Hanahaki disease and Star tears head canons Part 2 of 3
Hanahaki Disease: An illness born from one sided love, where the victim's throat will fill up with flowers. They will then begin to throw up, or cough up the petals. In serious cases the flowers themselves. There are only two ways to get rid of the said disease. If the person the victim loves loves them back (strong friendship isn't adequate enough) or through surgery. If neither work the victim will suffocate on the flowers resulting in death.
Star Tears: The Sparkly star-like tears, accompanied with twlinking sounds. It's a disease that is caused by unrequited love. The only cure for these glimmering tears is for the love to be returned; however, if they are not then the light from the shining stars will blind the victim.
Flowers mentioned:
Tulip: Love and, Confidence
Sunflower: Adoration, Loyalty
Hydrangea: Emotion, Understanding
Rose: love
Lychnis
~Tristan Taylor Star Tears:
If Tristain had the disease:
When Tristan first met Serenity the boy thought he was a goner. Well that was until he met her best friend (y/n).
He loved the way you shined brighter than the sun, when your eyes sparkled with excitement of your favorite subject. (And when you tell off Duke when you felt he was overstepping his boundaries).
The major problem was your eyes were already on someone. Anyone with eyes (Expect the poor boy in question) could see how infatuated you were with him. You were always around him, spoke about him often, and you were always there when Yami Bakura got out of hand.
It hurt Tristain to the point when he got home he cried at how hopeless he was, but that was when his troubles truly occurred. When he cried the sparkly bright tears fell down his face. He was shocked to say the least he didn't understand why such bright tears fell down his face. So he didn't waste time going to the doctors.
When he got there the nurse took notice and ushered him to the back slightly shaken up by his state. When she seated him in a room she rushed to the doctor, and explained the circumstances.
When the doctor came in and he saw the young man trying to wipe away the tears in vain he knew exactly what was going on.
“It's a rare but painful disease Mr. Taylor.” The doctor explained to him the disease and the effects it would have on his health.
Tristan didn't want to ruin your friendship but he also didn't want to go blind, so he decided then to take a risk. He texted you and asked you to meet him at the park closest to his house.
When you got there the sun was nearly set, and the stars glowinging from Tristan's face were glowing brighter than ever. When you asked him what happened he didn't bother to look at you as he explained the disease to you.
“I know this is sudden (y/n) but i like you….as in more than a friend.” you gasped at the sudden confession, but that surprise suddenly turned to sorrow “Im sorry tristan….” The tears fell harder from his eyes but he shook his head and left without another word.
When the brunette lost his eyesight everyone worried for his well being but he played it off as if it didn't bother him, but in reality it pained him that he wasn't able to see your pretty face any longer.
If you had the disease:
You had been serenity’s best friend since you met her in elementary, you did everything with her so when she got her eye surgery you were there with her. That was the day you met her infamous big brother Joey, and his friends. More specifically Tristan.
You weren't sure what it was but something about him drew you to him, But you saw the way he looked serenity, and when Duke came into the picture you were certain that Tristan was in love with her.
So you decided to distance yourself from the man in hopes to drive these feelings away. However fate had something in store for you.
As you were talking with the group of friends at Mr. Muto’s gameshop you noticed how Tristan was obviously flirting with the girl as she giggled away at her pick up lines. It hurt your heart to see such a display that you could feel the tears prick at your eyes. You excused yourself from the group and ran to the bathroom. As you cried you noticed the blinding stars in your tears.
You stayed in the bathroom for what feels like forever till Mai knocked on the door. “(y/n)? Dear, are you okay?” you didn't have time to respond till she came in and saw the mess you were on the ground.
She was at your side instantly wiping away the tears and stars. “Star tears huh?” you look at her questioningly. She sighs and tells you everything she knows of the said disease. “It's not a pretty disease as it seems.”
Hearing her made you cry harder as she held you tightly. She escorted you home without the others seeing you, and told you to keep in mind her words.
In the end you were against telling tristan your feelings so instead you stayed by ai side as you slowly lose your sight. When you fully lost it Mai was there for you every step of the way, and made sure you avoided Tristan and everyone’s questions.
~Tea Gardner/Anzu Mazaki Hanahaki Disease:
If she had the disease:
You were introduced to the group by Duke Devlin (well it was more you were there when he faced Yugi and you were silently on the sidelines watching) Maybe it was the quiet cool stance, or the way your sharp eyes studied the duel between the two. Whatever it was she was extremely interested in you. So when you walked over to the group and introduced yourself to them she was smitten.
You began to hang with the group more and everything you did just made her heart flutter, the dazzling smile, the way you were always there for them, and so much more. Her heart just couldn't take, and neither could her lungs.
Slowly the flowers began to take over her lungs Roses, Tulips, Sunflowers, and Lychins fell from her lips as she coughed.
Due to this her work wouldn't allow her to go back until she got it fixed, so she had no choice but to go to the doctors. Unable to go on her own Mai took her to the doctors and sat with her until the end of the exam.
“Well It seems you have a very rare and deadly disease called hanahaki.” Mai probed the doctor for answers as Tea stared into nothing. Deadly one sided love? Surgery? This was all so much for her to handle.
At the end of the appointment Mai took her home “Look tea…. I know it isn't easy but if there's a chance that you don't have to go through surgery you should take it.” Tea nodded still lost in thought as she walked to her house.
It took her some time to gain her thoughts, but when she did she took Mai’s words to heart. So she texts you text to meet her by the pond garden at the park.
When you met her at the park and saw her coughing up the flowers you rushed to her side and comforted her the best you could.
“I'm sorry....” she coughed as you shook your head and patted her back. “But there is something I have to tell you (y/n).... I like you a lot.” The silence was too long for her to handle. She tried to stand up to leave out of embarrassment. Ut before she could leave you pull her in for a hug.
“I like you too.”
If you got disease:
You were there when Duke challenged Yugi to dungeon dice monsters, you knew it was cruel to challenge him to a game he has never played, but you were there anyways to watch. A girl around your age was on Yugi’s side cheering him on. She reminded you of one of your fairy cards. She is beautiful, yet dangerously determined.
