🗡around the same time, you start to notice a few things off around the workplace. whenever jeff, that asshole who keeps criticizing your article proposals, says something particularly harsh, he always coincidentally gets caught up on the toilet. you're not sure if it has something to do with the fact that rhiannon is the one handing him his morning coffee each morning with a sickly-sweet smile that you're sure is hiding years of disdain.

🗡and it's not just at your job, either - the sleazy guy on the trolley that always tries to cop a feel each time you pass him hasn't been on since you complained about him to rhiannon, pointedly avoiding eye contact when you notice him on the street as he rushes to take the tube instead. and the woman in your neighborhood who always complains your lawn decorations has been complimenting them more than usual, with a strange expression that you can't quite discern.

🗡if you though rhiannon's jealousy couldn't get any worse than it already can be, you'd be deathly wrong. when the two of you get together, it's like someone flipped a switch, and her jealousy increases tenfold.

🗡it starts out with subtle gestures and touches, innocuous things that you might not have been able to notice if you hadn't already been aware of her possessive tendencies. a hand wrapped around your waist while you're socializing, intertwining your fingers as you walk to work together, and an arm flung over your shoulders when you're at the pub. she always needs to be touching you in some way, and you don't mind one bit.

🗡but as time goes on, she starts to be less subtle. well, at least she thinks she's being subtle. to you, the way she stares daggers into anyone who even remotely flirted with you was anything but inconspicuous.

🗡it's no surprise that she's incredibly insecure, and this is especially true when you're in a relationship with her. to her, the reason she's so possessive is because you're the only person in her life who truly sees her. no one else has cared about her like you, and the thought of someone else stealing you from her is absolutely mortifying.

🗡there have been many instances in which she breaks down to you about her insecurities, and you understand it. in your eyes, she's the most gorgeous girl you've ever seen, and you experience your fair share of jealousy. you run your hands through her hair, something incredibly vulnerable for her that she's allowed you to do, and assure her that you wouldn't want anyone else.

🗡you're more than content to live with rhiannon's possessiveness, even if it means that the men that bother you often end up missing.

Definitely had chem problems as a teenager, they put him into rehab and it sort of worked

Knew Nick Valentine even as a kid. They’re pretty solid friends, but sees Nick as a father figure.

Deep down always respected ghouls, especially pre-war ghouls. To survive one of the most horrific events in history, loose all your skin (or hair), still live but be in immense pain. Live with the knowledge that all your loved ones are dead, all the pre-war comforts gone with them. Then to be hunted and persecuted by a few groups just for simply existing. Awful. And did I *mention the long ass life?* His respect for them only skyrocketed after the anti-ghoul law was implemented.

Has an intense fascination and interest in pre-war artifacts and culture, but, doesn’t care about history, being drawn to John Hancock was just a random fluke. He often hangs around pre-war ghouls in hopes they’d tell him a story or two.

He’s always been incredibly rowdy, and the parties he’d throw in diamond city? Absolutely insane and wild. They even got wilder once he became Mayor of Goodneighbor. 

Genuinely did not care for history sober, but on mentats? oh boy…. He took some mentats before he took that radiation chem hence his John Hancock persona. 

Here’s a particular headcanon about the drug he took: it was produced by West-tek was trialled as a chemo drug, however, it was actually a drug to learn more about ghoulification. As we already know, there were two instances of people going ghoul pre-war, and I’d assume that there were many more (notably the nuclear summer of New York, the nuking of the Middle East and even as far back as Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If i’ve made a mistake or forgot to mention any particular pieces of lore let me know) People definitely knew about ghoulification, or- the government and corporations, but they managed to keep it hush hush and convinced people that they were rumours. Anyway, this drug was trialled on stage 4 and 5 cancer patients to see if ghoulification could reverse cancer or pre-existing illness.

“You look awful-” 

The words slip from Atsushi’s mouth before he can stop them, the world coming to a standstill as Fukuzawa gives him that familiar deadpan expression. 

“N-not how I meant it to come out….” Atsushi squeaks, shrinking into himself and giving a sheepish smile. “I just meant- you don’t… seem well? Are you sure you should be here today..?” 

“I appreciate the concern,” Fukuzawa states, his voice collected and level, even despite the rasp along the edges of it, “but I am perfectly capable of deciding to come into work at my agency. If I was not in a fit state, rest assured, I would still be at home.” 

