How would you rate resident evil storytelling and it's characters, esp remakes?
Di you think that's their main selling point and whatnot?
Well RE storytelling isn't good so jot that down-
Okay, but seriously, before I get into this let me tell you I have never really been into the zombie narrative as a horror connoisseur the same way I'm not into "white guy kills everyone" horror movies. The white guy kills everyone story is just as easily found when I turn on the news, but zombies?
With zombies the ending is the same. Find the cure or everyone dies eventually. It's the sub genre that relies the most on jump scares with mascot horror recently sliding in alongside it. I couldn't pinpoint the exact decade where the zombie narrative switched to being more character focused in order to keep the genre fresh for people who enjoy it, but we are currently in the aftermath of that decision.
That said, RE storytelling isn't good. It can be fun! I put fun and good on two different graphs when I judge the writing in the piece of media I partake in. For example? The Venom movies are so much fun! They have nothing to do with spiderman which is the symbiote's literal origin story for finding eddie brock later. This is a facet many comic fans find blasphemous, but if you have half a brain or aren't a dick about canon requirements, you'll still get so much enjoyment out of the movies themselves. They stand on their own without spiderman, which I think is a feat well done. Very fun and entertaining.
So yeah, RE storytelling and the characters can be fun. There is a potential for it to be good, but in order for that potential to be reached Capcom has to do something they forever avoid in their writing.
Commit to the characters' in-game relationships.
:)
Put your shipping hopes down. I don't mean romantic. I mean commit to Leon and Claire being friends who shared a horribly traumatic event together. Commit to Ada's mixed feelings about Leon and her job. Commit to Leon's mixed feelings about Ada and LYING about never seeing her to Hunnigan, a woman and co-worker he can actually trust. Commit to showing Jill's unhealthy reliance on Chris just as much as we see Chris' unhealthy reliance on Jill. Show Barry as a family man who's made mistakes with his wife and kids and tries to work things out. WHERE IS HIS WIFE CAPCOM? Show Rebecca reminiscing on her time from RE0, and IDK place a letter she sent out to someone from a strange address who's speech style looks vaguely familiar. Show Sherry's trauma from her constantly healing body and make her have a weird relationship with doctors. Show that Sherry got to interact with Claire at the very least?????? REDFIELD SIBLINGS?!?!?! REDFIELD SIBLINGS SURE DON'T FUCKING ACT LIKE SIBLINGS. WHAT THE FUCK WAS DEATH ISLAND? IM GONNA-(cane drags me off stage)
"Oh, but people will take those things as shipping purpose and we don't want to imply that."
Idk, it's apparently already in the damn trenches in spaces I never go to (tiktok, twitter, insta, etc), and I don't think the people making MLP aus give a shit regardless. Plus, this game series is so old they're making money strictly off the brand name like every other AAA game series.
I genuinely mean that. Capcom could do the exact same shit with RE4 that Bethesda did with Skyrim, and they'd make bank every fucking time. Oh wait, they did with constantly have to port it to new systems!
Let me see Leon and Hunnigan laughing and sharing coffee in the break room. Let me see text message chats from Claire and Chris ribbing each other. Let me see Jill shopping for clothes with Chris being forced to hold all the bags. Let me see old photos of Barry with his wife and daughters at an amusement park before "the incident". Let me see Rebecca and Jill trauma bonding while spending the night together. Let me see Chris and Leon awkwardly make eye contact on a job neither of them expected to be on at the same time. Let me see Ada sneaking into TerraSave, and let Claire send a selfie of them to Leon only to have Leon freak the fuck out. Claire and Rebecca going to cafes? Jill helping Chris fix up his car? HELLO CAPCOM?! COMMIT! COMMIT! COMMIT! COMMIT! COMMIT! FOR FUCKS SAKE-
These don't even have to be big moments! Just 20-30 seconds of animation? Painted illustrations? An option to read a report in game stating these things happened? Anything! Anything! Is anyone in here?! IT'S SO DARK!

Hi Oakie,
I got three questions in a trench-coat for you
1 & 2 Pressures on storytelling & worldbuilding for storytelling:
Much as Startrek envisions an alternative economic system which outlasts our own in order to give breathing room for other stories to be told... What kinds of stories and challenges within worlds do you personally enjoy the most, and which pressures would you like to see alleviated or amplified for the sake of said storytelling, as a lens -- one of each (amplified and alleviated)?
2. Why I ask this:
I've noticed whatever successful SF speculation features becomes a cultural mould for a potential future... ...And SF which lampshades real things looking forward instead of looking back often ends up creating torture-nexuses which are recreated instead of like, solved or prevented. I'd also like to know your thoughts on this phenomenon too.
