ok i might be talking complete nonsense here, but. the Strict Order as a metaphor for an author facing writer's block.

"the Strict Order abandoned the world," yeah if i wrote a sweet potato story where the main character just keeps suffering with no sign of resolution, i'd drop the story too (<- has actually done this with a tesilid fanfic orz)

"The world rejected the Strict Order's abandonment, so to keep the world going the Strict Order made Tesilid keep rewinding time." That's just like when you get stuck at a certain point in the plot and keep rewriting the events leading up to that moment to try to make it work. nods sagely i understand. i too make my OCs go through scenarios lots of times until we get it right. sometimes it takes months. sometimes it never works.

"The saintess only exists in timeline ~86," oh yes, the classic 'idk how to solve this problem so i'll introduce a new character' trick. i'm familiar

"okay but if time looping is the Strict Order rewriting the story, then why can Tesilid remember it" because the author already wrote those scenes and it'll be sad to throw them all out. and also it's a cool gimmick to have a regressor story. (<- has drastically changed the premise and worldbuilding of a story just to make an alternate timeline relevant before)

"what about ailette's existence--" same as muriel, where you insert a new character in hopes of solving a plot problem. except this time the characters write the plot themselves, because just this once you give priority to their character traits & goals rather than where you thought you wanted the plot to go. (tesilid has someone he can be himself around and who can do certain things on his behalf, instead of being fully constrained by his obligations. ailette gets insane buffs instead of being restricted by the world's difficulty.) therefore the chars now have more agency and are not only solving problems, but also taking the story in a direction you never would have thought of before. (whatever the hell tesilid and ailette are cooking rn, separately, which is surely going to result in interesting developments later on)

tldr; the strict order as a metaphor for an author who hit writer's block. their friend World Shaper inserts their OC Ailette in and their writing style is to let the characters run away with the plot. it works. world shaper and all their friends are co-writers working on the story together and reacting to it in real time.

#s-class heroine spoilers #if the themes of this story are actually orv-esque in that it becomes meta about the writer-reader-char relationship #then my mind will actually be very blown #like im extrapolating a lot here #im only able to make these comparisons bc orv changed the way i read fiction forever #anw no one tell me if i got it right i legit have not read any spoilers #im at mirror dungeon now #wait maybe im onto something #the timelines being linear and not recursive (ie. reed does not have his own ailette) makes sense as well bc with this timeline #the story has finally reached its end and the authors can put down their pens #no more writing no more regressing in order to get scenarios right #like SPOILERS FOR ORV SPOILERS FOR ORV SPOILERS FOR ORV MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ORV #LIKE RLY MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ORV IM SO SERIOUS #like for orv it makes sense that the timeloops are recursive #because YOU are kim dokja #the story keeps being written bc the kimcom want kdj back #there is no world where the regressions wont occur bc yhk want each other to be happy #and they will keep the timeloop going if thats what it takes to keep the other alive #yhs dooms the world with her pen (keyboard) because she wants that teenager to live #because she realised he will type 'how to survive' and she wants him to survive no matter how cringe he is #no matter how ruined the world he will be living in would be #woah.... fuck orv (positive)

emotional about my favorite book on this Midnight On Monday

#i just am so sad about how the most important character of the first book becomes nothing but a memory for readers 😔#people probably don't actually see him as that important for real but.#he's the reason the main character survives the first book #he's the reason the three main characters of the third even survive long enough to go through everything in that book #in the direct situation that could've killed the main character. this kid is the reason five different characters are alive #and if they died there would probably be a hell of a lot more going down to at least metaphorically end the other mc's life #and without him and the fem lead. a hell of a lot of other characters would then die #hell you could probably argue the events of the third book would still happen just without the trio + the men looking for them to stop it #without this kid there'd be a huge butterfly effect of people dying and people having their lives ruined #i could be thinking too into it but god!!!! this kid is extremely important to the main character #and he did so much to make her life better and even continue in just one action #there's no reason to mention him just once in like. ten more books #it's a crime fiction series i get that there's not a lot you can do with a child character not involved in the crime scenarios #but the authors could fit him in the first book just fine #sorry im annoying about him. i hate that all he really is is a character to give grace the necklace that saved her life #he could be so much more.