Atsushi just nods, slinking back to his desk. Alright, it wasn’t exactly a reprimand, but maybe it’s not his place to question the president. No- no not maybe, it definitely isn’t his place. 

“RRZSHH’uh!” 

The sneeze makes Atusushi jump, Kenji and Tanizaki giggling a bit from their desks behind him. 

“Sorry,” Fukuzawa offers, giving an unreadable glance over to Kenji and Tanizaki (who immediately stop giggling). “I didn’t mean to startle you.” 

“O-oh it’s, it’s totally okay sir, s-sorry for getting startled!” 

There’s a very failed attempt at a contained snort from behind him, and Atsushi debates jumping out the window. He’s a weretiger, his body will heal faster than his pride… 

“No need for that,” Fukuzawa cuts in, pausing Atsushi’s escape plans for the moment, “now, unless there’s anything else you need,” he glares over behind Atsushi, and the muffled giggles stop, “get back to work.” 

“Yes s-”

“RRSHH– RZSHHHH’iuh!” 

“Bless you!” 

Fukuzawa winces, wrist still pressed to his face. Atsushi quickly takes action, grabbing the tissues from the desk and holding them out. Fukuzawa accepts thankfully, and Atsushi turns away to give him a bit of privacy to clean up. 

“That didn’t sound good,” comes a voice from the hall, Atsushi and Fukuzawa turning in unison to see Dazai leaning against a wall. He’s wearing a familiar expression of playful disinterest, but Atsushi doesn’t miss how his eyes scan over the President, clearly evaluating his state. 

“I’m-” Fukuzawa starts, but breaks off into a harsh cough that leaves his lungs rattling slightly as he attempts to maintain composure. While being, Atsushi guesses, about ten seconds from hitting the floor. 

“You know,” Dazai calls again, sliding into the room in something akin to a cat stalking its prey. “A wise man once told me,” 

Atsushi pauses, eyes snapping between the two men engaged in some sort of… standoff? He waits for the words of wisdom, matching breaths sucked in behind him as the whole office seems to be caught in a standstill. 

Fukuzawa meets Dazai’s eye, pulling himself to his full height, coughing subsided for now. He gives a gesture to continue, a single eyebrow raising slowly.

“He said ‘Dazai, you are the best employee we have-”

“I don’t believe that-” 

Dazai holds up a hand, giving a dramatic tilt of his head, “Please, let me tell it as I remember, it was… the most heartfelt thing I’ve ever been told.” A single tear rolls down his face, and Atsushi has to manually close his jaw, risking a peek to find Kenji beaming behind him, eyes full of wonder locked on Dazai. 

Fukuzawa groans slightly, but nods again, rolling his eyes almost imperceptively. He muffles another harsh “RZSHHMPFH– RRSHhh’uh!-” into his sleeve, grimacing slightly as he reaches with his free arm for another handful of tissues. 

“Thank you, thank you. Now, as I was saying,” Dazai continues, stepping forward with an exaggerated wave of his hand, “A great man once told me, ‘Dazai, you are the best worker I’ve ever seen, and because of that, I must impart on you this advice, my most trusted and beloved employee’-”

Everyone is on the edge of their seats, except, Atsushi notes, Fukuzawa, who looks as if he’s well aware where this is going, and is resigned to the dramatics of Dazai being how they have to get there. He simply pulls the tissues to his nose, attempting to (poorly) stifle the next “RZSH-NGT’uh!”. Some form of… politeness, Atsushi guesses, despite Dazai’s… theatrics, Fukuzawa’s still trying to allow him room to finish without further interruption. 

“The advice of which was,” Dazai pauses again, this time Atsushi rolls his eyes with a deep sigh. ‘Oh my god,’ he finds himself thinking so loud it’s almost audible, ‘get to the point already…’ 

“‘You’re of no use to anyone else if you can’t even take care of yourself,’” Dazai finally finishes, voice steadily quiet. He turns at that, facing Fukuzawa, and gives a look that’s so raw and unmasked that Atsushi looks away on instinct, cheeks burning as if he’d just witnessed something intimate he shouldn’t have. In a sense, he supposes, he did. 

“And!” Dazai adds, swivelling back around to face the room with his normal grin, “We have unlimited sick days!” 