After the match between the two you introduced yourself to the gang (While apologizing on duke’s behalf). When she started talking to you you knew you were a goner. She was an angel in disguise, and you wanted her for your own.
It took you days, maybe even weeks to come up with a plan, and right when you were about to ask her you began coughing. The coughing was so excessive that the teacher had to send you to the nurse. On your way there was when the flowers started to tumble down which made you rush a little quicker to the nurse.
When you got there the teacher saw your condition and ushered you to lay down. She put a bucket to the side of your bed as she examined the rest of you.
“You have what the professionals call hanahaki.” she told you the disease and all the effects of it. “I cant send you back to class now so wait till the end of the day so you can head home immediately.” you nodded and rested the best you could.
As you were getting ready to leave at the end of the day Tea came through the door “I came to check on you since you haven't been in class. Is everything okay?”
Knowing you had no other choice you told her how you felt and that if she didn't feel the same you understood.
Hearing you sudden confession tea let out a soft giggle as she hugged you “I feel the same way (y/n)
~Duke Devlin/Ryuji Otogi Star tears Disease
If he had the disease:
Duke liked to think of himself as a smooth talker, his silver tongue got many people in his fan club. However there was one thing his smooth talking couldn't get him, you.
From the moment he met you he tried everything in his book to get your attention. Compliments, sweet talking, v.i.p access to his gameshop, EVERYTHING. Yet still your eyes always linger on Kiba.
He didn't understand what you saw in a jerk like him,but you saw something and he simply couldn't compare, and it hurt him deeply. It hurt him so much that anytime he saw you and Seto interacting he could stop the tear that would spring to his eyes.
The tears got worse over time to the point where the stars started to appear and it was hard for him to keep his eyes open.
As much as he tried to wipe them away they just came one after the other. It was one of his employees who had told him about the disease, and what caused it.
There wasnt anything he could do, you didnt want him you wanted that stupid Seto! And there wasn't any cure for the tears. He didn't want to go blind, but what other choice did he have?
Instead of staying away from the others he spent the rest of his days seeing with you. If he was going blind he wanted the last thing to be beautiful.
When Dukes about his last moments before he became blind he talks about the angel who stole his heart.
If you had the disease:
Curse this man with his beautiful looks, and silver tongue! He had utterly infatuated since the moment you laid eyes on him.
The more you hung out with him the more of him you wanted to see. So that's exactly what you did or at least tried to do.
You would purposely visit his shop just to be around him. He even welcomed you with open arms talking with you every time you walked through the door.
This of course did not help your yearning heart or the star that fell down your face.
You knew Duke had a fanbase so he didn't have time with relationships, so you were content with watching from the sidelines. However you couldn't do so if you went blind.
You knew of this disease from the start, you witnessed your aunt going through the same thing when you were young so this alone terrified you, but you didn't want to be a burden to the said boy.
So you continued to stay by his side even when you became blind listening as he rose to success, and eventually left you behind.
~Seto Kaiba hanahaki disease:
If he had the disease:
Seto never had time for relationships. With his little brother, running a company, trying to beat Yugi, and not really caring he had no time at all. Or so he originally thought.
You have known the brothers since they were first adopted, your father being an investor in Kaiba corp gained you access to play with the said boys. Most of your days were spent with Mokuba, but there were the rare times you got to play with Seto and those were the days you both cherished deeply.
However, somewhere along the way Seto felt more than friendship towards you, and it was more the family because the way he felt about mokuba was different then what he thought of you.
He never realized what the feeling was until flowers began to appear. It was a small cough at first, but eventually they began to escalate. Worried Mokuba called in the best doctors Kaiba Corp had.
He learned that the feeling he had for you was love, and he also felt like you didn't share the same feelings for him.
So instead of beating around the bush he went straight to you. He surprised you when he just walked into your house a determined glare resting on his features. “(y/n)..i want to take you out somewhere. No mokuba, just me and you.” It didn't take you long to realize what he wanted so you smiled at him and agreed to the said date.
Seto Kaiba maybe a man with little time, but he is willing to make time for you.
~If you got the disease:
You have grown up around the Kaiba brothers, and cherished every moment with them, but you had particular fondness for the eldest.
Though the man can be seen as cold and cruel around you and Mokuba he showed a softer side that not many got to witness. This kindness is what you fall for him.
You knew the young CEO didn't have time for petty things like relationships so instead you were content with seeing all his dreams come to life from the sidelines.
Fate however, had different plans for you. The flowers began to grow in your lungs. Roses, Tulips, and Hydrangeas. The pain that jolted through your body with each cough was almost enough to distract you from heartache...almost.
Feeling yourself grow weaker with everyday you finally went to the doctors hoping there was a way for it to end.
Because of your stubborn ways your body was too weak to do surgery on to remove the flowers. your only hope for survival was to tell Seto how you felt, and he returned your feelings.
You were admitted to the hospital due to the doctors request, and once Seto heard of the news he rushed to the hospital you were staying at
“What is the meaning of this (y/n)?!”
When walked in you gave him a weak smile as you explained the disease, without thinking about it you even told him the cause of it. When it came out of your mouth you knew you messed up.
You tried to back track, but Seto had other plans as he pulled you closer to him, one his hand on you head the other on the small of your back successfully trapping you.
“Then don't worry about those flowers anymore, with me at your side nothing will harm you again.”
~Requests are open~

Lance Vs Shiro: Same ending??
Or what I like to call: Why you should be more mad about Lance’s ending than Shiro’s ending in the clusterfuck called “Voltron’s horrible writing”.
Shiro and Lance had very similar endings in the last episode of Voltron, to put it in simple words: They decided to live a quiet life after the war.
This is kinda long, so i will add everything under the cut, i just want to say sorry for any gammar mistakes beforehand.
