the show totally shit the bed w their later depiction of bilquis & anansi btw. the production team kicking anansi’s actor to the curb cuz he advocated for himself & the shitty writing of bilquis being ‘saved’ from her ‘lifestyle of debauchery’. like wtf? SHES LITERALLY A SEX GOD. SHE SUBSISTS OFF SEX? THIS IS LIKE A VAMPIRE NOT DRINKING ANY BLOOD? the oshun plotline was ABYSMAL. the darker skinned overtly sexual jezebel being ‘saved’ by a ls benefactor. lot to unpack. there but a LIGHTSKIN OSHUN ALONE is just. LOL! utterly laughable. when i tell u i was zooted barred up drunk af watching n literally guffawed at this high yella waif playing the supreme orisha of water , of desire, of the erotic. ridiculous. camel shit fr. whoever was responsible for that casting decision should be shamed. itd make more sense for yetide badaki to play oshun & just write bilquis out entirely. not to mention odin macking on demeter & the elevated prominence of the ghost of thor & shadow’s ole lady imo was subconsciously motivated by the implicit bias of the team now that show!shadow was mixed race … u can see it in how they didnt have show shadow grow his hair out & put a pack of dog hair on his head in later seasons like ik i aint crazy

Summary: You and Lizzie are meant to be going out on a date but when one of you feels less then great, your plans change.

Being an actor was tough. The long hours and endless reading were just a factor of the job. You loved it though. However, dating was always a struggle, yet you and Lizzie seemed to make it look effortless. Behind the scenes, however, everything wasn't always so smooth.

Both yourself and Lizzie had been wanting to go on a date for months now but neither one of you was able to get time off work at the same time due to your clashing schedules and this could lead to some heated conversations. However, by some miracle, you received a text from your managers saying that you would both be able to take the upcoming Friday off together. Finally. This was just what you needed.

You and Lizzie spent that night planning what you would be doing for your date, after some thinking, the pair of you agreed that you would go to the fancy Italian restaurant that you knew Lizzie loved and then afterwards you would take the short walk to the cocktail bar where you had both first originally met.

The week leading up to your date, you were finding it hard to mask your excitement, as each day passed. When you got home that Thursday night you noticed that Lizzie seemed more tired than usual.

"You ok sweetheart?" You asked, sitting down next to her on your sofa, pulling a small blanket over the two of you.

"Yeah, work was just a little rough today. The propmaster is an asshole." Lizzie replied, cuddling into your side.

You rolled your eyes at the mention of the propmaster. He had been making comments about Lizzie ever since she started working on the production. "Sorry, that happened sweetie, at least we have our date tomorrow." You smiled, looking forward to it.

"I can't wait," She smiled up at you for a moment before she quickly turned her head and stifled a sneeze towards her shoulder, "H'kxxnt!"

She giggled slightly afterwards so you didn't think anything of her sneeze as you blessed her and offered, "Maybe we should head to bed early?"

"That sounds nice actually." You were sure you heard her sniffle

slightly but pushed the thought away as you led her to the bedroom.

You woke up that morning to the sun shining through your window, painting the room in a fresh orange haze. Feeling the bed empty beside you, you called out to your girlfriend.

"Liz?"

No answer. Huh, maybe she was in the kitchen? You slowly pulled yourself out of bed and made your way toward the kitchen. The house was strangely silent, the only sound was that of the birds singing to themselves outside.

When you made it to the kitchen you were slightly taken aback when you saw it was empty. You were about to pull out your phone to call your girlfriend when you noticed a small plate filled with various pastries and a note on top of the countertop. Picking up the note, you read it aloud.

I'm sorry Y/N. My manager rang and he needs me to come in for a few hours, I'll be home in time for our date. I promise. Love Lizzie. PS, I left you some croissants for your breakfast. She signed her note with a smiley face. Despite her kind gesture you couldn't help but feel slightly disheartened at the thought of sitting alone at home all day, but you understood that her work was important so you hastily made yourself a cup of coffee, grabbed a croissant and settled yourself on the sofa, ready for a day of Netflix.

You hadn't realised you fell asleep until the rattle of your front door pulled you from your slumber. Checking your phone, the small digital time read; 17:35. You heard the small clatter of boots against your wooden floor as Lizzie quietly walked into the living room. You tried to keep your face natural as you saw her appearance. Lizzies' makeup was smeared around her watery eyes, her face drained of colour except for a small redness on her cheeks.

"Hey." Her hoarse voice broke the silence as you rushed over to her, taking the bags from her hands.

