- she's strong and real enough to throw you around like a sack of potatoes. Yes even if you're a norn

- if you want anything specific simply say it and she'll do it in one way or another

Cons:

- getting her to smash is very very hard, she does not want to be around anyone but it's a good stress relief sometimes to engage in

- she might kill you just for flirting with her. She will kill you by the end of the night

- you'll get leyline magic poisoning if you're around her for too long

Oh boy do I! Both victims and perpetrators of scientific exploration✨️

YAPPOK: Part of a larger project the Inquest orchestrated to try and lab-grow asura hybrids that would have exaggerated features and traits to aid in missions not well suited for a standard asura. Yappok was spliced with a water opossum, having 6 fingers and toes on each limb along with a vestigial tail and light fur coverage. Yappok is immensely skilled at climbing with an acute sense of hearing, managed to escape during an incident with another test subject!

ILLIADDE: She was the pride and joy of the Nightmare court, carefully cultivated and experimented on utilizing an alliance with the Inquest. Being as resiliant as she is, they tried to make her the ultimate soldier, bass-boosting her magical abilities with concentrated leyline magic. What didn't kill her certainly made her stronger in a very painful way. Her body now self-produces ley energy, keeping her in top form and burning through her.

ENVERT: Real mad scientist energy here, Envert has a love of figuring out how things tick and how to alter them. She creates horrid abominations for whatever purposes you may need, and in her spare time just fucks around with creatures for the fun and scientific exploration of it all. She's even experimented on herself quite a bit, having fun with how bloodstone might interact with a sylvari and keeping herself from going too crazy from it by offloading the brunt of the effects to a soulbound murellow she keeps close.

FANTEI: An engineer background with a particular love for biology creates a very gruesome mix in Fantei. Her gizmos all contain pieces of what was once her dear lover. Her own body has been spliced with what remains weren't useful in said gizmos.

Ascalonianpicnic and I had a very "awww" moment after reading your tags about Illiadde, I always get a bit defensive when people ask about her since she's genuinely unpleasant and Doesn't Play Nice and that can upset people if they offer a friend to her and I say she would kill them, but AP was happy to see someone support her anyways like they do 💜

That’s her character. She doesn’t have to be nice to be a good character. I love and suport her in the way she choose :3  U wanna bea mean Illiadde then be mean! U great!!! I love to see diverse characters and villainous characters and she is a wonderful one.

CARA FEALLTACH

A steadfast and truly cruel sylvari, Cara found her home happily within the Court as a Monarch known for ruling their faction with the threat of torture and pain for those who couldn't live up to their expectations. They revel in the pain they can cause others, are wonderful at manipulation when needed, and are truly the worst possible choice for Commander. But Trahearne had been so disconnected from the goings on of both the Grove and the Court from his time in Orr. And Cara was so skilled and kind in the disaster that was Claw Island. Much time has passed now, she's shown her cruelty, but she possesses far too much power now to stop her. And with the dragons gone, truly what could oppose such a force?

KVOLD

Kvold is a rarity in that he was born in nightmare, alongside one other surviving pod after the Court raided the Grove to take as many pods as they could. The goal was to create Nightmare-born sylvari which was only successful partially in the few pods that survived the removal from the Pale Tree. He watched his Dream crumble and fade as it became hostile, having to fight to survive to emergence from his pod. This left him small and malnourished, relying heavily on his magic to defend and fight due to how frail his body had become. He spent years in the court under the manipulation of his duchess who ensured that he felt no one else would love or care for him as family. He's committed atrocities in her name, leaving soundless camps razed to the dirt with his fire. However, this was halted by the intervention of a sylvari named Lace (your lovely sylvari ;3c) who indirectly had him removed from the court by force before settling in as a new parental figure for the distraught and lost courtier. It's taken time, but he's slowly been able to learn that he can be kind and gentle and still find acceptance and worth in the world.

ILLIADDE

Born alongside Kvold from stolen pods, she fought her way through survival much more ferociously. As such, her growth increased to accommodate her needs to be strong against hoards of Nightmare. She emerged from her pod with thick tough overgrown skin, tearing her way out as if the pod could hardly contain her size any more. This newfound resilience was used by the Court to try and make the ultimate weapon, using connections to the Inquest to augment her body further in an attempt to make her truly invincible so that she could one way fell the Pale Tree for good. This worked well, for a time. But the weapon the Court created backfired when she was commanded to go deep into the jungle and retrieve Courtiers who had been lost there. Her loyalties did not outweigh her fear of the voice pounding in her head as she neared the jungle, so instead she ran and abandoned her siblings to the dragon. She spends her days mostly alone, occasionally acting as a mercenary but primarily just killing anyone who so much glances at her. She's nothing more than a broken, volatile husk that wants to feel nothing and see no one.

