Dwayne finds you on the roof of your apartment building, asleep in a lawn chair, your hands tucked into the pockets of your quilted jacket. Your gun rests within arm’s reach, on the small side table you use for your morning coffee. If that isn’t a sign that’s somethings wrong in your world then he doesn’t know what is.

He crouches down in front of you, his palm coming to rest on your shoulder, squeezing lightly. You jerk awake, your hand going for your weapon but Dwayne is already there, cupping your face so that his own fills your vision.

“It’s ok.” He whispers, his forehead coming to resting upon yours. “It’s me, it’s just me.”

Your hands clutch onto coat, the fabric bundling in your fists as his thumb lightly caresses your cheek. Your skin is cool to the touch, it feels like ice underneath the pads of his fingers.

“You been out here all night?” He asks you and you nod your head because you can’t bring yourself to speak right now, everything is too raw, too painful. “Because you thought he was going to hurt you again?”

Another nod.

He’s starting to understand now what happened in Atlanta, how you ended up with those bruises on your body.

“Did he come to see you last night?” He asks you, his nose trailing over yours. “Is that why you didn’t come home to me?”

“He turned up at the precinct, he was sitting at my desk…” You trail off then, your grip on his jacket tightening. “I couldn’t let him find out about you, I couldn’t…”

“Ro, I couldn’t love you more for trying to protect me but that ship has sailed.” Dwayne says softly. “He came to see me this morning, he knows all about us.”

You break then, he watches the pieces of you fracture because you’ve been trying to deal with this all on your own for so long now and it’s just too much. You can’t keep this secret anymore, you have to tell him what Jared did to you so that he understands the type of man he’s dealing with.

“Dwayne I haven’t seen honest about what happened in Atlanta,” You say quietly as you wipe the back of your hand across your eyes. “Jared, he did it again, he tried to kill me again.”

You had just returned from an undercover operation, where you’d had to wear an outfit that you’d much rather forget about than have to wear again. It really hadn’t been something that you would normally wear but given you’d had to go undercover to a nightclub to find your suspect and drag him out you guess you had no choice but to wear the white batwing bodycon dress. Now back at the office and in your own clothes ready to write up your report your shocked at the words that leave your work partners lips

“Ya know that outfit looked really good on ya Y/N” he says, biting his lip subtly and you blush flustered. You’d had a crush on your partner for the last two years so hearing him say that was definitely not making this easier. So you decided to brush it off

“Oh… Th-thank you haha” you say, turning back to your computer. When you look up again you're shocked to see Chris standing right in front of your desk.

“Ah’d like ta take ya out on a date sometime Y/N, please?” he asks and you gasp

“I-uh, yes” you reply.

“How about tomorrow night then, Ah’ll pick ya up at 7.30” he says Alabama accent dripping as he makes his way back over to his desk and you nod

“S-sure, sounds good” you stutter.

Ok you need to stop tempting me to write

how ncis characters act when they’re jealous:

characters: leroy jethro gibbs, dwayne pride, tony dinozzo, chris lasalle, tim mcgee, tammy gregorio, nick torres, sebastian lund

a/n: might make a part two with more characters if i get the inspo

leroy jethro gibbs: he wouldn’t realize it was jealousy until somebody points it out. he’s usually wearing this stern look with hard eyes so jethro’s jealousy takes the form of not talking at all. and lots of staring. he would internalize his behavior as being concerned for you, or something not feeling right deep in his gut. and the guy who’s taking up so much of your attention will forever be an annoyance to gibbs.

jethro doesn’t interfere, though. not unless he feels like he has to - until then, gibbs will likely just sulk in the corner until you were free. but you can really start to feel his jealousy once you’re at his side again and he’s barely saying two words to you and still glaring at the annoying bastard. if you ask him what’s wrong, he’ll say it’s nothing. and later, when you both are alone, that’s when he reflects and feels like a stupid ass for acting the way he did.

dwayne pride: honestly, he gets a Kicked Puppy Vibe whenever he’s feeling jealousy. dwayne is a very sensitive person and he feels the loss of your presence like the sunshine hiding behind a cloud. he’ll try to ignore that twisted up feeling in his stomach and go on to enjoy the night, but dwayne always finds you in the crowd. always huffs a little when he sees you with someone else. always reins himself in from stealing your attention away.

