Wait. What?  

Your head snaps up so fast it's a miracle it didn't pop off your neck and roll away.  

You blink. You must have misheard.  

"Y/N and Jay," Professor Kim repeats as if she could read your confused expression, voice too nonchalant for the life-wrecking news she's about to deliver: "You two are partners."  

The words hit you like a bus. No, not even. The words hit you like a bus driven by a T-Rex that flips over, crashes into a building, and explodes into a million ashy pieces. And there you are—standing right in the middle of the wreckage, somehow still alive to suffer through every second of it—while Jay, smug as ever, whips around in his seat to face you.  

And of course, there it is: that look of his that screams 'This is going to be so much fun for me, and so much pain for you.' 

"Guess we're parents now, Y/N!" Jay chimes, his voice dripping with so much sarcastic enthusiasm you swear he just got handed an Oscar for Most Annoying Human. If that tone were a substance, you'd bottle it up and use it as insect repellent. On him. Repeatedly.  

You blink at him, you're sure—you're praying—this has to be some elaborate prank. Maybe Jay bribed Professor Kim with his rare attempt at turning in an assignment on time just to mess with you. Or maybe the universe just hates you and this is your karma for stealing your roommate's last ramen packet that one time a year ago.  

But no, Professor Kim keeps rattling off other pairs like it's business as usual, as if your entire academic career and sanity isn't currently being flushed down a metaphorical toilet, while you sit there, paralyzed, your brain rapidly melting into a useless puddle from the sheer thought of being paired with him.  

"What's wrong, Y/N?" Jay teases as he leans over the back of his chair towards you. "You don't want to play house with me?"  

You narrow your eyes at him, mentally wielding your imaginary bug spray like it's a holy weapon. "I don’t," you reply flatly. "In fact, I’d rather perform open-heart surgery on myself with a plastic spoon than co-parent with you." 

Jay’s eyes light up as his hand goes to his heart. "Aw, you really know how to make a guy feel special. This is why I like our little relationship, you know?" 

"Relationship?" You scoff loud enough to make the people sitting three rows behind you to glance in your direction. "The only thing we have in common is a shared oxygen supply." 

"See, that’s the spirit," he says, turning back to face the front like he didn't just ruin your life. And somehow, that pisses you off even more. Is it his voice? His stupidly perfect hair? The fact that he breathes in your general direction? At this point, he could literally sneeze, and it would still feel like a personal attack.

Is it too late to switch majors? Or schools? Maybe even countries? Surely, restarting your entire college career as a super senior would be better than spending the next six weeks parenting with Jay. Jay Park, who has probably never held anything more fragile than a Red Solo Cup.

a/n: verryy long chapter so i hope you enjoy!

THE bleachers are filled with students, lots of familiar faces but also a lot of unfamiliar faces. You glance over to the boys team, they were also scanning the crowd, some occasionally waving when they spot someone they recognise.

“Y/n! Chaehyunnie!” You hear the voices of Ningning and Isa call out. They’re waving bright banners with “Go Girls!” written on them.

Chaehyun and you wave at the girls, and they hold up the banner above their heads.

“Haven’t seen it this crowded since freshman year.” Chaewon tells the team, “Which means we have to win.”

“Ayy come on Chae, it’s not that big of a deal.” Liz laughs, giving her a pat on the shoulder.

“I was trying to be motivational.” Chaewon sighs, “Guess it didn’t work that well.”

The team bursts out in laughter, a few girls telling Chaewon they thought it was very inspiring.

The laughter of the girls causes the boys to look up. Nicholas catches sight of you, one hand on Rei’s shoulder, laughing at your team captain.

“Earth to Nicholas?” Ej calls out, and Nicholas snaps back to reality. The other boys have started warming up somewhere else, he didn’t even notice.

Nicholas can see K and Yuma snickering at him, but he ignores them and quickly jogs over to his team. He needs to get his head in the game, but it is hard to do so when his opponent is his crush.

“Don’t go daydreaming when we’re on the field.” Ni-ki, the center midfielder, comments when Nicholas joins the group circle doing stretches, “Otherwise I won’t pass any balls to you.”

Nicholas turns to Maki, the left wing, who he frequently passes balls to. Maki looks at him with puppy eyes, telepathically pleading for him to pass the ball when playing.

A short whistle sounds from the referee, calling the captains to the center of the field.

When Ej jogs back to the team all eyes are on him. “They take the ball.” He says, earning groans from the team.

“I told you to choose tails.” Taki groans, but he tenses up when he sees Ej glare at him.