Sorry that this is such a big complex question, but you sent me a very lovely message, and I wanted to respond in turn with a nice meaty question :3
Take care
Big one! love this. I'll do my best First I have to just praise trek, the post-money economy is extremely interesting, mostly because of its optimism. thats probably my answer for favorite? in terms of just how revolutionary it was for my worldview. I was into star trek less growing up, thinking it was boring, and i was attracted to things that were cool and badass, like a lil boy. (thats why i liked robots so much, they fill your senses, hard angles of cold bright refecltive surfaces, theyre often loud, with engines and fans and computer tones and servos. and they so visually detailed and interesting and every tiny piece is crafted that just looking at one is like a visual puzzle you can feel how all the pieces fit together. sorry mech tangent) but thats why star trek was kinda boring to me was how simplistic it was, the robot was just a man in makeup. same with the aliens. but as ive gotten older i more appreciate how the very simplistic medium gives the show freedom to do creative stuff. its more cerebral than i was used to, more about ideas but yeah it was revolutionary for me that there was a show, not that i watched but it was in my orbit i was aware of it, where money didn't exist. it was a silly fiction, and i laughed at it and said thats dumb how would that even work? but again as ive gotten older and eventually watched all of TOS, TNG, DS9, ENT, VOY, the movies... like, i love it. i love it so so much. both for philosophical reasons and also its just relaxing to watch. Just to see how someone thought it might be possible to organize things without coercive incentive to work i think thats why im an anticapitalist. because of just the immense mind numbing waste of it all, the waste of resources the waste of potential the waste of everyones waking lives destroying the planet to create worthless goods nobody wants or needs for the enrichment of an increasingly small number of individuals. The sheer volume of effort no longer being put to waste, but put to use, can move mountains. What if we all just cared about eachother ? sorry its gonna be hard to stay on topic lol. but yeah the pressure i love to see alleviated is capitalism, coercive hierarchy, the endless meaningless grind. fiction can be bleak and still be good of course, but i ADORE fictional worlds where everyone is just nice to eachother and gets along and like, there are problems that need to be solved of course, but everyone is coming from a place of earnest compassion and collective self interest. More eloquent people than me have written about why the protagonists of star trek are heroic examples of stable healthy moral people
another fiction very like this is My Little Pony (please dont think im cringe) where they still have money and jobs, and bills to pay, but things are just generally very pleasant and the core of trust and friendship is solid, the government is ruling with the consent and trust of the people, and they all live in harmony with the environment (because there is no natural environment really, the weather is controlled with precise magic administered by the government) and its a system that works. it soothes my autism to see a system that works to change gears a little, Altered Carbon hit me with a ver unique idea, which was taking away the constraints of the link between body and mind. its a world where peoplle can switch bodies at will. as a trans person, err, it hit me lol. i topped watching because it gives me dysphoria. but its such a cool idea that, the idea that what if we were freed from the constraints of our bodies, of aging, of sex and anatomy and biology, of distance (they visit other planets over the itnernet instead of flying there physically by bodyswapping with people who are already there) but NOT relieving us from the constraints of wealth inequality or oppressive government or addiction or abusive relationships. like theyre ostensibly more free, but theyre also more free to be violated by the system
i am also a very technology focused writer and i like stories that focus on the transformative effect of technologies as they branch out and develop. one constraint i always enjoy seeing imposed is a lack of advanced computers. in our world computers have becomes a kind of end-tech, we want to use computer to do everything possible as fast as possible. "computerize it" has become a goal in and of itself, the solution to every problem i got off topic but im just gonna send this and finish my thought later so i dont get distracted and lose it
Problems I like to see overcome? same thing, is the destruction of hierarchy, the abandonment of harmful traditions, the overthrowing of corrupt institutions. revolution stories. star trek also got me interested in the science mystery where characters hvae to use a combination of deductive reasoning, technology, and lateral thinking to figure out a question or solve a puzzle or mystery. As well as the struggle to come to understand a person or creature or scoeity thats very different from you. Exchange from different cultural perspectives. Also, of course, like i said before, i love technology and i love reading about research and development, so i love a story thats about trying to invent or innovate some new advancement. Code Geass was fun because it had mechs, but also there was a big story focus on the arms race of developing faster and better mechs before the other side
Tumblr media
The Torment Nexus problem is real. On the one hand i don't think it should stop people from writing. But on the other hand, yeah, its almost inevitable that somebody is going to extract a single fragmentary idea from a story, which should normally have a whole moral context to it, and then apply it to disasterous ends. I dont think its a problem with moral clarity in writing though, i dont think its a matter of "don't they know you're not supposed to create the tormnet nexus?" because thats almost irrelevant. we're dealing with a mass of humanity where maybe millions of people may read a particular work, its going to be interpreted in every possible ways. and the people who have monetary incentive to interpret it in a way where they simply disregard the moral context and imitate the systems of oppression to develop a product they can sell. the invisible third comment in between Sci-Fi Author and Tech Company is the silent, omnipresent profit incentive paying them to make the torment nexus. The problem isn't that Tech Company doesn't KNOW the torment nexus is bad. the book is called Don't Create the Torment Nexus. They know, theyre just paid not to care

Like I know you already know it, but I just wanted to profess publicly that I love you [in a platonic regard] and your writing - and your art so god damn much - and you are amazing - and I am so happy that you exist! Thank you for you contributions to make life not suck so much! <3
*im not crying, ur crying*
And I'm so incredibly grateful to have you around and to be the recipient of so much validation, as a writer who went down the industry's query trenches, with all the pain that entails.
To me, writing is all about making connections--between thoughts, words and people. Storytelling is a social thing. The stories I write only come alive when read by others, and to get a response, to hear the echo, is the most humane thing I can hope for.
Your support means so much!