“That’s not tr-” Fukuzawa starts, voice cutting off into a gasp as he turns back to his, now utterly ruined, handful of tissues for another throat-scraping, “RRZSHHh’uh!” 

“He didn’t deny it!” Dazai calls out in a sing-song voice, casting a wink towards Atsushi, who gives a terrified smile, and suddenly finds the floor incredibly interesting. 

He only breaks that stance when Fukuzawa starts coughing again, Atsushi moving into range to whisper, “Hey, he’s not wrong, you know. I- I know it’s not my place but- if you don’t take care of yourself, th-then…” 

“No,” Fukuzawa starts, then softens his tone and gives Atsushi a measured, yet gentle, look. “I know. You’re both right. I shouldn’t have… I should have listened to you earlier, I’m. I am sorry.” 

“Hey,” Atsushi starts, smiling, “no worries about that! All I care about is you getting better.” “rRZSSHH’uh! RRT’SZHH–oo! guhh…” 

“Now uh- h-how about I help walk you out..?”  Fukuzawa gives a tight nod, leaning a bit of his weight against the arm Atsushi holds out.

“And-” Atsushi continues, “I’ll tell Kunikida to handle the office until you get back, between him and Ranpo, this place will run just fine without you!”

There’s a brief pause, panic beginning to overflow as Atsushi’s eyes widen, realizing what he just said. “W-wait, sorry that’s- that’s not what I meant, we absolutely need you here, I wasn’t trying to-”

“Atsushi.”

“Y-yes sir…?”

Fukuzawa turns to him, a soft smile crossing his stern features. “Thank you.”

Hello, i really like how you write and it feels pretty accurate to the lore (maybe idk i forgot) anyways, i heard fnaf and dbd are collabing in summer 2025 idk if bhvr trolling but it'll be cool if the missing kids become the survivors or killers. I wonder what the killers actually think about kids being in the Entity's realm. And probably William afton or springtrap is just there and just brags how killed the kids and uses them for a bunch of experiments. I wonder how some of the killers react (put any killers that would probably be like 'wtf is this guy saying' and felt pity for the kids, some humanity ig)

tbh i'm on the side of people who think that it'll probably just be a cosmetic collab, personally. i also don't really think bhvr would put actual children in their game, neither as a survivor or killer tbh. if there were an actual chapter to come out of this collab, i would probably guess it would probably be movie related?? so springtrap, mike and vanessa, most likely, but idk i've only been playing the game since december last year so i'm still Very new. though it would be very funny to load into a game and be hunted down by an animatronic of a bear possessed by a child. and sad. very sad.

but. the idea of a child ending up in the fog has always been on my mind so. let's say these kids did get dragged into the fog. dare i say... killers and survivors join forces and boycott the entity. i don't think any of these guys would be chill with kids just... hangin around a place like this.

god, and imagine anna finding out that william killed them bro.... it's on sight. old british guy will not escape unscathed, i fear.

maybe it's because i'm against child murder, personally, but i don't think any of the killers would be chill with afton. obviously, i don't think the non-human killers such as singularity, unknown, nemesis, etc etc would necessarily care much, but if william actively goes around and brags about how he took away their lives and whatnot, then yeah. my dude is gonna have no friends in the fog.

and i think it's safe to say that not a single survivor would be chill with william afton at all. not even because he's a killer meant to torment them endlessly, it's literally the child murder that they all hate. if they could, i think they'd all gang up on him. but alas.

also i hate to say this but one time i read a fic where a kid did end up in the realm and the entity adopted her so now i just have this image in my head of the entity having a 'realm's no.1 mother' mug and showing off her kid to the killers and survivors with pride.

so if the kids did end up in the fog, i just picture the entity adopting them, i fear.

this does make me wonder what william's ability and perks would be if he were put in the game, tbh.

but thank you for the kind words!! i'm still fairly new to the game, w only like... roughly 700 hours i think, but i really love it and the characters and i can talk about it for. a hot second, obviously. i'm committing character lore into memory, and i try to have that reflect in my writing as best as i can so!!

i completely forgot to reply im so sorry anon ;;;; i use a modified version of the "shale brush" in the default calligraphy section, basically just removed the grain and added some extra parameters - hope this helps! im extremely bad at explaining but if anyonr needs more info i am very happy to aswer more......
