#im lowkey worried abt this so i used this as a practice to write a poly ship

TITLE :  hit the pause button,  we’re all that matters  . PAIRINGS :   poly!dean x reader x cas .   REQUEST :   Cas + dean + reader all doing a self care day (at readers request) and have it involve fluffy stuff like putting mud masks on each other NOTE : with me making this a series,  i decided to focus on the mud mask part for now  !  the bath part of the request will turn up at some point on the blog though <3  INSPO :   and you can tell everybody this is your song, it may be quite simple but now that it's done : i hope you don't mind, i hope you don't mind that i put down in words how wonderful life is while you're in the world. 

   IT TOOK A GOOD COUPLE OF DAYS OF PESTERING .   cas and dean were not only two of the most stubborn people on the planet,  but they were also major workaholics that never truly knew when to lay weapons down and call it a day  .  certainly a deadly and highly frustrating combo,  though you weren’t the one to point fingers...   couldn’t just blame them for it,  you were the same in that regard -  but at least you took off the rose tinted glasses every so often,   seeing that what you were all doing was utterly exhausting,  dragging each of you down in such a way that you felt not only yourself,  but your two boyfriends changing .  you noticed how cas begins to act like the serious angel that first stepped foot on earth,  how his eyes hardened and began to cut jokes short and patience run thin .  how dean never seemed to come to bed anymore,  how the bags under his eyes got deeper and there isn’t much spare beer in he fridge  .   you began to feel lonely,  the work effecting you in a way that just made you quiet and less responsive .    getting involved had to happen sooner or later  (  you’ll beat yourself up over this,  it should’ve been sooner,  you left it too late this time . )  

    SO IT STARTED BY HINTING AT THEM TO TAKE A BREAK,  an attempt to try and get them to admit how exhausted they were,  how everything seemed to just ware them down .  at first,  dean just pressed a barely there kiss to your lips   “ we need to get this done,  baby “  then, castiel wrapped his arms around your shoulders and burying his face into your hair with a sigh  “ dean is right,  we must focus on the task at hand,  our enemies do not sleep “   you just bit your lip, nodding weakly and allowing them to continue .   but you were persistent,    a quality that your boys absolutely worshiped in you and at times,  hated .   

    IT’S WHEN YOUR HINTING BECAME POINTLESS DID YOU TAKE ACTION,   you knew the cold shoulders weren’t on purpose,  that the world should come first ...  and while its selfish to ask...  why is that  ?  you’re certainly not against stopping the impending doom,  but why should you all work yourselves to death,  why should the three of you not stop to breathe and remember that they need to save the world,  not for everyone else,  but for yourselves  ?   so you had bought a spa kit,   not the cheap kind,  the kind where you winced at the receipt and instantly threw it away (  along with tearing price tags off of items )  -  it’s not the type of money you had,  but you knew the long run would be worth far more than an extra digit  .      

    PULLING IT OFF WAS EASIER THAN YOU PLANNED  .    you had never seen them so out of it to not notice you up to something,  you remember when you were planning on stealing deans plaid shirt for the day and he had noticed how fidgety you were, he had wasted no time calling you out with a big grin on his face -  for you to be sneaking around,  walking up and down and not really talking to them,  and for them to say nothing ?   you knew it was bad,  and this idea couldn’t have come quick enough .  you had everything set up in a few hours,    making face masks,  cutting cucumbers,  setting up a movie marathon, this was going to be the best,  most relaxing night ever,  you were going to make sure of it .     

    “ RIGHT BOYS “   hands clapping loudly and entering the main room where cas and dean were, holding some comfortable clothes under your arms for them to get changed into,  you yourself was dressed in a old button up of castiels topped of with some fuzzy slippers  .  dean had just entered the room with a beer in hand,  his only form of break he understands, castiel then placed the book down on the table delicately to give you his attention  “  WE NEED A BREAK,  i’m not giving you an option -  i don’t think you both realize how much...  this is getting to us all “ you tried your best to remain excited,  ignoring how sad you sounded towards the end,  dean opened his mouth to speak and you could already predicted the protest   “ ah ah ah ,   mr.  i haven’t slept in the same bed as my girlfriend and boyfriend in four weeks,  you definitely don’t get a say ! “   you placed the clothes on the table,  pushing castiel clothes to him and skipping towards dean to hand them over  “  CHANGE,  NOW “ 

    “ I LOVE IT when you get all bossy “  dean muttered,  you couldn’t hold back the laugh and the eye roll as you walked away .