How, Lance decided to live in a farm with his family and “Surround himself with The Things He Loves”. Meanwhile Shiro got last-minute married with a dude and “Found his happiness and left the War Efforts Behind”. There’s been a LOT of negative reactions from the fans though, because these endings seemed lazy, out of character, etc. But there’s always a big difference in the spectrum:
People who are upset over Shiro marrying a “nobody” who talked like 2 times, and after Shiro being so happy being the captain and leader of the ATLAS, was being pushed aside to live a quiet life, dont care about Lance’s ending.
People who are upset about Lance’s lackluster ending of working on a farm after being clear about his liking of adventure, giving him a clearly racist ending, and never forgetting or moving on from Allura, don’t mind Shiro’s.
Though they DO think the other’s ending wasnt executed nicely, they don’t think the ending itself is bad per se.
And i know it’s been almost a month since VLD finished, but i found myself wondering why is that i am madder about Lance’s ending tha Shiro’s. So let’s break it down point to point and compare them.
Execution:
When we get to the time-skip, before the explanations of what happenned in the rest of their lifes, we see:
Shiro working as an embassador between planets, still a captain of the ATLAS, traveling through the universe to try and unify planets alongside Hunk who uses his food to help leaders see eye-to-eye.
Lance talking to some kids, telling them about Allura’s sacrifice, and telling them he now works and lives helping out on a farm.
Wich, together with their end cards, gives us the conclutions that:
After their last fight with honerva, Shiro was still Captain of the ATLAS for a few years, he married and decided to retire. We do not know if he married BEFORE or AFTER retiring though. Also, we do not know if he kept working or not after his retirement, since it was only said that he left the “War efforts behind and found happiness”. You can see a lot of things happened during his life as he moved on though.
Even if we, as audience didn’t see it, Shiro spent a few years dating his husband before marrying him, and event though it was pulled out of nowhere as a band-aid, it didn’t felt rushed since it was something that happenned years down the line and out-of-camera. So we are left without any kind of opinion about his relationship with his husband. This also means he spent more time as a captain of the ATLAS than some people seem to believe.
After their last fight, Lance retired from being a paladin and started working on his family’s farm, who suddenly have a family farm, before the war was even completely gone. And then he...kept working on his farm and sometimes talked to little kids about Allura.... thats about it.
It is not said if he “found love” or “happiness” or did anything else than farm and plant junniberries.
Their struggles before retirement:
Now, In this one we need to take a minute to compare these two characters during the show.
There are two things people say when discussing about their endings: “He loved adventure, it was his dream to pilot!! why the heck would he retire!!!!” and the more understanding “Well, he went through a LOT during the war, maybe he had enough and wants to take it easy from now on!".
Let’s start with the “They want adventure!” point:
Starting off with Shiro, they say: “He left his fiance because he wanted to be in space that bad! he didnt care if he died!” But i think people misunderstand some things about Shiro in this regard, principally: he was fucking dying.
Shiro had an illness that would leave him unable to move his body before it killed him.
He wanted to prove himself, and go to space, before his body stopped working.
He wanted to leave his mark on history, before he was bound to be stuck on a wheelchair unable to even go to the bathroom, cook or dress himself, so he had something left behind.
So i think people are misplacing his “wanting adventure”, it was more of a cry to wanting to do something with his life before being a vegetable. He was scared of getting nothing done and live his life never doing anything that amounted to anything. Afterwards this problem was solved, wich is not to say he wasn’t happy being apointed being the new captain of the ATLAS and traveling the universe. He WAS. He is a responsible leader and he deserved that position, but he never gave up being a captain after the fight with honerva, again, he was the captain for a few years before retiring when he chose to.
Now, going to Lance’s side, now this kid DID love adventure, breaking the rules, attention, etc. During the series you could see:
Him sneaking out of the Garrison and breaking rules.
Getting inside of alien ships and proceeding to pilot them before the others could finish reacting to seeing an alien ship for the first time.
whooping and hollering while flying in battle.
Actually looking very happy to help others and not backing down at the oportunity to do so.
and that was... like, in the first 3 episodes.
Now to the “They went through a LOT, they want a quiet life now!
Ok, bear with me and let me just run a thing through you all first.
Shiro is in his late 20′s, probably already 30, an adult and was Captain of the ATLAS for a few years before retiring.
Lance is fucking 18, maybe 19, he’s still a fucking embryo, and probably still has a lot of things to figure out about himself, but still decided to run a farm the instant they defeated Honerva i guess.
Now, during the war Shiro:
Was taken against his will and made a slave in space, was made to fight in the arena for entertanment and fought monsters and probably other aliens, probably even had to kill during this time.
Lost his arm and was experimented upon.
Crashed into earth and lost his memories.
Became the leader of a rag-tag tem of teens in space that was the only hope for the universe.
Suffered of PTSD during all of this.
Almost died a lot of times.
Died.
Became a clone.
This clone proceeded to: Betray his friends, help and spy for Honerva, almost killed Keith, who’s the closest person to him at the time.
Lost his arm again.
Almost got killed by Keith too.
He got his consiousness trasspassed from the Black Lion into the body of his clone, wich, almost rejected him and made him die. Again.
Found out his ex-fiance died and earth was almost anihilated.
We never knew anything about his family, but im sure they died since they never appeared???
etc.
Now, with Lance:
He almost died once, and the fandom is pretty sure he died one time after that but since Allura’s powers are weird we are not even sure what the hell happened there.
He felt doubtful about his position on the team.
He missed his family a lot
The girl he liked didnt like him back...?
His girlfriend of a month and a half sacrificed herseld and died.
uhhh... yeah.
And, like, no. I dont mean to say Lance is a cry-baby because he didnt go through as many things as shiro, or the others. The problem with this, is that it makes no sense because fucking lance never had an arc. The writers never cared about giving him some usefulness, or something that made him shine through, and when he was left at the end, they had nothing for him to do. So they gave him a farm.
But like, even after all the bullshit shiro went through, he moved on with his life, he found happiness and love, was still the captain of the ATLAS for some time before retiring, etc.
