Your drabble about Liam, Fujio, Ryouta, and Ryuu reacting to darling's past joke confessions was AMAZING. You knocked it out of the park!!! Got me giggling and kicking my feet ehe. Continuation with the same bois: Darling and said yandere are enjoying the loving couple life these past few months with the occasional outings and dates ignoring those red flags darling is colourblind. But a challenger approaches! The yanderes' past fling blatantly flirts with them in front of darling.
Before the yandere can intervene, darling squares up. Darling drapes herself on their arm possessively while sweetly threatening extreme violence. Something like "He's spoken for. Fuck off or I'll stab your eye with this pen to make soup, okay~" The pen clicks. The past fling runs/yandere chases them away before things escalate. Darling happily asks the yandere, "Why are you staring, baby?? I belong to you and you belong to me just like you said! I'm responding to your passionate love with all my might!" they've awakened a sleeping beast with this one HELP jashlsjksdfkjbsd. Focusing on the wrong things type of darling.
a/n: IM SO GLAD THAT SO MANY OF YOU LIKED THAT POST SM lmaooo this is like the third ask ive gotten abt it!! ofc kudos to the requester too lol! and i absolutely love love this sequel!
warning: female reader as requested, descriptions of violence
liam arieh ★ profile
"Liammy!"
The arm around your waist tightened considerably as Liam started trying his best to walk faster. He knew taking you around the block for dinner wasn't the best idea and, yet, he'd let your puppy dog eyes win him over.
Now look at where that brought him.
"Liam!" The shrill voice seemed to only get more shrill and, before Liam could consider doing anything else, someone latched onto his free arm "Where you going?"
"I'm with my wife." Liam answered snappily though there was a dark smile on his face as he snatched his arm back. The girl had gripped it hard enough that she left claw marks. Disgusting.
"Wh-Who is this, Liam?" You buried yourself into his side, sweet confused eyes staring up at him.
Liam felt his blood turn cold. He'd dealt a little with your self-confidence (or lack thereof) so he'd hoped that you were better now. He worried that wasn't the case and that you'd mistake this situation for something it really wasn't.
He'd slept around before, yes, but they'd never meant anything. Nobody did until he met you.
Liam quickly opened his mouth, desperately wanting to explain though he tried his best to keep a calm expression on his face. Before he could, though, the stupid girl on his other side spoke up.
"Oh, are you Liam's flavor of the week? I was last month's, you know." She flipped her hair over her shoulder, her voice grating on both Liam's and yours patience. "Though I don't think that'll matter since you won't last long."
Laim felt anger flare in him. His blood practically boiled at her words. He was about to push her aside when you suddenly swept up, pushing her yourself. Hard. Hard enough that she fell and hit her head on the brick wall behind her.
Then, you stepped over, tucking your hair behind your ear almost demurely as you crouched a little over Liam's ex's body "Well, I think you won't last long if I bashed your head into this wall any harder, hmm?"
"Don't touch things that don't belong to you and we won't have a problem." You added as you leaned a bit closer, as if telling her a secret. Then, you straightened and dusted yourself.
Liam had watched every single second of what you'd done and the hot blood in his veins immediately turned from anger to lust. He wrapped his arms around your waist, quickly pulling you to him and pressing a hard kiss against your temple.
"That's my girl."
You just preened in the face of his affection, soft smile on your face "That's right. I'm yours and you're mine."
"So, next time someone comes near you, don't let them." You pouted, huffing a little and crossing your arms.
He just chuckled "Now where'd this demanding angel come from?"
"You told me you love me, right? I'm just returning that love tenfold!" You looked up at him, cheek pressing against his collar and your hands going over his hands
Liam just laughed and thanked whatever higher power was out there that they sent you right to him.
fujio watanabe ★ profile
Ever since the two of you got together, Fujio refused to let you leave his sight. Though you reassured him multiple times that you loved him and wouldn't go anywhere, he still dragged you around.
This time, he'd dragged you to his gym. While he was working out, you were just sitting on a nearby bench, observing the way his glistening muscles seemed to flex and un-flex as he lifted up heavy barbells.
Just as he'd finished his last one, some woman suddenly ran across the whole gym and wrapped her arms around his torso, hugging him tight "Fujio!"
He'd grunted and let the barbell clatter to the ground with a heavy thud. Already, blood seemed to heat in his veins. He didn't like it when people ambushed him from his blind spots.
Momentarily, Fujio imagined what it’d be like to lift the barbell in front of him and wack this woman with it. He doubted you’d like the blood though so, he gritted his teeth and resisted the urge. “Let go of me.”
She at least seemed to realise that he was serious because she let go immediately, a nervous expression on her face “Fujio, baby, what’s wrong?”
“You’re what’s wrong.”
Fujio stiffened at your voice and immediately frowned. Fuck, the last thing he ever wanted was to create a misunderstanding with you that would cause you to slip from his grasp. Though he knew that he’d never really let you leave him, it was better if you stayed of your own volition.
“Who’s this? Your current whore?” The woman—Fujio’s ex, you guessed—eyed you up and down as if trying to assess your threat level. From the infuriating smirk on her face, she seemed to think she had something over you.
Before she could say much more, you swung the kettlebell you’d found at her head. It connected with her temple and she crumpled to the ground, whining and crying. Without hesitation, you dropped the same kettlebell on her chest; it was light enough not to injure her but it definitely pushed all the air out of her lungs.
Then, you squatted next to her, your face especially close to hers as you whispered in her ear “I’m actually his girlfriend and I’d appreciate if you didn’t touch him. Thank you.”
“Or I might have to find a heavier weight to keep you down permanently, you know?” You added, sweet smile on your face.
Before you could stand, arms wrapped around you, lifting you into a bridal carry. You looked up and saw that it was Fujio, a dark expression on his face as he nuzzled his nose into the crook of your neck, teeth already nibbling and nipping.
"Where the fuck did that come from?" He mumbled against your skin, breath hot and grip on you tight as ever.
You just wrapped your arms around his neck and smiled "I'm yours, remember? Just wanted to act like it."
“Why was that so fucking hot? Holy shit. We need to hit the showers like now.”
ryouta watanabe ★ profile
Ryouta really never went out like ever. The only times he really left his apartment were when he needed to grocery shop and when he needed to do some work in person.
Now that you were his girlfriend, that schedule applied to you too.
He was at his computer like always. You were on his bed behind him, playing around with his switch. Though you were extremely concentrated on the game at hand, you couldn't help but be a little soothed by the clack of Ryouta's keyboard.
That was until a discord notification pinged through the speakers. It was soft, almost unnoticeable. But it had interrupted your peaceful time and so you definitely noticed it.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you watched Ryouta’s fists clench and unclench in the dim light of his computer. With quiet moves, you picked up his phone and dialled your birthday. There, you saw what the discord message said.
“Hey, I know you said you weren’t interested but I really like you and I’d like to meet IRL to see if there’s chemistry.” It read. The icon was of a woman who was using some sort of puppy filter.
You scrolled up a little and saw what their conversation was like. At first, it seemed mostly work related. Then, slowly, the woman started getting more and more personal, wanting desperately to get close to Ryouta.
He rebuffed every single advance but, apparently, the woman just thought he was playing hard to get.
You put the phone down and padded over to Ryouta, his too-big shirt slipping off your shoulders. With surprising ease, you slipped right into his lap, face nuzzling into his neck.
“Darling? What’s wrong?” Immediately, his body relaxed as he pressed a soft kiss against your temple, and the tension left, replaced with a sort of softness that he only ever reserved for you.
You didn’t say anything, just brushed his hands off the keyboard.
With a sense of urgency and a seriousness he’d never seen from you before, Ryouta watched as you typed. “Hi, this is his girlfriend. I’m going to block you on his account now and, if I ever find out that you contacted him ever again, I’m going to take a pen and I’m going to slam it straight into your eye socket.”
Then, as if you needed to say anything else, you wrote a second message that said “Have a good day.”
After that, you didn’t block her like you said you would. Instead, you tucked yourself into Ryouta’s arms and wrapped yourself around him, clinging to him almost like a koala. You even buried your face into his collar bone, wanting to be as close to him as possible.
“You’re mine.” You stated stubbornly. "Like I'm yours, right?"
As Ryouta blocked the random woman who meant nothing to him, he couldn’t agree more.
ryuunosuke yamamoto ★ profile
Ever since the two of you got together, Ryuu was literally permanently attached to your hip. It felt like anywhere you went, he also went. Even in the restroom, when you didn't let him join you, he sat outside and sent you memes.
So, it was no wonder that you were inseparable even when he went to work.
He was wiping down the counters and you were sitting behind the register, happy expression on your face as you browsed through your phone.
The bell tinkled as the door to the creamery opened and someone rushed in "Ryuu!"
Ryuu let out a pained groan and immediately stepped away from the counter, wide eyes eyeing the measly little door that kept the general public from the employees.
"Ryuu, I've missed you so much! Where have you been?" The woman leaned forward, trying to get as close to Ryuu as possible without literally vaulting the counter.
Of course, Ryuu leaned away and tried to hide his grimace "Hey, uh, what can I get you?"
"I mean, I want to ask you for my number for the fifth time but I have a feeling you really won't give it to me." She whined a little, pathetic pout playing across her lips.
That's when you looked up, blank expression on your face.
"I'm not on the menu." Ryuu proudly spoke up, trying his best to keep his anger down lest he get reprimanded by the higher ups.
"Though you are the most delicious thing--" Before the woman could continue, Ryuu heard a thunk and the woman screamed loud.
He looked to you who had suddenly gotten beside him. Then he looked down to see that you'd cut the woman's finger off with one of the ice cream scrapers.
"He said he's not on the menu." You'd stated simply, sweet customer service smile clear on your face "Now scram before you lose your whole arm and not just your finger."
She looked to Ryuu with wide eyes as she clutched her profusely bleeding hand to her chest. Instead, Ryuu just laughed like you'd said the funniest joke in the world.
"Don't look at me. Whatever the missus wants, she gets, you know."

literally share the headcanons! dont tease!
HAHAHAHAH but i love teasing!! cant help it!!! okay well the ones im thinking of the most right now are about the characters and the kind of pets they have, animals they like, etc.
Also this ended up super long so.
trigger warning for animal/pet death. O_O
Alex loves all kinds of animals. He thinks they're all really cool and cute and sweet, rodents, dogs cats, reptiles. Mostly, I think he is definitely a cat person, but he also loves dogs. He had Rocky of course, and I don't really have a set breed for her, she's probably just a really mixed up mutt lol. Medium sized somewhat patterned brown dog with big ol sweet puppy eyes. I think during the summer of marble hornets, Rocky ... "ran away".. Alex doesn't know what happened to his sweet puppy, but he's just glad she wasn't one of the animals that turned up dead in his front yard. After he lost Rocky, he really didn't think he would ever have another pet. But because I love my little revival/nobody dies au's, I think as he's slowly recovering alongside the others, he starts getting really into the idea of owning a ferret. He probably saw some cute video of one, and it kinda became a little hyper-fixation since he had no hobbies or interests anymore. He still likes movies, but he doesn't ever want to make one again. He likes writing scripts, but would die before filming anything for it. He has nothing else he likes to do anymore, so he just gets really into ferrets. Ferrets are big thing to take care of, but Alex is very confident he can do it. So he gets one. And I think he is really successful at caring for it. He really loves that thing. And he takes the stupidest little up close pictures of its face. I think he would get the chocolate coloration, or maybe a sable mitt. I also think he would really enjoy owning cats. In the many little au's I have, he's owned several, but in a high school AU, I have him owning two little cats, a tabby boy named Neo and a black kitten girl named Trinity, after the Matrix characters lol. I don't think he ever gets a dog for himself aside from Rocky, though.
Tim also likes animals, but has never really had a pet of his own. When he was a kid, he had a hamster, but killed it during a Masky episode. His parents tried letting him have a dog, but again, during those Masky episodes he would just get too violent with it, and they had to give it away. I think, on that note, about his Masky episodes- when he was an unmedicated kid going in and out of psychiatric hospitals all the time, they would happen when he felt scared or threatened. Which is why later in life, when Alex Kralie attempts to kill him in college, thats the trigger for Masky coming back. I think there was probably a long period of time before that where he had grown out of Masky, and the episodes would have stopped. So, Tim has this sort of idealized dream where he really does want a dog, or honestly any kind of pet, but has told himself he's not allowed to have one. I think at some point, in that same recovery au, he ends up getting a seizure alerting/PTSD and anxiety service dog. I think it's a saint bernhard and german shepherd mix, one of those massive strong saint shepherds. It would be big and strong enough to give Tim good pressure during seizures and not be hurt, and it would actually pose enough of a threat to Masky that he wouldn't be able to hurt it. Just a big sweet gentle giant that adored Tim and isn't scared of Masky. Masky would manage to get past his scary little pet killer instincts and would be obsessed with this dog.
I don't really have anything to say about Jay or Brian, BUT I do have a lot to say about mr side background character Seth Wilson. Hes so real to me.
So much of this is based off of @drowsybugs portrayel of him in our shared AU's lol, but basically I feel like Seth has really severe asthma, and so he's got a service dog for that. And Seth isn't exactly very good at naming things, so his dog (you brought your dog) is just named. Seth Jr. Seth Jr is a sweet little chocolate lab, just adorable and so friendly. I adore this puppy. I love him.
But yes. This is what lives in my brain ty for asking

MERLIN’S APPRENTICE & MERLIN’S CHAMPION || trollhunters
warnings: swearing
a/n: if rott gave me anything it gave me this idea
I KNOW I SAID “JUICY” BUT REALLY THAT WAS JUST THE ANGST POTENTIAL,, THAT IM NOT INDULGING IN THIS POST IM SORRY LMAO
OKAY WHAT IM REALLY TALKING BOUT HERE IS A GOOD MERLIN/ARTHUR BUT IT ACTUALLY WORKS
no sorry i haven’t seen bbc merlin don’t come for me i’m ignorant
OKAY SO
we know douxie kept an eye on the human trollhunter and co
but douxie’s really having a hard time convincing himself he’s just doing his job
he’s actually enjoying this a little too much despite how boring staying in the shadows is
and he’s kinda worried?
so he’s got this bright idea: you know what would better help him keeps tabs? if he befriends this person
and so he does
fuck merlin’s shadows
sod the rules
ofc he’s very up front about knowing they’re the trollhunter and that he’s merlin’s apprentice
we wouldn’t want that to become a huge festering secret that eats douxie from the inside out until the inevitable reveal when merlin calls them both to help with the arcane order and they realize they’ve both been lying to each other’s faces for months/years and neither of them know if they could ever trust the other again, right? — phew *catches breath*
but before you know it, mr. casperan and mx. trollhunter are best friends
he’s basically the toby to your jim
and you’re very happy to have a best friend like douxie
he understands that monster hunting hustle
he’s the only person you can vent to and actually talk about what’s going on without sounding like a loon
and douxie likes being able to tell someone all his frustrations with merlin, since you’re also in that boat with him
you spar sometimes. it’s fun, but you’re very careful not to accidentally hurt your friend (he’s extremely careful not to hurt you or wound your ego by effortlessly wiping you out)
ofc, there’s the occasional, brushing of hands, faces a little too close together, accidentally winding up on top of one another, purposefully winding up on top of one another 👀 you know how sparring be
you and douxie are a duo. a duo who have become trollmarket’s resident troublemakers, to vendel’s exasperation
you guys tease each other a lot
you do a lot of stupid shit, cause hey, now you have magic armor and a magic sword and a magic best friend, did you think you wouldn’t get up to some shenanigans?
douxie is your impulse control and he’s not a very good one, as he’s just as bad
truthfully archie has the brain cell
and pranks? gods the pranks. you two are always either pranking each other or you’re teaming up to prank some other troll who said smth mean to you in the pub. vendel had to personally put a stop to it (read: chew you out)
doux thinks the world of you tho, you’re such a noble knight, and likes to tell people about how you’re a cinnamon roll, so innocent, so pure
and then they meet you and you directly contradict those statements
trollhunter: i’ve never done anything wrong in my life, ever
douxie: i know this and i love you
(spoiler: you’ve done lots and lots of wrong)
doux spends an awful lot of time slinking around trollmarket now, and he’s in the know for everything that’s happening
(no more being kept in the dark for this wizard apprentice)
and doux knows merlin won’t completely approve of this, but hey, it’s not like he’s helping and thus directly disobeying
really, he’s not helping you at all, it’s really fucking annoying
okay so mayyybe the occasional healing spell. you’ve got those puppy dog eyes he can’t say no to
but you understand his sense of duty, or whatever it is that drives a follower, technically being a follower of merlin yourself
you respect the old geezer (as you have not been turned into a half-troll yet) as a wise mythical figure, and as your best friend’s father
and what a perfect match you are for each other, champion and apprentice, mutually being screwed over by a guy you both think has all the answers
you and douxie help each other grow in your self-worths, that you two are more than the chances merlin has given to you
unfortunately, mortifyingly, you have caught feelings.
douxie has also caught feelings, and is saying nothing yep you have enough on your plate without him putting this on you so he’ll just quietly pine and suffer don’t mind him choking to death in the corner when you take off your helmet and throw back your hair
y’all’s problem really starts manifesting itself as protectiveness. you are really protective of your wizard and he is really protective of his knight
lots of things said that are Not What Friends Say but neither of you really want to be the one to point that out
lots and lots of i love yous that slowly get more and more serious until it’s not exactly platonic anymore
and it’s just really nice to have someone to get coffee (or your favored hot drink) with at four in the morning after a tussle with a troll
and that’s basically how you and douxie spend the bulk of trollhunters, just vibing
as much as you can vibe, with all the changelings and shit trying to murder you all the time
then merlin wakes up and shakes up your world
you are aware of your impending doom
you’re aware of it
merlin keeps looking you up and down like he’s mentally making up the measurements of your coffin
and tbh the idea of fighting gunmar freaks you tf out
and you’re supposed to win that fight?
gods
you’re preparing for your nightmares coming true soon
truthfully you knew your fucking job had a 100% mortality rate
you don’t want to die with regrets
so
you spill
you spill all the things you’d wanted to tell him and how much he means to you and that you couldn’t bear it if you were a goner before he knew
miraculously, douxie feels the same and tells you all the things he’d been holding back and and what you mean to him and how much he wants to protect you, that you’re gonna make it, if he had anything to say about it
and everything is perfect for one night
now you have a real reason to win
not that saving humanity isn’t a big responsibility on your shoulders and definitely A Reason
but knowing douxie’s waiting for you, for the life you’ll build together after this, the peace you’ll both have, it’s absolutely a big motivation to give your all and come out victorious and survive
hahaha loser you don’t know about the arcane order
and then merlin uses your microwave to cook a weird potion
you and merlin are alone in the house, but there’s no real mind games necessary. you may have grown past thinking he was a god, but in the end, you’re still a follower of merlin, and if merlin thinks this could give you an edge, well, who are you to question his methods
doesn’t mean you aren’t nervous as your master hands you the bottle
yet you don’t even hesitate to drown yourself in the black abyss of the tub
whatever it takes amirite?
and now you’re a half-troll
a sexy half-troll, if you do say so yourself
yeah, no ‘i’m a monster’ angst here, you’re loving the power-up
you’ve got to treat it like a cool new power-up or you will cry actually tbh i lied about the no-angst thing a new body is disorienting
your only real concern is douxie
not concerned for long tho, he sees you and the first thing out of his mouth is “nuclear!”
and he senses your concern, so he does go out of his way to assure you that boy, girl, enby, or half-troll, he loves you for your soul, darling
also again half-troll! you is hot as hell so he’s not really losing anything here 👀
he makes sure you know that too, not to let any insecurities fester
him raking his eyes up and down you gives the opposite effect of the dread merlin sent down your spine doing it
anyways,,,
doux helps out a lot more in the eternal night
like helps merlin re-defeat and re-seal morgana
he’ll do it again in few weeks but with a bigger role you know, this is practice
thank merlin for that edge YOU ARE THE LAST TROLLHUNTER YOU ARE VICTORIOUS YOUVE GOT GUNMARS HEAD IN YOUR HANDS HAHAHA
but now you’ve got to go to new jersey
douxie’s been instructed to stay in arcadia tho 🥺
it’s okay, you’ll see each other again soon
sooner than you realize
and until then you talk each other to sleep every night over the phone <3
merlins glad, actually. he’s glad hisirdoux found some solace. even if it is with the lamb he was raising for the slaughter. maybe things will go okay for them. the time map suggests it might be so
hisirdoux may have done things in a way he didn’t quite approve of, but that’s because he’s becoming his own wizard, and merlin is proud
#okay okay i’m done#see you in wizards#douxie x reader#hisirdoux casperan x reader#tales of arcadia x reader#tales of arcadia imagine#douxie imagine#hisirdoux casperan imagine#hisirdoux casperan#douxie#douxie casperan x reader#tales of arcadia#my writing