Meanwhile Chaewon has also returned to the team. “We take the ball.” Chaewon cheers. “First win of the day, one more to go.”

As the game starts, it is evident that the girls team has improved a lot. Ej was pleasantly surprised by the amount of skill the girls had managed to gain in such a short time.

Nicholas is really trying his best to focus, but the way you play, the way you shout for the ball, the way you play with such passion, it's so attractive to him. He's never felt this way before, but now that he's experiencing it he's sure of it. He likes you.

"Nicho!" He can hear Fuma call out to him, and he snaps back. You had just dribbled past Fuma, and was now heading straight towards Nicholas.

Without hesitation Nicholas starts running towards you, his mind racing on how to steal the ball away from you.

He decides to go for a tackle, but before he knows you're tripping over his feet, falling onto the field. Nicholas doesn't see it, his eyes focused on the ball. Only when he has passed the ball to Ni-ki does he look back.

Nicholas, now kneeling beside you, seems oblivious to the momentary shock. His eyes, wide with realization, darted from the ball back to you, lying there stunned.

A second later, his expression softens, and he quickly reaches down to you with a concerned look on his face.

"I didn’t mean to knock you down like that!" His voice was full of regret as he crouched by your side, his tone soft, almost apologetic. His hand hovered in the air, unsure, like he wasn’t sure if you needed space or help.

You sit up, your body a little heavy because of the collision. The scrape on your arm stung, and your chest felt tight, still recovering from the hit. It wasn't that serious, you realise, as the initial shock of the fall wears off.

"Hey, are you alright?" Nicholas asks, his voice lowered, more careful now. His eyes scan your face, looking for any sign that you were hurt, genuinely worried.

You could see the way he hesitated, like he was holding himself back, unsure whether to reach for you again or to give you a moment. His usual confidence in the game had evaporated, replaced by concern.

"It's fine," You reply, quickly regaining your composure as you lift yourself off the grass. You pat him on the back, telling him not to worry. And before he knows it you're running off towards Rei, who was busy attacking again.

As the game progresses it is clear the boys team is stronger. But for some reason, it didn't bother you that much anymore. It's the first time you're having fun, and the other girls seem to agree.

So, when the whistle signals the end of the game, you, along with Haerin sit down on the ground, exhausted.

"Wasn't this fun?" You pant, looking at the equally exhausted girl next to you. She nods, too tired to process everything.

"There's something even more fun waiting for you." She eventually says in a quiet tone. You almost don't catch it, but as you follow her gaze you realise who she's talking about.

You'd almost forgotten it. The bet.

you are used to it, while it seems lee heeseung has erased you out of his memory.

acting normal, cordial, when you bump each each other in the elevator.

it’s like you never existed, like you never were a chapter in his life, but it’s not like you can do anything about it now.

as corny as it was, you thought he was the one and spend your whole lives together.

you both shared the same dream, to become an idol. thus leading to the two of you auditioning for the same companies and picking one since you both got in.

heeseung and you practiced together in secret.

though he got ahead first, from nearly making it into txt and being picked for iland, heeseung was ready to debut.

on the other hand, you still had to wait a couple of years before hybe would consider debuting a girl group.

so you both agreed to break up in the midst of heeseung leaving to film the survival show.

it hurt, it did, but you spent all the remaining weeks together. a sort of final goodbye dragged out as the both of you didn’t want to let go of your relationship just yet.

it was a weird limbo stage.

the handful of friends who knew of your relationship were informed you two had parted ways while you two stayed glued to the hip in secret.

the morning of your last day with heeseung, you cried in his bathroom while he was still asleep.

you tried not to wake him and let him see you in such a state but he heard you. sliding down on his floor to take you into his arms as you cried.

neither of you talked during your last day together. some whispers of one-word replies every couple of hours but most of the time was solely about being close to the other. basking in each other's touch and presence for one final time.

you knew everything would be different after this survival show.

lee heeseung had everything, he was perfect, he was debut-ready. there was not a single doubt that he wouldn’t win the show and become a beloved idol.

even if there was a sliver of a chance he’d lose, his public debut even as a trainee would garner a fanbase waiting for his debut at another time.

when heeseung inevitably placed fifth overall you were watching in your room. a bittersweet feeling washing over you when you remember this means that it was the official end of you and heeseung. your chapter in his life coming to a close.

the last time heeseung contacts you was two days after the finale of iland aired.

a simple, text wishing you debut soon, that he is going to cut contact due to his dating ban, and needing to focus on his career.