later on, his affection is amped up to the max. dwayne will absolutely shine under your attention, and he’ll honestly get a bit clingy for the rest of the night. of course, he knows himself well enough to know what he’s doing. he feels a little embarrassed by it. so maybe some of the kisses he gives you is his secret way of apologizing.

tony dinozzo: he doesn’t get jealous. not at all. why should tony care if this loser keeps making you laugh so fucking hard at jokes that aren’t even funny? he only steps in because this other guy is so wildly unfunny that tony is afraid you might just die of boredom, and as you know so well, tony is a pretty heroic guy. it’s his job to take you far, far away from the asshole who was starting to stand just a little too close.

tony couldn’t hide his jealousy to save his own life. he likes to believe he’s suave and cunning and doesn’t let things get to him. and maybe that’s true for most things. but just as soon as he gets you alone, tony has this primal need to pull you in close and remind you what’s what. he doesn’t like to think of it as proving himself, but the marks on your neck prove differently…

chris lasalle: very little truly gets under christopher’s skin, and jealousy isn’t one of them. sure, he likes your attention, but chris is also very secure in the relationship. it’s kinda hard to feel threatened when he’s the one who lead you into the party, arm over your shoulders, showing you off and giving lots of kisses and doesn’t really give a fuck who sees. he might even revel in the fact that onlookers start to feel a little jealous of him.

if there’s any jealousy to be had, it’s toward your glass because your hands and mouth are all over it, instead of him. it’s toward the music itself for making you move so fluidly and sexy. it’s toward the liquor for putting that big grin on your face when chris should be doing that himself. he does later, rest assured. makes dumb jokes when his hands are all over your body, and he has nothing left to be jealous over.

tim mcgee: if jealousy could be adorable, it would be on tim. he’s prone to self-consciousness and self-doubt, and that would all come out whenever his position with you feels threatened. he loves and trusts you explicitly - it’s just his own dumb head making up crazy thoughts that you’ll find somebody better than him and tim works himself into a frenzy and he ends up embarrassing himself in front of you in some way or another.

at home, tim just apologizes. stutters his excuses with pink cheeks and shaky fingers. it won’t be until a while into the relationship when he’s more confident and self-assured. but until then, sometimes you just gotta wrap your arms around him and hold him tight and let him figure out for himself that you really do love him - even when you can hear abby reassuring him from across the room.

tammy gregorio: when she’s feeling jealous, it’s going to be loud and it’s going to be obvious. tammy will deny it, of course. insist she isn’t the jealous type and that she’s got more self-respect than that. but she’s not the only eagle-eyed person on the team - you can always see her watching you from across the room if somebody’s getting a little too friendly. she’ll tell you over and over she doesn’t feel threatened, but it’s always proven wrong when tammy always subtly puts herself between you and some slimy asshole.

even if you call her out on it later, she wouldn’t really care. in fact, tammy will probably turn it around on you, somehow - ask why you were paying so much attention to how she reacted. did you want her to get jealous? do you think it’s hot when tammy intervenes and puts on her Scary Agent Face? you’ll say no, of course. but she’s a profiler.

nick torres: this man is an opportunist. that’s how he lived as an undercover agent, and that bleeds into his normal life. nick will take the hot, twisted jealousy he’s feeling and turn it into something he can really enjoy. this means coming up to you, grinning at the guy who’s been chatting you up, and really laying it on thick. kissing you, touching you, making sly little comments. nick is also really good at insulting people without actually saying anything rude (which he does.)

nick will act all innocent at home when you confront him. he’ll tell you that he just likes showing his girl off because you’re too fucking cute. but that act doesn’t hold up for very long, and nick just kinda ends up insulting the guy some more by saying he was an idiot and didn’t deserve you and he kinda smelled anyway so why would you ever give him the time of day?

sebastian lund: a man who’s in touch with his feelings knows when he’s feeling jealous, and it just makes sebastian feel guilty. he trusts you more than he trusts anybody else, and he knows you wouldn’t do anything - still, sebastian just gets this unfamiliar tightness in this stomach when he hears you laugh across the room and it wasn’t him you were laughing at. he’ll push it down and try to act nonchalant and like he doesn’t notice you. it doesn’t work. everybody on the team picks up on it and they just look sympathetic.

sebastian would get talkative at home. he can usually talk a lot on normal occasions, but now, he just feels like he wants to have your attention and rambling is the best way for him to do that. sebastian probably won’t even stop talking until you two lay in bed, and his words are stunted by a soft kiss. he’ll eventually feel better - at least until the next day when he’s teased about it.

