The passage of time within the paths realm differs from our understanding of how the time works and moves. In paths, time is a constant, almost unchanging and moving at a different pace than the regular world. An instant can feel like centuries, and centuries itselves can last for no more than the blink of an eye. It's a separate realm, that at the same time is bound to the real world throught the ties that bind the subjetcs of ymir and the coordinate together. It's the center of the universe. A place where organic matter can be reconstructed and reset countless times, and the memories and will of those with titans powers are able to move from bearer to bearer. The place where Eren and Zeke are is, in other terms, a liminal space. A world that's between the real one and something else, ruled by different rules and moving at a different pace.

The entity residing there is no other than the original Ymir according to Zeke, or at least a representation of her form.

He speculates that all the previous holders of the FT with royal blood travelled to this realm at one point or another when using the FT powers. The entity he calls Ymir emerges from the center of the world itself.

She appears as a simple young girl, dirty and worn out. A pitiful girl without autonomy or even a will of her own, mindlessly doing her work over and over again. Alone. Trapped forever in this realm where time doesn't pass.

Zeke is chained by the old vow of King Fritz. When the story told us that the old king had made a vow renouncing war with the FT, apparently they meant an actual meeting face to face with this Ymir, commanding her to form shackles from the soil and chaining every single royal blooded descendant that obtained the FT powers. But the things is, even if King Fritz will was that strong, bounds weaken when enough time has passed. Zeke, who's been here for ages waiting for Eren to wake up, has found a way around this restriction: he arrived here using a key, not possesing the actual titan power within himself. When he says that he has mastered the Founder, he means the loophole has allow him to evade the faith of the previous holders of royal blood, and is able to command Ymir to do as he wishes. After all, to him she's nothing more than a slave, doing her masters bidding time after time. Doing her royal masters wills.

But Zeke is in many ways still a child. Even if he has a goal, he has always craved a family that loved him, and has decided that Eren, in who he sees himself, is that person who inherently gets him and understands his motives. So fiercely has he longed for this bond, that even having doubts he decided to keep believing in it. He could just touch Eren at any moment and made his so called salvation happen... but he didn't. He needed to see what Eren would do, if he was really on his side. And he gets his anwer.

He's genuinely devastated by his doubts being confirmed. His grief is monumental. But at this point, Zeke is the master of the place. As long as he commands Ymir, his will is law. Seeing as Eren rejects him, he unshackles himslef and not only reveals his ploy, but once again reafirms he's not going to do this alone. If Eren is not acting as he expected the answer as to why is obvious: Grisha has brainwashed him as he did with him, and only once Zeke himself frees his brother can the two of them finally connect with each other and become the saviours of the eldian people.

Once he can get Eren to see the truth, how similar to each other they really are, once he manages to free his brother from the poison of Grisha, everything will be ok. Zeke needs to believe this in order to keep going. He has no intention of eating Eren; he honestly wants to save him. And by saving him I don't mean his usual defintion of the term: Zeke honestly wants to free Eren as an individual, as his younger brother, as a person in who he sees himself and has grown to love from the shackles of Grisha's apparent conditioning. He has managed with King Fritz vow hasnt he?

There's only one thing I can say with certainity, and Levi would agree with me: we have seen it time after time. Rod Reiss couldn't. The Military of Paradis failed too. Now Zeke has bounded his own brother in a misguided attempt of showing him the truth of their fathers malicious self.

And that thing is I pity anyone who ever tries to chain Eren Jaeger.

1. A series of firsts with Shanks, Both of them, I now realized I hadn’t even liked them yet, because they were literally how I found your blog and how I fell in love with your writings. Not many people have things for my favorite redhead, so yes, love at first sight with your writings! 

2. The Fern Flower Festival one! Such a perfect mix of funny and fluffy and I just loved the entire concept of it! I am due for another re-read as I work on part II of this absolute masterpiece! 

3. The fic that made me fall for Kid (amongst others) it was just so wholesome and I live for things that have these small domestic established relationship fluff things sprinkled in! And Killers commentary is golden! 

4. And the one that sparked an interest in Killer. Honestly I 100% blame you and Coop for even thinking about liking these two. I literally just told you a little while ago, SFW bath things are my downfall. I love them so much and you wrote it so well. 

5. Falling out of love with Kid, Law and Zoro You know I like my little bit of angst every now and then! I really enjoyed these A LOT.
