Any headcanons about Orpheus and Melly?

oooohhh yes ABSOLUTELY LOL

(edit: I wrote it all out, read more of their wiki stuff, then deleted everything and started over PFFFF. I swear, the more info I get, the next letter I read, it all just changes my views over and over again AH)

Melly:

-I think its interesting that if you choose the 'username' choice, when Alice is being called out to, instead of 'Alice' or 'Eurydice', its actually Melly's silhouette that is walking towards little Alice instead of the two versions of Orpheus. I think Melly has that genuine care for Alice and actually means it. Melly is an old acquaintance of Orpheus and would speak highly of him but here at the manor she is described as fearful and weary of him, more so than Norton (which makes me think that the change in Orpheus really started during the time between being good acquaintances with Melly and now at the manor). But I think it is genuine, that compassion and care for Alice and seeking friendship. Makes me think that Melly really does try to find connection and friendships but keeps being proven wrong, that those she chooses are not actually safe after all. -I think if Norton and her met outside of the mansion there would be beef between them lol I think they can see parts of themselves in each other. That doing whatever it takes to survive. They both treat life like insects, in a way, Melly like a female preying mantis and taking the heads of those who aren't useful anymore or mostly in her case, proving a threat. Norton like something that makes itself seem harmless until the time to strike for survival and necessary change's sakes come. Then Norton irritated that she was able to change her life of poverty to a life of serious wealth and 'freedom'. Then him not appreciating that she can still see right through him. Melly seeing him freely parade around as a friend and foe, being so unreadable and, most frustratingly, unpredictable. I think she would get on him about his table manners "If you want to CHANGE your life START with YOURSELF that is what I did. Start acting like where you want to be. Want to be high class? Start by eating correctly no matter how hungry you are" -I think she uses that veil mostly to study people. She can be seeming like she is looking and talking with one person, but in actuality she is watching another across the room. Talking to Alice but actually watching Orpheus. -There was likely awkward silence when it came to taking Alice back to the manor with Orpheus. She is weary of him and likely trying her best not to rock the boat, but I think she is counting down til she can finally make her moves. Likely trying to keep up the appearance that Orpheus and her are still buds. But something has changed, she can see it and she now knows danger is coming.

Orpheus:

-I personally am not sure that Orpheus started the manor games, but I think he took them on after the initial invitation to participate when going against Ada, Emil, Helena, and Galatea. Seeing the potential and wanting to control them and draw the memory of Alice out if she is still out there. -Just a note while I was reading through stuff, Its looking like the Orphanage purposely kept Alice away from Orpheus, especially after her 'to be adopted father' was entering the picture and promising proper treatments for her ongoing illness. and him knowing that with him adding 'LIAR' in angry bold lettering on the rejection letter. -I think Orpheus is the reason Alice was able to escape the horrid place she was adopted into. Earning his way into the trust of the scientist as one of them and tampering, allowing Alice to gain enough consciousness to grab everything she needed to escape and do so. -but after the game he participated in, he lost track of Alice with one too many uses of the drugs. -I think he and Norton keep their guards up with each other but put on airs that they are good drinking buds in an effort to put of airs that they are safe to be around. But for Norton It may actually turn to legit concern for Orpheus when the game is actually going on. Cause that one scene before he gets hella punched and it looks like he is trying to get Orpheus to stop hurting himself and him and talk sense back into Orpheus, but obviously doesn't work. Orpheus's only concern is Alice and saving her. I don't think Orpheus is capable of caring anymore, only for his only good memories of Alice is he capable. -I think Orpheus acts more like a child now than he ever did when he was actually a kid. He had to grow up fast seems like and seemed awfully mature writing stories while Alice dances/plays with her doll. Now Alice is writing and studying and taking things seriously as Orpheus is laughing and pulling strings finding it all ridiculously amusing aka playing 🙃

Now for more random 'not as influenced by canon' headcanons lol -Orpheus likes limburger cheese. (I think limburger cheese is AWFUL so I am biased pff) He seems like someone who would dig it and make everyone just watch him in 'eehhhhhhh'. Enjoying the thrill of making everyone shocked, uncomfortable, and awkward pff

-Melly saves every insect/arachnid everything from being squished and takes them to safety. And whacking anyone who was trying to whack an innocent insect creature.

-For some reason, I think Melly internally thought it was funny when Frederick said 'sorry to say that I am French" I don't know why but I keep thinking that LOL

-Orpheus now has the driest most uncomfortable humor lol "they died -WHEEEEEZZEEEEEE- GET IT??" everyone else: "eh......right...funny joke..."

21. Could you ever quit writing? Do you ever wish you could? Why or why not?

I mean, yeah, maybe one day! I don't want to quit writing, I certainly don't wish I could. I love this job! It's been my favourite ever job! It's also been the hardest fucking job I've ever done!!! But I still love it :'D

I don't want to say 'I'm never going to quit' - I don't know what the future might bring. The arthritis in my hands is pretty bad, maybe one day I'll be in too much agony to justify it. Maybe one day I'll just stop enjoying it. I don't believe in sticking something out forever based on how I feel about it now!

I can say with all confidence that I don't want to quit. The biggest flaw in this version of my job is that it doesn't pay super great for the amount of work that goes into it. BUT, it definitely pays better than working as a professional artist did, and there is growth, and amazing people do support the Patreon, so it's like...that flaw becomes less of a flaw over time.

I love this job. It wasn't one I would have picked for myself, but it's introduced me to the best people, it's something I feel I'm actually pretty good at (maybe I'm not, but this is a nice feeling to have), and it's kind of unique. I get to be my own boss (I'm a mean boss, but I'm getting better), and I get to work from home, and I can accommodate my chronic illnesses. I get to spend time in amazing worlds, with amazing characters, and then I get to reply to amazing comments and asks made by amazing people.

Like, when this job is going well, I feel like one of the luckiest people. When this job is hard I just groan a lot and take painkillers for editing headaches. But like, the good parts of this job are very good!!

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

I'm pretty organised.

So, all of my chapters are written in Microsoft Word and saved directly into Dropbox (with offline storage as well). All of my folders are also very well organised. I have a naming system for each chapter, and everything is chained together pretty well.

On top of that I now use Obsidian for worldbuilding (it's free! Though you can pay and they deserve money for their awesome service). I used to use World Anvil but found it too clunky for my personal needs. I have about 4 Obsidian vaults now (i.e. different worlds) and they look like this:

And the information in the individual files is set up like a Wiki page:

Not all of my worlds get this treatment, but Underline the Rainbow, Vexteria, Mallory & Mount and something else I've forgotten about all have vaults. Fae Tales doesn't, because I didn't know Obsidian existed when I started worldbuilding for that, lol, so all of that is in Word.

And then I will on occasion just write in notepads and in Paperblanks journals when I need to brainstorm stuff. This part of the process is especially useful when plotting, brainstorming names or titles, or figuring out the end of a story.

I don't use Google Docs (don't actually like it), Scrivener (hate it, sorry Scrivener fans), or anything else. Word has its issues, but it does well enough for me. I actually formatted Perth Shifters in Word.

23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.

I write in a study dedicated to art/writing, because those have been my jobs for over 15 years. I sit at a large desk, and have a desktop computer with one monitor (I've wanted two monitors for such a long time), a decent speaker system, and a good RGB hard-drive.

It's a mess, lol.

Hang on let me show you:

I have stickers on the desktop by the immaculate WhiskeyRabbit. I have a bunch of art supplies, and art in various stages of completion (the raven is finished, Augus behind the raven is not). There's meds and supplements everywhere. I have my Metformin (diabetes meds) in front of me because I often eat where I work, lol. I have some Sank collectible toys on the subwoofer because I find Sank very inspiring. And lots of art behind me like I'm some 18 year old instead of the 41 year old I actually am.

Oh and like, some half-finished chocolate blocks, lmao. And some fingerless gloves, a tea-towel, notepads for my writing, a calculator for my wordcount, a little spiky massage ball for the muscle/fascia issues in my wrists from writing so much, and much, much more.

It's a very ADHD desk. I do not notice the mess, lmao.

To my left is my writing whiteboard which tracks my writing and the chapters I've completed for the year, and my yearly wordcount to date. It also has some pinned up fanart and gifts from readers to keep me going when things get hard! :D

okie doke! harper is different in each of my versions. they share the same name and general information, as well as similar personalities, but it can vary throughout the universe they are in.

lets start with the most common on my blog, and my favorite :)

identity v !!

- seventeen years old

- born in 1881, i hc idv to be set in 1898 ( i did go on the wiki timeline to find this information... )

- they tend to be more shy and reserved, very limited to actual human interaction

- very poor at communication, often freezes up when put on the spot

- although they still work as a bard, playing songs for their town back home

- in the manor, they sometimes perform for the rest of the survivors

- they took a strong liking to andrew, tried to compliment him, proceeded to stutter their words and scurry off

- not a good look for them

- andrew took it as fear, and reserved himself further from them, very very much to harpers dismay (it only took emilys scolding to get him to realize they didnt mean harm)

- have been an unusual friendship since! theyre both shy and quiet, but andrew has a soft side that he can freely express around harper, and they feel as if they can trust him with their feelings :3 the best little/big sibling duo in the manor!

- they feel very drawn to tracy and emily, the two both very protecting of them (a bit babying, but theyll let it slide) they just enjoy their company, and often help out emily around the infirmary when survivors need any assistance.

