s/o to @powerful-owl for starting this meme and @disarmd for the insanely funny contribution, it’s such a delightful thought exercise! here’s my attempt:

MASCOTS!

american sports have hella mascots, so every team is tasked to create a marketable mascot that could represent them for u.s fans. they also have to build a little model to pitch the concept. there’s the williams whale sharks. the aston martin martinis. lando and oscar devise a walking papaya named penny who looks so much like a vulva oscar backs out almost instantly.

GUESS THE GRID based on clothing choices: drivers assemble an outfit they’d wear and then everyone else tries to guess who picked what. the catch is that the f1a girls did the same challenge and their answers are mixed in as well. everybody thinks doriane’s mercedes-themed picks are george’s and maya gets confused for charles even though there’s no ferrari branding to be seen. chloe’s picked a haas cap with a black skirt and we watch nico hulkenberg go through every emotion known to man trying to figure out why kevin would—???

(meanwhile the academy grid is absolutely ripping everybody’s style choices to shreds, accusing hamda of being the most basic bitch on the planet bc max chose to wear basketball shorts, etc)

PADDOCK SCAVENGER HUNT

5 teams are in on it and the other 5 can’t know what’s going on, otherwise they lose points. charles pretends that he’s too tired to walk when pierre catches him searching the top of a cabinet on carlos’ shoulders. oscar distracts williams while lando tries to get a picture of logan with red, white and blue objects in the background. yuki gets stranded on top of the rbr motorhome because daniel won’t stop using him for reconnaissance and the whole thing gets called off because max sees them squabbling on the roof and thinks the rapture has arrived.

GEORGE AND ALEX MAKE GRAPHICS

ib george’s natural talent for graphic design. the audience gets to see what a communications team actually does in motorsport (educational!) and george and alex get free reign of the entire library of press photos of eachother. george is hunting for a terrible picture of alex to edit onto a podium but ends up having a very verbal crisis about how none of the pap shots are appropriately bad and then spends the next half an hour digging himself into theeee deepest hole talking about how it’s just not as FUNNY if alex looks TOO GOOD on the podium! it would be UNFAIR! alex is squirming and trying to remember where tf he was planning on going with this zoomed-in great-gatsby-esque picture of george’s eyelids on his screen right now. george silently edits alex’s teeth out of his mouth and tries to erase the fact that he just called alex handsome like 47 times.

MARIO KART SIM RACING

im talking full immersion. sherbet land is ice fucking cold. every time they drive over some kind of giant clock or railroad or something the sim porpoises like a jackhammer. someone is standing behind them with a full tank of water for the splash sections. there’s a legitimate epilepsy warning at the start of the video. bowser puts the fear of god into lando norris.

MAX AND DANIEL DO TEMPORARY TATTOOS

i’m hesitant to allow them access to a bowl of water but i have an extremely clear vision of daniel slapping tats all over the blank spaces on his skin to the point where they overlap and he’s just got shiny plasticky tattoo skin everywhere. max would find this unappealing and also stupid until he realizes all the fake tattoos on his side of the table are replicas of daniel’s actual ones. cut to: daniel with a snake tattoo stuck in his eyebrow hairs hiking his shorts up so max can mirror the placement on his own inner thigh. daniel resembling a concussed post malone, watching max’s careful application of the ‘3’ tattoo. max does a horrible aussie accent and daniel looks like a chimpanzee seeing its own reflection for the first time. cinema.

A barber shop and a tea shop, the tea shop leads to the larger apartment thats 3 floors.

Apartment one: The entrance to the house is behind the tea shop counter, this one has two adult bedrooms and one child bedroom. The sims who live here are Juliana Plata, an ambitious girlboss, her husband Sergio Plata who tends to the tea shop, their son Adrian Plata. Sergio's teen brother needed a place to stay in Ciudad Enamorada after their parent's passing, so he stays with them.

long answer: i have a lot of things i want to do all of which ive been putting off to some degree but i can try to tell you about all of them rn lol! most immediately is getting the charm orders shipped out, which has had just about everything that could possibly go wrong go wrong with it but like we ball i guess. and simultaneously the @showroomcertifiedzine that im trying my DAMNDEST to get to ppl before the year ends but also i will never let myself go "how hard could it be" ever again lmao.