"Oh my god. Lizzie what's wrong? What happened sweetheart, come here." You led her to the sofa as you put her bags down.

"Work was horrible." She started before quickly bringing her wrist to her nose, sneezing a harsh triple against it, "HhH'eh'tktoo! Hh'eh'cHIEW!.Hh.Hhah'HhCHIEW!"

Oh. You realised immediately why she seemed so fatigued. She was sick. Lizzie only ever sneezed more than twice when she was sick. You would have to deal with this carefully though, there was no way you were taking her out tonight in her condition but there was no way she'd just give in. Watching your words, you hesitantly spoke,

"Bless you sweetie... So, what happened at work then?" You massaged her shoulders gently as she began to tell her story.

When she had finally finished recounting her day, you understood why she looked so tired. The guys working on set design had teamed with her propmaster to pull a rather horrible prank on Lizzie, humiliating her in front of the whole crew. Not only that, filming had gone terribly too. People constantly forgetting their lines and missing their cues would annoy anybody but after hours of this, it becomes infuriating.

"That asshole," You muttered angrily, "You should report him Liz, what he did was cruel!"

Lizzie shook her head slightly, "Its fine, I just wanna forget about it," She glanced up at the clock on the wall, "Do we need to start getting read.. rea-..Hehh..HknnxT!" Lizzies sentence was interrupted as she half-stifled against her wrist, sniffling afterwards.

"Bless you. Lizzie, sweetheart, do you really think it's a good idea to go out, wouldn't you rather stay inside just for tonight?" You asked cautiously, reaching over for the tissue box next to you and placing it on the coffee table in front of you. You knew she would be needing them soon enough; Lizzie’s colds always seem to come on fast and hit her hard. Your thoughts went back to her sniffling the previous night and it finally clicked that it was then when she was getting sick and you had just failed to notice it. Just then Lizzie shifted positions and stared at you.

She gave you a strange look and replied to your earlier question. "What? Why?" She raised her elbow and tried to muffle her cough.

You sighed; this wasn't going to be easy. Her stubbornness could be so irritating sometimes, you were about to make your next argument when the sound of Lizzies breath hitching cut you off.

“H'eh'kichiew!..Hheh..Hehttshoo!..Hhhehtktoo!"

You waited for Lizzie to finish before blessing her, she grabbed a tissue from the box and blew her nose. When she was done you finally said, "Sweetie, you're sick. We can go on a date another time." You reached over to feel her forehead but she abruptly pulled away from you and stood up just before you were able to make contact with her.

"Look. I'm not sick, okay? Just drop it. We've been waiting ages to go out and we finally have the chance to-" She broke off into a fit of rather nasty coughing, resulting in you jumping up to hold her steady, rubbing circles on her back whilst you did so.

It was only a few seconds before she finally soothed but it felt like hours to you, the sound of her harsh coughing breaking your heart. She sounded terrible and it hurt to see her like this. You instructed her to sit back down, not taking no for an answer before quickly going to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.

You handed it to her as you sat back down next to her. "Lizzie, you can't do this. You're going to make yourself really ill if you carry on pushing yourself. Our date night can wait, your health is more important and I want to look after you," You held her hands in your own, keeping eye contact with her. "Please just let me look after you?"

Lizzie sighed; she couldn't fight it any longer. The fatigue she was feeling was almost unbearable. She leant against you and finally gave in, "I guess I do feel kinda bad."

You felt Lizzie cuddle into you before murmuring, “I'm sorry I got sick at the worst time possible.”

You gently ran your fingers through her hair and kissed her temple, “It's not your fault. We’ve both been swarmed with work; it was bound to happen soon. You could do with taking some medicine though if you already feel this bad.”

As you stood up from the sofa, you were about to go and search your cabinets for any form of medicine that you owned, you looked back to the sofa, hearing Lizzie's tired voice calling out to you, “Wait! Don’t go...It’s cold without you”

That did it. You felt a prickle of tears in your eyes as Lizzies words sunk in. All she wanted was to be held close and you promised to come straight back after getting what you needed. Luckily you managed to find a small packet of ‘Cold and Flu’ medicine, this would have to do. Before making your way back to the living room, you quickly ran up to your bedroom and grabbed a set of her fluffy pyjamas along with the duvet from your bed.

You carefully draped the duvet over her and placed her pyjamas on the floor beside the sofa. You reattempted to place your hand back on her forehead, luckily this time she let you and you felt the slight heat radiating from her, “You're warm.” You noted out loud, clicking your tongue.