OKAY SO—I AM CURRENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF MY 3D ASSESSMENT FOR ART SCHOOL AND IM LIKE 70 TO 80 PERCENT DONE BUT I DO NOT CARE—WHEN NANAGO STRIKES, NANAGO STRIKERS
context—i was peacefully chatting with a schoolmate abt said 3d assessment while my sister was playing thru the genshin nahida birthday event. i didnt exactly see her screen but i didnt need to because back when i used to play genshin, nahida was one of my favorite characters and her archon quest is so good—both lorewise and storytelling wise
the reason this caught my attention was because one of the nahida birthday cutscenes for the event played and it was—LSFJGHKl it was one of my favorite genshin character trailers ever played and i watched it over and over and it lives dormant in my heart—here it is! it is required watching for context LMAO
youtube
NOW—to the people that KNOW, yall can probably suspect whats coming up. and to the people that dont—lemme lay it down "havent played genshin in 1 to 3 years" style LMAO
TLDR: nahida, the child god of wisdom, was captured and trapped by scholars that serve as the kind of? governing body of her nation. for the past 500 odd years or so, she has been used as a sort of "god battery" to power the equivalent of the internet on steroids. during this time, the scholars have grown displeased with her and her ideas of knowledge and wisdom as they clashed with their own, and collaborated with a terrorist organization to make their own god of wisdom. both the scholars and said terrorist organization fail, thanks to the actions of the MC and nahida, and she is returned back to her rightful place as god and ruler of said nation
i skipped thru a lot of details but thats the main gist of it. im kind of impressed since i just—pulled that off dome with no reference lmaooo. but YES, now that the housekeeping is done, its nanago time KLJGSRL;GhJN
what if, when gojo was sealed in the prison realm, kenjaku hadn't immediately thrown him into the marianas trench but instead used it similarly to how nahida was used like a battery? because i mean—it would make sense, considering the amount of cursed energy needed to keep those insane barriers up for the culling games, and to pull non-participants out of the culling games areas via the cursed realm. gojo would also serve as a good backup if his original plan for the merger ever fails—aka merging tengen with all of humanity. they could instead merge gojo's filtered cursed energy or gojo himself or something with all of humanity itself. he could also speed up his plan of turning everyone into sorcerers via using gojo as a battery to use Idle Transfiguration on a massive scale
but—thats just main plot stuff, the thing i wanna focus on is the nitty gritty of it—like gojo's experience inside the prison realm, how the "battery function" works, and how he'd be able to escape with nanami's help. and OFC nanami's there, how tf can it be nanago without the other half of the equation??? LDFJLBKj
i actually have a bunch of ideas already, with this main one being the strongest—the battery function, i imagine, needs to open the Prison just barely enough for some cursed energy to seep out to be used. maybe itll come out thru the eyes or something—that part doesnt matter as much as this next part. when it slightly opens, theres always gonna be the smallest chance that whoever's inside, aka gojo, can break out so, theres a function imbedded in it that renders whats inside mostly unable to function
and THIS is the part where we get really into the nahida inspiration. in the main story of the game, there is an entire plot where you're essentially in a pseudo-time loop and you've been looping for countless times and, if you hadn't figured out that you were in a pseudo-time loop, you DEFINITELY would've died. nahida helps you out because you're not the only one in said time loop, EVERYONE IS and she doesnt particularly want everyone to fucking die. with her help and some ace attorney-esque deduction, you find out that the pseudo-time loop is actually a looping dream and to break out of the murder dream time loop, you have to wake up the person who the bad guys attached the murder dream time loop to and is projecting to literally everyone.
i feel like you can see where im going with this.
everytime the cursed realm is used as a battery, gojo has to time loop relive a memory. i was originally thinking that he would have to relive a bad memory for the angst, but ive come up with a better idea that makes more sense
when its open/used as a battery, he relives a nice memory/has a nice dream. this is to ensure that he doesnt want to leave, and just stays in the comfort of the dream. when its closed/not used as a battery, he relives bad memories/goes through nightmares. this is because cursed energy is made from negative emotions, and this is the Prison Realm just "charging" itself
its not a full concept yet—im toying with the idea of having nanami try to get in while its open to get gojo out and try to convince him to leave the sweet dream (kind of hsr penacony of me lmao), or for nanami to be suuuuuper dead and for his memory to torment gojo in the nightmare when kenjaku isnt using it
eitherway, its a p fun concept and idea to think abt, and if you wanna take this idea and run with it? PLEASE DO OH MY GOD YOU HAVE MY FULLY BLESSING KFRHDSGklj

short review!
its tøp's new song, Next Semester. i immediately listened as it released. i didnt bother reviewing Overcompensate cus i was okay with the song. but this one is a of a let down for me.
(tw for mentions of suicide)
i love the lyrics. the storytelling on this one i found quite dark and sad but more blatant than usual. tyler isnt new to writing Very Dark topics, but i dont think he's been this upfront with a story. i think hes mostly more descriptive and poetic in the past (?). (i hope im using words correctly, its like ass o-clock as im writing this)
sounds like the songs talking abt a failed suicide attempt or an accident. the narrator talks abt how they sometimes get flashbacks but theyre getting better and wants to start fresh on a new school year. wether hes telling his own story, telling someone else's, or playing a character, is a bit unclear.
compared to other songs hes written within the same topic (i'll say like Guns for Hands or Migraine) hes less poetic. some songs can be blatant, especially recent ones (like Neon Gravestones and Redecorate) but Next Semester just straight up tells you what happens. not as sugarcoated as vessel or sai, not as poetic as some songs on trench either.
i enjoyed the lyrics quite. but sonically it let me down.
the song starts with what sounds like a rip-off of the ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop". at times, i dont mind stuff like this. pop punk can sound a bit too uniform and im used to it. but tyler sounds so sleepy... it lacks the energy needed to at least elevate a part thats boring and repetitive, especially at the start of a song. this continues for abt half of the song.
the second part is really pretty tho. with the keys and a pickup in energy with tyler Finally waking up his vocals. also a really anthemic chorus with the little "wooooaaaaooohhh" thing. i've listened to this song a total of 4 times after the release and im already singing along. and then theres the ukulele outro. reminds me of like 2018 when i would listen to cavetown, mxmtoon, all that kinda stuff.
overall the song sounds very nice but it cant be helped with the fact that it got REALLY dragged down by the first half. it got me thinking, was that punk part really necessary? cus it just didnt fit the vibe (of the lyrics and the second half of the track).
i have a feeling Clancy will be another mixed bag of songs.