- i had my first ever campaign with my friends who also didnt know how to play dnd, so we just goofed off for the most part

- i literally gave up every other skill they couldve had and negotiated with my dm to see if they could be able to magically play any instrument they found perfectly

- it worked, they can now play any instrument they want but at what cost.. they will crumble if they get slightly brushed over by the wind

- yeah so they ended up being very weak but its really no big deal

- they were on the verge of death twice, they had to sacrifice their pan flute in order to survive ( i think my dm hated them )

Author commentary:

I guess I was wrong a few pages ago. When Jade fired her gun and woke up sleeping Dave, that wasn't what prompted him to message her. He waited until he became a future version of himself, the one standing in the snow, before finally contacting her. I should have remembered this, because it's a pretty Dave way of handling the Situation, like "oh jade randomly appeared and fired a gun waking me up? thats cool ill just wait many hours and do a bunch of time traveling before getting around to messaging her about it." Then Jade gets kind of carried away about how awesome it is Dave can time travel, when he uses the ability to log off for an hour, go back in time, and pick up the conversation without missing a beat. Except it's not that cool, since she's already had a bunch of similar conversations with the trolls, who've been doing the same thing by hopping around the Trollian timeline. She's probably only wilding out about it because at this point in the story, she's still a shameless Davejade shipper. Karkat should take a few pointers from Dave here. Instead of dragging multiple versions of himself into the conversation and screaming at them in front of Jade about how they have a crush on her, he should try Dave's strategy, which apparently involves being such a stupid lousy cool dude that that he doesn't even bother messaging her when she randomly appears during his nap and wakes him up with gunfire.

Dave makes a joke about Jade being from Guam or wherever, but the exact coordinates are (-0.955766 -174.759521), or per the Homestuck wiki, 150 miles southeast of Baker Island and 50 miles north of Winslow Reef. This is actually a long way from Guam. About the span of the U.S., from one point in the Pacific to another. I probably made this joke because I used to live in Guam. Which sounds like a joke, but it isn't. I doubt anybody knows this fact about me. Most people don't know things about my life, because my life makes no sense whatsoever. It's hard to track, because I've moved well over fifty times, and there's a lot of disinformation that has accumulated throughout the known lore. The time I lived in Guam isn't disinformation though. It's undisinformation. Sometimes you need to mix a striking piece of truth in with an array of bland falsehoods to keep people wondering. One more thing about Jade's island location: I originally chose those coordinates because I saw something very mysterious there on Google Maps back in 2009. But on looking again, I don't see it anymore. Was it scrubbed from the system?! Nice try, government. Looks like you forgot who you were dealing with for a second.

Oh, we love a good lore dump. I haven't actually played the first two games yet and I'm not super knowledgeable about Forgotten Realms lore, so I don't have a huge amount to say about most of this, but it is fascinating.

In Larian's defence I will say that they weren't the ones who decided Bhaalspawn age; Murder in Baldur's Gate shows that the Forgotten Realms canon version of Gorion's Ward is definitely not physically twenty anymore (at least according to the wiki), even if he is unusually long-lived for a human, so Sarevok aging is in line with WotC's canon even if that canon makes no sense and contradicts itself.

I honestly don't think there was a perfect way to make Durge Bhaalspawn. I mean, if Bhaal's imprisoned he can't father them the normal way; him crafting them out of his own essence in some way (not actually sure if characters are speaking literally or metaphorically when they talk about Durge being crafted from his gore) if nothing else doesn't make less sense than him somehow fathering a child while dead/imprisoned/whatever. Assuming the timeline established via Blood in Baldur's Gate and Murder in Baldur's Gate is accurate they were around prior to his resurrection, but beyond that it's hard to say what exactly the deal was. Although him being incapacitated when he made them might actually help explain why he didn't just make them as an adult; it feels right to say it'd probably take less strength to make an infant or young child than it would to make an adult. Also personally I think so many issues would be solved if Durge wasn't... quite right for their race, like the poor copy they kind of are. Give me Bhaal filing off the serial numbers just enough that it isn't technically divine copyright infringement, it would be excellent and also pretty funny.

I kind of assumed that the Urge wasn't the same as what other Bhaalspawn get because it's not just instinct, it's a direct hold Bhaal has on them that he can use to control them? And it's not quite the same as the urge to slay Bhaal can inflict because it's always part of them, not something he has to deliberately cause? Or alternately like, he initially made them to be just the Urge but something went wrong (possibly because Bhaal was creating them in less than optimal conditions) and that's why they ended up being more than that. But again I haven't played the previous two games, so I don't know how the standard Bhaalspawn need to kill works.

I guess if Durge's soul belongs to Bhaal and there's nothing any god can do about it that explains why Jergal's solution is just... deciding that they're not going to die so long as he's around. I get the impression that if they do die of illness or injury he'll just resurrect them himself, hence why he says that death won't claim them as long as he endures. He might not intend for them to die at all, but it would be perhaps a little out of keeping for the god of fatalism to say "Nah, you're going to live forever, don't even worry about it." Also, Durge might not have to eat, sleep or breathe?! That's wild. And so very very fun, you could do so much with that. Also yeah the severe psychological damage of spending most of their life being given the choice between killing and being tortured or killed themself is probably going to have much more of an effect on Durge in the long run than any desire to kill left in them by their heritage after Bhaal ripped the Urge out of them.

Withers: Thou art now faithless - godless - and doomed to wander the Fugue Plane for eternity. Withers: I will not permit that, though all the powers of life and death dictate that it should be so. Withers: I, too, still hold some power, and I invest a portion of it in thee, who hath challenged the gods and now liveth to tell of it. Withers: Thy fight is not over, and it is thy fight, for one who can look upon Bhaal and oppose him can survive any crisis. Withers: So rise, Challenger of Gods, and prepare for battle once more. Death will not claim thee whilst I endure.

Not gonna lie: this sounds like whether or not Durge was immortal before, they sure as hell are now. I mean, "Death will not claim thee whilst I endure"? Sounds to me like they aren't going to be dying any time soon. Durge's relationship with death has been upgraded from "I'll have to ask my dad (he says no)" to "I'll have to ask my granddad (he says absolutely not under any circumstances)." Benefits (or curse) of coming from a family of death gods, I guess.

I love the imagery of a hush falling over the temple as all of this is happening. Like... based on Withers's dialogue this shouldn't be happening. Durge shouldn't be defying their father and Withers definitely shouldn't be bringing them back afterwards. From the moment Durge says no everything's gone off-script. It's also interesting that Withers says Durge defying Bhaal is in opposition to divine cosmology; keeping in mind I haven't played the first two games, I get the sense that while Bhaalspawn defying Bhaal isn't the norm it's not all that unheard of. There are two whole games about Bhaalspawn doing exactly that, actually. Then again Durge's situation is unique; possibly it's something like... as they were made from Bhaal's own gore Durge literally shouldn't be able to refuse him like that, which raises some fun questions about their life pre-amnesia. The suggestion that Durge kind of broke cosmology in defying Bhaal is very good and I'd love more details on that.

The suggestion that Durge is now entirely without a god to claim their soul on their death and will wander the Fugue Plane for eternity now that Bhaal doesn't want them is very interesting, considering that you can be a cleric and so bound to a god other than Bhaal (unless the dialogue is different under those circumstances). I guess Bhaal took priority as their father and maybe since Durge died as a direct result of him abandoning them no one else had the chance to stake a claim? But if this is just the way of things for them now and their soul can't be claimed by a god that's. not good. But then again I guess technically Jergal has it. It's fine! I really like him walking into this situation and saying "No, they don't deserve this and they're too important to this fight, I'm not letting them die like this (or at all)."

Based on what Bhaal says prior to this Durge dies less because he directly killed them and more because his divine essence was their life force, so when he ripped it out of them they had nothing to keep them going? So then what Withers is doing seems to be replacing that portion of Bhaal's divine essence with his own, giving Durge a new life force in the process (hence why they'll now endure as long as he does, since presumably if he dies that new life force will die with him). Durge may or may not thank him for that (that bit about Durge's death bringing them more joy than any they've caused hits hard, and even harder when you consider that the deaths they've caused include Ketheric and Orin and potentially include people who hurt their companions like Cazador, Gortash, Viconia...), but it seems like the divine equivalent of a heart transplant or something similar.

I must admit the last time I watched this movie was years ago, so I read up on his wiki, and am basing him a lot on other versions of joker I know more about. So, if he’s not very canon to the movie, that’s why.

I couldn’t figure out what his first name was in this movie, so ill go with Jack as that’s what google said it was.

I made the reader a bad guy in Gotham in this, for some spice.

Reader will use testosterone gel instead of injections, since that’s what I know best.

-          You and Jack met because you were both so called villains in Gotham. Him being the Joker whos main goal seemed to be bothering batman, and you being an individual who had lost everything to the richest people in the city. You had watched everyone you love lose it all, and many pass away because they couldn’t afford treatment because they were robbed blind by those rich individuals.

-          You and the Joker stumbled across each other whilst you were getting revenge on a man who robbed one of the personal hospitals blind, so it couldn’t treat anyone.

-          This was the same hospital you would have gotten testosterone at, but because of this one man no hospitals in the area could afford such a thing, leaving you without it.

  -          After this run-in, the two of you seemed to keep bumping into each other. At first you were slightly put off by his personality, but it grew on you with time. And you came to enjoy his presence, and him yours.

-          He even seemed to go out of his way to try and swoop you off your feet. At some point he started bringing you actual flowers and gifts to show his interest. You had decided you didn’t want to mix your civilian life with your night job, but he stayed persistent.

-          It was when he caught multiple of the people on your list, and left them on the roof where you would normally meet, wrapped in a big bow, that you couldn’t hold yourself back anymore.

  -          You accepted his confession, and in the beginning you still kept seeing each other during your night jobs, but at some point you started meeting during the day too.

