Thanks again to @scenicviewacademy for letting me camp out in the Art Room all evening to work on this. I think this was another 1.5 hours? I did my best to try and refine the background a little more. I sketched in the piano and the whatever-it-is clock/decoration thing on the wall, and tried to get the gradient right for where the wall itself is a little more visible. Tried to push the window, rug-thing, and the sunlight on the floor a little further, too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s interesting—this is my first time doing oil paints on hardboard, and it dries to such a SMOOTH finish. It was really easy to wipe off spots where didn’t get the silhouette right, or where I went a little out of bounds, or something like that. I was using left-over colors from last time, so the color matching was a little weird, but I use a medium that helps decrease the open time, so I think I can get away with glazing to nudge the colors a bit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Next time, I’m going to sit down and premix some colors to see if I can get the background exactly how I want it. Or, one step closer, at least. I think I want to let things dry between getting the window and the sunspot locked in and working on the little dainty chair/table/urn setup that’s going on in the background. Probably my experience with digital painting a layers rearing up.
