I wanna run against the world that's turnin'
I'd move so fast that I'd outpace the dawn
I wanna be gone
I wanna run so far, I'd beat the mornin'
Before the dawn has come, I'd block the sun
If you want it done
I really liked your post about Hozier's songs, and yeah it's not the be it and end all and the observer has a right to decide how the art speaks to them but to do that people need to acknowledge that nowadays most don't interact with art because of how social media's trained us to just get the next dopamine hit. I also think there's a wider 'issue' (and I'm not saying it's THAT big of one) where fandoms have some really active fans who are determined to bend songs and other forms of art to fit their ships and sort of blindly doing that without engagement of context and subject matter and it just feels overall part of a wider problem
yeah i feel like it’s part of the swiftification of everything yk? like they can’t comprehend songs with bigger meanings than “ily :)” or “we broke up :(“ like engage with music how you want guys i can’t make anybody do anything but if you’re gonna listen to hozier remember what listening to real art is and not sanitized pop with no real meaning. sorry :/
The fact that Hozier's "All Things End" has faint birdsong in it is so so mean to me, forgetful bird enjoyer, who hears it and every time thinks oh! A bird nearby for me to Look At!
