⠀⠀⠀⠀. . .⠀⠀⠀⠀ away games happened to be his least favorite — mostly because the crowds weren’t the same. nothing beat playing at home and hearing the home team cheer for him.. yet playing in boston , the place he watched his father play , was a close second to playing at home. however , it wasn’t everyday he found himself captivated by a beautiful woman sporting the other team’s jersey : even if they were playing an away game. sure , his eyes were following the pucks and his teammates as they skated around the ice for warmups , yet his eyes kept getting drawn to her.. the beautiful blond standing at the glass , surrounded by her friends , red nowhere to be found on her jersey. he couldn’t focus , couldn’t connect the passes , purposely skating past her every so often so he could see her up close. perhaps he was being obvious , his teammates chirping him every time he turned to look at her , a light smirk on his face as he admired her , before he skated off towards the bench. grabbing a puck and a sharpie , oakley wrote his name and phone number down quickly before skating over to her tapping the glass with his stick to get her attention.

⠀⠀⠀⠀. . .⠀⠀⠀⠀ great player.. or bust? that's what everyone wanted to know , what everyone was talking about the second that he was drafted to the devils first overall pick. would he live up to his father’s reputation , or would he ultimately sink under the pressure. it was custom for rookies to be housed with a veteran of the team , to give them a chance to form a bond , so they can become custom to the team and the pressures. and that’s exactly what oakley got. with training camp underway the season starting in a week , he was housed with a veteran : wesley clemonte. and yet at first , it was awkward. ❝ do you think they’ll make me do a rookie lap? i heard a few guys mention that they want to out me.. ❞ his eyes find his teammate .. well now roomate sitting on the couch next to him , the tv sporting a football game that was just background noise now.

⠀⠀⠀⠀. . .⠀⠀⠀⠀ watching her reaction, oakley knows that if her reaction was like this, their parents’ would be much, much worse. 〝 i’m dropping out of school, 〞 he says softly, looking down at his hands before looking back up. 〝 this is my last semester at briar.. and then i entered the draft, i’m projected to be picked first, blake. this is my dream. 〞

@direodes. blake's eyes grow wide at her brother's words. ❝ you did what now? ❞ she'll support him through anything, of course, but that doesn't mean she's not shocked.

⠀⠀⠀⠀. . .⠀⠀⠀⠀ the small part of him hoped he was drafted by boston, his hometown, a place he was familiar. yet the larger part of him wanted to branch away from his fathers shadow, from his father’s legacy and name. moving to new jersey was his chance to be different, his chance to make a name for himself, yet being thrown into a veterans care almost felt like he was being babied again.. even if said veteran didn't necessarily want him there. 〝 i'm not going to fall onto my face.. 〞 he scoffs before the notion crosses his mind and he freezes. what if he did? 〝 well.. he did, but he said this part wasn't necessarily something every team did. but the guys were saying they were gonna make me do it anyway. 〞 oakley turns to face him, eyebrows raised just a smidge. 〝 i'm assuming you're part of the crowd who wants me to do it? 〞

a  punishment  instilled  by  management  caused  them  one  too  many  scandals.  his  penthouse  had  multiple  extra  rooms,  housing  the  rookie  wasn't  an  insure  -  wes  simply  doesn't  have  a  caring  bone  in  his  body.  if  he  lived  with  someone  he  couldn't  just  bring  random  women  home,  at  least  that  is  what  he  assumes  their  reasoning  had  been  -  now  he  cares  more  about  corrupting  the  young  rookie.       ❝ it  is  mandatory,  ❞        chocolate  hues  glued  to  the  football  match,       ❝ just  try  and  not  fall  on  your  face,  that  would  be  embarrassing,  ❞        reaching  for  the  remote  to  turn  down  the  volume.       ❝ why  haven't  your  dad  prepared  you  for  all  of  this?  ❞
