, believing pirates shouldn't behave like civilians.

As an ally to them, you spend a lot of time speaking to these Captains.

You're formally with them from Punk Hazard/Dressrosa on.

While you are and independent crew from Luffy, similar to how Law is with his Heart Pirates, you aid the Straw Hat however you can.

Which, of course, leads to some unhealthy attachment.

Luffy soon becomes obsessive about his new ally.

While you are a girl whom he finds appealing, He doesn't really experience romantic attraction.

Like I said in other concepts, Luffy's oblivious.

You originally intend to just be someone he can call on for aid.

Instead, you end up being like a sibling or best friend to him.

You can't help but look out for the young pirate rookie.

You're around Law's age, in your twenties.

While Luffy is nineteen, you still tend to see him as a younger brother at times.

Especially with how often you have to pull him from trouble.

Luffy, in response, always likes to call you 'Sis' or 'Sister' affectionately.

When you all meet Sabo, Sabo even finds this amusing if not endearing that Luffy sees you like a big sister.

Law, however, doesn't take the platonic route.

Law's tried his hardest to keep his guard up around you, not wanting to be too close.

He's lost people he's loved... it isn't worth it.

Many see him as sadistic anyways, even if he hates needless murder.

Yet the more he tries to not be close, the more Luffy ends up encouraging you three to be around one another.

Law swears it's like Luffy knows about his conflict.

He hates to show a softer side... He's meant to be a ruthless pirate.

But you keep acting all friendly and his damn heart won't stop thumping.

Does he like you because he finds you an attractive woman?

Does he like you because you're actually helping him and Luffy?

Law hates to admit it... but he enjoys this alliance more than he thought.

Luffy doesn't really pick up on it much.

Sanji certainly has bigger reactions to women.

Law... Law's more subtle, with small smiles and protective behavior.

He's nowhere near as affectionate as Luffy, but he wishes he could bring himself to express his feelings more.

Luffy has a tendency to wrap himself around you tightly, screaming your title of 'sister' whenever he sees you.

Admittedly you feed into it... accepting the title... not knowing you're making Luffy more clingy.

While Luffy doesn't quite understand romance, he supports Law's obsession.

When Luffy brings it up, it often makes Law snap.

You can't hear about how he feels!

Yet Luffy doesn't get it, often mentioning how Law is around you.

Law tries to show you he cares through being protective.

Although... When fighting alongside you... He seems oddly... harsh?

Not to you, no, the enemy.

Oof... Imagine if you tried to help against Doflamingo, only to be injured?

While Luffy ends up concluding the fight for many reasons (Including you being harmed)...

Law certainly puts up a fight, his sword covered in a surprising amount of blood.

Needless murder is against his code... But you're different to him.

You being hurt gets a reaction from both of them.

Naturally Law reacts due to being a doctor.

You could have a doctor on your ship and Law would insist on looking at you.

Luffy suggests Chopper to look at you, but Law pushes away the thought.

Tending to you makes Law feel... strange.

He feels worried yet comforted, liking the idea of you being under his care.

He's careful with bandages and wipes blood from your cuts, looking at you with irritated yet concerned eyes.

He really can't hide his feelings for much longer, can he?

Luffy reacts to you being hurt too.

After all, he lost Ace.

Since he sees you as a sister, Luffy goes feral.

Any enemy in front of him is pummeled

By the end of it, Luffy would drag you to Law and stare as you're patched up.

Law prefers patching you up alone... but he'll tolerate Luffy.

For now.

Overall... It's dangerous for the enemy if they choose to hurt you.

Since both allied Captains are more than willing to spill blood if it means the one they care about is safe.

I imagine the moment Law admits he's fond of you, Luffy's there to encourage it.

Law's been watching you for longer than he'd like to admit.

Eventually he'll cave and tell you how he feels....

Which Luffy is surprisingly... Intrigued about? Maybe even excited?

Law would want to be around you in private... before eventually admitting he cares about you.... He should say love, actually.He's probably loved you since Dressrosa.

The moment may even be a bit tense, with you unsure about it.

After all I can imagine Law accidentally being too intense, maybe pressing closer to you as though he's been craving you for a long time.

As though you're a drug he needs....

Although, before he can get a kiss in to taste your soft lips on his...

Luffy appears, busting through the door.

Law no doubt snaps at him, which leads to Luffy being confused...

But when it's explained you two are 'dating' (willing or not), Luffy wants to support you!

Luffy has no clue about dating, he just knows Law calls you his girlfriend.

Which often leads to Luffy asking you all sorts of questions, much to your dismay.

I like to imagine Law is normally cool with Luffy being around you, until he wants to be more intimate with you....

In that case then Law views Luffy as annoying, always showing up when Law is occupied in kissing you or patching up your wounds.

Luffy is really like an annoying younger brother at times.

The only time Luffy and Law really fight about you is if Luffy senses you're uncomfortable.

If Law's acting strange around you, Luffy often steps in to check in.

Can't have his sister upset, right?

These two are a very lethal duo.

Both of them are infamous at this point, you too since you're allied.

Many know that if they touch you, they're no doubt dead.

Law likes to watch over you, so does Luffy.

Different reasons though... since Law wants to protect you and make sure people know he's your boyfriend... while Luffy is protective of siblings.

Law's possessive while Luffy is just protective.

The two support one another, too.

Which is bad for you, since now you're being isolated.

While your alliance said you didn't have to be under a flag together...

Law tries to encourage you to be under his flag, or Luffy's.

That way, well...

You can't run now, can you?

Your independence is slowly removed by Law.

While Luffy hesitates at first... Law says you'll be safer this way... and see Luffy more.

This makes Luffy more willing to aid Law.

Before you know it, your independence is going to be robbed from you.

Law likes the idea of you being close and your crew merging.

Law likes his girlfriend close and in his arms... all so he can cuddle you close and feel at ease.

Meanwhile Luffy is convincing you this is for the best because then you won't be taken from them!

When Ace left... Blackbeard captured him...

Luffy refuses letting you fall victim to that.

Law is similar... he lost Corazon, the only person who showed genuine love to him since his family died.

He lost him because of Doflamingo...

Which means, since Law loves you now, he can't lose you.

By this point, you're stuck.

Both pirates watch over you closely and you can't leave their alliance.

Bold of you to assume they ever would...

Both Captains plan to keep you safe by their side...

They won't lose you like they did the rest.

A/N: GUYS THIS CHAPTER HAS ME ON THE FLOOR, I HOPE YOU ENJOY, THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE and if you like it let me know to start preparing part 3 ♡ (sorry for any grammatical mistake!)

"The One Piece will never be yours!" He shouted angrily, that -now- dwarf with a red nose, giant hands and feet, when he was defeated. Just like in a cartoon for kids.

"You're just a sad, lonely little boy wearing another man's hat!" She could not understand how it was possible that this intimidating, psychopathic, eccentric clown had turn around so quickly into this little thing that was so... dare she say pathetic, but she didn't wanna be too cruel to him.

The moment Luffy declared his intentions again, Buggy began to look around him, desperate for a way to escape, maybe one of his crew members who would miraculously come to the rescue, or an unexpected ally.  Like (Y/N).

"Wo wo wo wo, no no no no, wait wait!"

He opened his mouth and begged, probably to suggest some kind of pact, to promise (Y/N) a place among his crew like he did with Luffy before, but before he could say anything else, the rubber boy already threw him into the sky.