This is in no way of hating but i want to know why do you enjoy writing noncon/rape? When I first downloaded tumblr which was couple of months ago i was surprised by the amount of noncon fics here. I eventually came to enjoy them which makes me question myself. Whenever i read a noncon fic and enjoy it i feel like im betraying women who actually went through those traumatic events. Plus I actually don't really like dark romance books? I love cod dead dove and that is mainly because i really love the characters and the authors are so talented. I rambled so much and i hope you don't get this in the wrong way i don't mean to hate AT ALL i love the stuff you write. Maybe i shouldn't think too much and let myself enjoy what im reading lol

first of all, no worries! i wasn't sure about your tone/intentions at first, but by the end i was totally fine with the question.

i actually don't mind talking about this stuff - i just sometimes avoid it on main because i prefer chatting about it privately.

second, i'm no psychologist or sociologist, so i probably won't be able to give you the most satisfactory answer, but i think there are a lot of different reasons. i can only name a few. one thing i should mention right off the bat is that rape fantasies are very normal (and this is true whether you're a survivor of SA or not) and writing/reading fiction can be a safe way to process those thoughts/feelings.

one of prevailing reasons is, of course, that many survivors of SA use noncon/dubcon literature/art as a way of processing their experiences and taking ownership of their trauma.

and look, people are going to go back and forth on this point (i've seen it all before - many people refuse to believe that engaging with noncon lit/art is helpful, and in fairness, it's NOT helpful for everyone because every person is different), but at the end of the day, if a survivor tells you "writing/reading this was helpful in my recovery" then that's that!

additionally, for many women and non-binary folk (i can only speak as a cis woman, but i'm sure this is a shared lived experience across many different people), we're also taught from a very young age to suppress our sexual desires / that being open about our sexuality is morally reprehensible and shameful. and a lot of people carry that shame for years, impacting them well into adulthood. so dubcon/noncon fantasies can be a way of being able to enjoy sexual scenarios where you don't have to be the initiator, thus taking away some of the emotional weight and shame.

plus, at the end of the day (and im sure many people will disagree with this take, it's something that i'm still figuring out myself), there is a kind of weird underlying consent implicit in dark fics. like, you might be reading a fic or novel that's ostensibly noncon, but you're also actively seeking out that literature (hopefully it's not just sprung on you - i do very much agree with tagging to the fullest extent and my lukewarm take is that I think all books, even traditionally published ones, should come with content/trigger warnings too).

there are a medley of reasons why someone might write or read dark fiction/dark romance. again, i'm just one person and i can only speak from my own experience!

i think at the end of the day, the important thing to realize is that fiction is fake, and as long as the writer appropriately tags their work and ensures that the audience is aware of what they're getting into when they start reading, they're not coercing the reader into something they aren't prepared for.

and it's totally fine if you have limits (like, you can read and enjoy dubcon, but not noncon) or can't engage with the material at all, but it's also unfair to say that it reflects someone's real life values - the same way that we don't say that the people who enjoy crime fiction must love murder.

and the last thing i want to say because this got a bit out of hand lol, is that, yes, for some people dark fiction is genuinely harmful, whether or not they're a survivor. it's not for everyone and that's completely fine and i'm aware of that, which is why i agree that you should tag as much as possible (even if you feel like you're overdoing it sometimes), but someone else's discomfort doesn't give them the right to tell you how to process your own emotions/experiences/desires/etc.

as long as no one's getting hurt, there's no issue as far as i'm concerned. and sorry but, no one's getting hurt by reading a fic or a novel unless the author didn't give proper content warnings - if you "forgot" to read the tags or read anyway DESPITE being warned, im sorry but that's life.