But Lance, someone who was so cheerful and up to help other people, who didnt left anything bring him down, just... decided to work on a farm for the rest of his life. Not moving on or anything, wich... yeah, it’s weird.
Keith, who almost died in space 971283678 times, found out he was Fucking Galra, was left alone by his parents, found his mother, was stuck in a space whale’s back for 2 years, was stuck on a leadership position he didnt want?? after uniting the Galra and helping put an end to the war he made a Humanitary Relief Organization, to help people with low resources in the universe.
Pidge? She lost her brother and father, ran away from home, got stuck on a war at fucking 15, had to learn how to fight and pilor, since, you know, she wasnt even a pilot in the first place. Almost lost her father to Zarkon, and believed for some time her Brother was dead. Bue she founded a Space Defenders organization to fight for justice in fucking space, and kept inventing tech to keep helping the universe and fight for the weak.
Hunk? He was a coward, he didnt even wanted to sneak out the garrison, much less get stuck on a space war! He didn’t want to fight, he didn’t want to die. His family was even captured on earth, unlike Lance’s. But he learned to be brave, and fought for people’s freedom. He became a diplomat, and learned how to hone his cooking skills to bring people together, so he became a Culinary Embassador to keep the peace in the universe.
They all are doing something with their lifes to help heal the universe after the war. Even after all they went through together. Even shiro helped for a few years before retiring, exept Lance. Who’s a farmer for some reason.
And i’m not saying that fighting on a War isn’t traumatizing enough, I’m just saying that if someone deserves to find love, retire, and live in the fucking bahamas on eternal vacation for the rest of his life, is Shiro. poor guy needed a break a long time ago.
WICH brings me to the last point of this really long essay:
It’s Implications:
It is sad that the only reason we got a wedding with shiro was like a bandaid from the lash-back they had from Adam’s death and the constant Bury Your Gays trope. But let me tell you something: it wasn’t badly done. Yeah, I woul’ve liked to see more of Curtis to get to know him, or maybe see Shiro and Him having some kind of interaction before being slapped with a wedding a few years down the line, but that was it. The point of it (appart from rebuilding the bridge with the LGBT+ comunity) was to make it clear that Shiro found love and happiness in his life, wich im happy he did, and this does not contradict anything his character is about:
It makes it clear that it doesnt matter how dark things are right now, it will pass and you will be happy someday, you can still make your dreams come true, you have to fight for it.
It doesnt matter if you lost your arm, got a horrible scar across your face, got white hair, etc. You can find love, you can still lead a happy life.
Now with Lance is way more jarring. He has this “good boy” storyline with his girlfriend, wich sucks since he could’ve been made into an “anyone can be a hero, it doesnt matter if you’re not specially good at anything!” but alas they missed that mark. He really didn’t had any storyline for himself perse, he became The Boyfriend and stayed that way.
He went from “Ohh, I dont feel like i have a place in the team since everyone is awesome and has abilities and I dont” one season to “The girl I like doesn’t like me back!” on the next.
In the last season we got this “The girl I like is finally dating me!” to “oh no, the girl I loved died after dating me for a month”
Then proceeded to “Let me go work in a farm and plant her favorite flowers on it, while I never stop loving her and never move on and keep telling everyone about her sacrifice forever and ever! War who?? My girlfriend sacrificed herself for peace but let me just ignore the war exists still!”
Wich is... sad. They literally never gave anything to Lance to apport to the team or the universe apart from being there for Keith and Allura when they needed cheering up. And even if he himself says “oh im happy, i have a quiet life and that’s how i like it now!” when you think about his ending, you dont feel that way. He literally has nothing, exept his family and flowers.
So yeah, i dont mind Shiro’s ending. It was one of the last things wrong with the ending of the show, even if it was made for the wrong reasons. And i do believe, people should stop hating on it only because they wanted him to happy his little brother whom is almost 10 years younger than him
And yeah, I do think Lance’s ending was racist. I myself am latina, even have a grandfather who owns a farm. Would i go work in his farm for the rest of my life after losing someone i loved? Fuck no. I do not know shit about farms, or farming. He isnt even shown to be specially good with animals, no more than the rest of the gang. And sincerely, that he cut’s himself from the universe and his friends anddoesnt even do anything to help or reconstructing the universe only sounds like depression to me.
But alright then, to each their own in what they want to believe.
#lance#shiro#voltron season 8#vld spoilers#klance#because i know the klance fandom feels this#I JUST HAD TO GET THIS OUT OF MY CHEST OK BYE

Jesus Christ, y'all love making Ryder Cry. ——— Jaal: He walks in on Ryder crying on accident. He didnt mean to, he original went down to their room to give them a gift he had been working on (from that time he wanted to give gifts to the entire team) when he heard them sobbing. His gift was forgotten and he rushed to thier side, finally realizing that they broke. He feels sad, learning about every thing Ryder has been though, and does his best to comfort his friend in any way they need.
ROMANCED: Jaal had realized that his darling one had always came to visit him, and not the other way around. He intended to change that. But when he heard them crying, his cheerful mood dropped. He ran to them, holing them close and rocking as he soothed them. After a bone crushing hug, and several comforting rubs and kisses, they finally told him what was wrong, his heart broke for them all over. They was so strong and brave, yet hurt, and Jaal did every in his power to sooth them
Liam: Laim wanted to find Ryder about a soccer game. It worked out so well the first time. It was fun. But when he found them curled into a little ball in the corner of the room, shaking, that plan went down the drain. He carefully approaches them, but when he heard thier soft crying, Liam both relaxes a little yet tenses up at the same time. He cautiously places a hand on their back, and if they dont flench away, he awkwardly sits on the bed with them until thier ready to talk. He’s doing his best, okay?
ROMANCED: Crying. Liam woke up to crying and an empty space. He shot up to find Ryder on the foot of the couch, weeping to herself. He calls out her name softly, and the crying slows down a little as she apologized for waking him up, wiping away her still falling tears. “It’s okay,” he says pulling her upclose to him “Let it out. You’ve been through so much. And Im so sorry.”