*gif isn't mine* (ugh hes so fine im dying)
I sat up straight and gasped, my eyes flying right open. I looked around frantically, sharp pain shooting right through my chest.
“Ow,” I whined, pressing my hand gently to my side.
“Oh, yeah. The first time you die here, it’ll hurt. I bet it’s not any different from what that ring does for you, though,” Kai’s voice ringed next to me.
My head snapped to him, memories of what he did to me flooding back.
“Get away from me!” I shouted, getting up out of the bed I was in.
“I did you a favour, Y/n. You should thank me!” He exclaimed.
“What favour! You robbed me of my only chance of getting home. Now we have no magic and the ascendent is broken!”
“Stop shouting. Ugh, you’re giving me a headache,” he whined.
I gave him a death glare. “You’re the one with the headache. You’re the one- I just… I’m going for a walk.”
I stomped out of the room, running down the stairs. I heard Kai’s footsteps from behind me. I walked as fast as I could without feeling any pain. Kai seemed to be full on sprinting, though, because he grabbed my wrist.
“Let me go!” I exclaimed. “Please, Y/n. I’m sorry,” Kai pleaded.
I jerked my body away from him. “Shove it, Malachai. If you want me to forgive you, then you better leave me alone right now.”
He looked at me with wide, fearful eyes. I didn’t wait for him to say anything. I turned on my heel and made my way out of the house and back to the woods. I stomped the whole way there, my hands balled in tight fists. My fingernails dug into my skin as tears stained my cheeks. I just could not believe Kai. I knew he was a sociopath and a dick, but I didn’t think he would try to rob me of my chance at happiness. It was stupid how I thought he would even think about someone else and not himself. Sometimes he made it seem like he did care, though. It also seemed as my attraction to him from the first time we met was still there. I needed to get rid of it. I needed to find a way to get out here. Without Kai.
I stopped walking as I realised I was deep in the woods. The cool breeze flew around me, calming me down. I closed my eyes and breathed out the air that I had been holding in. I opened my eyes to stare at the sky. It was a cloudless afternoon with bright sunshine. It was always like this. For the past few months this was all I had seen. I was more than sick of it. I wanted rain. Snow. Hail. Anything else but the sunshine for once.
I released my hands from their fists, reaching my right hand up to my side where Bonnie’s jacket still was. I let out a strangled, but happy sound. I unwrapped it from my body, seeing that it had a huge red blood spot that was mine. I ignored it and held it up to my face, hugging it closely to my chest.
“I’m getting out of here. I’m going home,” I promised to myself.
I stayed in the woods until the sun started to set. I spent my time walking around some more, making up a plan. I knew how the ascendent looked before it was broken, and I was sure that Bonnie’s grimoire, that was thankfully still here, had a diagram of some sort, too. I could just build it back up. I took a shop class in high school and used to build cars with my dad, so I was quite the mechanic. Getting it to work without magic was the hard part, though. I needed a Bennett witch to access the spell. I knew Kai still had some of Bonnie’s magic in him, but I couldn’t risk telling him the plan and having it work, only for him to leave me here again. Plus, it’s not like having him use Bonnie’s magic would actually work. He wasn't actually a Bennett. He just happened to have her magic in him.
I opened the door and stepped into the Salvatore house, looking around for Kai. I smiled, relieved that I couldn’t spot him anywhere. I shut the door behind me, kicking off my shoes and going to the liquor cabinet, popping off the top of a bottle of whiskey. I didn’t bother with a cup, I just downed it straight. The liquor burned my throat as I strutted to the kitchen, going over to the CD player and putting on Toni Braxton’s ‘Another Sad Love Song’.
I danced around and got out the ingredients for a strawberry cake. As Toni’s song came to an end, I heard the front door open. I groaned loudly, my mood dropping immediately. I left the kitchen to see what Kai was up to. I laughed incredulously as I saw him carrying multiple duffle bags and a backpack.
“Are you seriously moving in?” I asked.
“Yep,” he nodded. “What part of ‘leave me alone’ do you not understand? Do I need to spell it out for you so it can get through your thick skull?” I snapped, taking ahold of his arm and dragging him back to the front door.
“I understand!” He exclaimed. “Good. Then you’ll get out,” I sneered, pushing him out the door. I went to shut it, but his arm held the door open.
“I will smash your hand in this door,” I threatened.
“Yeah, I know, but hear me out. I can help you get back,” Kai said.
I scoffed, “I don’t want nor need your help. Get out.” I pushed the door further in his face. He dropped his bags and used both hands to keep it open.
“I know you don’t trust me and you have no reason to, but please. I still have Bonnie’s magic in me and I can fix the ascendent with her magic,” he begged. He pouted and put on his puppy dog face.
“No,” I said without any hesitation. “You get out of my life, okay? If I ever see you, hear you, or even smell you, you’re dead, okay?”
His eyes then filled with anger and frustration. “Fine!” He exclaimed. “You know, I only even wanted to help you because I want to get out of here. We both know that I would have only left you here alone.”
“Glad we’re on the same page, then,” I smiled sourly. “See you never.” And with that, I slammed the door in his face.
I sighed deeply, smiling in satisfaction. I went back to the kitchen and resumed my cake making.
A few hours later and I was finishing the last pieces of cake, and watching Forrest Gump.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, huh,” I muttered. “First I’m a regular girl with human friends and a family. And now I’m a girl who who has no family, vampires, werewolves, and witches for friends, and who is stuck in a never-ending prison world!”
I rolled my head around the couch ledge, my eyes looking out the window. It was pitch black now. The stars were shining brightly, many of them twinkling.
“Mom, Dad, Jenny, Andrew. Bonnie and Damon. If you’re out there, please help me. Send someone or something. I-I can’t do this alone, and I definitely don’t want Kai’s help. Please help me,” I cried out. I hugged a couch pillow and Bonnie’s jacket.
I hope someone could hear me up there. Otherwise I was screwed.
————
3 months later and I was still stuck in this hell-hole. Well, at least I think it had been 3 months. Ever since Kai kept me here, I had been counting the days. It had been approximately 90 days, give or take. I was beginning to think this was actually my own personal instead of Kai’s.
Speaking of Kai, he actually had been pretty good of avoiding me. In these 90 days, I have only ran into him twice. Once was while I was going for a morning jog and the other was when I was venturing into town, walking to the Mystic Grill and all the shops. During my stay, I have also been documenting my days with an old video camera I found. I knew that I would get out, but just in case, I would be able to have all those memories saved and if I died somehow and never came back and someone else got trapped here, they could see the glamorous life of Y/n L/n. Or what was left of it at least.
Today was going to be different, though. For the past few months, I had been sitting in my bedroom for most of the week, crying, talking to myself, screaming at the world. I had even considered killing myself once or twice, but I knew that I would only wake up in more pain and sadness. Every day I prayed and hoped for someone to come and find me. For my friends to find out a way to get to me, even though they didn’t have the ascendent or anything. It seems as more days past, the less and less hopeful I got, though. So, I decided that the only way I was getting out of here was to do it myself, regardless if I wasn’t a magical being.
And so right now, I was trying to build the ascendent. I was almost there, actually. It was just these little parts that were so frustrating to put back together.
“Go together, dammit!” I exclaimed out of frustration.
I put the device down, running my hands over my face, thinking of a solution. Maybe I should ask Kai for help.
No. That would only end up with me screaming at him the whole time and potentially killing him.
But he probably still had some go Bonnie’s magic left. He could help me get out. And plus, I could just push him away last minute when we go through the portal.
I groaned out of annoyance. I didn’t know what the right answer was. I thought I did. I thought I could do this by myself. But it turns out I can’t. It’s a lot harder than I thought and the fact that I’m a human doesn’t help either. I bit my lip in thought, racking my brain for an answer.
“You have to ask him to help, Y/n. It’s the only way,” I sighed to myself.
I got up from my seat and put on my shoes and jacket. I went out of the house and got into Damon’s Chevy, driving it to Kai’s house. I clenched the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white as I parked in his driveway. Just the thought of seeing him made my stomach churn. Thing was, I didn’t quite know if it churned in a good way or bad.
I stepped out of the car, putting the keys in my jacket pocket. I walked up to the door and gave it a good 3 knocks. A waited a few minutes, but no answer. I knocked a few more times and waited another few minutes. Still no answer.
“Seriously?!” I whined, raising my hand to pound on the door, but Kai’s voice stopped me.
“What are you doing here?”
I turned around and saw him carrying grocery bags.
“Oh. Good, you’re here,” I said, stepping down from his porch.
“You never answered my question. What are you doing here?” He asked.
“I need your help,” I confessed.
His lips upturned into a smile. He let out a laugh. “Wow. Princess Y/n has gotten over her pride, huh?”
“And sociopathic Parker still harasses me with nicknames, huh?”
Kai frowned and walked up to the porch, passing by me and unlocking his house.
“Sorry,” I sighed, following him into his house. “Will you please help me?”
“Hm, let me think about it,” he said, setting the grocery bags down. “No.”
I rolled my eyes. “C’mon! You barely thought about it. Why not?”
“Because I hate you,” he shrugged. “Why? What have I done to you?” I scoffed.
“Well, first of all you slammed a door in my face. Second, whenever we run into each other, you act like I murdered your whole family. And third, you denied my help before, but now you want it? I think not,” he explained.
“Look, I’m sorry. I really, really am, but I know for a fact that you want to get out. I want to, too! But I’ve learned that we can’t get out without each other. I’m sorry I let my pride take over me. So please help me,” I begged and apologised.
Kai grinned at me. “I love this.” “Love what?” I asked.
“I love seeing you beg,” he said, his voice dropping low. He started to walk towards me slowly. Stalking me like I was his prey.
I backed away from him, my eyes trained on him. I let out a huff as my back hit a wall. My eyes widened and stared into his menacing eyes.
“I love seeing you beg for me. Begging for my help like the helpless little human you are,” he muttered.
He arms went around your sides, trapping in-between him and the wall. I breathed out heavily and shakily, averting my eyes.
“I’m not helpless,” I protested. He smirked down at him, his eyes lighting up. “You sure about that, princess?”
The way he stressed my pet name set my fire to my heart, and set my stomach flipping. He head hung low. So low that I could fell his breath on my lips. I felt his knee nudge my thigh and that’s when I stopped breathing. I could fell myself slowly melting into a puddle right in front of him.
“You gonna answer me, sweetheart, or are you just gonna stand there gawking at me?” He chuckled.
I swallowed hard. “N-No.”
“Then answer me,” he teased me. “Y-Yeah… I’m sure about that,” I whispered.
He hummed in reply. I let my eyes roam his face and set on his lips.
“Offer is still there,” he said. “What offer?” I asked.
“The offer to kiss me. Remember when I offered when we first met?”
“O-Oh, yeah,” I stuttered, beginning to catch my breath
“The offer’s still there if you wanna take it.” My eyes flickered back up to his. I shook my head furiously. “I-I don’t want to take it.”
“Oh, I think you do,” he grinned.
I then snapped out of my daze, putting my hand on shoulders and pushing back. “I said no.”
“Alright, alright,” he held his hand up in defense, backing further away from me.
“Now you’ve had your fun, will you help me?” I asked, running my fingers through my hair.
“I guess so,” he shrugged. My eyes lit up, “Really? Oh, my God! Yes!”
I jumped up and went to hug him, wrapping my arms around him. I engulfed him tightly, entangling my fingers in his hair. It was surprisingly soft.
“This feels nice,” Kai sighed.
I groaned, “Okay. Moment ruined.” I pulled away, stepping back a good few feet.
“You hugged me first,” he shrugged. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. Alright, so when do you want to get started?” I asked.
“After dinner,” he answered. “But it’s 2 pm,” I said.
“I know. But how about you and me have dinner together,” Kai explained.
“I thought you hated me?” I asked. “Oh, I do. I definitely do. That’s why I want to have dinner with you. I know just how to push your buttons. You’re so cute when mad,” he grinned.
I growled at him. “And you are so annoying.” “See! So cute,” Kai scrunched his nose.
“I bet it’ll be cute when I give you a black eye,” I muttered.
“It'd like to see you try. Anyways, if you want my help, then you’ll come to dinner with me,” Kai shrugged.
I sighed, “Fine. What time? What do I need to cook?”
“7 PM. And nope, I’ll cook.”
“O-Oh, really? You cook?”
“Yep,” he grinned proudly.
“Hm… Well, good to know. Anyways, I’ll be here at 7,” I said, making my way towards the door.
“Make sure to dress up! This is gonna be fancy!” Kai called out.
“Noted!” I exclaimed, stepping out of the house. I shut the door behind me, exhaling heavily. “Now you got a date with the town’s psycho, Y/n. Good going.”
I strutted over to the car, getting in and driving back to my place. I read a few books to pass the time until I had to get ready. I got done with Twilight: Eclipse, as I actually had already started that the other day, and I went ahead and started to read more into Bonnie’s grams’s grimoire.
It was all so fascinating, really. I was so amazed by just the spells themselves, I didn’t even consider the history of all of them. While reading the grimoire, I started to feel a little jealous of the fact that Bonnie’s a witch, and the fact that I’m a human with a ring that keeps me alive whenever I got killed. I almost started to feel jealous of Damon and Tyler, but I knew that I never would want to be a monster. Being a witch would seem nice, though. Not like Kai, though.
After a little heavy reading, I checked the clock. It was 5:49, which meant that I had to start getting ready. I put a bookmark in place in the grimoire and got up off the couch, heading up the stairs. I turned on the shower and got undressed.
I took off my sweatpants and socks, followed by my shirt. As I reached for my shirt overhead, the front of it brushed my nose. An unfamiliar, but calming scent filled my nose. I slipped the rest of the shirt off, turning it back right side out and held it up to my nose. I closed my eyes and breathed the scent in. It smelled like mint, paper of old books, and a little like grape jam. As soon as the grape jam smell came to me, I immediately knew who this scent belonged to.
“Ew!” I shrieked and threw the shirt across the room. It landed in the laundry basket, luckily enough. I let out a gagging noise, taking off my underwear and getting in the shower quickly.
I took my time washing up. Taking a shower seemed to be the only place I could really let go and bask in the quiet and loneliness that was in this house. It was strange because it was always quiet and lonely in this house. This was my only time to truly relax since I was doing everything to keep my busy during the day, so I wouldn’t start crying and throwing a fit about still being here.
I lathered my body with shampoo, giving myself a little massage on my shoulders. I closed my eyes and started to imagine what life would be like if I wasn’t stuck in 1994.
I would be with my friends, obviously. We would be at Whitmore, trying to live a normal life. Caroline, Elena, Bonnie and I would be having a picnic on campus. Sipping iced teas and eating sometime of desert. Damon would probably be with us, considering that Elena can’t be without Damon for more than 10 minutes without dying - literally. Stefan would most definitely be there. He’s my best friend, so of course he would be there. He would be talking to Caroline, though, her hogging all of his attention because she likes him (though she always denied it). And maybe Jeremy would be there, too, for Bonnie. Holding her hand and cuddling up next to her like the cute couple they are. And me? Well, I didn’t really have anybody special in my life. I actually had a thing with Kol Mikaelson before he died. I liked Tyler briefly in high school, but I’m 100% sure he’s into the girl that works at the coffee shop at Whitmore. Matt wasn’t my type at all. Neither was Enzo. Maybe I had a cute boy a Whitmore on my arm. A classmate that I had invited to the picnic. Someone cute, smart, funny… a little crazy. Maybe… Maybe Kai.
My eyes snapped open as I became aware that Kai was now in my fantasy. I couldn’t help but shudder, even with the hot water running on my skin. I washed the rest of my body, focusing on anything else but Kai. I turned off the water, wrapping a towel around me. I dried my skin off as I walked to the sink, putting on lotion and re-brushing my teeth. I stepped back into my bedroom and put on a nude-coloured underwear set. It was simple and very, very comfortable. I then went over to my closet, looking for an outfit to wear. I shuffled through all my shirts, not being able to find one that I liked. I sighed in slight frustration, stepping back to try and see if anything stuck out to me.
A little, annoying voice - that sounded much like my mother’s - sounded in the back of my head.
Maybe you can’t decide on an outfit because you like him and want to look nice for him.
I scoffed loudly, shaking my head. “No. I definitely do not care. That’s why I’m just gong to wear this.” I reached into my closet and pulled out a simple dark-turquoise dress. It was spaghetti-strapped and plunged a little bit at the neckline. It reached down just above my knees. Perfect for dinner with an… associate.
I slipped it on and back to the bathroom and did my hair, putting it in one of my favourite hairstyles. I then got out some makeup products. I put on a light coat of foundation and concealer, curling my eyelashes and brushing them up with mascara. I then shaped my eyebrows and filled in the sparce parts, dusting on some blush and putting on chapstick. I looked in the mirror, stepping back to look at my appearance. I cringed as it looked like I was going on a date. I shook those thoughts out of my head. I wasn’t dressing up for him, I was dressing up for myself. There’s no shame in wanting to look nice for yourself.
I went back into the bedroom and found a pair of black heels. I slipped them on, going over to the dresser and putting on a few gold bracelets and a pair of earrings. I re-adjusted my necklace that I was already wearing. I looked at my reflection and smiled. For once, I felt and looked good. I grabbed a black jacket and walked out of my room, checking the time once again. I had 10 minutes to get his house, which was perfect.
I went out of the house and to the Chevy, driving to Kai’s house. I parked in the driveway, my heart beginning to race. I let out a few deep breaths and go out of the car. As soon as I was about to knock, the door swung wide open.
The door revealed Kai who was wearing a white button-up shirt and dark-blue slacks. He actually looked… nice, for once. My eyes traveled around his chest. I couldn’t help but notice the way his biceps strained against his shirt. I could literally see his abs through the shirt, too. It did not help butterflies that were starting to flutter in my stomach.
“Like what you see?” He smirked.
My eyes flew up to his face, taking a deep breath to calm myself down from all the excitement I was feeling.
“No,” I said flatly, going into the house and brushing past Kai.
“Well, you look nice,” he said as I walked into his kitchen.
“Thanks. You do, too,” I complimented genuinely.
“I’ve never seen you in a dress before. You should wear them more often.”
“I don’t like dresses.”
“But you like me. That’s why you wore one to our date?”
I balled my hands in fists, turning around to face him. “One, this is not a date. And two, girls can wear dresses for themselves, not for men like you.”
Kai grinned widely at me. I realised I had fallen into his trap. He was trying to push my buttons and so far, he's been successful. I couldn't let him win, though. I had to calm down and get through this night. Otherwise I would probably never be getting out.
“Your temper is almost as bad as Damon’s,” Kai remarked.
I sighed, “Well you’re not making it easy to stay calm.”
“I know,” he chuckled, walking past me and to the dinner table. “I hope you like ravioli and mushrooms.”
“Did you make these or buy them?” I asked, walking towards the kitchen table.
“Made them. The Salvatores have lots of cook books. I might have stole them before you came,” he explained.
"Well, it smells great,” I admitted, beginning to take off my jacket.
“Glad you think so. Here, let me get this for you,” he slid over to me and took the jacket off my shoulders. He folded it and put it on the ledge of his couch.
“Thanks,” I said. He then pulled my chair out for me. I sat down, thanking him this time with a smile.
“Wine?” He asked, bringing a bottle over. “Yeah, sure,” I nodded.
He poured two glasses and placed one in front of me. He sat down and took a knife and fork.
“Dig in,” he offered. “This isn’t filled with like, cyanide, right?” I asked half-jokingly.
“Ha-ha. No. I worked really hard on these,” he said.
“Hm,” I hummed. I cut one of the raviolis in half and popped on in my mouth. My eyes widened as it tasted a lot better than I expected.
“Good, right?” Kai smiled.
“Very,” I nodded once I swallowed.
We ate in silence for a few moments. I was itching to talk to him about getting home. I took a long sip of wine before beginning to take.
“So um…. I’ve started to re-build the ascendent. It’s a lot harder than it looks, but I’m really close. I just have-”
“No,” Kai said suddenly. I furrowed my brows, “What?” “No, we aren’t going to talk about that just yet. I want to get to know you,” he explained.
I rolled my eyes. “Why? All you need to know is my name and that I hate living here.”
He chuckled, “Not true. I have trust issues. So before I get involved with you, I need to know I can trust you. See, I didn’t trust Damon or Bonnie. I knew that they hated me from the second they met me. I knew that no matter what I would do, they would never give in to trusting me. You, however, you are so trusting. Didn’t you find it creepy that I, a strange man whom you met in a parking lot, offered you a ride?”
“Oh. I-I mean, I guess? But I needed a ride, anyways,” I said.
He shook his head with a smile. “No. Not a good enough reason. Any reasonable woman would have run away from me. You, though… You saw something good in me, didn’t you? You thought I was nice and cute. Maybe a little too forthcoming, but still you put some trust in me. And if you can trust me, maybe I can learn to trust you.”
“Is that why you didn’t let me go with them?” I asked, suddenly connecting the dots.
“Part of the reason. I knew that I had no chance of getting home with Damon and Bonnie. But with you, I knew that I had a chance. Even though you are just a human.” “I am more than that,” I argued.
“And I’m sure you are! But you see, I don’t know that for sure because I don’t know anything about you. See what I’m getting at here?” “Yeah, I see,” I grumbled. “Great! So let’s start with the first question. Why do you always wear that necklace?” He pointed to my neck.
“It was a gift,” I explained shortly, hoping he would notice the edge in my voice.
“From who?” He asked, the corners of his lips upturning in a smirk.
Of course he noticed. He just wasn’t going to stop.
“Family member.” “C’mon, you gotta give me more. I can’t help you if I don't trust you.” I slammed my fork down on the table. “So? There’s a lot of people in the world that you don’t trust fully, but sometimes you just have to help them! Like in school, you may not trust one of your classmates personally, but if they ask you for help on a math problem, you would help them, right? And plus, I don’t trust you. I never did, for the record. I just really want to get out of this place, which now I am believing is my personal hell, not your’s, but I can’t do that without you!”
Kai took a bite of his ravioli, taking his sweet time to chew and swallow. I clenched my knife, tempted to throw it into his carotid.
“Watch your temper, princess. If you keep yelling at me, then I definitely won’t help you.” I closed my eyes and breathed in slowly, trying to calm myself down. “Fine. Sorry. I just don’t want to answer the questions about my necklace.”
“Oh, I know. That’s why I’m asking,” he grinned.
I rolled my eyes, settling back in my seat. “Please, don’t. It’s really personal.”
“You know, I killed my family. It can’t get any worse than that,” he shrugged.
“Yeah, well, this is worse to me,” I muttered. “What? Did you kill your whole family, too? Man, I didn’t know we were so similar,” he chuckled.
“No. They got murdered right in front of me,” I whispered out. Tears prickled the corners of my eyes. I lowered my gaze to my almost-empty plate. Thick, uncomfortable silence filled the room. I tried to fight the tears that threatened to fall, but as memories came back, I could no longer hold them off.
“I-I’m gonna go. Thanks for dinner, Kai.” My voice was hoarse as I spoke. I swallowed hardly, trying to clear my throat, but it felt like shards of glass were rubbing the sides of it.
I went to grab my jacket and wrapped it around me, reaching out for the doorknob, but Kai pulled me back. He wrapped his fingers around my wrist gently, but firmly. He tugged me back slightly, enough for me to turn around and look him in the eyes. The expression on his face was something that I had never seen on him before. He looked regretful, guilty; full of remorse. For once I didn’t feel annoyed or scared of him.
“I’m sorry that happened to you,” he spoke softly, his blue eyes boring into my e/c eyes.
“I-It’s alright. It’s not your fault,” I sniffled. “No… I-I should have known this was too personal for you to want to share,” he admitted.
“Yeah, well, I know how much you like to push my buttons,” I chuckled.
“I do. I admit that. But I really do want to get to know you.” I narrowed eyes at him, crossing my arms around my chest and leaning back in my chair. “Why?”
“Because I… I think you’re interesting. When I was watching you and your friends, I was able to discover things. Things about Bonnie and Damon. But you… I couldn’t figure out a thing about you. You talk a lot to Damon, and I know you’re really close with Bonnie, but you’re still so private. I’m such an open person, so it was weird for me to see you be so closed-off, but outgoing at the same time,” he explained, his cheeks glowing pink as soon as he finished.
I couldn’t believe what I had heard him say. He was finally saying nice things about me in a sincere tone. I couldn’t help but smile and softened up. “Really?”
“Yeah,” He shrugged sheepishly. “Hm,” I buzzed.
“So, will you stay and we can get to know each other? I promise I won’t ask you about your family anymore,” he said.
I stared at him intensely. As much as I wanted to say no, every fiber in my body was screaming yes.
“Alright, sure. I’ll stay,” I nodded. I knew that if I said no, he probably wouldn't help me get back home, but I was actually looking forward to staying. It seemed as though my feelings for him were developing a lot quicker and stronger than I thought they ever would.
A bright smile lit up his face immediately. “Great! Do you want to continue eating? I have some ice cream, too, if you want.”
“Ice cream sounds good,” I answered. He nodded and let go of my wrist, walking to his freezer.
I felt alone and cold all of the sudden. I felt myself start to miss his hand on me, holding my arm. His skin was so warm and surprisingly soft. I wanted him to touch me all over.
“Take a seat on the couch.” His voice broke me out of my dirty thoughts.
I shrugged away the thoughts and made my way to the sofa, taking a seat and making myself comfortable.
“Do you want a blanket of anything?” He asked, setting down two bowls.
“I’m good for now, thanks,” I said, reaching her to grab a bowl. “F/f?” I asked.
“Yeah. This one of the few things I found out about you,” he smiled sheepishly, taking his bowl and sitting down next to you.
“Indeed I do. I assume you do, too?” I guessed. “Yep,” he nodded. “Hm. So, what do you want to know about me?” I asked.
“What’s your favourite colour?”
“F/c.” “Do you have any pets back at home?” He asked.
“I had a cat a few years ago. She died, though.” “Oh, I’m sorry,” he frowned. “It's alright. She was 20, so she was bound to die soon,” I shrugged.
He nodded. “What’s life like back at home?”
I took a bite of ice cream, thinking for a few moments. “Fun. Busy, but really happy and colourful.”
“Are you in college?” He asked. “Yeah. Second year,” I answered. “What’re you studying?”
“I’m majoring in human studies and minoring in art and design.” “Sounds fun.”
“It is. And a little stressful,” I chuckled. He laughed with me, looking away from me for a moment and then looking back.
“Do you have a boyfriend, or girlfriend, back at home?” He asked.
“Nope. I’ve been single for a good couple years,” I said.
“You? Single? I find that hard to believe,” he snorted. “Why?” I asked, my heart fluttering just thinking about his answer.
Kai smiled softly at me. “Well, for starters, you’re beautiful. You’re strong and confident. You know what you want and have no issue in fighting for it. You’re a little hot-headed, but I find it attractive. You’re very smart; I see you reading almost everyday. You’re determined and dream big. I can tell you really care about your friends and family, despite how much you and Damon bickered. You’re like a girl in a novel or movie that other girls want to be.”
My whole face went warm at his explanation. My lips were upturned into the most cheek-aching smile, too.
“And you said it was hard to find things out about me,” I giggled, nudging his foot with mine.
“Well, I couldn’t find out personal things about you. That's all just from observation,” he shrugged, not seeming to be embarrassed.
I nodded, “Well, now you know a few personal things about me.”
“That I do.” “I…. I thought you liked Bonnie, too,” I spoke my thoughts out loud.
“She’s beautiful, too. She’s also incredibly smart and intuitive. She’s very strong and nice. But you’re the one that really caught my eye.”
“Oh,” I smiled impossibly wider. “Well, good to know.” “Yep,” he popped the ‘p’. I couldn't help but notice how his gaze dropped down to my upper chest, where my necklace sat.
“They died one and a half years ago,” I started.
His eyes flew up to mine. “You don’t have to-”
“No, no. It’s alright. Um… so it was at night. Everyone else was at the house, but I had snuck out to go to a party hosted by Caroline. At this time, I was involved with a vampire named Kol. He convinced me to go out. I knew it was wrong and I was going to get in trouble. I was what some would call a goody-two shoes. Anyways, I stayed out until like, 2 in the morning. I was getting tipsy and tired. So, Stefan, Damon’s brother, drove me home. When I first arrived at my house, it looked completely normal. It was quiet and peaceful. It wasn’t until I walked into my house when I knew something was wrong. There were lights on upstairs. It felt so tense, too. I could literally feel how tense and thick the air was.” I stared down at my ice cream for multiple minutes, blinking rapidly as tears fell.
“I went upstairs and that’s when I saw him. He was tall and wearing a ski-mask, like he was trying to rob us. I guess he had other things he wanted to do, too. He didn’t see me at first, though. It wasn’t until he shot my dad when I started to cry and that’s when he noticed me. I ran away though and into my sibling’s room. I saw that they were still were asleep and safe. So I did the first thing I thought was sensible. I called Stefan. I explained to him that someone had murdered my dad. And as I called him, I heard my mom scream,” I shuddered as her scream ringed in my ears.
“That’s when I heard the door being kicked open downstairs and I knew that Stefan was there. He had brought Caroline and Damon, too, with Bonnie. They were all here to help and I was so appreciative of them. I thought they were going to kill the guy, which was honestly what I wanted. But apparently, the murderer was a vampire. An old one, too, which meant he was stronger than everyone. My friends put up a good fight and I tried to get Andrew and Jenny out of the house, but as soon as we were going down the stairs, the murderer sped up to us and snapped both of their necks. I-It all happened so fast. I….I just couldn't register what was happening. They both just fell limp in my arms. I didn’t know what to do but cry. I was practically screaming while crying, cursing at the murderer. I tried to fight him, but I was so tired and weak, he almost ended up killing me, but luckily Stefan got to him the fastest and ripped his heart out. He fell right on top of me, too. I will never forgetting the weight I was feeling just then. Metaphorical and physical. I pushed him off of me and collapsed into Stefan’s arms. He held me for what seemed like forever until I stopped crying.”
I felt Kai move closer to me, putting a comforting hand on my hand. I smiled softly at him, letting out a deep breath as I was about to finish the story.
“I didn’t come to school for four months after that. I didn’t even come out of my room during that time. My friends took turns everyday taking care of me. Stefan was on cooking duty, Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie switched roles of helping me bathe, getting me to eat, trying to get me to take a step out of bed. Damon and Jeremy provided the jokes and funny stories to try and get me to feel better. Alaric, who was acting like Elena and Jeremy’s parent, adopted me into their family. He said it was Elena and Jeremy’s idea and he agreed fully. After my grieving period, I moved in with the Gilberts. Elena and Jeremy called me their sister and I fell into that role. It was nice to have a family again. It was nice to have siblings again. To have a parent again. I knew it wasn’t real, though. Jeremy and Elena acted like it was real, though. They were so welcoming of having me as a sister, it was just so good. Once I went to college, though, I tried to get a little more independent. Bonnie was gone, actually, so all I had was Caroline and Elena. But we made it work. I’m so thankful for all of them. They really helped me and never gave up on me. Even when I threw fits about getting out of bed,” I smiled at the memories of them helping me.
“Anyways,” I shifted on the couch. “The summer before college, I ended up cremating my family and spreading them across the Pacific Ocean, thanks to Damon who gladly took me on a trip.”
“Wow,” Kai breathed out. “I know,” I chuckled.
“You have really great friends. I’m sorry that all happened to you,” he said. “I-I can’t imagine what you went through. And what you’re still going through.” “Yeah, well, I’m the survivor here. You’re an actual murderer,” I smirked.
He laughed, “True. You know, if you know that I’m a murderer, then why do you agree to spend time with me?”
I sighed and set the empty bowl of ice cream on the table. “Well, you’re right. I am trusting. I see the good in people and I see the good in you. When I was about to walk out the door, I saw the good in you. I see the good in you now. You can be good, Kai. I know it’s hard considering what you have been through, but you are just as much as a survivor as I am.” I intertwined our fingers and put my other hand on his forearm.
“You were abused as a child. You were punished for being different. And although that doesn’t excuse you killing your siblings, you still deserve love. I don’t know how being in a coven works, but I do know how being in a family works. You’re supposed to love each other and your father didn’t give you that love. Sure, you’re a little… eccentric at times, but you still have feelings like everyone else. I know Damon and Bonnie called you a sociopath, and I know I did, too, but now that I’ve seen this side of you, I know you’re different. You should be able to resent your father for being blamed for being a siphoner. Which, by the way, I think it really cool, honestly. I-I’m sorry for yelling at you and getting really mad all those times,” I apologised, looking at him in the eyes to know I was sincere.
He shrugged with a smile, “Well I didn’t make it easy on you.”
I laughed, “No, you did not. Anyways… You are a survivor Kai. A survivor of your family and this world. You deserve a lot more than you think.”
“Thank you. I guess that’s true,” he said.
I smiled and leaned into him, “I know it’s true.”
He smiled at me, his hand tightening around mine. My eyes trailed down to his lips, ogling them for a good few moments.
“Does the necklace has pictures of them?” Kai asked.
I leaned away immediately, my hand slipping out of his. “Yeah, do you want to see them?”
He nodded, moving closer to me so our thighs were touching. I took off the necklace, opening it up and showing him the left side where my parent’s picture sat.
“That’s my dad, Owen, and that’s my mom, Louisa,” I pointed.
“You look just like your mom,” Kai muttered.
I looked to my right, seeing that he was staring right at me. I blushed a little, looking down shyly. “Yeah. We got our genes from our mom.”
“Are they Andrew and Jenny?” He pointed to the right side of the locket.
“Yep. Andrew is 10 and Jenny is 13,” I said.
“They look like good kids,” he commented. “They were. I often wish that it was me who died instead of them,” I murmured.
“Why?”
“Because I was the one who snuck out that night. Plus, my mom and I were having some relationship issues. She was always so irritated with me and criticizing everything I did. The last thing I said to her that night was “I hate you. I wish I had a different mom.”,” My lips were pulled down in a deep frown.
“Well, you didn’t mean that, right?” Kai guessed.
“I didn’t,” I shook my head. “Well, that’s all that matters,” he said.
I nodded and looked up at him.
“You have a little… Here,” he said and lifted up his hand. He cupped my cheek, his thumb running across my cheekbone, wiping a few tears away.
My breath hitched as I felt myself leaning towards him. There was like this magnetic pull that I was feeling. I knew I couldn’t fight it if I tried. His eyes met mine, staring intensely at me. My eyes flickered down to his lips. They looked so soft. So pink. So unbelievably kissable. I was about to close the space in-between us when Kai stopped me.
He put his hand on my shoulder, pushing me back.
“What? Did I read the situation wrong? I’m so sorry,” I rushed out, getting up from the couch.
Kai’s hand grabbed my forearm roughly, pulling me back down on the couch.
“No, it’s not that. You read the situation totally right it's just that… I’ve never kissed anyone before,” he admitted, looking down shyly.
I smiled softly, reaching my hand out for his. “It’s alright. We don’t have to do anything. It’s late, anyways. I should get going.” I looked at the clock, noticing that it was 9:30.
“Or you can stay and we can watch a movie?” He suggested. “Sure,” I nodded with a smile. “Can I take my shoes off?” “Yeah, of course. Actually um, do you want a change of clothes?” He asked.
“Yeah, if you don’t mind,” I nodded.
“Sweatpants and t-shirt work for you?” He asked.
“It definitely does,” I said. “Great. I’ll be right back, go ahead and make yourself comfortable,” he said, getting up from the couch.
I smiled and nodded, taking my shoes and jacket off. I leaned back on the couch, sighing. I could not believe I was making nice with someone who tried to kill me. Damon was right. My type is crazy.

