I've been rather lazy writing wise, ignoring my ever growing stack of WIPs and writing a silly little "modern girl in Thedas" for funsies, here's an excerpt. I don't know if I'm attached to it enough to pursue the half formed ideas I have for it for publishing on ao3 but it's been amusing me so whatever. I hope you like it!

The dream was strange.

Amanda had a knack for lucid dreaming so, while she stumbled to her feet and took stock of the landscape, she didn’t let her surroundings alarm her too much. As awareness began to flood her mind she concluded that, yes, this was a very strange dream.

Her hand flared brightly and she winced, though the pain was a secondary– inconsequential– thing as it often was in dreaming.

The land around her was bleak and hazy, as if illformed. In the distance a white light beckoned her but she stared down at her hand in puzzlement, something niggling in the back of her mind. Something–

A sound, snapping and sharp, drew her attention and she sucked a breath through her teeth at the glitter of a massive spider as it charged her from the murk.

“No,” she said. “I don't think so.” The dream surged around her and fell away like fluttering paper. When she looked again, she was somewhere softer.

“Much better,” she murmured, still with that faint sensation of something just at the edge of her mind. Something important. Something forgotten.

The dream was still hazy around her but unthreatening and soft like dawn. Her hand flared more insistently and she grimaced though the pain remained abstract, like a memory. Looking closer she drew a finger along the ragged tear in her palm but instead of knitting back together it sputtered angrily before falling quiet.

“Strange…” She tried smearing it away with her thumb but the line of green continued to pulse like a heartbeat, rhythmic and alien.

A noise like the sigh of cloth on stone snagged her attention next and she whirled, prepared to reshape the dream again but was frozen by the sight of a wolf staring at her.

It was large, or maybe she was very small –it was hard to tell in dreams– and white, and with, frankly, far too many eyes looking at her with way too much intelligence.

“How did you– It’s you!” It suddenly exclaimed, which was ridiculous and nonsensical so Amanda glared at it.

Strange wolves with too many eyes had no business being shocked by her after all. It was her dream, weird as it was. She considered her options.

“Alright, dream dog,” she began. It was staring at the light emitting from her hand looking utterly bewildered. She realized she was flexing her fingers in time with the strange pulsing rhythm of light and stopped immediately. “You aren't going to go for my throat or anything are you?”

Seven eyes the color of a misty morning blinked at her. “No,” it said, tail swishing once. “How did you come to be here?”

“What a strange question,” she countered, feeling herself relax without the threat of snapping jaws looming in her future.

“This is a strange place,” the wolf said, sitting with its tail tucked neatly around its paws and giving her a look.

“Yes,” she agreed drily, wondering why she was still talking to a talking dog. “Whatever gave that away.” She looked around where they were again and frowned, a thought coming to mind.

The wolf stood suddenly. “What are you d–”

Before it could finish its incredulous query the dream had flickered and resettled.

A warm meadow, she observed with satisfaction. A distant mountain range with snow capped peaks. The wolf, still with seven eyes she observed with some frustration, was surrounded in knee high grass, dotted with wildflowers.

“Who are you?” It demanded, moving forward.

She took an uncertain step back. Figments of her dreams never took notice of their changed surroundings before, not unless she willed them too.

She willed the seven eyes to reduce to two with no success. Unease fluttered in her belly. She’d never dreamed something she couldn't mold before.

“You first,” she challenged, ready to step into another, less confusing, dream at the first sign of danger.

At her demand she got the sense the wolf was amused. She bristled.

“Find me in the waking world, da’len, and I will introduce myself.”

Da’len? She puzzled over the word, that strange itch in her mind where a memory should be back, fiercer than ever. Wait.

“Waking world?” That would mean this creature was something not a part of her dream? What did that even–

She hadn't been wrong, the wolf was amused. “First, you must wake up.”

Ok, it may be that I'm Dumb, but what did Toph and Katara pick up on that prompted the use of the Life Juice (TM)?