4/10 -> 5/10
i hope we'll hear better tracks later on.
im sorry did i say "short"?
[edit: after listening a few more times, i also appreciated the transitions between parts arent jarring or awkward. also tge song sonically grew on me a little but still not a fan of the first half.]
[edit 2: i did make this review like half awake at Ass O'clock™ but holy shit this is the worst review i've written like what the hell was she yapping abt broo]

I love the way the story of Dema/Trench is being told. Its got all the elements of a story, characters, settings, (a) general theme(s), and a plot vague enough that allows the fans to add their own perspective onto it. The story of Trench relies on what the fans think of it, what the fans see, and what we interpret. We're a part of the worldbuilding and storytelling as Tyler and Josh are, and I think that's one of the many reasons why its so beloved.
Everyones version of this story is true in my opinion. Even if it doesn't follow everything the boys gave us. Cause everyone has their own Trench. Their own Dema they've been or are stuck in. Everyone has their own Blurryface and/or Bishops who keep them down. How your Dema works doesn't have to align with how mine or any other fans Dema works, and that's a pretty damn good analogy for mental illness. We're all going through it, but we're not exactly the same.
With that being said, to all my fellow cliqqies who bless us with your shared versions through art, writing, and theories, absolutely love yall. I love seeing and hearing what other people get out of the story and messages TOP shares with us. Its honestly helped me so much with my own interpretation. Im not the brightest tool in the shed, and Ive often had important details fly over my head and only got to get something or understand something after fellow fans pointed it out, so thank you ❤️
I hope even after the story concludes in the future and TOP moves to the next project, we still give this story attention. Ive never once had a piece of media stick so close to my heart before. Ever since Trench, a day doesn't go by where I had at least one thought regarding this world.

bc @realitv got me gOIN--
media and tb literally cant tell the difference between low key with and without a hat and raybans and since theyre the only two dumbasses whove ever seen low key it checks also i personally headcanon that world smells Off to media but they're just here to get money and leave not to ask stupid questions AISISJSJS
but also it gets complicated when u realise the mass media is now parasitically on the internet which means the network world talks abt in the show is run by tb and media and tb at least are on that same neural network - as are any new gods that are digital by nature or have been made newly into digital. so the question is can low key w the glamour tap in to that network? or at least fake it? and how would that line of code run in tb? would tb also know world is Off in the same way media knows world is off?
low key got that silver tongue tho so that at least helps theres just a lot of weird wild shit going on in the show canon that beefs everyone up. like media controls reality or some bullshit now bc everything we understand is a byproduct of mass media tb is the war machine bc tb is tech incarnate anYWAY IM SORRY FOR RAMBLING TOODLE
YEAH THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT FGKJHSFDL even if you just look at the book, if he’s just 2 lokis in a trench coat people like media at least woulda noticed after a bit methinks.
add in the even MORE eldritch nature of the show and the importance of interconnection in ALL the new gods it’s even more like “hoLY SHIT LOKI WHAT DID YOU DO????”
I think-- to some extent-- it’s a Thing, and a quietly Well Known thing among the new gods that mr. world is Not Young at all but is very very old. It’s the thinking is that for ages he was more of a primordial concept, a thought on the verge of corporealization for ages slowly gaining force over the centuries and only nowish is he walking around. Assuming we’re going with the idea that World means “all, the group, everything, connectiveness, the whole,” etc that kinda thing, it would then make sense, that he’d always have Been but hadn’t Been in the same way the others were until just now. Which would also explain why the others are so batshit scared of him at times. He’s big and pretty unkillable bc he’s “the whole”. if he goes it means everyone is dead.
that’s also something loki could work with as much of his place in myth relates to integration, communication, travel, knowledge/learning, trade, etc. all of which relate to that idea of connectiveness. he’s also a shapeshifter and apparently at least once just dead ass lived on midgard as a woman and lived a totally different life? he’s always Loki but he can also be Anything, he’s elastic and he builds and makes himself in his stories, he adapts more than pm everyone else in his pantheon which is made easier in some ways as time goes on and much of his original lore is lost and his mythos is left full of holes.
Except he must always be the Adversary, he cannot escape that come a ragnarok he must be opposed to odin and lead his children against the gods he used to call friend. loki twisting and adapting himself, taking advantage of the gaps in knowledge about him to alter himself and independently thrive in the new age is kinda par the course, especially once he has a goal to work towards like the Big Sham Blam. So loki might have actually altered himself somewhat into actually being a god of connectivity/whole-ness, the world thing could easily be a facet and Real hence why there’s no alarm bells in the new gods camp. loki in myth is connected to spiders, webs, nets, tangles, threads, and schemes which works perfectly with mr world. slightly less textual but no more real is his connection to storytelling, tall tales, words, flyting, communication etc etc. he invented nets at minimum which was Technology at the time like-- loki positioning himself as the leader and father of the new gods does work if you allow him to be even more terrifying than he was???? like it seems like when everyone else was being sad loki was studying the blade fgsfgsdgfsd
okay i’m stopping here bc ngl i blacked out somewhere in there and idk if i even responded to that at all or just Went Somewhere fdsglhsfdljghfsd

15. personality description
oh boy here we go. i joke around a lot. i have a strong “if you want my respect you have to earn it” policy. a crap ton of mental illnesses stacked into a trench coat. i get overly excited about things that no one gives a shit about. im pretty chill. normally i dont get very angry but i hold grudges for a hell of a long time. id like to think im a decent person. i’m a punk kid.
