Shen Jiu has been through hell and back, and god does it feel that way, with the thrumming energy in his body, his twisted stopped up veins, that hollow pit that clenches in his stomach no matter how he fills it, sometimes unable to eat because of it. But he has learned to not show it, never show an inkling of weakness, any crack in the facade of strength and power and you’re whole life will be over.

He would have no one to pick up the pieces if he breaks, sure, Qi-ge is technically near, but he knows he won’t come when it’s important, he knows he won’t even try. so he’s learnt to string himself back together, to hold these broken pieces of a person together by his own version of strength.

But there are little tells.. no matter how he tries. His brothel jiejies have to wake him up often, telling him the grinding of his jaw is too loud, to relax, he’s not on that mountain, or in that manor, or with that man. His tongue has been pressed up against his teeth too hard, too many times, clamped down on, bitten, it’s scalloped, serrated. When you finally say you’re ready to go further (which in all honesty it hasn’t been that long but to Abby it feels like an eternity) she is over the moon. She takes her time working you up. Teasing you all day making you ask for what you want and giving you little “oh yea?”s in return. She’s sooo gentle and sweet holding your hand and calling you her sweet pretty girl as she preps you with her thick fingers. And when she’s finally got her strap buried in your cunt she’s just as ruined as you are. The aftercare is almost as good as the sex just as sweet and she’s oh so reassuring.

ik we clown on sawyers sexism but we need to clown on jack as well bc hooo boy there's some covert misogyny happening there, especially regarding women he's romantically interested in (sarah, kate, juliet, ashara), where his saviour complex and protective syndrome WAY overshoots the line (re: stalking, obsessiveness, jealousy, not taking no for an answer when they won't tell him things, not letting them be capable etc). like with sawyer from his whole demeanour you'd expect it coming from him but with jack you wouldn't. until you're kate and he won't let you come on today's jungle trip even though he knows you're capable or when he corners ashara in her room and forces her to tattoo him. and of course this misogyny is soo tied up into his daddy issues & control issues etc. and i think he doesnt see himself as being sexist (not like sawyer is!!) and he'd probably be appalled if you told him.

anyway this isnt a well thought out analysis or smth it was just smth i've been thinking about the past few days and i wish the show had explored that aspect of it more...but to ask a 2000s american network tv show to meaningfully explore their male protagonist's sexism...i have to laugh.