FHARIEM

An ex-courtier only by technicality of not belonging to any Court now, Fhariem still fully embraces Nightmare as the other side of the coin to the Dream. She simply thinks the more erratic and vicious factions that came in when Faolain took over are incorrect and take the wrong things from Nightmare. She spends her days deep within the Priory, cataloging what she knows of Nightmare alongside her Dreamer girlfriend.

ADMHAIL

A true Valiant of the Dream as few others could be, Admhail was born with a particularly strong direct connection to the Dream and was destined to use that connection to help others interpret their destinies and wyld hunts. However, so many Hunts are painfully difficult or border on impossible, and seeing and interpreting so many that he knew would end in failure or death wore on him harshly. Desperate to escape the visions, he blinded himself to grant his peace. But the roots of the dream were buried far too deep in his mind, and the visions would not cease even without visual context. They became even more overwhelming until he fled the Grove. As such an asset, the Court was fast to seek him out how that he wasn't closely guarded. And offered him something that no others could. His connection to the Dream was finally severed and Admhail found peace at last in the cold comfort of Nightmare.

CANARY LARKSPUR

She was a thirdborn who had been tricked and forced into the Court so soon after emerging from her pod, afraid and hurt. It took Yeats of honing her mesmer skills before she could successfully escape, slipping out of her Court and running until she ran into the aetherblades. She hopped on their airship and never looked back, finding a home among other runaways from organizations they fell into. And one day, she would find her footing leading what was left of the group after their disastrous events in Cantha.

CILLIAN FAEL

The Duchess of Light held a prestigious position within the Court, holding domain over an infamous faction that was a gem in Faolain's collection. When Faolain fell in the jungle, she was one of the first to grasp at the empty throne as the power vacuum set in. However, unlike others, she sought a path that would access a ruthless advisor. She sought Faolain in the mists, channeling the old leader through herself to gain a leg up and seize control of the crueler Court factions that remained. However Faolain had her own plans to seize full control of Cillian's body, slowly manipulating her through "help" until she showed her hand and tried to take over entirely and gain a second life. Cillian fought back hard, and lost everything in the process of exiting Faolain from her mind at last. She's not so much ex-court as exiled now.

DEAS

I don't have a ton on her yet, but she's a very cruel ex-courtier who went from esteemed duchess to a pale reaver post-HoT. She's still cruel and loves the taste of battle, but she's a little more constructive about it now lmao

FANTEI

Despite having been turned to the Court by force, Fantei has found herself within the Nightmare. She fit right into the cruelty and cunningness, ready to cause what damage she could. The only tragedy in her eyes, was the dearheard she left behind, who surely would want to now join her within the Court to be together and free. She was mistaken. It took her months to finally get to her ex while alone, and no matter how much she professed her love her ex rejected her. But surely the Dream was causing this confusion, and she couldn't leave her ex behind. So she took her to stay forever at her side. Piece by piece.

AEZLIN

He's a vain, pretty thing to the core. Everything he's done has been on a whim of getting exactly what he wants, and that included his conversion to Nightmare to have a courtier he thinks is handsome. He works gladly as a recruiter, utilizing his mesmer skills and beauty to easily trick and lure in clueless saplings for conversion.

I know it's like almost 2am my time so a lot of people are asleep but uh, I love hearing about other people's ocs and I've been thinking about the nightmare court so I wanna hear about y'alls courtiers

She's just so!!!!!!! She can't be fixed! She's so fucking broken and her life is such a tragedy, and there is no redemption path she can ever find.

He life trajectory was determined by so many other people and she knows this and she hates this, but there's no way to undo it and she can't trust anyone else to do better by her even when they've been shown to try...

And despite all of that, she still ended up attaching her feelings to another. She didn't want to, and god she wants that connection gone, when someone mentioned it once she nearly killed that person then and there.