Walking into the office was nothing seemed abnormal, it was partly decorated for Christmas with a few coloured fairy lights hung across the ceiling.

Doing what you usually did which was walk into the kitchen to make a new pot of coffee but walking in you collided with Pride on accident.

“Sorry Pride” You mumbled and started moving away from him but was stopped by two hands on your shoulders which pushed you into Pride again.

“No skipping on tradition Y/N” you heard LaSalle say so you looked up.

“Who put the mistletoe above the kitchen door?” Pride asked before he glared at LaSalle.

LaSalle acted like he did nothing, “I wonder who put that up there, now hurry up with tradition we would all like to get in for coffee.”

You just quickly pecked Pride’s lips before pushing past him to the outdoor area out from the kitchen.

29. “I know I’ve kissed you like, ten time, but just like another ten, please.”

Lazy day

When you learned why was Dwayne nicknamed ‘King’, you knew you weren’t dating a regular man.

But nothing prepared you for what it would be like. Him being a driven federal agent who loved his city more than reason. Dwayne’s ultimate wish was for New Orleans to be a safe place for its inhabitants and tourists, no matter that he knew it was impossible. He overworked himself and took uncontrollable risks everyday. Pretty much like when he got shot twice and almost died.

You were seriously getting worried about him. He wasn’t taking time for himself, always 100% into work even when he was at home. You even talked to his team and realized that they were worried too, but Dwayne was a stubborn man.

So you came up with a plan to force him to take a day off. You knew it was a risk. He wasn’t the kind of man to get mad at you - especially when your intention was to take care of him - but he could get frustrated with your plan. It could make things worse, but you had to do it for his own sake, for his health - physical and mental.

You planned everything with Tammy one night as the team was having a drink at the Tru Tone. And two days later, it was on.

You woke up before he did, and turned off his alarm. He was deep in his sleep, he didn’t even hear you getting out of bed. Tammy was waiting outside. You opened the door, gave her the keys and she locked the both of you inside. “Let him sleep as much as possible!” She winked and left.

You joined him in bed, and spooned him. For a moment you were afraid he would wake up but all he did was sighing before softly snoring again. With a smile on your face, you fell back asleep.

A little more than an hour later, you felt him rushing out of bed. You opened your eyes and watched him getting dress in a hurry. “I’m late, darling. And so are you, actually.”

He stared, puzzled that you were rushing like he was. “Drop the jeans and come back to bed.” You told him. “You can’t go anywhere anyway.” He looked completely confused now. “We’re locked in. Lazy day for the both of us.”

“Sweetheart, I can’t—“

You stood up on the bed, reaching for his shoulders. “I know I’m taking a risk here. But you need to rest, D. And since I know you won’t do it on your own, I’m forcing your hand.”

“Did you—hide the keys or something?”

“Would’ve been too easy. Someone locked us in. Only way out? Jumping from the balcony.” You watched him taking a look into the living area, where you could reach the balcony. “Tell me you’re not thinking about jumping your way out.”

“It’s not that high.”

“Dwayne Cassius Pride! Seriously!”

He sighed with a small smile. He grabbed you by your hips and pressed your body against his. “What are we supposed to do today then?”

Smiling, you kissed his jawline, cheeks and nose. “Absolutely nothing.” You pressed your lips against his. “Laying in bed, sleeping, eating properly, having sex.”

With his forehead against yours, he exhaled intensely, “that does sound really nice.” He held you tighter.

“So, you’re not upset?” You kissed his neck.

“I am—infuriated. But I’ll take it out on my team later. ‘Cause I guess they are in on it.”

It was mostly Tammy but you weren’t throwing her under the bus. So you just hummed in response, kissing him more intensely until he fell back into bed with you, his strong body covering yours.

He made love to you. It was slow and sweet and very Dwayne Pride. With your schedules, and how worked up he’s been for a year, you weren’t the kind of couple to have sex everyday. But you didn’t mind because when you finally had the opportunity to be intimate, Dwayne was fully there with you. You never admitted it directly to him but he was the best sex you’ve ever had.