And that was the last time she thought she would see Buggy The Clown. Little did she know, she was wrong.

Oh, so wrong.

Let's say that the days to come were anything but calm. From the Kuro Incident™, at least they won Usopp's friendship and the Going Merry, one of the cutest ships she has ever seen, to be fair.

And then they arrived at the Baratie, where they met the oh, so attentive Sanji, Zoro was about to die, and Nami... Nami left with the fishmen. Although (Y/N) was on Luffy and Sanji's side when they claimed something bad was actually happening, because she wouldn't have chosen to leave with them just like that, without a hidden, ugly reason behind. Didn't fit in with the idea she had of the ginger.

"I know someone who knows where to find her," says her "captain" when they all discuss their next step.

"Hello boys!" Buggy's head coughs and exclaims in the most forced, sarcastic way possible. Imagine threatening to kill those people after kidnapping them less than a week ago, and now your life depends on them. Low blow, if someone asked her. "Sweetheart." He then smirked devilishly when he saw (Y/N) a little further back, resting her side on the kitchen counter. Surprised to see him and the way he calls her, she raises an eyebrow and gives a small, amused smile. "Hello Buggy."

"Arg, Doll! I'm so happy to see a beautiful face like yours around here." The clown shouts when (Y/N) comes out on deck after several hours organizing the pantries with Sanji. She looks at him out of the corner of her eye with a little smile on her lips when she leaves a snack for Usopp and goes towards the bow of the ship or, in fewer words = in the opposite direction to where her mere existence is spiritually needed. The clown is already tired of giving Usopp directions after all morning arguing where to go, so infatuated and hypnotized by the mysterious aura that surrounds the woman, he doesn’t give up, and his head floats in the direction of the girl, following her, resting right by her side as she sits on the ground, legs falling over the ship's railing and out to the sea.

"Pretty sure you didn't hear me back there" because the idea of someone ignoring him was unthinkable. A war crime. An insult to God itself. He was still Buggy The Clown, The Flashy Fool, even without his crew. Or his ship. Or his body. Fucking hell, what did he have left apart from the head? "I was saying I'm glad I'm not only surrounded by idiots. Having your beautiful face around here makes standing them much easier." He flirts, winking an eye, which (Y/N) doesn't fully get but finds kinda interesting. "We had a moment the other day, right? It wasn't just my imagination, I know it."

"Yeah, we totally had a moment" She agrees, clearly being sarcastic to everyone but him.  "You kidnapped us, you called me pretty, you searched me, I threatened you, you liked it..." she lists, lying her back on the deck, arms raised, own head resting on her hands, enjoying the breeze, the sun, and the smell of the salty water. 

"I loved it," he corrects her after emitting a little grunt of satisfaction, vividly remembering that scene. What would he not give to go back and enjoy it a little bit more before the rest of her crew ruined his entire day -week- so blatantly and unnecessarily over the top.

"You're welcome. Any time." She answers after an amused giggle, eyes closed.

"Don't tempt me."

"Now tell me," Buggy resumes the conversation after about 30 seconds of silence. He clearly doesn't know how to enjoy it. He is that type of person for whom silence not only makes him uncomfortable, but also terrifies him. Theatre kid. "What's a woman like you doing with a bunch of insufferable kids like them? I know they're trying to organize their boy band and go on adventures around the world, but you... you should look for someone more suitable to your needs, capable of giving you different stimuli. More mature." He adds in the end with a low, seductive tone of voice, shamelessly feeding on the image of the curve of her body now that she's not paying visual attention to him.

"Hmhm. Maybe I'll look for them." She answers nonchalantly, just because. She finds really entertaining this type of tug-flirting-war. Even if he's the only one that flirts and she just gives him opportunities to do so.

"You don't have to look too far." He was so cliché, how cute.

"You talk too much to be no more than a floating head."

"I could always put my tongue to better use." Snapping her eyes open, (Y/N) holds her breath for a second, taking in what she just heard = what he just offered. That would be, literally, giving head. In all the glorious sense of the expression. Raising both eyebrows, she turns her face on the ground to observe him, nibbling at her lower lip. She seems to consider it for a few seconds, because no, she cannot deny how interesting and, at the same time, weird, degenerate, the idea is. But before he has the opportunity to keep talking his way into convincing her, she breaks into a cruel smile and decides to cut his mood "You mean like guiding us to the Konomi islands instead of talking with me? You're right, you should get back to work."

He looks at her like he was just betrayed by his second in command, hoping she would agree by the expression on her face seconds ago, the way she looked at him and how she was biting her own lip in that tortuous way that pushed him to want -need- to do it by himself.

"Wait, no need to play difficult with me sweetheart, I--" But it's too late, (Y/N) is already standing, grabbing Buggy's head between her hands, and before he could add anything else, she winks at him, kiss one of his cheeks, screams at the top of his lungs "USOPP!! CATCH HIM!" and throws his head like she was playing volleyball, Usopp jumping to be able to reach him, both of them celebrating the pass like children, ignoring Buggy's complaints.

The third time he flirts -tries to- with her, she's back on the deck, helping Zoro and Sanji moving some things around. He begins to scream desperately, and knowing damn well that if no one pays attention to him he won't stop even if that means losing his voice, she approaches, hands on her hips, sighing as she looks at him like someone that is about to regret getting close to a crying, annoying child. "What's wrong with you?" she asks dryly, pressing her lips together. "Ah, my guardian angel. Could you do me the favor of scratching me behind my ear?" Oh. A waaay more harmless request than she expected. Of course, she relents, because she sees nothing wrong with this small favor; she’s quite the empathetic, and in his place she would surely prefer to jump headfirst -ba dum tss- into the sea rather than suffer that itch and not be able to scratch it. After granting his wish, just as she is about to leave, Buggy moves his head much faster than anyone would predict, to catch one of the girl's fingers in his mouth and suck and lick and nibble, in a… God, a sample of what he could do with his tongue somewhere else.

A shiver runs down (Y/N)'s spine, and it reaches a pleasurable end between her legs, causing her to press them together as she inhales deeply.

"Wanna see what else I can do?" He whispers as he releases her. She can hear him over the crash of the waves against the hull of the boat, eyes fixed on his face, will to complain nowhere to be seen. Bold, not in a hundred years she would have expected that. And for a moment, she is tempted. That has been undeniably attractive. And it had a really strong effect on her. "I would gladly show you if you let me, you just have to ask, sugar lips. I bet it's been a damn long time you don't treat yourself--"

"(Y/N)!!" Zoro calls her, instantly exploding the bubble between Buggy and her.

She sighs in relief because only God knows she was close to give up. Then swallows, shakes her head exaggeratedly to shake herself out of his spell, and, licking her lips, gives the clown a mischievous smile, recomposing herself. "Nice try"

"Stop trying to deny the obvious" He tried again for the... 5th time? She /really/ lost count during their journey. Appearing from nowhere, he startled her in the process. He was now in a shelf of the kitchen, at the same height as the girl's face. "The chemistry between us is unbearable, you can see it from miles away." Jumping to approach the edge of the shelf, his eyes look her up and down. "Turns me on how you play hard to get because I don't like easy things either, so I respect your game," he nods, raising an eyebrow "But come on... I know you like me. I've seen how you look at me or bite your lip when I flirt with you, you have nothing to be ashamed of."