She was once defined to help the Commander, her wyld hunt was once to work at their side with another, help save the world help end the dragon cycle. If the nightmare raid hadn't happened she would be loved and cherished and have a family

But instead she was abused and warped and in a twisted way tied to the dragon cycle without ever once stepping foot near any of it. All it took was too much raw magic saturation in the air...the tests done on her turned her into a generator, trying to create and manage so much leyline energy that her body wasn't meant for. All it took is one too many dragons dying and *pop*

And you'd think that would be the end but *it isn't*, because those fuckers and whatever they did to her aided in her healing abilities. The magic coursing through her body constantly degrading her also helps keep her going. Unable to move unable to scream, laying in a crater that was once the tiny sliver of space she called an excuse for a home until that one person she attached her feelings to came to check on her and found her in that state.

And they couldn't do anything, Strair's a spy not a medic by any measure. They can patch up a quick injury her and there but they have their own shit coping methods and a damn good healer friend to make sure they don't die in turn from their own deal. But that medic is busy right now, tied up with the Pact. With the commander. With the people that Illiadde was once...meant to be with...

So they take her there, a wanted criminal with a past tied to the Commander already in ways that no one could blame Laighe for turning them both away.

But she doesn't, she's had her own long fight her own endless traumas...she and illiadde are closer in understanding than they've ever been, not that illiadde would know. Not that she'd ever *let* illiadde know. All illiadde knows is she wakes up on another operating table. Like when she was young and everything lead to more pain and more tests

So she does the only thing that makes sense to her, she rips off a restraint and fucking throws the medic working on her hard enough to tear their arm off. They barely make it out of the room and she's locked down in it until she runs out of energy and passes back out to be restrained again.

She keeps trying. She can't stay here and there is no reason to her that anyone would help her. It's never been done, it's not an option. Ever. She knows she won't be helped, more than can't.

She gets lucky though, the sylvari she was once meant to work alongside to help the Commander, who remembers her from their dreams...she doesn't recognize them those memories don't even exist for her any more. But all it takes is some unlocked doors, some diverted guards. And she's out again. And she's alone still. And still broken in a way that can't be fixed and all that help did was prolong it, her life saved but no progress made.

She'll only ever be a weapon and she will keep losing everything.

8. What’s something that your oc is insecure about? Something that someone could say to them that would really get under their skin?

Anything truly! It does not take much to set her off, and if you're approaching her with no reason to (ie you're not a well known criminal looking to hire some dangerous muscle for a bloody task) then anything you say is immediately a potential threat either meant to attack her or catch her off guard. This woman exists on a hair trigger that's already half-tripped.

10. Is there anything your oc wants or likes that they have to keep secret, like a guilty pleasure? Anything that would get them ostracized, attacked, or just insulted for saying it out loud?

Strair. Just Strair.

Lace (who belongs to @ascalonianpicnic ) stumbled onto this fact once, and stared death in the face for voicing it. They existed in a very very specific situation where she spared them, but if they ever see her again it's fight on sight. They are well aware of this.

11. If your oc could go back in time and change one moment from their life, would they, and what moment would they change?

Surviving her emergence from her pod. If she knew what awaited her, she would've simply given up and let the Nightmare kill her before she emerged. Instead she fought to survive and it's only gifted her pain.

13. If your oc had one day where they could do anything without being caught, what would they do?

She honestly already does. She's damn near impossible to kill, extremely jacked up both in physical strength and durability along with the raw leyline magic that runs through her and she naturally produces. Nothing stops her and she really just doesn't want to do anything aside from be left alone these days.

She was once part of the Nightmare Court! She had actually been stolen as a pod, in an experimental raid the Court tried out, along with a few other pods. Only two survived, and one of those was her. She was crafter into the perfect killing machine for Nightmare, a means to any end they could ever want. And she is the only courtier to make it all the way to the Omphalos chamber before being stopped, in an attempt to kill the Pale Tree. She has since left the Court though, on her own now and a very ruthless mercenary for hire.

4. Do they have a family or people they view as family?

None whatsoever! She has a very unhealthy attachment going on with Strair who has the same unhealthy attachment, but even then she wouldn't consider them family.

7. Do they have a favorite mount?

She doesn't use mounts and PLEASE GODS DO NOT LET HER NEAR ANY she's also like. 9ft something so any mount would not really survive a riding attempt ._.

Enemy, imagine dragons (which i'm plucking from an old list cause song associations are genuinely so difficult for me lmao)

None! None at all! She is antagonistic in her entirety and even those she could find kinship with she would by default try to get away from or kill. If she were to somehow snap out of all her trauma and conditioning and mental scarring, she would've once gotten along well with Caithe.