  THAT WAS AN HOUR AGO .  a western played softly in the background as you finally convinced castiel to put the face mask on,  surprisingly enough you had thought dean would protest the idea but he was onboard the minute you brought out the bowl,  castiel however was very much wary -  it took a while of pestering on both your part and deans,  but eventually he caved,  allowing you to sit on his lap as dean cuddled against his side .  

   “ THIS IS A WEIRD SENSATION “  castiel mumbled, one hand reaching over to hold dean and the other under your ( his ) shirt and tracing idle patterns into your hip  “ this is mud,  i fail to see where the relaxation comes into it “

   “ IT’S NOT ACTUALLY MUD “  dean grins,  pressing a kiss to his neck,  resisting the urge to nuzzle into the skin as to avoid ruining his own face   “  plus,  you have to actually relax for it to work “

   “ HA,  like you’d know anything about relaxing ! “  smile is splitting face,  for the first time in a while you feel utterly carefree,  you’d missed this  -  missed them  “  i can see the knots in your shoulder from here “  there’s some quick fire retaliation,  both in scoffing and dean ungracefully shoving his hand in the bowl and swiping more of the pack across your face,   at the show castiel couldn’t help but just sit back and watch with a gentle smile on his face,  blue hues bright with utter adoration for the two humans .  he never thought he’d be here,  sure the life they were living was both dangerous and unpredictable,  but for the first time in his life he’s never felt more at ease, felt belonging .    just like a million times before,  he can’t help but inwardly promise himself,   he would do anything to protect his two humans .   anything .  oh,  how dangerous was that   ?  

    “ SHUT UP,  i’m trying to watch the movie ! “      “ you STARTED it,  you cowboy loving - “ 

   CASTIEL SUDDENLY MAKES A PANICKED NOISE,  feeling the layer of crap on his face harden the longer he sits there,  stopping the ever escalating fight of  both of yours and deans   “  the mud is hardening,  this is not relaxing,  is it meant to do this  ?  “  you and dean instantly tried not to laugh at the angel,  dean failing of cause  .  

    “ OKAY,  LETS TRY THIS - “  dean grinned,  waving you off of castiel as he gently forced cas to lay back further,  picking up two slices cucumbers from the plate on the table  “ close your eyes,  feathers “   castiel squints at him at first,  but eventually agrees and body jolting at the cold slices on lids  “  EASY,  just let yourself,  feel it - “   you grin,  instantly picking up on deans idea as you slide into the other side of cas,  hand gently rubbing his shoulder as dean followed suit  - it was an awkward position for the both of you,  but the angel soon managed to melt into into the touches,  a small sigh passing lips   “  are you feeling it ?  “  

    “ I UH ...  I THINK I AM,  the mask is still uncomfortable for me .  but i think i am more feeling the presence of you both,  it has been ...  a long time it feels since we’ve been like this  “  at his words,  you visibly melted,  a love struck face instantly taking over  -  dean couldn’t help the gentle smile,  no edge,  no teasing ...  he thinks... no,  knows cas is right  “  this was a good idea,  y/n.  we should certainly do this more often “ 

    “ WE COULD DO DATE NIGHTS...  again,  maybe once a week  ?  every three if we have to make it more flexible... with everything going on “  your words unsure,  almost shy,  it had dean raising his free hand to gently cup your face,  rubbing your cheek with his thumb  .  

    “ WE CAN DO THAT... i’m sorry i haven’t been around you guys much “  his own heart beats a little faster as you lean into his palm,  kissing it with a smile .  though the mood is broken the minute dean drops his touch,   leaning onto cas’ face and picking up the cucumber slice off of his lids  with his teeth,  looking oh so accomplished .  

    “ HM.  that’s the first time i’ve seen you eat healthy, dean ... is that truly the only way we can get you to stop killing your insides ?   eating greens off of me  ? “     deans face flushes bright, stuttering through a come back,  the snort of laughter you make is the most embarrassing noise you’ve ever made  .

ok i really wanna dive into this xicheng gymnast au ive got going on because its self-idulgent a really cool idea and ive been really interested in gymnastics recently (little angst bc im a weak bitch)

here are jiang cheng, nie huaisang, wei wuxian designs; ill add more as i draw

so jc, nhs, and wwx are popular rhythmic gymnasts and are a fan favourite in the fandom (?)