As you were laying in bed, you told him the ground rules for the day. You told him that everytime he talked about work, and even think about it - admitting that you can see it on his face when he does - he’d lose ten minutes of his time with you.

“What?” He chuckled, holding you close to his chest.

“You heard me. If there’s a hint of shoptalk today, I’m depriving you of me for ten long minutes.”

He kissed your temple, agreeing to the rule.

You cooked him breakfast - that you ate in bed - and around noon, Dwayne was fast asleep. Laying shirtless on bed, the sheets only covering his legs, you were softly caressing all over his torso when your fingers focused around the bullet wound right above his heart. “If I’m not allowed to talk or think about work, you’re not allowed to think about this.” He said.

You leaned down to kiss his shoulder, close to the wound. “Just one thing.” He opened his eyes to look at you. “That was when I knew—that you were the love of my life, Dwayne.” You confessed, “I was losing you and I couldn’t help but to think that I’ve never told you just how much I love you.”

Dwayne smiled, squeezing your hand in his. “I knew it, darling. You never had to say it. You and Laurel were the reasons why I fought hard.”

You curled up against him, resting your head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat and you both took a little nap.

He failed to leave work out of the door. He checked his phone late in the afternoon, thinking that you were in the bathroom.

“Checking your phone is the ultimate offense, Pride. The ten minutes turned into thirty.”

“Aw come on sweetheart!” He whined, “Don’t do this to me.”

He tried to reach for you but you took a step back. You grabbed his phone to set the alarm thirty minutes later. “I’ll see you in half an hour. Nap on the couch.”

He tried to reach for you again but you rushed into the bedroom and locked yourself in the bedroom. You waited for the alarm to go off, and it was thirty very long minutes, knowing that he was just right there.

When you unlocked the door, Dwayne was standing there. Almost like he stood behind the door, waiting for the minutes to be over. He grabbed you in a second and threw the both of you onto the bed. His mouth was all over you. “Don’t ever deprived me of you again.” He groaned.

“You knew the rules.” You chuckled.

He held you and kissed you like he hadn’t seen you in months. Laughing, you tried to get out of his hold but he wasn’t letting you go. “I need to go the bathroom.”

“You had thirty minutes to go.”

“I didn’t want to and now I do.”

With a grown, he let you go. But as soon as you came back, he was all over you again, “I know I’ve kissed you like, ten times, but just like another ten, please.”

You pushed him to make him roll over. You straddled him, and you were the one kissing him. Neither of you had much clothes on, but what you had quickly ended on the floor.

“You wanna know when I knew I won’t be able to love anyone else no matter what happens between us?” He asked, between two kisses.

“When?”

“Today.”

“Will that be all?” The cashier at the pharmacy asked through her cheery smile. You nodded.

“Yes, Thanks.” She handed you the small bag.

“Have a great day!” You smiled back.

“You too!” You headed toward the exit before pausing. You looked down into the bag at the pregnancy test and bit your lip. You'd been feeling sluggish for a few weeks now, and you'd googled your symptoms and the internet said you were pregnant, now what were you going to do? The walk back to the apartment was short, but you were desperate to know what the test said, so you headed to the bathroom in the back.

You took the test, surprised at how easy it was. With a pregnancy being such a life altering event you just thought it'd be...harder. When those two pink lines appeared you could feel your heart jumping out of your chest. You'd wanted this for so long! But you didn't know if you were ready for a family just yet. It was a bit awkward at the checkout when you grabbed three more pregnancy tests. If this was a fake positive you were damn well gonna be sure. You took them home, hoping Dwayne might be back from the office by then, but when you called out you were met by just your echo. You sent him a text to head home when he can. He asks if something’s wrong and you say no, since it's not wrong, it's just a huge step in your relationship. Sure, Dwayne's been a father for years, but you've never had a kid before. Dwayne rushed home despite your reassurances and as soon as he came bursting through the front door it's like he fucking knows. How does he do that? You hold up the pregnancy test and he freezes. You're preparing for the worst before the biggest smile comes across his face.

“Really?” You shrug, crying a little.

“I wanted you to be here when I found out for sure.” It was only fair, this was his baby too, if it was real. Dwayne can't find the words, he's just so damn happy. It was like he was radiating sunshine.