you want to hate heeseung.

to yell at him over the phone and scream in his face about how he can’t just leave you behind like that. say that he can’t just forget about you after everything you’ve been through together.

but the other part of you wants to hope. to beg for him back. whether it meant in the future when you hopefully make your debut and he’s in the clear to date or secretly dating now. 

alas, you congratulate him and say only time will tell.

unfortunately or fortunately, enhypen just so happened to have a comeback at the same time. even promoting at the same music show on the same day. 

when your manager told you that you were set to make a video with an enhypen member you felt sick. there was a one in seven chance it would be heeseung.

though you had no say whether or not you did it.

nobody knew of you and heeseung’s past and it was planned to stay that way.

as you walked up to the shooting spot the air in your lungs slowly disappeared. nearly choking when you saw heeseung standing there watching your group's dance as he went over it in his head.

“hey,” heeseung whispered shyly when you quietly stood next to him.

you offer him a bow, as he was now your senior, not the boy you spent years loving.

it’s too quiet when you finish filming the tiktok challenge. rewatching it with heeseung after taking one final shot and bowing goodbye.

though after you notice the camera for both of your groups' behinds stop rolling and your manager doesn’t whisk you away just yet.

the amount of staff slowly disappears and you are about to follow after when you feel a grip on your wrist.

tugging you back towards himself, heeseung wraps his arms around your waist and holds you close.

“heeseung?” you question, words coming out airy.

“____,” he whispers, nuzzling his head into your hair, “i missed you.”

“you’re going to get us in trouble,” you mutter, though truthfully you just want to melt into his embrace.

“it’s okay,” heeseung’s grip loosens, only to spin you around in his hold. he looks down at your confused face, “i asked for some privacy with you.”

“why?” you whisper, his mere touch after years of yearning making goosebumps arise on your skin.

“i miss you a lot,” his arm rests around your waist. the other cradles your head and pushes it to rest on his chest, “please, i’m finally able to try us again.”

“i’m still on dating ban,” you frown, finally surrendering and hugging your ex-boyfriend back.

“i talked to your manager,” heeseung holds you tightly, “i took care of everything. please give me a chance again.”

it might be three years later, but for you, lee heeseung can wait thousands of years.

Fun fact about me! Genshi Impact has consumed my life in every aspect except financially (thank god) for a good part of the past 2 years, and I have yet to draw anything for it except a few simple sketches on my sketchbook.

Story:

Her name is Solei, she's a cartographer from sumeru? Kinda?? It's a long story.

She's from a family of traveling merchants, and having a baby didn't exactly stop them from traveling across teyvat, so yeah, she was born in Sumeru, and she would go on to receive her vision there eventually by pure chance, but she spent the majority of her early childhood in Lyue and Mondstat.

Her father is fontanian, and her mother's heritage is a slight mystery. She may be the slightest, tiniest bit non-human, but who really cares anyway? The world is vast and mysterious and full of interesting things to learn, she doesn't have time to wonder why not everyone's ears are pointy or why people look at her the way they do.

From the Chasm to Dragonspine to Seirai Iland ( long before the vision hunt decre was ever stated), they went around the world looking for trouble and getting themselves out of every situation by sheer stubbornness. Until their travels brought them to the confines of the sumeru desert.

She grows up to be a femomenal navigator and travel guide. Her maps of teyvat are worth millions of mora, if not more, considering how rarely she actually parts with them. She leaves her family's merchant group to travel with a group of friends through more inhospitable parts of teyvat.

The sandstorm was picking up. They needed to get out. The sun was about to set, they were already hurt, their shielder was... they needed to get out! But the only vision user was knocked out, their archer was barely standing, and she was straining to have a coherent line of thought as is, besides, she wasn't a fighter.

She was barely thinking when her fingers curled around her claymore's handle. Not batting an eye as the storm around her went from scorching sand to freezing cold. She only came to when her sword lodged itself in the dragons eye, freezing it from the inside out. She would be impressed if it wasn't for the blood trickling down her face and the ragged breaths of her friend hanging onto her shoulder and the fact that they needed to get out of here!!

She has her claymore sure, but that was more of a precaution than anything, she was the navigator, she was the one that figured out the right path, she was the one that should have prevented them from ending up in this situation in the first place, bleeding and bruised in the middle of a sandstorm going against a ruined dragon, Archons dam it they needed to get out!