Cora: She had come to Ryder’s room to drop off some datapads they might find interesting as pathfinder, but she stopped In her trackes when she heard Ryder crying. Guns, she could handle. Bombs, she could handle. But tears, not so much. She slowly inches forward, and says their name, casuing her so take in their red puffy eyes and wet cheeks. They try to play it off like they weren’t crying, and she more or less let them have it. But she still asked what was wrong, and couldnt help but feel alittle guilty. Some of this was her fault.
ROMANCED: In all her time with him, Cora never thought she’d see Scott crying. He was the pathfinder. Strong, and brave, amd industractable. But as Scott played off his tears in the bathroom, she also realized that pathfinder was also just a title. And the man wearing it was, well, actually a man. And she couldnt help but feel guilty. She pressed him so hard, constantly prefers Alec in the back of her mind. It’s her Job to keep him alive, now she’s taking on keeping him happy.
PB: She had found some untouched remnant Tech, but Kallo wouldn’t go off course with out Ryder’s say so. After hours of attempted persuasions(bribing) and Kallo still said no, she sucked it up and headed to Ryder’s room, coming up with the best scenario to throw this in her favour, but she was not expecting them to be curled up un a ball. Liam was awkward, but PB is just a straight up mess. She shifts on the balls of her feet, debating on if she should go in or not. Ryder makes the decision for her. “I know you’re there, PB.” They said sitting up. “Come in. What do you need?” She shuffled awkwardly to the bed, rubbing the back of her head. “Hey, so I found this remnant Tech and Kallo wont go-and im sorry. But i cant take you seriously with snot coming out of your nose. ”
ROMANCED: Gravity. She had finally managed to tamper with POC to create an antigravity field. That way all the Zero Gav fun they have in her room can make it to Ryders room. She stormed in, POC trailing behind her, but Ryder crying was not something she was expecting. PB remaines awkward, debating on if she should go in or not,but intead of waiting for them to acknowledge her, she turned on POC’s new anti gravity function, and did her best to push herself over to Ryder, grining as she did.
She later found out that the Anti gravity feild effected the entire ship when Drack made a snark remark about how Krogans dont fly. Alot of people were angry that day.
Vetra: She needed weapons parts for upgrades, but didnt have them on hand. She had went to Ryder’s cabin to get the go ahead for Kallo to land in Kadara port, but slowed when she heard the faint sound of crying. At first, the “Awkward Turian” poked its head, but Vetra pushes it back it back and instead went into “Big Sister Mode.” She marched in with no hesitations and comforted Ryder in any way she could.
ROMANCED: She did it, she thinks. She managed to wrangle the staff out of the kitchen long enough to attempt to cook again. No more steaks, like she promised, but something simple like an egg sandwich. It came out mostly edible (she hopes), and she was excited to show Ryder. But when she hears crying, she decides that soothing him is more important than giving him food poisoning.
Gil: Drinks. He made the miatake of playing drunk poker with Ryder, knowing that Ryder sucks at it. Every time you lost, you had to take a shot. He thought it would be funny, but instead its just sad. He sighs and places hia cards face down, patting Ryders back with one hand. He brought this on himself.
ROMANCED: If romanced, Gil is a tad more sensitive to Ryder’s tears. Except this time, the were playing drunk STRIP poker. He was now cradling a drunk, half naked Scott in his arms as he weepes into his chest. Gil didnt mind, but god be damned if we wasn’t getting laid after this.
Suvi: She’s pretty sure she told Ryder not to inhale. She specifically said that. Or maybe she said it in her head when Ryder entered her lab. Either way, it doesnt matter, because Ryder was now balling like a baby on the floor after inhaling a pheromone Suvi created responding to the emotional state. Did she think Helius rocks had feelings? Doesn’t matter, because Ryder did. Suvi crept out of the lab to go and get their LI (If she wasnt it) or best friend. As well as Lexi, just in case she’s done something really terrible to them. She makes them all wear masks, just in case.
Lexi: She feels like shes intruding in her own medbay. She walked in to Ryder holding their siblings hand pouring out their heart as the tears flowed. They talked about how hard it is, and how they need and love them. Lexi backed out and let Ryder have their moment, tears pricking at her eyes out of sympathy. Her work would have to wait. When Ryder does finnaly leave, they find Lexi waiting near the door respectfully. She just pats them on their shoulder and returns to work.
Drack: Ah hell. What did he just walk into. All wanted was a drink. Findig Ryder nursing whiskey and crying in the kitchen was not apart of his plan, but he doesnt mind. Drack is actually the most comforting Krogan Grandpa ever. He rembers his days with Kesh, when she was young and tearful. Of course when confronted about it later on by a now sober Ryder,he denides it up and down. Krogans dont act like mother hens.
Kallo:He feels awkward, and he didnt even see it. He heard about Suvi’s pheromone mishap, and couldn’t help but to cringe. Thank the stars he dosent really leave the cockpit.
Reyes: Like Gil, he made the mistake of getting Ryder drunk. Filling up their cup when they arent looking. He thought it would be hilarious, not uncomfortably sad. He sat their awkwardly patting their arm as they leaned all over him, sobbing out their woes. All while we was downing his drinks in rapid speeds, hoping that he can get drunk enough to forget this. If romanced he cradles them, while still trying to drink this away, but he still cant help but to respect Ryder even more after learning everything they’ve been through.