“Really? I’ve been freezing all day.” Came her confused reply as she cocooned herself within the blanket, only moving over to make room for you.

You placed the medicine next to the tissues and sank into the sofa to hold her close. You weren't going to let anything hurt her, Lizzie was yours. "I know sweetheart. It’ll be your fever making you feel funny." You sympathised, "How about we get changed into something comfy and have a snuggly movie night on the sofa? You have to promise to let me take care of you though.” You kissed her head as she considered your proposition and cuddled further into you.

"You know what, that sounds amazing.”

- if u go to the park, and somebody is like, walking their dog n the animal barks at y’all??? bakugou is barking back. mans full on squares up, n barks at the dog until it backs off

- he rarely gets into shows/series, but when he finds one he likes, he’ll only watch the first few episodes and then make u watch the rest with him. he’ll always say sum “if i dont watch with you, then i gotta make extra time for your needy ass. ‘m prioritizing my fuckin’ time. it doesn’t mean anything, shut up.” ...... he’s lying. it does mean something. it means he wants to share the things he likes with u

- pls he’s so smart, and generally pretty aware, but sometimes he’ll just do something so duMb. like, u kno that thing that happens sometimes with hair?? like, when it sticks to ur fingers and no matter what u do, u can’t get it off?? bakugou is literally breaking his wrist a foot away from u, shaking his hand back and forth and cursing soooo loudly. u just gotta go up to him and gently remove the hair from him like “oh honey- no.”

- peanut gallery comments. lots of them. mans will sit fully dead silent, not talking for the whOle day, but the second u do something embarrassing?? like trip??? suddenly he has a LOT to say ..... smh men

- animals just always like him. its absolutely unexplainable bc he’s so loud n moves super suddenly,,, but the amount of street animals that follow him home is ridiculous. srsly. sometkmes he even has other people’s pets trying to follow him home

- respects absolutely no one n that somehow strangely makes him the most respectful u’ve ever seen??? like- he hates everyone the exact same so u won’t ever catch bakugou in an act of discrimmination

- he can’t draw at all but if u asked him to draw something, it’ll be the same skull every single time. it’s a good skull, but it’s soooo obvious he learned how to draw it from a tutorial in the midst of his emo phase

- will fully make fun of others for baby-talking around their s/o, n then just fully go home n look at you like “tired.” “hungry.” “kiss.”...... like okay baby man, maybe try putting a full sentence together before u start trying to run your mouth. hypocrite.

- probably sleeps like the dead. contrary to popular belief, i absolutely do not believe he’s up at every single noise. man’s could sleep thru an explosion, im sure of it. that being said tho, it’s probably actually hard for him to turn his brain off n fall asleep. he prob goes to bed so “early” bc he has to wind down for a good hr or two until he’s ready to actually sleep

- he’s got a vendetta against salespeople. like, if his phone rings with some bullshit about a product? if somebody, god forbid, tries to walk up to your door? fully frothing at the mouth annoyed. will chew out any employee who’s too underpaid not to listen to him

- eats like an absolute animal. no rlly, its bad. holds his spoon with a fist and digs at his meal like its the gold rush. the worst table manners you’ve ever seen rlly

- he gets sorts antsy if he sits for too long, so he’s always off doing random shit. like, u’ll look out the window n he’s just like, raking the .3 leaves from ur driveway, probably trying to guess where the wind will be so they wont blow back

- ik this with my heart and soul okay,,, bakugou has never had a conversation with u that wasnt from exactly .2 meters away. like,, if he’s comfortable, then he’s just close all the time. like he’s waving his hands around and yelling and you just have to take his face in ur hands and go “im literally right here. ily but pls tone it down for the sake of my hearing.”

- very much guard dog behavior when y’all go out. absolutely will not leave ur side for even a second, like, at a bar or during a concert. even if u go to the bathroom he’s like, leaning against the wall and waiting right outside the door

- gets absolutely bitchy about your phone blowing up while you’re hanging out. its not that he’s suspicious that ur, like, cheating on him, it’s just that he doesnt understand why u’d even leave ur phone on in the first place since he always has his turned off when ur around. if he gets annoyed enough he’ll fully take the phone out of ur hands, say sum “yeah, you don’t fuckin’ need this anymore. you’re done with this.” n toss it across the room while he kisses u senseless

- tbh his ultimate love language is 100% playfighting. v much would go heart eyes if u even seemed like u might try n wrestle him. obvi u dont win, but his favorite is how u laugh while he pins ur hands above ur head