after that i wanna try to pick up some writing stuff again, i have a couple of scripts that i actually Want to work on this time but havent had the time, and i wanna go back to potb REAL bad but im on the fence about if i should continue where i left off or start rewriting it because oh my god i want to rewrite so much of this fic now. during the accidental hiatus i reevaluated how i see a lot of the characters and now i feel like ive written a fic ooc enough yet widely-read enough that it'll become That One Fic that so many fandoms have and i would simply never be able to live with myself /j i cant decide if i wanna try to course correct and have a potentially messy ending or restart entirely and deprive everyone of beachdook confession and/or first kiss scene for another 3 years lmfao. vote now on your phones i guess

Stabby stab, waiting to be slaughtered by my own mind I was on cementary + lil meeting with my family on All Saints day :> It was really cool, Im super happy cause one of my goals is having better relationships with my family cause they are great people and I always enjoyed spending time with them <3 At some point I got quite badly overstimulated but I was able to stand it quite good ;p I gonna play The Sims 4 quite a lot in next days as Im going to record some videos for my Polish channel ;D I have a lot of ideas but I also want get to know TS4 better as its one I played the least ;p It will be also first time when I will have legacy gameplay >XD cause before I tried it few times but I always quit after having children hahaha >XDDDD I will be honest, I was always finding family gameplay super boring cause my fav way to play was single sim doing all the stuff possible at their own. Had a dream that involved a lot of anime but was mostly eminence in shadow.

the entire dream was set in a big sims 4 house kind of building but it was mostly unnervingly long hallways with many black haired anime protagonists.

claire is trying to find cid. thats the entire plot of the dream.

heres some highlights i remember. knowing dreams, i may remember more somehow eventually

kirito from sword art online gets dragged a short distance by claire before she realizes he is not cid. he looks the most like cid out off everyone there but its weird kirito was the only one claire tried dragging away considering how claire doesnt seem to be good at recognizing him.

protagonist from anime called "no longer allowed in another world" jumps out the window and dies. claire freaks out for a bit but not sure if she mistook him for cid. he dont look like cid, but claire doesnt seem to be good at recognizing cid.

at the end when claire finally found him she was about to yell at him or something but before she could, he calmly showed her a video of a prank some guys pulled by putting futuristic holograms above a car. the holograms were of people and they told someone in another car they are under arrest. i think they gave the reason for arrest and it was some time travel related crime. both cars in on the prank. it was only a prank to other drivers.

i feel like i had claires nightmare. lol

i like how the ending after all that was cid showing claire what i guess is some viral video that only exists in the dream world.

this dream is also the first time im seeing most of these people in dreams.

i also like how this is not even my first cid dream that was 100% just ridiculous. i think this the first time seeing someone else from the eminence in shadow in dreams thats not shadow or someone from shadowgarden.

 DLCs are inherently shit always, literally everytime, there has never been a good DLC released for a game. i play games the way i watch movies, you might think i play a lot of games or a play them frequently but this is just not true, when i do actually decide to try a game, or watch a movie, its only after word of mouth has reached me that this is amazing and even then its only some of the time, im picky, ill admit, but what ends up happening is when i DO watch a movie or play a game and it hits with me, i talk about it passionately. as a result of this, ive been “lucky” enough to only have been exposed to some of the best most widely regarded DLCs in gaming history and i have without fail hated every single one. the first DLCs i ever got my hands on were the bloodmoon expansion and tribunal that came with the morrowind GOTY edition, i gush endlessly about morriwind its one of the greatest of all time, it might actually just be the best game ever made its close, and i remember when i got the GOTY edition with two entirely brand new landmasses to explore i was thrilled, for about five minutes and then i just went back to the mainland, ive played the entirety of both DLCs and beyond the functionality that was added in the form of enemy HP bars, and a difficulty slider i completed the DLCs just to say i did and i was bored the whole time, both mournhold and aww fuck what is it? solstheim thats it, both of these brand new landmasses felt ERIE to explore, they were supposedly connected to the main game which i loved, but they felt like their own pocket dimension because they fucking are lol, but its beyond that, it feels like fan fiction it feels like starwars extended universe bullshit, they felt like mods. my next encounter with DLC’s were in fallout new vegas, and this is another contender for best game of all time, and i ran into the exact same issues, whenever i wasnt exploring the main map of newvegas and was instead exploring one of the sectioned off DLC areas i only wanted to return, whatever made you initially fall in love with the game, the characters, the setting, the atmosphere, hell even the gameplay style would be tossed out the window for something that was meant to feel brand new, but what you get instead is four disjointed sort of minigames that arent big enough or fleshed out to be proper sequels but also had basically no bearing on the world you spent most of your time playing in. of the four dlcs, honest hearts is the only one i can stomach and its the one with the lowest reputation because guys who like DLC have very very bad taste in general, the fact that either dead money or the divide are rated above honest hearts is a travesty, old world blues i can sort of get even though its reddit tier cringe and feels more like a mod than all the others combined. even in games like rimworld where DLC should work, hey more items and shit whats not to love, they always fuck it up buy making the bulk of the new content thematically different from the main game i guess to make it feel special but often times it ruins the game. with the DLC content rimworld might already be in the modern terraria “ive got too much shit on me zone” where so much crap got added that was thematically inconsistent with the initial setting and premise of the game that it feels muddied and washed out. i literally racked my brain trying to think of one good dlc and couldnt find one, i settled on rimworld but i realized that the dlcs were so incongruous with the initial concept of the game as a space western colony sim that the moment they came out is the moment i had a serious drop in my interest for its development. none of this is important or consequential but i just needed to say it somewhere.