“Shit! I’m so sorry,” Sy apologized as he accidentally spilled his drink on a woman who was sitting by the bar; his eyes lifted from the stain his drink made on her velvet dress to her eyes. Wow she looks beautiful, he thought as his mouth hung agape and he struggled to formulate words. “It’s alright,” She reassured him and chuckled at his panic, “I trust it was just an accident?”
It took him a few seconds before foolishly nodding his head, “It was, I’m sorry,” He pointed to the gathering crowd behind him that were rushing to get out to the balcony, “I was being pushed around by all these people.” It was a mere ten minutes before the new year approached them.
“Ah, well I don’t know about them but I’m not too keen on the fireworks,” She stated as she paid her bill. This lured Sy in as he hasn’t met a lot of people who disliked fireworks like he did, “You don’t like fireworks too? How come?”
She shook her head as she stood up from the chair, “Well just one of the reasons is that it bothers a lot of dogs.”
“My dog hates the fireworks too!” He said, too excited and he had to clear his throat as he began to walk along with her, “‘Tis the reason why I chose a hotel room with soundproof walls, or so they say.” Waiting for the elevator, she cooed at the mention of his furry companion; she was too excited that she couldn't help herself from asking, “Do you mind if I see your dog? Only if it’s alright, of course.”
The elevator let out a soft chime, Sy gestured for her to step in first and she did, “Sure!” He entered his own floor number and smirked smugly at her, “You sure this isn’t some devious plan of yours to lure me in and seduce me?”
She could feel her heart beat increase as she shook her head and slapped a hand to his pec, “No! Excuse you I just happen to love dogs so much, okay?” The former captain could feel the nervousness start to sink in as the elevator didn’t play out instrumental music; shifting his weight between his feet, he took a good look at her face as she was looking on her phone with a slight frown.
“What got you pouting over there like a heartbroken child?”
His Texan accent was thick when he said that sentence that it had her laughing softly as she chucked her phone into the back pocket of her denim jeans, “Where’s that accent from?”
“Texas; you from there?” She shook her head as she told him where she was originally from. The soft elevator chime informed them they were on the Captain’s floor. Taking charge, Sy exited first and his one hand pressed against the elevator doors, giving Y/N enough time to step out of the cold box. “Are all Texans a gentleman like you? Or is it just you?”
A deep chuckle erupted from his chest as he reached for his hotel key card in his back pocket once they were in front of his hotel room door, “Some are as dastardly as they come, while some clean up their act only to impress the ones they’re courting.”
As he opened the door, he gestured for her to enter first and she did with a smile; upon closing the door behind him, they both could hear Aika’s excited barks coming from the bathroom. “You might want to sit first on the bed, I’m gonna get her out.”
“Taking me to bed already? Naughty Texan you are,” Her flirty remark had the both of them laughing, but she happily skipped and sat on the bed as she patiently waited for the dog.
“And this is Aika,” Sy announced as the German Shepherd patiently and in a disciplined manner walked beside him; it was impressive to Y/N how the cute pooch was, despite her excitement — which was visible with her wagging her tail vigorously — she was still staying beside him before being given permission to approach her.
“You can go ahead and pet her,” Sy nodded as he sat on the floor beside Aika. With that signal, she knelt down and proceeded to scratch the space between her ears as she greeted, “Hi Aika, how are you?”
Sy looked with adoration as the girl giggled out loud when her face was being smothered and licked by Aika’s tongue, “Alright easy now, girl,” He tried pushing Aika to him; but to no avail the female dog seemed to have preferred his new found friend more as she plopped herself onto her lap and nuzzled to her.
“It seems like she might have chosen over you,” She observed as she stroked her fur with a smile; “I can’t blame her for doing so; I would have chosen you too, you know?”
His remark had her eyes widening and shock and she could feel the heat rushing up to her cheeks, “I don’t think I’m strong enough to carry you on my lap, Sy.” It was the first time he heard say her name and he felt this tremble inside him — due to all his years in the military, he mistook the feeling for something of fear while he was out in the battlefield — but really it was just butterflies floating around in his stomach.
“Well doesn’t have to be sitting on your lap, you could sit on mine you know?” He threw in a wink to mask his nervousness. Biting her lip, she gently jostled Aika off her lap and moved to sit beside him, until the outside of both their thighs were grazing against each other, “Let’s start off like this first and see where we go from here, yeah?”
“I’m fine with that,” He grinned at her, he checked on his wrist watch and noticed how they were a minute away from welcoming the new year, “Last sixty seconds of this year and it’s giving me a gift as a way to end and start the new year’s.”
Loving the sound of that, she took a bold move to sit on his lap, he tilted his head up to look at her as she was caressing his bearded cheek, “How ‘bout we welcome the new year with a kiss then?”
Instead of verbally responding, he took charge and slanted his lips with hers; pleased with what he did both her hands ran across the short trims of his hair while his large, warm hands circled around her waist.
The loud countdown by the people counting down the last ten seconds could be heard, but both of them could only focus on the feel and taste of each other. As their lips danced together, they both could feel the rumbling sound of the fireworks, they felt a dog snuggle in between them.
Breaking away from the kiss they both turned their attention to the sweet furball; Sy cooed at her while he was rubbing her head lovingly, “It’s okay, girl. We’re here, we won’t let the fireworks harm you okay?”
It was abordable to see how snuggly the pooch was, they giggled among each other while they brushed her fur lovingly. Sy moved her body around so her back was to his chest, whereas AIka settled her head into her lap; it had only been less than a few hours before they had met each other, they both felt safe and at peace with each other.
“She’s so adorable, how long has she been with you?” She found it odd how the collar she had did not contain a name tag. “Been together for almost three years now, she’s an army dog.”
With that information, she turned to face him, “Are you a veteran?” He nodded with a tight-lipped smile. Her hands left Aika’s fur and turned fully to hug him, rubbing the wide expanse of his back, “Thank you for your service, Sy.”
Part of him found her reaction quite silly, but at the same time no one has expressed such sincere gratitude to him and the fact that it came from her warmed his heart even more. “Well I had to make the world safe for you now, don’t I, love?”
Removing his tight hug around him, she jokingly shoved his shoulders but smirked otherwise. “So what are your plans now that you and Aika,” She pet the dog once more to remind her that they were here for her, “Have retired from active duty?”
“Gonna be training newly recruited soldiers — gives great pay and benefits, so I thought why not?” She pouted and tilted her head as her fingers ran around the hair that was by the nape of his neck. “Maybe try to get some sleep for once.”
“You have trouble sleeping? Do you have nightmares?”
Sy nodded sadly as he bit his bottom lip, “Not really nightmares, moreso flashbacks of all the explosions and killings.” He took a deep breath before continuing his recount of his sleepless nights, “Part of the reason why I don’t like fireworks, really. They remind me of when I was back in Iraq.”
The feeling of the pad of her fingers felt great along his skin, prompting him to open up more and let down his walls. Disconnecting his gaze from Aika and onto her eyes allowed him to see orbs of hope and love. “I’m sorry to hear that, Sy. You’re so brave for having to get over the terrors that keep you up at night.”
“Maybe if I had someone to hold me, I wouldn’t have trouble sleeping.”
The captain was only joking, but she didn’t hesitate when offering, “Well I could hug you to sleep at night, test that strategy of yours?” He looked at her with bewilderment, “You’d sleep — not the euphemism — with a man you just met?”
Shrugging her shoulders, she pursed her lips, “I’ll take my chances with you, Sy. But I don’t think you’re the type to lure women and kill them in their sleep now, are you?”
He chuckled and pecked her lips softly, “Well damn am I glad that you’re taking your chance on this Texan captain. I can lend you some clothes so you can dress up?”
She nodded and stood up, offering her hands to him which he gratefully took as he stood up. Silently, he handed her clothes and guided her to the bathroom, allowing her to dress and freshen up first. Once she was done with her routine, she then exited the bathroom and told Sy it was now his turn to change. As the captain was changing into more comfortable clothes, Y/N had been petting Aika and humoring her.
“Are you ready to sleep now?” He smiled as he leaned against the wall as he was watching the lovely scene in front of him.
“I am, and I do hope you get to sleep well.”
There was the warm feeling in his chest and stomach again; instead of addressing it internally, he just picked Y/N up from the floor and laid them both down on the wide bed. “Show off,” She remarked as she cuddled up into him — her arms wrapping around his wide frame as her legs tangled with his.
“Happy new year, by the way,” She said after a few moments of silence after they were cuddling. Nodding to himself, Sy pressed a tender kiss on her shoulder before greeting her back, “Oh it will be, love.”
And that night did prove his theory right, that he does sleep better with someone holding him. But that wasn’t the only reason as to why he wanted to keep her in his life for a long time.

prompt from simping softness from @soulmemes
Life never seemed to go the way you expected.
Before you graduated college with your degree in marketing and social sales, you had worked so hard to build your resumé to help you out before you ventured out into the world.
You had every intention of moving states, even countries. You applied any and everywhere, but you always got hit with the same thing - not enough experience. So you settled on moving back in with your parents, something that was not in your plans, and sticking with sales and social media marketing for a local business.
Though you never wanted to admit it, you were glad life worked out in that way, it gave you so much more time to save money and strive for more. While you got experience, you still applied yourself, in hopes that something would go your way. And it finally did.
It all started when a worldwide brand reached out to you after applying any and everywhere. They were impressed with your resumé, your work, and after your interview, they contacted you soon after with hiring and relocation plans. The only thing was - it was in London and you were expected to move in by the next month to start training.
When announcing it to your parents, they were so thrilled that they threw you a small “big girl job” party. That’s where you got it - you were the type of person that celebrated everything and you never wanted to miss out on that. A small cake, your favorite meal, and finishing off with reminiscing and watching your favorite movie with your parents and little sister.
Now, you were searching desperately for apartments, houses, townhomes, anything that you could afford with your savings. Nowhere seemed to fit into your budget, looked unlivable, or weren’t taking apartment applications. You felt defeated, stressed to the point that you hadn’t even started packing. Over a week had passed and you knew you had to do something.
Researching and researching finally took you to an ad - three people looking for a fourth roommate. It was a house, with what looked nice, clean, and you would even have your own room. You decided to send an email, [email protected]. About an hour later, you received a notification asking if you’d be able to FaceTime or Skype to do a little interview, talk about the house, expenses, and whatnots. You agreed, asking them the best time to call due to time differences. When they replied almost instantly with their number and saying, “give us 20 min :)”, you did. And 20 minutes later, you called the number.
You sat anxiously, biting on your nail while waiting for the person to answer. Finally, it said connecting. That’s when you saw it - three boys. “Uh, hi.” You said. “Hey! Are you Y/N?” “That’s me. Are you Holland Golf One?” The boy let out a laugh. “Or you can call me Harry. Sorry, the other two couldn’t make it. So, you’re looking for a place to live?” “That is so. Um, do you live with any girls?” You asked with a small nervous laugh. “If you wanna consider Tessa, our dog who comes to stay time to time, sure. Other than that, unfortunately not.”
At this point, you were ready to say sorry for wasting his time but you were sure it wasn’t a good fit. Harry could tell that you were skeptical. “Look, I know, it’d probably seem a little weird but I can promise you, we’re all good guys, and honestly we’re hardly ever here. We travel all the time, so it’d be like you’d have the house to yourself, just a quarter of the price each month.” “I believe you’re a good guy, it’s just - I’m quite literally moving across the world.” You thought how ridiculous you had to be to even consider this, but at this point you had no other choice.
“When are you needing to move in somewhere?” “Pretty much immediately. I accepted a job close by there and they’re expecting me in less than three weeks.” Harry nodded as you talked. “Well, we’d love to meet you if you consider us. We could go over everything altogether, you could set your own ground rules, whatever.” Harry then explained the prices, what each extra thing costed each months, broke down everything. You nodded slowly as you listened. “Could I maybe get back to you? I have a lot to consider.” You said at the end of your call. “Of course, feel free to text me with any questions.” He said with a smile before hanging up.
Less than a week later, you had packed quite a bit, preparing things for your family to ship wherever you got settled, of course packing a few suitcases to last you for a little while until you found the perfect place. After panicking and making a quick choice, you opted to give Harry and his roommates a chance. You told him you’d stay in a hotel until you met them and make the decision then. You at least had some savings to use on a hotel if you needed while you looked at other places if needed.
You dared not to tell your parents that you were considering living with three men, they would probably flip out and forbid you from leaving the states. When you’d arrived to the airport, you promised your family that you’d make sure to keep them updated, call them when you landed, and let them know when I found the perfect place. After checking in and getting on the plane, you felt the nerves finally hit you.
You were really doing this. You were leaving home and preparing for something bigger. Something you couldn’t fathom and wanted for so long. And you couldn’t wait to see what it was going to look like.
————————
The time zones had royally screwed you over. When you landed, though you were tired, it was still light out. You dragged yourself off the plane and finally found your bags. Luckily, you were able to taxi your way to the nearby hotel. Once you arrived and checked in, you let your parents know you’d made it into the hotel and decided to text Harry.
You: landed and have made it into my hotel!
Harry: whenever you want to come, i’ll send the address! we’re free anytime this afternoon.
You: sure, give me an hour?
Harry had sent you the address and you took the hour as a chance to freshen up. You changed out of your leggings and t-shirt into something a little nicer. With a little make up and a quick toss of your hair, you were ready to go. You prepared an Uber and made your way to the address.
Pulling up, you were honestly impressed. It looked just like the pictures Harry had sent to you, a decent two story house, decorated with hedges and trees surrounding. You slowly emerged to the front door, ringing the door bell. You fidgeted nervously, mentally noting that you had a taser and pepper spray if needed. Just then, Harry, the one familiar face you’d seen, answered the door. “Y/N! Welcome!” He ushered you in as you heard other voices from the living room.
“Here, let’s meet the other two.” Harry urged you into the living room. As you walked down the hallway, you took in the shocking amount of paintings, photographs, and decor that actually had overtaken the walls. When you walked into the open living room, you saw the large sectional, bean bag, and chair that occupied the room, a television mounted with an entertainment center holding each and every video game you could think of. Then your eyes took in the backs of the heads of two boys sitting on the sectional.
When they turned around, you immediately recognized the curly-haired brown-eyed boy but didn’t say a word, but instead shrugged it off. The blonde blue eyed boy looked from his friend up to you with a smile on his lips. They both stood to shake your hand. “You must be Y/N! I’m Tom.” “And I’m Harrison.” You smiled, acknowledging them both. “Nice to meet you.”
You sat on the chair across from the sectional, purse laid flat in your lap. “So, tell us about yourself.” Harrison asked. You told them exactly what you had said to Harry, about why you were needing a place. The conversation continued and followed into a tour. “So this is the kitchen.” Tom said. It was white with a small table in the dining room that was covered in puzzles. You smirked at that. There was a bar covered with appliances, a fridge covered in slips of paper for take-out.
You were then shown the different bedrooms and bathrooms of the home, the backyard that was occupied with none other than chickens, a laugh erupting from all of you when you saw them. They rambled on and on about each part of the house, attempting to win you over. You were almost sold. “So, house rules.” You said. “Right, so nothing too crazy. Just pick up after yourself, no crazy parties unless we agree on it…” Harry began to explain.
As much as you hated to admit it, this was the perfect place for you right now. You took in the boys in front of you, who indeed seemed fairly normal and not too much like murderers. “Have you ever had a girl roommate before?” You asked. “Er, no, but we don’t mind it. We promise to be respectful of you and your space. If something makes you uncomfortable, you can just tell us and we’ll work something out.”
————————
Days later, you were piling in your suitcases into a room in a house with boys you’d only met days ago. The first few days were filled with attempting to learn about each other and schedules. You found that your best bet was to shower at night, because all three boys would hog the one and only shower. Though there were 2 bathrooms, only one had the shower.
Adjusting seemed harder than you thought. It wasn’t like the boys were making it hard, you just found it hard to walk downstairs and initiate conversation. You’d began to keep to yourself more over the next week, even right before you started your new job. You’d went in to meet your new boss in person, and was sent home with paperwork to complete before you came back for your first day.
You’d sat in your room, candles flickering around and lamp illuminating the small desk you’d found on marketplace. There was a small knock at the door. “Come in.” You said. In walked Tom, a mug of tea in hand. “Hey, I just wanted to bring this by before your first day tomorrow. It’s chamomile. It should help you sleep.” You cocked an eyebrow, unsure what to think. “Oh, uh, thank you.” “Do you not like tea?” “No, actually I love it. Just shocked is all.” You replied, looking up at him. “No need to be, we just wanted to make sure you were set for your first day.”
That was the first time Tom did something like that, but it wasn’t the last. The next morning, the group chat Harry had created called “Roomies” was bombarded with well-wishes for your first day. You caught yourself grinning as you Ubered your way to the building.
It was a week later when Tom had came to check in on you again. This time, he brought just himself. It was a Saturday morning and he knocked on the door again. After invitation, he walked in. He noticed a redness in your eyes. “Hey Y/N. Everything okay? We just haven’t seen much of you, you know besides work.” You gave him a soft smile, sure he could tell you had been upset already this morning. “For sure, just a little homesick is all.”
This prompted the boys to invite you to a night out. Though you wanted to protest that you should stay home and prepare for the work week ahead, they insisted that this is what weekends were for. So there you were, getting ready. As you can down the stairs, the boys smiled. “Glad to have you join us, Y/N.”
The night was surprisingly fun. You’d met Tom’s other brother, Harry’s twin, Sam, and another best friend of all of theirs named Tuwaine. They were just as welcoming as the boys seemed to be. They asked you questions, prying into who you were. Though you never were one to open up, you felt so giddy that they all actually looked like they were intentionally listening to you. Tom would redirect the attention to you anytime you’d speak, a smile playing on his lips as he noticed you get more comfortable as the night went on.
——————
You were fiddling with a small snow globe that was in your hand. It was filled with a historic landmark of your home town while white glitter fell all around it. Your stomach churned at the thought of what life was like back at home. You missed family dinners, you missed breakfast on Saturday mornings, there was so much you missed. Hell, you just missed being in the same time zone.
That’s when it happened, you finally let yourself cry. You held the snow globe in your hand, holding it close to your heart. The memories flooded into your mind, replacing even the good ones you’d made here in London. It just didn’t feel like home yet.
As Tom was passing by to go to his room, he overheard small sobs and sniffles from your room. He stopped in his tracks, just listening closely. “I just want my family.” He heard you whisper to yourself. Tom’s heart broke at the sound of you. He hesitated before tapping on the door.
“Hey, I heard you out here. Are you okay?” He asked, his big brown eyes taking in your current state. “I’ll be okay, thanks.” You forced a smile before sitting up in your bed. Your eyes were red and puffy, your cheeks burned hot with tears. “Clearly you’re not. May I?” He asked pointing to the edge of the bed. He closed the door and took a seat. “What’s wrong?” “I just miss home. I miss family dinners and Saturday morning breakfast. I miss movie nights. There’s just so much. I was lucky to have parents who really invested in quality time and I just think I’m struggling without that right now. I’ll get used to it though.”
Tom took in your words, placing a hand carefully over your blanket covered ankle. “I understand. When I’m away traveling, onset, whatever it is, I get to missing home. The routines, the laughter around the table, I get it. I even get homesick sometimes here and I live with my brother.” He said with a small laugh. “How about this? Whenever you’re feeling sad or you need to talk, you leave this out on the hall table. No one will notice but me.” Tom picked up the snow globe that was now laying next to you.
With a smile you agreed. “What about you? I want to be there for you too if you ever need it. You said you get homesick.” “I have my very own London snow globe my mum got me when I was a boy. That’ll be my indicator.” Tom said with a smile.
——————
Over the next several months, you noticed so much changing between your relationship with the boys. Only days after you had spoken with Tom, suddenly there were invites from the boys to join them for dinner in the kitchen. There was breakfast on Saturday mornings here and there.
Life soon got busy for the boys though, and just as Harry said, you started to be left alone to the house quite a bit. Though before you expected it to love that, you actually found yourself feeling lonely with no one home.
You tried to busy yourself with the television all to yourself for once, enjoying take-out that the boys weren’t typically fond of. Before you went to bed one night, while there was no one in the house, you cried freely. Life seemed to be getting overwhelming. Work was getting heavy, but you tried to power through because it’s what you wanted. You missed your sisters birthday party - the first one you’d ever missed in her 15 years of life. Before you closed your door for the night, you (almost jokingly) set your snow globe out on the table. When you settled into bed, you were taken off guard when your phone lit up, revealing a facetime call from Tom.
“How’d you know?” You said, answering the phone almost immediately. “Know what, darlin’?” Tom asked. “That I put my snow globe out.” “Spidey senses, I suppose.” He gave a small grin. “No, but really, are you okay?” “Yeah, just miss you guys.” Tom gave a smile. “We miss you, too. We’ll be home soon, love.”
——————
As you spent more and more time with Tom, it became almost natural for him to make plans with you alone. Harrison was the first to catch on after he invited Tom for lunch but he turned it down when he said he was taking you out. “Like on a date?” Harrison asked, sitting down at the island. “I- er, no. Just showing her Gideon’s.” “That is ridiculously fancy. Are you sure it’s not a date?” “Yes.” “I’d hope not, she is kind of our roommate, you know. That could cause some weird issues. Like if you date and break up, damn.”
——————
One night when you were least expecting it, Tom had his snow globe out on the table. You knocked on his door when he invited you in. You caught glimpse of the curly haired boy, laying face down on his pillow. “Hi Tom. You okay?” “‘M just overwhelmed.” He muffled out. Without looking up, he patted the place next to him. You carefully climbed on the other side of the bed, allowing him to bring his head to your lap.
Without thinking, your hands fell to his hair as you rubbed through it. “What’s on your mind?” He felt his heart beat faster at the comforting action of you running your fingers through your hair that he almost forgot why he was even in this position anyway. “Oh, um, just this new script I got is just a lot. And then, I had to tape an audition today and I just don’t think I gave it my best.” As he rambled on, you watched as his eyes started to flutter shut.
You took it as time to head out, but instead he gripped your hand. "Just a little longer?" So you did. You stayed just a little longer.
——————
It didn’t stop there. You’d found that Tom had began calling more and more when he was away, and that his friends and brothers had started to tease them about it. He was so eager for you to come and meet his parents, who were ultimately skeptical about a girl living with three boys, but they fell utterly in love with you instantly.
The snow globe game continued. It went on pause when you had accidentally fell asleep in Tom’s bed one night when he’d put the globe out. He had a lot of things on his plate and he just needed to be told that he was going to be okay. It was the first time you’d seen tears fall from the boy’s brown eyes personally. He asked you to lay there until he fell asleep, his hand barely grazing your arm. He was always careful about boundaries.
As you waited for him to fall asleep, you accidentally drifted off yourself. When you woke up at 6:30 the next morning, frantic that you weren’t in your own bed and also that you didn’t shower the night before like you’d promised yourself, you hoisted yourself out of the bed and carefully opened the door. Before walking out, you looked back at the sleepy boy laying comfortably in his bed. His freckles playing across his cheeks, mouth slightly opened. You couldn’t help but still feel his warmth next to you. You almost wanted to walk back and kiss him. You shook your head, cleaning the thought out of your mind, though it continued to linger. Thinking you were in the clear, you shut Tom’s door behind you just to come face to face with Harrison, who’s eyes looked like they would pop out of his head.
“It’s not what it looks like.” You whispered. “Don’t need to know.” He replied with a shrug and a smug grin. You immediately groaned when you walked into your own room, the one you’d abandoned for the night. Dry shampoo was your friend that day because there was no way you wanted to face the boys anymore than you had to that morning.
——————
Tom had found himself growing fond over your company. You’d almost been there a year now, and there was just something about you that he found himself wanting to spend more time with you. From the beginning, he wanted to make you happy. That’s why he begged his friends to partake in dinner nights and Saturday morning breakfast. He would want to make up something when he saw your globe wasn’t out, just so you’d come over and talk to him.
His friends would constantly tease the both of you when you would accidentally hug a little too long, stare a little too long. “Just kiss already.” Harry would mumble under his breath.
Tom had finally made it home from another few weeks of traveling. He was relieved when he walked through the door and smelled you cooking. He walked over, a smile plastered on his face as he pulled you into a hug. “My globe will be out tonight for sure.” He whispered, exhaustion underlying his voice. He walked upstairs to lay his bags down, noticing that your snow globe was already sitting on the table.
It was weird because he knew that he hadn’t been there, so he couldn’t quite place why it’d be out. The boys walked in saying their hellos to you, piling into their own rooms, mentioning that they were about to devour your cooking.
You served the guys and allowed them to talk all about their latest trip. Harry was showing you footage he’d captured that he was editing, Tom talked of some photo shoots he did and some interviews he’d taken part in, Harrison showed you some of the photo shoots he had done himself. You beamed at the three boys who in just months had became family to you.
When dinner was over, you’d ushered the boys to the living room as you cleaned the dishes, mentioning they needed the rest after a long trip. Though they argued, you finally won and they made their way to the living room.
Tom made sure the volume was turned up loud enough that you couldn’t hear him whispering to the boys. “I think I’m gonna tell her tonight.” “About time.” Harrison replied with a laugh. “You’ve seriously been head over heels this whole time. Come on, you practically forced us into movie nights and dinners just for her to be comfortable. Not to mention, Harrison told me about her spending the night with you.” “Okay, so I wanted her comfortable, sue me. And it’s not what it seems. We were talking and fell asleep.” “So that’s what the kids are calling it these days.” Harry laughed.
——————
It was late and you were scrolling through your social media. You’d caught up with some of your hometown friends messages to you, scrolling through each of their profiles separately. Just then you heard a knock on your door. “Come in!” You called out.
Tom pushed open the door, sweatpants hugging his hips and a black t-shirt plastered across his chest. “Hey, love. Feeling okay?” You let out a sigh, wondering why he was asking. Though he would visit without you putting out the globe, if it wasn’t there, the conversation didn’t usually start that way. But then it hit you - you set it two nights ago.
“Yeah, Tommy. Are you?” “Yeah, just wanted to check in, and uh, I saw the globe out earlier.” “I’m sorry, I forgot to bring it in.” You replied. He looked at you, eyebrows scrunched together. “But when? It wasn’t there when I left.”
“You’re gonna think I’m crazy.” “Well, I already knew you were.” Tom said with a laugh as he sat down next to you. “First off, rude.” You grinned. “Second off, I put it out when you’re gone. When I miss you. It’s something I started one night when I was upset and you weren’t here. I just felt really lonely.. and I don’t know. I just, I feel so safe around you.” You looked up at him in the eyes, a smile was playing on his lips.
“Tommy, you make me feel secure. You do the things I enjoy and you’ve taught me new things to enjoy. You just make life easier, and for that I’m grateful. I just…” Tom wouldn’t let another word slip out of your mouth before engulfing you into a kiss. Your hands found their way to the sides of his face.
Tom kept his forehead on yours as he pulled away. “Ive been wanting that for so long.” He whispered breathlessly. “You have no idea.”
As he laid next to you, he stared at you, inches from your face. “I’ve fallen for you.” He said. “I’ve fallen for you too.” As the kiss continued, Tom effortlessly hoisted himself up to his elbows then his hands, pressing each one on either side of your head on the bed as he hovered over you. “You’re just so pretty.” He place a kiss on your forehead. “And lovely.” Your nose. “And amazing.” Your cheek. “And sexy.” He finally made it back to your lips, softly nursing each moment with you like you’d never have anymore.
——————
The next few days were filled with nothing but pure joy. The boys cheered, thankful that you would no longer be pining back and forth around them. Tom had made sure you knew just how grateful he was for you, constantly showering you with compliments and much needed affirmations.
It wasn’t until a few weeks later of constant moments with your new boyfriend that it hit you that he was going away again for a month this go round. You sighed when you looked at the shared calendar in the kitchen, highlighted date showing that he was due to leave in two days.
He had went out with the boys to pick up some things before their trip, you opted to stick it out at home for the night and let them have some time together. As you walked into your bedroom, you found yourself way more upset and lonely than usual - because you knew he was about to be out of your arms for a whole month after you’d finally gotten him.
When you set out the globe, you felt almost dumb. You’d been dating only weeks and here you were crying over his future absence. The front door creaked open, and you heard the boys bustling inside with bags. After muffled conversations conversations, you heard Tom say his goodnights. His feet hit each stair with a thud until you heard him stop by your door. A knock came before he was invited to come in. “Hi darlin’” He walked over, taking his usual spot next to you in your bed before enveloping you into a kiss. “Is everything okay?” He asked, tugging you closer into his chest. You nodded yes, only to be greeted with a tug back and brown eyes staring back into your own.
“Globe.” He reminded, kissing your nose. He saw the tears brimming in your eyes, immediately causing him the prop himself up and gently place his hand on the side of your face. “Love, what’s going on in that pretty little mind?”
“I just miss you already is all.” You squeaked out. “Oh, Y/N, I miss you already too. But look, it’s a month. We got this. You’ve been strong all this time without me here, I know we can do this.” He ran his fingers through your hair, keeping his eyes locked on yours.
“My pretty girl, I promise you, I will be here when you wake up in the morning. I’m gonna make sure you know just how loved you are. I’m here always, even if it is through a tiny screen. That changes nothing - I promise to make sure you feel special even miles away.”
And that he did. FaceTimes, short phone calls, and texts throughout the day weren’t enough to him. You’d walked into your office each day he was gone to a new small bouquet of flowers - you were sure the receptionist hated you by now but instead she would just beam when you’d walk in. “You have a delivery.” She’d say with a smile.
From then on out, Tom never failed to make you feel like the most special girl. He bragged constantly about you, and everyone he knew, knew of you. He promised he’d always be there, and he in fact was.