-          He seemed puzzled at your appearance outside of your “bad-guy get-up” as he would call it, as it made your body appear more masculine and made your chest flat.

-          He didn’t comment on it, and when he started using she/her pronounce you couldn’t get yourself to correct him since you had come to love him so much. You didn’t want to lose him.

-          You silently suffered, and kept your many doctors and psychologist visits a secret, and when you finally got accepted to receive testosterone again, you didn’t know what to do.

  -          You arrived back to your shared apartment, and sat on the bed you shared, holding the small container of gel in your hands.

-          You had thought maybe it would be easier to hide from Jack. But you had started to reconsider. He would notice when you started changing, and maybe he would be even more angry.

-          Lost in thought, you didn’t see him wander into the bedroom, or how he near constant grin wavered slightly at your distressed appearance.

-          When you finally realized he was there, he had crawled onto the bed behind you and wrapped his arms around you, resting his chin on your shoulder and asking you what was wrong.

  -          You almost flung the container of gel across the room, but he caught your wrist. You tried to pull away, making up many excuses as you tried to hide it.

-          He tilted his head, reading the label on the top that said your dead-name, what the gel was, and what it was used for.

-          He was quiet for a while, making dread fill your throat and your eyes water. Now he knew, and he would leave you just like everyone else.

-          “Oh love, why didn’t you tell me?” he said, voice soft and full of affection.

-          He moves back and lifts his hands to cradle your face in them, turning you to look at him.

‘Better Fighter: User Nordenfang suggests that Carter may actually be a better fighter, since she "was a trained agent whereas Steve was just some kid from Brooklyn. So she has a headstart in that department." They do go on to say, however, that they believe the original Captain America made up for that in his leadership skills. It is true that Peggy was perhaps more suited to a life of combat than the pre-serum Steve Rogers was. It would have taken less time for her to adjust to her new body and skill set since they would not be entirely new to her. Her hand-to-hand battles also appear to be one of the fandom's favorite parts of her solo episode, lending credence to the idea that she is a more skilled combatant than Rogers was.’

This could be true, but I don't think they realize that what they are talking about is a huge privilege Peggy had over Steve. Steve's problems weren't just that he was short and skinny; it was the numerous chronic illnesses and disabilities he had. We didn't hear about Peggy having any health problems (until she got older), and after getting the serum, she said that she didn't feel very different from before.

I'm not sure how much training she had previously, but since she started out healthy and fit, she would have had an advantage over when Steve had just received the serum. But the entire reason for that comes down to Peggy having privilege over Steve. And that privilege, like all privilege, is important to keep in mind and talk about.

‘Effects On The People Around Her: In a post following the finale of What If...?, curvysquares points out that, in Captain Carter's timeline, Black Widow was aware of what her father's name was despite not having travelled to Vormir yet: "one of the butterfly effects of Peggy becoming Captain Carter led to Black Widow either always knowing her fathers name, or finding out about it before 2014." This is an interesting detail hidden away in just a few lines of dialogue. It would seem that Captain Carter's presence was enough to cause ripples throughout the timeline, affecting her compatriots in seemingly positive ways. It is unclear what exactly led to Natasha gaining this knowledge, but it would no doubt benefit her to be more in touch with her lost past.’

I'm not sure when they decided that information about Natasha, but since only the name Ivan was from the comics*, it probably wasn't until they started writing Black Widow. According to Wikipedia (so it might not be entirely accurate, but they did provide sources for all of it), Black Widow was written in late 2017 and then rewritten in February 2019. I'm not sure when endgame was written, but they started filming in August 2017. So, in short, that information about Natasha was probably written after endgame, which was Steves last movie (although he was very out of character in it) was written. And knowing information that hasn't been written yet is, as far as we know, still impossible.

*(My knowledge about the comics comes entirely from random fun facts that I randomly find online. But after checking the comics wiki page on her, it looks like she had a foster father named Ivan Petrovitch and that Alexei Shostakov was actually her husband. So I'm pretty sure that they did not base it closely on the comics version)

Also, they clearly haven't seen any of the scenes where Steve clearly shows that he has a huge influence. I mean, just rewatch ca:tws, and especially the effect his speech had on the non-hydra shield employees.

‘She May Be Stronger: Not only might Captain Carter be a more skilled fighter than Captain Rogers, but, according to Soggy-Essay, she may actually be physically stronger than him too: "Since she was already in her physical prime before being enhanced, she benefited from the serum more than Steve." This theory looks back on the idea that the super soldier serum enhances everything about its subject. Since Steve Rogers was just a skinny kid from Brooklyn when he received his dose, perhaps Peggy Carter's already cultivated physique would benefit more from the transformation than he would, making for a more imposing force in the process.’

Is there any evidence that the supersoldier serum works better for people who are already physically fit and healthy?

Dr. Erskine picked Steve specifically, and while fully knowing about all of Steve's disabilities and health problems, but he never indicated that any of that would hinder the serum in any way. And in fact, anyone who thought so, like colonel Phillips, was clearly proven wrong in ca:tfa.

Also, Steve is the only one we see grow that much from becoming a supersoldier. Peggy didn't become much bigger, nor did any of the other supersoldiers we have seen.

However, all of this is once again ignoring Peggy’s privilege over Steve and that Steve was disabled.

‘She's More Aggressive: Redditor conorthearchitect, in a post detailing different matchups that the two Captains could face each other in, points out that Captain Carter is the "more aggressive" of the two, and probably better in a one-versus-one scenario. They nod to Carter's "ferocity" on the battlefield as well. Captain Carter is indeed shown to be more aggressive in battle than Steve Rogers at times. She is seen striking fear into the Hydra soldiers often, who rarely have any chance in a battle against her. While Steve was alway victorious against the enemy grunts, they were never shown getting demolished in the way that What If...? depicts with its own multiversal Captain, indicating that she may indeed be the better Captain America of the two.’

How is being more aggressive a good thing?! I have a lot of issues with tfatws, but one thing they got right was focusing Captain America more on de-escalation and communication. In civil war, we also saw some of this clearly with Steve trying to reason with Tony several times. Isn't that better?

Plus, as much as I despise Zola, Peggy torturing him is still a war crime.

‘Her Sword: One would be remiss to talk about Captain Carter without bringing up a major difference between her combat style and Steve's: that epic sword. In a post calling for fans to "Respect Captain Carter" corvette1710 lists several of Peggy's impressive feats with her weapon, including, "cutting through tentacles" and "stabbing her sword into stone to stop herself from being pulled by tentacles." Peggy really does make good use of her additional weapon, battling the interdimensional squid monster like a pro. Though she hangs on to the signature shield, she is not afraid to add to her arsenal if it means keeping the world safer. And no one could deny that wielding both a sword and a shield makes anyone look cooler.’

There is a reason why Captain America's main weapon is a shield, and it's not the aesthetic.

‘She May Be Faster Than A Speeding Bullet: Discussing a scene in which Captain Carter turns on a dime to use her shield to deflect a shell from a tank, OoFGangOnCok comments: "Captain Carter is probably the only character who has a legit bullet timing feat in the entire MCU," suggesting that her speed and agility exceed those of even the original Captain America. It is no doubt that Captain Carter has surprisingly fast reflexes and reaction times, though she certainly isn't the fastest character in the MCU. If even a speeding bullet cannot catch her off guard, it is hard to imagine that anyone would be able to get the jump on so agile a Captain as she.’

I guess this is another way to say that they haven't seen a lot of Steve’s (or a lot of other characters) fight scenes. I mean, the only one who has ever successfully shot Steve was Bucky (while under mind-control), who is also a supersoldier.

‘She's Morally Grey: "I think she's less of the goody two shoes that Steve was," writes MarchMadnessisMe, later adding that "she'd be more willing to go along with Fury and Natasha as far as blurring the lines of following the rules, if it were for the right reason." They point out that Steve was at times too pristine to do what needed to be done, whereas Carter always seemed prepared to take the necessary steps toward saving the day. It is true that Steve's steadfastness often proved to be troublesome for him. His strength of character was far from a legitimate weakness, but it did often create a blindspot. However, it is also true that this moral fortitude served him well at times, including when he felt that S.H.I.E.L.D. had gone too far with Project Insight, causing him to uncover Hydra's total infiltration of the department.’

Again, how is this a good thing?! And with the “blurring the lines” and going with Fury and Natasha, wouldn't hydra have succeeded?

I do think that more morally gray characters can be more interesting. But I can't see how that makes the morally gray character better.

However, this doesn't really matter because Peggy isn't presented as a morally gray character by the narrative. She is presented as an entirely good person like Steve, which is one of the reasons why I am so annoyed by her. Because she is an ethically darker character, but no one actually acknowledges that. We are still supposed to see her as entirely good and just ignore her flaws like the narrative does.

‘She Solves Problems: Reddit user andromon11 points out that the episode featuring Captain Carter saw many of Captain America: The First Avenger's problems "become non-issues" much easier than in the original movie. They attribute this to Carter's "competency" in her role as a leader. The episode does seem to solve several of the problems that were unresolved by Rogers's first outing as Captain America. For instance, Red Skull was permanently killed at the end of the episode, whereas he remains a mysterious entity at large in the Sacred Timeline. There also seems to be no Winter Soldier in Captain Carter's universe, though What If...? episode 9's post-credit scene might beg to differ.’

All those problems are solved because What If? was written more like bad AU fanfiction by a very inexperienced writer.

And anyone who has actually paid attention to Steve (I'm sensing a theme here) knows that he solves many problems.