This whole thing was really trying her patience. Not because she wanted to fuck him off, but because she knows that all that flirting would end with her giving in and doing something she certainly shouldn't. As of for now, he had gotten her to vaguely consider it, and she had to admit, she was growing some kind of attraction slash fondness slash crush for him, but it wasn't enough to fall to her knees.

He wanted war, tho? He would have it.

"You're right, I like you, but you know, I like my men body and all, capable of grabbing me by the hips and pushing me on theirs, to fuck me and make me scream their name until I lose my voice. To make it difficult for me to walk straight the day after." she whispers, approaching him slowly until they share the same air, her nose touching his red one. (Y/N) closes her eyes, taking a deep breath as her tongue caresses her own lips, almost touching the clown’s ones too. Yes, she likes him, she has some sort of twisted soft spot for men who ranged from intimidating psychopath to the most pathetic human being depending on the day, and Buggy was the perfect example for that. "And you..." she tilts her head to the side, attempting to close the distance between each other and kiss him, but at the last second she withdraws, leaving the poor clown with his eyes closed, waiting for the touch of her dreamy lips. "Unfortunately you're just a head."

"Try again when you get your whole body back!"

It has a bit too much going on but i like it, i think its creepy and gives off black magic vibes, true to Hawkins powers and aesthetic

9. Kid Pirates

There so much going on but its badass. It feels like a 13 y/o boy assisted in the choices but its also feel honest, like he genuinely is that. Very true to Kid's personality

8. Thriller Bark Pirates

They showed a bit more restaine than the other two, more clean. Strong aesthetic game in desing and colors, you just know they have a haunted mannor dracula shit going on

7. Whitebear Pirates

Instant classic. Neat and to the point. If you have a physical trait like that use, brand on it. I also like the angry eyes on the skull

6. Buggy Pirates

Speaking of physical traits. No messing around, clown, bosh. I also like it looks silly, it doeant strike fear but its so funny looking that i like it

5. Red Hair Pirates

Against what i've saying, i love they resisted the urge to give their jolly roger red hair (there are other red haired people, its not that unique). Its a classic timeless look. The red streaks bring it together to look like Shanks scars but also an eyepatch but also blood.

4. Heart Pirates

Law does not have a jolly roger he has a Brand™. The jolly roger has nothing to do with his physical appearence of name of the crew but it has a story, or backstory rather. Its a unique shape, it has its own color scheme, he slaps it on on everything. Its a logo, and i like it

It also if you look at it for long enough it starts to look like a surprised egg with striped piyamas on

3. Straw Hat Pirates

Talking of branding. Simple, effective, a pop of color on the hat. Silly looking and you inmediatly know who is behind this crew. A personalised classic and bc its so straight fowards just beats Law's desing to the top three

2. Cook Pirates

Its so silly i cant not give it high marks. Can you even imagine been terrorised by a crew that sails around with that? Amazing. And from the man nicknamed Red Leg Zeff bc of the blood that his kicks drew, duality of men

1. Kuja Pirates

Now that is a look. Its simple yet scary af. It really intimidates you, and its related to Boa but not in a too obvious way, a call back to Medussa and gorgons, badass and dangerous women. Impactful, effective and iconic.

And as for who made them: Hawkins(?) (dont know any other members) / Kid and Killer helped / Hogback / Whitebear but i think he consulted Rogers and they sortof copied eachother / Shanks age 14 as a joke / idk why but Lucky Roux / Law. / Luffy and Usopp helped (as we know) / Zeff (he is quirky like that) / Amazon Lily's CM

Brook thinks he should be happy for you – you’re living your life as intended and you still keep him around as a close confidant and partner in crime. You’ve grown so close that some of your fellow crew members giggle whenever they see you leave the ship together. If he could, he would certainly blush at those implications, but nothing ever happened between you two and he made sure of it; he always treated you with respect but kept you just out of reach so that you wouldn’t get too attached to a literal skeleton. It would make you a freak in the eyes of others, and he didn’t want to de-socialise you and rob you of vital experiences that may enrich your spirit and keep you happy. You always took it well and reassured him that being with him wouldn’t do that to you, but Brook wasn’t so sure.

He still thought that he was a selfish, selfish man for orbiting around you as often as he did… he just couldn’t help himself!

You’re enchanting and the love of his pathetic life, he needs you – you’re basically his life force at this point. He has other things, things that make him who he is, but they don’t let him dream about who he could be. You give him the chance to imagine a world where he isn’t damaged goods, isn’t a hopeless catastrophe, isn’t… so alone.

Yes, well,… ever since Luffy let Brook join this ragtag pirate crew, he hasn’t been lonely once and he was very grateful for that opportunity, but feeling alone in the midst of a party? That’s a new one for the resident virtuoso. Now that he is around all these amazing people with amazing personalities, the pain he felt in regards to friendship was no more. They didn’t replace a sensation long lost, the Rumbar Pirates will forever live on in his memory, but they did make him feel things he never thought he’d feel again. Wanted, for example. Warm, too.

You, though… you brought that heartache back. Brook knew he couldn’t ever have you – he knew it by heart… even if Nami and Robin smiled knowingly whenever he volunteered to go with you, even if Zoro couldn’t help but smirk whenever he pushed Sanji out of the way just to stand next to you, even if Chopper danced around after he sought him out with endless praise for patching you up so quickly, even if everybody knew, he couldn’t make it official. Putting it into words was… scary. You wouldn’t abandon him, you were too kind for that, but… he couldn’t bear watching you throw your life away for someone long forgotten and long dead, someone who shouldn’t be.

But this selfish, selfish man… he couldn’t help but want to shatter his own teeth as he saw some guy approach you. You weren’t the type to party, but Brook was a born entertainer, so every night, whenever the Straw Hats docked somehwere unknown and each wanted to explore their surroundings and get to know the locals (and the local food), the crew’s musician wanted to make himself useful – and appear less threatening and spooky – by going into a local tavern and playing some musical pieces. Worked like a charm every time! Besides, he put into extra effort into his play whenever you watched, so he knew those cheers weren’t just to appease the skeletal ghost that had just wandered in…

Of course, Brook was well aware of the fact that you were the most beautiful person in the entire world, but this… this bastard had no business talking to you! That guy probably didn’t even see how your soul shone when you listened to Brook’s music, it’s like you were a deity, no mere mortal could treat you in ways you deserved.

He knew, he knew… He had absolutely no business in denying you of your life experiences either, but this heartache he felt around you was, at least, bearable! Compared to the visceral anger he felt right now, that little bit of pain was child’s play. He couldn’t watch you interact with someone clearly interested in you – because Brook knew that this would kill the selfish, selfish man inside of him.

Something within him still hoped, still pined for your love and approval. He would never allow this to happen, but he secretly wished that you’d love him just as deeply, that you’d only ever look at him and see a reflection of yourself, that you were secretly yearning for him to make the first move, that you-

The crowd cheered as soon as he stopped playing, but Brook heard none of it.

Maybe this stranger convinced you to dance with him to one of Brook’s songs, maybe you’d thank Brook for getting you into a relationship, maybe you’d tell Brook first that you’d leave the crew to settle down – none of this was you, but a certain sword-wielding musician has learnt that love makes one rather unrecognisable… causes everyone to reconsider their choices, exploring themselves anew…

You’d never know that Brook had composed hundreds of songs for you, written lyrics describing your likeness in great detail, comparing it to spiritual, never-ending beauty like the night sky, a sunset on the horizon, the deep sea ocean, the polar lights – those things, the things everybody needed in their lives, things so fleeting that some people swear they dreamt them…

You’d never know that, every single morning, Brook brews your beloved beverages, not Sanji.

