Bourbon how I see it

I love bourbon. I have always been a wiskey man( Crown Royal was my drink of choice in college) but as the years I have gone by, I have gravitated towards bourbon. This blog will be my opportunity to share the bourbon I drink, and the adventures I have hunting bourbon in the great state of Georgia.

Also, I want to review, rank and review bourbon a little differently. I read all the big bourbon blogs and keep up with the experts and I find myself agreeing with many of them, but one thing really annoys me. I hate when bourbon reviews over describe what they are tasting. Trust me I am familur with flavor wheels, and the proper way to taste bourbon including the Kentucky Chew, but when reviewers start talking about "fresh tilled earth" and "salted caramel popcorn", I am done. It's too much. I get it, some times bourbon is earthy, sweet, spicy, whatever, but who knows the difference in taste between earthy and "fresh tilled earth" ?

Secondly, I would like to discuss other topics including breaking some rules and drinking bourbon the way you want to drink it, not the way the experts advise. You know what, I like ice in all my bourbon, all of it including the Pappy's and Parker's that I have had. However, I order my bourbon on a large rock almost always, however when I get something special I do order it neat, and then ask for a rock, or ice on the side. I don't care, I will throw an ice cube in my Parker hearitage let it melt a little and cool the bourbon plus open it up, and then fish it out with a spoon right at the bar and throw the ice on the floor in the bar tenders face. When you are paying $30, $50, $75 a pour, I think you can do pretty much whatever you like and the good bartenders agree that you should drink it the way you enjoy it.

Also, just a few things to note about my blog. I live in Georgia. One of the better bourbon hunting states because the state does not own the liquor stores. It's no Kentucky or Colorado, but I have had some great finds in Ga.

Second, I suck at writing. I am just terrible and this blog is something I am doing because I love bourbon, but also because this really puts me out of my comfort zone. At work I am fortunate to have an administrative assistant who proofreads all my important documents and emails, unfortunately I can't get her to proofread my bourbon blog.

Third, I want to discuss hype, price gouging and topics like cup selection. Spoiler alert, I'm not a fan of the Glencairn.