Its supposed to be not that clear, but, Zuko has been bleeding internally despite Iroh’s best efforts, as the wound Azula gave him was purposefully fatal.

Zuko mentioning how his heart is racing so much is a false feeling, because time is slipping away and often that is how it can feel (according to some research i haphazardly did but) basically, what is happening is the opposite. Zuko’s heart is actually slowing down. Katara can sense it when she uses her healing techniques to study the damage, and Toph is trying very hard to see it as well (both her hands and feet on the saddle) and it is a parallel to what happened to Jet in canon. They both know Zuko is dying.

(But like... spirit water deus ex machina and Zuko is saved, he is okay.)

Since the fall, Ash had been instructed by Zephora to stay silent. To let the wounds on his face heal, to not damage them more. Not that he could really speak to begin with. The few sputtering words he’d managed to get out sounded muffled and illformed in his half-mouth. But even if he could speak, he wouldn’t complain. Not for a second. 

It would only take one glance at Blue, as they hid out in the cold fucking cave in the side of a mountain, his skin peeling and dead, pus covering his whole body, a magic aura around him to try and kill the agony he was in.... That would shut him up quicker than anything else. 

Weeks had passed and finally Blue was on his feet. Somewhat... It didn’t mean it was easy, or pleasant, but he could tell his brother was restless. 

With a grunt he tried to get his brother’s attention. He motions to the outside of the cave with a tilt of his head. A thunderstorm was on the horizon. Maybe watching it would keep him busy.

Thank you for quoting in one of your asks the whole thing Jason said in his interview after the finale. I only saw that one sentence about "misinterpretation" and I admit, I was a bit pissed about it, but after seeing the full thing I'm actually... not? It sound pretty reasonable? Note to my future self: don't listen to fandom and do your own reaserch, because as always someone changed a fly into an elephant, others went with it and we have another needless drama. So thanks for clarification!

Whenever fandom goes on one of its tirades I try to find the original source and figure out what was said, who said it, what their agenda is/was, how reliable they are, where it comes from, if it’s credible, if anything has been left out of the quote or has the quote been changed completely, what is the full context, what is the question, etc. Sometimes I check with google. Google can offer all sorts of clarity on what is actually being said. 

I want to KNOW what’s happening, I don’t want to be blown about fandom by illformed opinions based on non-factual thoughts and sometimes outright lies.

For instance. JR did NOT say bellarke were platonic, but it’s taken as fact that this is what he said. He said “non romantic partners and soulmates,” which might sound similar but, for a man whose business is words, is a very important difference. But people continue to say he said something that wasn’t said. 

Do they not care? Because their interpretation fills their confirmation bias? Are they ignorant and don’t KNOW he didn’t say that and don’t care to check what he did say? Because they trust randos on the internet? Because they like to be angry? Are they actually LYING to manipulate the audience? Don’t you believe that some people aren’t ACTIVELY trying to destroy JR, Bellarke and Bellarkers. Some people admit to messing with Bellarkers on purpose. Journalists and reviewers who think it’s FUNNY to rile up shipwars and misinterpret the story and erase the characters. Are they so egotistical that they think when they are wrong, that is impossible, and THEY can’t be wrong, it is the writers themselves who are incorrect because they are bad writers or telling the wrong story or didn’t understand the story they were telling as well as the Grand High Egotist understood the story. Which was wrong. Because her story was correct.

Ah. Never believe what people say until you can make sense of it, figure out where it comes from, whether it’s true or a lie, canon or an opinion. TBH that’s why I use so much canon evidence and keep going back to the text and breaking it down, so you can SEE where my opinions come from and how they connect with canon.

I apparently care about whether an idea is true, canon, or real. Not everyone does.

Actually, sometimes I won’t answer asks because I don’t know where they come from and I dont’ want to spread gossip or misinformation, which i have done sometimes.
