as a camp counselor (technically not currently bc i went home for Illness) and homestuck fan (also technically not currently bc I'm too busy being a camp counselor) i love camp skaia. which homestuck characters are most likely to be the "we're ALL sick there's no reason you can't do the hike up the hill" (has mild cold and vague heatsickness at worst) counselor x "actual lung infection but thinks it's a really normal cold" (very easily gaslit) counselor program group pair? i feel like eridan and kanaya are hot contenders here

BOY DO I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ON THIS, THIS WAS EXTREMELY FUN :D

so let’s begin: my immediate instinct was kanaya and tavros are the most easily gaslit, or adhere most to given direction (we’re not going to talk about HIM). but then who to pair them with? they are both wet cats that won’t work. we decided that YES kanaya and eridan definitely make sense! but in which role? it may seem obvious but NO! eridan too sick? whiny fussy pitiful sopping kitty he’s just a beanbag full of milk! so we decided barely sick eridan, otherwise he’d be throwing a fit. instead he’s referring to his Superior Genes! and kanaya is. strugglin. but fuck man here we are 🤷‍♂️

But we’re not done yet!

the next we considered was karkat and terezi!! especially aided through the lens of karkat’s old crush on terezi; he’s too whipped and in denial to deny a girl a hand!

this led to possibly the funniest thing ever: THE INNER KANKRI THAT EVERYONE HAS AND HE SITS ON YOUR SHOULDER AND REMINDS YOU TO BE DECENT AND LEAVE ROOM FOR KANKRI

for the bigger drawings i capped it off with a good ol favorite of mine; erifef. why did i like them? man idek anymore but it worked really well with the idea of eridan being the sicker one, but being ok such thin ice over his constant whining that he just has to go along with it we just though it was funny hehe. it can be viewed through any lens! snippy or non, s’all good here! it’s all canon.

I'm doing alright! I've been very busy this semester, and we are approaching finals so it's probably only going to get busier soon. But! This has been my first semester mostly in person in a very long time! And I'm officially fully in uni rather than dual credit, so I'm somewhere else now and have met SO many people. Actually am planning to meet up with one of them tomorrow to go to a restaurant/museum for class! And to watch a few movies with two others sometime soon.

Also!! If you read my fics I'll love you forever and ever and ever even more. This new titz one has been sitting for several months, but I finally pulled it back out! And I am rather nervous about it because Fitz and Tam are both particular characters, and so combining them just makes them even harder to write. and THEN! throwing in Fitz's Alvar feelings makes that EVEN MORE difficult. but! it was also an absolute delight to work on so I hope you like it :)

and holy shit wings au art!!! i trust you so much I am so excited to see it--and don't worry about however long it takes! wings au is years in the writing, i've got experience with patience. wait btw, I don't know if you're aware, but I'm attempting to post the epilogue soon! I have the rough draft and the anniversary is coming up, so I'm hoping to have it edited to post on the ending's anniversary. it's a little over a week away, but also finals are descending AND its nano, so we'll see what happens. it WILL be out by the end of the year for certain though (and during october I went through and re-edited the whole thing for grammar and details--it's ridiculous how many its it's mistakes there were because i KNEW the difference. i'd just autopilot do one or the other and not catch it in my quick edits)

but! he'll still do his best for you, and he actually does pretty well ! during the hot summer season, he'll keep you cool thanks to his ice powers, and during winter, he'll build snowmen with you.

okay this has been in my asks forever and i have like a full length fic for this au panned out but heres the basics:

in the 90s Steve and Billy as grown ups decided to say fuck it and have a wedding, wether or not it was legally binding. they'd lived together for ages anyway.

in 2002, they decided to adopt- all in Steve's name but they couldn't get around that and Harrington is Billy's last name now too, anyway

they adopted two kids, 8 and 10, that were biological siblings so they wouldn't have to be separated by the foster care system.

shortly after adopting them, now seasoned queers Steve and Billy realize their youngest is trans

so they've got older sister Mallory and younger brother Alastair (and yes i did this so they could be Mal and Al)

its a bit of a family secret, but Steve and Billy are obviously super supportive and billy, who has a lot of experience with doctors by this point, helps Al with things like dealing with less that helpful medical staff and as soon as he's old enough, T shots bc Al is afraid of needles (Billy's a good dad :,))

Your hold on Tendou’s hand tightened, “You’re right, maybe we should!!”

This happens every time, almost like a routine — your classmates ganging up against the tall redhead, excluding him from after-school activities and leaving him by himself to wallow at every harsh word they throw at him.

But that was before you.

He didn’t have to spend every afternoon walking home alone anymore. No more lunch breaks spent by himself on the school courtyard. No more weekends spent spiking volleyballs against a wall.

Because he had you.

His hand clutched yours tighter as you pulled him away, “Come on Satori-kun.”

“W-where are we going?”

Your head whipped to look at him, determination in your furrowed eyebrows, “We’re getting married!”

The two of you briskly walked away, leaving your classmates dumbfounded and able to do nothing but follow you with their eyes.

A breath you didn’t know you were holding slipped past your lips as you closed the door behind you.

Tendou had an apologetic look in his face but smiled at you nonetheless, “You didn’t have to do that, Y/N-chan”

But you just puffed your cheeks in annoyance before proceeding to your room, rummaging through your drawers to find the things you needed.

The tall boy still standing in your doorway couldn’t quite wrap his mind around why someone would go this far for him, you’re only putting yourself in the line of fire by doing this. He didn’t want you to be shunned like him, you were too nice, way too kind. And as much as he adores the way your face scrunched as you bite back at the other kids, he didn’t want you to be their target.

It was fine if it was just him.

But he felt your small hands wrap around his wrist, pulling him into your room and back to reality.

You had a white tulle curtain draped over your head; a veil, he figured. You really were bent on getting married.

“Y/N-chan,”

“Hold out your hand.”

The determined look in your eyes never left as held out his hand for you, watching as you pulled a piece of red craft yarn between your fingers.

“Why?”, his tiny voice broke as he said that one word, not quite understanding how the way you wrapped the red string around his ring finger made him feel so safe, wanted.

“I don’t want you to ever be alone, Satori-kun. If we get married, we’ll be together forever!!”, he couldn’t help but smile meekly at your beaming face, “Now put this on my ring finger.”

He held the piece of red string, thinking that he didn’t deserve any of this.

“Would you even want to really get married to me, though?”

Looking up at his rueful expression as he wrapped the yarn around your finger, you hummed a firm, “Yeah”

“I’ll marry you over and over again until you believe me, Satori-kun!”

You grinned at him, wide and cheerful, easing his worries.

“Now kiss the bride!”

Tendou laughed softly at the way you shut your eyes tight and puckered your lips. He held your face and it fit perfectly snug inside his hands, pulling you close and pressing a kiss on your forehead, he whispered, “Thank you.”

You had a soft scowl on your face as you opened your eyes

“You were supposed to kiss the bride on the lips! On the lips!! To seal the deal!!!”

To your annoyance, he just smiled playfully and squished your cheeks that were still in his hands

“I’ll save that for the real thing, Y/N-chan~”, he said in a singsong voice before placing a small kiss on the tip of your scrunched up nose.
