Other musicals I like,, Ride the Cyclone, Shrek the Musical, Hadestown, Heathers, Be more chill, Hamilton, Legally Blonde, Anastasia <33, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, The music Man, Guys and Dolls, Chicago <33, A gentlemens guide to love and Murder (Sibella <33), Beetlejuice (kinda), The Lion king, Book of Mormon, Every Starkid musical except Black friday, Cats (but i haven’t listened to the whole soundtrack nor do I understand the story), Fiddler on the roof
Spongebob Musical is pretty good too, Haven’t heard most of Wicked, les mis, or Phantom of the Opera :0
Edit: I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT THE COMPANY LIKE THAT
I’ve only really seen a few musicals irl (like 2)

name: kai (yes im a trans man named kai, its a good name, okay?)
pronouns: he/they
where do you call home: eh the general answer is west of england, midlands and up. theres a sentimental answer but its a pretty small area so im not gonna potentially dox myself in a tag game dhdjsjs
favourite animal: walrus all the way, baby! although my url is actually unrelated to my love of walruses. theyre just the best animals, theyre big old chunky boys with two big front teeth that can grow to over 3ft in length. when on land, they huddle together in cuddle piles. AND mama walruses can use their flippers to pick up their babies and cuddle them to their chest; tell me thats not the cutest thing youve heard today.
cereal of choice: im not really a cereal person or like a breakfast person at all, but if im having it, golden nuggets or nothin'
visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner: ...all of them? idk, it depends on what im learning. auditory probably less so than the others just because my auditory processing isnt just trash, its trash the binmen wont take.
first pet: my parents had four cats before they had me and my brother so i guess them? they were thomas, alfred, cally and misty. my uncle, who incidentally doesnt believe in seatbelts, named alfred.
favourite scent:
Tumblr media
no but seriously i have a very strong scent of smell which is part of why im such a picky eater like im yet to meet a food that smelt bad and tasted good, but i just,,,, dont have a favourite scent?
my brother gave me a lynx body spray of his he didnt want pretty soon after i came out the third time, as trans this time, and its definitely a he got the spirit moment so i guess that.
do you believe in astrology: nah, its not my thing really. all the more to you if its yours as long as you dont try to ascribe my behaviour to me being a taurus, thats the mental illness or the autism or the adhd or the neurological disorder thats pushing my eyes out of my skull very slowly.
how many playlists on spotify/apple music: 28 which is more than i thought i had. right now, theres only like 3 im cycling through named dead reckoning, the old swan, and dutch angle / danish pastry.
sharpies or highlighters: yeah so like, we could never afford sharpies in my house so its highlighters my default. sharpies are like mega expensive in the uk and by mega expensive, i mean unaffordable for a child of a working class single parent.
songs that make you cry: hmm. thats kinda difficult because whether i cry depends almost entirely on my mood. if i had to name some, i guess id go with:
a little fall of rain, turning and empty chairs at empty tables from the london cast recording of les mis (its vital to specify this, okay?); george blagdens secret? recording of drink with me; breathe from in the heights; flowers, doubt comes in, promises, gone im gone, and we raise our cups from hadestown (are you sensing a theme yet?); unruly heart from the prom; here i go again specifically from the rock of ages musical (and NOT the tom cruise movie, i saw this musical live and i cried); i know where ive been by queen latifah, and also from pretty much any hairspray cast recording; if i met myself again, ugly in this ugly world and hes my boy from everybodys talking about jaime and i have sobbed at all three of these songs.
and finally: grandmas song, deep into the ground, he could be a star and once we were kids from billy elliot, and yes i cry at most of act 2, i was raised working class in a working class area that was once revered for its industry and has since been forgotten and left to drown in poverty, how am i meant to not cry at it?
songs that make you happy: hmm again. throw the entirety of the first mamma mia soundtrack onto the list. then welcome to paradise & coming clean by green day (when i was a very depressed teenager, listening to green day always made me feel better, both about the world and about myself); the irony of choking of a lifesaver by all time low because its moms favourite song of theirs and weve gone to see them live five times together; merry christmas maggie thatcher from billy elliot because fuck that bitch; legend of coco chanel from everybodys talking about jaime; sexy from the mean girls musical; do it for your lover by manel navarro; strangers & i dont want to talk about me by stereo jane (the strangers music video is so fucking bisexual yall); king of my heart by sub-radio; ghost ship of cannibal rats by billy talent; carpe diem by joker out; who the hell is edgar by teya and salena; let me entertain you by robbie williams because i sang it in karaoke as a 7 year old who did not know the words and then proceeded to get obsessed with robbie fucking williams for a while; slipping away by materia; and 68 guns by the alarm which is a funny little one because it reminds me of my dad but i still enjoy the song and ive made a conscious choice not to limit my music taste just because some asshole whos not even a good hobby ghost hunter likes it too, you know?
