The black ends of his hair weren't always there, and are a side affect of his exposure to concentrated levels of blot in youth and the continuous exposure to it to this day.

The name Illari means 'Dawn' in Quechua. Which is a cruel irony given his resentment towards the sun.

Despite his stunted stamina rendering him pretty unathletic, he can actually do a cartwheel pretty effortlessly.

Unique Magic: Snuff out the light

Snuff out the light instantly shrouds any given area or person in complete darkness, within this darkness, apparitions appear as whatever the caster wills. This is usually very disorienting for the target, as it obscures their vision and could cause them emotional distress if what is displayed evokes that.

The tangibility of the apparitions vary on the caster's magic reserves and usage of it, but it is possible for them to cause physical harm to the target at the cost of immense blot accumulation. The same also applies to the area in which the spell is cast. Single rooms/enclosed spaces are much easier than in the open, as the caster needs to concentrate for how large of an area they want to cover. Additionally, the spell is much weaker if cast in broad daylight.

i wanted to ask: why does illari turn into a catboy after overblotting (aside from referencing yzma's cat form)?

Ohhh that's a fun question! A lot of background information will be needed to get the answer of that, so bare with the wall of text that will follow! tldr at the bottom! Well, For some context, Illari's overblot arc is a RIDE, it's follows the same wild goose chase nature as the emperor's new groove does, though as it progresses it deters away from the source material and gets a lot more serious. As in.. the sun is covered, type of serious. Which is in reference to the end of Yzma's song (that was unfortunately cut </3) 'Snuff out the light' Now. covering the sun takes A L O T, and Illari is by far no where close to malleus level magic. But in an overblot magic is usually very amplified and considering how much he's been doing to himself with blot. So he was able to squeeze out just enough for a spell to blacken the sky. That led to a rapid accumulation of blot, and only made his phantom stronger and larger. Illari's phantom was already very big from the start, an old little doodle for reference

So that made Illari very very close to being consumed fully by his phantom, as a last minute shot in the dark during the final showdown with him, Koka rummages through his potions and throws one at random at the phantom in hopes to transform it into something a little smaller to buy the other's some time to save Illari That potion worked! and transformed the phantom into a smaller catlike phantom, and in turn affected Illari as well. But it was enough to defeat him and bring back the sky! He still can't find a way to turn himself back.. he can only temporarily hide his cat features.

Tl:dr: Illari's phantom is massive and got a potion thrown at it by koka to make it into a kitty cat phantom to make it not as big and therefore consume less blot giving them more time to save him, and bc a phantom and the overblotted are connected, it affected Illari as well, making him a cat beastman

2. Who's Illari's closest platonic friend?

It would be Koka or Chrysis! (However more often that not those three don't end up platonic in the end, more like they are all kissing and they are all boys in a polycule mwahmwahmwah) Chrysis, is actually not my character and belongs to my brother! He is a twst of Oogie boogie who was previously in Reisollama and then transferred to Diasomnia. So in the case those three aren't so platonic, his closest friend would be Enrique Valenmorte, the housewarden of Diamuerflor. They frequently get coffee together and gossip. What little chismosos they are.

9. Who is his favorite staff member?

His favorite staff member, out of the NRC staff that is, would be Crewel. Another passion of Illa's is potion making, so him being the professor for it and being quite stylish while doing it gets him many checks in Illari's book.

19. Do they trust Crowley?

No. But that doesn't mean he doesn't like him. He favors crowley quite a lot actually. His incompetence allows him to do his experiments in peace. Not to mention he hasn't gotten a handle on the overblots, which has only caused more to happen, which is great news for Illari. More overblots mean more data.

OMG, you mean the ones of the various pictures of them being taken out on adventures? That's actually so cute I would hope so, I do not think they would be as wholesome though At night little marketable illa would whisper in their ears and get them to do lil science experiments with him
