When do the guys know or notice that will liked lisi
omg so as I said Lisi has been in world juniors twice now (i'm making where men's and women's wj are at the same time) and so has Will.
Lisi has some CRAZY stats and she's pretty well known bc of her dad. anyways during training for the 22' season the guys and girls have a workout day together and Lisi knocked out like 45 pull ups like it was light work and the boys just watch Will ENAMORED lmaoo.
But I'd say the guys really know when all throughout the juniors Will is like hyper focused on the girls games and Ryan caught Will looking at Lisi's stats for her high school and IIHF U18 bahaha.
bro was hung up after seeing how badass she is.

Hey!! I know you might be busy, happy holidays new year etc, but I just wanted to share hoe excited I was for women's world juniors!!! I know a few girls on the us team, and I just wanted to put a message out there to one of my favorite hockey blogs and say that people should watch the women's teams to!! they are genuinely crazy talented and I know some people who would be v happy if I told them that my friends were watching and supporting them
Women's U18's start the day after Men's U20's end! Make sure if you have the IIHF app that you switch events as soon as the men's tournament ends!
And stop what no way am I one of the faves please 😭

By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – New York Rangers General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the club has assigned forward Adam Sýkora to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack from HK Nitra of the Slovak Extraliga. Meanwhile, Rangers Assistant General Manager and Wolf Pack General Manager Ryan Martin announced that the club has agreed to an amateur tryout (ATO) with forward Bryce McConnell-Barker. In addition, the Wolf Pack has loaned forward Cristiano DiGiacinto to the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen. Sýkora, 18, appeared in 38 games with HK Nitra of the Slovak Extraliga this season, scoring 21 points (8 g, 13 a). His 21 points were good for third overall in scoring on the club, while his 13 assists tied him for second in that category. Over the course of three seasons with HK Nitra, Sýkora appeared in 99 career games and scored 40 points (18 g, 22 a). He has also represented his native Slovakia at the IIHF U18 World Junior Championship, IIHF U20 World Junior Championship, and IIHF Men’s World Championship. He scored three points (2 g, 1 a) in six games at the 2022 Men’s World Championship and was named a ‘Top Three Player’ for Team Slovakia at the 2023 World Junior Championship. The native of Piestany, Slovakia, was selected by the Rangers in the second round, 63rd overall, of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Rangers on July 15th, 2022. McConnell-Barker, 18, appeared in 68 games with the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds this season. He finished the 2022-23 OHL season with 77 points (30 g, 47 a). His 47 assists and 77 points led the Greyhounds, while his 30 goals were second on the club. Serving as captain of the club, McConnell-Barker was named the OHL’s ‘Player of the Week’ for the week ending January 8th after he recorded eight points (4 g, 4 a) in three contests. Over the course of two seasons with the Greyhounds, McConnell-Barker has scored 126 points (53 g, 73 a) in 136 games. He was named the club’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ after scoring 49 points (23 g, 26 a) in 68 games during the 2021-22 campaign. Current Wolf Pack Assistant Coach Jamie Tardif served in the same role with the Greyhounds during McConnell-Barker’s rookie season. The native of London, Ontario, was selected by the Rangers in the third round, 97th overall, of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Rangers on March 23rd. IIHF bans Russia and Belarus tournaments 'until further notice'; Russia dropped as 2023 world junior hosts
The International Ice Hockey Federation banned Russia and Belarus from tournaments "until further notice" on Monday in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia will also no longer host the 2023 World Junior Championship, set to begin in December. A new host will be determined in the coming months.
The suspension applies to Russian and Belarusian national teams and clubs in every age category at IIHF competitions, the federation said. The IIHF noted six competitions between March and September in which the moratorium will apply:
Read More >> U20 Ice Hockey stream free
2022 Men's World Championship (May): ROC and Belarus would not participate
2022 Women's World Championship (August-September): ROC would not participate
2022 World Junior Championship (dates TBA): Russia's U20 team would not participate
2022 Men's U18 World Championship (April-May): Russia and Belarus' U18 teams would not participate
2022 Women's U18 World Championship (dates TBA): Russia's U18 team would not participate
2022 Continental Cup (March): Belarus club team HK Gomel would not participate
The IIHF did not announce a cutoff date for the countries to be reinstated. Russia is slated to host the 2023 Men's World Championship, which begins May 5, 2023, in St. Petersburg. The IIHF did not announce a change to that tournament on Monday. SKA St. Petersburg is building a 21,500-capacity arena with a planned opening in time for the tournament.
“The IIHF is not a political entity and cannot influence the decisions being taken over the war in Ukraine,” IIHF president Luc Tardif said in a statement. “We nevertheless have a duty of care to all of our members and participants and must therefore do all we can to ensure that we are able to operate our events in a safe environment for all teams taking part in the IIHF World Championship program.”
“We were incredibly shocked to see the images that have come out of Ukraine. I have been in close contact with members of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine and we hope for all Ukrainians that this conflict can be resolved in a peaceful way and without the need for further violence.”
The invasion has led to reactions from members of the hockey community, including Wayne Gretzky, who called for Russia to be removed from this summer's rescheduled World Junior Championship tournament in Alberta while on-air with TNT.
"I think international hockey should say we’re not going to let them play in the world junior hockey tournament," Gretzky said. "I think we got to, as Canadians, take that stance since the games are going to be played in Edmonton."
USA Hockey released a statement in support of the IIHF's decision. "The actions of Vladimir Putin and the support from Belarusian government officials, are beyond reprehensible," the federation said.
Hockey Canada released a statement supporting the IIHF's decision. It also is prohibiting Russia's participation in events held in Canada that do not fall under the IIHF's jurisdiction, including the Hlinka Gretzky Cup scheduled for Alberta this upcoming summer. “While this is a humanitarian crisis that goes beyond sports, we also stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian hockey family and all those impacted around the world,” the federation said.
Other sporting federations have already imposed sanctions on Russian teams. FIFA suspended Russia from competing in international games until further notice. UEFA also moved the Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris and suspended Russian club Spartak Moscow from European competition. The governing bodies of skiing and Formula One pulled upcoming races from Russia.
The International Olympic Committee requested sports federations not invite Russian or Belarusian athletes and officials to participate in international competition, and to cancel or move all events planned to take place in Russia or Belarus.