do you write/draw/create: all three! granted i havent done much of the first two in a while, but on my defense, losing 7-8 months worth of your memories kind of fucks you up and its oddly time consuming. also developing fainting attacks and spending a week in hospital while they fail to figure out whats wrong with you other than weirdly low blood pressure does not help. but i do have a drawing planned out to do and while i went a little too much detail on one small detail (i will justify it as soon as i actually finish it), im going to finish it. i also do origami pretty often as well as baking, and i am currently building a wooden replica of the titanic AND LISTEN, i started before the titan submersible stuff happened and i havent touched it yet because it just feels weird to, you know? also, i didnt even want to do the titanic, but like, good luck finding any starter kits that arent a) titanic and b) upwards of a £100. i would love to do a ss malolo or a mts stockholm but that aint happening and while i might be able to find an ss normandy or ss united states, im not gonna be able to afford. its titanic or bust which sucks.
tagging but no pressure: @bottlesandbarricades @vaellusvitutus @rad-roach

got tagged by the wonderful @lonelyvomit so... here we go 🖤
1. What’s the first song you remember hearing?
Uhm... either one of these kindergarten songs about washing your hands / eating properly or the teletubbies theme.
2. What’s the first band you got into?
Wise Guys! (a German a cappella band)
3. Do you collect physical music? depends. if i really, really like something i'll probably get it on cd and i also have some old vinyls from my grandpa.
4. What is your favorite piece of music memorabilia? i have a signed piece of the stage curtain of (i think) the first tour of beyond the black!
5. What’s your favorite concert that you’ve been to? it's gonna be a tie between Kraftklub, Jennifer Rostock and Querbeat. they all had different energies and stage shows so... can't decide here
6. If you could see any artist that’s no longer alive in concert, who would it be? definitely Freddie Mercury and Prince.
7. Have you met any musicians? i have! most of them are in carnival bands (in cologne) so not like very famous people. and i took a shot with felix from Kraftklub at the after party of their concert here lmao.
8. What’s your go-to album when you’re feeling sad? i usually have a playlist for that, but... i'd probably choose either "kompass ohne norden" by prinz pi or "folklore" by taylor swift.
9. What’s your go-to album when you’re feeling happy?
any (happy) musical soundtrack. mostly "mamma mia - here we go again" or "walking on sunshine"! (or carnival albums, but those are reserved for the season lmao)
10. What is one music documentary that you love? honestly? one direction's "this is us". that shit still makes me emotional and it has been eight years
11. What is one concert DVD that you love? i don't own a concert dvd but i do have several live musicals. and out of those i'd choose "elisabeth - live from the theater in wien"
12. Do you prefer listening to playlists or albums? definitely playlists! i just feel like they serve my mood /needs better.
13. Do you listen to albums in order or on shuffle? depends on the album for me. some you really need to listen to in order because the songs kinda continue a storyline, others you can listen to on shuffle.
14. What is your favorite deep cut song by your favorite artist? not my favourite artist but this song just resonates so hard with me. herbert grönemeyer - der weg.
and im tagging nobody today cause i dont wanna be noisy lmao (but if @sebschicken @violentpop @chaoslaura @cluelessyasmin & @found-bass feel like it they can do it 💞)

progress report: there existed an addiction to blood edition
also the bridgerton edition, and the soul edition and and and.....
basically i consumed a lot of media the past week! let’s go!!
listened: i’ve been listening to a lot of mamma mia and clipping. recently. quite disparate artists to listen to, but they’re both good in their own ways. the mamma mia soundtrack (both of them) are just super fun to listen and sing to, especially when you’re doing the dishes as often as i am.
clipping., on the other hand, is a.....hmm how do i describe clipping.? they’re an experimental noise rap band and they’re fucking incredible. i’ve been listening to them since around 2016? but haven’t been keeping up with their new releases. so, now i am listening to there existed an addiction to blood and visions of bodies being burned, their two latest albums. both deserve accolades. i swear, clipping. gets better with every album they put out; i think splendor and misery, another album of theirs, was even nominated for a hugo award? i don’t think they won but that doesn’t matter; being nominated is enough. anyway listen to this song:
youtube
watched: ok ok ok i just saw season one of bridgerton and im going to be super basic and say that simon, played by regé-jean page, is so blindingly handsome, and topless in most episodes, and so so charming and handsome and has this piercing look that gets me swooning, much like a regency-era lady, and like.... honestly, it doesn’t even feel like he’s acting; i truly and honestly believe that he is a duke. him, and the fact that the show’s premise is based on the fake dating trope, among others, got me hooked. also, for someone who doesn’t like the monarchy, i just love me some fictional royals hehe. i just don’t like the part where [SPOILERS] daphne basically tricks simon into not pulling out like he usually does because she wants a child... that’s basically rape and reproductive control, which is, to put it lightly, not cool. aside from that, i liked the show, cheesy as it is. i do love a good period drama.