Mistake
kay so i really don't care if some of this doesn't make sense because this is the first thing i've written in a while that i don't absolutely hate. well this version at least. ending up scraping the first draft because it just seemed wrong and went in a different direction. im glad i did cause im happy with it.
anyway i realize that this may not get much feedback because i took a different approach to it, aka the entire pov is from an OC but i can't bring myself to care too much because i wrote this purely for myself. got inspired, started writing, and i actually liked the content i was writing. end of.
btw the oc doesn't refer to inuyasha as a half-demon because he's unaware he is one and i was too lazy to delve into those waters anyhow.
also for the sake of this oneshot pls dont look too closely at the ranks of diplomat and ambassador. i was too lazy to put much research regarding positions of power so just...go with it.
inspired by @stillunderyourbed's art that can be found here.
It was…quaint. Smaller than what he'd expected. The housing structures looked subpar, there didn't appear to be any wooden walkways, and he could detect the distinct odor or fish in the air with hints of manure. There even seemed to be a perpetual dust cloud hovering at about waist high, thickening from the numerous carts, wagons, horses, and villagers kicking up dirt as they went about their daily lives. Already he felt like there was a layer of dust caked on the inside of his lungs and he wasn't even inside yet.
All in all, it was your typical countryside village, home to simple folk that made a living off of fishing, farming, and trade. The diplomat sneered in disgust. For being the rumored home of the creature strong enough to destroy the despicable Naraku, the village was…less than impressive. And to say that he was underwhelmed would be a vast understatement.
Shifting atop his mount, a chestnut gelding that had been his faithful companion for the last four years, Takeji frowned as he surveyed the sight before him. It was early afternoon, so men were out working in the fields, women were chatting amongst themselves as they laundered clothing at the river, and children were running about, playing and laughing while dogs barked at their heels. He could see the great red torii gate and the stone staircase that led to the shrine and he could hardly refrain from rolling his eyes.
The village was obviously poor, possibly even teetering on the edge of poverty, and instead of feeding themselves for a good long while, they decided to construct that monstrosity. He would never understand the minds of simple common folk. Daft. All of them.
Barely keeping himself from scowling, Takeji reluctantly climbed off his mount and forced himself to move forward into the pathetic excuse for a village. Already he knew he would have to burn his expensive attire; there would be no getting the dust and stench out of it after his ghastly visit. A visit he had not wanted to make, but being a highly revered and prestigious diplomat, it was his duty to travel to far off lands in hopes of establishing a profitable relationship that would ultimately benefit his homeland.
Although, looking around and fighting against the urge to retch at both the nauseating stench and the mere sight of all the unwashed villagers milling around, Takeji wondered not for the first time why he even bothered to accept this task. True, it was said the slayer of Naraku did hail from here, but surely having his homeland associated with this hovel would garner nothing but loss. So why had he agreed to come?
Oh, yes, he mused, grimacing as he stepped over a large manure pile right in the middle of the road. Because apparently, being all chummy with the nation's hero will allow us to have him at our beck and call, because who doesn't want a powerful demon capable of slaying the most evil demon in all of existence as an intimidating presence during negotiations, and let's not forget he alone would be equal to about one hundred soldiers in battle.
Rolling his eyes, Takeji tied his mount to a hitching post, withdrew his satchel with all the necessary paperwork, and set about finding this Inuyasha fellow. He'd been told the demon wore scarlet robes, carried a sword at his hip, and had white hair so no doubt he would stick out like a sore thumb amongst the droll browns and grays of the common folk, which suited him just fine. The sooner he was done, the sooner he could leave because there was no way he was staying even a second more in this village than he had to. Even if the next inn was hours away, he'd make the journey; the inn here was probably as unclean and riddled with bed bugs or something. Ugh. How vile.
Shrugging the satchel over his shoulder, Takeji bit back a groan, sighed, and hadn't even made it a single step before the sound of screaming froze him in his tracks. He gasped and immediately started looking for the danger, body tense, preparing to hop back onto his steed lightning fast and make a hasty getaway.
But as he looked around with wide eyes and a frantically beating heart, Takeji couldn't help but notice that he was the only one that appeared to have heard the sound of terror. The villagers were just continuing to go about their day, calm as you please, either severely deaf or completely uncaring. Takeji was beginning to wonder if he was perhaps hearing things when it happened again, a high-pitched sound that he realized with dread belonged to a child.
Takeji gaped. A child was in danger and nobody cared?! What kind of village was this?! Another shriek pierced the air, and Takeji made a decision. Very well; if these imbeciles weren't going to do anything about it, then he himself would see to the danger. While by no means a swordsman or warrior, he did have some weapons training he could fall back on for this precise reason. Traveling alone was dangerous, and you never knew what you would encounter.
Resolved, the diplomat set his jaw, unsheathed the dagger at his waist, and darted toward the direction the screams were coming from. He meandered between houses, hoped over lazing dogs, dodged startled villagers in his path, and he came into a small clearing by the forest's edge. The sight that greeted him was…not what he expected.
Coming up short, Takeji watched with a befuddled frown as one child chased around two other, slightly older looking children. One might think they were playing a game of sorts, and the diplomat started to believe that was indeed the case…until the one doing the chasing, clad in red, suddenly jumped high into the air, over the heads of the other two children, and landed before them with hands raised.
Hands, Takeji noticed with growing dread and disgust, tipped with claws on each finger and he quickly realized what exactly was happening. That wicked little demon brat, that creature was toying with those helpless children! It was keeping them trapped, preventing them from running away by leaping over their heads and blocking their route of escape! They screamed, the demon child laughed, and so potent was his fury, so enraged was he for the fact that the villagers apparently did not care about what was happening right beneath their noses, Takeji failed to notice the wide smiles on all three of the young one's faces. The blood pounding in his ears prevented him from hearing the gleeful giggles as the two human kids scrambled away from the one clad in red, and without another thought, Takeji moved.
"Run, children!" Takeji ordered as he hurled himself into the clearing, dagger raised as he charged toward the demon brat with a baleful glare. "I will take care of his filthy animal!"
All three children froze in place, eyes wide as Takeji inserted himself between the two human children - twin girls, he idly noted - and the demon spawn that dared raised its claws toward them. The brat stared up at him with big brown eyes and it - she - actually looked confused. Takeji scowled. He would not fall for such a ploy.
"I will not allow you to harm them," he spat and pointed his dagger at her. The child blinked at him and then looked behind him at the two girls who still had not taken the chance to flee. In shock, perhaps? Stunned? No matter; they were safe, so long as he stood between them and the threat.
The demon child made a face and started to walk around him, completely disregarding the weapon trained on her, but Takeji shifted and stopped her once more. He heard the two behind him whispering as the spawn looked up at him once again, this time frowning at him with narrowed eyes. And was that a growl he heard? He snorted. Was she actually trying to appear threatening? Pathetic.
Scowling, Takeji lifted a foot, placed it on her stomach, and shoved. The demon gasped as she stumbled back and then landed on her behind with a small grunt. He heard a gasp from behind him, urgent whispering, and then hurried scrambling. A glance over his shoulder told him they'd finally gotten wise and ran away. He nodded. Good. Now he could deal with this vermin without innocent eyes to bear witness.
But as he stared down at the pathetic sight before him, Takeji wondered maybe if such measures would even be necessary. The beast was still lying where she had fallen and was staring up at him with wide eyes brimming with…wait. What? Were those tears? Oh, you have got to be joking.
Rolling his eyes, the diplomat scoffed at the pathetic play for mercy and careless waved his dagger at her. The child actually flinched and followed the blade with her gaze, wariness clear in her eyes. Well. It appeared her self-preservation instincts have finally kicked in.
"Cease your theatrics," Takeji drawled, unimpressed. "They do not fool me. Now lucky for you, demon spawn, the pathetic sight you project has made me decide to spare your life. Your tainted blood is not worthy enough to soil my blade, so I will say this only one and you would do well to heed this warning, beast."
Hardening his stare and curling his lip into a sneer, Takeji spat, "Leave this place at once and do not return. There is no place for the likes of you, an abomination that preys on helpless children. Now get out of my sight, afore I kill you on principle. Your vile presence disgusts me."
The child grunted and Takeji watched, stone faced, as she got to her feet. Then to his surprise the little demon balled her hands into fists at her sides and glared at him, but the effect was ruined by the tears he could clearly see brimming her eyes. He cocked a brow, unmoved. She sniffled once, twice, and then to his utter surprise and bafflement, her face suddenly crumbled, her lower lip trembled, and she promptly burst into loud tears before spinning on her heel and running away.
"P-Papaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Takeji frowned. Papa? Were the brat's kin nearby, then? Body tense and weapon raised, he waited, prepared to either fight or flee - because he wasn't a fool and knew when he was in over his head - but when no demons came bursting out of the tree line, Takeji slowly relaxed.
Bewildered and more than a little annoyed at the whole debacle - what a waste of time! - the diplomat scoffed in derision as he turned to watch the little demon brat scurry away. And then right at that exact moment, a figure donned in red dropped to the ground seemingly out of nowhere and Takeji felt a wave of relief sweep through him. Finally! This had to be his demon quarry.
Nodding, Takeji stepped forward and opened his mouth to call out a greeting—
And then froze in his tracks as the greeting abruptly died on his tongue. Because the little demon girl, the one he'd just pointed his weapon at and shoved to the ground, ran straight to the figure robed in red and Takeji could do naught but watch with a growing sense of horrified dread as the older demon knelt down to take the child into his arms.
All color promptly drained from his face and Takeji suddenly felt sick to his stomach. He glanced behind the pair and he was somehow not at all surprised to find the twin girls from earlier glaring at them and holding onto the skirts of their mother with a monk garbed in violet robes beside her. They too were staring at him in a not so friendly manner, but upon returning his gaze to the two demons, Takeji numbly thought that if looks could kill, he would surely be dead by now.
Because the demon robed in red - which was now unmistakably the child's father and none other than Inuyasha, the demon he'd come here for - was glaring absolute murder at him and it was obvious that he was. Not. Pleased.
Takeji swallowed and unconsciously backed up a step. With one small hand fisting her father's robes, the child had the other pointing an accusatory finger at him as she no doubt recited to him their earlier…ah, exchange. Inuyasha said nothing in response, but he didn't need to. The deep, nearly subsonic growl that erupted from his mouth, complete with fully bared fangs in a truly fearsome snarl, told him very clearly of his thoughts on his daughter's mistreatment by him.
Which, if Takeji had to guess, were not very Takeji-friendly. At all.
Somehow managing to fight against the urge to flee, Takeji swallowed hard as Inuyasha pushed to his feet and stalked toward him with that same murderous look on his face. Something told him, perhaps some deeply rooted self-preservation instinct, that if he even tried to run right then, it would not end well for him. So he remained where he was and tried valiantly to control the trembling in his body as he slowly, very slowly, tucked his dagger back from whence it came.
Inuyasha stopped in front of him and Takeji cleared his throat before attempting a placating smile, but it looked more like a grimace than anything. "Ah…I assume you are…In—"
One second Takeji was staring into the scowling features of one pissed off dog demon. The next there was a bright flash of light and then he was staring at the business end of a very large and very sharp sword. With the tip just a hair's breadth away from his nose, Takeji gasped sharply and stumbled back a step out of instinct.
Sweet merciful heavens! How—?
"Usually I'd ask who the fuck you are," the demon growled, his eyes twin slits of baleful gold. "But honestly, I can't really bring myself to care enough to know the name of the asshole who threatened my daughter when she was doing nothing but playing with her friends."
Takeji blanched for the second time and he could actually feel himself breaking out in a cold sweat. He fucked up. Oh dear god he'd fucked up so bad—
"There's—there's been a misunderstanding," Takeji tried in a voice higher than usual, raising his hands up in what he hoped was a placating gesture as he eyed the very sharp point of that blade. "I—I admit I've made a grave mistake—"
"Shut the fuck up and tell me why I shouldn't gut you where you stand," Inuyasha hissed, lips feeling back off his fangs in another fierce snarl. With his ears pinned back and those golden eyes glaring absolute death at him, the demon made quite the menacing picture. Takeji had the brief, if a bit ludicrous thought, that perhaps the demon Naraku perished from the sheer animosity that was coming off of the silver-haired demon in waves.
Swallowing once, twice, Takeji realized that he only had his quick wit to get him out of his certain predicament. So bracing himself, he opened his mouth—
"He's from the continent, Inuyasha. You can't hurt him."
Startled hazel eyes swung toward the source of the voice but amber eyes stayed locked on their target, the only acknowledgment of the voice a flick of an ear.
The owner of the voice the human diplomat could only presume was the child's mother, as the child in question was standing behind her legs and was actually smirking at him. He frowned.
"You're from Shenshi," the woman remarked and Takeji swung his gaze back to her. "Right?"
Though her expression wasn't openly friendly, it wasn't exactly unfriendly either, however the human diplomat still felt he needed to tread carefully. Because while her face didn't betray anything, her stare was hard and her mouth had tightened into a thin, flat line. She had one hand on her daughter's head while the other clutched a longbow, and belatedly he realized she had a quiver of arrows slung across her back. He barely held in a flinch as he realized this was one of the demon's companions that had assisted in slaying Naraku, possibly the young woman in which Inuyasha held a more meaningful relationship.
A much more meaningful relationship, if the child currently glaring daggers at him was anything to go by since she was more or less living proof of it.
Wonderful. So he'd gone and threatened the only child of two of the most powerful beings in Japan. Clearly he'd stepped over the wrong grave and pissed somebody off.
Clearing his throat and aiming a strained smile toward the woman who was still awaiting his reply, Takeji nodded once. "Ah, y-yes, my lady. I'm—"
"The diplomat Ambassador Sharaku sent to convince Inuyasha to join his ranks so he'd have the support and protection of 'The Great Slayer of Naraku.'" The woman raised a delicate brow at him. "How am I doing so far?"
Takeji had the good grace to look a mite sheepish. "Ah…well—"
"You can't kill him, Inuyasha," she repeated and Takeji thought she sounded disappointed. "If he goes missing, the ambassador will send his troops to find out what happened or if he returns injured, it could be taken as an insult and you can imagine what would happen after that. You would risk mine or Moroha's life like that, and you know it."
Inuyasha growled but said nothing to refute her words, so Takeji assumed he agreed.
"He threatened her, Kagome," the demon spat, inching the blade closer to his throat and Takeji flinched. "Called her a fucking animal, shoved her down, and waved a goddamn dagger in her face! You can't honestly expect me to let that—"
"Papa," the child - Moroha - suddenly said, successfully stalling her father's angry tirade. A quick glance revealed the girl, still sticking close to her mother, was staring at the older demon with big brown eyes, bright with the threat of tears as she worried her bottom lip. And evidently the sight was enough to calm the raging storm of Inuyasha's fury because he grimaced, released a low growl, and then Takeji watched in stunned amazement as the massive sword suddenly transformed into a rusty katana before it was sheathed at his hip.
With a weapon no longer at his throat, Takeji could breathe a little easier and he released a breath he hadn't even been aware he'd been holding. But then he sucked it right back in when Inuyasha suddenly stepped in close and got in his face, a low, threatening growl leaking past rightly clenched teeth bared in another snarl. Golden eyes bore into his own, filled with a lethal warning that had the human male's back straightening and his blood to run cold in his veins.
"You listen carefully, asshole," Inuyasha hissed, glaring so heatedly it was a wonder Takeji didn't burst into flame. "Don't you dare think that my wife's words have any sort of sway over my decision to spare your pathetic life. I'm not scared of your weakling ambassador and I sure as hell ain't scared of his little human army. No, the only reason that I let you live is because I don't want my daughter, the one you foolishly threatened when she had done nothing wrong, to see me sully my hands with your disgusting blood when I reduce you to nothing more than a bloody smear on the ground."
Takeji paled and swallowed thickly. That particular image was…not pleasant.
Inuyasha watched the color drain from his face. Satisfied, he sneered before saying in a growl filled with sinister promise, "Now get the fuck outta my village and if you ever touch my daughter again, I'll gut you so fast you won't even have time to fucking scream."
Then with that, Inuyasha leveled him with one last dark scowl before spinning on his heel and stalking away, a clear dismissal. Neither mother nor daughter even spared the frozen human male a glance as Inuyasha paused to pick his daughter up into his arms before striding away, his wife close to one side and his friends on the other.
From over his shoulder, Takeji could only watch in a mixture of shock and befuddlement as the little demon girl named Moroha smirked and then stuck her tongue out at him, safe and sound in her father's arms.
Left standing in a state of numb bewilderment, Takeji blinked, looked down at himself, and had the passing thought that it was a very good thing he'd decided to wear brown trousers that day.

im here to ask a system question. warning: it might be dumb or ignorant or too intrusive or something cause i dont know what words are. ignore and delete if you want ,or answer with thumbs down emoji so that i go away for a bit
i started saying i was nonbinary online for anonymity or whatever and then i realised hey.... i like this a little too much. fast forward a year and im being theythem'd left right and center by my best friend, and i gave myself a name that i adore, and i want to do a lot more coming out to a lot more people because all i can think about at the moment is that im not a girl or a boy. im just a guy. i never expected people to be okay with this and im scared i cant live my whole life as a nonbinary person or that im just being stupid or something.
is this sort of happening with you as a system right now? not the online anonymity part i mean. but is what youre telling us Mare Enjoyers spilling into your real life? do you tell people? do your friends know? are you terrified about it all the same way i am?
i know being part of a system isnt the same as a gender crisis and its sort of ridiculous of me to phrase this question as if it is, but youre a hugehuge inspiration for me and id like to know how youre living life. or whatever
i guess im asking because this gender stuff feels like my brain is being rewritten. or electrified or something. and i wondered if being part of a syystem is a bit like that too? thanks. if you want to you can tell me to leave or die or something. thank you thanks
anon. rattles you like a maraca. im not going to tell you to die for asking me a well intentioned question 😭 like you're okay i promise, hands you an autumn leaf i found outside <3
that being said i worry i can't give you an adequate answer because im not sure how to make an apt comparison here? my experience with gender myself has been kind of all over the place but mostly boiled down to "i'll just let people find out through some means and we'll go from there"
a little diff from your experience but there are similarities maybe? also i totally get the like, staying anonymous to oh Shit gender pipeline .and im glad you have a lotta supportive people in your life; i think so long as you've got yourself, and you've got a support system, you can live the rest of your life the way you want to! i mean all you really need is yourself but its nice having people to affirm it. so i think u will be okay :D <3
the system stuff is. weird. because okay i do have a thin thread that ties this account to my IRLs and that thin thread is that my closest friend follows this account. which has been kind of a risky maneuver but ultimately my thing is like, if xe finds out then... xe finds out? and we move on. me and my best friend have the benefit of familiarity and also knowing when to let sleeping dogs lie, so i'm not really worried about that.
what DOES scare me is other people IRL finding out, which is kind of different to any of my experiences with sexuality or gender or anything. because for better or for worse i'm sort of an open book, i have a pretty expressive face i've been told and i'm in a pretty accepting school so i just kinda. let shit happen.
of course having a dissociative disorder is really different though because that could legitimately get me into some really shitty situations in a psychiatric context. one of the things protecting me here is the fact that it's more like... i "have" a "dissociative disorder". i might share many characteristics with OSDD-1b, but i'm not going to diagnose myself and my therapist isn't going to diagnose me and both of our reasonings boil down to wanting to prevent me from getting labeled or hospitalized or sterilized or whatever the hell the modern psychiatric biz is still justifying as appropriate measures.
the 'rewritten' part of what you said REALLY resonates, because i think the hardest part about not having my IRLs know is less like ... it's not really that i need them to know about the others. sure it'd be nice to explain the joke that i laughed at out of nowhere (to them) and say that it was klav sassing me about something, but that's not really necessary when i have you all here?
it's more like. well. i myself, as in me, mare, am the host. but i don't know if i was the host forever. most of my mental health recovery has been purposeful and good and hard work on my part, sure. but there was a weird point in time where i had this barrier i couldn't bypass, and one day i just woke up and did. and it just so happened that when i got to that place, i also became more aware of the others (though i hadn't known it was them at the time). a lot that leads me to think i haven't been the host forever.
and i don't need people to know that, exactly. our memories are the same, there's a few blocked out periods but those aren't really the memories i want to recall with anybody IRL anyway and i'm sure they aren't interested in thinking about it either. it's just... there's a very strange grief with knowing that you aren't exactly... the same person? that has been here the whole time. it's very weird. like really fucking weird. and it's kind of hard to live sometimes knowing that i can't really reference who i was before i was 16 without the thought of "that wasn't you."
in the end, the reason that i'm part of a system is because i underwent trauma and my brain needed a way to cope with it. people aren't supposed to be able to tell when me and dahlia switch during school because dahlia fronts when i'm distressed and unable to function, so it's just an attempt to keep me functioning, not her trying to say hi. et cetera. in the end, my classmates aren't really having these weird meet and greets with my alters -- they're around to keep us all afloat.
maybe someday i'll tell people in real life about them. but at the end of the day it's all just one large coping mechanism, with a shit ton of cons and a lot of mental fuckery. and of course it's not just a coping mechanism to ME but it would be that to other people. does that make sense? it's just like any of the other vague coping mechanisms i've mentined to people to explain why i'm so happy so frequently despite everything.
so to summarize all that, i am pretty terrified of people IRL finding out. it could get me into some really yikes situations, and it's also just fucking complicated to explain. but if i did explain it, i would just frame it as a coping mechanism, and i'm sure over time people would stop caring so much.
i've been rambling kind of a lot because this is sort of complicated. it's inevitable someone finds out at some point; i just hope it's in a setting where we're alone and i can explain.
coming out as being part of a system is probably less terrifying than the experience of being part of a system, so it's all uphill. and i think some parts of explaining it would be more terrifying than others, so it's all relative. uphill and relative.
sorry this is rambly, i was thinking about all this just this morning actually? it has a lot of facets to it. saying that i'm not the same person that has always hosted is probably infinitely harder to admit than saying "yeah i have a part of my brain that holds my desperation and helplessness so that in my day to day life i don't feel those emotions as much."
would i like to be open about being a system to everyone? maybe, but it's not necessary. if i'm marrying someone then yes, i'd like them to know. but if we're close friends, or just friends in general, all i really care about is my friends knowing that i'm okay. and that i'm getting through life. the means of how i'm getting through it aren't really relevant to the conversation, imo.
hope you're welll, anon, sorry for rambling this much. and if my IRL following this account does see this, i'm okay lmao also my homeocming fit is so good you're gonna love it ok see u later love u. and i don't know, really, but. yeah. i don't know exactly.
TLDR yeah it's terrifying, but hopefully i have some kind of safeguard against bad consequences following coming out. i am sure if i explained to people in my life they would eventually understand, though some parts of it would be harder to phrase so i would probably leave a few things out. if i'm marrying someone i would probably let them know but otherwise i don't think it's necessary my friends know my coping mechanisms, just that i'm coping. it's not just a coping mechanism to me, but it would be if i were to explain it.
#nightmare.ask#long post#nightmare.system#holy SHIT i talked a lot sorry#i was just crying over this in the morning so i have a lot of thoughts