They also point out that it seemed like Carter was quite thrilled with her enemies' misfortune of meeting her on the battlefield. Steve Rogers was certainly not the "life of the party" in the MCU. He was often the stoic leader, letting other Avengers like Tony Stark and Rocket Raccoon have all the fun. Captain Carter, on the other hand, seemed more willing to enjoy her time as a superhero, making for a very different kind of Captain indeed.’

Once again, they have clearly not paid much attention to Steve, or they would have known about his sense of humor.

Yes, god forbid anyone takes the destruction of Earth, the deaths of half the universe, or nazis taking over the world seriously. That last one is especially huge considering that Steve comes from one of the groups of people the nazis wanted to eradicate (disabled people). And he is probably way more conscious of the eugenics parts of the supersoldier serum, considering that he grew up as a target of the eugenics movement, which Peggy wasn't. He doesn't just “enjoy being a supersoldier” because he knows what it means and how serious it is. Peggy hasn't faced any of that. And judging by how she talks about it, she either isn't aware of it, or she is aware, and either doesn't care or approves.

Yes, he is usually a bit more serious when facing serious threats. But how is that a bad thing? If I were a civilian who needed saving in the MCU, I would definitely feel safer with someone like Steve than someone like Tony.

This all sounds like it was written by people who have never actually paid any attention to Steve and just think of him more like the pre-civil war government propaganda version of him.

There was a reason why Dr. Erskine chose Steve and why Steve is the only one who chose to take the serum and didn't become bad (Bucky and Isaiah also didn't become bad, but they had the serum forced on them). And the reason was Steves moral code and how intensely he sticks to it. That is also the reason why he gave the shield to Sam (although the way he did it wasn't exactly great, but that is just because he was so out of character in endgame). He recognized Sam’s good qualities just like Dr. Erskine recognized Steve’s. And those good qualities are the most important part of being captain America. I'm pretty sure that John Walker is clear enough evidence of that.

Since I've seen some posts advocating against the use of 'Aspie' and 'Aspergers' going around (good!) I wanted to make an own post about something I've noticed when reading the Wikipedia articles on Hans Asperger

Specifically about the difference between the English & German page and the Polish page. Specifically about how the Western European side of things tries to waffle around his Nazi involvement and obscure and excuse his blatant participation with the use of clever linguistics.

I'm gonna put my linguistics degree to good use and show you a quick analysis of how they do that.

Discussion of ableism, eugenics, Nazism, ww2 events, death & murder ahead. Proceed with extreme caution.

I'll show you the English version first:

So the English version tells you about the "murder" of disabled people, especially disabled children during Nazi times. It however, obscures Hans Aspergers involvment in it. By the use of the words "allegations", which implies room for interpretation, instead of "substantial historical accounts" or simply "proof", and by telling you that his exact involvement and knowledge "remains unknown", which is a flat-out lie. We do know his involvement. We have it documented. He was part of a committee which classified disabled children after their usefulness to Nazi German society. Those who did not pass the classifications would be sent to a Nazi clinic where they would be murdered. Aspergers was directly involved in the classification part.

On to the German Wiki:

After a short description of who he was and what he did we get the sentence I marked: "His role during the time of Nazism is said to be debatable". Immediately, what is centered here is not the proof that we have. Instead, you are invited to take his involvement with the metaphorical grain of salt. His guilt is washed clean and made to be a subject that can be debated away.

This is probably the most difficult part to read so you may want to take a break.

The German text reads:

Asperger during the time of Nazism.

Asperger was part of a committee of seven, whose task was to categorise 200 disabled children after their "cultivation potential" in order to determine their fate. 35 children were deemed "unpromising cases" and as a result were transferred to Spiegelgrund, where all of them died. The basis to accuse him of murder because of that is lacking, because there were more necessary steps for the murder of these children, but he was a part of the legitimation of these murders and, as an expert, supported the categorisation in "usability levels".

So, if you're not a Nazi apologist, reading this passage should make it clear to you that Asperger's involvement in the death of at least 35 children was substantial, as he was part of a committee that applied eugenicist ideals of usability to human beings, in order to determine their worth. This alone is substantial evidence of Asperger's active support and enactment of the policies of the Nazi regime. However, the passage relativises this involvement yet again by focusing on a legal technicality, namely that he didn't singlehandedly hand out the poison that would kill the children. A fact that the article euphemistically describes as "more necessary steps". The last sentences remark that he was "part of the legitimation of the murders", however with the relativism of the previous passages this remark falls short of the actual impact it should have.

Now I would like to show you how the Polish Wikipedia article describes Hans Asperger's Nazi involvement. (Poland at that time was under Nazi occupation leading to the death of millions of people).

The Polish article is not perfect either, however, there is no big relativising part of Hans Asperger's involvement like in its Western counterparts. Instead, you get a short sentence that says it all:

"There is evidence, that he actively participated in the action T4, which consisted of the extermination of mentally ill children."

Shortly but consisely, the Polish text does not wash Hans Asperger clean. Quite the opposite: it stresses that he was involved "actively", and that his involvement is based on substantial "evidence", implying it's not just speculation but historical reality. It is also the only text to explicitly name "action T4", which was omitted from the Western articles. There are also no euphemisms: the word "murder" is substituted for the word "extermination", highlighting the horrific and systematic nature of Nazi eugenicist killings.

To conclude

If you compare two Western Wikipedia renditions of Hans Asperger's involvement in the extermination of disabled children and one from a country which itself suffered under Nazi occupation, it reveals something striking and horrifying. It is evident that there are substantial attempts to relativise Asperger's involvement on the Western side, and attempts to wash him clean of guilt.

Comparing this with the Polish article that mentions action T4 by name when the others, which are longer, didn't, makes this especially striking.

Combine this with the fact that Aspergers syndrome as a name prevails in many German speaking countries.

The conclusion here is that everyone, but especially Western people and especially German speaking ones should really take a good, long look at why they still use the term, if they do, and why there is an unwillingness to admit Asperger's blatant involvement in the extermination of disabled children. And then stop using the word, and start talking about Asperger's involvement in the Nazi eugenics movement without any relativism.

So for AAW this year i decided to explore some QPRs since ive never done that before (does that even qualify for AAW?). So without further ado (i'll try to keep it quick) these are the relationships that give me the strongest QPR vibes theres no particular order just a attempted color gradient

1. Joan Watson and Sherlock Holmes (Elementary)

Ive talked about these two before for AAW 2019(?) so ill touch on them briefly (and i'll put the link in the notes). Disclaimer: This is a show that i watched in bits and pieces, almost primarily from reruns. The longterm focus of this show is clearly these two's relationship. In the beginning they were stuck together, and then they chose to be together but they still had issues, at one point they stop talking to each other (like legit didnt talk one of them moved away and they didnt stay in contact), were together with issues again, and then they were primarily okay, and at one point left/fled the country together even though only one of them had to. Throughout the show there are these spoken moments that really tell the depth of their relationship, from either them or other characters. Off the top of my head theres "you named a species of bee after me," "i think shes the person you love most in this world," "i consider you to be a exceptional person. So i make a exceptional effort to accommodate you," "this is your home," "i'll stay. Of course i'll stay," and that line in the picture. They dont seem to struggle that much when it comes to describing their relationship and believe "partners" sums it up best. They live together, see each other as the most important/favorite person in their lives, and are raising a child together.

2. Aziraphale and Crowley (Good Omens)

Im not sure these two count, being not human and all. In the show and in the fandom (and i assume the book) people, and they themselves, struggle to understand their relationship and on top of that they arent supposed to be on good terms with each other (one is a angel and one is a demon). Are they friends? Enemies? Boyfriends? Best friends? Crowley at one point comes to the conclusion that never having Aziraphale in his life again is worse than the end of the world. One of the definitions for a QPR is "undefinable relationship," which fits nicely here.

3. Mako Mori and Raleigh Becket (Pacific Rim)

Disclaimer: i havent seen this movie since it was in theaters and therefore dont remember much. If i had know what a QPR was when i saw this movie it would have made so much more sense. One of the background themes is strong relationships (you cant power the robots without it) which includes familial, platonic, and romantic. These two were left ambiguous, all the shots were framed in that typical "they're gonna end up together by the end" way only for nothing to confirm it at the end. It was wonderful. You follow two different gendered strangers who become super important to each other and share all their darkest secrets and memories and give each other soft looks to not end up dating at the end. Wether or not you see it as a QPR its a movie that doesnt erase m/f friendship and thats just fantastic.

4. Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau (Captain Marvel)

Before Carol disappeared it was clear she was living with Maria, her best friend, and helping her raise Monica, Maria's daughter, from a young age. Its clear her "death" greatly effected them.

5. Maka Albarn and Soul Eater Evans (Soul Eater)

I recently rewatched this show and their relationship on the surface seems like Two Kids Who Are Opposites And Dont Like Each Other Are Forced To Do Group Project type relationship but its actually so much deeper. They're roommates and best friends and each think the other one is the greatest person they know. They both have arcs centered around protecting the other. Soul states on multiple occasions that he's not into Maka, and Maka compares their partnership to her parents' marriage but never actually expects or acts like Soul is her boyfriend. Its clear they're gonna stay together for a long time coming.