Poor Umi. She’s so pissed as she serves, super close to cutting the two off. She cant decide who she wants to stab more. (JK,its Reyes. Its always Reyes. This is his fault anyway)

first first!! im sorry this is long , i had a lot to say !
okay so okay so!! this man? this man is. SOMEWHAT like a hippie. the look is there! hes got a hippie look! but the peace + love? not so much!!
he enjoys fighting! its an adrenaline rush for him! he doesnt like guns so he sticks with melee weapons and occasionally unarmed despite being skinny with very little muscles. and he primarily does morally good when it suits his interests. but i mean theres some exceptions! he has standards! his own moral compass kinda! like he loves animals. he’s convinced the only good member of the ncr is snuggles + he healed her leg bcus he didnt wanna see her in pain. he’ll avoid fighting animals and only do it if he has to. he also does really like and appreciate the positivity + genuine kindness of o'hanrahan, so hes cool in his book too. but will he exploit or suppress that genuine kindness in favor of less-than-positive alternatives that’ll get him and every other member of camp golf messed up in the end? of course! and will he also feel terrible about it? absolutely!
and a major reason he does all these good things despite being like. kinda terrible. is to keep up his reputation with other factions! like the ncr in particular! so when he does eventually screw them over they dont see it coming! and also he gets caps + the ability to not immediately get shot/stabbed/blown up/etc when they see him. theres a few factions he doesnt care enough about to do that though. powder gangers? gun runners? van graffs? he does not care. they dont really have any use for him and also he likes the members of goodsprings so no thank you powder gangers. but it also stems from his inability to be disliked. like if hes doing evil things like he gets that they hate him and yeah the ncr will end up hating him yeah but does he like to think about it! no! it makes him very upset! but will he put on a front to make it seem like “haha idk die mad about it” to make it seem like he doesnt care? yes!
he also has a LOT of anxiety and paranoia. does this stem from him doing everything behind peoples back and getting scared theyll eventually figure it out before he’s ready to get them? does this stem from his need to be liked? does this stem from a childhood trauma? does this stem from subconscious guilt? does this stem from just being in the wasteland itself? does anyone know? if someone does, it isnt him!! but he’s a fan of scotch so he doesn’t have to think about any of it. he still does, of course, to which he either starts arguments with someone in the immediate vicinity or cries about it but not to anyone in particular even when hes around people cause he refuses to tell anyone anything aside from their current perceptions of him even when hes intoxicated. or other times he’ll just get drunk and pass out so he isnt ABLE to think about it. he mostly stays away from chems though. Drugs Are Bad folks!
hes also allied with the legion, but only because he really doesnt like the other alternatives. he does NOT like the ncr since he feels like its a discount u.s. govt and he hates that. he doesn’t trust house to do a good job irt actually helping people since he’s a billionaire and when have billionaires helped out people who aren’t paying him? and he feels the need for SOME kind of government that isn’t run by him because he doesn’t trust himself to do a good job so no yes man. so like. the roman cosplayers it is. he doesnt completely agree with the ideology all that much and tbh he doesn’t really even like caesar all that much. its more like he just wants whats best and, given the options and when putting everything into perspective in the mojave, he thinks the legion can do that the best, RELATIVELY SPEAKING. he isn’t completely loyal to them, either, if that makes sense? he’s not a “legion or die” individual, they just align with his goals.
-
He does sound interesting and like a complex character! And like the poor dude could use someone to help figure out some problems that ain’t a bottle of alcohol. Quite the bit of a wild card he is!
I’d be curious to hear just how he goes about having the Legion run the Mojave, especially since he’s not a player for any of the sides really. Almost seems like potential to size from the inside if he had felt he had the trust in himself to lead.

Legal Mavericks is a 2017 Hong Kong drama which aired on TVB Jade and iQiyi earlier this summer. As this is from Hong Kong, the language is not Mandarin, but Cantonese. The drama follows a blind lawyer who loves to take on cases that involve the disabled to see they get justice. By his side is a clerk whose father is a former mafia and a down on his luck private eye. In a way, this really is a Daredevil-like plot.
We open with a montage of voices. A man leaving a message asking what someone is waiting for. If they don’t go out and get it then it will be too late. A woman’s voice then comes on. Once someone lay in wake complaining of pain. She knew they did not want words of comfort. She will always be there for that person. Another female’s voice comes on. Their meetings were full of confrontation, but through that she came to care. She is now leaving and won’t come back. Does he have anything to say?
I dare not start as I am afraid of building the relationship. I am afraid of building the relationship because I fear that it would end. I’m sorry.
It is a rainy day and a man in a smart suit wearing sunglasses is out walking. He dodges splashes and easily avoids collision by sandwiching himself between two people walking in the opposite direction. While he seems to be easily navigating the woes of the rainy city, a blind man with a cane is having great difficulties. The two men arrive at the same intersection. A bump makes the blind man believe that it is safe to cross and he steps into the intersection. Our dandy in the suit soon follows behind, but manages to jump back just in time to avoid being hit. The man who crossed earlier is stopped by the police and is getting in trouble for crossing the road when the pedestrian light was red. The guy is obviously blind, but the police officers show no concern for this. This has the dandy cross the road and get in trouble, too. The policemen ask why he crossed against the light and he refuses to respond saying he does not think they will listen to him as they are already writing a ticket to a blind man. Fine. He can tell it to the judge. The dandy smiles and says he will do just that.
In the courtroom, the poor blind man begs for mercy this once when the dandy steps up and requests his case be done first. His name is Man Sun-hop [Vincent Wong]. He is scolded for interrupting and for wearing his sunglasses in court, obscuring his face. Man Sun-hop says that removing the glasses means nothing since he is blind and can’t see, but he does remove his shades and reveals his unseeing eyes. He explains the man before him believes Sun-hop’s testimony will help his case and that is why he wants Sun-hop to go first.
We do get to see flashbacks of Sun-hop setting a destination into his phone and putting in an earpiece to listen to its directions. We also get to see what we didn’t before, such as Sun-hop feeling along walls and intently listening to the sounds around him to avoid danger (they show his ears twitching for this). Anyways, he explains that the conditions of the city on a rainy day are not good for the vision impaired. Sun-hop then produces photographs illustrating the points he is making. Normal people won’t possibly understand the difficulties a disabled person has to try to use all their senses in that cacophony. Yes, the man crossed when the light was red and yes, the officers were doing their jobs. The problem is they could not hear the noises from the traffic signal indicating if they could cross or not. The judge listens to all of this and Sun-hop’s plea to make things fairer for the disadvantaged. He has been blind nearly his entire life and had difficulties that day, think of how bad it must be for the other man who is newly blind.