35. favourite subject
i mean if we are talking school i would obviously go with creative options like theatre music art all that fun jazz, but i really like english. writing is fun and i’ve been told im pretty good at it. but just writing. everything else sucks. idk being creative is my jam and jelly babey
36. 3 dreams you want to fulfill?
three dreams huh? one of them is definitely to be able to draw well. i can kinda draw but if you have ever seen anything from my art blog u know i mostly suck. i always wanted to be a storyteller. i have so many worlds and ideas. making a comic is always a dream I had. that kinda goes in hand with the art thing. third dream lemme think. . . playing guitar. i just want to be able to play guitar well. I cant at the moment but playing songs on the guitar is one of my favorite things to do so yeah! maybe one day make music but thats too big a dream for me lol.
thanks for the ask bro!!

Tap'N With Rapper HeyImAtlass (Copy)
Tell us about your story and how you got to where you are? I’m .M.E.N.A.C.E., a West Baltimore storyteller that paints pictures of graphic street life. I grew up like a lot of kids in my city. We all start off somebody’s perfect angel until we start this journey we call life. I always loved music since a child and wanted to rap. Real life get in the way of childhood dreams sometimes because by the age of 8 I knew what murder look like up close in person. One moment you walking to the candy lady house to get a frozen cup then the next you hear shots. Shit became normal. In these type of environments everything comes down to choices. I’m someone who made of bunch of choices. Good, ugly, bad and life changing choices. I learned from trial & error. One reason for the errors was a lack of guidance and vision. And that’s where I come in with my artistry! My experiences make me qualified to speaks on the wins and losses of the street.
What has been your biggest obstacle in your journey as an artist? Nothing really to be honest because obstacles are meant to be overcome. Shit never feels good when it’s too easy. The hustle & grind build ambition, hunger, and makes a man out you. What lessons have you learned? Words are power! Whatever you speak into your existence will appear.
Tell us about your music; how would you describe your sound? Raw & uncut. True Street Realism! A lot of my content speaks about dark realities most of my listeners will never see.
What other artists would you compare yourself to? I really don’t like to compare myself to anybody because I feel one of a kind. But if I had to choose a artist I would definitely say 50 Cent.
If you could work with any artists, who would you choose? Mozzy is one of my favorites that I look forward to tapping in wit. G Perico is another one. I can’t think of everybody at the moment. But I’m a fan of a lot of artists so I’m open to collaborate, as long as you have morals and principles. I take my craft seriously and so should everyone else.
What sets you apart from other artists? My authenticity and attention to detail in my music. Anybody can talk about killing people or selling drugs. Question is can you paint a vivid picture? Can you make your words come to life and force the human brain into a self envisioned movie? Most these niggas can’t!
What should we know about your work? It’s from the heart.
What are your plans for the future? Get rich and take care of my people.
What motivates you, or keeps you going? My 2 daughters Amaya & Noel. The obstacles I’ve overcome and everything I represent. Baltimore is home of the underdogs. When I win I show another young kid in the trenches he can do it too.
Tell us something that might surprise people about you Im a huge American Horror Story fan. I like how writers can use the most horrific stories based on true to create stories on screen. Stories that gives history lessons on sadistic American while entertaining. That shit is a masterpiece.
How do you define success? Success to me is a spiritual & mentally thing only you can say who’s more successful then you or even validate what is successful if you get what I mean in other words my success is defined by me I feel like I’m already successful by pursing my dreams N tryna get my family out this mf beautiful struggle but to some success is defined by material shit like chains whips n shit like that tbh success to me is moving forward wit progression and positivity cause every step you take towards your main goal is success when you get to your goal now you’ve reached being successful cause you have succeeded in every milestone you had now you reached your goal ain’t no more succeeding to do you already won Tell us about any projects or music you have coming out. I just dropped a new project called “90s Baby Freestyles”. Hosted by DJ Nick from Marino Infantry. That’s out now exclusively on SoundCloud, Audiomack and YouTube! All classic 90s beats getting slaughtered from Biggie’s “Suicidal Thoughts “ to DPG’s legendary diss track “ New York New York”. Following that bomb we’ll be dropping “In King Munch We Trust “ so stay tuned.