******
It was bedtime on a snowy January night in the Potter household as Harry Potter tucked his oldest into bed. James, only eight years old, was an energetic young boy. He wasn't ready to sleep yet and he was determined to stay up. The only way he could do so was if his father told him a bedtime story.
"Daddy," he started pulling his dad's sleeve, "tell me a bedtime story."
Harry looked down at his son who was trying to look as innocent as possible. "James, it's time for bed."
"Please daddy!" He gave his best puppy dog expression, his eyes the same as the woman harry loved most, and Harry melted. Both mother and son knew how to use their eyes to their advantage.
"Alright fine, call Albus and Lily and I will tell you a bedtime story."
James excitedly jumped out of bed and brought his siblings into his bedroom.
"Alright kids, what bedtime story do you want to hear?" Harry sat down on the bed beside the three children. "Tell us about the first time you had a date with mummy!" Albus said and lily and James nodded in enthusiasm.
"Alright then. So the first time we went on a date was when we were in our fourth year in Hogwarts. Remember the time I told you about the wizard tournament I was in?..."
The triwizard tournament, a disaster for Harry. He had unwillingly got thrown into a game he wanted no part of. He managed to complete the first task but the hardest part was yet to start. He needed to find a date for the Yule ball. In his opinion fighting a dragon was easier than asking a girl out.
He knew who he wanted to take but he was yet to gather the guts to ask her. He saw her multiple times over the week but everytime there was a distraction. Whether it was her friends pulling her away or a teacher snapping at him to pay attention. Harry was unable to get to her.
Ron too was struggling, unable to find a date. "Mate, you fought a dragon if you can't get a date nobody can." He told him as they walked through the courtyard of Hogwarts. "Right now, I think I'd take the dragon." Harry sighed. Ron patted his back. Harry's eyes drifted toward the crowd of students, his gaze stopping on her. Y/n l/n, she was the nicest girl in Hogwarts and everyone was her friend. She and Harry were acquaintances, they weren't close per se. Harry had been crushing on her since the end of third year when she helped him in potions.
Harry, Ron and Hermione were sitting on a table doing potions work while everyone around them were talking about their dates to the ball. A boy sitting to Harry's right was whispering to his friend. Harry tried not to listen but potions was boring and he heard y/n's name and his ears perked up.
"Have you heard? David Arden asked y/n to the ball. She turned him down , do you think I have a chance?" He asked hopefully. The boy beside him, the friend he was talking to, scoffed. "She turned down David Arden, he's literally every girl's crush. What makes you think you have a chance? Besides she's turned down all the 5 guys who asked her out this week."
Harry returned to his work. 5 guys asked her out and she turned all of them down? What chance do I have now. He thought to himself. "Ron, do you think y/n will go with me to the ball?" He shook his best friend's shoulder. "You're the boy who lived mate, she'd definitely agree."
"She's turned down 5 boys this week ron! What if she turns me down too." Harry sighed. "You will never know if you don't try." Ron shrugged.
Harry made up his mind he was going to ask her out that evening.
"Did you do it daddy? Did you ask her to the ball?" Little Lily asked excitedly. Albus shushed his sister. "Let daddy finish!" Harry chuckled and continued. "As I was saying..."
Harry kept avoiding the fact that he had to ask y/n to the ball. He made excuses to do it later but the more he delayed it the higher the chance of him not getting to go with her higher.
As he returned from the great hall after dinner, he ran into y/n. The person he wanted to speak to. "Im so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." She apologized. "Don't worry about it, I wasn't looking either." Harry chuckled awkwardly.
"I'll be going then." She smiled, but hesitated a bit. "Hey Harry-" "y/n-" they started at the same time. They laughed. "You go first." She said.
"Uh sure, I uh wanted to ask you if you uh wanted to um gototheballwithme." He stuttered.
"Im sorry, what did you say?"
"Do you want to go to the ball with me?" He said, slowly this time.
"What did she say?? Did she say yes daddy? Did she??" Albus asked this time. "Ofcourse she said yes dummy, they're married!" James said to his brother.
Y/n bit back a smile. "Yes, I'd love to."
Harry felt a blush creep up his neck. "Uh great, that's amazing. Uh what did you want to ask me?"
"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go with me but I guess you beat me to it." She smiled shyly. "I'll be going then, see you soon Harry." She kissed his cheek and walked to her common room.
Harry stood glued to the spot with his hand on his cheek a smile on his face. "You good mate?" Rons voice startled him, snapping him out of his trance. "Im brilliant, never better. I asked y/n to the ball and she said yes! Ron she said yes!" "Good job man, I knew you could do it!" Ron pat his best friend's back.
That night Harry fell asleep with a smile on his face.
"How was the ball dad? Did you have fun?" James asked curiously.
"Oh yes, we had the time of our life."
The day of the ball couldn't come faster. Harry's excitement was uncontrollable. He kept practicing his dance steps and talked to himself in the mirror causing Ron to shake his head and pass comments about Harry being 'whipped'. He didn't mind though, he was whipped.
Finally the day was here. Harry stood at the bottom of the staircase and waited for his date to arrive. He looked around the hall, it was decorated with Christmas decor, snow was charmed to fall, there were icicles on the ceiling and everyone was dressed up in beautiful attire.
As Harry was looking around, he felt a tap on his shoulder. "Hello Harry." It was y/n. She looked absolutely stunning in her dress. Harry forgot how to speak.
"Did you actually forgot how to speak daddy?" Giggled Lily. "It's a saying lils." James explained to his sister.
"You look beautiful." He finally got out. "Thankyou haz, you look dashing yourself." She poked his chest playfully. Harry blushed at the nickname.
"Potter! There you are. We are waiting for the champions. You dance first." Professor McGonagall said. "Wh-what?" Harry stuttered.
"Yes! Now go on we don't have all night." She hurried both the teens.
"I really can't dance, I'm going to make a fool of myself." Harry whispered to y/n. "It's alright, just follow my lead." Harry nodded in relief.
As the champions entered the hall, Harry's grip on y/n:s hand tightened. She squeezed back to comfort him. Everyone's eyes were on them and Harry was feeling self conscious. They stood on stage and Harry placed his hands on y/n's waist and she on his shoulders. "It'll be fine." She mouthed. Harry nodded. His hands were getting clammy and his mouth dried.
The music started playing and all the champions started to waltz to the sweet melody. Both if them swayed to the music and Harry spun her around. He was starting to enjoy it. At last the dance floor was open to all. The attention was off Harry and he felt much better.
Y/n pulled Harry's hands to a more open space on the dance floor and started dancing to the upbeat song. "Dance with me!" She laughed. Harry looked at her and smiled. They both danced badly at the songs, having the time of their life.
Soon they left the dance floor to go and have some refreshments. "You know, I thought you'd turn me down." Harry said sheepishly. "Why would you think that?" Y/n asked curiously. "Because I heard you turned down 5 boys in the same week and I thought you'd turn me down too." "I turned down the other boys because I wanted to go with you." She placed a hand on his cheek.
"I really like you y/n. Im glad we came together." Harry whispered, his face moving closer to hers, staring into her eyes. "I really like you too haz. Alot." She closed the gap between them.
It was blissful. Harry didn't feel the butterflies that others say happen on your first kiss, it felt like coming home, it felt right. It was perfect. When they pulled away Harry realised that he had found the one he wanted to be with forever.
"Would you like to be my girlfriend?" Harry asked her. "Definitely." Y/n said kissing him once again.
"Ewww." Gagged all the children when Harry mentioned that they kissed. "Daddy has the cooties." Albus said in disgust. "I think it's cute." James said proudly. Harry laughed and ruffled his hair.
"What's going on here?" Y/n entered the room. "Daddy was telling us about the Yule ball!" Lily exclaimed. "Was he now?" Y/n said smiling at her family. "It truly was a great experience. Maybe when you go to Hogwarts you'll have one too!"
"Alright it's time for bed now. Let's get you tucked in." Harry clapped his hands. James settled himself on the bed and Harry kissed his forehead and shit the door. He tucked Albus while y/n tucked lily.
Shutting the door, Harry pulled his wife toward him. "I love you. You've given me three lovely children and the best life I could ever imagine. You stood by md through everything. I don't deserve you." He kissed her forehead.
"Oh haz, you have gone through so much you deserve everything and more and you make me the happiest woman alive. I love you so much." She kissed his lips.
Just like the day of the yule ball, this kiss felt right. Harry was home and he never wanted to leave.

If you want to be added/removed lemme know! Feedback is always welcomed, love you lots and be nice to yourself my bbies ;))
You rushed up the stairs in a race to see who got into bed first. Sy seemed like a million miles away as you squealed when you face planted into the fresh bed sheets. It smelled like the clean lavender, and a mix of other florals and musks Sy used for soap, it was honestly your favorite smell besides the man himself.
“I won and you lose!” You sang out after you rolled to your back.
Sy exaggerated a panting breath as he leaned on the doorframe to your shared bedroom. He had his arm tucked around his gut making you giggle as he took a deep breath.
“You’re just too fast bug.” He exhaled, “Way too fast for this old man.”
“Why thank you! I practice very hard.” You giggled, tilting your head to the side to watch Sy rolling his eyes with a chuckle.
You snickered a small laugh and groaned while you sat up. Sy met you on the bed with his own groaning, roughly sitting on his side of the bed making you bouce at his weight.
“Now, its time for bed. Get your pj’s on and go brush your teeth.” He said, leaning to you and giving you a soft kiss on your forehead.
You nodded in agreement, standing up and doing what he politely commanded. You picked a oversized shirt from your dresser, a pair of sleep shorts and quickly changed to meet Sy in the bathroom. You both brushed your teeth in silence, softly shoving eachother teaseingly, Sy poking your sides to make you giggle and you knocking his knees to see if he’d fall or maybe do it back.
When you made it back into the bedroom Sy had you lay down and helped you put your soothing lotion on before tucking the both of you under the covers. He had turned off the lights and pulled you close to his chest and whispered his i love you’s.
Before you completely settled down, you searched around for the grey creature you snuggled with every night. He wasn’t between yours and Sy’s pillows, nor between the bed and wall. You pulled Sy’s heavy arm off of you and sat up to look at the end of the bed, soon crawling to the edge to lean down to look under the bed.
“Baby girl, what are you doin’?” Sy groveled out, his eyes still closed but listening to you roll and pat around.
“Daddy I lost him.” You mumbled out as you moved around the totes under the bed, just in case your manatee made his way down there.
“Oh.” Sy deadpanned.
You frowned your brows and slowly sat up, looking at your daddy with your eyes slanted. “Oh?”
“Yeah I think he’s in the wash.” Sy nervously chuckled, shrugging as he scratched his beard.
He braced himself on his elbow as he leaned into it to see you more clearly. Sy tried not to laugh at your try hard mean face contort into shock.
“You what?! Daddy!” You scrambled off the bed quickly then dashing out of the bedroom.
“Man down! Man down!” You screamed as you bounced down the stairs and ran into the laundry room.
Sy came into the laundry room soon after you with his heart squeezing in his chest as you sat in front of the washer, watching your poor manatee’s face popping up every now and then through the glass of the washer.
You sniffled quietly, “Manatee down Daddy.”
Sy chuckled at your joke.
“Baby it’s gonna be okay. He’s a sea cow, that means he knows how to swim! He’ll be out in the morning.” Sy tried his hardest to reassure you, but it just made you sniffle and cry louder.
“Yeah but not in soapy water! And I didn’t get to say bye!” You pouted, rubbing your cheeks and nose with the sleeve of your shirt.
“Oh baby,” Sy sighed, crouching down to you, “I promise he’ll be okay. I’m sorry I forgot to tell you he was going in the wash.” He apologized sincerely, Sy really hated seeing you so upset.
Even though he saw this as a really small ordeal, he knew that this meant more to you than him, and he also knew you were probably more upset because you’re tired. Sy was very glad you didn’t freak out too much and opened the washer door while it was still running; that would have been a handful.
“C’mon sweet angel.” He said, standing up straight with your hand in his.
You cried weakly as you hesitated standing up. The thought of your manatee being all alone made you cry harder, you fruitlessly pulled away from Sy. You refused to leave your best friends side through such a tramatic time.
Sy tried to understand your frustration, but he also had never had a bond with something so small— honestly he didn’t like the stuffed animal, the thing was old and lost its cuteness the moment it got more snuggles than him. Before he snapped at you, he sighed softly with a long exhale. You tucked your chin between your knee caps, arms wrapped around your shins and watched the lit numbers above the door handle, seeing that there was still a long way to go.
“Pooh bear, lady bug, my sweet little baby,” Sy listed off all your pet names, hoping to intice you to come with him. “Honey it’s already passed our bedtime— a nap tomorrow won’t even fix the lack of sleep.”
Your only response to him was a growl, a small chest grumbling growl. Sy shifted back, and blinked as he crossed his arms over his broad chest.
“Now I would really hate to believe you just did that. Do my ears fail me?”
Your eyes widened in surprise of him hearing it. You dared to repeat your actions, you thought to just keep yourself quiet as you shrunk in your spot. Sy nodged his knee against your shoulder, pushing hard enough to rock you.
“I’m waiting little bear.” He spoke lowly with a small joke but the tone still left a lingering shiver of fear.
“Sorry Daddy.” You whispered softly, biting your lip as you pushed yourself up to walk to him.
You came to him and raised your arms to wrap around him for an apology hug, but he stuck out two fingers and pressed it to your chest to stop you. He shook his head with a frown as you pouted.
“You growled at me bug! I ain’t letting the dogs growl at me, what makes you think you can?”
“I said I’m sorry.” You whined, still pouting your lip out.
“I accept that, but you still need to learn little miss.” Sy said, turning his two fingers around; a silent signal.
You pressed down the urge to roll your eyes and groan in difiance. Instead, you let out a whine and listened. You turned around in the door way, facing the white painted frame and clenched your cheeks.
“You clench, it’ll hurt more.” He warned, his eyes watching the bottom of your cheeks relax.
A quick three swats left your bottom stinging. Sy’s big hands could crush anything from their sheer size, and with these spanks, you could tell he didn’t hold back. Your breath shook as you heard Sy grumble proudly, his hand softly rubbing your cheeks. You frowned upon grazing your eyes over the washer one last time before Sy nudged you to the hallway and up the stairs.
Your lip wobbled when the bedroom door closed with a soft click. And as Sy flipped the sheets over to pull himself in, he snickered at your pitiful face.
“Tuck that lil’ lip in baby. No need for that.” Sy spoke softly, watching you from his peripheral as he tucked his pillow under his neck.
You huffed once before you made your way to the bed, the soft, clean sheets inviting you into sleep. Sy’s heavy hand rubbed gentle circles as you laid flat on your tummy, a silent and bratty way to tell him you don’t want to cuddle. Though you knew Sy didn’t care for your small sour attitude; he still rubbed your back and kissed your exposed shoulder with ease and care. With your face deep into your pillow, arms shoved under and Sy’s body heat warming yours, sleep was easy to fall into.
And as Sy heard your soft breathing and felt your body relax, he stayed up until the soft ring of the washer went off and when it did, he slipped his pillow under your chest and belly and traveled down the steps carefully. Before you fully awoke, he quickly swapped loads and made his way back to you.
He would never understand the attachment between you and a replaceable thing, but he would do everything in his power to see your happy face over and over when you woke up with the small manatee under your arm, still warm and the fluff rejuvenated.

Secret’s Out (Steve Rogers x Reader)
Summary: Steve Rogers is a terrible liar.
Warnings: this was rushed (literally came to me in my sleep so im sorry if it’s kinda on the bad side), Bucky and Sam being an iconic duo, nothing bad really happens it’s just humorous.
I’m not gonna lie this is more Bucky & Sam teasing Steve than it is Steve x Reader.
Word Count: 2.1k
Feedback is appreciated! I hope you enjoy!
THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF Heaven is in Your Arms
Steve Rogers is a terrible liar.
Everyone knows. He’s god’s righteous man. He’s America’s golden boy – the perfect soldier. Steve Rogers is many things, but a good liar is not one of them.
His tells were clear as day. He’d advert his gaze, he’d blush a bit, his brows would furrow, or his fingers would tremble slightly. Sometimes he’d completely ignore a question so that he wouldn’t have to provide an answer. Only those who really knew the soldier knew exactly what to look for.
“When can we see this new place?” Bucky had asked one afternoon as Steve stopped by the compound to train. Steve pretended that he didn’t hear his friend as he directed an agent to use their agility against an opponent twice their size. Bucky chuckled a bit.
Sam walked up to the two men after his session in the weight room. His skin glistened with sweat as he put his arm on Bucky’s shoulder. Bucky scowled at him, shrugging his sweaty arm off. “So, Steve, it’s been a year since you moved out. How’s the city life?”
“It’s great.” Steve responded just before he barked instructions to the agents. The other two shared a glance.
“You see, Bucko,” Sam started, “to get Steve to answer you, you gotta ask the right questions.”
“Is that so?” Bucky asked, mockingly.
Sam nodded with a smirk. “You gotta make this man sweat a little.”
“Don’t you two have some reports to finish?” Steve cut in.
“Reports were mandatory?” Bucky asked, his brows shot up in surprise. Steve and Sam frowned a bit and looked at their older friend with concern. “I’m kidding.” (He was not).
“Any sweet ladies in the city that you would like the team to know about?” Sam asked. Steve’s muscles stiffened as his jaw clenched. Sam and Bucky immediately took notice of his reaction. Steve’s silence gave them all the confirmation. “Hmmm… We can give you lady advice, Steve. You know we got you.”
“You guys are as bad as Natasha,” Steve muttered as he shook his head. (Little did they know that their advice wasn’t needed).
The following day was Steve’s day off. He promised you a picnic at the park as his apology for the 5-day mission that turned out to be a week and a half. You wore a thin light blue sweater and he wore his signature civilian get up – compete with the plaid button up and slacks. Of course, he made casual look dapper.
You laid out the blanket and flattened it onto the grass before you sat down. Steve placed the wicker basket in the center of the blanket before he situated himself next to you. He threw you a grin as you opened the basket.
“What’s got you in a happy mood?” You asked him as you pulled out your sandwiches.
He shrugged. “I don’t know… just happy to be here with you.”
“That’s cute, Rogers,” you chuckled.
Steve smirked as you began to eat. “This is great, honestly.” He said, taking a bite into his food. You quirked an eyebrow up at him as you swallowed. “You, me, picnic in the park. City’s not being attacked by aliens.” You laughed. He smiled. He loved hearing you laugh.
“What’s the next threat? Zombies?” You joked.
Steve gave you a teasing look. “That’s confidential.”
“Oh, please tell me it’s zombies. I’ve been binge watching zombie movies and I’m 100% certain I’ll survive.” Steve rolled his eyes as you ranted on about zombie survival 101.
“I’ve fought Nazis, Aliens, Titans – please, please, let it stop there. No zombies,” Steve chuckled.
“Scared, Steve?” You taunted.
He scoffed. “Not when I have a zombie expert by my side, darling.” You teasingly looked away. “Wait, you will be by my side during a zombie apocalypse, right?”
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but – “Steve’s jaw dropped in fake betrayal. You immediately took back your words. “Wait, no! Steve!” You reached over to him, but he snatched his hand away. You gasped. “How rude!”
“You have the audacity to leave me to fend for myself!” Steve pouted.
“Pouting doesn’t look good on you, Stevie.”
He gasped again, a hand flew to his heart. “Now you’re just trying to break my heart, doll.”
“Come here, you big baby,” you rolled your eyes at him as you pulled him to a kiss.
When you pulled away, Steve said, “oh, I think my heart is still broken.” He pulled you back in and smiled into the kiss.
“Oh my!” A woman’s voice gasped. You two broke apart and saw Margaret, your neighbor, strolling around with her yorkie.
“Miss Margaret, it’s pleasure to see you.” You smiled at the woman and she returned it.
“Clearly not as pleasurable as your little moment,” she teased which caused you to blush. You chuckled awkwardly as you looked away. “I’m glad to see you both out and enjoying this lovely day. You know how these millennials are nowadays. Always indoors, playing on their little Instachat and SnapPay.” Steve chuckled at her wording. (Before he had met you, he’d often mix up the social media platforms himself). “Oh, (Y/N), would you be a dear and walk the pup for a bit? I can’t bend down – “
“Oh, I can – “Steve began, but Margaret was very adamant that you were the one to go. Without hesitation, you stood up and took the leash from her. You cooed at the yorkie, who was very excited to see you, as you walked away.
“Now, Stevie,” Margaret said, her tone becoming stern, “have you gotten the ring?” Steve smiled as he admitted, yes. “Do you have it on you?”
“I’ve been waiting for the right time,” Steve confessed.
“Now’s a perfect time if any,” Margaret pushed. “She’s such a sweet girl. You’re a great man. You’ve been together for a while now…”
“I don’t want to ask her at an inappropriate time. I haven’t even decided what to say,” Steve admitted with embarrassment. He was known for his remarkable, inspirational speeches but for some reason he’d become speechless when he tried to propose. Every time he had the opportunity to pop the question, he became a fumbling, babbling mess that he just dropped it altogether. The velvet box he carried in his pocket for months became heavier and heavier.
“Practice, sweetheart.”
Steve sighed as he tried.
In all honesty, they could’ve done better. Hiding out in an inconspicuous van made look even more suspicious. But the two grew impatient and desperate as they parked the black van (minutes after you’ve left to walk the dog).
“What do you see?” Bucky asked Sam who had binoculars pressed up against his eyes.
“He’s talking to an old lady,” Sam muttered. “Oh, my god.”
“What?” Bucky asked, trying to take the lenses but Sam shoved him away.
“He’s asking this old lady to marry him!” Sam screamed. This time Bucky was successful at tearing the binoculars from Sam’s grip.
“What the hell, punk,” Bucky muttered.
“Damn, I knew he had a girl, but I didn’t know he had… a grandma…” Sam laughed. “Steve really took Nat’s ‘get a girl with the same life experience’ thing too seriously. She’s probably been alive as long as you, Bucky.” The two erupted into fits of laughter.
“Sammy, you owe me 10 bucks.”
-=+=-
Steve showed up to the compound the next with a big smile. He had done it. He had actually done it. And you said yes despite his stuttering and ‘um’s. You said yes.
“So, Stevie,” Sam started as Steve began to lift weights. “Anything fun happen on your day off?” Steve didn’t respond.
“Yeah, punk, anything interesting?”
“Actually,” Steve muttered as he lifted the weights with ease, “yeah. Something interesting did happen.”
“Oooh?” Sam stifled his laugh. “Do tell.”
“I will later.” Steve promised.
Nat walked into the gym and frowned at the two men who huddled around Steve. “Are you sharing stories around the campfire or are you working out?” She asked the two.
“Gossiping,” Sam answered.
“Steve walked in with the biggest grin on his face,” Bucky explained to Natasha as he walked over to another machine.
“Oh?” Natasha smirked as she sauntered over to Steve. “This have something to do with a girl?”
“A lady?” Sam asked.
“An old dame, perhaps?” Bucky added. Steve shot him a confused stare before shrugging.
“Perhaps.”
This made Sam and Bucky burst out into laughter again.

You fumbled with the ring as you rode anxiously in the taxi. The ring was dainty and elegant. It wasn’t too flashy (not that it needed to be). It was simple and beautiful – much like the life that you were building together. The man offered you a kind smile through the rearview mirror which you returned. “Avengers Compound, huh?” He asked. “You a recruit or something?”
“Oh no,” you shook your head, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear. “Just visiting someone.”
“Must be one hell of a someone to be working there.” The man laughed. You chuckled.
“He sure is.”
-=+=-
“Why are you calling a meeting?” Tony asked Steve with an exasperated look on his face. He had just returned from a trip to MIT with Pepper. He was clearly tired. “And why aren’t we in the meeting room?”
Steve sighed as he looked towards the front doors. Any second now.
“Steve wants us to meet someone,” Sam explained. He and Bucky shared a look as they both stopped themselves from laughing.
“Cut it out,” Natasha scolded.
“Oh, you’re gonna be laughing, too,” Bucky mumbled. “Just wait.”
Suddenly the entrance opened, and Steve immediately ran towards it. You gave him a nervous look while he gave you an encouraging smile. He took your hand in his as he walked you towards the group. Bucky and Sam immediately stopped snickering.
“Okay, everyone, this is (Y/N).” Steve introduced. Everyone was in a standstill. “She’s my fiancé.” There was a moment of silence as Bucky and Sam tried to piece together their puzzle, only to realize they were looking at the wrong picture the entire time. Unless Steve magically had the Time Stone and reversed your aging, you definitely weren’t the elderly woman in the park.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you!” Natasha finally smiled as she walked up to you and gave you a warm embrace. “He’s kept the details to himself. Not much of a talker.”
You nodded, the nervous smile still dancing on your lips. “So, you’re the reason why Steve left?” Tony asked, abruptly. “Left the compound, I mean.”
You glanced at Steve who shook his head. “Uh, no… I told him to stay. He’s the stubborn one.” Natasha laughed at your response.
“Wait, wait,” Sam said, shaking his head. The confusion still fresh. “That old lady in the park from yesterday? She isn’t who you proposed to? Because I vividly remember seeing you get on one knee and ask her.”
“You were in the park?” Steve asked.
“We both were.” Bucky admitted.
“You proposed to Margaret?” You asked, a laugh escaping you. Steve blushed. “Aw, Stevie!” You gushed as you kissed his cheek. “When you told me you were nervous, I didn’t think you were that nervous.”
“So, Margaret is?”
“Our neighbor,” you laughed.
“She asked you to walk her dog so that she can scold me for not asking already.” Steve confessed to you. “She helped me pick the ring out months ago.”
“Months?” Tony asked, brows rose in surprise. “C’mon, pal, you gotta step up your game.”
“Happy had been carrying around a ring since 2008, sit down, Stark,” Natasha defended. She asked if she could look at your ring. You held up your hand and she marveled at the diamond. “Nice taste, Rogers.”
“Wait,” Steve cut in. “You guys thought I was dating Margaret, my elderly neighbor?”
“Whose old enough to be my grandmother’s grandmother?” You asked.
Bucky and Sam nodded, shamefully. You and Steve laughed. “Why were you guys stalking me?” Steve added, frowning a bit.
“You weren’t answering our questions.” Bucky answered. “We were curious.” Steve opened his mouth, but Bucky pointed at him, accusingly. “Don’t say ‘you could’ve asked’ because we did… You just wanted to keep your life a secret. And you’re a terrible liar.”
Steve gaped at his response and looked at you for your input. You shrugged. “You are a terrible liar, babe.”
“Wow, thanks, darling.” Steve said sarcastically.
“Well, secret’s out.” Sam clapped. “Steve Rogers officially off the market, for good.”
“Hey,” Bucky said, bumping Sam’s shoulder. “You owe me ten dollars.”
Sam shrugged him off. “Man, get off me, you little roach.”

