It’s been awhile I just want to remember a three year attempt in finishing my first IRONMAN distance race (3.8k swim - 180 km bike - 42.2 km run) to all the Coaches and Advice I got it became more memorable.

Started with a very concerning Saturday where I had to change inner tubes a total of eight times. With the help of my teammates and friends we just couldn’t put the tire back so had to go to the Expo to have it fix by a mechanic. Eventually meaning I will not be able to check in on Saturday.

Race day woke up early had breakfast took the bus to transition. Hearing this two Australian or American talking about that I won’t be able to check in really took its toll just had to answer them back were they surprise when I answered them.

Check in while everyone was inside already had to wait for them to check my bike and helmet before I can enter the transition area. Once entered there you can feel the coldness of the day 11 C according to the announcer at 5 am.

Since this is a swim jump no time to practice swimming in the lake. Whose temperature they said was 21 C but we felt it was colder. Really amazed that they started us on time especially with the fog which was worst than last year. So of the swim stayed in Wave F with speed suit while everyone is wearing their wetsuit. Dive in the water stop two times to get my bearings but when I started my rhythm no toward incident. No one hit me this time but definitely I was hitting back. As the European mentioned only in Asia were the swim is a battle for space. Finished my swim at 1:45:00 just the time on my wave. But going up the ramp was another thing. Picture this there is one small hole in the edge of the metal ramp. And guess what I step into it. Down for a few minutes and causing a scene where all the swim Marshall came to me to ask if I am okay. Standing up the head of the swim had me accompanied by a marshal till I got up the stairs to Transition 1.

Started the bike no issue in the start. Was taking my nutrition well. Decided to use Tailwind as my main nutrition through out the bike. But mixing it with spam and gel in different time. Since I bought sachet the plan is to stop at water station to refill and mix and stop at special needs to get my sandwiches. Also mixing this with salt stick and base salt as my anti cramping. Target to finish the bike in less than 8 hours or at least target a 4:30 PM finish. But was not meant to be suffered a flat on first loop of the bike going up th 2nd part of the loop. Since of the experience of the previous day my mind set was when I get a flat time to call it a day. Oh well but I remember seeing there is a bike mechanic at the turn around so I just walked backed to the turn around and had the mechanic fix the wheel. And I am sure the mechanic found it hard as well since he found it hard to replace same expression as the mechanic in the expo. Glad to see Nyla and she shouted you can still finish it.

So rode the bike after 15 - 20 min probably. Started up again then suffered another flat in the same area. This time I tried to use the Maffetti a tire sealant but it didn’t go in the tubes. Retzel pass by and Reujen and I can see the concern on their faces. With the help of the 2 CO2 canister I use went back to the same mechanic. This time he suggested we change the tire I just said go ahead. So another wait so at this time I just ate my sandwiches. This time the mechanic made sure there was no hole in the bike by pouring water on the wheels before he release me to join the race. What was mindset at this time already accepting the fate that I will again DNF at least I get to bike 180 km. So bike again this team just relaxing it but taking the downhill fast. No pressure just bike and still taking my nutrition at the same time. Until I finish the three loop I notice that I still had an hour to finish before the bike cut off. Riding back to transition two now my mindset change do I still have legs to run since I know I was pushing the bike. Reached transition two 5:15 PM cut off was 5:30 PM.

Took my time in transition 2 hoping to get my running legs to do a grueling marathon left transition 2 at 5:30 PM. Need to do a 6:30 marathon in order to reach the Midnight cut off. Never done that my best marathon was 6:30. So start of the run I was planning to do a run walk of 2:1 till i get into a rhythm of doing a 4:1. Nevertheless, looking at the first split I notice this will be to slow. I need to reach the 32 km by 10:30 PM as mentioned in the briefing. So change my plan I needed to run 7 km per hour so instead of doing a run walk of 4:1 I was doing already a 1 km run and a minute rest after the km. Nutrition plan was Gu Munchies and Gu Gel or SSI gel for the race at least 300 cal per hour. Felt bloated after the 1st hour so just change to lessen the calories. Last year suffered diarheia in this race so had no plans of eating solid food. Run was uneventful finish the first 7 km at 58 min, the 2nd 7 km at 59 min, the 3rd at 58 min (wow a personal record in doing my 1/2 marathon) and the 4th at 1 hour. Finally was able to pass 32km at 10:00 PM definitely will not get cut off this time time to relax so the 5th 7 km was around 1:05. Finally got to go to the run special needs to get my jacket didn’t notice that the weather was getting cold for the fear of nort finishing this. And at 11:47 PM I finally heard Witt calling my name “James Rosca you are an IRONMAN”.

In notes thanks to the people who followed me IM tracker I hope you weren’t that worried.

Lesson learned never give up and just as long as you prepared well you can do this. How did I get here first and foremost I have to thank iChef Foods for the diet from a high 210 lbs I was able to bring down my weight down to 190 lbs in a period of 8 month to Nylah and Gilbert for the referral. To my swim coach Noy Basa very patient and knows when to push me, To Coach Norman for the run workout and strengthening, To Coach PJ to the game plan and ARTSE sessions, To Coach Don V for the nutrition plan and metabolic test, To Coach Peter and Gica you guys taught me how to swim 8 years ago, to Coach Andy for the fitting, to Coach Pat for the cycling tips even in that one session learned a lot, to my teammates for believing in me go Greenhills Tri Team and to the peopl who accompanied me in the journey thanks for going with me to my failures and success. To my family thanks for putting up with me on this just had to remove it from the bucket list.