“Well, let's find out then.”

Dwayne followed you to the bathroom and sat on the floor while you did the other tests. Now it was just the waiting game as you settled on the floor next to him.

“(Y/n),” Dwayne starts, clears his throat and wraps his arm around you. You lean into his side. “Whatever these tests say it's all right either way. I'll still love you, you know that right?” You scoff.

“Of course I know that! I just really want to start a family with you, Dwayne.” You smile. “You make me so happy. You're already such a great dad to Laurel, I know you'll be a great one to this one too, you know, if it's true.” He kisses your forehead.

“Thank you, Baby.” You let another few minutes pass before sitting up straighter.

“They should be ready by now.” You said, your voice wavering. You were so nervous. Had you gotten your hopes up for nothing? Dwayne took one of your hands in his, the other on the pregnancy tests.

“Alright,” He suggested. “ We’ll turn them over on three, okay?” You nodded. This was it, the moment of truth! “One, two, three!” Dwayne flipped all three over and you started to cry. They were all positive!

“We’re pregnant.” You laughed. “We're pregnant!” Dwayne kept that big ol’ smile on his face as he stood up, then helped you to your feet. He wrapped you up in a hug and squeezed you right up against him.

“We're gonna be parents.” Dwayne laughed. “Oh Baby, I'm so glad.” That hug never seemed to end as you two stared down at the tests on the floor. This was one of the best days of your life. You couldn't wait to become a mother and couldn't wait to see Dwayne with your baby in his arms. Just the thought of it made you tremble. Your lives were about to change forever, but you’re willing to take on the task of taking care of this baby. Now what were you going to name them?

Standing in the NCIS: LA headquarters, Chris O'Donnell and Gary Cole are all smiles. But then someone calls out “action!” and the mood instantly changes. No one’s smiling, dancing, or joking around, because it’s time to get serious as the actors film the last hour of the three-episode crossover event, in which all five characters share the screen for the first time ever.

“This is the first time that we’re in the bullpen and we’re trying to break down what’s going on, it’s the first time with Gary — this is a big day,” Lachey tells EW on the Los Angeles set in between takes. “We’re doing something that has never been done before in the history of NCIS and that is bringing all three of these shows together. It would’ve been amazing if NOLA was still around and we could have had the four of us, a little quad, but it’s just an honor to be a part of this now.”

In the crossover event (check out EW’s exclusive first-look photos from each episode below), all the fan-favorite agents from each show team up to solve a case in a heart-pounding story line, as they attempt to take down a mysterious threat who is targeting several of their own. The story begins when team members from the different NCIS divisions come together in Washington, D.C. to celebrate a beloved FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) professor who taught multiple members of each squad. On the eve of the celebration, the professor is found dead of an apparent suicide, but his former students immediately suspect foul play. While investigating his past, they uncover a mysterious hitman, and the more they dig into it, the bigger the targets on their backs become. When members of the team are suddenly kidnapped, the agents assemble to take down the assassin and save their own.

In the scene they’re filming on this early October day, Lachey’s Agent Tennant takes control of the case after all the others try to assume authority. “I am the special agent in charge in Hawai'i, and I get to talk to Todd [LL Cool J] and Chris’ characters and Gary’s character and Wilmer’s character and stand literally beside them, demand respect, and take over leadership,” Lachey says. “She’s a badass woman with a warm heart commanding all these strong men with grace and humor, and it’s a really cool moment for me.” She laughs before adding, “I love my job.”

Watching all five leaders of their respective shows battle for authority is thrilling, as they’re each larger than life on their own home turfs. But now, they’re all together in a moment that fans have been dying to see for years — and the reality is even better than what anyone could have imagined. “It’s a pretty traditional chain of command amongst each show office and that’s being thrown together because people have different positions within NCIS and suddenly it all gets mixed up,” O'Donnell explains. “It’s interesting, at first it’s like they’re coming in our home and telling us what to do. ‘Wait a second, Kilbride’s not here,’ but there’s a chain of command so you have to respect that.”