The judge takes this into consideration and decides to waive the fines that come with the ticket. He does urge Sun-hop to not go against the law to try to prove his point next time. The judge then says it is a pity Sun-hop is blind as he would make a great lawyer. Excuse me? He can’t be a lawyer simply because he is blind? Ouch. Talk about discriminatory. Of course, that is part of the point of this drama just like in how God’s Quiz part of the point was how people with rare diseases were treated poorly and misunderstood as well. The blind man thanks Sun-hop for his help and Sun-hop gives him his card and tells him to call him again if there’s ever any trouble. The judge begins repeating Sun-hop’s name and wondering why it is so familiar. Of course! Man Sun-hop is the the name of a blind barrister (just another term for lawyer…usually used more in the UK).
As Sun-hop walks outside, he puts his sunglasses back on and takes out a walking cane. At this time his ears perk up as he hears the squealing tires of a van. We get a Daredevil-like moment where the sounds are producing a picture in his head. Sun-hop tries to run away, but he is firmly caught. He yells they have the wrong person, but he is held fast. A young woman with buckteeth and a scar on her left temple walks up and tells them to bring him in.
Sun-hop is taken to a bar called Pledge and thrown onto a seat. The woman referred to as Dean Je (I am not sure if they are using ji or je to mean sister here…) slams her foot on a durian she placed between Sun-hop’s legs and begins cursing him out for not letting her know that he has gotten into trouble. The woman’s full name is Chiu Ching-mui [Sisley Choi] and apparently she is also Sun-hop’s friend and protector. Everyone knows he is under her wing and everyone fears her in Hong Kong (she has some gangster family ties) so why did he make her lose face by not telling her and letting her help? Sun-hop says it was only crossing a red light and not that big of a deal. Besides, this was a court fight not a street fight. Dean slams her foot harder into the durian making it go farther between his legs. Isn’t she also a law clerk? She can help prepare the court documents for him. Sun-hop finally snaps back and rips of his sunglasses to “stare” at her (earlier she complained he wasn’t looking at her or something to that effect) and yells asking her if she intends to hurt him with the durian.
Dean takes a large knife and splits the durian in two between Sun-hop’s legs. he then laughs and her imposing air is gone. Everything is okay since he is fine. She tells her boys to turn up the lights as this is not an interrogation and sits down next to our blind lawyer. She offers him the durian to make up and Sun-hop looks disgusted. His ears twitch and focus in on the sound of a tapping sneaker. Is Fu in trouble? How did Sun-hop know the man asks as he jumps. Because he’s pacing around in the bar. Fu says he has gotten caught carrying a lot of knives in his bag. Dean says that she always takes care of her own people and requests Sun-hop’s help in getting him acquitted. Sun-hop agrees to take on Fu’s case as it will be easy, plus he’ll get his normal fee from Dean. He goes to shake her hand and quickly withdraws, but she catches it and stuff the durian in it while laughing.
In court, Sun-hop and Dean arrive first looking very professional. Sun-hop says his client is running late due to an accident. Fu arrives a bit later wearing his normal clothing and apologizing. Sun-hop has Dean tap out code on his hand. She had given her lackey a suit to appear nice and respectable. Did Sun-hop tell him to wear that instead? Sun-hop makes a gesture and the hearing begins. The officer said he stopped Fu because of his manner of dress and his tattoos. From this alone, he believed the man was up to no good. Besides, it is known Fu has ties to a gang and has been prosecuted for using violence in the past. Why would an innocent man have 16-17 knives on him so late at night?
Sun-hop begins his brutal and methodical teardown of the officer’s testimony. He raises up his suit sleeve and shows off a tattoo. Does this mean he’s a bad person, too? This assumption of judging a book by its cover and a man by prior offenses is not correct. Sun-hop explains that Fu is a chef whose knives are his life’s blood. Fu painstakingly collected thousands of coupons to obtain the knife set from the local market. Why would a violent gangster need to do such things? He turns to the judge and said that even the judge snorted when Fu entered wearing his normal clothes. This is a bias ignoring facts. Needless to say, Fu is acquitted of his supposed crimes.
Dean and Sun-hop go back to Pledge. Sun-hop picks through the kitchen for ingredients while Dean tries to get him to stay and celebrate. Sun-hop says Dean knows what he normally does so it is pointless. She asks him when he got a tattoo. He reminds her his father is in the ministry of finance. The tattoo was only a sticker used for show. He takes his leave after collecting his fee and leaving behind money for the food he took. Dean is livid. All of these years it only money this and money that. Does Sun-hop not take her for a friend at all? She goes to tear up the money he left, but Fu quickly stops her and takes it away.
Our blind lawyer whips up pasta carbonara and settles down to eat with a glass of red wine. The doorbell rings bringing in Dean. She is loaded with bags of groceries and necessities. He must be out of things since he took stuff from the bar, right? She begins putting things away and he also helps. He is livid when he finds a bowl and chopsticks inside. Why are there extras? He has one of everything since he is alone and prefers it that way. Dean says she will join him and digs into his spaghetti. Sun-hop is livid. She has crossed the line. It’s fine if she eats the food that she brought, but she is not allowed to overstep her bounds. After the argument, Dean goes to angrily leave when Sun-hop calls her back. Has he realized how much of a jerk he was being? No. Dean didn’t take her compensation for the groceries and household items. She declares she hates him and rushes out.
The next day Dean is muttering to herself as she brings a case to Sun-hop and throws it at him. It’s right up his alley. A mentally impaired man was caught poisoning stray dogs and his mother asked for a lawyer from Dean’s firm to mitigate for her son. Sun-hop gives the angry woman a present. Dean is touched, although she hides it by complaining she doesn’t eat chocolate. When she opens the package, she gets a rude awakening. It was a gift from a client and Sun-hop was foisting it off on her since he wouldn’t eat it. Ah, these two.