Can I get affordable car insurance with a company if I currently hold a policy with them?

I have a pretty ba driving record from about a year ago. I recently just bought a motorcycle and got insurance through them for $306 a year which is awesone. But it would also be nice to have a truck considering rain a cold weather. Now I've priced insurance through many different company's for my 1996 mitsubishi mirage 2 door, and I was quoted at $219 a month with liability and that was the lowest. How am I supposed to afford car insurance?

I'm driving uninsured right now because for me to get car insurance is $900 every six months. That would crush me financially right now. Between rent and gas, and what little Starbucks pretends to pay me, not to mention food (and sometimes that's one meal a day, and even then it may be stealing expired sandwiches and pastries from the garbage can at Starbucks). So, it's utterly naive of the government to think of driving as a luxury , when in reality- when you have to travel 20 miles a day to get to work at Starbucks- walking is unrealistic. The bus routes do not go by there, by the way. How the hell do they expect a 24-year old man to afford car insurance, when he has to work to earn the money to pay for it, and he has to drive to work, and in order to drive he has to drive illegally?! Does the insurance company ( the other guys' fault) pay for rental car insurance?

I got swiped in the week. He is culpable and using his insurance Farmers. I get a rental while my car is in the shop. Farmers- do they pay for my rental insurance, if I am not covered to drive another car but my own? I have legal insurance- liability but not collision. THe guy who swiped me was extremely nice, giving me humbers and taking photos and so on- he was decent. But to pay extra for collision ( Enterprize mentioned this) it'll be 15-18 bucks a day. At this point, I'm fed up with having to drive around getting appraisals and do NOT think I should pay a dam thing. If I get a tiny scratch on the rental, they may ask me to pay for that, or will they? Please what are my options? The rental will take MY credit card for godsake ( I understand--I could just go sell it etc), but I do not see why I should be liable for even a tiny scratch, if I don't have that coverage for my own car and am happy to keep driving my own car that way- I will not be able ot drive my car a week or so while it's in the shop. Any advice- is Farmers right on this? Or did the customer service rep get it wrong? I'm confused right now. If I have to pay that collision ( god knows Enterprize could charge for a hailstone dent) then they guy who swiped me- he should pay them directly right? Please advise. Electrical job expense cost average?

For my hw, I am doing take off for a 1 story 28325 sq ft building. I have to account for the costs for the total job expense. The problem is I don't have experience in the industry. Can you give some average total cost for electrical distribution, branch, and lighting job. I already own a 4-door sedan, which I cover with monthly insurance for a reasonable value. Although recently, I had to rent a pick-up truck from Enterprise Rent-A-Car to move some furniture from a friend's house to my place. Upon sigining of the necessary rental documents, the rental car agent and I came across the section about insuring the rented vehicle; as Enterprise Rent-a-Car will always offer their own insurance services, I mentioned to them that I already have car insurance of my own, of which I can look forward to saving the additional $39 which Enterprise Rent-a-Car originally offers. I encouraged Enterprise Rent-a-Car to contact my insurance provider so that both of us can be sure that my car insurance provider will cover the pick-up truck I am about to borrow from them. (Full coverage that is) Everything went smoothly and Enterprise Rent-a-Car agreed to insure their truck under my own car insurance. My car insurance provider also approved of my intention to borrow the truck and cover the said truck using my insurance. Two weeks later came the insurance bill, and to my wondering, I saw that my following monthly insurance payments all jacked-up their prices to one dollar addtional per month! Huh?!?!?! What could have caused this? Could it be the fact that I have had the rented pick-up truck and the request to insure the said truck under my own car insurance resulting to a somewhat considerable claim of some sort? My Insurance auto accident settlement?

I was recently in a car accident where a Nissan truck ran into the back of another car that then ran into the back of me causing $2000 worth of damage to the rear of my infiniti. I received moderate whiplash to my neck and had to be taken to the hospital. I checked out without any broken bones and was prescribed medication. I went to see a chiropractor and he has been working on my neck for a couple days which makes it feel a better. Im 100% not at fault and the insurance company has taken care of my car repair, rental, and medical bills. They ask me How much do I think I want for this accident for pain and suffering. I believe I am entitled to at least $3500-5000 for my suffering I live in NC. I believe $5000 is a reasonable consider the circumstances. I could have lost my life, broke my neck and been paralyzed for life. Thank the lord that I received only a whiplash. The stress that I am undergoing, the constant pain in my neck is a reminder of the accident, which I feel fearful of driving. The time I spent recovering could have been spent enjoying my life. Besides getting behind in my school work, I am absent from my student organization at school which I am a key figure ( president AGC). I don't enjoy waking up with cramps and headaches nor do I like to take prescription pills, and therapy. I don't want to be compensation a insufficient amount that wont even cover pain and suffering I went though. hello.... so i purchased a vehicle in 2006..... didn't like it too much so i took it back to dealership and traded it for a different vehicle and bought full warranty on it. dealership said the warranty was good for 50000 miles or 4 years. the vehicle was totaled just recently and i owed about 7500 dollars on it. my insurance paid 6100 dollars for it and i was thinking ok no problem the gap will cover the rest , but the gap insurance is only paying 212 dollars on it. they said there was some left over loan on my old car which they will not cover... i don't know much this insurance crap but its really breaking my balls that i will have to paying almost a 1000 dollars out of my own pocket. is there any i can fight gap insurance and have them pay the entire left over loan??""