Heads up, this is not gonna be the most satisfying answers! Illiadde is very sexy hot tall and strong 😳 BUT she is also a massively traumatized lab experiment and extremely averse to anyone getting near her. Apologies in advance!

👀 : Does your OC believe they are attractive? Do they use that to their advantage?

She doesn't think so, but she also doesn't really think about her appearance at all. She keeps her hair short to stay out of her eyes and that's about all she does for herself in appearance. And even that's just for practicality. The only thing she uses to her advantage is her fuck-off monstrous height and intimidating affect to keep people away.

🔥 : What’s a surefire way to make your OC get flustered?

N/A! She doesn't really get flustered. But she DOES get uncomfortable and then you get very very dead.

🦴 : Does your OC have much sexual experience? What are they like?

She has fucked exactly one person who she has an awful, fucked up, weird codependent energy-expending "thing" with, so she is very practiced in sex that is harmful enough to kill the average person.

Omg I think it's been a while since she's gotten any attention! She's been on the mind recently, being Laighe's old foil...Wrelia's ill-fated partner...with Laighe retiring it has my mind on her situation again

5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?

Easiest thing in the world, you don't even have to do anything! She doesn't trust anyone by default, and no one has changed that yet. Not even the single person the semi-regularly spends time with. The best you can hope for is her distrust is tied to indifference, because if you push it any further you'll have an 11-foot-something tall sylvari bearing down on you with intent to kill!

20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?

The simple answer is none exist, so they're the same. Love isn't real, it's a word used to try and make you compliant. To lull you into lowering your guard. Didn't work long on her, but she's seen it work worse on others, poor pathetic souls...no use in differentiating between nothing, zero and nada still give you the same answer don't they.

38. What memory do they revisit the most often? 

Unwillingly through nightmares, the experiment that hooked her up to leyline magic directly. Seeing the failed experiments still being cleaned our or strewn around the room...getting strapped to the table, told this will make her stronger, a bigger asset, even more of an effective weapon for the court. Then it just all goes white and too painful to stand before tuning back in to a room with even more bodies. ...the magic still hurts years later, even when her body's accustomed to it. She uses it for everything after all, just a constant reminder from the chronic pain.

A) Why are you excited about this character?

She's such a mess!!! Genuinely can't play nice with anyone, I can never shove friends at her or shove her at other peoples' characters in good conscience, and I think that's neat! I have a lot of characters with more open intricacies with chances for improvement, but Illiadde just doesn't have any of that. And I think it's a really fun exercise to play around with a character so utterly broken and irideemable sometimes.

Also the fact that she and laighe ended up mirroring each other in even more ways than intended as the plot went on...it's really really interesting to me and I love the two to death.

Boss fight for Illiadde? c:

Ohboy!!! You sure picked a fun one!

It'd be a short fight, unfairly so. Honestly, anyone can boss fight Illiadde simply by walking up to her or locking eyes with her. She is fight on sight, she does not want people interacting with her at all. If you're unprepared, ungeared, and just a simple npc, it's be one or two hits and you're out.

But, if you're prepared and going after her specifically to fight her, you might last at least a couple minutes. Illiadde is hardly a sylvari any more with all the ley energy pumped into her body that she now produces naturally. You'd be fighting a daredevil with speed and strength aided by the magic of the world itself. Her hits would take out half your health usually, 1/3-1/4 if you're as beefy and armored as you can possibly be. Your primary goal would be to avoid getting hit. And she's not too complicated at least, fast and hard to predict but she only comes at you with her staff.

The other hurdle is her cc bar. Whenever it's unbroken she takes minimal damage, near invincible. You have to cc her until the bar breaks, then get what hits in that you can in the brief time she's stunned before she immediately starts lashing out again.

She's a very soulsborne boss honestly, you have to really bide your time and rely strategically on your dodging and cc attacks as you whittle her down. And pray that you chose a beefy character with a Lot of healing.

When she dies, if you manage to actually kill her, that won't be the end of it. Her death comes with a monumental release of magic, akin to a smaller elder dragon death. A ley creature will appear within seconds to start gathering the magic, and you'd best either get out of there or face a second round boss.

I bought a couple commissions from @inaplanetyat for my two ex-courtiers, and holy shit, they managed to instantly capture perfect moods for each of them!!!! I genuinely think this is the best pose I’ve ever gotten of Illiadde in particular because they went for a pose I wouldn’t have even thought to ever ask for, but it’s so intrinsically Her! And Kvold looks absolutely regal which is amazing as FUCK!!!!!