6. Clint Barton and Kate Bishop (Marvel Comics)

Okay so i could say so much on this but let me start this off with a big Disclaimer: i have not read these comics, all of my knowledge comes from fan works (like the entirety of ao3 and tumblr) and wiki pages. These two. THESE TWO. Ahhh i dont even know what to say because i dont know if this is a thing where fanon versions are entirely OOC. These guys have something like a 12 year age difference, so from the outside their relationship seems weird. People (real or fictional idr) keep trying to slot them into familial roles (big brother and little sister, uncle and niece, dad and daughter) but the truth is they're friends and partners. Ya its a little weird with their age difference but if they were both 10 years older most people wouldn't even notice the age difference. Clint makes it clear to us just how much he loves Kate. She's super important to him. Just looking for pics for this post i saw so many panels displaying how close they are. Idk if its canon or not but fanfic really gave the impression Kate basically lives part time at his place. These two give me vibes that they have the kind of closeness where they could cuddle on the couch together and it wouldnt be weird. And i mean full horizontal doing a balancing act in order to get them both to stay on the couch between the backrest and the edge so they could nap. Like if one of them was married their spouse wouldnt be surprised to wake up in the morning and find them both eating breakfast in their PJs. Like these two would kiss on the mouth but it wouldnt be romantic at all just a way to express emotion. They just give me this vibe thats led to so many headcanons and idek if its canon

thoughts on Bela///Donna?

What a lovely can of worms you've placed in my inbox, dear nonnie. I cannot wait to open it and lose followers (regardless of what I actually say).

Since this is, uh, a subject of some debate among RE8 fans, I will be inputting my thoughts on the idea of the ship (and the possible controversy), as opposed to doing HCs or something for it (which I recognize might be what you were asking for, despite the excessive /s).

This is all based on my playthroughs of the game, as well as what I've managed to double check on the fandom/wiki for it. I know that a lot of people who read fanfic for the game haven't actually played it, likely having been lured in by Tall Vampire Milf, and so I hope that some people will be open to a reminder of, like, canon vs fanon? I've mentioned in a previous post that there's a lot of details for RE8 that are not made clear, and I feel the need to reiterate that in this post. Capcom left a lot of stuff up to people's imaginations, or kind of just hinted at in game or in concept art.

But more importantly, regardless of what game we're talking about, regardless of the conclusion I come to (and the one you come to) at the end of this post, I want to say that I absolutely understand the need/desire to have your own perspective/take on the characters from the game, as well as their dynamics. If a ship makes you uncomfortable because you see the characters as being family members, it's totally okay. Block the ship tag, or filter it out when you look through fandom stuff, don't follow people who post for it, etc, etc.

If you think of characters as being family-family (like, not just "we got married and are now a family" but, like, "we're siblings/parent and child") and still ship them? uh. sorry, bruv, maybe think of hitting that unfollow button. No, seriously, hit that unfollow button. This blog is anti-incest, thank you very much.

The last thing I'll say before putting it under a read-more (for both length and major RE8 spoilers) is that I recognize that I might have missed something, either in game or developers talking about things on social media, and so if you read through this and go "god, J, you're such a dumbass for forgetting *critical piece of media*" or even just "okay but have you seen *small but meaningful piece of media*?" please. Just. Please. Tell me. Link me to that shit. I WANT to know if I'm wrong. I've literally avoided talking about this for as long as I could in order to TRY and make sure I have all the context I need.

With that said, let's examine what context we are given for Alcina Dimitrescu, Bela Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, and their relations to each other. I will be leaving my personal thoughts on Bela///Donna at the very end of this, as somewhat of a conclusion, somewhat of just a "hey, this is what you technically asked me about".

Firstly, let me begin by explaining what I consider to be the 3 tiers of "canon"

In-Game/Direct: The highest, truest tier, the definitive canon. This is everything that takes place in game, excluding certain hallucination scenes (ex: Mia was not really in House Beneviento, but we can infer some things from what Donna made Ethan hallucinate about). Things either happen, or are directly stated by characters. There's some wiggle room for dialogue, as characters can lie, but overall we, as the audience, assume we are being told the truth. At the very least, games usually eventually make it clear when a character has been dishonest. Examples of Direct Canon include the following: Ethan is infected with the mold, Lady Dimitrescu drinks blood, Heisenberg wears sunglasses, Mother Miranda can shapeshift.

Concept Art/Developer's Notes/Indirect: Mid-tier and debatable, the "we think, but we're not sure" of canon. Resident Evil: Village contains lots of concept art that the players can browse through, all of which include notes from the developers about the game, characters, environments, and story. Sometimes the notes make something "direct", but oftentimes they do not specify whether the listed idea is still canon or if it was removed during development. This tier also includes information that is implied/can be inferred from tier 1 information, but is not directly stated. Examples of Indirect Canon include the following: Donna's mother died by suicide, Moreau was going to have his lover fused to his back, Duke was originally a fifth lord, Heisenberg was going to have a twin. As you can see, not all of the concept art ideas made it into the final version of the game, so it can be hard when some information seems like it might still be true (such as the matter of Donna's parents).

Fanon/"False": Sometimes collective ideas in a fandom become so widespread that people start interpreting them as actual canon. Sometimes it gets hard to remember what's just obscure lore and what's fanon. When we get a piece of fiction as overall vague as a lot of Resident Evil: Village is, there's bound to be some confusion over time. That's one of the main reasons I waited to talk about Bela////Donna until after I had recently replayed relevant sections of the game, as I wanted to remind myself of what we're actually told. Examples of False Canon are difficult to pinpoint, but might include things like: Hufflepuffs are good at finding things? The Avengers got along for awhile and all had their own rooms in the tower? There's a number scale for the danger level of ghosts in Danny Phantom?

For this post, I will be limiting the majority of my notes to the first two levels of canon, and will do my best to mark them as such. Now... let us... begin.

Alcina Dimitrescu:

Born no later than 1914, Alcina Dimitrescu was 44 years old when she was granted the Cadou by Mother Miranda. (1st Tier: Canon. Source: A note in the castle basement from a servant is dated 1958, and mentions both Alcina and her children. Alcina refers to the other Lords as her family once without any disdain (when Ethan first arrives at the castle and is caught, Alcina says "you've escaped my little brother"). In a private journal (located near where she threw the infamous vanity) she insults the other Lords, and expresses anger that she is "treated like a sister to them". She argues with Heisenberg without any hesitation, and seems honest in her hatred of him (per Maggie Robertson's wunderbar performance). We are not given any information about how Bela feels about the other Lords, or even what she knows about them. Once can assume that she shares the ideas of her mother, either because Alcina tells her things directly, or because Bela (who is eager to please her mother) picks up on them over time. Donna Beneviento:

No idea when she was born. If you've read one of my recent posts, then you know that it's almost entirely a matter of 2nd and 3rd tier canon.

Of the four lords, Donna seems to have the most story within the 2nd tier, and has very, very little in the 1st tier. Duke says she's somewhat isolated, and that her "playmates" never leave the house. Miranda's notes state that Donna is mentally ill, and the gardener's diary states/implies (bit of both) that Donna has severe social anxiety. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly canon)

Supposedly, her parents committed suicide while she was still a child. This is indicated in concept art/the attached developer's notes. However, the only part that's also directly stated in game is that her parents (specifically her father) died while she was young. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly canon)

While Donna only has one voice line in the game (and it's sad), Angie talks a fair bit. Angie seems to disapprove of the other Lords, or at the very least enjoys mocking them, as well as enjoys watching them fight with each other. As Angie is connected to Donna, and Donna has some level of control over her, one can assume that the two have similar (if not the same) opinions. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly Canon)

Donna was adopted by Mother Miranda as an adult. It's unclear exactly how old Donna was, or what exactly Miranda did as her "mother", just that Donna was excited about it. (1st Tier: Canon)

Other Relevant Information:

Heisenberg refers to the other Lords as his siblings a minimum of 1 time. Similarly to Alcina, however, he openly insults them and seems to hate them. He just, you know, hates Mother Miranda the most. (1st Tier: Canon)

Mother Miranda does not actually give a shit about the four Lords, intended for them to die before the ceremony, and has been manipulating them for her own gain this entire time. Her notes and dialogue make it clear that she only cares about getting Eva back. Somehow mother of the year and worst mother ever. At the same time. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly Canon)

It's unclear who treats Alcina "like a sister" to the other Lords. Were there cut lines of dialogue that cemented the idea of them being a "family"? Did Miranda call them a "family" as part of pretending she cared about them? I've done my best to dig around, but there's very little in game that treats them as a family of any sort.

As each Lord ruled their own section of the region, they don't have any mentions of interacting with each other outside of meetings with Mother Miranda. None of the notes for any Lord (and their relevant experiments) mention what the others are doing. In game, their environments are very separate, very well divided, though this is likely as much for gameplay as it is for story.

Conclusion:

I do not not believe there is enough in game evidence to suggest that Alcina and Donna consider themselves to be siblings. There's the possibility for a large age gap, Alcina was a fair bit older than Donna when she met Miranda, Donna is a social recluse whose closest bonds were with dead blood relatives and dolls, Alcina openly dislikes (if not hates) the other Lords, they seemingly lived very separate and distanced lives, and Mother Miranda does not enforce the idea of "family". Furthermore, the sheer contrast between how Alcina interacts with/speaks of the other Lords compared to how she interacts with/speaks of her daughters says a lot about her feelings. Even if Heisenberg takes the brunt of her anger, Alcina never once says anything remotely positive about anyone other than Miranda and her daughters.

As Alcina/Bela and Donna are not blood-relatives, the definition of what would count as "incest" does vary depending on who you ask. Personally, I do count non-blood relations as potentially incestuous. For example: Alcina "dating" one of her daughters would be incest, regardless of the fact that she's a mutated human and her daughters are weird swarms of flies.

Now, I do understand how popular the idea of the four Lords being a real, chaotic but still close family is. And as I mentioned above, it's totally valid to not like the Bela///Donna ship, whether it's because you think they're family or some other reason. I don't personally see them that way, even in my definitely-not-canon stories.