- he sneers at other angry people. will fully, fully sit there like “jesus christ, they need to calm the hell down. annoying as shit- fuckin’ loud too.” ....... -i. who’s gonna tell him

- silent conversations with ur eyes. no rlly. if y’all are with friends and somebody says something questionable, bakugou is immeadiately turning to u, eyes hardly even shifting but u just know he’s hurling insults in his head

- he doesnt realize his own strength sometimes. like- he knows he’s strong, but if u ever open a door n ur like “woah, careful, this is heavier than it looks” bakugou is .2 steps behind u practically ripping the damn thing off it’s hinges. he’ll look at it, huffing like he doesn’f even understand the issue

- he rlly likes when u call him by his name. pet names are fine, but he srsly is super soft for the simple stuff. like when u look over at him, all excited, smile wide like “hey katsuki, u gotta see this! c’mere!”

- his road rage is severe. no rlly. bakugou drives like every day is a race n he’s one win away from going formula one. you’re pretty sure that the only reason he passed his license test is bc the instuctor was too terrified to tell him no

- bakugou probably does that thing where if you’re sitting on the counter top, watching him cook, he’ll stand between ur legs. hands on ur thighs or resting on ur hips while you tell him about your day

- can’t explain this one, but he doesnt kill spiders. he takes them outside. says sum “they eat ticks, idiot. what- you actually want a fuckin’ blood disease? Hah? ‘m not gonna kill it. motherfucker’s gotta earn his keep before dyin’ just like the rest of us.” while he v gently picks the spider up into his hand and walks it outside

- ik that his one cheat food is sugary cereal. like, he’s a health freak, but the one thing he can’t help but make a concession for is sugary cereal on the weekends

- he’ll sometimes get in this over-stimulated mood where everything pisses him off, n the only thing u can do is leave him alone. u learn this quick bc his anger doesn’t discrimminate and if u push him even after he tells u what’s up?? pls bakugou will lash tf out. at u. like, ik y’all like to write it but that whole “it’s okay- it’s just me. just look at me.” thing does not work with him,,, u literally gonna get merc’d if u try

- he’s probably a guy who’s gonna be super big on passing touches. like he drops his hand on ur head when he passes, or bumps his shoulder into urs when he laughs. no footsies tho. too sappy even for him- pls if u tried to initate that he’d crush ur toes under the table aHAHAHA

- feeds every street cat he comes across. is probably super fond of the ones with a bunch of scratches/scars on them. he’d die if u knew, but one time u caught him feeding a scratched up calico n going “bet u beat his stupid ass, right? that’s my girl. we always win, huh?”

It never made much sense - how his family demanded so much, felt entitled to so much, but thought so little of him. His parents, his half-siblings, had always looked at him with doubt. At best. At worst, venom, or a sort of thinly-veiled regret. Or pity. To call him a love-child was insulting. A hubris-child, maybe. Not that his father didn’t love his mother, a second wife, a witch, marrying into South Africa’s most notorious clan of shapeshifters. Oh, no, they loved each other plenty. In the way that the ambitious loved anything that felt like a step up. As for him? Perhaps they’d thought their child would simply be better than your average hybrid, because they were - to their own minds, anyway - better than your average… anyone. But Ricus arrived small and weak, in all the ways the van Delouwes just assumed he shouldn’t be. He didn’t take to magic. Any attempt left him cringing, riddled with aches and pains. Shifting, on the other hand, came too easy. He started early, abruptly. Not that he meant to do it. Why would he? These slip-ups were shameful; Pretoria’s own pride stuck mostly to suits, prowling around a fortune built on all manner of crime and machination. A boy who could turn into a lion in a blink, in the middle of a city and a family schedule packed with galas, openings, and prestigious dinners, was a problem. He couldn’t go to school, like other children. Couldn’t have a nanny, to keep him being a burden around the house. So, every cluster of uncontrolled shifts meant a long, long drive, out to his grandparents’ winery - a property large and isolated enough that the family accident could roam free until he settled into his human skin again. It took decades, but, eventually, Ricus penned that lion of his so far from the sunlight that he could hardly feel it stirring. Even then, though… he wasn’t enough. No matter how hard he worked, or how charming he could be. He was still the leftover child. Until Evi found him. What started as two rich kids cutting loose became - well, that, but something more. Like love, a wild, clinging, astonishingly real kind. Love, and opportunity. They started to get big ideas, the sort that would cause big issues, if anybody in their respective, powerful families found out. Evi was a brilliant witch, see. She could make things, very, very special things. Call it medicine, call it recreation. For Ricus, it was both. And so it would be, for anybody willing to pay. Moving goods like that, in the circles they travelled? Hardly work. They were smart about it, but. Their golden days in South Africa came to a messy end - along with Evi’s brother, and the vicious threats he made when he realized his little sister and her van Delouwe boyfriend were the ones responsible for a mysterious sea change in the Cape’s magical trafficking scene. Ricus didn’t mean it this time, either. But he’d done it. Shifted, and what’s worse, killed, before he could stop himself. For reasons he still can’t fathom, Evi pulled him away, and kept him close. They’d be running, country to country, identity to identity, for years: away from the murder of a prominent, well-connected witch, and the theft of a couple accounts’ worth of cash, a few family jewels for the road. They ran, and they dealt, and they learned, and they did it together - a pride unto themselves.