Writing Class Thoughts

Really had to listen to poems about sports. This class is too long. I want food. I've been so mindlessly hungry lately. I think I'm just bored. I need to channel this energy into getting job interviews. The scheduling has me fucked up though. I'm going home in less than a week. But just to visit. I do have my class schedule planned out for next semester so I guess I could apply for that scedule and wait for a job next semester. I think that would do. I gotta ask my parents about it. I'm out of money now. I only have a month and a half left for this semester but I have no income and my bank acounts are pretty much dry. I need to find another way to make it through this next month and a half before going home for the holidays and working for 3 weeks. So much on my mind. I'm having issues being present recently. It's just not fun right now. I'm glad I got everything out of the way and don't have much work left here. But damn, I just eating my boredom away and just playing sims. I am acting like I'm on break but i'm not. I need to get back to reality.

So there’s this film... The Critic is the title. It’s based on a book by Anthony Quinn. Here’s like the three articles I found on it at Deadline, Collider and this lil piece by Heather who is clearly into Benny! All of them articles are putting Benny aside and as supporting character but like lookin at other actors involved Imma not surprised he’s pushed more to the back. So I checked IMDb and what the book is about, and what it says is that Benny’s character is named Stephen, and the book has a character named Stephen Wyley. From the couple of reviews I seen it’s hard to say how big his part in the book actually is but yeee I’d say not extremely big. And there are going to be changes to the material anyways cuz Mark Strong’s character, from what I can tell, is not in the book? Or at least he is not mentioned in any of the pieces I looked through. 

ANYWAYS! So Stephen is a painter, he is also a married man with kids! And he has an affair with Nina (Arterton’s character). He is also beardless. A crime as the film is a thriller or crime something something. Checks out! ALSO would say that life imitates art but that’s..................... Boy was doing some method acting I guess x.x

So to celebrate (lol) Benny took his lil ass to Wimbledon, cuz as we all know Benny has four character traits (one more than a TS4 sim!) and these are Queen, When Harry Met Sally, his shitty degree and... I'm also starting to think that patient 46 is more of a young teenager (13-15ish?) than a small child. It would still explain the childish language used by the therapist, the lies about their past, and a few things about their connection pizzaplex maybe. I'm still not 100% sure whether 46 is truly Vanny/if Vanny is a relative of Vanessa, but I feel the scales are starting to tip a bit more. I still don't think 46 is Vanessa and Vanny is Vanessa tho. It just seems so easy and full of holes. But then again so are my theories so idk only time will tell I guess.

also wtf is up with the SL room set up in the walls? I'm not even talking about the code either. Like, who knew what the inside of Mike's house looked like and why recreate the TV room in the fucking walls? Maybe it was just an easter egg type thing but it feels a bit specific. Also, building off my previous conjecture of the new characters filling in the open roles left in Pizza Sim, Freddy may represent Henry. So far all I got is they both set fire to a building. I think Freddy's protectiveness could parallel Henry's drive as well. idek if I'm reaching at this point. A solid link will probably come to me in the middle of the night in a cold sweat anyway.

