Francis found Lovino in his room, sitting on the bed facing the wall. The room was silent save for sounds of Francis’ footsteps making its way across the room. He sat down next to the Italian, and took his hand squeezing it tight, trying to pretend it didn’t bother him when the other did nothing to respond. 

“I hate when you’re like this…”

There was the response he was looking for. Lovino jerked his hand away, leaning away from Francis, but the Frenchman would have none of that. He placed his hands on Lovino’s cheeks, cupping them securely, while forcing the other to face and look at him.

“I love you… and do you want to know why? You’re perfect for me…for me Lovino, not for anyone else. That’s why you’re mine and I’m yours, and you belong to no one else. I’d be nothing without you, because you make me happy. And you care…you hide it under all that grumpy nonsense, but you care. And I know you love me too….”

Wed Me

“Lovino…what if we had gotten married?”

“What if I had…gotten the nerve and proposed to you the week before like I planned?”

“I wanted to be with you forever, Lovino. We could have adopted, and had two cats, and a dog. I could have got up every morning with you by my side. T-That’s all I would have wanted.” Francis through the tears in his eyes, gently touching the cold gravestone, the name, Lovino Vargas inscribed in the stone. “So what do you say? Will you marry me?”