How can people find you and contact you? You can find me on IG and Twitter @lormenace and my YouTube channel High Table Entertainment

ill never write anything for it bc im not one for longform fics but it DOES have a plot which is like. gertrude robinson (leader of a certain kingdom) is killed at a big fancy event and jon and basira (members of the kingdom’s court) suspect elias (gertrude’s advisor) so they have to go around and get testimony from a bunch of guests at the event who were witnesses in order to prove it and get elias locked up. like elias totally did kill gertrude the motive is like. he was next in line to become the leader bc he was the oldest mer in the faction behind gertrude but mers live like a stupid long time and he didnt want to wait for her to die to take power so he had her assassinated. so the plot is jon and basira trying to gather evidence to prove it
other details ive ironed out
- the entities arent real theres just vague categorizations of types of magic that over time theyve all pretty much divided themselves up into kingdoms/factions according to. habitat reflects this as well those buried mfs live in like the fucked up trenches and stuff. i like to think that the vast mers dont exactly have like. a territory at all the way the lonely mers live in the arctic and the corruption mers live in swamps and stuff i think the vast mers just go wherever theres a lot of open water
- i like to think the dark mers look super weird and fucked up like deep sea fish like theyre still mermaid SHAPED but they have like. fangs and huge fins and stuff like that. jan kilbride voice i love manuela my anglerfish wife with prehensile hair
- in factions like the dark or the desolation mers their leader takes a more active role but for the corruption or hunt mers its just like. the oldest one there who has to go to meetings. the leadership system varies super wildly
- theres no extinction kingdom but its like. theyre like basically a ghost story that mers from other factions tell their children to make sure they dont go anywhere close to human settlements and get seen. im thinking in this world humanity and merfolk have ok peace relations but in the past humanity saw them as oddities and demons and things to be kidnapped or killed so the merfolk that lived closer to the surface/around humanity (so mostly the corruption, desolation, eye, hunt, and stranger factions) started telling stories about merfolk that live on shorelines that have been polluted by humanity and the stories vary depending on who you ask but most of them say the extinction mer have like. real nasty mutations and stuff from living in polluted water for so many generations or that theyll eat the children of mer from other factions etc etc like the point of it is to scare kids so they stay safe and away from humanity. nobody actually knows if the extinction mer are real or not a lot of mer claim to have seen them but its never been verified
- jon knows two (2) humans (tim and georgie) who themselves are not particularly worldly? so this means that jon has SOME knowledge of the human world but no context for it at all. he gets all his info from those two and from like. books and papers that humans drop into the water so half of it is waterlogged and unreadable but he does his best
- the spiral faction take extreme enjoyment in fucking around and driving humans insane but theyre mostly truced with other mers theyre just weird bastards. michael voice helen and i are responsible for the bermuda triangle
- the slaughter mers live exclusively in wrecked warships and they collect human weaponry and like. wear it as jewelry and shit. mermelanie has a necklace of bullet shells
- i had the idea that mers have certain characteristics that set them apart from humans besides the tails (webbed hands, larger eyes with no lashes, etc) and the stranger mers just dont have those. like they look like humans in mermaid costumes. not even a real fish species or anything their tails just look like theyre fake
- i think some factions are very big on like. storytelling and some arent so like theres some folktales and stuff that stranger mers know but eye mers dont etc etc anyway they have to go ask annabelle for something she has and sashas like no we cant the web mers will eat us and jon and basira (have never heard of the concept of cannibalism) are like THEYLL WHAT??? mikaele salesa is also human and he is annabelle’s friend. he does not know that she is a carnivorous siren but thats okay bc she wouldnt eat him anyway
- i see fantasy politics i go nutso im like. i have to iron out every facet of this made up political system. i had this really REALLY funny idea of like. the corruption and stranger kingdoms have a lot of weird diplomatic tension and have for like all of eternity so in a last ditch attempt to improve relations they tried to marry off sixteen-year-old sasha james and sixteen-year-old timothy hodge but they could not STAND each other and the night they were supposed to get married they had a fight so bad they genuinely almost killed each other and as a result the corruption and stranger kingdoms are on like literally the brink of war but i cant figure out a way to integrate it into the plot at all so thats just a fun private worldbuilding tidbit that makes me want to die laughing
yes i am thinking about my mermaid au again

Thoughts from a returning SnK fan
Like most fans during the peak of SnK’s popularity (2013-2014), I was pretty much going through a huge SnK craze. I remember following a bunch of SnK-related blogs, looking at fanart, checking and staying in the tags almost every hour, reading a lot of meta material, playing OSTs on repeat, the whole shebang. And like most fans, my interest dramatically fell by the wayside when the wait for S2 pretty much grew into eternity. Even when I got around to reading the manga (starting from where S1 left off), life became super chaotic and busy. But now I’m back! (And hopefully for good?) I’m actually pleasantly surprised that the fandom on here is still going strong. Obviously not to the same hype everyone was living up to back in 2013. To those who’ve been committed to the manga and fandom after all these years, major kudos and I’m sure your tired eyes have seen a lot. So although I had let go of this series, I’ve been playing catch up these last couple of months simply because SnK holds a special place in my heart. With everything I’ve gathered up up to this point, here are the immediate and nonsensical thoughts coming from a returning fan, fresh and untainted by years of shipping wars, fanon vs. canon wars, misconstrued meta discussions, and other fun stuff that comes with being in a fandom:
FOUR-year wait just for 12 eps ?? HHMMmm okay sounds fair ..
jokes on meE!! reiner was the protagonist this whole entire time!!1!