You’d never know that he feels your touch linger.

You’d never know that you make him feel so alive and so whole.

Just when the selfish, selfish man in him was about to die, he noticed that your eyes were locked on him, the man who’d tried flirting with you long abandoned. You were giving your fellow Straw Hat member a round of applause, your cheeks were stretched wide, teeth and gums showing because you were so happy for him, and you looked ethereal.

You looked at him like you loved him from the bottom of your heart.

You’re a pearl among seashells, looking after a mere fossil.

And the man that still hopes inside of Brook wouldn’t ever have it any other way.

A Straw hat Pirates x Past Roger's Pirates Crewmember!Mitsuri Reader. Mabye, when they came to Sabaody Archipelago Reader was talking with Shakky and they met the Reader.

-You had been with Shakky, wanting to see Rayleigh again, as you would wander the world, seeking out your old crew members, at least the ones who were still alive, to visit them, to see how they were doing.

-Those you visited all knew this, knowing of your kind and caring nature, as they all adored you for it, even if they didn’t always say it, like Buggy, who was always so shy with you for some reason?

-You were much like Shakky, very well put together and you didn’t look like your actual age, which led to lots of surprises when people would hit on you, and you would tell them your actual age. You thought it was rather cute when they got surprised.

-Shakky was a good friend of yours, and she adored seeing you, she would always tease Rayliegh that you liked her better, which would cause some amusing arguments, but you knew they were just poking fun at each other.

-When the door swung open, revealing a group of younger looking pirates, including a talking skeleton and a talking reindeer.

-Instantly you had Chopped in your arms, “You’re so cute!!” at first, he was struggling to get free, but you smelled like something sweet, the Sakura mochi you were always eating, fighting a losing battle before you handed him a cotton candy stick from Shakky who couldn’t help but smile, thinking you were just as adorable.

-Brook, after he introduced himself to you, was amusing, as he wanted to be hugged like that too. He nearly melted when you let Chopper go and you opened your arms, a huge smile on your face, “You’re so sweet, wanting a hug too!”

-The moment his skull rested against your chest, which was mostly bare, he melted, blood coming from the holes of his nose, falling to the ground, overcome with elation.

-You liked the vibe of Luffy, as you knew of him through Ace, whom you knew was Roger’s son, you were one of the few who knew that secret, as you met Ace years ago, when you were visiting Roger’s grave, and you found him there as well.

-The two of you bonded, once he realized that you were one of Roger’s crew members, and you held him when he broke down, crying harshly, ashamed of his lineage, feeling responsible for the death of his mother, after he found out the truth of his birth.

-Luffy was elated to meet you, after he took some time trying to figure out where he knew you from, but once he did, he leapt up, hugging you close and you squealed, spinning him easily around.

-He could easily tell that you were incredibly strong, despite not looking like it, but hugged you back, feeling so warm and safe in your arms.

-When Luffy told you that they were looking for Rayleigh as well, needing him to coat their ship so they could get to Fishman Island, you offered to show them to where he likes to hang out.

-You could have never imagined that this fated meeting would have led to this, watching Luffy punch out a Celestial Dragon, then helping them fight against the marines, only to watch them be blown away by Kuma.

-When you tried to attack Kuma, he let you hit him, throwing him back against a tree before he got up, ‘accidentally’ dropping something, and left, going after other pirates.

-You found it was a note, one that made your blood run cold, ‘Ace will be executed’ NOT ON YOUR WATCH!!!

-Despite the rivalry the Roger Pirates had with Whitebeard’s own, they welcomed your help, knowing that you were very soft on Ace, and you weren’t going to let a child be executed just because he’s Roger’s son.

-You quickly showed why your bounty was so high, taking out many of the marines, including several of the giants, by yourself, giving the pirates an edge.

-When Luffy arrived, you couldn’t help but smile, seeing that he was alright before you cleared a path for him to get to Ace.

-You nearly lost your life in that battle, holding Aikinu’s hand away from Ace, letting it burn you, your eyes like fire as you surprised him by not melting or burning, as your passionate love was keeping you safe.

-When Shanks arrived, stopping the war, he was the one who took you on his ship, while Law and Marco took Luffy and Ace.

-You cried loudly when you learned that Whitebeard died, remaining so everyone could get to safety, feeling like you had failed him, but Marco, who had healed your severe burn, as your skin had melted, after a while, down to the bone.

-Shanks was pouting, jealous as you were hugging Marco who was trying not to cry, after you snatched him into your arms while he was healing you- he wanted hugs too!!

-Ace, once he knew Luffy was stable, rushed into your arms, and you smiled as Luffy ran to you as well, hugging you as well, which made you smile, happy tears slipping down your cheeks, happy that you were able to save Ace, and keep Luffy happy.

-Rayleigh, who was nearly, wanting a hug as well, his arms folded across his chest, glaring daggers at Ace and Luffy, pouting comically that they were hogging you, in his eyes, which caused laughter to go around.

-They all loved and adored you just as you all adored and loved all of them.

Part 2

BUGGY

This was something I'd never live down, being held hostage, well my head being held hostage by a bunch of young adult pirates calling themselves The Straw Hat Pirates. When I first met them there were only three of them but now that number had doubled and I didn't like being outnumbered. They took it in turns looking after my head, but I hardly got taken out of that stinky bag they kept me in. Once I got my body back I'd bounce, and the next time they crossed me I would come out on top.

The only member of this stupid crew I could stand was y/n. I wasn't sure what they did, but they were quiet and kept to themselves making them an easy target. They had some past trauma and hardly any real-world experience so I could be a flirt and perverted and they took it on the chin. Until Zoro nearly threw me into the sea and told me to watch my tongue or lose it. y/n made an innocent remark asking if my tongue could also detach, and after a wink and a 'shall we find out together kitten' comment Zoro sent my head flying across the deck.

It was a hot day and you'd told Luffy you'd fix the damage done by Garp, but working under the hot sun was intense. You were in a pair of shorts and a loose blouse now drenched in sweat which clung to your body. Thinking you are alone you take off the blouse revealing the skimpy blue bikini stop Nami had convinced you to buy and the matching bottoms under your shorts. Little did you know someone was watching you.

BUGGY

The dumb swordsman was sleeping again, this time finding himself shade while leaving me exposed in the sweltering sun. I was about to unload a range of colourful insults when the sound of hammering caught my attention. I hop a little on my barrel and gulp, my eyes fixated on y/n of all people. They were inches away from me bent over fixing the side of the ship unaware of my presence.

I assumed y/n was a prude only having seen them in trousers and long sleeves, but I licked my dry lips and raised my eyebrows seeing them in shorts that left little to the imagination and long legs that would be perfectly wrapped around my waist as they rode me.

I shake my head, what was I thinking? y/n was fun to mess with and nothing more.

Next thing I know y/n is taking off the blouse, and if I was attached to my body I might have just got a hard-on. Why did y/n choose to hide such a magnificent body? The blue bikini top is the same shade as my hair, and I vaguely remember y/n saying their favourite colour was blue. As y/n picks up a glass of water I allow my eyes to wander, like a moth to a flame. Noticing how small their hands were as they reached up to wipe sweat from their brow, but could probably easily wrap around my dick, and how when they arched their back their chest jutted out and little droplets of sweat run down them. Fuck, they would look good arching beneath me.