They go out to the countryside where the incident occurred and meet with the man, Sum, who has the mentality of a ten-year-old. Sum is frightened by Dean’s appearance and calls her a monster. Sun-hop angrily scolds him for having no manners and treating the woman poorly who has come to help him. Again, Dean is touched. He did that for her sake, right? Sun-hop says no as he is just that mean to curse at a mentally handicapped man like that. Sum’s mother arrives home and is not pleased to see a blind man handling her son’s case. When Sun-hop yells that eyes are not necessary to be a lawyer, she changes her mind at his good hearing and begs him to mitigate her son’s case. Even she believes her son is guilty (he did confess to poisoning and burying stray dogs).
The two are shown the scene of the crime and the mom explains how Sum was caught red-handed burying a dead dog and there was a lunchbox with rat poison in it that he apparently handled as well. We then see Sum holding a pretty dog and feeding it something. The dog’s owner is furious and the item is taken from her dog’s mouth. Sum’s mother immediately begins berating him while Sun-hop takes a big handful of blueberries from the bag Sum was feeding the dog with and eats them, proving Sum wasn’t poisoning that woman’s dog. The owner doesn’t care and huffs off. Sun-hop then hears Sum mutter that blueberries are safe not grapes. Hearing this, Sun-hop knows Sum is innocent. Plus, how could such a kind an courteous man be a vicious dog killer? He helped Sun-hop and treated him extra well since Sun-hop is blind. He doesn’t want to mitigate the case now, he wants to prove his client’s innocence. Dean leaves him to return to work and Sun-hop explores on his own.
While poking around, Sun-hop discovers the nest of a private eye and follows him into the market. The detective is not happy about this and asks why he is being followed. Sun-hop immediately hugs him and begins feeling him up and down (even fondling his butt!). The other man pushes him away and asks if he is gay. Sun-hop begins listing the things the other man has in his pockets and goes through a list of what he can be. He’s not a paparazzi nor a policeman. He must be a poor private eye. The two sit down in a café and the detective says he is investigating a robbery case and is on the lookout for an injured boss who got away. Thus he is camping out at the edge of town waiting for the man to make contact with his fence. Sun-hop asks for his help in discovering the real dog poisoner since the man’s camp is not far from the dumpsite. The man reluctantly agrees to help as Sun-hop guilts him into it and also offers his help with the detective’s case.
It was funny as during this whole time, the detective kept doing things to Sun-hop to see if he’s really blind, i.e. waving his hand in front of Sun-hop’s face and putting salt into his coffee/tea. Sun-hop, since he has honed his senses since childhood, is aware of everything and is annoyed. He does manage to switch out the coffee so the other man drinks the salt beverage instead. He believes that Sun-hop must be pretending to be blind. Sun-hop takes out his ID card and turns it over. There is his disability in black and white.
The two stakeout the dump and Sun-hop requests the detective pretend to be a dog. First he acts as a dog in heat and then he sounded more like a monkey than a dog, irritating Sun-hop. The detective does goad Sun-hop into showing him what a barking dog sounds like. Night falls with no luck at spotting the real culprit.
Dean returns with food for herself and Sun-hop. The PI eyes her up and down, ticking Dean off. He says she reminds him of his idol. Who? Ronaldhino. She knows that’s an insult. Sun-hop formally introduces her to the PI who is called Kuk Yat-ha [Owen Cheung]. Yat-ha tells Dean to call him GoGo. Sun-hop breaks into his food and GoGo sneaks meat off. Dean watches while Sun-hop does nothing. Angry, she yells at him to stop and to take her. Ummm what? Dean backtracks. Take her food and stop stealing Sun-hop’s. GoGo happily complies while Dean tries to get Sun-hop to share with her with no luck. Poor Dean.
Dean is worried because Sum’s case is only a day and a half away and the real culprit hasn’t shown up. Now what? Sun-hop’s ears twitch and he throws a water bottle at the snoring GoGo’s crotch, nailing him. This wakes him up yelling, but he is silenced by Sun-hop. The criminal has arrived! They see an old man holding his abdomen put a food container down. GoGo takes pictures of the whole thing and then the three check it out. Yes, there is rat poison in the takeout box. Sun-hop believes their culprit and the man that GoGo is looking for are one and the same.
They follow the culprit to a shack in the middle of nowhere and they plant a camera inside. The man takes off his disguise and we see he has a bloody wound. He calls for takeout and GoGo is instructed to pretend to be the delivery boy. He hands over food and the criminal complains it is cold and the wrong order, but eats it anyways. GoGo shows up again and says he mistakenly gave him a container of food he found earlier. The man immediately believes he’s ingested rat poison and GoGo holds him down. Dean and Sun-hop enter and the criminal breaks free and grabs a gun. Dean is quick to douse the lights, but gets shot in her arm. Sun-hop uses his senses and disarms the man with his cane while GoGo gets a hold of him once more.
Dean records the thief’s confession of guilt. Sun-hop and Dean then leave after getting their evidence and promising not to turn the man in. This angers GoGo until Sun-hop said only he and Dean gave their words. Thus GoGo tries to bring the man in, but the felon refuses to go down without a fight and we end this episode with GoGo cornering him outside. The fun thing is GoGo is using a slingshot while the criminal uses a gun. GoGo has the advantage, but the criminal gets the upperhand and gets his mitts on GoGo’s neck demanding to know why he is following him.
I am liking this so far. Sun-hop’s character is dry and very direct. His interactions with Dean and GoGo can be hilarious. I smell a bromance brewing here. Will Sun-hop be able to overcome his fear of relationships thanks to Dean and GoGo or will we get a love interest introduced later? Can’t wait to watch more.
I said earlier that this is a plot akin to Marvel’s Daredevil. Instead of Matt Murdock who has a high moral compass and goes after criminals vigilante-style after losing cases, we have a super lawyer who is not afraid to do anything to get his innocent clients off. No need for vigilanteism here. He takes them down in the court room with his rapid fire speeches. I can’t wait to meet his rival in the courtroom. When will this lawyer appear?
