Ok so a while back I had a conversation with my friend's aunt. She's a trans woman well into her 50, who has kids and grandkids, and she came out when she was in her 40's. Me and my friends were talking about our queer space, and mentioned the well known "token cishet man"

Now, I'm sure most of us have that guy in our friend group, and it was common for us to just call him the straight guy. But my friend's aunt offered a different perspective ; she once was that token cishet man in a queer group of friends. Getting categorized so strongly as "the cis straight guy" made it harder for her to come out and accept herself. Since that talk with her, I've been careful about it, and guess what? Two women I've once called "the straightest person I know" (different occasions, and it was high school) now have girlfriends! You literally cannot know if someone is queer, and honestly most people are not the straight cisest person out there.

Anyways I'm not very articulate and English is not my friend but like I think everyone would benefit from being a little more careful about the way we treat our "token straight guy", she might be thankful later!

yes, I'll go insane pondering the intricate mechanics of a super machine slowly decaying and rotting to time, so pristine as first, celebrated and loved, but over time rotting to dusty abandon altogether. belonging in a scrap yard of what once was.

nothing you see on the outside but ravaged internally, the things you can only see if you look close enough to care.

the slow decay of their processes, the slow failure to fulfill its potential, and eventually its own needs, overwhelmed by the inescapable programming to keep itself going above all and nothing else matters until the eventual deadly crash. the light mishaps at first, ever so slight glitches becoming a microcosm of pure failure. on the outside, it's just a machine, but inside, you can almost hear it scream.

oh, and how it tried and tried. screaming as it holds itself together with nothing.

until it's last fake synthetic "breath" how it tried to keep its code alive. it had nothing to live for, but it still tried. it never lived at all, but it still kept going.

for all it could once do, for all it could've possibly still done, but now what is impossible to pursue.

and pour one out for the machines not quite at their end but nearing it, wondering where it all went and where it will all go. what once was that is no longer remembered and what will never be remembered ever again. all that is to be and to no longer hope for a future, perhaps to even beg for a final ending that looms over every increasingly frequent surge of a crash.

yes, I'll go insane as I think about them wishing someone would tell them one last time that they've done enough and enough is good. to press the power button and pull the cord one last time, and to let it die.