part: two ,,,, next chapter / previous chapter
plot: when a zombie apocalypse breaks out in your town, you’re forced to team up with a group of boys from very different social standards in your school.
genre: fluff, angst, horror i guess?, not really that scary but alright, some funny moments
w/c: 4.2K (was in a writing mood)
warnings: blood, gruesome scenes (kind of really detailed), cursing, everyone hates each other, definitely some major injuries, zombies duh, everyone kinda pining for mc
︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵
"we're alive, you're alive, it's gonna be ok."
usually, when people say those words, everything ends up going completely wrong. the phrase gets jinked and turned over on its head making the situation worse. in your case, that didn't happen. if anything the situation got better somehow.
"after we met in the hall i headed to the gym to get the bat you suggested," beomgyu explains softly. you and him were seated on one of the benches in the locker room.
after what happened earlier with the zombie, you distanced yourself from yeonjun and taehyun who were currently exploring the locker room for other resources. luckily, none of the other zombies outside knew you all were in here so it was safe to say you were in the clear for now.
"actually if it wasn't for you, i'd probably be dead," he laughs looking down at his hands. you noticed there was a lot of blood on them but didn't bother to ask where it came from. after all, you all seemed to be in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. "i could say the same," you chuckle. you honestly don't have to energy to talk but you figure a new face to converse with who isn't someone you despise is nice.
"no but really," he suddenly turns serious. "if it wasn't for you, i would've never gone to the gym in the first place. i probably would've been turned into one of those monsters while in the hallway, unsuspecting." you don't argue with him. if he thinks you saved his life then so be it. "i'm grateful seriously," he mentions softly. you look up at him bewildered, "you're grateful? if anything i'm the one who should be grateful," you laugh a genuine laugh this time hoping to lift the gloomy mood. "if it wasn't for you i would be the living dead right now," you smile bitterly.
you can feel him staring at you but you don't look at him. you don't want this conversation to turn into a battle of who saved who and thankfully he doesn't continue it.
"uh i-i think just last week we were working on a lab together," he scratches the back of his head nervously. you lean back on the bench, "oh yeah, i remember. wow it's crazy how things can change so drastically in a matter of days." you look around the locker room in thought, "i wonder what happened to everyone else, i mean how can something like this happen?" you continue.
he sighs, "i really don't know...like i said, i headed to the gym after we saw each other. everything seemed normal. i was in the batting room looking for a metal bat then i hear the locker room door burst open. i figured the baseball team was about to start practice so i walked out while trying to hide the bat under my shirt." he looks at you sheepishly as you laugh at his attempt at stealing. "well one of the members of the team was in the corner of the locker room just scratching his arm like crazy! i'm talking deep wounds with blood dri-" you cut him off, grimacing. "r-right well, i asked him what happened and all he told me was not to go out there. i was confused so i look into the gym and see people eating each other than coming back to life and doing the same to others."
he closes his eyes but winces as if remembering a bad memory, "it was crazy, i was so starstruck that i didn't even realize the guy from before had already turned. it's a good thing i heard him making those weird noises or else i would've turned too. unfortunately, i had to kill him using the bat." your eyes fall on the bruised and bloody bat by his side. it must've taken beomgyu a lot of hits to figure out where exactly to aim to kill. "how did that other one that attacked me get in?" you ask.
"well apparently the one that attacked me wasn't the only one to come in earlier. he must've been hiding or something," beomgyu sighs, looking at you again. "look y/n, im really glad yo-"
"we didn't find anything useful other than the bats and some paddings," yeonjun strolls into the main locker room with taehyun looking dejected behind him. you glance at them then look back at the ground. you're not sure why you're angry at them, it's not like they could've done anything at the moment. suddenly the sad realization hits you: yeonjun is a self-centered asshole who doesn't care about anyone and taehyun barely knows you so why would he risk his life.
beomgyu mutters something silently to himself but you don't hear it. "so what are we gonna do now? we can't just stay here forever," yeonjun sits on the bench opposite of yours with his arms perched on his knees. you stay silent, not really wanting to talk anymore. beomgyu ruffles his hair, "let's see... we have bats and the baseball teams protective gear somewhere around here but I don't think going around killing all the zombies in that gym is a good idea. we will definitely not make it out alive."
taehyun sighs angrily, "damn it, we can't just stay here. we're bound to get hungry or worse; wanna use the bathroom. we need to find a way out to find more people. i still believe we're better in numbers." he notices you haven't pitched any ideas yet so he looks at you expectingly.
when you don't answer, yeonjun groans, "cmon y/n how long are you gonna keep acting like this?" you look up and see he's looking at you with a bored expression. "look sorry we couldn't help or whatever but honestly what did you expect us to do? no offense but you're acting like a child." you don't wanna give him the satisfaction of knowing that what he said got to you so you bite your lip and glance at the ground.
"yeonjun when you put 'no offense' in front of an offensive statement it doesn't make it any less offensive,” beomgyu rolls his eyes. "plus, they almost died. do you really not have any empathy oh wait i forgot you're a selfish jackass who probably wouldn't think twice about throwing us to the wolves." in all the time you've known choi beomgyu, which is a couple of months roughly, you don't think he's ever stood up for himself or others for that matter.
"beomgyu," you warn silently. you guys already have enough problems as it is, you don't need a fight breaking out. "oh look who's getting bold," yeonjun chides. "you save one person and suddenly you're the hero of the story," he rolls his eyes. "news flash, y/n doesn't like you."
beomgyu's eyes widen and you see his ears turn red. "shut up yeonjun," he says through gritted teeth. "oh yeah y/n by the way beomgyu has an embarrassingly massive cru-" before yeonjun can finish his sentence he's on the floor with beomgyu on top of him.
"guys!" taehyun shouts. he wanted to break up the fight before the zombies outside were alerted. none of the boys on the floor were listening though and you had a huge wave of deja vu hit you.
unfortunately, this wasn't like the last fight you witnessed because yeonjun was far stronger than his opponent this time. although beomgyu had the advantage of throwing the first punch, yeonjun had the advantage of actually being able to fight. "y/n doesn't like you! they'll never like you no matter what you do!" yeonjun shouts in between punches. "fuck you!" beomgyu retorts, trying to shield himself. you see taehyun conflicted on whether or not he should break up the fight since his wrist is still damaged.
"guys stop!" at this point, both boys are in a blind rage. both shouting at each other and throwing wild punches. you all hadn't heard the banging on the locker room door. until it was too much to handle. the lock was busted open in a flash causing all of you to whip your heads towards the door.
the force of all the zombie's dog piling on the door after hearing the commotion of the living on the other side must've been too much for the door to handle. "run run RUN!" taehyun grabs you and bolts towards the second doors of the locker room leading towards the girl's side. you didn't even have time to look back and see if yeonjun and beomgyu had time to get off the floor and run because before you know it you're in the hallway again.
"we have to get to the first room we see," taehyun pants. you both run past all the strangler zombies in the hallway and you're glad taehyun takes the brunt of the force. since he's the one that picked up some of the equipment his arms are paddled so it's fairly easy to take some force from the zombies jumping at a chance to bite him. you run close behind him grasping his hand tighter than you'd ever held anything.
you suddenly remember all the times you'd scream at a character in a horror movie when they trip and fall. sympathy rushes through you because it definitely wasn't easy.
"in here!" taehyun rushes towards the nearest room and barges through it. it took a bit of force since there seemed to be stuff blocking it from the inside but you both managed to get through it before the horde caught you. as soon as you get in the room you heave for air, you'd seriously never run that fast in your life. you turn around towards the now-closed door and to your dismay, beomgyu and yeonjun are not there.
"damn it we got split up," you mumble through deep breaths. you sincerely hope they're both ok. you turn back around but before you could get a chance to discuss with taehyun you see he has his hands up in surrender. "wha-" that's when you hear a gun click.
your eyes widen when you see soobin appear from the shadows of the room with a gun in his hands. that's when you realize where you are, the principal's office.
"soobin!" you're confused as to why he has a gun pointed towards you guys but you're glad he's alive. "get any closer and you'll end up like the principal," soobin spits. you finally look towards the floor where the principal's desk is located and see what looks like a body but it's unmoving.
"oh my god," you mumble. "dude what the hell," taehyun steps forward and soobin turns the gun towards him. "get away from me! i don't know if you're infected or not!" you're very worried because soobin looks like he's not mentally capable of wielding a gun at this moment.
you finally survey him and the room. his hair is an absolute mess and he has more blood on his face and body then you remember. his clothes look pretty normal except for the scratches and blood on them. they didn't seem to go that deep just enough to rip his clothes. the room on the other hand was a total mess. the bookshelf was on the floor and the chair in front of the principal's desk was flipped over, there were books all over the floor and the couch that was used for lounging was turned upside down. that's probably what was blocking the door.
"soobin," you warn. he points the gun at you. "we're not infected." you hope you sound calm. you don't want to give him a reason to think you're a zombie. "there's no way," he mumbles. "everyone's dead! there's no way you guys made it out alive."
"it's true!" taehyun encourages. "yeonjun, beomgyu, y/n and i are alive from what we know." soobin eyes you both, "where are they then?" you sigh dejectedly, "we got split up."
"look, we promise we're not infected! we haven't gotten bit or scratched or anything, please put the gun down," you step closer to him and when he doesn't wave it at you you grab it from him and throw it on the floor.
soobin steps back towards the wall and sinks down to the floor holding his head in his hands. "damn it! i hate this!" he mumbles. "what the hell happened in here?" taehyun asks. he walks towards the principal's body and cringes.
soobin sighs, "he was already one of those monsters when i got here, it was a struggle trying not to get eaten but i found a gun hidden under the desk. i guess it's a gun meant for self defense so that's what i used it for." you look down, processing his words. he was in here alone with a zombie. you're amazed at his ability to stay alive in such a tight situation.
"do you have any wounds, we have a first aid kit," you motion towards the bag on taehyun's back. he gives you a grateful smile, "thanks." you take the bag from taehyun while he watches you closely. he feels weird but he can't explain it. he doesn't want to watch you patch soobin up but he doesn't say it out loud. he decides to busy himself with looking around mindlessly instead of thinking about that.
in the meantime, you kneel down to help soobin. he watches you take out everything from the first aid kit. "sorry," he bites his lip. you chuckle dryly. this is one of those times when soobin looks and acts soft. you've only interacted with him a couple of times before with the extracurricular activities and fundraisers your school held. you knew he could be nice when he wanted to, he just got into fights a lot.
seeing him up close made you realize why so many people in your school fawned over him. he had looks that could rival yeonjun's. the only thing differentiating them was that soobin was actually kind of nice. "it's fine, you were scared," you say softly. instead of responding he opts for watching you silently. he's seen you around school and during the fundraisers and whatnot but never thought much about it. were you always this cute? sure, you had remnants of blood on your face but it didn't seem to take away from your looks.
he shakes his head at the thought. he shouldn't be thinking that about you, he barely knows anything about you other than your name and that you were seemingly willing to go out your way to help people. you give him a confused face and he just looks down at the ground. you cant tell what he's thinking and don't really dwell on it. you wet the cotton ball in your hand with alcohol, "this might sting." he doesn't say anything seemingly lost in his thoughts.
"god, why are these boys so weird towards you," you think to yourself. you gently dab the cotton ball on the cut on his face and he flinches violently. his hand flies up to grab your wrist and he looks at you with wide eyes. "i told you it was gonna sting," you shake his hand from you and sit back waiting for him to regain himself. "sorry i didn't hear you. i wasn't ready for that," he groans, cracking his neck. "ok now."
after you finish patching soobin up, which including him flinching a lot and you telling him to calm down, you let him rest on the floor. taehyun has been seated on top of the principal's desk this whole time just spaced out, looking out of the window. you join him but wince when you see someone on the floor getting eaten. you turn back to him but he's still looking outside.
"i don't think calling for help is gonna work," he says emotionlessly. you sit on the desk beside him. "hey don't say that, there could be people alive out there." you sound like you're trying to reassure yourself more than him. "what if there's no one?" he turns to look at you. "this is so messed up y/n." you see the unshed tears hidden in his eyes and you wanna comfort him but also don't wanna make it awkward. you opt for taking his damaged hand in yours and rubbing it with care.
"i know the situation is really messed up and everything but so far we've managed to save like three people including ourselves. if we keep going maybe we'll be safe and find anyone out there that can help us," he watches you trace his bandaged wrist like you're in a trance. a sudden realization hits him out of nowhere: you're cute... and super caring. he bites his lip, changing the subject, "sorry for not doing anything, back then."
you look up at him and give him a tight lip smile, "it's fine. i guess i might've been expecting too much from you guys, i mean we didn't even have anything on us. beomgyu was the only one with a weapon." you're not mad anymore since he did manage to get you both to safety afterward. you sigh, letting go of his hand. you don't notice him visibly deflate. "i hope yeonjun and beomgyu are ok. i didn't get to see what happened after the door busted open."
taehyun lays back on the desk and covers his face with his arm, "i'm sure they're fine." you hear a groan from somewhere in the room and you flinch, instinctively shuffling closer to taehyun. he bites back a smile from under his arm. you look around and sigh when it's just soobin trying to stand up again. "what are you guys doing?" he goes to sit next to you but there isn't any more space on the desk since you're sitting and taehyun's laying down. he frowns and goes for the principal's seat instead.
"just looking outside, feeling hopeful...others hopeless," you smile at him, hoping to lift the mood. soobin hums, spinning around in the swivel chair, "i'm pretty hopeless." you frown and suddenly soobin feels guilty that he made you upset. "i mean i'm just saying that since i saw a bunch of innocent people in the hall get eaten alive, that's all. there might be some hope outside of the school."
there's a silence that falls upon you three and you're not sure what to say. thankfully soobin speaks up and he hopes it doesn't sound awkward when he says it, "how long have you two been...together?" this causes taehyun to sit up, "what do you mean by that?" soobin raises his hands in surrender. "i was just wondering when is it that you two met up."
"yeonjun and i found him in the nurse's office. that's when everything went to shit," you mumble. "yeonjun? that prick is still alive?" soobin scoffs. "hey, he may be an asshole but his plan got us out of that office," you chide. taehyun stares at you, "you're standing up for him when he called you childish and started that fight?" he says quietly.
"what's wrong with standing up for yeonjun? i know he's a dick but i think he might actually be helpful. he could've left us back at the nurse's office but he decided to stick around. that's commendable, i think," you don't even know why you're suddenly sticking up for him when he hasn't really given you a reason too. maybe it's because you feel bad that he's not actually here to defend himself.
"great another one," you hear soobin mumble under his breath. "another what?" you narrow your eyes at him. "another person that only exists to suck up to yeonjun. here i was thinking i might actually like you," he chuckles flatly. "excuse me?" you can feel embarrassment and anger bubbling up in you.
soobin and taehyun look at you with wide eyes. "let me get one thing straight, i don't live to suck up to anyone, especially with the way things are. if you have a problem with me sticking up for people who aren't here to defend themselves then i'll leave. i don't care if you like me or not," with that you walk up to the door. the hallways seem pretty clear so you go to open the door.
"y/n," taehyun whisper shouts at you. "don't go out there alone, i'll go with you." he frantically moves to pack up his bag once again. you see soobin move to stand up and walk over to you too but you remember what he said. "i don't want anyone of you around me, i'll find other people on my own. wouldn't want you to think i'm sucking up to everyone who tries to help me."
"that wasn't what i meant, i just- fuck y/n- wait," he reaches out towards you but you close the door quickly. you start walking down the hallway, not really knowing where to go. "this was a very bad idea," you think to yourself. so far there's no zombies in the hall you're currently on but you can't shake the fear that's lingering behind you.
you figure taehyun and soobin didn't follow after you or just didn't get a chance to see where you went. you kind of hope they stay put at the principal's office for when you come back with more people. you're pulled from your thoughts quite literally when you're yanked into the janitor's closet.
you go to scream but a hand covers your mouth. you blink a couple of times for your eyes to adjust to the dimness of the tiny space. this is a tiny closet only meant for brooms and mops so your body is very pressed up against whoever is in here with you.
you look up and see yeonjun smiling down at you. he has blood all over his face from the fight that kind of looks like he tried to wipe it off but failed. "oh my god yeonjun," you whisper. you're not sure why your being quiet but you don't want any potential zombies passing by to hear you two.
"hey y/n," he whispers. "how the hell are you alive?" you ask him. "well considering the fact that taehyun is a baseball player which makes him a fast runner, beomgyu and i couldn't keep up so we went into hiding in the girls locker room since it was dark. the zombies followed you guys so once we heard no more commotion we left. beomgyu didn't wanna hang around me so he went around tryna find you." yeonjun rolls his eyes at this.
"you should've stuck with him asshole. im worried about his wellbeing," you bite your lip in worry. you really don't want anything to happen to anyone you've met so far. yeonjun keeps looking down at you, "y/n."
you look back up at him and see his face riddled with worry, "am i really that unbearable, that people would rather die than be around me?" you shake your head viciously. "what? don't say that! i mean sure you're a dick but anyone can change."
you both don't break eye contact for a moment and it kind of starts to feel stuffy in the closet. yeonjun suddenly speaks up, "do you like beomgyu?" your eyes widen and you start to feel heat rise up your neck and cheeks. "n-no, well i don't know...yet. i-i really don't know. i guess he and i are friends and maybe if we talked mor-" in that moment of you stuttering over your words, yeonjun leans down, as best as he can in such a tight space, to place a gentle kiss on your lips.
your eyes widen and you realize you aren't really doing anything so you decide to kiss back. you're so confused right now but decide to let the moment flow. he nibbles on your bottom lip and you let your mouth drop open for him to use his tongue. he somehow manages to push his body closer to yours and wraps his arms around your waist. the kiss isn't rough or needy and is nice but it feels wrong and weird, especially given the circumstances.
you pull away and lick your lips. yeonjun tries to chase your lips but you push him back gently. "why are you kissing me," you ask him shyly. "do you even like me?" this is the part where he hurts you. you wouldn't say you had strong feelings for yeonjun but you did think he was good looking. even though he was mostly mean to everyone you hoped he would change and be a good link to the tiny group you all formed.
"i think so, i don't really know yet to be honest," he answers you. you nod and sigh, satisfied with his answer towards you for now. "sorry for what i said earlier. you weren't being childish, i'm sorry i couldn't help you back then, and im sorry for starting that fight."
you reassure him that its fine but you still feel a weird pit in your stomach worrying about beomgyu. you hope he's ok.