Do I personally ship Bela///Donna? Nope. Have I liked art for the ship? Admittedly yes, even if I thought some of it was, like, maiden x Bela because Donna didn't have her veil and I'm a DUMBASS who doesn't always remember to read tags. Would I ever write for it? Yeah, probably, assuming I didn't miss anything in game/that I don't eventually change my mind.

they’re born to a mother who comes from a long line of liyuen (sp?) confessors** (shout out @  legend of the seeker for being one of my favorite shows growing up!!! i’ve taken creative liberty here to tweak the caveats of the power to be more of what i like lol) and a father who was the heir of a powerful snezhnayan mercantile family

they’re on the run from their father, who has banded together with other victims of confession and seeks to destroy all confessors after the death of their mother

they eventually wind up in monstadt and have been able to go into hiding disguised as a boy (yes this is a broke and tired trope but i was really fond of it growing up as a heavily closeted enby)

they have passable survival skills as they’ve been baring the wilderness by themself for a while, they’re fairly adept at cooking and hunting with a bow

after seeing the dawn winery recruitment notice for help with pests around the vineyard, they decided to apply as help in hopes of having an income so they can start living a somewhat normal life again with a home to call their own (living outside gets to be pretty exhausting and they also have the misfortune of being a mosquito magnet lol)

they soon become friends with other staff at the winery

diluc cares about his staff a lot and, upon learning that they don’t have a home, offer them one of the many rooms in the manor

Stuff Happens: they eventually learn about diluc’s status as the darknight hero and his beef with the fatui/abyss order, diluc eventually learns about their status as a fugitive and a confessor, they kick some major ass together and bond over shared trauma or something idk haven’t quite figured that out yet

i was reading xiao’s story on the wiki last night and was *eyes emoji* at his last story about being saved by music, which was probably venti, but i can’t help but turn it into OC fodder

they’re pretty basic i guess, hired help at wangshu inn who can do a little bit of everything

they have abusive parents so they ran way from home at a young age

they joined the musical equivalent of the guhua clan after leaving home, something something about their instruments being infused with yang energy as most of their members have an abundance of yang energy (similar to chongyun). their chosen instrument is the flute

since moving to the inn, they practice their flute on the secluded rooftop pretty regularly to prepare for performances that are occasionally held to entertain guests

it doesn’t take long for xiao to find himself inexplicably drawn to their music and yang energy. they’ve felt that they’re being watched for a while and questioned verr goldet about it, who told them to bring almond tofu with them every time they play

it takes a while but xiao eventually appears to them and they peaceably share their time together lost in music

they’re a bit of a chatterbox and don’t do much to suppress their yang energy so they’ll carry on a whole conversation by themself during breaks between playing their flute with xiao as a begrudging listener

slowly but surely they become one of the few humans that xiao can tolerate and the one human that he actually likes

after they’ve developed to the point where xiao is actively engaging them in conversations and seeking them out to play for him when he feels overwhelmed by the darkness, it doesn’t take long for the two of them to bond even further ;) (albeit their relationship moves at a snail’s pace because xiao is bad at feelings lol)

So I’ve gotten in trouble for daring to mention the N word when asking about a black girl who commanded her white sub to call her by the N word that ends with the letter A. which is a variant of the one that ends with er. Here is the vidio with a Black girl tickling a White Girl as her lee. She was basicly upset wit the White girl. Now the black girl treated the N word like it’s some kind of badge of honor and wanted the White girl to call her that. Apparently I’m atacked for trying to even dare  say the word. But with the info I have atleast provided you all, with while slur can be an insult it’s usualy running a word together. The Origanal term meant Dark Skinned. Nothing degrading there, the more infamous one came from the portigese and spanish and apparently became more used instead as a means of respect....I don’t know who they were trying to respect because obviosly no one feels respected being called that, even though it literaly just means the same thing. Guess I will have to look deeper into the history of this. Because so far now, We got the classic neatral which I think we need to just need to push for making it neutral, because I feel it’s only an insult because it became bastardized over time which is the second more commonly recongised reaction, then there’s being an honory black where only blacks get to use it and your only allowed to use it if your given the blessing of the black community. That’s like me saying you can’t call me white because of what the Barbary pirates did. Ok it’s more understandable with the word slave I guess because that’s literaly a slur for Slav who used to be slaves to the Ottomons and other people once upon a time and before that term became world wide there was other words for a slave. Slasve is a very modern term and meant different things in history and so there are even translations that even kind of miss us the word. Trying understand what people meant when making the recordings helps us to retranslate what they truely meant. and then you got the 4th use of the N word which apparently has the word promoted to a master role?

So how does the N word work as a neutral term for Blacks, an insult one instance, a friend or equal the next instance and master and superior in the next?! How can I call you a master with an insult or Insult you with a compliment? and then don’t get me started on the new white rule that whites can’t even utter the word from their lips even if they aren’t calling anyone or referring to anyone by the word.... Just Grade stupidity right there. I understand it has it’s awful history and I’m not trying to make light of it, rather I simply want to just de bastardized a word that was once common and once had no insulting meaning. If you remove the sting of a word it no longer has power over you. Now it seems it’s become an entitled word. You know what I call it? I confusing word! There is literally no other word that bounces back and forth between insult and compliment and neutral, and permitted and tabooed without warning or control than the N word/ The N word is utterly chaotic and disruptive and it’s being used to create even more division now not simply as an insult but as a taboo word! There are alot of taboo words but you literally have one right here that is upsetting to not only culture but even language itself! 

You know what I think? 2 wrongs don’t make a right and a word that only one race can use and just easily change it’s meaning like that is not justified. It doesn’t heal the wounds of the past. I hate that I am having to address this word again, just one post is all I should ever have to post and I have a right to make such posts. I have a right to address the issue.

So why am I talking about it again? Well since I was accused of using a slur in the other post rather than continue to deny it I recalled what a slur is supposed to be in the first place. That’s why I went on Google and posted the definition in this post. As you can see the term slur while can be involved in insulting someone it seems to be more involved with words mashing together or being said wrong. I won’t bother saying the original word and it’s many different slurred terms, I’ll just mention that you got versions that end in O, er and a. Now given that the word technical has been said differently over time and there’s both not only a negative slur but even a slur that’s treated more positively it’ technically is a slurr. So yeah I guess by that Logic I still used a Slur. fine caught me red handed. HOWEVER. What makes the word evil is when it’s used as an insult and I didn’t. However Telling me I can’t even adress the issue  behind the word that I can’t even say neutrally IS JUST AS EVIL Because 2 wrongs don’t make a right. Here I am trying to resolve a problem and people are atacking me for daring to use the word. Well a broken clock can ring once or twice correctly a day but just because you could argue that I was using a slur doesn’t make you right about me. Because I think it would of made more since to atack me for using the word to insult someone. However I didn’t use the word to refer to anyone let alone black people in general. I was talking about a black girl but she  was calling herself that AND WANTING A WHITE GIRL TO CALL HER THAT. Yet I didn’t call her that but I did repeat what she said. That’s not the same thing though. Now if Anyone of the Black community was in fact insulted by that post if you saw it, then I’m SORRY IF IT PUT A BAD TASTE in your mouth but please know I wasn’t trying to put anyone down. I was just curios about the Black girl’s use of the word. Her use of the word confuses me and I think it helps fix the problem to address it and negotiate about it rather than lay down some segregationally rule. Because that rule is Hypocritical and it will domino effect into something as evil as what happened in the past. You can’t right a wrong with another wrong and ignorance and taboos don’t fix anything. So I don’t apologies for speaking my mind but I do want people to know I do care about your feelings but sometimes I can’t make promises. and it’s not fair to me if I can’t express my own concerns and curiosity because I have to worry about walking on egg shells. 

To be honest I didn’t even like addressing the word in that post but I’m not going to delete it either. That would seem like surrendering to a stereotype of who I am and what haters want to make of me plus it would seem cowardly. I made my bed and so I will sleep in it. I knew the point I was trying to make, and I knew I didn’t mean no ill intent. Plus if I get rid of it I have nothing to show myself why stuff happened in the first place. So I will be keeping that post around, both because people actually like it looks like and for me it’s a teaching platform. Someone tried to trip me up and I’ve made mistakes of erasing posts before and it never helps in big arguments. So deleting posts won’t solve anything if you know for a fact what you meant. If anything the hater’s arguments actually kind of help this case even more and only prove just how big a deal this actually is. It also seems to teach me just because people attack you doesn’t mean you throw in the towel, doesn’t mean you just get mad and scream back at them either. I mean I’m still expressing my emotion on the issue but I’m also bothering to looks stuff up so I can reproach the argument. The thing is their arguement is the word is a slur so I shouldn’t say it. No that’s a terrible excuse, because slurr just means to say a word wrong and say it as a different word. So now I’m challenging not even the meaning of the N word but the meaning of the Word Slur. I suppose you could argue that a slur is a word used to speak negativly of a a person but that’s only if you are doing that directly. In otherwords it would directly mean an direct insult. But when I used it I wasn’t being direct so it doesn’t count. So If I was talking about the term cracker well I’m intentionally referring to whites as such just on how they are refered to as such by certain people. But if I’m not using it directly as the word for them and not contently calling them that, then I’m not using a direct insult. A controversial word maybe but not a direct insult. and since  Cracker isn’t a miss pronunciation of another word, it’s not a slur in that since either. The original N word is not a slur because it’s not misspronounced it simply has bad press. and until it becomes more excepted as neutral again I will keep to my promise that I will not be using it again in future posts..if I can help it. Now Gigmig technical is a slur since it’s mispronounced version of Giggle Milkee as I merged the 2 words together. However Gigmig may be a slur but it’s not controversal. hehe well I mean the topic is controversial to hates I suppose but not the the Gigmigs themselves. To be honest though I invented the term Giggle Milkee trying to come up with terms for White lee or ticklish White. It doesn’t have to emply to slave, however most of the Giggle Milkees in my band don’t seem to mind the idea of being tickle slaves themselves. Infact it’s rather popular to them. But I do understand not all people are big about that, So that’s why Gigmig actualy has a neutral meaning, by default it means ticklish white person or White lee tickled by other races. It can be used for slaves but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s inherently more neutral in that it can involve concential tickling as well as concential, it can be used towards a perceaved equal or towards someone seen as property. However I don’t see it ever being used to describe a superior in any form. Giggle Milkees are never masters, only equals or less. What do you expect their lees when is the lee ever the one in control? when your the one being tickled your either putting your trust in the tickler or your at their mercy.