I curse and y/n gasps loudly hearing me, 'Oh my god--'

I smirk, 'Not god kitten, but I can be whoever you want me to be.'

I'm surprised they don't immediately cover up, instead leaning down to my height giving me a very nice view of their chest, 'Did Zoro leave you in the sun?'

I pout, playing the sympathy card, y/n was too nice and I loved attention, 'wouldn't even give me any water, I'm parched kitten.'

y/n liked cats so my nickname was appropriate, even if they didn't understand the real meaning behind it.

'You can share my glass Buggy, I'll scold Zoro later,' y/n huffs, clearly annoyed at the swordsman as they bring the water to my lips and I start drinking, 'I'll give them a right tongue lashing...I think I overheard Sanji say that once.'

I spit out the water and it lands on y/n's chest, soaking into the material, 'you're one of a kind y/n. if you need any advice I'm sure I could offer some lip service. Maybe when the others are sleeping.'

y/n blushes and I'm not quite sure if they understand me, 'I think we've both had too much sun Buggy, let's get us both inside and you can stay with me for the rest of the day.'

Before I can protest y/n picks me up, and for a split second I'm pressed between their breasts before they turn my head. y/n was going to be the death of me, and I wasn't going to look at them the same way ever again.

Ok so I have just had many thoughts about Seraphim Crocodile and the Crocodile is Luffy's other parent theory and this was a theory idea but also got kinda in fic prompt/au because I have a lot of thoughts and feelings.

So Luffy meeting Seraphim Crocodile and Luffy not only getting an insight into younger Crocodile but also just looking at Seraphim Croco who looks so sad and reserved where the others seem to mirror a lot of their perspective warlords. Just them almost mirroring Luffy's hate of being alone. Luffy relating to Croco and being reminded of his younger self and their being clear parallels between them (maybe even having him put hat on Seraphim Crocodile) while going top seat the fuck out of CP0 or whoever. Because Luffy like this is my little brother/ sorta kid now.

But also while thinking about this thought about other reactions/interactions and just Zoro meeting Seraphim Mihawk and kid actually going all feral Zoro mode on him 'FIGHT ME' and Zoro's just like 'Whose feral angry child is this' and it's like reverse of Mihawk and Zoro's first meeting.

Zoro:Fucking hell I'm not going to go fight a kid that's crazy

Zoro: i could kill you brat stop being stupid

And everyone especially Sanji and all those and the Baratie are just giving Zoro a look.

And then when the Strawhats leave 2 of the Seraphim going with them Crocodile and Mihawk. And them taking on the cabin boy roles mirroring Shanks and Buggy. (Though less cabin boy work more Mihawk not leaving Zoro alone and trying to get him to fight him and Crocodile following Luffy around or learning sharp shooting form Usoop (because yes also pulling in my theory Crocodile was a sharp shooter before losing his hand))

Also had a theory Crocodile used to be a D before changing his name after he transition but rather that it being his old name if Seraphim Crocodile choose the name Crow D El or something because if Luffy ended up adopting a kid of course they'd have the will of D. But also Seraphim Mihawk going just by Hawk and it working cause of the dark wings both have. (Though Sanji just calls him Mini Marimo)

But all this mostly because just imagine Crocodile and Mihawks reaction in the cross guild when they see mini versions of themselves with their student/surrogate son and actual son who doesn't know he's kid yet.

Both ex warlords just blue screen because what the fuck?

Also Law meeting back up and Luffy just like 'Hey Torao we have a kid now here, Sanji and Zoro got one to here' and Law is so so very confused. He's still coming to terms with the fact he has feelings for Luffy whereas Luffy believes they've been pirate married since Punk Hazard and has now adopted them a kid.

Anyway Ussop and Buggy both with MEGA imposter syndrome energy, somehow the cross guild and strawhats cross paths and declare a truce ((maybe it's a simple island, maybe Buggy's just "feeling nice" and so doesn't instigate, who tf knows-))

Anyway, Ussop and Buggy having a brief moment of a heart to heart, maybe Ussop overhears a Cross Guild "argument" ((ie: Croc threatening Buggy)), and he's actually... concerned? About this guy?? I mean yeah Buggy has done some bad shit and all but he helped Luffy with the whole Impel Down Thing. Luffy is a good judge of character, and if it wasn't On Sight this meet up, then obviously Buggy is a halfway decent dude.

So it becomes Pinocchio Jesus trying to subtly give therapy to a feral cat clown man on the outskirts of a party.

And when Buggy inevitably drops a "it's just the way it is, kid, they're stronger than me, I can offer nothing", Ussop has a moment of oh. You're like me, aren't you, Buggy?

((Bonus points, Luffy alternating between inhaling food, playing around and being absolutely GLUED to someone (Zoro, Buggy or Crocodile, in that order of frequency).

Eventually Lu decides to give a Grand Retelling Of Events, and he calls Buggy "one of the harder people I fought" without hesitation bc, to Luffy, he WAS. Buggy was the one who hurt his hat, who gave him a challenge STILL IN THE EAST, and who was tenacious and smart in ways he didn't GET. mihawk and Crocodile both are Doubting until Luffy gets into the Impel Down events and they... are beginning to Wonder. Buggy was underestimated when arrested, on a higher level, but even those levels have good security. And Buggy was out and mid escape when Luffy found him.

How did THAT happen?

And actually... he was starting and running a business in two years - one they integrated into with... very little push back or struggle. Mihawk may not be as business oriented, but both can tell that the math isn't... mathing precisely as expected.

Luffy, so infectious with energy, in that hat, in that shade of red - well. Buggy's been lonely for so long, and he's tired. What's the harm in dropping a few of his many, many guards?

Luffy is over the moon bc as far as he's concerned, the moment Buggy helped him, they became Friends, and when he learned he's an ally or smth of Shanks'? That's it, Buggy, you're being assimilated into the found family. Good luck, pal.

Croc and Hawk meanwhile are the Pikachu meme inside, trying to find the EQUATION to account for?? All??? This????

The rest of the strawhats are either cackling, watching on in amusement or cheering on as Buggy does some simply little card tricks or juggles smth or other. He passed Captain's Vibe Check, Nami's only slightly petty about the money.))

Got confused about the timeline you set up with Luffy meeting Buggy in the kidnapped au, accidentally made up an au of an au:

Buggy somehow escaping his capturers before Shanks ever even gets to him (added horror just imagine Shanks hearing about his friend being kidnapped, only to find the place he’s been taken to already in shambles and the only clue as to Buggy ever being there being a heavily damaged cage with seasstone cuffs in an equally damaged room…) , he still suffers from memory loss and a bunch of trauma and goes into hiding for a long time, until Luffy stumbles upon him at the start of his journey completly by accident. Buggy sees the hat, has the First disjointed flashes of his past that aren’t a total nightmare for once and for some reason… he needs to protect this dumbass kid. He NEEDS to protect this dumbass kid. He justifies it as only trying to get his memories back and to get a clue as to why everyone seems to be after him at first, in typical Buggy manner, thinking of himself first and foremost, but it’s obvious to anyone with eyes that he not only sees… something in Luffy he can’t quite explain, but that he also truly comes to care for that little brat after a while and that he does enjoy being part of a crew a lot and somehow seems to just be inherently good at sailing the seas and being a pirate for some reason. Huh. Whatever could that be?