While this scene takes place in the third and final hour of the crossover, it’s actually the first time all five actors have been in the same scene together, and they all keep talking about how cool it is to finally get here. “It’s like all the superheroes of procedurals coming together for the first time in history. It’s iconic,” Valderrama marvels. “It’s going to feel like it should’ve happened a long time ago, and I think it’s going to feel like a tribute for the trajectory of all these shows, especially a really incredible moment to honor the mothership after 20 years of NCIS.”

LL Cool J was surprised at how easily all five actors got into the swing of things while filming this scene especially. “It felt like we’ve been doing that for years together, not as separate groups. That’s pretty special,” he says. “There’ll be action. There’ll be thrills. There’ll be rollercoaster rides. All of the chills and the fun and the craziness that they are used to, but seeing how the personalities interact — it’s like how Batman and Superman interact, or in the Marvel Universe, how all the different superheroes interact. Seeing these characters from the NCIS-verse come together and the way they communicate and connect is going to be interesting, and I think fans will be excited about that.”

But while each actor can’t stop praising the excitement of this moment, they all know why it’s taken so long to see a three-show crossover come to fruition, despite how badly the fans have been asking for it. “It logistically is really challenging for the production. And it’s tough on the writers,” O'Donnell says. “I mean, not only do they have to make one story line that goes through three episodes on three different shows, they’ve got to keep their own show going and come up with a story line where you’re missing some of your key actors. That’s really a challenge. All the credit goes to the writers and the producers that are able to make it work.”

Cole says with a laugh, “Whoever figured out the shooting schedule, they need to get a big gold star.”

Bringing together all three shows for one event meant making the case they’re solving bigger and more personal than anything they’ve encountered before. “There’s somebody who’s out for the heads of everybody on the team, and this is a challenge that just one particular squad or one team of NCIS wouldn’t be able to handle,” LL Cool J says. “It’s a larger threat than we normally have to deal with, and geographically this threat spans multiple regions, so it takes the trifecta, it takes all three of us coming together to deal with it. And there’s a really important NCIS member who’s missing as well, so it gets crazy.”

O'Donnell loves how the threat level is more intense than ever. “We realize we’re up against some formidable foes, and we’re suddenly the hunted,” he teases. “This person has now put us up on this website, all our photos, and has every gang member and cartel member trying to hunt us down. We’ve got to watch our step here. Certainly if you’re going to bring together all these shows, you might as well raise the stakes and ratchet up the action and the drama, the humor, everything.”

But when mixing three different shows, it became a challenge to make sure each show is represented equally. “I know the fans will be curious to see how these worlds collide, since this is something they’ve wanted to see for a long time,” O'Donnell says.

“All three shows have their own distinctive styles,” Cole explains. “They seem to carry a lot more heavy weaponry on this show than we ever get involved with, like grenade launchers and helicopters. We’re all just carrying our little pistols around. And Hawai'i has great weather. The challenge is to get comfortable as quickly as you can. I really go moment by moment, scene by scene and just do your part of it, fit into the puzzle of that story.”

Valderrama was especially excited to see how each show’s tone was brought together into one story. “The tricky part is really making sure that tonally, we all meet in a line in what we got to do and that our characters are performing at their strength and where we were meant to be created at. And when you talk about all these alphas meeting, working together, it’s about love and it’s about respect for each other’s environment. Every single one of the team members in the show are very confident within their characters so if the scene is written effortlessly, then everyone’s going to have a beautiful moment to shine. And we’ve all known each other for years, so there’s a level of familiarity where all of us are rooting for each other and making sure that we have what we need to shine.”

Now that the first three-show crossover is about to air, the stars are looking forward to doing even more large events like this in the future. “The NCIS-verse, the fans always wanted it,” LL Cool J says. “Since we’ve been doing the show, fans have always asked me, ‘Are you ever going to be on the original?’ So this was a natural step and a natural progression to me. It makes sense. It’s fun, it’s innovative. Working with everybody, that’s what it was about for me, to be honest — working with new people and putting yourself in the mindset of a fan that is used to seeing these people in certain bubbles and places. And now they’re piercing a veil and crossing into another world. They’re getting to see how these characters interact and the energy around it is special. It feels like it’s the beginning of something beautiful.”