Anyways guys I hope to never have to address the N word again I realy hate that topic, but I’m also stubborn ;p and not  ashamed. But I would appreciate other people tackling this issue more from my perspective and helping in the cause to weaken the the power the N word has so all sides can be free. As for me I just want to move on and have fun with my fellow Gigmigs and fun with future grabber friends or future Grabber masters~ Also to would be Grabbers I am trying to find a word for ticklers of whites who are white. Grabbers technically emply you capture people and that’s the only thing bothering me realy. Some suggest new term words for diverse ticklers who tickle whites or anything involving this them would be appreciated. Or just let me know if your ok with the term Grabber and how it comes to be used according to lore and what other additional Alternatives you would suggest being used along with the term Grabber or in it’s stead. I got a few ideals myself for giggle Milkees and grabbers but I’ll save those for another post. I’m getting tired this note is to long as is and I just to move on.

I’ve certainly talked to death about the flattening of Eddie in the movies and how it makes him out to be a rather unpleasant character most of the time (not entirely, he does have some genuinely nice actions) but I need to talk about the flattening of the entire Losers Club as a unit. By ‘flattening’ I mean that if you view a character and their relationships as a cake, it’s like someone opened a cake box and inside there were just crumbs and a tiny slither of cake. Sure, you got a mouthful of cake, but it’s barely even enough to taste and it’s your birthday, man. Now this could just be me, but in the movies, aside from the few tender and lovely moments that we get where they’re just playing there...seems to be very little chemistry between any of them. Instead of a group of close friends fighting a trouble they’re all connected with because of both morality AND their love for each other, they seem to be just a bunch of people that have to work together and some happen to have been ‘friends’. I’m going mostly based on chapter 1 as well, because chapter 2 really tries to retcon this and give them more time but at this point it feels...weird to think of those things happening ‘when we didn’t see’ because they don’t fit chapter 1′s flow or timeline properly. 

Ben and Bev have the best connection out of everyone in the group. They actually have moments together, romantically inclined but sweet. You can see why the two of them would be friends, how they fit together. This version of Bev is also more active in the ‘liking’ and soft bantering with Ben so it works better. I wish everyone else had such connections. Even the Richie and Eddie hammock scene, although it ends sweet, has the flaw of it being the result of uncharacteristic genuine fighting and frustration. Like all those two do is fight fight fight which is NOT sweet or romantic so I can fully see why people don’t ship this Reddie if they’ve only seen the movies. Plus it’s chapter 2 so... Bill is supposed to be the leader of the group that has a natural magnetism. Everyone likes him and he likes everyone and deeply cares for them to the point of being guilty that they’d follow him so willingly. We get a tiny bit of that but a lot of the time it kind of seems like they only want to help because of their own trauma or that he made them feel guilty. I mean, they actually had him and Richie get into a physical fight when these two are so close. Richie really didn’t have any reason to come back, It or no It, because he never even had his own encounter with It, he only did around them, that’s a good incentive to stay away. They literally have no connection with Bill other than ‘we know him and we feel sorry for him, I guess’. 

Richie, despite being ‘the funny one’, never/hardly ever gets a laugh from his friends. Go back, have a look. Most of the time they just look disgusted or frustrated. You can argue that this is the reaction Richie wants, but he doesn’t look happy about the result either. The Losers are supposed to find him actually funny most of the time and weirdly charming. The ‘beep, beep Richie’ joke that is almost completely omitted and in ch1 I can’t remember anyone but Pennywise saying it...was because they did sometimes think he went too far. But not all of the time. If you see Richie as having ADHD and even if you don’t, having his ‘friends’ react this way all the time to his best efforts would destroy him. He might still hang around so as to not be alone, but he’d be deeply unhappy. He’d feel like an outcast in his group. I don’t blame them for reacting this way in the movies because in context most of Richie’s ‘jokes’ are bad taste and/or sexual in nature which is super awkward. But it still seems like Richie is an outsider that isn’t genuinely liked and that’s awful. Eddie, despite his passion and his willingness to take care of Ben, is always high strung. He talks about nothing but illness and what people are doing wrong. He’s angry and grumpy a lot. When he’s being playful, he’s also being annoying. The clubhouse scene where we see him break the toy he’s literally being told not to mess with just to have another Richie and Eddie fight scene is just...urgh. Again, it seems like most of the time they’re actually annoyed by him so it’s weird that they wax poetic like they saw him as ‘just looking out for them’ when really they acted more like he was nagging or not even there most of the time. Bev is seen as cool by everyone it seems, which is pretty much on point. Even those who don’t crush on her seem to think she’s pretty special. It’s almost weird giving everything else that this is something that was gotten right. She’s sweet, she’s feisty, intelligent and pragmatic as well as emotional. It makes sense that they’d trust her and want to be friends with her. Hell, this Bev should have been the leader.  Mike and Stan...ha, why are they here? They really come off as extra pieces, barely drawn in by having It experiences or being bullied. They so much look like they don’t even want to be there. Especially Stan who is part of the original group of friends, so it’s weird that he’s so stale around them. It’s so awkward and nasty seeing them have basically no connection with anyone else aside from just kind of being there. No wonder I see fanart that interpret one or both as moody and not actually wanting to be there, this is how they come off.  Ben seems to just be there for Bev and because they showed interest in him. I’d like to have seen him having more actual fun with them as well, because again they all are supposed to genuinely like him...not just see him as some poor fat kid they had to save who kind of knew some cool stuff about It. Like Ben does some genuinely incredible things we never got to see. And no, the shoehorned in ‘he built them a clubhouse’ in ch2 came too little too late. Since their relationships are so flat, it’s not surprising then (though it is maddening) that they move on so quickly from Stan and Eddie’s deaths and don’t really seem to mourn. Why would they? They’re just a group of people bound together by It and that’s all, where a few of them had romantic feelings for one another so liked that other person a lot.  Once more, I’m aware not everyone can read the book but I do implore people to at least like...read the wiki of the events? See if people have posted bits of their actual actions and feelings for each other? Ask people about it? We deserve more than these flat relationships which don’t make sense. We deserve the actual loving and deep bond they all have.

TO WARN YOU ALL ABOUT KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN. 

If you’re looking to get into it, I want to tell you a few things. 

It was originally meant to be a gag manga, but its popularity was in decline so they turned it into a shounen manga.

I’m saying this because if you’ve searched up the main character, Tsunayoshi Sawada, you’ve seen this

But when you actually got into the series, you saw this: 

That’s the beginning, the original gag part of the manga where Tsuna is incredibly annoying and made everyone want to throw bricks at him. 

I believe that in the anime, the gag goes on for about twenty episodes. In the manga, it goes on for sixty-two chapters. 

I’m saying this because the original gag part is really annoying, boring, and slow. It’s not funny and it was a pain for me to go through when I started reading it. Now that you know when the serious shounen stuff starts, you can skip the original gag and get straight to the good stuff. 

The only issue you’ll have with skipping it is you won’t know anything about the characters and their abilities. I don’t know anyone who skipped it so I can’t say if you’ll be able to figure it out quickly or if it’ll take some time.

IF you do skip it, DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, look at ANYTHING on the Katekyo Hitman Reborn wiki pages. You WILL get spoiled. Instead, I’ll give you a summary of each character from the wiki pages. 

TSUNAYOSHI SAWADA - The main character

Tsuna is called “No Good Tsuna” by his classmates because of his poor grades, bad luck, wimpy attitude, and lack of athleticism. He easily admits these things about himself, lacking self-confidence and always doubting himself and quitting easily. 

Tsuna is also the tenth successor to the Vongola, a powerful and influential family in the mafia. His ability is Dying Will Mode and can only be activated by the Dying Will Bullet. He is trained to become the tenth boss by the best hitman in the Vongola family, Reborn.

Dying Will Mode: His body’s limiters are removed and he becomes stronger. This happens because when he is shot by the Dying Will Bullet, he is put in a life-or-death situation and he must fulfill his dying will. 

Tsunayoshi Sawada attends Namimori Middle School.

REBORN - Main

Reborn is the best hitman in the mafia. He helps Tsuna train to become the tenth boss of the Vongola. He is confident and unpredictable. He enjoys teasing his students and pulling pranks on them. Readers will find that he also enjoys cosplaying as he is often seen with different outfits.

HAYATO GOKUDERA - Main

Hayato is the right-hand man of Tsuna and he takes his role very seriously. He portrays himself as a delinquent but contrary to his image, he actually does very well in school. He has a short temper and is very irritable towards everyone except Reborn and Tsuna.

He uses dynamites and traps as his weapons and fights in enclosed spaces and at mid-range. He is also a very intelligent fighter.

Hayato Gokudera attends Namimori Middle School.