Of course this would culminate with Shanks one day being confronted with the kid he put all his faith into living up to that faith absolutely splendidly… and then one day being face to face with his old friend, that he had lost twice and thought dead, again. Buggy just comes face to face with someone hes never seen but somehow still remembers.

On a fucking lighter note for once, imagine Shanks desperately trying to jog Buggys memory and Buggy being horrified at this stranger being all up in his face until there is a tiny spark in his mind “… You…I remember..” Shanks face lighting up with obvious delight “YES!? Come on I know there’s something in there!” Buggys shaking hands reaching up towards Shanks face while his eyes fill with realization and Shanks dares not to breathe. “You…”

Buggys hands suddenly grab Shanks neck without warning, squeezing hard and shaking him violently “YOURE THAT DANG IDIOT THAT MADE ME EAT THAT FRUIT! I’LL KILL YOU YOU SONNOFFA-“ Strawhats struggling to hold their demented clown uncle back from mauling Shanks, while Buggy just goes absolutely ham and cusses at “THAT GODDAMN REDHAIRED BASTARD!”. The latter just has a sobbing laughing fit. May not be the most flattering memory to come back first, but hey, it’s a start.

My original though process was more of a "they land the ship somewhere (or something) Buggy wanders off, or is left to rest but decides to look for them and gets lost, and accidentally stumbles into Luffy.

But I love your version! And the more I think about it, if he met Luffy in the early early beginning and was there for the Mihawk-Zoro fight, Mohawk going back to tell Shanks about the straw hats and mentioning a clown with them would make great plot development. Because Buggy following Luffy around I feel like he'd be almost an official member after an arc's worth time. Not to mention Luffy's tendency to take in traumatized souls and give them a reason to keep living (and God knows Buggy desperately needs one). And Shanks just following breadcrumbs to find Luffy like "Have you seen this boy?" and holding up his poster, most people would be too terrified that one of the emperors to answer. Plus why would he is look for a rookie pirate??? And he's always a step behind, but always hears the crazy stunts Luffy pulls and how many near-death experiences he's had and it just adds to the stress. Pride... but also stress.

Or even if he joins a bit later I think it'd be funny if he had a Usopp photobomb moment, just being there in the background in one of the others' posters, you know?

Also this may be a hot take but I think this version of Buggy would get along with Robin. Because they're both packing some serious childhood trauma and have lived most of their life either being hunted or being tortured. They both have (or used to have) suicidal tendencies... idk I think it'd be a cute friendship.

OH! Bonus: I already love Usopp endlessly and how he just bullshits his way out of almost anything and I could love it if there was two silly cremates that keep accidentally winning. They'd also have a nice bond imo because they're also both depressed and Usopp would have someone else to tell his tall tales to. Buggy would probably believe them all because he's literally been living underground his entire adult life.

episode 4: Luffy’s Past! Enter Red-Haired Shanks!

they made her a girlboss i love it. finally, some good nami stuff. She's been much more of a background character before this, but I really liked how her escapades run parallel to luffy's so far. love that their paths will finally cross soon...

zoro having no sense of direction is far and away my favorite running gag in the series (even if it is overused to create tension/ reasons for characters to fight in smaller numbers), but this first little reference is much funnier in hindsight.

baby luffy! so pure of heart and big of head. side note, i really like how oda draws like, some styles of fashion. the shirt with just plain text on it and a related design is something we see a lot of, especially in background characters. very simple, but loved how lived-in and unique it makes the clothes feel.

this is both a really good joke, and a really good insight into shank's character. having the crew be so damn chill, even laughing at their boss, shows how strong they are. and how weak luffy is for comparison. its a very adult take.

the frame of luffy stretching here, accompanied with the perfect sound effects and bouncy, springy animation on this short shot, is so fucking funny. i pulled it back three times to watch it bounce. i always wanted to be an animator, so i love little stuff like this, especially from older animations, and especially in tv shows and animes where budgets are often tight, and they absolutely didn't have to do that little extra bit. but it sells the joke (and severity of the situation) very very well here.

this is such a raw fucking moment, dude. like yeah, luffy's about to be executed whatever, shanks is fucking cool, dude. like this is such a badass intro. we learn SO MUCH about shanks in ONE EPISODE, AND WE HAVE LIKE 1100 OR WHATEVER MORE TO GO. this scene is so iconic. one of my favs for shanks.

i don't care if it's a trope. power of friendship, when done well, pays off in spades. we see this idea in so many shonen, obviously. i do think one piece does a good job here of showing how much luffy absolutely idolizes shanks, iconic hat aside, and just how much shanks' whole lifestyle is just what luffy wants to be. we see this especially in later episodes.

another great oda face. and a really funny joke. despite all his cool posturing, shanks is still a big dork, and we love him for that.

another amazing badass moment. i didn't really understand the significance of this moment, and honestly 400 something eps in, im JUST starting to understand just how FAR BACK oda foreshadowed this, and it's amazing in hindsight. even in foresight, (is that a good joke?), its an amazing, badass moment. and the detail on this face, combined with the scars, ugh. i have weakness for overwhelmingly cool characters, and shanks wins for today no content.

this hit me hard the first time watching. such a severe wound, and an immediate reveal, with no real buildup or anything.

just an iconic moment here.

still waiting for that that reunion. good motivation here, really love how much of this is foreshadowed. but i imagine it will be a long long time until luffy actually gives it back, if at all. because the whole point is that he surpasses shanks, and shanks is so damn cool, it will take a long ass time for them to actually do this. 400 eps in and nothing yet, so we'll see.

love that zoro is such a badass, they don't even show it. not that they need to, just funny. love the way oda draws his looney-toons-esque cartoon head bumps. can't wait to see more of buggy!!!

Chapter 1140 Reaction

Heck yeah, I’m sosososososososo happy we finally got Gaban. Previous chapter made me so happy, you have no idea. And thank you, Goda, for giving me another sexy old man. You’re never gonna hear the end of it. (Maybe I’ll post some thoughts on 1139 later just to scream more about this man.)

Zoro remembering what Colon said about his father already tells me he’s gonna take Gaban seriously. Of course, Gaban just teases Luffy at first, but using the key as weapon is so cool to me. The key looks beautiful in every frame, but this sequence clearly is the highlight:

The way the key bends too to emphasize how hard it was pressed, forced into the floor is chef’s kiss. The crackling in the small frame looks like conqueror’s to me but we’ll see if he actually has it or it’s just a different way of drawing advanced armament.

Tangent - It just confuses me when people online immediately rule out the possibility or say “he can’t have it”. I mean, why shouldn’t he? We’re in the endgame now, so we should expect it to appear more frequently. Feels like some power scalers are just afraid that if Gaban has it, Sanji will get it too, ‘cause of the parallel drawn between them, to which I have to say - 1. Gaban having it wouldn’t automatically mean Sanji will, they’re not the same person, just like Rayleigh isn’t a 1-to-1 copy of Zoro. Imo both Rayleigh and Gaban have a mix of traits from both Sanji and Zoro. - 2. Even if Sanji gets it too, I don’t see why that would be an issue? Just let the old man join the ranks of other hot powerful old men with huge cock COC. Rant over.