Cole is “sure” that fans will see more three-show crossovers in the future. “It’s as natural a way to write these stories as anything because in reality, agencies that are nationwide and have regional offices have to work together because bad guys don’t stay in one place all the time,” he says. “I think that makes sense. And when you do [these crossovers], there always can be tension and conflict about who’s in charge because in reality, there’s been people rubbed the wrong way from different agencies that collide on each other and fight for control. But you can’t demand respect, you have to earn it, and hopefully you see all these characters doing just that.”

It’s early and Dwayne’s already seated at his desk, sipping from a cup of chicory and signing off LaSalle’s most recent case reports. The reason he’s here at the crack of dawn is because you didn’t come home last night. You’d text him to say you were working a double but when he’d stopped by the precinct to drop off breakfast beignets this morning the front desk had said you weren’t on shift.

It’s the first time you’ve lied to him.

We need to talk. He’d texted you when he stepped out the building because this thing that’s going on with you, it’s starting to get out of control.

It’s the rap on the open door that captures his attention. He raises his head to see Roy, the security officer standing in the doorway, a well-dressed man standing alongside of him. His dark hair is artfully coiffed, there’s designer stubble lining his jaw, he looks like he’s just stepped off the cover of GQ magazine with that suit that costs more than six month’s wages.

“Lieutenant Jared Russell, Atlanta Police Department.” He says as Dwayne raises to his feet.

It all clicks into place for Dwayne then, the bad dreams, the withdrawn behaviour, the distance because he knows what this man did to you, you still wear the scars of it on your skin.

“I came to meet the man that’s sleeping with my wife.”

Dwayne Pride and reader’s wedding day, and (the ex-boyfriend) mayor Hamilton clashes the wedding reception

Everything was going perfectly, you were stood between your close family and friends in an intimate ceremony in the bar when the doors slam open.

“I hope I’m not missing out on anything important here Dwayne” you hear the arrogant voice of Mayor Hamilton chorus as he makes his way over to you and your fiance.

“Ya weren’t invited Douglas, what the hell do ya think ya doin’ here?” your fiance asks, his jaw clenched in irritation at having been interrupted on such a special day. He shoots you an apologetic look and you give his hand a reassuring squeeze.

“I’m hurt Dwayne. But we had a promise. You had 72 hours to help solve the case and yet I find you here instead with these people” he casts a scowl over all of you and when his gaze lands on you he smirks

“You could’ve done better Dwayne, so much better” and that’s when you lose your cool. You punch him, not caring about the repercussions. His head snaps back as blood starts to trickle from his nose and you seeth as you say voice pitched slightly lower as you say

“You heard Dwayne, you weren’t invited Douglas. Our wedding has been planned for months and we weren’t going to put it off for you or anyone else. So you can either be civil and enjoy the vows and then fuck off out of my sight before the ceremony or just fuck off all together and we will resume the fucking case in the morning”. Your glaring at Douglas, waiting for him to bite back, but he shakes his head

“You better keep your word Dwayne, Y/N. Tomorrow morning 10am I want an update on what you know” he says as he turns and walks out the door. Your trying to calm yourself back down again when you feel the arms you so desperately adore being wrapped around your waist as he whispers

“That was very hot Y/N. Now can we get back to the vows?” you look at your fiance and nod

“Of course we can Dwayne” you say giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

WARM

It wasn’t new for you to go to bed before Dwayne came home. Sometimes you’d wait up, most of the time really, but Dwayne made you promise you’d go to sleep on time tonight. He knew you’d had a long week and needed your rest.

After your Spending your Friday night relaxing with some tea and rom coms, you climbed into bed in one of his sweatshirts, but couldn’t help but wake up hours later a little bit cold. It had been rather chilly for New Orleans and you always ran cold, especially when your personal space heater wasn’t there to snuggle you warm.

Your sleepy brain subconsciously had you scooting towards his side of the bed not expecting him to be there. You smiled as you hit the sturdy warm wall that was your boy friend.

“Hey baby you okay?” He rasped I’m his sleepy voice, letting you know he hadn’t been in bed long. He was usually a little harder to wake up once he really fell asleep.

“Better than okay, you’re home.” You said with a sleepy smile.

“And you’re cold c’mere”

He said as he wrapped you in his arms.

“Mmm…” you hummed and wriggled even closer “you’re so warm. You aren’t allowed to leave ever.”

“Wasn’t planning on it.” He smiled and kissed you head.

You snuggled into his warmth and fell back to a much needed sleep with the man you love.