TAKESHI YAMAMOTO - Main

Usually called “Yamamoto,” he is friendly and naive, thinking that being part of the Vongola is simply a game that they are playing for fun. He is willing to make sacrifices for things that are important to him. He loves baseball and is just about as dumb as Tsuna. 

Reborn gives him a bat that is actually a sword as a weapon.

Takeshi Yamamoto attends Namimori Middle School.

LAMBO - Main

Lambo is a five-year-old hitman who came to Japan to kill Reborn. He is a whiny and spoiled brat who has to be babysat by Tsuna’s friends and family. He is confident in himself and his abilities but cries over little things. 

Whenever he is in trouble, he will use the 10-Year Bazooka, which is a bazooka that brings the version of himself from ten years in the future to the present and the five year old Lambo will disappear for five minutes. After five minutes, the future Lambo will return to the future and the five year old Lambo will return to the present. 

KYOUYA HIBARI - Main 

Kyouya Hibari is the leader of the Namimori Middle Disciplinary Committee, which is actually a group of delinquents. Kyouya enforces discipline in the school with his own methods, using his authority to assault people who get on his nerves.

Kyouya is cold and scary, having no care for the well-being of others. He will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He hates crowds and prefers to be alone, often hanging out alone at the school roof.

He has an extreme loyalty to his school, punishing anyone who breaks the rules, even if they don’t attend Namimori. He has the school’s anthem set as his ringtone. 

He wields tonfas as his weapons. He has full confidence in his fighting ability and dives straight into fights without thinking.  He is the strongest at Namimori. 

Kyouya Hibari attends Namimori Middle School.

RYOUHEI SASAGAWA - Main

Ryouhei loves boxing and lives life to the extreme. He is the captain of the boxing club and has a great passion for it. Ryouhei has a tendency to rush into fights without doing a fully analysis due to his enthusiasm. He has a short memory so he often forgets important details. He is always looking to fight new opponents and learn to improve himself. 

He is loyal to his friends, as he will protect his friends without thinking twice about the danger he is putting himself in. He has a soft spot for women and children.

Ryouhei utilizes boxing to fight.

Ryouhei Sasagawa attends Namimori Middle School.

FUUTA DE LA STELLA - Supporting 

Fuuta has the ability to determine rankings of people in any kind of category. He has a wide range of knowledge which makes him invaluable to the mafia. He becomes friends with Tsuna.

DINO CAVALLONE - Supporting 

Dino is the leader of the Cavallone family which are allied with the Vongola. He has great leadership and combat skills.

Reborn trained him so he could become the boss of the Cavallone. Dino is devoted to his family (mafia family) but it backfires as he can no longer fight without the members of the family watching him. 

He uses a bullwhip and his pet turtle, Enzio as his weapons. 

DOCTOR SHAMAL - Supporting 

Doctor Shamal is a skilled doctor. He is a womanizer and hits on every woman he sees. Due to his obsession with women, he refuses to treat men with injuries and will only treat women. Occasionally, he treats men out of sympathy. He has 666 disease but none of them have killed him because the diseases negate each other. 

He is called “Trident Shamal” because he is an incredibly skilled assassin. He uses Trident Mosquitoes as his weapon. He can inflict illnesses or cancel illnesses with the mosquitoes. 

BIANCHI - Supporting 

Bianchi is a freelance assassin from Italy and the older half-sister of Hayato Gokudera. She is passionate when it comes to love, to the point where she can become violent. Aside from that, she is generally a kind person. 

Her ability is Poison Cooking. Anything that she cooks or touches will be poisoned and uses this to incapacitate her opponents. When she snaps her fingers, the poisoned food will explode. Tsuna tried to avoid eating her food because he is the only one who knows it is poisoned. 

Bianchi developed this ability when she was a teen. She would cook food for Hayato but the food was so bad that it would give him horrible stomach pains or make him vomit. Eventually, it became Poison Cooking. Hayato can no longer look at Bianchi without having severe stomach pain, vomiting, or passing out because when he looks at her, he remembers to horrible food that she forced him to eat. 

KYOKO SASAGAWA - Supporting 

Kyoko is the younger sister of Ryouhei Sasagawa and the love interest of Tsuna. She is care free and doesn’t question the odd things that occur around her as she is also somewhat of an air-head. She is a kind and caring girl and rarely gets angry. 

Like Yamamoto, she thinks that being part of the Vongola is a game that they are playing. 

Kyoko attends Namimori Middle School.

HARU MIURA - Supporting 

Haru is an upbeat, enthusiastic, and care free girl. Although she has a crush of Tsuna, she is not the love interest. Unlike Kyoko and Yamamoto, she knows that the Vongola are real and aims to become the wife of the future boss, Tsuna. 

I-PIN - Supporting

I-Pin is an assassin from Hong Kong who came to Japan to assassinate someone. She is energetic and friendly with everyone but will often get into fights with Lambo. She is also infatuated with Kyoya Hibari because he resembles her master. 

Gyoza-Kempo and Pinzu-Timed Super Explosion are her abilties. Gyoza-Kempo is an attack that combines her martial arts with the strong scent of garlic from gyoza dymplings. This attack contains the essence of five-million gyoza which is enough to kill a human. 

Pinzu-Timed Super Explosion is an ability where, when activated, she becomes a human bomb. A count down begins and the process of the count down can be seen on her forehead.

TLDR: If you’re watching the anime, skip the first twenty episodes if you don’t like bad gag comedy. If you’re reading the manga, skip the first sixty-two chapters. If you want to educate yourself about the characters, you can read the character summaries I’ve made above.

How I programme myself to fight my executive dysfuntion and try and do things or:

If you’re like me and have horrible executive functioning skills thanks to stuff like ADHD and mental illness, you’ve probably heard of micromanagement and you’ve also possibly been told to try and just write basic instructional steps to do things like go shower, make breakfast, do your homework. And you’ve possibly tried it all but it just didn’t work for you.

Well, this is basically going to be me explaining the method I’ve found / semi created for myself with my counsellor and learning diversity team that’s been the first thing to actually get me to do things, whether or not it’ll do the same for you I can’t promise, but give it a shot if you want.

If you’ve not had a lot of experience with programming before, that doesn’t mean you can’t programme yourself. You don’t need to learn a new programming language, because the computer you’re programming is you, and you already speak your language.

There are key features however of general programming syntax and methods that is what, for me, makes programming planning useful, and they are as follows:

Speaking to yourself like you would to a computer (or: assume nothing and leave no gaps)

So whilst you’re not speaking a different language, and the computer is yourself, a key part of programming computers is that they don’t know anything, and they can’t assume anything.

If you want a computer to do something, you can’t just tell it to do it, you have to tell it every little step involved in doing it, and this is where the micromanaging super detailed instructions come in.

I find that just thinking that I’m programming a computer that has 0 clue of anything outside of the instructions (the programming plan) it forces me into actually breaking down everything, further than I do when I’ve just told myself to break down the steps and write them down normally. Part of it is probably that when you’re planning things normally it can feel somewhat embarrassing to write things like “stand up” “walk downstairs” “walk into kitchen” “open fridge” “take water jug out from fridge” etc etc just to get some water, but a computer programme doesn’t care, a computer programme needs that detail to prevent mistakes.

And especially for executive functioning this is one of the most important things in actually..... doing things, because our brains can be just like the programmed computer, assuming things and filling in gaps between steps may be something that my brain is technically supposed to do but unfortunately it doesn’t and it leads to overwhelm, by treating it like a computer programme I’m removing the need to make assumptions.

Smaller Events / Functions:

These are basically defining different “smaller” tasks, you can write them out by themselves and then later, if you’re writing a bigger programming plan, just drop their name in to let yourself know that it’s that task.

It stops the bigger programming plans from getting too long and overwhelming and allows you to take a modular approach and reuse the same mini functions for tasks that are involved in multiple things.

Personally the main things I’ve broken into their own independent events are key things like: Starting to do something and taking a break, and then I link them into the main big event... which speaking of the main big event:

Once you’ve got all your smaller tasks, there’s obviously going to be the actual difficult bigger things, like doing your maths homework. This is where you get to reference all your smaller events, but also have your stuff that’s specific to what you’re trying to do, stuff that doesn’t really need to have a smaller event because it’s only specific to this one thing and nothing else...

“if”, “and", "but", and "or"

Conjunction junction, what’s your function?

Ifs, and I guess and but and ors (though I just wanted to reference conjunction junction) are a pretty big part of prgramming in general, but they’re extra helpful when you’re programming yourself because: We’re not computers, we’re humans, but even computers sometimes encounter errors, and you need to programme in what to do in case of an error.

Now you can’t predict every little thing that’s going to happen, but if you struggle with knowing what to do if you have a few general If phrases like “If you get stuck” or “If you feel tired” and then within those have one or two options (maybe with some more ifs, you can nest as many ifs within eachother as you want, whatever works best for you) for how to proceed.

This part is of course optional, and also possibly not recommended... it depends how you work, what’s easiest for you, and if just writing you programming plan in plain text works for you or not.

I used scratchblocks  to make my aesthetic scratchy programming plan thing, and it helps to visualise it, especially if you’re not already used to programming actual computers... As an example here’s my getting started on work function:

It takes a bit of getting used to to get around the syntax of it, but scratchblocks automatically updates the preview of the code whilst you’re typing, which is helpful, and the bits that are like :: word #000 are how I’m definining whether it’s the start (hat) or the end (cap, which I didnt use in this one) and what colour I want it to be (which is of course, optional), a more in depth, but still easy to understand, guide of the syntax is available here: https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Block_Plugin/Syntax but the best way to learn would be to just play around with it yourself, once you get the hang of it it’s somewhat intuitive.