that serum bowl or whatchamacallit didnt need to happen for the plot to progress
when and as u get older, trust me when i say the vets really grow on u more, maybe more than the 104th *continues grieving over mike, nanaba, and moblit’s death*
jean and armin’s friendship is p fcking solid if u ask me. GOOD job isayama
we get to decide hange’s gender ?? *daydreams about female commander hange overthrowing the patriarchy esp the shitty mps and establishing a wonder woman-esque island where she, as queen, and other babes conquer the forces of evil* *me, quietly whispering to myself:* “yes, v good”
im p sure kenny was written in a way so that i and others despise and luv him at the same time CUZ ITS WORKIN on me
ymir .. u beautiful, tragic soul. how can anyone ever hate u…
eyebrow game still at its all-time high i see. u kno who im talking bout
gj on mikasa for learning to be less protective of eren and allowing him to grow up and mature
pieck, arguably the most beautiful eldian warrior, is given the ugliest titan (next to the beast). Disrespect
never thought i’d see the day i graduate college before annie breaks outta that crystal….
u kno that ocean scene? i am literally both levi and hange whenever im at the beach
uprising was arguably the best arc nothing makes me happier than exposing shitty politics, executing a coup, and i guess seeing gun battles between humans in a titan-eating world
nine, NINE members left in the SC?? oh i gotta see how this goes
leaving an inexperienced teen on the throne? i also gotta see how this goes *whispers:* “u can do it historia”
u mean to tell me, canonically, hange and levi sTILL have one of the most solid relationship dynamics to come outta snk ?? Sign me da fck up A++
*dot pixis going ballistic over jean’s omelette* u kno what, ill have what hes having
did i mention erwin didnt need to be pitted against armin but wHATEVER drives the plot and creates unending conflict between fans i guESS !!¿
the scene where zackly tortured that official? we dont talk about dat
the scene where levi wreaked havoc on zeke and the assembly line of titans? LETS TALK ABOUT THAT
new world and new characters in the last arc???¿¿ bc that four-year wait obliterated a significant fcking chunk of your fanbase lmao but sure, ur story, my cool dudes
everyone in official SC trench coats ??!¿ v good, v goodd
WOW isayama, the improvement in your art.. VERY NICEE
the original operations squad? Ah VERY wise card to draw. the new operations squad? WOW amazingg. but how bout i defeat ur cards with: Farlan and Isabel!!!11!!1 drawing this card will give 80+% of TLC to levi
so thats it huh. all that storytelling and character development just for the walled cast to get fking murked by titan-shifting warrior children from McMarleyWorld
me, talking with friends who used to watch snk: y’all kno annie still in the crystal lmao
aot: junior high kept my dying spirit alive while waiting for s2. if u havent watched it, are u even a fan ??¿¿¿
ty for ur immense contribution to humanity, ilse langnar, ty ty ty
even now, sasha is still incredibly underrated. her humor. her courage. her badass archery and all its badassery. valuable and indispensable character imo
already mentally preparing myself for levi, hange, and eren’s death bc how else will they go with the way the plot is heading amiright? *slips into complete darkness to process this*
four-year time skip, four-year wait for S2, new characters and new world late in the game, this series is a mess lmao

T wenty One Pilots have dropped their long-anticipated album Trench. The album arrives three years after their last release, 2015’s acclaimed Blurryface, and sees the group continue their trend of experimentation and storytelling.
The album, with its lengthy rollout and cryptic clues left by the group, has inspired tons of excited reactions and memes on Twitter. Many of the tweets focused on the fact that the group, made up of Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph, haven’t lost a step since releasing Blurryface, and may have in fact topped themselves. Some are just thrilled to see Twenty One Pilots back, while others feel that they’ve delivered the album of the year, and are expecting it to dominate next year’s Grammy Awards.

Fans Are Thrilled With the Album’s Musical Variety
A popular meme on Twitter had fans using images of people dancing or tearing up to express the emotional roller coaster that the album has taken them on. This was especially the case when the song “Smithereens,” an upbeat, catchy pop tune, transitions to the more somber, reflective song “Neon Gravestones.”
Another song that captivated listeners was the song “Chlorine,” which, according to Genius, is about an attempted suicide. The musical website speculates that the protagonist of the song has an urge to drink the deadly chemical after being trapped in Dema for so long. “CHLORINE STANS MAKE SOME NOISE,” tweeted one eager user with a dancing gif.

If not my surname or my husband’s, could we call our child after a New Zealand volcano?
Franki Cookney and her husband didnt much like one another surnames, so now theyre having a baby theyve are determined to pick a brand-new one
When my husband, Rob, and I wedded last year, the question of what to do about our surnames scarcely participated our discussions. We are both writers, so our identifies are on every piece of work we do. That we would impede our own seemed a demonstrated. There was just one niggling mistrust. What would happen if we had children?
I had always had considered that we would just protrude both our reputations on birth certificates credential, but I knew this didnt quite resolve the problem. Whose call would go first? And which appoint would end up being used?
We could use a double-barrel identify, but didnt seem our surnames, Cookney and Davies, lent themselves to hyphenation. Whichever prescribe you have selected, the result is clunky and we were reluctant to saddle a child with it.
We could have just chosen whichever refer sounded best with our newborn given name. But in that scenario, one mother purposes up not sharing a surname with their child and neither of us missed that. Plus, Id listened too many narratives of mothers being agreed upon at airfield insurance because the epithets on their passports didnt competitor that of their children.
The conventional alternative of taking my husbands surname was never on the table. Fairly apart from the feminist principle of not was intended to relinquish my identity for his, I wasnt keen on the reputation. Rob supported this and was by no means offended. The misfortune was, he wasnt a fan of my name either. Its just a bit cumbersome, he said. Its virtually Cockney but not quite. Youre incessantly having to spell it out. We looked at our moms maiden mentions and our grandparents names but always ceased up back in the same plaza, feeling that it wasnt equal, that picking one side of their own families over another wasnt fair.