jc loves the ribbon but can also do club and rope; nhs does ball, ribbon and club; wwx can do all five (ribbon, ball, hoop, club, and rope) but he likes doing hoops the most

the three of them are pretty close since they have time to chitchat at the small louge area for resting; theyre also often called the powerpuff girls (ppg) since they wear red, green and purple (ik bubbles is blue but just roll w it)

jc has a no. 1 fan, like the biggest jc fan ever, and its a famous musician, lan xichen; literally his social media is filled with jc photos, fancams, and videos (sometimes he posts selfies with his jc merch that me probably made on his own)

ppg knows about lxc and teases jc about him so much

"did you see his face lighting up once it was jc's turn? he even brought a handmade light up banner for him omg"

jc is both flattered and annoyed (mostly because he gets teased a lot for it) but every gift lxc gives him (read: yeets on the floor) is treasured

its mostly bouquets of lotus flowers and teddy bears (there are times when he throws heavily a box safely wrapped in thick bubble wrap and tons and tons of tape and inside is just cute bracelets, necklaces and rings)

anyways, one day at a competition, ppg makes a bet that if jc gets a score higher than 18 in ribbons, then he has to go to lxc and ask him out

jc is torn bc he really wants a high score but is too shy to ask lxc out

jc's too shy to do it in person so he reaches out thru twt and dms him a

they do fight over how jc's still being cold after months of dating and the fact that their relationship is still a secret doesnt help AT ALL

after numerous fights about it, lxc breaks and unloads all of HIS insecurity

"ive been feeling like ive forced you into this relationship, that my love and adoration for you made you feel as if you needed to compensate for that like how you did when we first went out. you've been cold and reject my affection and it hurts me even though i know you've said that you're just not used to it, but jiang cheng, we've been dating for 8 months now and i was so sure that by this point you'd be more comfortable. i love you a-cheng but i feel like you dont love me back."

nhs and wwx obvi helps him brainstorm ideas as to how to apologize and show lxc that jc truly loves him the same way but theyre so busy with training and practicing for finals wHEN SUDDENLY NHS GOES

BOOM jc gets the same costume from his routine tailored in white and blue and gets a pearlescent ribbon, shining blue to purple and wears pretty cloud earrings and replaces his zidian ring with a matching cloud ring

he goes to his finals in that costume AND ALL HIS FANS RIOT

lxc is obvi there at the finals because he is first and foremost, jc's no. 1 fan

nmj and lwj are with lxc bc lxc needs emotional support, and with the added bonus of jc's beautiful costume and accessories, he just LOSES it and cries on the spot bc hes a softie

jc performs his routine, gets an unbelievable high score and wins a gold medal (deserve) and on the podium, he asks for a mic and tells the whole fucking world his feelings for lxc

it ends with lxc posting numerous selfies of him and jiang cheng being lovey dovey with a really cheesy caption that probably goes like

"HE HAS NO RIGHT TO MAKE MY KOKORO GO DOKI DOKI" or "i love one (1) man and its my boyfriend- oops i meant fiance"

in short i woke up and she asked me to be her gf again sOo, lol it’s all fun. aaannnddd here we go okay i literally just texted my gf as i write this oof but i think one of the fondest memories i have is both kinda negative but i view it positively? it was around the end of january in 2016 and we had been talking for a month or so. at the time i wasn’t in the best state of mind. i don’t remember the conversation word for word, but i have recollection of crying a lot at school waiting for my exam and just realizing how much i cared abt her and her about me and i think that marks the moment we became best friends rlly and damn who would even think to get to where we are now oof not me?? 5. have you ever confessed your feelings to someone? yeah okay. from seventh grade until 11th i had a huge crush on this boy in my class. he was always doing crazy cool exchange programs. in 8th grade he went to school in coasta rica for a year, we e-mailed (lmao) all the time while he was gone. he came back in 9th grade and i was so so excited to see him again. he left again in 10th grade, and that was a hard year for me. my dad and step mom (who practically raised me) were getting divorced and i was going through some weird shit with an older guy (gross. he’s gross and predatory and i didnt know better cause i was like 15/16). so i started drinking and sneaking out and partying. 

