It doesn't make sense! Any horse based society would use dogs, they can keep up with the horses and are useful as weapons and companions. The children are stated to ride in a carriage so it would make sense for at least two dogs to be with them to guard them when the adults are fighting

It's funny, when im out with Ella and people ask me about her it's always "is that a dachshund" or "what kind of dog is that" and then when I say she's a mutt, mostly dachshund probably, also chihuahua or terrier, people are chill and feel no need to be really like... blustery? About their dogs? They will usually just tell me about other dachshunds or small dogs they have or have known and that's it. When I was at the vet with the pubbies the other day though, I think it really intimidated this one other lady who was there with her dog -- she was an equestrian person and her dog was beautiful !! She asked about the pups and I told her, Anatolian shepherd, yeah they're livestock guardians, etc. And when I asked what kind of dog hers was (cannot emphasize how lovely this dog was and could not identify ANY of his traits for the life of me) she was like "he's a rescue" and I was like "Oh cool, do you have any idea what type of dogs went into him? I've never seen a dog like him before" and she got kind of. Flustered and kept saying he was a rescue! and she'd rescued him! and I realized afterwards maybe she thought I was like. Judging her mutt bc of my Two Beautiful Purebreds or something??? I don't know it's funny how ... ppl see me with one set of dogs and assume one thing but if they saw me out with Ella and Julia..... . . . . Lmao
