see this is exactly the thing though, am i objectively rude or do people just assume intent based on their very specific backgrounds and personal culture? because yeah norwegians especially have a reputation for being cold and "rude", but we find the american Enthusiastic Niceness to be a lot more offputting

i am SO polite in shops and things like that though lmao, i got too used to living in england so i'm all please and thank you to a fault even in norway and they look at me weirdly every time