the kid i had a crush on came back in 11th grade and i was ecstatic. we picked up our friendship where we left it off. but here’s the kicker: he was (and probably still is? but probably isnt as much of a hardass about it) a devout christian, and drinking was NOT in line with his values. he had heard from his mom that i had been doing stuff like that, and he brought it up and said he was concerned. i told him i’d stop, because i was young and i had had a crush on this kid for over four years at this point, and our mutual friend kept dropping hints that he was interested, and.. sigh. so i told him i’d cut the partying and he said he had to see it. fast forward to spring, i applied and got into a program which sends students to japan for two weeks, and this kid also got in, and i was STOKED to be in japan with him for two weeks. the first week it was fun. our last night in tokyo, i wanted to spend some time alone with him, and the rest of our friends were planning to buy some sake (we were literally 16 but they did it, they didnt get carded) and drink it at the hotel, and they wanted me to distract him cause they were worried he’d rat them out, and i was so down to try that because i wanted to spend time with him anyways. so i asked if he wanted to go on an adventure–just go get on a random subway line and see where it leads. he kinda blew me off, which stung. then in an effort to get him to hang out with me, i told him what the other kids were planning (they had specifically told me not to tell him). i told him, and said “so i really think we should just go somewhere else so we dont have to be around that.” he didnt listen to me, instead he followed the rest of the group into the convenience store and they were like uhhh, then he went up to my friend hannah and was like “so you’re buying sake huh?” and she looked at me like what the fuck arianna and i looked at her like im sorry i couldnt get him to come with me and he was like whatever and then he left the convenience store and our other friend jay went with him. i assumed they went back to the hotel. so i went back as well but they werent there. when i asked someone else where they were, they said “oh, they went out into the city on a random subway line just to go on an adventure!” the literal exact thing i had suggested. i was livid. moreso, i was really hurt. so i decided to say fuck it and get drunk, cause i had been abstaining from alcohol ALL YEAR for the sake of this ONE GUY who had really played me and led me on ALL FUCKING YEAR and lowkey for the past FOUR YEARS. so i was like, whatever. so i got drunk. then jay and the guy came back from their adventure. i asked my other drunk companions if i seemed sober (bad, bad idea. they were not good judges) they all said i seemed fine, so i went to give the kid a piece of my mind. get to his room and its just him cause his roommate had been with us in the drinking room. so i say, hey i need to talk to you. the first thing he asks is if i had drank, and i said no, like a liar with a big fat crush. then we sit down on opposite beds, and i told him i was really hurt that he rejected my offer to go on an adventure and immediately did the same thing with jay. he gave me a bs excuse like “it was kinda spontaneous” and i was like, thats bullshit. then i poured out my heart, about crushing on him for the last four years, about being a good friend when he dated hannahkate in seventh grade, about always waiting for him to come back, about working so hard to stop drinking just to be the person he wanted me to be. and i told him i loved him.

his response? “thank you for telling me.” and it shattered my heart.

when he walked me to the door of his room, he said “by the way. you were slurring the whole time, and your breath smells like alcohol. i knew you had drank from the start.” needless to say, THAT was embarrassing.

i go back to the room, drink more, eventually everyone leaves and its me and hannah. i tell her what happened, freak out a bit, cry.

the next day we woke up kinda early and went to this man-made island place i dont remember the name of, and we spent the day there. i was really quiet and reserved all day (not like me, then or now). i did not eat. when we got back to the hotel that night, hannah gave me a melon bread, and i said i wasnt hungry. she said “you havent eaten all day. if you dont eat this right now, im going to take your phone, delete [kid’s name] from all your contacts, delete every picture or video you have on your phone, erase him from your life. do you want that?” to which i said, no. and i ate the bread. it was tough love and i needed it. i was a little better the next day.

a few days later in kyoto the kid and i talked on a rooftop at sunset. i felt a little better after that. it was hard going through all of that, after four years of pining for him, but.. it was good. it was closure. i laid my cards on the table, i finally told him how i felt, and he rejected me. and it hurt, but there was nothing left to say, and it finally closed that door that had been slightly ajar for four years. and i was able to move on after that, fairly quickly actually. jumping back into partying cause i didnt have someone to impress kind of helped. well, it also kind of spun my life off in a horrible direction that led to a horrible depressing senior year of high school, but thats another story.

yeesh, that was long. on to the next one!!

19. share a positive memory about the last person you texted the most recent person i texted is my friend named nico. the first memory that comes to mind is last summer, we used to hang out a lot, one night we went to this 24 hour diner called beth’s cafe that we both love. we went at like 4 am and it was so so so fun. afterwards we watched emperors new groove in his bed and then passed out. i love nico so much. we used to be a lot closer in the summer, but at the end of summer i fucked up and we had a falling out. we still are friends and we still talk (i.e. we texted today planning to hang out this week) but.. its not the same. and i really miss the way things were before. golly isnt that bittersweet. now im a lil sad. but thats okay
