love and deepspace: what is it and is it worth getting? i keep seeing people post about it and I'm a little curious

part of me wants to tell you to run, but the other parts of me want you to experience the joy so ill give you a little pros and cons list — THIS IS REALLY LONG, but detailed and i included pics!

love and deepspace, on the most basic level, is a chinese sci-fi romance game where you date very handsome male characters and go on “adventures” with them. you can play the game in english, mandarin, simplified chinese or japanese— i currently play in english but im thinking about switching to the jp dub bc it sounds reallllyyyy good!

there are 5 love interests: zayne (doctor and my husband), xavier (monster hunter just like the mc), rafayel (artist and secret other thing that i wont spoil), sylus (leader of onychinus my fucking man 😭) and caleb (ummm, childhood friend and ill leave it at that)

here’s a fairly accurate description i got from twt the other day. in order from left to right we have: xavier, rafayel, caleb, sylus & zayne… it seems yandere-ish…. and it lowkey is, but it doesn’t feel like that when playing the game LOL

the game has got some really pretty graphics, interactive storytelling, and even some action/fighting/combat parts so it’s not just 100% romance. you can text, call, and go on dates with the characters, so it’s kinda like a mix of a dating sim and an rpg. (practically an otome game if you’re into that.) ALSO there’s a SHIT load of angst and lore so if you love a good fanfic, you might fw the game!! but there are a lot of thing that make up for the angst. ��‍↕️

the game’s biggest aspects are the story and the dating cards. there are 3 star cards (basically useless), 4 stars (which i loveeee bc you’ll get cute interactions and to unlock story moments) and 5 stars (the best). 5-star cards in l&ds are the rarest and best ones you can get. they have the prettiest artwork, the best stats for battles, and exclusive interactions with the love interests. since it’s a gacha game, you have to be lucky (or spend in-game currency) to pull them. basically, they’re what everyone wants because they give the most special moments in the game. here’s what they look like!

PROS:

- the guys are sexy and bangable /srs

- it makes me and a lot of other people really happy… like not to be cringe but talking to them genuinely makes my day better

- ITS GENERALLY FUN! you can fight wanderers (what the monsters are called), play cards or the claw machine, take pics of ur mc and love interest, or just listen to them talk!

- it’s a GORGEOUS game. the developers worked really hard and you can tell

- great stories, like nobel peace prize winning, gut wrenching stories (zayne)

- the 5 star cards and the banners are always so fucking good. especially this last one!!

CONS:

- will make you hate irl men probably

- STORAGE OMFG 😭 the app is HUGE

- it’s really hard to get the things you want if you’re playing for free which is why im lowkey telling you to run…

- the gacha system for cards will make u want to die

- really hard to binge once you finish all the stories and story updates are really effing slow (not complaining but…)

- upgrading cards takes a lot of resources and you have to grind A LOT to progress in the game that includes raising affinity levels for love interests (raising affinity unlocks new texts, calls, video calls from your LI)

- also the game hasnt done re-runs of any old cards, so if you start playing now, you wont have access to any of the cards from previous events which i effing HATE. bc i started playing 3 months after the game first dropped and i missed 3 banners 💔

- it’s hard to get all love interests if you’re playing for free 🥲 pick your top two and wish for the best

oh its good that its not the bad type of rain, a light sprinkling can be relaxing sometimes. aww thx darl, the concern is appreciated but it went pretty well and i managed not to cough too much on stage or kill myself trying to run around to the other side of the stage in the pouring rain so thats good! oooh tea buddies! my dogs a labradoodle, but shes a bit more of a feral poodle lol not much labrador in her at all, unless its her relentless urge to hunt down every bird that has ever walked this earth smh :((( hopefully they can come back on soon, does uni have dances?

i could talk about god's menu felix for hours man. the teaser for god's menu that featured his part on the bridge made me look forward to the mv release. you: biases chan, also you: lixiesbabyhands. yes you are more whipped than you think. i can't believe orange haired minho was given NOTHING during that era but they kind of made up for it in the b-sides. i also hope it stays that way. the distribution for this era was pretty fair.

"torturing another poor character's soul" in all honesty, i used to live for this. 2017 me leading up to early 2020 wrote nothing but angst. i have another aussie friend on twt and tbh i'm still really (O.o) about the seasons! jyp should be terrified skz could easily take over that company. heck if skz grow old and start their own company, they'd probably do a great job at running it.