I'm also sticking firmly to my theory that Glitchtrap is just an AI that learned to be human in the worst possible way and Burntrap was an attempt to get him a physical form like William once had. The blob also may or may not have something to do with failed attempts that may or may not exist idk im spitballing here.

I think it'll be wise to wait for some updates that add back cut features or at least some DLC before making concrete assumptions about anything. I just hope im right about at least one thing.

Finally persuaded myself to watch the rest of DanTDM's MCSM letsplay videos (idk i initially stopped cuz i didnt have the time and im really bad at finishing any media so then it just became a scarecrow in my mind and basically i had to convincce myself to start watching again for like 3 months??? wild) and I am not through all of them yet, I've finished watching Season 2 Episode 2, BUT what I want to say is that I can immediately see

A) why people like Romeo

B) how people can very easily get the wrong idea about this character (assuming it is a wrong idea but like again I'm on Episode 2 so idk). Like what he has going on IS a little dangerously close to the idea that only a certain kind of people should reproduce and survive. Like this might be getting a little close to "baby's first exposure to eugenics." But honestly since he's called Admin and said to eb basically god, I am guessing (and again only guessing) that he will be revealed to be some sort of 4th wall breaking figure and probably not even from the in-game universe, in which case...I mean is it eugenics if I start Sims 3 and systematically weed out the weak and make all of them fight using mods and go all "Yes, yes, the weak shall die and the strong shall produce even stronger offspring!"? I mean I don't do that but like I could. And I don't think it'd say anything because the Sims aren't real. So what I'm saying is that if he actually does turn out to be a sort of out-of-universe figure, then all this discourse feels really pointless. I mean it's always pointless but in this case specifically it wouldn't even hold any water.

Ah, you're finishing my boy's season! Yes, Romeo is people's fave MCSM villain for a lot of reasons. I don't wanna spoil the finer details making up his story, seeing as I've already said too much about him in previous posts.

Regarding Romeo's survival of the fittest mentality, think I recall saying that it's easy for me to imagine him as an ableist. Not only because of how he treats the people he deems "weak losers," but also, due to the fact he allowed his challenges to kill said losers; therefore, "the rubbish got dumped."

All that said, the source material did not address ableism or anything like that, but I can see why someone would consider Romeo an ableist – headcanon-wise.

sadness over a3! eng i guess

oof just on my 700th day.....

kinda sad because of the announcement about A3! ENG server shutting down soon due to financial difficulties at LIBER/CYBIRD in the past two years (covid-19 related, etc.). according to a rather in depth reddit comment that had links to LIBER's publicly available financial reports + some financial reports from LIBER's parent company, Aeria, in english, covid-19 really hit LIBER hard since they had to cancel many money making events, from pop-up shops for the typical anime merch trinkets (keychains, plushes, pins, etc.) to the huge in-person events (voice actor meetups, the stage plays of MANKAI LIVE, etc.). due to shrinking player base on the ENG server + major loss of profits on both JPN and ENG servers, LIBER had to choose one or the other and they chose the JPN one, which i totally understand since it's way bigger there and the JPN fanbase will continue to give the franchise money more often. also, another person found a financial report/estimate from the google play store or something, and A3! ENG only made ~$20K to ~$10K in the past few months, which i guess is not enough to keep a server and localization company afloat. 

i got pretty attached to the characters and it was a great game to help get by during college. and honestly, while i am very sad about this, again, i understand why LIBER did this, looking at their financial report from 2020. I would LIBER save the entire franchise rather than shut all the servers down, making us all unable to see our favorite actors ever again, even if it means that we ENG fans will have to go thru the extra steps of finding/reading fan translations, wikis, etc., to read any further stories from where A3! ENG left off. still, A3! ENG's localization was something special. i'm saying this as a TKRB JPN player who read the wiki for all the character voice lines and then had to see the official TKRB ENG localization make Yamabushi Kunihiro a rapper for some reason? lol. it was....weird.... meanwhile, all the memes and slang in A3! ENG didn't seem out of place and all fit their personalities because 3/4 of the troupes were all high school to college age and 3 of them were ~Gamers~. Out of all the gachas i've played, i feel like the only other F2P gacha game that had this incredibly smooth, all cultural jokes/puns translated in a way that still makes sense/fits the character/doesn't require a galaxy brain and some TL note to understand, is probably dragalia lost and that's only because it has frickin Nintendo localizing/publishing it globally for CyGames. Nintendo. i'll eventually read the fan translations of A3!'s Act 3 on the wiki, but it won't be the same without Kazunari's super high-energy influencer slang of "'whoa fam! that's totes 'blammable, gotta take a pic!" or Itaru's gremlin Gamer speak of "lol get rekt noobs" or Tsuzuru's tired dying breath of "that ain't it chief." the appropriate slang and relatable meme speak of the localization really helped humanize these characters as people of their respective ages, rather than just a typical formal speak or some directly translated JPN slang -> ENG that turns out super awkward that can be found in bad localizations.