another thing that i watched is pixar’s soul and my god. my god. i teared up thrice. (i rate movies on how much they made me tear up/straight up cry - the more tears i shed, the better it is) it’s just what i needed, especially since i’ve been stuck inside the house for almost an entire fucking year now, and have been thinking a lot about my future and my career path. it just hit me so fucking hard. i think it might be pixar’s best creation so far.
i also watched joker. it was okay. the whole time he was dancing on the stairs, i was worried that he’d fall.
also also im watching this documentary series called i love you, now die: the commonwealth vs. michelle carter and wow is it heavy. it tackles this case where a teenage girl basically encouraged her boyfriend through text to commit suicide, and it discusses whether what she did was tantamount to murder. what she did was abhorrent, surely, but i don’t think she alone should be culpable for the guy’s death -- a lot of things were going on in his life and everything coming together is ultimately what pushed him to commit suicide. i don’t know what the outcome is yet since im only halfway through part 2 but i don’t think it’s going to look good for michelle.
played: i haven’t played the sims 4 since september of last year, when i deleted everything, even my 900++ item mods folder. i swore not to be sucked in again but!! i caved!!! and downloaded it (and a few important mods such as wicked whims, basemental drugs, and the ui extension) and i have been played daily since january 15th. my sim, who has two boyfriends who are also in love with each other and have other lovers, has two kids now and i’ve been raising them the best that i could. but honestly? honestly?? it’s not as fun as sims 2. raising a family and building generations of sims was more fun in sims 2. and sims 3, actually. all that sims 4 has going for it is that it’s the latest game and that it’s the prettiest. that’s it. it feels soulless. but i am still playing it, so the joke’s on me, i guess.
made: i helped cook a lot of meals but im happiest with the double chocolate cherry brownies i made! they’re pretty good, just a little too dense. i think i might have overmixed it? or put in too much flour (i forgot to put in the flour measurement when i wrote down the recipe lol). anyway it was good!
Tumblr media
i also drew moz and ulysses (shocker!) in their twenties. i think if they had met up then, maybe while ulysses was scouting an area and moz found herself in there, then they would definitely hook up, maybe even spend a few days together, then separate happily; just have a casual little fling that neither of them would remember until a few months into their relationship when they’re older lmao. yes i thought about this a lot. it’s not even canon. or could it be....? nah. unless......?? hmm no

QUESTION OF THE DAY #13: a) What was the first musical you ever loved, and b) What was the musical that got you invested in internet theatre culture? It’s okay if they’re the same.
MY ANSWER: a) Dreamgirls followed closely by Hairspray thanks to their movie adaptations, but as far as stage productions go How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying was the first one to really inspire me, b) probably Wicked
SUMMARY OF ANSWERS: so i realized that question a inspired a wide variety of answers, the most popular being Wicked, Hamilton, Les Mis, and Sound of Music. for question b, we had a lot of similar answers, the most popular being Hamilton (around 16/37). other popular ones for question b were Heathers, Les Mis and Wicked. that said, there was a wide variety of other shows too. read them all below the cut!
Anonymous said: Qotd: For the first question either wicked or be more chill (I was 13 and in a stem school with no theater program) and maybe heathers for internet culture.
Anonymous said: i think what got me into musicals would be matilda! my family went to west end while i was then completely clueless about what musicals were so watching matilda like. opened my eyes to musicals! though the first musical i really got into would probably be Hamilton? generic, i know but it was all people were talking about then and the fandom was considerably better back then so i got into it!
Anonymous said: Les mis. I saw the National tour and I fell in love with both the show and musical theatre in general. And Hamilton was what got me into the online community. I was bored and stumbled on it and got sucked in.
zoueriemandzijnopmars said: First musical I ever loved was the studio 100 Doornroosje (Sleeping Beauty in Dutch) musical, it was proshot and I had the dvd (the soundtrack is on Spotify btw). The musical that got me started to get me into internet musical culture was Hamilton.
Anonymous said: a) the first musical i loved was mama mia, and b) the musical that got me invested in internet theatre culture was les mis.
Anonymous said: I would say Wicked for both, but I think Hamilton also contributed significantly to getting me into internet theater culture!!
