dorlene july event

sapphic relationships are put to the sidelines and given less focus, in not just this fandom but in others as well. so since dorlene is mine and zandra's favourite ship; this july, @lesbianmckinnonn and i are hosting another dorlene july event!

we've co-hosted a previous dorlene july event last year and we agreed that we both wanted to carry it on! so we're very excited to run this again!!

we accept any kinds of art: writing, fanart (in whichever format you choose), moodboards, cosplays, playlists (pls post a link to them on here though!), you name it, it's allowed!

the tag for this event will be '#dorlene july event', so please post all works as such!!

we have a few rules:

no smut. neither i nor alice post smut at all, and the posts you will make for the event will be reblogged by either one of us or both of us, so please keep the posts appropriate.

only dorlene-centric! since we want this event to be about dorlene, we want posts with a focus on dorlene. even if the art has other ships / characters, the main has to be dorlene.

you may post to other social medias! that means instagram, tiktok, ao3, etc. but please tag them with the '#dorlene july event' tag so that lily and i can see the amazing things you do this month!

we also accept works about them as individuals, not just about their relationship! despite their relationship being underrated, so are the characters, and we need more rep!

the older i get and the closer i am to reaching 30, the more the people around me try to deny me my age. it’s a constant ‘oh you’re just turning 29 again teehee 🤭’ or ‘dont tell your SO that, he’ll leave you for a younger model 😉’ and i just???? hate it?????????

i spent my entire teenaged years fighting for my life. i crawled through the deepest pits of my depression to cling to the promise of a life beyond that pain. i was so convinced that i was going to die young, that i would never see the grace of my age starting with a 2, let alone 3.

so im going to turn 30, and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do to stop me from loving it.

my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!

the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.

and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!

hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!