Travelers from all over teyvat might have come across her, with her trusty claymore at her side, a cryo vision hanging in her headband and a distinct lack of travel partners beside her. She can party like an animal and talk anyone's ear off about anything imaginable, but one thing's certain. She travels alone.

Her kit:

She's a 5 star cryo claymore DPS focused on the freeze and shatter reactions. I haven't really thought about the specific of her abilities, but in general:

Her skill is a cryo Aoe that infuses cryo to her normal attacks and raises attack speed (and maybe buffs something else I don't really know)

Her burst is a buffet cryo attack that sends a shockwave from the character every 1.2s that applies cryo and deals damage to nearby enemies for a few seconds (don't know how long)

Her attack effects are based on various navigation equipment, like a compas and a compas-card, specifically.

One of her passive talents would be giving the party a Crit rate% buff if every member of the party is of a different region

The other one would be that she can identify nation specialties in every nation ( but I don't think hoyo would actually release a character that could do that)

like it’d definitely be like one of them was interested first (i’m thinking it’d be jay) and pursue after you with pure intentions and it’ll start off like a court to basically swoon you to become yours

but then all of sudden sunghoon comes in and is like “I want her too” and i feel like sunghoon may bring out a side of jay that is a little more on the morally greyish side that works and complete each other so well since they’re besties and they always know what the other wants

so what happens, sunghoon would then start to pursue you too at the same time and in your mind it’d be like ‘oh my god two guys chasing after me’ when well that is the truth on the surface

however, deep down in their minds it’s way more than just that. rather than simple chasing after you to see who you choose in the end, it’s rather something more darker with the intention of both of them coming into and staying in your life rather than leaving the other one out.

why? well because they both want you and they would never ever deprive the other of what they want.

instead of making you think about who to choose, they would tell you “The more the merrier” on two separate days and two different dates whether it’d be sunghoon or jay who said it first (i have a feeling it’d be sunghoon who says it first)

The table was quite covered with all the schoolwork you needed to cover with him. Leaving your bag open, you made sure to tell the boy, "If any of your belongings fall into my bag, feel free to grab them, no hesitations." He just nodded and you smiled at him.

About an hour had passed, half of your session over already, and Riki seemed to be in his own world as you moved on to the next topic. You rapped your pencil sharply on his textbook, startling him back to reality. He apologized sheepishly as you chuckled at his behavior. "What about this chapter is confusing you?" you asked, returning your attention to the statistics papers in front of you two.

"Ah... all of it together? I know some individual concepts, but once you put in all these words together, like discrete random variables and the Z-score, I get lost."

"Understandable. Let me get some notes out, I think I have an explanation written somewhere." You rifled through your bag, looking for the probability notes that had come out of your binder. Huffing in frustration, you dug further, unable to find them, when suddenly you felt a warm hand on yours. Looking up in surprise, you see Riki holding your hand in his own. "Is everything alright, Riki?"

He smiled, a bit abashed, and brought your hand up to the table. "You said if anything of mine fell into your bag, to grab it, no hesitations." He laughed as you withdrew your hands from his, bringing them up to your face to hide your embarrassment.

When you collected yourself enough to look at him, you mumbled, "Gosh, Riki, you're such a sleaze," not meaning a word you said.

He feigned confusion, innocently replying, "But I was just getting my things out to study statistics." As you rolled your eyes, he laughed again.

"Go back to your textbook, Riki."

i think it runs deep,, like years on years deep. like he probably saw you sometimes when both of you were trainees and he was like "pretty girl 😵‍💫" and avoided you 😭😭 i dunno how long heeseung and beomgyu have been close but hee def found out pretty quickly, even before iland. beomgyu probably told him about the 'pretty girl with the pretty eyes and pretty smile' and heeseung was like 'ohmygod get UP!!!' (but then he met you and nvm he gets it).

beomgyus crush being common knowledge for hybe idols 😭 it's really only you who doesn't know n everyone teases him about it. he always gets really awkward around you, so every attempt to win you over leaves him with crippling embarrassment and you mildly confused. heeseung gets both sides of the story and finds it highly amusing. the others gossiping about your every interaction 😭

beomgyu bribing heeseung into telling him your favorite drinks and foods. (beomgyu thought hard and long about who to ask but niki, jungwon, sunghoon, and jay scare him and sunoo and jake would simply refuse to tell him. he did also ask kai and taehyun to ask but they laughed at him). heeseung eventually giving in and telling beomgyu. the next time you come across him in the hybe cafe, he shoves a cup in your hand and walks away. in his head it's a victory but you're left just as confused as you always are after interacting with him 😭 he tries