It was a good Saturday. The trollhunters trio had gotten an early start on training, and thus Blinky had released them for an early lunch. It was a particularly successful day, with Claire really getting the hang of the shadow staff, so they decided to not make poor Jim cook for once and go out for a treat. And Toby really wanted a sandwich from Benoit’s.
They opted to walk to downtown instead of biking, as a way to cool down. Plus, it would give them time to digest their food on the walk back, before they returned to training once again. Although that was more of a problem for Jim and Toby, since Blinky wanted Claire to start reading a certain book this afternoon. She’d be in the library, quietly sitting while the boys go back to running around and fighting. The spring flowers had just started returning to Arcadia Oaks. The flowerbeds that decorated town added a cheery air to the day. Happily, Jim ran up in front to kick a pebble as they came up towards the bistro around the corner. He stopped in his tracks.
“Is Y/n’s boss flirting with her?”
The other two teens came around Jim to see. Y/n laughed at Douxie’s dumb joke and put her hand on his shoulder.
“And is she flirting back?” Jim asked incredulously.
Claire didn’t take this the same way Jim did. “Aww, that’s so cute.”
“No it’s not. It’s weird. And wrong.” Jim asserted.
“What are you talking about,” Claire lowered her brows with an annoyed tone.
“No, no. he’s right. Y/n doesn’t flirt. Or date. I’m not even sure she crushes.”
Claire shook her head, “That can’t be true, TP. She’s like, old. You two just didn’t notice it.”
“Oh, no, we noticed it. She went to every school dance alone, even senior prom.” Toby added. “It was kind of sad to be honest.”
“Remember that time that big movie star came into town? He was the prettiest guy I’d ever seen, and Y/n was just like ‘eh he’s okay, I guess’. We literally had a fight over that one.” Jim chuckled.
“I literally can’t imagine Y/n in a relationship. She’s just too all over the place.”
Claire rolled her eyes and gestured her hands towards the scene in front of them. “Well, she seems to be doing just fine now.”
Jim didn’t know why, but this made him a little huffy. “Whatever. It’s just a crush, anyways. She’ll get over it soon enough.”
Douxie leaned over to give Y/n a quick peck goodbye before he headed into Mr. Benoit’s to start his shift. He had swapped shifts with one of his coworkers for the day, so he could have the evening off. Y/n headed back to the bookstore. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she left, smiling to herself. The three trollhunters still stood right where they were, staring.
“I don’t think it’s just a crush, Jimbo.”
Jim was outraged. How. How was this happening. He could understand her not telling her family, their mother could be a bit nosy sometimes when it came to her daughter’s personal affairs. But his sister had often said she didn’t have enough time to pursue a love life whenever their mother probed her. There was no way she just started having said time. Right? It was curious, too, that out of all the people she could have chosen in Arcadia, she chose Douchey. That guy had girls fawning over him wherever he went. There was no way Y/n was into that.
Come to think of it, Y/n had been acting really strange ever since she had gotten that job at the bookstore. It was so easy to make her laugh now. She was actually wearing her hair in different styles instead of her signature. She actually enjoyed Barbara’s cooking. Or at least complimented it a lot now. Still a baffling action nonetheless. It was if she was experiencing the side effects of something. And that bookstore reeked of magic. Magic had the power to drive people out of their minds. He’d had plenty of first-hand experience with that. This whole situation was fishy.
“Well, I think it’s so cute they’re together now.” Claire said cheerily. He loved her but she wasn’t exactly the best when it came to making judgement calls. Hell, the fact that she was dating him after all he’s put her through was enough proof of that.
“Well, I think its magic.” Jim deadpanned.
“What.” Claire snapped.
“He’s got a spell on her! Some sort of enchantment. A charm!”
Toby was too tired from training today to deal with this. “I’ll agree, he does have charm, have you had him as a waiter? But not the kind of charm you’re implying here, Jim.”
“Douxie is my magic teacher, Jim. I promise, he’s a really nice guy.”
“Nope. There’s no way my sister would be into a guy, let alone a guy like,” He tried to find the right words but just sputtered, “Like that!” he motioned to poor Doux, who was changing the specials sign out front. Douxie was one of those bistro employees who always got asked to draw up the sign because his calligraphy was so good. Doux had to admit, his handwriting was messy compared to Merlin’s standards, but to Mr. Benoit’s he was a calligraphy god.
Toby looked Doux up and down. “I don’t know man, Y/n is kind of alternative.”
“Yeah, who do you think helps me dye my hair all the time? And sneaks me into concerts?” Claire added.
“Okay. I get that. But he’s just not good enough for her.” Jim said through gritted teeth.
Toby sighed. “Then who is?” he asked wearily.
Jim got defensive. “I don’t know! A prince, maybe. One that’s in line to be king. Not one of those waiting-for-a-brother-to-die ones, but a real one.” He nodded his head like any of that was realistic. “Definitely not just some wizard who works in a bookstore.”
“She’s just some wizard who works in a bookstore, though.”
There was no getting through to Jim. “Think about it guys, my sister, suddenly getting cozy with a magic man? Bushigal. She’s under a spell. I’m going to fight him.”
“No, no you’re not,” Claire asserted, “You’re going to have lunch like we planned AND you’re going to be civil.” Claire and Toby both grabbed one of his arms and dragged him towards the bistro.
***
The hostess guided them to the table. Claire sat across from Jim and Toby. They were handed the menus. Claire showed interest in the lunch specials while Toby flipped to the sandwiches. Jim just brooded while he stared unblinking into the first page. And by chance, and by the fact that this scene would be boring and or pointless if not, Douxie was the waiter for said table. After handing off the check to one of his other tables, he waltzed over to the trio, happy to see his protégé.
“Ello lads, how’s it going? How’d that test go today, Claire?” Douxie ruffled her hair. Jim narrowed his eyes at the sight.
“Horrible! I bombed it for sure!”
Toby rolled his eyes, “You say that about every test, Claire, and then it turns out you aced them.”
“No I mean it this time, TP. I didn’t even finish the last three questions. It was so bad!”
“Yeah, okay, I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Douxie chuckled. Oh to have the problems of these youngsters. Claire and Toby got into some sort of glare match where they both just made more and more aggressive funny faces at each other. Both finally conceded and they fell into giggles. Douxie was glad to see Claire having so much fun, but he noticed someone else at the table who was not having said fun. His apprentice Claire’s boyfriend, his master’s champion, and his darling Y/n’s brother, looking like his dog ate his homework, or whatever teenagers got angry about these days.
“Cheer up, lad.” Doux grinned at Jim, “Hangry? I get that. You look like you could use a good meal.”
“Well strangely I am in a cafe”
Claire kicked Jim under the table. He tried his best to stifle the grunt of pain. “Don’t mind Jim, he’s a tad grumpy from a bad training session. And we’ll take waters all around.” She smiled. Doux hurried off to go get their glasses.
In the end, Toby couldn’t pick a sandwich. He had three favorites and couldn’t decide between them yet. Jim and Claire had his back. They both got one of them and he got the third. Then they would all share the halves. A good plan. And it was a delicious one. Toby was thankful for his partners.
***
After finishing up training and walking Claire home, Jim and Toby went their separate ways. Toby had promised his Nana he’d go with her and her boyfriend to see a play in the next town over. Jim had promised his mother he’d be home for a family dinner. He wasn’t able to be home in time to cook, so this was going to be a roulette wheel when it came to food. He was betting on Y/n. As he came to the front door, he cracked it first and smelled the air before going inside as to make sure his candid reaction wouldn’t be bad. The aroma coming from the house was heavenly. Alright, Y/n. Jackpot.
Jim swung the door open wide as he strutted in. Everyone was in the kitchen, it looked like. He put his bag up and called to his family that he was home. Which was met with the two voices he had expected, but one he hadn’t. And it was a voice he didn’t want to hear right now. Douxie. Hisirdoux fucking Casperan. In his house. In his kitchen. In his territory.
Jim immediately felt his muscles tense up. He took a deep breath and put on his best fake smile before heading into the kitchen. Y/n was sautéing something over the stove. Barbara was stirring something which meant that she had insisted on helping and Y/n had done the equivalent of giving your younger sibling a game controller that wasn’t plugged in. The offending wizard was leaning over the bar counter from the other side, chatting away as if he had any reason to be here.
Once Y/n caught sight of Jim, she bubbled. “Jim! How was hiking? You three have fun?” she knew where he actually spent his Saturdays but they had to keep up the rouse for their mom. While Y/n particularly didn’t care for the lying, she also agreed with Jim that some things are best kept from worrisome mothers. Barbara gave her enough shit already for her frequent homecomings from bars and shows in the wee hours of the morning with scrapes and bruises. If their mother knew about Jim’s marginally more dangerous late-night escapades, she might actually have a nervous breakdown.
“Oh yeah, it was great. We saw a deer. It had a baby with it.”
“Majestic.” She turned and gestured to the man at the counter, “You remember Douxie, right?”
“Of course,” Jim said through gritted teeth forced into a smile. “In fact we just saw each other at the bistro earlier today.”
A timer went off. Y/n expressed her delight that something in the oven was done. Barb got some plates out of the cabinet, while Y/n pulled the main course out of the oven. She handed Jim the plates and silverware and sent him to go set the table. Jim supposed this was better than having to talk to Douxie. Until Douxie insisted on helping him. Great.
“So, Jim, I’ve heard a lot about you-”
“I’m sure you have.” Jim cut him off. Douxie was a bit confused, but figured he was still grumpy like he was earlier at the bistro. He’d leave the moody teen alone then. Perhaps he be in a better mood after getting some food in him and spending time with his family. Doux would try for conversation again then.
Jim did not get any less grumpy, to Douxie’s dismay. And Y/n’s. Y/n really needed both her family members to like her boyfriend. They were all each other had, and any strife would put a strain on their tiny closely-knit family unit. Y/n loved Douxie, and she wanted Jim and Barbara to love him to. To accept him. It would help put a validity to her feelings. If they liked him then she had made the right choice. She could never be with someone her loved ones hated. And as a bonus, it would be nice if she could give Douxie the family he never had. He deserved as much.
Luckily, Barbara had taken quite a liking to Arcadia’s most charming waiter. Jim however, was subtly hostile. Or at least he thought he was being subtle. It was very apparent to the other three at the table. As Douxie was animatedly telling Barb some story that she was laughing very hard at, Y/n turned to glare at her brother. Jim tried to feign innocence. Y/n rolled her eyes and put some more salad on her plate. Jim noticed the bracelet on her wrist. Funny, she had never been one for jewelry before. But she started wearing this one everyday right around the time she started working at the bookstore. Interesting.
Douxie finished up his story and turned his attention to Jim. He’d try once again to engage the trollhunter. He knew how important this was to Y/n. Douxie was going to make this little man like him if it was the last thing he did.
“I saw the school play you were in a couple weeks ago, Jim. You were quite the actor, and I know Shakespeare’s tough. Have you ever thought of going into it professionally? Claire’s told me she wants to. You two could be one of those celebrity power couples.”
Jim just offered a short thanks that was less hostile but not exactly enthusiastic either. Well, at least Doux was getting somewhere. It’s a start. Y/n was content with this. Jim would warm up to Douxie eventually. It didn’t have to be right away, even if she would have liked that.
After the dinner conversation had died down and the food long gone, Y/n set out to clear the table and clean the kitchen. Barbara also went to help her, but Douxie assured her he’d take care of it. He was a world class waiter after all. He stacked up the plates as Y/n grabbed the dinner dishes. And so the two set off to the world behind the wall, to clean or canoodle or whatever. Jim wasn’t too keen on thinking about it. His mother pulled him into the living room to sit on the couch and preceded to ask him twenty questions about Claire. He was almost happy when the lovebirds came back.
And then his mother made them all play some card game for three hours straight. All while the lovebirds flirted away right in front of them. It was like they had no shame. This guy just had to have Y/n under a spell or something, Jim was sure of it. There was no other explanation. As she giggled at another one of Douxie’s stupid jokes that weren’t even funny, Jim felt sick.
Finally it came time for that douchebag to leave. Jim rolled his eyes at his mother and sister fawning over Doux as he made his way to the door. He slinked over behind them to watch the guy leave and make sure that he left. As Douxie went through the door he gave Y/n a quick peck and said the stupidest line Jim had ever heard. Who does this guy think he is. Once the door was shut and Doux had indeed walked away, Jim scoffed.
“Bet that guy has a bank of pickup lines he’s memorized. There’s no way he came up with that on the fly.”
***
Jim was furious. He fought like a madman during training. Draal was just making it worse by encouraging it; he really liked the kid’s fire today. Draal had no idea what was up with him right now, but Jim was giving it his all. The trollhunter was rarely this aggressive. Blinky looked on as Jim growled and shouted with every strike. He hadn’t seen his son frothing at the mouth like this before. It was glorious. Keep this up and Angor Rot won’t know what hit him.
Claire and Toby were also training, with Arrggh, albeit with not even half as much gusto as Jimbo. They were also a wee bit distracted, trying to wind Jim down from said gusto. He came over to where they were to get some water. Taking this opportunity, Toby tried appealing to him once again.
“Dude, give it a rest, this is just like how you got all pissy about your mom dating Strickler.” Toby was exasperated.
“Y/n can’t date guys, my mother can’t date guys, no men should be frequently invited into our household! No boys allowed! Me and Toby are the only boys allowed!” Jim growled. He stormed off across the keep to go land another hit on Draal.
Blinky blinked. He was taken aback at the hostility from his charge. “So, do either of you have any idea as to what that was about.”
“Right now the winning theory is that this is like, about how heartbroken his mother was when his dad left, so now he doesn’t want that to happen again or something,” Claire sighed. Her teacher really was a good guy. Lonely too. Just like Y/n. They were going to be good for each other. Her boyfriend should be happy for them. Jim took a particularly dirty swipe at Draal. Toby grunted in sympathy. “Or maybe Douxie just poked Arcadia’s most possessive bear.”
***
Jim and Toby were walking downtown, enjoying their free time after a trollhunting mission on this fine Sunday afternoon. That is, until they came in sight of the bookstore. Jim felt that bitter feeling in his stomach again. He knew Y/n wasn’t working today. Douchey would be all alone. Now was his chance to confront this and end it before it got any worse. Toby noticed the malice in his eyes as he stomped towards the bookstore.
“Woah dude, what’re you doing?”
“I’m just going to have a little chat with Mr. Casperan that’s all.”
Toby threw his head back in exasperation. “There no talking you out of this is there?”
“Nope”
The bell jingled as they walked in. The bookshop smelled like Christmas. And Jim was about to try and talk politics with his racist uncle at the dinner table. Douxie came over and greeted them cheerily.
“Good afternoon, lads. Looking for any book in particular?”
“I’m not a part of this. I just happen to be with him physically.” Toby quickly asserted. Douxie quirked a brow at the odd statement. Jim pushed forward aggressively. Doux had the sense to back away from the boy.
“I’m onto you, wizard. Just what did you do to my sister? Did you slip her a love potion? Is that bracelet she’s been wearing charmed?” Jim growled. Toby cringed on the sidelines.
Douxie blinked. “Excuse me?”
“There’s no other explanation for your ‘relationship’. You’ve got to be magicking her. And I won’t just sit here and let it happen. That’s my sister and it’s my job to protect her from creeps like you.”
Douxie took in the boys words, and a deep breath. He tried his best not to sound too defensive and provoke the kid further, “Okay, wow. That’s quite an accusation there, friend.” He moved away from where the boy had backed him into a bookshelf. “You know, out of all that you just implied, the part I think I’m most offended by is the fact that you’d think I’d mess with Y/n’s free will like that.”
Douxie straightened some books on a nearby display. “You know Jim, when it comes to love-” Jim stormed out of the bookstore before Doux could take his lecture any further, grabbing Toby by the arm so he’d follow. Toby mouthed a big ‘I’m sorry’ to Doux as he was pulled out of the store.
***
Jim’s pencil felt abused. He was furiously scribbling the answers to his homework with a heavy hand. He still had a lot of pent up rage, even after accosting poor Doux. After snapping his lead for the seventh time in the hour, Jim decided that switching subjects to Spanish instead of math for a bit might help him calm down. He moved to his bed to start the assigned reading. He laid on his stomach, propping up his head in his hands to see his textbook. His blue eyes perused the paragraphs punctuated by cheesy cartoons. He was halfway through the third page when a knock came at his door. Taking a deep breath, he called for whoever it was to let themselves in. His sister stepped into view.
Jim ran a hand through his dark hair. Here comes the scolding. He didn’t even have to ask if Y/n had heard about what he’d done today. If Douxie himself hadn’t told her then Tobes certainly did. Jim wasn’t proud of it, now that it was all said and done. He knew he deserved whatever Y/n was about to dish out. He sat up and crisscrossed his legs. She pulled his desk chair over and sat backwards in it so that she was facing him on the bed.
That’s it. No scolding came. She just sat and looked at him, neutral faced. He squirmed at the nothing. She lifted up the coffee mug in her hands and took a slow sip, not breaking eye contact with him. Jim began to sweat. He tried to avoid her gaze by looking down at the floor, but he could still feel her eyes upon him. Sighing, he had to admit defeat.
“Okay, so I do feel bad about what I said to Douxie today.” He looked back up to meet Y/n’s eyes. She raised a brow. “It was wrong of me to jump to conclusions like that, I’m sorry.”
Y/n appeared to be satisfied by that. A smile spread across her face and she nodded to him. She stood up, and ruffled his hair on her way out. Still refusing to break her silence, she motioned for him to follow her downstairs.
***
Y/n set her coffee cup down on the table. She pulled another mug out of the cabinet for Jim. Grabbing the coffee pot from its nest under the coffeemaker, she filled Jim’s mug and topped off her own. Sliding the mug across the table to Jim, she sat down. Jim could smell the aromas of the several colorful dishes baking that he could see through the screen of the oven door. Strange, it was already half past nine. There was cinnamon in the air, so at least one of those dishes contained dessert. Jim’s stomach growled at the thought.
“You know I’m not the one you should have to apologize to, Jimbo.”
“I know, I know,” He looked at the ground, “I’ll go talk to him tomorrow after school.”
Silence filled the kitchen again. Y/n took a sip of coffee. This conversation was going to be hard. She wasn’t particularly looking forward to it. She opened her mouth to speak, but stopped. She took yet another long sip of coffee to figure out a good enough way to word this. She took a breath.
“So, uh- listen Jimbo. I- I know it’s tough, ya know, with it just being us. And our family’s tight because of it. But you can’t get so protective that new people can’t join it. Or even try.”
Jim took a breath, “I know it’s just, I-, what happens when we, when you, get so attached to him, and he decides that he doesn’t care for you anymore. When he turns out to be bad. When he just disappears. Like- like they do.”
“Oh, Jim,” She reached across the table for his hand. “That’s my risk to take, Jim. I fully recognize that what I’m doing is hazardous and I could get hurt really bad. But I still chose to do it. I choose it every day. We all do, when we fall in love.”
Jim took a sip and lingered, staring into his cup. “Yeah, I guess you’re right,” He chuckled, “I know I’d be devastated if Claire ever wizened up and left me.”
“Look, you gotta trust me okay? Douxie isn’t dad or Strickler. I promise. He’s kind. I trust him. After you apologize, I think you really should start to make an effort to get to know him. If not for me, for Claire dude. And I think you’ll really like him. Promise you’ll give him a chance?”
Jim sighed in defeat. “Alright. I promise.”
She stood up and stretched out her back, making those stretching noises that people do. She checked the food in the oven. The buns were ready, but the quiche still needed a few minutes. She took out the pans and put them on the cooling rack. After fanning them for a few seconds, she turned to Jim, “So you want a spinach bun or a cinnamon bun?”
“How is that a question?” Jim laughed.
“Spinach bun it is then,” She teased as she tossed him the cinnamon one.
“What’s all this for anyway?” He gestured to the oven and the buns.
“Oh, uh, its actually for a date tonight?” She looked warry of how he’d react.
“Okay,” He guessed now would be as good a time as ever to start letting this go, “You crazy kids have fun.” Y/n laughed, relived.
Douxie had just finished up the sweeping and was ready to close up. As he headed to towards the front doors, he took one last look around the place to make sure he didn’t miss anything. All clean and tidy. Whoever opened tomorrow would appreciate it. He flipped the neon sign from open to nope and started locking up. Which is when his girlfriend pounced on him and almost gave him a heart attack. She just appeared out of thin air to tackle him into a hug. Scared the living daylights out of him. Y/n apologized profusely when she noticed him freak out but was still snickering between sorries so she probably didn’t mean it. He asked her just what the hell she was doing here and she picked up a picnic basket that was on the ground to show him.
“I just knew a certain wizard hadn’t eaten yet tonight.”
***
Y/n felt the ground beneath her back through the picnic blanket. The new spring growth had made them a cushion of sorts. Her head rested in the crook of Douxie’s shoulder as his arm was wrapped around her. It was nice here. Comfy. She could smell his hair and feel his chest move as he breathed. Their heartbeats made a nice rhythm to accompany the cricket song and the noise of the trees swaying. The stars were so lovely tonight. Stellar.
Douxie broke the quiet. “So I brushed up on my astrology.”
“Oh yeah?” Y/n quirked her brow. Astrology was one of her biggest interests. She’d loved it since her grandmother had given her a book about it when she was small. It was a well-worn, well-loved book. Her grandmother had handwritten things in the margins too. She’d been talking Douxie’s ears off about it during work earlier that week. Something was just so fascinating about how there were gorgeous balls of light in the sky that could tell you the future. There really was magic embedded in the fabric of the universe. It was sweet that he would care enough to learn about her interests. Very sweet indeed. The fact that he went out of his way just so he could talk to her about something she loved? Tooth-rotting. She wasn’t sure if her heart sped up because she was excited to talk about astrology or because of the sugar rush he just gave her.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve needed to look at constellations, we do have GPS now, but I think I remember enough,” He pointed to the sky, “That’s Pisces, right?”
“Yes!” Y/n couldn’t stop herself from smiling so wide her cheeks hurt.
“And that’s Aries, which marks the beginning of spring,” He looked back at Y/n who nodded to him, “oh, and look! We can see Venus tonight.”
“Hey Douxie, I love you. And You’re really making me want to kiss you right now.”
He chuckled and wiggled his eyes brows teasingly, “Ah, yes, I am aware of the effect I have.” She rolled her eyes and put her hand on his face to push him away. If he saw the blush creeping up on her, he’d just get flirtier. She wasn’t sure she could handle that. Something caught her eye and instantly stole her attention.
“Look! A shooting star! Make a wish Doux.” She pointed to the streak of light that flashed.
“I don’t need wishes when I’m here with you, Love.” If her face was pink before it was bright red now.
Y/n hid her face in her hands, “No! You were supposed to say something silly,” She came back up to look him in the eyes, “not something that makes me want to kiss you even more.”
He leaned his head in closer, “Well, what’s stopping you, Y/n”
Well, that was obviously a dare. She couldn’t not kiss him now. So she did. They melted into it instantly. At first it was sweet and slow, but they got a bit hungrier, and the kiss got a bit sloppier. Douxie smelled like the bookstore, Y/n loved the smell of the bookstore. It was everything safe in her life. He was everything safe in her life. Her best friend. He brought his hand up to cup her cheek. He loved how her lips just fit together with his perfectly. Y/n Lake was everything he’d been waiting for all these years. Soft and kind, with such a beautiful heart. Not to mention, a badass. Yet, even with all his ancient baggage, she still cared for him. Made him feel like new again. Out of all the wizards of Arcadia Oaks, she chose him. He still couldn’t believe it. They pulled apart way sooner than either of them wanted, but they did have to breathe, so it had to be done. Locked in Douxie’s gaze, Y/n broke the intensity to giggle.
“But really, I was setting you up for a joke. You know what you could have done with that, Doux?” She teased.
“I’ll remember that for next time, Love.”
“Ah, they’re super rare. This is the first time I’ve ever seen one in all my stargazing years.”
“Well, we’ve got plenty of time to see the next one. And the next one. All the shooting stars you want. Only seeing them every few decades could make them a special little thing for us.” He said so nonchalantly, as if he hadn’t just implied that he expected their love to last for countless decades. As if it were a given. Suddenly it hit her. She could live thousands of years by his side. She would live thousands of years by his side. This was it. She wasn’t even sure humans could turn this vivid a shade of red. Y/n’s heart was gonna pop if it beat any harder.
“Stars, are you just hellbent on making me combust tonight? It too hot out here for this.” Douxie just laughed, a twinkle in his eye. She focused on her beloved stars to calm her down. She sighed, “The stars really are beautiful tonight.”
“You know what else is beautiful?”
“Me?”
“You- aww, you’ve heard that one.”
Y/n’s snort rung in the air. So, he does just have a bank of pick-up lines he’s pulling from. Interesting. Guess it must be tough having to be Arcadia’s most charming waiter. They stilled again. The comfortable silence embraced them. And they could have basked in it all night, if Douxie had not a burning question he had been waiting to ask his beloved.
“So- uh,” She looked to him expectedly, “Do you think there’s life out there?”
Y/n tried not to laugh too hard with Douxie’s very serious tone, “Yeah, yeah I do.”
Now it was Douxie’s turn to smile so wide his cheeks hurt. “Really?”
“Yeah,” She said, “I think it’d be kinda arrogant to assume that with all that vastness up there that we’re the only ones who exist.”
“That’s a really good point.” Douxie said excitedly. He pulled her tighter into his embrace and snuggled. “I think I’m going to use that on Zoe next time she tries to tell me that I’m crazy and aliens aren’t real.”
“Yeah Babe! Win that argument!” Y/n encouraged.
She peppered his face with kisses. That big smile stayed on his face as he closed his eyes in delight. He repaid her with a nose kiss. And she repaid that by starting another snogging session.

“Daddy,” Josie tugged at the sleeve of his shirt, before she all but threw herself against his arm as she curled her arms around his neck, resting her chin on his shoulder. “Do you think there’s buttercups? Sissy hasn’t seen buttercups!”
You grinned at them as you sat with your legs crossed beneath you. Sofía was happily chilling in your lap, leaning back against your stomach as she watched Josie with rapt interest. You hated that you were going to have to disrupt her soon.
If Josie was around, Sofía was watching her. “J-j-o!” She made grabby hands towards Josie, before clapping them together.
“We’ll find some buttercups for her.” Javier assured her, pressing a kiss to her cheek before he let her go.
Josie made her way over to you, reaching out to let Sofía take her hand. “You wanna see the flowers, sissy? We don’t know if you like butter!” She looked up at you then. “Do you think she likes butter?”
“If she’s anything like you, she’s going to love butter.” You assured her, tapping your finger against her chin as you scrunched up your nose. “Why don’t you go play, sweetheart? Then we’ll go look for the flowers before I head back to work.”
Josie grinned brightly at you, before she leaned down and cupped Sofía’s face with both hands and kissed her forehead — knocking her floppy hat off her head. “Oops!”
Sofía tried to mimic her, shrilly expressing her dismay as she pitched forward in your arms and grabbed at her hat.
Javier leaned forward and picked up the hat, putting it back on her head. “You sure you have to go to work?” He questioned, tilting his head to look at you.
“I wish I could stay.” You sighed, reaching out to brush your fingers over his cheek. “Be glad I didn’t have to go in until noon today.”
It was killing you that you had to work, while Javier got to spend all day with the kids. You’d kill to spend the long summer days at the park with the three of them.
Especially Javier. Summer was treating him very well. A month and a half in and he’d let his hair go — proving exactly where Josie got her soft chestnut curls from. And the scruff? You could get very used to it.
You loved his mustache, but there was something about that patchy scruff that made your mind wander… You did enjoy how it felt between your thighs.
Fuck. You had to keep focused. You had a three-hour long narcotics seminar to teach to a bunch of fresh-faced idiots who were going to ignore the first hour simply because you were a woman. You had to bring your A-game.
You couldn’t not get caught up thinking about Javier. Despite how good he looked.
Javier just had to go and look like the hottest man in the park. And you’d looked around — there were some attractive men, but none of them were Javi.
Javier pressed a quick kiss to your lips, “So I can’t tempt you to stay longer and have a cherry freeze pop?”
“Tempting.” You bumped your nose against his. “Don’t let Josie eat a whole one alone. She’ll be bouncing off the walls tonight and… I have plans.”
“Plans?” He arched a brow as you passed Sofía to him.
“You know exactly what I’m thinking.” You smirked as you started to stand up, gesturing to him. “Have you looked in the mirror lately, babe?”
Javier laughed as he held onto both of Sofía’s hands to support her as she toddled in front of him on the blanket. “I look like a man whose razor went mysteriously missing.”
“It’s summer — only I have to suffer the blade.” You teased, leaning down to ruffle your fingers through his hair. “Who do I have to bribe to make this your year-round look?”
He grinned as he swatted your hand away. “You like unkempt?”
“I like you.” You winked at him, before you looked towards Josie — who was busily gathering buttercups. You loved that she still remembered that innocuous moment. She was so little back then.
“I’ll make a note that you like it when I let it all go.”
“I particularly like it when you let your buttons go,” You smirked, trailing your fingers down the great expanse of bare skin leading down to the fourth button he had unbuttoned. “Try not to pick up any sexy dog walkers or hot moms.”
“You coming back with Stevie, then?” He shot back, “Cause there’s only one sexy dog walker and hot mom I want.”
You dramatically clutched at your chest, “The things you say that make me swoon, Javi.” You gave his hair a little tug, before you called out to Josie.
“Are you leaving, mommy?” Josie questioned as she flopped down onto the blanket beside her father.
“Unfortunately.” You frowned, “Are you going to be good for, daddy? Hold his hand when you’re crossing the street and please, please, help him with your sister.”
“I have buttercups!” She held her fist up to you. “Can we check her butter chin before you go?”
You knelt back down on the blanket, ushering Josie towards Javier as you brought a buttercup up under Sofía’s chin. “Look.”
“She likes butter, mommy! Daddy!” She threw her arms around your shoulders, hugging you tightly.
“I know, baby doll.” You grinned, looking between her and Javier. You still couldn’t believe that Josie was a few months away from kindergarten. She was a big girl now. A whole five years old.
Javier tilted his head to look at you, “Knock ‘em dead, baby.”
“You know it.” You leaned forward on your hands and pressed a lingering kiss to his lips, “Don't wear yourself out. I’m going to take advantage of this long hair.” You nipped at his bottom lip, before you pulled back to kiss both of your babies and got up off the blanket.
“Oh, wait,” You started, moving around behind him, leaning back down to drape your arms over his shoulders. “You need these.” You smirked as you carefully placed his aviators back on his face. “I’ll see you this evening.”
Javier curled his fingers around your arm, squeezing it three times. “Looking forward to it, baby.”