Anonymous said: first musical i loved was into the woods, but (surprise surprise) hamilton got me into internet theatre culture
vordemtodgefeit said: a) wicked was my gateway musical b) also wicked but I really only engage with a fraction of the fandom so, naturally, it’s les mis
thatbookshelf said: The first musical I was seriously obsessed with was a musical of a Dutch children's book series called 'Kleine Ezel' (Little Donkey) when I was about five years old. Exactly two years ago my friend got me into Hamilton which brought me into the musical theatre fandom.
swoopingsilver said: First Musical I loved: Jekyll and Hyde First musical that got me on the Internet: Dear Even Hansen
gaysnekchild said: The first musical I ever loved was Be More Chill, the musical that got me into musicals was Heather's
Anonymous said: If we're sticking to live theatre, the first musical I loved was Hamilton. If we're counting movie musicals, it was The Sound of Music by far. Hamilton was my gateway into internet theatre culture but Starkid, ITH and Hadestown are what got me stuck here.
galactic-greens said: Probably Mary Poppins, we had this dvd player that I'd take on road trips and just watch it over and over. But what really introduced me to broadway was Hamilton
a-terrible-pun said: question of the day: the sound of music was the first musical i loved, and les mis got me into the musical internet culture.
Anonymous said: Hamilton
Anonymous said: im not ashamed to say that hamilton was the first musical that i actually got into and got me interested in musical theatre, but there are some other ones like musical movies or something that i watched as a kid that i liked too
a-walking-meme said: I don't remember if the first musical I loved was Grease or Mamma Mia bc I used to watch those with my mom but the one that got me involved was Book Of Mormon ✨
Anonymous said: a) Grease b) Hamilton
Anonymous said: Hairspray was the first musical i’ve loved and wicked got me into internet Stan culture
elicardashyanpetermaximoff said: A) Heathers B) Rent
Anonymous said: I grew up watching Jacob and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and other movie musicals. However, I wasn't really aware of musical theatre until I was fourteen, and that was because of Les Mis. Les Mis made me fall in love with musical theatre, and I really began to understand and appreciate the art form. The musical that got me invested in fandom was Anastasia. I've loved this show since 2017, and I've met some of my dearest friends because of it.
Anonymous said: 1. Wizard of Oz 2. Be More Chill
sixthstringserenade said: The first musical I ever loved was Les Miserables. And the show that got me invested in theatre culture was either Avenue Q or POTO. Let’s just say Ramin Karimloo was my gateway-drug to theatre.
Anonymous said: a) Hamilton, b) Newsies
Anonymous said: The first musical I loved was les mis (it was my high school's musical my freshman year) but the first musical that really got me into musical theater culture was next to normal, which is still one of my favorites
sheepskinjacketclan said: i guess technically the first musical i loved was singin in the rain, since it was probably one of the first films i ever saw and its a classic in my family, but the first stage musical i ever loved and the thing that got me into musical theatre was Wicked when i was like 10. It sort of got me into internet theatre culture, if you count finding friends by commenting your obnoxious pre pubescent opinions on every wicked related youtube video in 2010 as internet culture.
Anonymous said: Wicked for both!
bwaycpunk said: To answer the Q: I ADORED 1776 when I was 10, but the prom musical is literally the reason I'm on Tumblr.
Anonymous said: The Wizard of Oz and the Sound of Music have always been my favorite movies/musicals since I was a little kid, but I think Hamilton or Heathers first got me involved in the online fandom...
pinkwelshdragon said: a) The Lion King in London was my first Broadway show, I saw it when I was very young so I don't remember much. b) I'd heard about Hamilton when it first came about, though I didn't listen to it since it wasn't interesting to me at the time. My friends convinced me to listen to it in 2018 and I fell in love with theatre. It was around the same time as when I was performing in my school's production of Beauty and the Beast, so that helped too.
broadwaybabe1000 said: Ok this is embarrassing but first show I loved is Elf because it was the first 1 I performed in and my first show that got me invested in internet theatre culture is Hamilton.
queenlmno said: So this first show was probably the Sound of Music movie, but first theater show was Newsies. Internet culture was either Newsies or Matilda.
squeak-and-pip said: Hamilton It’s a really basic answer I know
impastomuse said: A) Sunset Boulevard in 1996, and B) Hamilton
nightofheart said: Does the Sound of Music movie count as first musical loved? If not, Hamilton, and Hadestown for the second question :)

HELLO IM SO GLAD YOU LOVE IT 💖🥺 ive had a blast writing it so far.
So the series came to mind LATE ONE NIGHT. I was listening to the song Ive Been Waiting For You from Mamma Mia 2, and i came up with a poe scenario in my head. I messaged my best friend about it, and we were like WAIT A MINUTE what if we made a series about it based off songs from the soundtracks??? AND HERE WE ARE
My favorite chapter that I have written so far is probably Waterloo. BUT my favorite chapter IN PROGRESS is Andante, Andante. YOULL SEE WHY 😉
I love that it holds a special place in your heart and that you continue to love it!!! Thank you so much for asking 🥰🥰