Gaban saying the straw hat suits Luffy better than the helmet is so sweet. He already pictures him as Roger :3 But calling Shanks a cheapskate is hilarious xD it makes me curious tho if Shanks actually wants it back and why… sus. I’d usually subscribe to the theory that Shanks realized Luffy will carry on Roger’s legacy and not him since Luffy shares the same dream - also his break-up scene with Buggy supports that - and prepared the way for Luffy. Maybe it’s not that deep and returning the hat is just meant to motivate Luffy and that’s why he doesn’t want to meet him yet - he wants to see him become Pirate King first, but who knows. Why is this man always so sus? But imagine if Gaban met Shanks again and just scolded him for not just giving Luffy the hat, man I love this family.

Back on track, Luffy getting angry at someone shitting on his loved ones is in-character but since we’re on Elbaf he does seem to escalate quickly. Going Gear 4 against Loki and now Gear 5 against Gaban first thing, from 0 to 100, strikes me as a bit weird. Maybe this will be explored later. Gaban cutting off the tower of a giant castle casually is wild. This was just a teaser. It reminds me of when Zoro cut the tower during his fight with Kaku on Water 7, but much bigger. This panel is cute, I love them :3

The helmet and horns merging with Luffy is a cute touch, but them teaming up to jump an old man is funny xD Also, what’s Luffy’s plan with the axe? Probably Gear 5 shenanigans, but Wano showed us that Luffy + blades don’t go well together xD Also mmh yes Gaban has sexy eyes, thanks Oda, much appreciated. I thought we’d have to wait much longer before he reveals them.

That this would only be a quick vibe-check and that Gaban surrenders was very clear to me from the start, but the way he goes about it is still hilarious. I didn’t even see at first how Luffy and Zoro crash through the rubble xD I thought it was from the impact of Gaban dropping his axes. BUT THIS!??

Comedy gold. “Don’t take it seriously. It’s just a joke.” and “We could have died.” - “You’re not dead, are you?” This is straight-up online prankster speak. It makes me imagine that Gaban in our world would be an old man with a tiktok account where he uploads stupid pranks and is just a menace to society. His account wouldn’t be very popular, maybe one random viral hit, but it’s his hobby after retirement. He crazy - but I’m beyond charmed. And if this was just casual fun for him, shit, what’s gonna happen when he’s serious? Oh my god, this is already so long, I should speed this up… Gaban’s parting words make it seem like Elbaf is going to be destroyed this arc, which was expected anyway, but does it mean we won’t see him again this arc? Damn, that’d be a bummer. I really hope we’ll see him anyway.

Luffy and Zoro still don’t know who he is lmao. Gaban appears for two chapters just to flex and throw some axes at Luffy and Zoro, says “it’s just a prank, bro” and leaves. What a chad.

About the God’s Knights… so, if they’re allowed to have family, does their family know about their immortality? How much do the knights know in general? Curious, curious. Also, what happened to Saturn’s family? Will they face punishment, too, or maybe they won’t ever know what happened? Very excited to explore these factions. Thankfully, we’re getting there.

I love how both were introduced. Both aren’t prepared but in opposite states. Absolutely adore Killingham’s kirin form! He looks so cool and fun, and I’m worried I’m gonna like his personality as well. The fact his name could be pronounced either as ‘kirin’ or ‘killin’ is genius. Sommers’s beard looking like a cross in reference to his sainthood and Ju Peter is a cool detail. Is he just randomly sitting in his military coat while in his undies? What is bro doing??? If the tattoo on his arm is the mark Killingham is referring to, this might have huge implications for Shanks. It sparked some cool theories about his lost arm. I’m usually not one of those who talk shit about how it makes no sense that Shanks lost his arm to that fish, I just accepted it as part of the storytelling, but if Oda decides to make a bigger story with this setup about how Shanks tried to reconnect with his family after Roger’s death, got the mark, and then gave up his arm to get his freedom back as Luffy gave him hope for the future, that would be pretty cool. Oda pulls off retcons like no other. But maybe they mean the sign on Killingham’s arm? Or is it a family crest? Perhaps both are just family crests and the mark refers to something invisible?

Anyway, Goonko blushing and turning away from Sommers till he’s dressed while she walks around in just panties is hilarious. I wonder how she’d react to Franky or that it’ll be a point of connection lol. Or maybe it’s just because he’s a God’s Knight. She wasn’t introduced as saint, so it’s possible she was just a normal person or a slave who got elevated to a holy knight. By “game” Scamrock probably means one like on God Valley. A native speaker confirmed that they’re written the same way in Japanese. I wonder, however, if it means they wanna fight all of Elbaf or he’s just talking about the children. We’ll see.

I can’t explain why, but the way the tree branches grow through the walls doesn’t sit right with me. The walls obviously weren’t built around it but it also doesn’t look like what happens to structures when trees try to find a way through. Probably this is just flavor and I’m overthinking it. Or maybe it shows that the damage was done long ago, in a battle, and later the plants filled the holes? I think this is more likely.

Like, an entire building breaking and crashing down should be heard far, right? And is the location where it landed important or was it just for scale? Hm…

Goonko being annoyed by Killingham’s behavior is funny. Among these four, she seems to be the only one who cares about manners and “respect”. But I’m also curious about Killingham. Is falling asleep anywhere just a random quirk of his or is it because he’s constantly busy running around and can’t catch a break? I hope it’s the latter, at least it’s the vibe I got from his very first impression.

Uhm, most of my speculations were already in the main section. Maybe I’ll handle this differently next time. But I still have more to talk about. First of all: Zoro.

He got a lot of focus here, many reaction shots. And I can’t help but notice that he’s been incredibly tense, ever since they left Wano, more than usual. He’s constantly on edge, sweating, blood-thirsty and looking for a fight. Zoro is cautious when it comes to protecting his crewmates, but I can’t help but feel like he’s been even more cautious and serious recently, even anxious. I wanna say maybe this wasn’t intentional and is just how Oda uses to write him nowadays, but it’s Oda. He writes every scene, every panel, especially his main cast with a lot of attention and intention. Zoro usually doesn’t interfere in Luffy’s battles unless asked. He was really scared for Luffy’s life here. For Gaban this was just a test, but for Zoro this was serious. I hope this is all setup for Zoro breaking in the near future or having to learn some lesson. Until then, I’ll keep observing Zoro like a creature under a microscope and dissect him after every chapter.

Could this be future sight? I’m not saying it has to be, however, I hope he has it. And I hope Gaban teaches some of the straw hats some haki - like Usopp. ffs please can Usopp’s observation haki be acknowledged again, even once? It wasn’t since his display on Dressrosa. I can’t anymore.

Another completely unrelated speculation regarding Gaban I wanna leave here: Ripley might not be his only love and Colon might not be his only child. I think there’s a possibility it’s an open relationship and Gaban travels a lot to spend time with his family, ‘cause he FOR ONCE is a present father. Oh, and Gaban being the burnscar man is still on the table.

Imu gives his underlings magical powers, but what happens if a random person manually draws a summoning circle? Would it also work? When Brook was “summoned”, would it have actually worked if they’d drawn the correct one? Who would come out? A random God’s Knight, a random Elder, Imu, or something else? The devil itself? Davy Jones? I hope we get an answer to this. Like, I just wanna know if it’d work at all.

