#throughout the journey pre-loops siffrin was working on the next book

#but yknow. stuff was going on so writing wad slow and he was writing in poterian or smth so no one else could read what he was writing

#so no one else knew

#not helped with siffrin probably writing when no one was around

#as a way to keep his mind occupied yknow? probably why he started writing in the first place. fun thing to do while aimlessly wandering

#around thats different from wood carving and just trying to survive

#and siffrin didnt want to show his party because thats Embarrassing anyway so no one even knew he writes

#and then the loops happen and writing becomes the furthest thing from his mind

#and he doesnt bother trying to write post-loops either

#still trying to recover and all

#but throughout this time mira is like “theres not been another book of the cursing pf chateau castle... i hope the author is okay”

#and siffrin is like “yea thatd be bad” still not realizing who the author is

#so like a year or two passes and siffrin is like “okay. yknow. maybe i should pick up writing this book again”

#and late at night at that inn he starts writing again and just gets in the groove of writing

#and hes like writing so long under candlelight in the reception area that everyone starts getting worried

#so mira gets up to go check up on siffrin who got caught in a snag in writing and trying to figure out where to take the story

#and mira asks whats up and siffrin figures that he might as well ask one of the big book readers i

#of the group what her opinion of where to go should be

#(even if its kind of embarrassed)

#so siffrin starts explaining the current situation which turns into mira asking for previous details on what happened

#and mira starts putting two and two together for everything and goes “WAIT!!! YOU!!! THIS SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE CURSING OF CHATEAU CASTLE!#and siffrin is like “???”

#and mira is like “ARE YOU THE AUTHOR OF THE CURSING OF CHATEAU CASTLE SIFFRIN???”

#and siffrin is like “no??? this book is called (insert book here)???”

#and mira is like “but this is all too similar to the cursing of chateau castle!!!”

#so the two go on a quest to figure out who the author is and low and behold

#its siffrin

#and siffrin is just like “W H A T”

#and mira is like “IM??? FRIENDS??? WITH THE AUTHOR OF MY FAVORITE BOOK SERIES??? AND I DIDNT KNOW??? WHAT IS MY LIFE”

Funniest thing about this is that Mira would probably wake up in a cold sweat three nights later and then scream into a pillow at the realization that she might have just spoilered herself on the next volume by having that conversation with Siffrin (unless he changes enough in the next draft or something).

Or else Siffrin is the one who wakes up with that realization, and then Odile teases them mercilessly for the fact that he can't avoid spoilers no matter what he does.

It might encourage the others to learn the original language it was written in, though! And they could possibly be the origin of a "subs vs. dubs" debate, novel edition. Or at least a debate on the merits and detractions of localization.

You know what would be really funny?

If Siffrin was the author of the "Cursing of Chateau Castle" series.

They just don't realize that it is their book series Mirabelle and that guy in Dormont keep talking about because he wrote it in a different language initially, did it under a pen name, and the translators changed all the characters names and the series title so it would "better fit Vaugaurdian standards." Also the books have different cover art than in the original language/printing.

They hear Mirabelle discussing a few snippets, but just assumes the tropes he was using were more common than he initially assumed. And the first parts of the series were written so many years ago that they've forgotten the specifics of some of it--a problem that only gets worse as the loops go on.
