Hyderabad's Rise as a Thriving Tech Hub under Nara Chandrababu Naidu Leadership
Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana state, has emerged as a major tech hub in India in recent years. This growth is largely attributed to the leadership of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu. N. Chandrababu Naidu, who served as Chief Minister, was instrumental in transforming Hyderabad into a thriving IT hub.
One of the key achievements of TDP in Hyderabad's growth as a tech hub was the proactive approach towards the IT sector. N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has always been an advocate for technology and innovation, recognised the potential of the IT industry and took several steps to encourage its growth. The TDP government which is in ruler at that time offered several incentives, such as tax breaks and subsidies, to attract IT companies to set up their operations in Hyderabad. For more info about the achievements of Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the Latest news of TDP visit TDP official website.
Another factor that TDP contributes to Hyderabad's growth as a tech hub is the availability of a skilled workforce. The city has a large pool of talented engineers and computer science graduates from prestigious institutes such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). Nara Chandrababu Naidu recognized the importance of a skilled workforce and initiated several initiatives to improve the quality of education in the state. The government collaborated with several universities to establish new engineering and technology colleges and also set up skill development centres to train the youth in new-age technologies.
The establishment of the Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy City (HITEC) played a crucial role in attracting IT companies to the city. HITEC is a state-of-the-art technology park that provides world-class infrastructure and facilities to IT companies. Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu was instrumental in developing HITEC, which has now become the hub of the city's IT industry. Several leading IT companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have set up their offices in HITEC.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu also recognized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving the growth of the IT sector. He initiated several programs to encourage startups and entrepreneurship in the state. The government launched the Innovation and Startup Policy in 2014, which provided various incentives and support to startups and entrepreneurs. The policy also led to the establishment of T-Hub, a startup incubator that has now become one of the largest startup incubators in the world.
Mr Chandrababu Naidu also leveraged technology to improve the governance and services provided by the government. The government launched several digital initiatives such as Mee Seva, a citizen service portal that provides various government services online, and e-Pragati, an integrated governance platform that provides various government services on a single platform. These initiatives not only improved the efficiency and transparency of government services but also created new opportunities for IT companies to provide technology solutions to the government.
In summary, Hyderabad's rise as a tech hub can be attributed to the visionary leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu. His proactive approach towards the IT sector, focus on skill development, the establishment of HITEC, promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship, and leveraging technology for governance have all contributed to the growth of the city's IT industry. Today, Hyderabad is home to several leading IT companies and has become a symbol of India's growing prowess in the technology sector.

NEW BEGINNINGS
Unlike most exhibits about architecture MoMA's The Project of Independence, that looks at postcolonial work in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, focuses on the buildings themselves. This is fitting because this architecture is shaped by need more than ideology or aesthetics. Structural engineers are the real stars. There are more works here credited to reknown practitioner Rajendra Raj than any single architect.
For the most part the exhibit steers clear of exoticism, though there's a looping video that fills the gallery with tinkling ragas. And the space is painted a muddy grey and underlit, with its windows curtained off. These are design choices that diminish the modern spirit at work, and diminish the life-giving force of the sun. A few projects feel hopelessly romantic, expanding vernacular types to serve institutional needs. The results -- a bloated bungalow housing a Montessori school, a block-sized timber shed serving as a corporate office -- would best have been omitted.
Almost all the works employ masonry, specifically mud-brick and concrete, which are labor-intensive and require little or no steel. And many employ complex, fractile-like repetitive geometries. This is, for the most part, a modular architecture built up to serve a huge population. A pen and ink plan of the IIT campus at Kanpur (by Achyut Kanvinde from 1959-66) is so complexly configured that it looks like a circuit diagram, and so immense that it makes its own ground.
The style of the times, brutalism, serves India well. The buildings' heavy concrete masses collect heat and insulate. Their forms are limited in height and span but extraordinarily expressive sculpturally and open to air and views. Those whose geometries veer from the strictly orthogonal required acrobatic and often thrilling engineering. A super-scaled outdoor shed (Raj Rewal's Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 1970), built with narrow concrete members rather than steel posts, seems gleefully baroque. Another, a bundle of tapered cones built from thin concrete plates (Charles Correa's Hindustan Lever Pavilion in New Delhi from 1961) prefigures the eccentric parametric geometries of late-career Frank Gehry.
Who would even try to build these rich, unwieldy forms in concrete? Countries with ambitious engineers, abundant physical labor, and big dreams. At a time when the South Asian democracies, like those in the west, are weathering regressive political movements, the ingenuity and optimism here is a balm.