The seminar went about as well as you expected it to. At least Monica had offered up her afternoon to help you administer the relevant materials and keep the session in order. Plus, it all went towards her internship with the department.
“Are you free to watch the girls tomorrow?” You questioned hopefully as you shuffled extra handouts back into an envelope.
“I’m actually heading up to stay with Nadia for the weekend.” Monica offered a slight smile. “Otherwise, I’d say yes.”
You sighed dramatically, “I mean sure… What could possibly be better? Your hot girlfriend or two rambunctious children?”
Monica pursed her lips, laughing as she feigned like she was considering. “Don’t get me wrong, I love the girls — but hot girlfriend is always going to be the right answer.”
You tsked, “Maybe I’m wanting a little alone time with my hot partner?”
She started laughing, “Oh God. Speaking of Javier. I had coffee yesterday with a couple of the girls from the major—“ Monica cut herself off with more laughter. “I guess they saw him at the park on Monday.”
You covered your face and groaned, “Was he doing something stupid?”
“No! He was pushing the girls on the swings.” Monica explained, “Needless to say, my classmates are officially obsessed with him.”
“I can’t blame them.”
“I was so uncomfortable.” Monica made a face. “I just wanted to scream ‘that is my father!’ at them.”
You grinned, “What were they saying?”
“I believe they referred to him as a ‘DILF’.”
“Is that dad I’d like to fu—“
“Don’t say it!”
“Well,” A slow smirk spread over your lips. “That’s exactly why I’m looking for a sitter. Cause they’re not wrong. He is a dad I’d very much like to fuck.”
“Ugh. Gross.” Monica scrunched up her nose. “I just ate.”
“Oh, and what are you and Nadia doing this weekend? Baking cookies?” You gave her an unamused look.
“It’s bad enough when he comes to class with very obvious hickies.” She retorted, folding her arms across her chest. “There’s just some things I don’t want to know about.”
You rolled your eyes, “If only you knew some of the things we get up to.”
She grimaced, sticking her fingers in her ears. “I’m not listening.”
You laughed loudly, shaking your head as you stuffed the envelope into your briefcase. “Okay, but I really want to know what else these students were saying…”
She sighed heavily, “I tried to pretend I wasn’t listening.” Monica admitted to you, screwing up her face as she sat down in the chair across from your desk. “I think they just really enjoyed seeing him in something other than a suit. He’s kinda got a whole uniform thing when he’s teaching.”
You nodded, “He hates wearing suits and yet cannot be convinced to wear anything less than a suit for his lectures.”
“Right?” Monica rolled her eyes. “I think he had that stupid Hawaiin shirt on. The one Steve got him.”
“Oh God, Javi…”
“I told you we should’ve burned it.”
“I tried.” You deadpanned.
“Apparently,” Monica continued. “He hardly had it buttoned up, which really got their attention.”
You bit down on your bottom lip, “It’s a really good look.”
“I wouldn’t know.” She pursed her lips and widened her eyes dramatically. “It was bad enough that I had to go along with them. Calling Javier sexy is about the last thing I’d ever want to do. For so many reasons.”
“I cannot wait to torment him about this tonight.” You snorted, storing your projector slides in the filing cabinet behind you. “DILF. The things that young people will come up with.”
“There’s a reason his classes are made up of mostly women,” Monica pointed out. “However, I’m pretty sure there’s a couple guys who sign up in hopes that you’ll guest lecture more often.”
“You know,” You started as you sat down behind your desk. “I’ve considered leaving all of this—” You gestured around your office. “And trying the whole teaching thing. But I don’t know if I’d be any good at it. It’s kinda Javi’s thing.”
“Uh,” Monica’s brows furrowed together. “You just spent three hours absolutely schooling a bunch of dumbass men who think they know all about narcotics because they watched Miami Vice with their parents. The university would be lucky to have you.”
You shrugged, “Maybe. At least then I’d have more time with my family.” It was something to consider. Working for the Miami PD was only ever supposed to be a temporary thing, but somehow it had transitioned into a 9-5 job.
It really killed you during the summertime when you just wanted to be home with Javi and the girls.
Maybe you could convince the Murphys to watch the girls tomorrow.
“Are you listening to me?”
“Hmm?” You arched a brow. “Shit, sorry.”
“You were a million miles away.”
“More like five miles.” You pressed your tongue to the inside of your cheek. “All this discussion about a certain DILF and my mind… is not on work.”
Monica rolled her eyes, “I can’t exactly blame you. I’ve been counting the hours until I can drive to Merritt Island.”
“Honestly, you could leave now.” You told her, “I’ll sign your internship papers and fudge the hours.”
“Really?” Her eyes lit up. “You’re the best.”
“Who am I to stand in the way of you getting a little action, Monica?” You grinned. “Have fun. Tell Nadia I said ‘hello’ please.”
She stepped around your desk to hug you, before she grabbed her backpack and headed out of your office, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
The fact that his students were thirsting over him cracked you up. Javier was so staunchly serious about being a professor and he was entirely oblivious to the fact that he had a gaggle of students that would do just about anything for a good grade. Well, he knew it — given the situation that brought Monica into your lives — but you doubted he understood just how hot-for-teacher his students were.
And in his current state?
Summertime Javier was a whole different beast than the man he was during the academic year. Florida’s humidity had his shaggy hair curling at the nape of his neck and over his ears. He didn’t put an ounce of product in it, which meant it was frequently windswept and wild. Just begging for your fingers to play with it.
You’d always loved his hair. You vividly remembered the first time you wondered if his hair was as soft as it looked — you had only known him for all of a month.
And then there was his goddamn inability to button his shirts. He might leave the house with only the top two undone, but somehow, every evening, after a day at the park with the girls — he’d turn up with his buttons undone almost to his navel. Always with a sheen of sweat that made his golden skin that just screamed to be touched.
Not to mention, he was actually relaxed. You couldn’t remember the last time you had seen him this relaxed. Except maybe those two years when he stayed at home with Josie. He had been really good at being a stay-at-home father.
When you put all of that together… he was a DILF.
Now, what were you going to do to kill the next two hours of work?
———
You were actually pretty surprised that you got home before Javier did. The girls were usually worn out by about two or three in the afternoon. He’d clearly been home — Stevie wasn’t dying to go out and she had a half-eaten bowl of kibble sitting in the kitchen.
“Shi— Shoot.” Javier quickly corrected as he came through the front door with Sofía strapped to his chest and Josie hot on his heels. “I thought I’d beat you home.”
“Is that pizza I smell?” You questioned as you kicked off your shoes by the sofa, walking towards him to take the pizza boxes out of his hands.
He grinned at you, “Well, I figured since you had to work hard today, you deserved an easy evening.”
“I mean, pizza is always the right choice,” You remarked, heading towards the kitchen. “But I appreciate the gesture.”
“Mommy,” Josie said as she followed after you. “Daddy let me eat a whole popsicle!”
“Kid, what did we talk about being a nark?” You arched a brow at her, before you knelt down to her height. “What else did daddy let you do?”
“JoJo, princesa, how dare you betray me?” Javier put on as he leaned against the counter, running his hand over Sofía’s back as she slept against his chest. Someone had clearly had herself a long day.
“He let me walk Stevie all by myself.” Josie revealed to you, grinning from ear-to-ear. “But she’s strong.”
“Which is why you’re only allowed to walk her with mommy or daddy.” You reminded her, scrunching up your nose as you took her hands into yours and examined them. “Even if you hadn’t ratted on your father, your hands are bright red Josie. Can you go wash them for me?”
“Okay!” She patted your hands in between hers, before she darted out of the kitchen — Stevie following after her.
“Seems like you three had fun today,” You arched a brow at Javier as you stood back up, moving to grab paper plates out of the cabinet. “I guess summer is for breaking rules.”
“She’s too good at getting what she wants.” Javier shook his head. “I think she burned most of the sugar out of her system.”
“You better hope she did.” You gave him a pointed look, “Because I spent the last two hours thinking about—” You glanced down the hallway, ensuring that Josie was still running water in the bathroom, before you fixed Javier with a heated look. “— your cock.”
Javier swallowed thickly, going rather stiff as he stared back at you. “Is that so?”
You nodded your head slowly. “Mhm.” You turned your back to him then, opening up the pizza box and doling out slices for the two of you and Josie. “Babe, do you want pepperoni?”
“You can’t just say shit like that and then switch gears on me, baby.” Javier complained, moving to join you at the kitchen island.
“Oh, but I can.” You grinned, stepping around behind him and giving his ass a playful squeeze. “If I can give a seminar to seventy-odd students, while wishing I was at home sucking your cock… I think you can handle me asking you about pizza toppings.”
He dragged his fingers through his hair, your eyes watching the path they took as he slid them back and rubbed at the back of his neck. “And what’s got you so worked up today, baby?” Javier questioned, opening up the second box of pizza and throwing a slice of pepperoni onto his plate.
You pressed your tongue to the inside of your cheek, a slow grin spreading over your lips. “Same thing that’s got your students hot and bothered.”
He sputtered, “Excuse me?”
“You heard me.” You met his gaze, chuckling quietly. “Monica met up with some of your other students yesterday and apparently everyone was losing it over this.” You gestured over the length of him. “Something about an unbuttoned Hawaiin shirt and swinging the girls.”
“And that makes them ‘hot and bothered’?” He seemed scandalized.
“Never underestimate the appeal of a father with his children.” You gave him a pointed look, your eyes flickering downwards to your daughter who was still sound asleep, her little cheek pressed against his bare chest. “Not to mention, apparently DILF was thrown around.”
“I don’t know what that is.”
“It’s an anagram for ‘dad I’d like to f—’.” You faltered on the word as the water shut off in the bathroom and Josie reemerged, singing “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” at the top of her lungs.
“We came home and rewatched Hercules after you went to work.” Javier admitted with a short laugh, before he looked back at you. “I have so many questions about this anagram. Please tell Monica I never want to know who said it. Never gonna look them in the eyes again.”
“All I know is that I am the only one who gets to be in on that action.” You said, biting down on your bottom lip as you raked your gaze over him.
Javier’s tongue darted out over his bottom lip, “I’m… going to go put this one in her crib.”
You snorted, “You’re walking awfully stiff there, babe.”
He flipped you off, just out of Josie’s line of view as she returned to the kitchen with Stevie.
“Hey Josie,” You said as you knelt down in front of her. “We’re gonna eat in the family room tonight.”
“Really?” She grinned brightly. “Can we watch TV?”
“You wanna watch Hercules and Xena?” It was almost as ridiculous as the live action series, but she loved it. And it put her to sleep nearly every time she sat down to watch it.
You stood back up, ushering Josie into the family room. “Once daddy’s back, we’ll eat. Okay?”
“Okay, mommy.” Josie told you, already entranced by the previews at the start of the tape. Instead of heading back into the kitchen, you headed down the hallway to the nursery just as Javier was emerging from the room.
“Don’t worry, I fed her before we went to get the pizz—” Javier explained, but you weren’t really interested in talking. You had something else in mind.
You pushed him back against the wall, fingers delving into his hair as you hungrily slanted your mouth over his. A quiet moan escaped you as Javier ran his hand down your back, both of his hands moving to grab at your ass as you pressed close to him.
With a brief scrape of your teeth over his bottom lip, you pulled out of his hold. “The second she’s asleep.” You warned him, sliding your hand over his exposed chest, before trailing it downwards and cupping the outline of his cock through his khaki shorts.
“What’s got you all worked up today?” Javier questioned, catching your hand and pulling it away from his hardening erection.
“There’s just something really hot about a man with his children.” You told him, meeting his gaze. “I’ve been waiting all week for this, Javi.”
He flashed you a crooked grin, “Then I guess we better eat fast.” He leaned back down, brushing his lips over yours, just enough of a gesture to leave you burning for more.
———
As predicted, after inhaling two and a half pieces of pizza, Josie conked out on the sofa. Javier handled getting her bathed and put to bed, while you put the pizza away and made sure Sofía had a clean diaper and was settled for the evening.
Because you were not getting interrupted tonight.
Somehow, in the haste of whisking Josie to bed, another button had come loose, leaving Javi’s stupid bright orange shirt held together by only two buttons. Your eyes lingered on the expanse of bare skin exposed to you — just calling out to you to trail kisses over it.
“I turned the white noise machine on for JoJo.” Javier remarked as he shut the bedroom door behind him. “She played hard today, so I doubt a bomb could wake her up.”
“Good.” You said with a smirk, rising up off the foot of the bed and moving towards him. “Leave it on.” You told him as he started working at the last buttons of his shirt.
His brows rose upwards, a lazy grin playing over his lips. “What did you have in mind tonight, baby?” He questioned, tracing his fingers over your cheekbone, sliding them back to curl around the back of your neck.
“You’re just going to have to trust me, Javi.” You whispered, surging up to press a needy kiss to his lips. Your tongue darted out, sliding between his lips as you sought out his own. A needy sound escaped the back of his throat as your lips parted for a breath.
You stepped forward, urging him back against the door. “Do you trust me, Javi?” You breathed out, dragging your mouth away from his lips, leaving a trail of kisses along his jaw, down his throat.
“Yes.” He practically growled as you left your mark at the crook of his neck. Your tongue soothing over the spot where your teeth had bit into his skin. You moved lower, leaving open-mouthed kisses over the tanned skin of his chest. You could taste the salty-tang of sweat on his skin and it only sought to fuel the burning need you felt.
He tasted like summertime.
Your trailed lower, your tongue dipping out over his navel, before you knelt to your knees in front of him. “This is just the beginning.” You promised him, nimble fingers working to remove his khakis, followed swiftly by his boxers.
“Baby—”
“Shhh.” You urged as you looked up at him with a devious grin. “I’ve been thinking about this all day, Javi.” You told him as you curled your fingers around the base of his cock and dragged them over the length of his hardening erection.
“Yeah?” He questioned, breathing heavily as he tangled his fingers into your hair. “Let me tell you what, baby… I think about your pretty little mouth all the time.”
“I bet you do.” You shot back as you ran your thumb over the underside of his cock. Leaning forward, you swept your tongue over the head of his cock, lapping at the pre-cum as it leaked from him. You curled your fingers around the base of his cock, looking up at him from beneath your lashes as you wrapped your lips around the very tip of him.
Javier’s fingers tightened in your hair, sending a shiver of desire down your spine as you took the length of his cock into your mouth. You released your hold on him, fingers trailing down to cup his balls gently as you moaned around his length as it pressed against the back of your throat.
“Fuck.” Javier swore, his voice breaking as he continued. “I fucking love your mouth.”
You pulled back, releasing his cock with a wet pop as you looked up at him. “Do you like that, Javi?” You taunted, running your hands over his thighs as you leaned towards him once more, wrapping your lips around the head of his cock and swirling your tongue around it. “Come on, Javi.. You know you want to fuck my mouth. I know how much you love it.” You said as you scraped your fingernails over the soft skin of his inner thighs.
Javier bit out a strained attempt at your name, his hand curling around the back of your head, fingers tangled in your hair as he drew you forward as his hip moved to meet the motion. His cock slid past your lips, dragging heavily over your tongue as he worked it into your mouth. You swallowed around it every time it hit the back of your throat.
Your jaw was going to kill you tomorrow and it was worth every second of this.
The way he tenderly swept a tear from your cheek, stood in sharp contrast with the way he was roughly holding your head. And that combination of pain and pleasure made your cunt ache for something more.
You slid your hand beneath the waistband of your sleep pants and underwear, fingers sweeping through your slick folds, teasing your clit before you used that same hand to fondle his balls. You could tell he was close — not only was he losing his pace, but you could see the tension in his thighs, the way his cock throbbed in your mouth.
Right as you brought him to the very edge you stopped. You pried his hand off the back of your head and sat back on your legs. You watched his cock twitch as it hung untouched between you, glistening with your spit.
“What the fuck?” Javier hissed out, fingers clenching and unclenching at his sides as he slumped back against the door.
“You said you trusted me.” You reminded him, panting a little as you tried to catch your breath. Your own arousal burned between your thighs and you shifted uncomfortably as your underwear clung to your slick folds.
“I do.”
“Good.” You smiled up at him, leaning forward onto your knees as you brought yourself eye-level with his cock. You pursed your lips together, blowing a soft puff of air over the head of his cock.
Javier groaned, “Are you just trying to torture me, baby?”
You shook your head, “Have I ever led you astray, Javi?”
“No.”
“Then trust me.” You said lightly, brushing your thumb over the tip of his cock, before you loosely curled your fingers around it once more. You slowly pumped your fist over him, keeping your eyes on your face as you brought him towards the edge again.
This time, you didn’t stop. You watched his face as he came apart, lashes fluttering as he watched you in return. The sound he made — the guttural groan that slipped past his lips as he took in the sight of you, your tongue extended to catch him as he spilled.
You pressed a tender kiss to the head of his cock, before you sat back and licked your lips. “Get on the bed.” You told him, wiping some of his come of your chin with your tongue before licking it clean.
“Holy shit.” Javier breathed out as he dragged his hands over his face. “Fuck, baby. You gotta give me a second.”
“You can take a second on the bed.” You repeated with a firmer tone, your brows raising expectedly.
“Is that how we’re gonna play it tonight, baby?” He questioned as you rose back to your feet in front of him.
“It is.” You quipped, dragging your hands up his chest as you pressed close to him. “If that’s what you want too.”
Javier scraped his teeth over his bottom lip, huffing quietly. “Of course I want that, baby.” He assured you as he lifted his hand to catch a smear of come you’d missed, wiping it off with his finger. You caught her hand and brought it to your lips, wrapping them around his finger.
You released his finger with a smirk. Something sparked hot in his eyes a split second before his mouth was on yours. His teeth roughly caught your lip, before his lips slanted against your own.
That was something you loved about Javier. He didn’t care where your mouth had been. He didn’t care if he could taste himself on your tongue. He kissed you just as thoroughly, just as desperately regardless of whether you’d just had your mouth on his cock.
You grabbed at the font of his shirt, clinging to him as he guided your backwards towards the bed. You had, after all, told him to get on the bed. His hands worked at your sleep shorts, tearing them down your hips, followed in short order by your underwear. He laid you back against the bed, his hands skimming along your curves as he moved over you.
“Javier.” You moaned against his mouth, your fingers raking through his hair, fingernails scraping against his scalp as you played with the hair that had been driving you crazy. You pulled at it roughly, dragging his head back as he drew in a ragged breath. “On your back.” You ordered him, “Now.”
Javier stole another kiss, his tongue invading your mouth in an all too-brief moment, before he rolled onto his back on the bed beside you. “Are you going to let me repay the favor, baby? Am I going to get to eat that delicious cunt of yours?”
You smirked at him triumphantly as you shed your tank top, tossing it aside. “Aren’t you a good boy.” You taunted, using the same tone he used with you when he said the same to you as you moved to straddle his chest.
He took the initiative to move beneath you, his hands curled around your thighs as you sat up on your knees to accommodate him “Fuck. Look at you.” Javier muttered as he drew his thumb over the seam of your sensitive lips, leaning up to drag his tongue between your folds. “Baby, you’re practically dripping for me.”
You reached down and slid your fingers into his hair, grabbing at it roughly. “You know I love your cock.” Your eyes rolled back in your head as his tongue flicked over your clit, a teasing touch before he wrapped his lips around it and sucked at it. Your entire core throbbed, fire burning through your lower belly. “Fuck!”
Javier pulled back, “Gotta be quiet, baby. Or this is gonna all be over.” He squeezed your soft thighs. He met your gaze, his lips curling into a smirk as he looked up at you from between your thighs. “What?”
“You look good between my thighs.” You told him, tugging at his hair. Not to mention, you loved the scruff prickling against your inner thighs. “But you look even better when your tongue is—” He cut you off, causing a strangled sound to escape you as his mouth returned to your cunt. His hands grabbed at your hips, drawing you downwards.
You grabbed at his hands, interlacing your fingers as your nails bit into the backs of his hands as his tongue worked into you. He created a tantalizing combination, his tongue thrusting into you, before he’d use just the tip to tease your clit. He ate pussy like a fucking champ. And really — was there anything better than looking down between your thighs and seeing that head of hair between them.
“Javi.” You moaned, a tremble going through your thighs as he increased the pressure he was doling out against your clit. “Oh God.”
Javier’s grip on your hips tightened, holding you steady as you rocked downwards, grinding against his mouth. You let his hair slide through your fingers, before you tugged at it hard enough to earn a throaty groan from him — a sound that reverberated straight through you.
You cried out as quietly as possible, your head thrown back as your release tore through you. It took you by surprise at first, a flutter spreading through you before it washed over you, your inner walls clenching around his tongue as he worked it back into you.
And still he didn’t relent. He sucked at your clit, circling that little bundle of nerves until you were a trembling mess sitting astride his face. You kept one hand firmly twisted in his hair, as you reached behind you and curled your fingers around his cock.
“Fuck.” Javier hissed out from between your thighs, drawing back for a brief second to catch his breath, before his mouth returned to exploring every sensitive spot he could discover. As if he didn’t have an intimate map of every inch of your body already.
You shifted, dragging your cunt over his mouth as you worked your hand over his length. Every little sound he made went straight through you as he teased at your clit. You weren’t even certain if your first release had even stopped, before he sent you careening over the edge again.
“I… I can’t—” You panted out, tugging sharply at his hair as you pulled away from his mouth. Javier’s lips were slick with your arousal, his mustache and scruff glistening with it as you looked down at him.
“Rendered you speechless, baby?” Javier questioned as you repositioned yourself above him so you could lean down to kiss him. He gingerly brushed your hair away from your clammy cheeks, tucking it behind your ears.
“Just a little.” You confirmed with a grin, bumping your nose against his as you brushed your lips over his. “This thing you keep doing… your shirt half-unbuttoned… is a very weird turn on.” You admitted to him, combing your fingers through his hair as you kept yourself nose-to-nose with him.
“Really?”
You bit down on your bottom lip and nodded. “I’ve always thought you were sexy, Javi… but this is a good look.”
Javier tilted his head and kissed you again, “Maybe I’ll keep the look, just for you, baby.”
“Please.” You whispered, dragging your fingers through his hair slowly.
He ran his hand down your spine, giving your ass a squeeze. “Anything you want.” Javier promised you.
You grinned at him, planting another kiss on his lips before you sat back up. “Right now, I want to fuck you, Javi.” You told him as you reached behind you and curled your fingers around his cock, giving him a short pump.
“After… tonight.” Javier drew in a ragged breath as he watched you rise up on your knees and position his cock between your thighs.
“Hmm?” You questioned, licking your lips as you looked down at him.
“I think it might be time for you to really… fuck me again.” He told you as he skimmed his hands over your thighs.
Your eyes lit up, “Whenever you want me too, Javi.” God, you’d been wanting to pull the strap-on back out again, but you’d been waiting for him to initiate it. It wasn’t something you felt like you could just propose without making him feel pressured. And that was the last thing you wanted out of that situation.
Javier ran one hand up over your stomach to grasp at your breast as you slowly started to sink down onto his cock, “But right now I want you to ride me, baby. Come on. I wanna feel you come on my cock.”
You took the full length of his cock into your body, moaning as your hips met his, before you rose back up on your knees and repeated the action over again. One hand slid from your hip, slipping around to grab at your ass as you moved atop him.
A moan slipped past your lips as you shifted the angle, arching back as you rolled your hips downwards, driving yourself onto his cock again and again.
Javier’s slapped your ass lightly. Spurred on by the sound that escaped you, his hand fell against your ass with a little more force and you couldn’t help the way you clenched around his cock as you rolled downwards.
“Fuck, you feel good Javi.” You panted out, grabbing at his thigh for support as you worked yourself onto him. “Touch me. Please.” You begged softly, your cunt fluttering once more as his thumb crazed your over-sensitive clit.
“Baby, I’m close.” He warned you, his brows furrowed as he looked up at you. “Fuck. Come on, baby. Come on.” Javier drawled out. “Can you come for me? Wanna feel you.” His thumb worked hasty circles over your clit, trying to push you over the edge for a third time.
You were almost too sensitive. You were right on the edge, every nerve ending in your body practically humming with your impending release.
Javier stopped teasing you, grabbing at your hips to still you as you sat astride his cock. Both of your chests were heaving from the effort, his eyes blown wide with the sort of lust that made desire coil in your gut. “Get on your knees.” He told you, giving your hips three short squeezes.
Your thighs burned as you climbed off of him, rolling onto your stomach first before you gathered yourself onto your hands and knees before him.
He stroked his hand over your lower back as he guided his cock to your center. You couldn’t help the groan that escaped you as his cock filled you again. And the near whine that followed as you sank forward on your arms as he all but railed into you.
His hips snapped against you, driving his cock right into that sweet spot within you again and again… until there was nothing left to do but come for him. Just like he’d told you to. Right on the heels of two earth-shattering releases, his cock hitting your G-spot with every thrust — you bit down on the comforter to keep from crying out as your release finally hit.
Javier’s hands were everywhere. Gripping at your hips, running down your spine, slipping around to tease your throbbing clit as you came apart around his cock. “Oh, fuck baby—” He grunted out as you gushed for him, mere seconds before he spilled into you. You swore you could feel and hear your pulse, throughout your entire body.
“I think you broke me.” You managed to get out, though your voice was muffled by the way you were laying face-down on the mattress. You nearly whimpered as Javier pulled out of you, your legs finally giving out on you.
“Shit, baby.” Javier murmured, mostly to himself because you were fairly certain you were dead. He ran his hands over the backs of your thighs. “Look at you.” He whispered, using his thumb to press his come back inside of you, before he moved to lay down on his back beside you on the bed.
You turned your head slowly, your cheek pressed against the bed as you watched him stick his thumb in his mouth, flashing you a cocky grin. “Hey.” You smiled at him, eyes half-closed as you met his gaze.
With a slight wince, he rolled onto his side — the one you knew was his bad shoulder — so he could face you. “Was that what you needed, baby?” He questioned, brushing his knuckles against your cheek.
“Mmm.” You hummed thoughtfully, wiggling your hips as you felt his come starting to slide out of you, joining the noticeable damp spot you’d left on the bedding beneath you. “That’s what I wanted.” You corrected, “All I ever need is you.”
Javier scooted closer, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” You smiled. “And because I love you so much… I called the Murphys. They’re down for taking the kids to the pool tomorrow so you can have a much deserved day off.”
“What did I do to deserve you?”
You scrunched up your nose as you let him pull you towards him, draping yourself over his chest as he sank back flat onto the mattress. “I think we’re stuck together until we figure that one out.”
He kissed your cheek. “Good, because I don’t know if there’s an answer.”
“Stuck with you sounds like the best alternatively.” You giggled to yourself, before you added. “Who could complain about being stuck with a DILF?”
Eventually, you’d both have to get up and sleep like normal people in bed. But this, right there — was perfect.

↞ back to my hero academia masterlist
You and Toga were not friends, even after the countless times she had made you show her your clothes or your quirk. You refused to even be friends with a villain, but the foul smile on your face was tricking everybody except Bakugo, he saw your knuckles get white as Toga was telling you a story.
It was a bloody story to put it lightly, filled with murder and kidnapping and all you could do was nod and smile. “What’s the worst thing you’d do to one of your victims?” She casually spoke the knife going back and forth between her fingers.
“Oh definitely control one of them to kill their wife or kid and then as soon as their just a mere inch away, I’d stop controlling them, so they do it on their own due to the impact.” You gave a grin after, you could almost feel Bakugo’s disgust, but he refrained, laughing with Mr Compress about what you had said.
Toga jolted up smiling, as she brought the knife up to your face, moving it up and down your cheek. “I love that, we should do it sometime.”
You grinned back with her, internally wanting to puke as she told you more stories. It had been a little over two days and the manhunt for you and Bakugo had begun, you’d been offered places to sleep having to share a single confided room with Bakugo. He was a heavy snorer and sleeping in the same bed was in honesty, tiring with his often jabbing at your side.
“I want to try your quirk out Y/n.” She pouts giving you puppy dog eyes, you were not comfortable with this, but you obliged making sure Bakugo could hear so you both wouldn’t even dare think about the mission at hand. Even if she did force you say something you could always just use your quirk and make both yours and Bakugo’s minds go blank.
She stabbed you in the shoulder, a pain filed through you as you tried to not scream, Bakugo instantly ran up to you. He didn’t even realise how quick he had left as he quickly ripped the bottom part of his shirt ready to put it around but instead Toga puts an injection as she drinks the blood.
“What the fuck?” He shouts out but she stops as soon as she has enough and lets him wrap his shirt around your bloody arm. He tries to gain any indication if you’re okay, but you quickly use your quirk to make both your minds go blank, it was absent, and you hoped she wouldn’t even bother reading people’s minds.
You both turned to girl, watching her commit cannibalism before you see her turn into an exact copy of you. “Bakugo, you never told me I was this pretty.” You speak light heartedly, but he gave a side eye more worried about your bleeding arm.
“Wow, this is amazing, I feel so heroic, it’s gross.” Her quick contradictions makes you roll your eyes before she puts her hand out, instantly the knife that had fell on the floor was brought into her fingers in an instant. “Y/n, this quirk is amazing.” She continues throwing things around making Dabi and Tomura both frustrated.
“You’re going to need to stitch it up.” Mr Compress says passing a first aid box that contained everything you both needed.
Bakugo grabs the box before grabbing your side, “wrap your arm around my shoulder.” You oblige he was being oddly caring and it made you feel very weirded out.
Taking you to the room, he sat you down on the bed making sure blood didn’t spill anywhere. “Is she still you?” He whispers, taking the alcohol, needle and thread out of the box.
You turn your quirk on listening to their thoughts, “Shigaraki asked if we have anything to hide, and she says that she couldn’t hear anything from us, I think she’s turned back.”
He only nods, unwrapping the shirt that he had secured around your arm, “take your shirt off.”
“What?” Your eyes widened at his command.
“Y/n, get your mind out of the gutter and take your fucking shirt off, it’s got blood on it.” You nod, peeling the bloodied shirt off your skin. You were exposed wearing the bra that cupped your cleavage, it allowed everything for him to see. “This is going to hurt.”
He shows you the alcohol he had in the cup, “can I bite something?” It was his turn for his eyes to widen, “now whose being the kinky one.” You laugh he rolls his eyes, passing you his belt.
He puts it in your mouth, you easily bite it, “one, two…”
You don’t hear the three as the alcohol is put on the wound to clean it. You screamed but the belt had made it seem a lot quieter. A tear fell down your cheeks, and Bakugo for once saw a vulnerable side, “just…just quickly do it.”
“Y/n, I’m not a fucking doctor, it’ll take time.” He grumbles back before starting to stitch the wound closed, it was painful, but you kept on biting at the belt. You knew it’d be ruined with teeth marks now, he tied it up securely before looking at your damp face. “Don’t use your arm to much, it’ll snap.”
His kindness was brought with a tone of anger, he sat on the chair opposite you, whilst you put on a different shirt. “Why’d you let her do that shit?” You passed the belt back which he threw on the other side of the room waiting for an answer.
“We need to let them do what they want, to gain their trust.”
“What? At the expense of you getting hurt?” He crossed his arms not meeting your eyes. You shrugged not replying, “what’s the end point of this Y/n?”
“I don’t know, if all of this fails, we’ll be villains.”
“We could always run away to Cuba.” He spoke trying to lighten the atmosphere.
“You want both of us to become street urchins in Cuba.” He looks down at you smiling.
You could hear someone coming as he spoke, “yeah it’s a fucking brilliant idea.” You laugh, before the door opens, Toga skipping inside. She plants herself on the bed, you smile at the girl as Bakugo refused to look at her, one glance from him and both their sadist side would come out.
“We’re going to get some materials; you both are coming.” You nod standing up, she stays planted on the bed, both you and Bakugo confused.
“We need to get changed.”
“Yeah so?” She hums playing with her knife again, you stopped caring about the minute details of changing in front of one another, quickly wearing your hero costume, you really did miss the sleeves of the costume.
“Come on.” She grabs your hand dragging you along, Bakugo followed, he didn’t know what went over him but seeing the pain in your eyes when you got stabbed, it did something to him. He shrugged the feeling off following the two of you.
Waiting outside in a white minivan that looked like the ones parents warned their kids to not get into, Dabi and Shigaraki waited. Dabi had refused any communication with you and Bakugo which in all honesty you were glad about, you hadn’t even snuck a peak into their heads yet having a feeling that they would know.
“We’re getting some materials, Y/n and Toga will be getting it and afterwards Dabi and Bakugo will burn the place down.” You didn’t ask what he was just doing all nodding.
You stayed silent before feeling Bakugo’s foot hit your leg, you knew what he wanted sitting across of you. ‘What’s up?’
‘Get in Shigaraki’s head and see what he’s doing’
You don’t think anything, going into Shigaraki’s head, ‘I could always see him tomorrow, no, I’ll make time tonight.’
You were heavily confused at the thought, going back to Bakugo’s head, ‘he was thinking about some guy he’s going to meet; I don’t know what he’s doing.’
Bakugo moved onto his own thoughts as you tuned out of his head, the drive was long and sitting next to a yapping Toga was heavily irritating. “I heard Izuku Midoriya is still single?”
You remembered her crush on the boy from when she had tried to get at both of you in the forest back when you were first years. “Yeah, he still is.” You mutter resting your head against the palm of your hand.
“I wonder if I’d be able to become a girl he likes, then I can be with him.” You gave a side eye looking down.
“Yeah maybe.” Is all you muttered.
Toga looked between you and Bakugo smiling, “are you two a thing?”
Bakugo almost choked on the words, “no, definitely not, we’re far from a thing.” You blabbered out like a mindless idiot.
“I could never be with an annoying brat like Y/n.” You rolled your eyes.
Stepping on his foot, he scowled before you talked yourself, “I could never be with a man who is so self-absorbed that he believes that whatever he says is right.”
Toga was the one to side eye this time looking at Dabi who looked genuinely uncomfortable by the atmosphere. You and Bakugo refused to make eye contact and as soon as the doors opened, you were the one to grab Toga to the building.
“What materials are we getting?” She showed you how it was a large shipment container already in the building and you both just needed to get passed and using your quirk carry it out. “So why does Bakugo and Dabi have to burn the building?”
You further question trying to slip by some workers, but Toga had other plans she easily slit their throats. “That was so fun.” She giggled as you forced a smile. “Maybe you should do that thing you wanted to do.”
“What thing?” You question walking through the building, you had all come from the back exit and you knew this building was at the heart of a small city. It was unnoticeable but you knew by the end of the day everybody would be talking about it.
“Getting someone to stab someone with your quirk, let’s do it.”
You dismissed the idea as quick as you could, “not right now, later on.”
She huffed going on a rampage of slitting more throats, you couldn’t stop her without raising alarms, she kept on going and going, blood covering her with ease. You hadn’t bothered to kill anybody, hoping it didn’t raise alarms before he pointed at a man with what seemed to be a woman. “Y/n, look I think they’re dating, do it with them?”
Your eyes widened as she grabbed the woman, tying her up to a chair, she giggled grabbing the man. “Do it then?”
“Toga we’re on a…” She interrupts you and regret falls from your face, why did you even have to tell her such a cruel thing.
“You don’t want me to tell Shigaraki that you’re really still a hero.” You raise an eyebrow, her threats weren’t empty, she put the knife in the man’s hands.
“Please, whatever you do, let my wife go.” You tried to suppress your emotions, you were about to murder them, murder someone.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, you turned your quirk on, controlling the man, he moved forwards, his hand shaky as he couldn’t control his body, tears formed from his face, you let him speak.
“Honey, I’m sorry, I can…can’t control my body.” The man continued walking at a deadly pace, before the knife was just touching the woman’s chest.
“Please, stop.” She cried out, you tried to ignore the please, if you let go, he would fall directly into her, killing her in the process.
Toga had come behind you, whispering callously in your ear, “do it then.” With the three words your quirk was removed, and her screaming was heard before she died just as everybody else had done so. The man sobbed on his wife’s corpse and before you could tell Toga to leave him, she slit open his neck as well. You suppressed any tears that were about to fall instead going to the shipping crater.
Not speaking to Toga, you lifted the shipping container with your quirk making it follow both you and Toga back out. Dabi and Tomura saw you as Bakugo was nowhere to be seen, they helped you put it inside the van before getting inside. “Where’s Bakugo?” You question lowly.
“He’s already there.” Is all Shigaraki says before driving to a different destination, the night sky gleamed above the tall hill, you were right on top of the building and city centre. Dabi smirk bringing the cremation flames from his fingers, blue flicking through the night, you see Bakugo who notices your uneasiness. He doesn’t question it before the flames from Dabi hit at the building, it instantly become engulphed, Bakugo’s own explosions follow. The city became filled with the bright blues and yellows as destruction was underneath you all.
“What happened?” Bakugo asked as you were all made to watch the city deteriorate under the cascading flames.
You turn to him, grabbing his hand as tears fall out from your eyes. “She made me kill someone.”
He doesn’t speak, only closing his eyes. “There were people in the city who are now hurt because of me, we’re both in this together.” He whispers.
You both held onto each other’s hands, tears pricking your face as his own eyes became watered. The flames filled the town as you both knew you were the cause of the many casualties below you; you watched the ignited world beneath you as you had become something you never expected murderers and worst of all this wouldn’t be the worst thing, they’d make you both do.
