Hi! How was Ren Faire?

Omg thank you so much for asking It was absolutely amazing!!! I personally don't do much of the larping aspects of the Ren Faire, but I still I LOVE dressing up and just existing in the space with fellow nerds who also like dressing up. Truly the sheer creativity, detail, and beauty of the costumes always astounds me! I genuinely spent at least half the time there just fawning over other people's fits.

I have major decision paralysis mixed with the desire to impuse buy so shopping is always an experience. There's just so much to look at and so much I want. Again I just can't but help admiring the craftsmanship of all the different artists! I usually like to buy at least one new addition to my fit each year, so this time I got a large leather pouch to go with my bracers. I also got a magic lantern slide for funsies because I'm in a history of photography class, so when I saw them I was like 🫵🫵🫵🫵🫵 I know what you are. Sadly I did not get a sword like I wanted to. A good sword is expensive, so I wasn't going to buy one just to have it. I wanted to wait until I saw a sword that really stuck out to me, and I didn't find one. So I'm still on the lookout for a short sword or long dagger, I do not want to be walking around the shops knocking into things with a longsword or rapier (although for the latter I love when they have intricate guards).

Of course I also had to watch the jousting. I went to two events: the tournament joust and the ultimate joust. I was uprepared for the amount of plot, and I was also surprised by the production quality. The finale/ultimate joust had a lot of fireworks, explosions, and people engaged in combat. I was on the side rooting for the evil knights, so it was extremely fun to just chant "cheat to win" and "blood, blood, blood" over and over. And boy if there was any doubt knights were my type it's gone now because good gods does wearing armor make a person instantly hotter. The swords also help lol. Sadly of course my poor knights were slain at the end and the good guys won.

I was new to this particular Ren Faire, so I didn't get to see all the shops (me and my friends were lost most of the time and had to backtrack A LOT). However that just means more to do next year!!