When they arrived in Lethe, dutifully presenting their newest fake identification to the Council, Evi and Ricus were at the end of their North American rope. This little, quaint, miserable town wasn’t his first or fifteenth choice, in terms of spots to settle. Too small. Too cold. But they’d heard there would be plenty of customers, and, just as important, no real competition. If any. The information was good, and so, despite the rain and snow and grey, grey skies, Lethe’s turned out to be the richest ground they’ve found. Evi’s magic, Ricus’s people-pleasing ways; between the two of them, they’ve turned this clammy little town into their oyster. Now, they’re settled in. Those shelves Ricus beams across are stocked high with ingredients, herbal cures and charms, and other magical odds and sods sourced from the many various ties they’ve made. Some savory, some… not so much. But the product’s good, so. Who’s asking? The weed bar is something to behold, too. What? It’s legal, and you have to move with the times. If the proprietors decide they’d like to be friends, you could even get a private consultation - for a unique blend, or tincture, or just about whatever else you might need. Doesn’t matter what you are, vampire, lich, werewolf, anything - they can mix up a hit you’ll never forget. So the story goes. Only one way to find out if it’s true…

Mysterious amnesiacs thrown up on the cold, stony banks of the Quinault. What are the Riverborn, to Ricus? Vaguely disturbing, but they seem… fine enough. Generally speaking, he couldn’t care less. Specifically, in the case of poor, unfortunate Adam Mallory, he’s downright grateful. Ricus’s ever-incandescent ambition is glowing all the brighter these days; with Mallory’s Sundries falling into disarray, he and Evi have been able to pick up the slack in magical supplying around Lethe. Business is booming, in a big way. Finally, he’s able to give Evi what he always wanted to - more. Anything that catches his eye, really. This is a taste of the life they might have had if things hadn’t gone so wrong. The instability of this Council, here, is most of what keeps Ricus tuned to the news in town. If they decide to crack down on magically enhanced substances, if those Councilmembers decide they want a cut to look the other way, if they hear the wrong whisper about what brought those so-called herbalists to Lethe… if, if, if. Ricus would much prefer the Council become as boring and predictable as possible, sooner than later.

Summary: Reader gets a job on the set of Spider-Man: Far from Home for the 3 weeks they are shooting in New York City as what she thinks is a production assistant, but a twist of fate has her reassigned as Tom Holland’s personal assistant. As she & Tom grow close during filming, will their budding friendship turn to more or will they go their separate ways after filming concludes?

Warnings: Language, but that’s pretty much it? This is basically a PG-13 rom-com. (Legal) alcohol use as well but since it’s legal do I really need to tag it?

Word Count: 2114 for chapter 8.

Author’s Note: As this was written WAY before Spider-Man: Far from Home was released (actually before Avengers: Endgame was as well) I’ve kept plot details and which scene was being shot on what day extremely vague. Also, I’m American but tried to write Tom as British as possible, although I do think he’d try to stay(ish) in character and use as much American slang as he could while he’s still playing Peter.

After dinner, they walked down the street to the club. “Order me another beer when our server comes back?” Tom asked Harrison.

“Sure thing, mate. Y/N?”

“Yeah, actually.” Y/N told Harrison what she wanted to drink as she and Tom stood.

Tom led her to the dance floor, where one song had just ended and another song had begun.

“Me too,” Tom replied with a soft smile.

Y/N's fingers brushed Tom's as she reached for her belongings, setting off that same spark that she had felt earlier that evening. She leaned in and placed a soft kiss on Tom's cheek before turning towards her door.

Suddenly Tom grabbed her hand. “Y/N, wait.”

Y/N glanced back at him in surprise.