We hit on the idea of taking a brand-new name about a year ago when before our wed we went to write our wills. As we chatted to one of the attorneys, it transpired that he and his wife had done exactly this. Theres a fair bit of admin, but its good, it makes, he said , nod decisively. Unexpectedly, it didnt seem so preposterous. This wasnt some foolish rebellion or bohemian pretentiousness, this was something lawyers did!
We mooted it with pals, who were largely unfazed. What refer will you go for? was the thing they were most strange about. Good topic. Could we blend the letters of our identifies and develop something new, we amazed. Rosters were reached: Dents, Cave, Devine, Kinsey, Dacovnicks Cookies? Nothing of them fairly hit the mark.
As our wedding depicted nearer, we employed the appoint activity on a back burner. But when I became pregnant 3 months later, we were forced to look at developments in the situation afresh and decided to change tacking. How about a home? I recommended. Somewhere weve saw that we cherished. A backpacking stint before we got married had left us with batch to choose from but most sounded reasonably odd when attributed to a couple of ordinary Brits. Rob and Franki Tongariro owned a certain verve, but naming yourself after a New Zealand volcano would be ridiculous. And Zhangjiajie might make remembers of dazzling Chinese mountains, but imagine having to incantation it every time you booked a whisker appointment or called your internet provider. For a while Salento and Chaltn were on the schedule, after places available in Colombia and Argentina. But we werent convinced we are to be able pull off the patently Latino-sounding former and supposed the latter would result in a lifetime of chastising people who pronounced it Charlton.
Then Rob said, What about Stone Town? The beautiful old-fashioned town of Zanzibar City is where he had asked me to marry him. It instantly appeared right. Stone was straightforward but significant. It chimed good with both our first name and after a few weeks of trying it on with other reputations would work well with almost anything we chose for our baby. It was perfect: a solid name( with a potential for puns that was not failed on us) that felt like a constructive solution to our problem. We would keep our original surnames for undertaking and accept this new last name for our personal lives.
By law, all you need to do to change your reputation is, well, change it. Simply accepting and using your brand-new epithet is enough. Modernizing your accountings and accounts, nonetheless, requires a document of proof such as a union credential or, in our case, a deed poll. There is no official space of acquiring a deed ballot. You can write one yourself expending free templates from the internet, but shortfall of lucidity about the relevant procedures develops in some institutions demanding an original credential despite the fact that no such happen dwells. You can either fight it out or you can do what we did and pay 15 -2 0 for a company such as the Deed Poll Office to draw up the word on your behalf and periodical and stomp it on watermarked newspaper. Passed the roll of bodies and organisations you have to notify and the health risks statements over what constitutes an original certificate, this seemed a reasonable compromise.
Perhaps it was naive, but we didnt expect to meet with resistance. Uncertainty, perhaps. Intrigue, for certain. When it is necessary to getting married, we had trenched almost every institution proceeding, prohibiting the matrimony itself, and no one had wondered us. Surely this too would be seen as a modern updated information on an outdated habit. But where reference is announced our decided not to our families, the reaction was mixed.

While they understood our quagmire, the common refrain was that the child would lose the connection to its family history. Try as I might, I cant know what this is. To me, family history moves far deeper than ones refer. Its in accordance with the rules “were living”, our values, the gumption and shared event passed down through generations. It is part of the storytelling our parents did and its in the legends we, more, will tell and the beliefs we will share.
Our roots are not in our calls, they are in our natures. My grandmother, whose surname was Jones, is important to me not because of her reputation but because of her love. My great-grandmother, a midwife I never even encountered, let alone shared a name with, forms a part of my feel of identity. Why? Because of the road my own mother talks about her, because of the pictures she has painted in my head of that life, that family, that time.
Interestingly, the mention itself has also testified a sticking point, with a few people commenting that its bearing. Youre doing this really unusual thing but youve picked a really ordinary mention, said one colleague, as though by doing something different we are obliged to go the whole hog and announce ourselves Rob and Franki Thundercats.
In fact, the accessibility of the figure was something we reckoned would be used sell the idea. It is about to change “were in” naive there, too. My baby, a former primary school teacher, insisted that someone called Stone would be taunted. Another relative describing him as a dead weight of a name.
In my experience, children will come up with nicknames no matter what. I wasted often of my school years known as Franki Cookie while my first name was regularly elongated to Frankenstein, Frankincense or Frankfurter.
Never tell people your call options in advance, advised one pal( too late ). Its as if telling people in advance is inviting a exchange or consultation!
While my familys notions apparently matter to me, I suspect she might be right. Eventually, this is our decision, based on our requires, and I hope they will come to see it as a practical and positive step , not an irresponsible one.
Its almost impossible to get everyone on board, lawyer another friend, who changed her surname by deed poll in 2004. The project upset my granny but my dad, her son, understood. When I marriage my husband, he took my reputation. Im still not sure two brothers was 100% behind us, but when we had our first son, he was the first to be born into our empire. Im so excited that we are the first in our tree!
This is exactly how I seem. I love the idea that our child will be born into this new, specifically opted and carefully thought-out family name. And if one day he or she decides to change it either to something new or to one of our old-time family name we will fully support that.
Even when you change names, lineage going to be able be traced and, if nothing else, I like to think we will be looked back on as all those people who tried something new; who instead of preparing do with an unsatisfactory place, remembered creatively about how to solve it. Thats a family bequest Im glad with.
