Me remembering that FeMC route was excluded from Reload which means we're never getting a voiced Saori and we're never going to hear Hidetoshi's love confession voiced and we're never going to see all the extra moments between FeMC and the female characters in new graphics and we're never gonna see Junpei and FeMC posing at the print club arcade together and we're never going to see Junpei walking around with a bruise after beating up the creep after FeMC and we're never going to hear Akihiko call out Aigis for being a huge lesbian in the middle of the jungle NOR are we ever going to see Akihiko give the FeMC the music box at Christmas and we're never going to see a Theodore/Elizabeth and FeMC cutscene and we're actually never going to see an updated cutscene featuring the FeMC ever!!!!

Hey can you tell me why you like persona? Im considering buying it and would like some opinions
Tumblr media
HOO FUCKIN BOY
persona is one of those series that each have their own plotline and cast (though have overarching things, as mentioned later), so you can jump in at any point. which one are you considering purchasing? (i went persona 3 > 4 > 2 > 5, and i still haven’t finished either of the 2 games or touched the first one.)
in general, the persona series is FUCKING FANTASTIC.
it has everything. it’s a dungeon crawler, dating sim, high school simulator (yes, you even take exams), plus pokemon, which are actually demons/spirits/mythological figures from the human subconscious. persona is hard to pin down as any one thing, except perhaps “jrpg”. each game has its own genre, too, and mood - persona 3 is far darker than persona 4, for example. (persona 4 is the happiest game about murder you will ever play.)
the persona series combines jungian psychology, every mythology ever, a nice dose of fantasy and supernatural elements, and puts it in a shaker with a buttload of good plot and even better characters.
seriously. i suggest starting the series at 3, just because from 3 onward we have the social link system. basically, it means every major arcana is assigned to a character - and then you have the option to “max” their social link. in practice, it means each of these characters has a full character arc, that you get to explore over time while going through the plot with them. persona characters often get into some very heavy themes, but it’s no less touching for it. there’s something human about all of their struggles and how you uncover them (and help them!). also, there’s a social link with a lot of animals, too. you get to pet a dog and gain a rank. what’s not to love.
each of the games has its own style and beautiful mood, plus COLOR CODING. i love color coding. especially when it comes to characters. (thank you, persona 4.) and you know what else is fucking great? PERSONA MUSIC. each game, again, has its own feel, but god persona music runs the entire spectrum of genre and sound. there’s opera, there’s classical, there’s acid jazz, there’s shit that sounds like it’s out of silent hill and then shit that sounds like lady gaga’s wet dream.
a lot of the basic elements are the same throughout the story - a “persona” is a weaponized ego that you use to fight “shadows”, which are the bad parts of humanity’s psyche (or, in cases of particularly strong egos, a shadow can be spawned from a specific single person). the combat can be difficult. it’s turn-based, and based on elemental stuff, with lots of options for customization with movesets and type alignments.
but come on, why wouldn’t you want to play with a giant throbbing green penis on a golden war chariot that manifests as humanity’s greed for sex, money, and violence? cowards, that’s who.
most of the games have multiple endings, and combined with personas and social links, it can take awhile to get a complete playthrough. but in general, the games have pretty high replay value, even if they’re long as balls. IT ADDS TO THEIR CHARM.
also, persona games are a fucking aesthetic. i’m sure everyone has seen just how swanky persona 5 looks by now, but let’s not forget the happy neon yellow of the murder mystery (4) or the eerie, dripping moon and giant bloody coffins of 3. also, in 2, you fight hitler as a boss. his persona is from lovecraftian mythology. why aren’t you jumping on the chance to play these games yet.
(i also forgot but it also delves a lot into sexuality - the “canon” romance of p2 is the queer one, p3p female route lets you be lesbian with a robot and an avatar of power, p4 has a mess of canon queer characters THAT’S RIGHT PLURAL BABY, and p5 is... well, atlus are fucking cowards. but the subtext is there, at least. it slaps you in the face. a lot. ATLUS YOU’RE FUCKING COWARDS.)