going back to the reddit comment too, the death of A3! ENG servers could have bad repercussions in the future for other joseimuke games. josei, if you for some reason have been in the anime fandom but still don't know this term, is basically the genre of stories/video games/media/etc aimed at women. it's the mature adult counterpart to seinen, media aimed at adult men. basically shoujo/shonen = elementary/middle school/high school aimed while josei/seinen = high school/college/adult aimed if that helps. Joseimuke is a part of josei that is not specifically romance. while some josei/joseimuke can overlap with otome, aka female aimed dating sims/romance media, they have many things about them that make these all separate genres. one of the official A3! ENG translators and a known fan translator of another joseimuke gacha, Mahou Yaku/Wizard’s Promise, minami, goes more in depth with this in a twitter thread. 

A3! was an actor raising game, and a big part of it was found family and relationships that were platonic. yet it got advertised as an otome, which has more connotations with dating sims and brings to mind other shoujo/otome games and anime where the cast is all high schoolers and the setting is most often in a high school. but, other than some characters making flirty jokes or implied to have crushes on Izumi/player character, many character relationships with Izumi are platonic and not romantic at all. Spring Troupe in the game also jokingly calls themself a family. the entire Mankai Company is basically found family. plus, since the game actually has time passing in story and the characters age with each year, half of the characters aren’t even in high school anymore. a large majority of them are in college or are graduated by now, with only a few still in high school. i’m not surprised if a reason that some people left the game was due to feeling bored with the slice of life/not romantic story, feeling that they were lied to about it being an otome, which was falsely advertised since it is a game meant for the older teens/adults demographic of josei/joseimuke.

i’m worried that other japanese companies will look at this shut down as a “josei/joseimuke doesn’t work well in the west” and never localize other josei/joseimuke gacha games like Mahou Yaku, EnStars, Twisted Wonderland, Helios, etc.

while i like otome and shoujo, i, as a 23/soon to be 24 year old college graduate and now tax paying adult, want more stories that have more mature themes and characters that are more my age so i don’t have to feel awkward when i’m playing some dating sim and i, a literal 23 year old adult, and trying to woo a 16 year old. it’s...a little awkward to say the least. i would gladly welcome more mature media that is categorized as josei/joseimuke.

sorry if this is all over the place, but overall im just sad that A3! ENG is shutting down. i don’t know if i’ll join the JPN server yet. i’m def going to read the Act 3 story via fan translators on the wiki, but A3! gameplay was...boring lmao. as much as i love A3!, im sure that the constant event grind/burnout and boring rng gameplay turned people off too and i dont blame them. i felt the burnout bad since i participated in basically every event since day 1. it. is. rough. i’m not joining the hellish thunderdome that is the JPN server and im not ranking anymore as a F2P player lmao. literally had to play almost every waking free moment to get into the 30%-20% bracket as a F2P person and i never got to top 20%-10%, much less top 1% lmao. i’m don’t whale enough lol. 

i feel like i should probably just. crack open my genki 2 textbook and uhhh totally legal pdf copy of tobira. so i can just. get the JPN version of games in the first place so i don’t have to worry about getting shafted since overseas fans are often considered expendable. 

i wish that, when any games that are online end, gacha or mmo or anything, anything online, companies will let fans archive things. or like. release a book that is just the story text or something. like. CYBIRD is letting us still technically play the game and have the story and all, but what if they eventually later shut everything down? why not just release a pdf/ebook that’s just the text of the eng localization for some money? i’d buy it. for nostalgia and rereads and all and also archiving purposes. i think i’ll try to help with any english localization archive projects if i can so that the hilarious and incredible localization that was a work of love from the translation team doesn’t just disappear forever.