I had the idea to start overanalyzing One Piece from chapter 1 and create long posts about specific characters or themes for a while now, but the decision to yap about the latest chapters as they come out only came in 1139 with fucking Gaban. I CAN’T SHUT UP ABOUT HIM. And I can’t get over this chapter. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE’S LEAVING ALREADY??? He blessed us with his presence for only two chapters and that’s it? How long will I have to wait till I see him again? This fr makes me fucking cry T-T I was so excited for him since the Oden flashbacks and am sooooooooooooooooo happy he’s the mystery man. I love axes as weapons and he wields TWO??? That goes so hard. I lololove his long, fluffy hair. The sunglasses look so cool. And now his old man design is so fucking cool as well. I love the braid in his beard so much. The old man fit looks great on him (and I can imagine Sanji rocking that one day just as well). Oda just knows how to do it. Bless him. And even in this chapter, I couldn’t help but get distracted by how prettily, beautifully, sexily, well he drew him here. Down to his fucking posture.

I don’t have much to say about Yamato’s cover story yet. Little girl O-Tama beating up evil guys is cool. Ulti and Page1 are probably going to join Yamato if he saves them. I’m not a big fan of these two, but Ulti’s dedication on this page is admirable. Two daggers hit her and three just barely grazed her, and she doesn’t care, she only cares about her brother’s safety. (I wouldn’t be surprised tho if she’s the one who got them into this situation lol)

Okay. This is going to be long and probably confusing but I felt the urge to address Zoro's body count, or if it even exists. Because a part of the fandom is divided in either Team "Zoro kills" or Team "Zoro does not kill". And while watching OPLA I had to think about this. I can't provide sources but thing is that Luffy doesn't employ murderers (he kind of said that one way or another and has kind of a "no killing in my crew" policy, Oda more or less said the same thing and had Zoro state that he uses the back of his blades in a fight (which is a blatant lie btw) so he wouldn't kill his opponents (which is bullshit as pointed out by Nami bc he still can cause serious lethal injuries wielding his swords like that) and I've come across multiple discussions if Zoro actually does kill his opponents or not. Even if it's not explicitly shown or confirmed. Long story short: with Eiichiro Oda being the creative supervisor behind the One Piece live action series on Netflix, making sure the show stays somewhat close to the source and the characters don't divert (too much) from the original ones, I think it's safe to assume that Zoro, canonical, indeed kills/killed people.

Because Oda let it happen that OPLA Zoro cut Mr. 7 in half on screen. And when OPLA Zoro fought Buggy, he immediately aimed for Buggy's neck, intending to straight up behead the clown without hesitation. These scenes alone should be enough proof of Zoro's killing intent, which doesn't necessarily mean he intends to kill each of his opponents (he does spare numerous others as the series goes on). But if Zoro wasn't meant to actually kill some of his enemies, Oda wouldn't have greenlit these scenes, and it debunks the "Zoro's not a killer" theory for me. To me, it feels as if Oda, thanks to the show's rating, had the opportunity to show a few things he wasn't allowed to portray in the original source material, because "a hero doesn't kill" and so on, and I have to say I like this "darker / more grim" version of Zoro, it always felt natural to me that he's not afraid to fatally injure an opponent anyway, because why would a swordsman assume he would never kill someone during battle. There's just always the possibility, same as Zoro could be killed in each battle he faces. It's just how it is. He's not engaging in pillow fights. But live action Zoro killing people on screen, greenlit by Oda, makes it canon for me that Zoro kills. Serving under Luffy or not. Doesn't necessarily mean he killed each of the 100 bounty hunters on Whiskey Peak, or all of these fishmen in Arlong Park and so on and so forth. But certainly a good percentage of them. He's just as unafraid of killing an opponent as he is unafraid of dying and I think it suits his character well. My hc or understanding of the character is that Zoro does indeed aim to kill certain opponents when he considers them too dangerous for a reason, but with others he fights, he makes sure to defeat them, but also ensures they're gonna stay alive or at least have the chance to survive his cuts. He's fully aware of which damage his attacks are and how and where to cut a person to have them survive his blows or not. Means he knows how to seriously injure one, without the attack being lethal. Imagine being at the mercy of his blades, his mood, and if he considers you dangerous or just in the way... a scary thought.

And no, Zoro would not kill a member of the Straw Hats if Luffy would give him order of doing so, for whichever reason Luffy would ever tell him that. Zoro would rather fight Luffy for this than actually going for any of his nakama's lives like where does that bs even come from

That was fun, if you don't know Cindry always borrowed from a famous ghost story about a spirit named Okiku. Which means you maybe need to think a little more in hindsight about her being an actress whose story relies on a theme of toxic obligation. We touched on Moria a bit, how he serves as a warning to what lies ahead. But I always wanted to give him his due. He's such a good seed for the yonko; baiting the idea of separating the crew, the zombies as an analogue for infighting, his shadow keeping you from even touching him. How many people did he beat without lifting a finger? This becomes a huge motif by Totland & Wano.

Moria is a great villain, though I'll never fault a younger fan for not quite getting it yet. Other characters share this idea of their dreams dashed by the buzzsaw of the New World, but Moria is the one who really embodies it. He's not just someone who experienced loss, he's defined by it. I mean this in the nicest way possible, you won't truly relate to Moria unless you've had some kind of tangible past success. Laurels to rest on long enough you know how dangerous that can be. I love this "whiteout" panel, how his face looks so bat-like. If you need a refresher on why this pertains to Kiku:

Kiku's introduction already leans on drawing from One Piece's history, subtly baiting key associations. Bat-Man being one of the first Gifters is certainly a choice, and his extremely shallotesque shape reinforces the reference. For those who don't know, Moria's animal motif isn't a gecko. It's a bat, Gecko Moria. Komori=bat. That in Kiku's intro is worth pointing out alone, much moreso when we get an update on Moria paired with a reflection (Catarina) of what we just highlighted out of the star of the first act. Those two are solid thematically, now add the Ringo ripple.

Does it have to mean anything? No, but theoretically if we wanted to have one of the Akazaya involved somehow there's a certain logic to Kiku the Ringo native being the intuitive choice. It's just like the Shanks/Buggy angle. We have someone so oddly worldly in Wano and yet again a known thread is set up it can easily run through her. I might actually want to see a flashback of Kiku & Moria having a chance encounter over Shanks. If only because I can guess how Shanks would go. You think Moria might make a play at recruiting the demonic prodigy of the Akazaya? Say what you will about his necromancy, which I'd imagine Kiku would abhor, I don't see Moria being the type to care about the trans aspect. Being earnestly good about it like Luffy seems reasonable.

Moria though, just as a villain he's grown on me. Or really I've grown, lost groups of people I once felt brought out the best in me. Lazily replaced them with shadows, spun my wheels in a position that sounded like a good enough spot to be in. I get Moria, he's kinda over it but hasn't fully given up. Just taking a lazier, safer approach because he's scared of what lies ahead. Shadows Asgard and taking in 1000 shadows is a big example of growing on me. Makes so much more sense when you see how Kaido/Wano builds off of the concept. Moria has the power to be a top contender, he doesn't have the will to control it. Shadow Asgard, false divinity.

Back then, even the Straw Hats see it right away. Luffy turns to the crew and tells them to take care of the rest cause he's gonna get reckless. I love the parallel of Luffy having to take on a taste of Moria's true power and Zoro well, that time when nothing happened. Kuma's getting plenty of focus now but we'll wait until the flashback ends to do him proper. Keeping that strong and famous crew he could count on over more zombie mooks won the day. That under the threat of daybreak is good shit.