Somebody's gotta play mean here and there, its what keeps gears turning. Not everyone is going to directly side with Cody and understand them. Sometimes you need conflict, it can't be sunshine and roses and everyone Agrees with Cody every time. And hell, without conflict like that, how are we going to get the moments like Cody seeing the auroras? I really loved that moment, it was sweet, sometimes the bad moments can make the good moments all the more fonder. Also I wanted to state... not every interaction that's a fight like that between two people is inherently abusive, people are going to have arguments and harsh words will be thrown along with accusations, especially since both see the other as strangers, some people aren't going to trust Cody and are going to be harsh and rude about it the same way Cody has been. Some are going to mirror how Cody treats them. What I was going for was Directly Vindictive and Harsh, the fact that you are worried about that shows that I did my job right, and as they said, if Sparks couldn't handle I would hope they would just ignore the ask and hell maybe even say to tone it down. TDLR: Not everyone is going to be especially kind and endeared to Cody, some people are going to act out just the same as they do. AND I AM A WRITER NOT AN ABUSER. PLEASE. The point of this ask is uh: I like to think I know my limits, I stick to the rules and only do what is allowed. It doesn't feel too great being compared to an abuser when I am just trying to help move a story forward. I am not abusive for being mean to a fictional character, and I am in no way attempting to be mean to Sparks when I do so. Sorry about the Novel, I just wanted to help clear some things up, because this has happened before with one of my purposefully persecutory asks and hoo boy! it doesn't feel too great that it's happening again. I promise I am not trying to hurt Sparks. I just like conflict in stories and how the characters react to such conflicts. I'm lucky enough, compared to this author, to have little awareness of any kind of gender-related social expectations until my late teens, and lucky enough to know my identities since early teenage and be proud of them although others told me otherwise. I know I'm pansexual, nonbinary (pangender & genderfluid), but recently it still doesn't feel right.

It's not a matter of self-recognition. Simply, I feel anxiety-struck after socializing - even in imaginary scenarios, eg. in stories I wrote and am about to write - I feel incomplete and constrained.

I want to be nonbinary when it feels right, to be a boy when it feels right, and to be a girl when it feels right, ... without the burden that I once presented myself and hence existed in others' memories otherwise. I would like a society where every kind of identity shift is welcomed and a person owning a myriad of identities is tolerated, but that is far from reality. Living in a transphobic environment makes it hard to cheat myself, even to have some fictional solace.

I even tried to use multiple social media accounts to represent by avatars a boy version and a girl version of myself (?) but that doesn't work. Online albeit, If I choose to be a boy, the label will stick around. People follow the suit. I feel dreadful that once I am known to anyone, I lose the freedom to change, redefine and hide away myself. And holy crap, this problem isn't limited to gender.

Being pangender is like living the life as a spectrum - you know from inside that the spectrum exists as a whole, but in most cases you have to choose a facet of yourself to show to the world, and unfortunately we live in a monochromatic world that only recognizes one person one color once and for all, such a world that colorful people are so rare, hence disregarded, and even treaded and bullied upon.

he won't let anyone get too close in the first place. nope, not happening. much like the previous hc's i wrote for yan! piochan, he's extremely violent and completely open about it. he would pass it off as him just getting jealous and going too far by "accident". part of you would begin to wonder if it was an accident when he kept doing it, continuing to leave the mangled and disgusting bodies of the people close to you in the streets. he won't give a fuck if you see, it's better off that way anyway so you can see how much you mean to him. he'll worship you like a damn deity, believing all the disgusting people you considered friends and family don't deserve you at all. they're sickening really, trying to taint you. he's just doing his job and keeping you safe from their disgusting presence and tainting your beauty and grace, and he will NOT stand for that. you're his fucking deity for god's sake (haha im very funny) and he won't allow anyone to get close to you at risk of diluting your grace.

vezalius bandage ->

oh my god i've been waiting to write this one. he's so sweet it's almost unreal, always giving out freshly baked pastries to your friends and family. the only strange thing is that he won't let you have one. it's no surprise to him when your loved ones come to him a few days later complaining to the medic of sickness. let's just say his various scalpels were stained with blood that day. that's his way of doing things, making them all depend on him for healing then simply disposing of their bodies later. sometimes he'll simply add extra arsenic or cyanide to the things he gives out and let them go quietly. as long as he has you all to himself, it doesn't really matter. he's not all violence though, he'll also make your loved ones simply cut all contact with you. the day you made your relationship with him official, he would be willing to do it all a thousand times over just to feel your kiss again.

i can also get well enough into character to genuinely provoke tears in an acting scenario. though im a quick crier regardless so that doesnt say much