Matty Beniers, #10:
from hingham, mass

played at the ntdp before coming to umich.

Owen Power, #22:
from mississauga, ontario
born november 22nd 2002
played for the chicago steel in the ushl before coming to umich
in the 2019-20 season he was the USHL defenseman of the year and he led the league's defensemen in scoring with 40 points. he was named to the ushl first-team all-star, the ushl All-Rookie Team in 2018-19 with 28 points in 58 games.
"kid canada," youngest player to ever play for canada at the world championships
at 6'5, 214 lb he is, as tsn like to say "a big boy"
was a preseason all-big ten honourable mention, was fourth in the big ten in defenseman scoring, seventh in the big ten in freshman scoring, 2nd in the nation in freshman defenseman points per game and had a three-point (2 goals) game in his collegiate debut (as a defenceman).
was on the all-big ten second team, was a unanimous selection on the big ten all-freshman team, was a finalist for big ten freshmen of the year, was nominated for the hobey baker, was college hockey news rookie of the year, and was on the college hockey news all-rookie team

was supposed to go to the ojhl but chose to go play in the ushl when the steel drafted him
takes his chicken wings with barbecue and nothing else
prefer doing school online
the first thing he wants to do next season is watch a football game at the big house
his favourite player to watch right is victor hedman (he also thinks that hedman is the best defenceman in the world rn)
had a rink in his backyard and that's how he fell in love with hockey
he would pretend to be crosby while on that backyard rink (owen arent you supposed to be a defenceman lmao)
not a big tv/movie guy, he mostly just watch's sports during his downtime (why am i not surprised)
he like to golf but is "not very good" (his handicap is a 10 which is appenrently good so)
if he weren't a hockey player he would be a lacross player
lebron is the athlete he dislikes the most
he doesn't say (chirp) much on the ice (once again i am not surprised lmao)
if matty and him got the chance to play each other at worlds (they didn't cause matty was scratched the first time and injured the 2nd) someone would have gotten whacked in the leg/foot but nobody would have really said anything
basically Michigan could very easily have 2 players picked in the top 5 and 3 players picked in the top 10. and if you haven't realised how special that class is, they also have thomas bordeleau and brendan brisson in it, which means that they're soon gonna have 4 first rounders in one class, and 6 nhl draft picks. (for context a lot of teams don't even have 6 drafted players on the entire roster)

Today I’m sharing Lindsay Gibbs’ piece on the jarring difference in junior men and women’s championship coverage.
On December 26, 2019, two IIHF world junior championship tournaments kicked off — the men’s version, the IIHF World U20 Championship, was played in the Czech Republic, while the IIHF World Women’s U18 World Championship, took place in Slovakia. But while the events were similar in name and significance, when it came to broadcast investment, the two events could not have been more different.
Every single game of the men’s tournament was given the bells-and-whistles broadcast treatment from TSN, a Canadian sports network that showed all the games live with the full backing of a top-end broadcast crew. Meanwhile, during the first few days of the women’s tournament, the games were streamed on a security camera whose footage was so bad, it might not even be admissible in court.
The saddest part of all of this? None of it is really surprising. The trolls like to come out in full force any time we complain about the lack of coverage or support for women’s sports, and claim, “No one cares.” That’s wrong, of course. But it’s also worth noting that caring is not a prerequisite for investment in men’s sports. The investment comes first.
And there was a silver lining. Nearly 11,000 people tuned in to the shoddy stream to watch the final. There is an audience for women’s hockey, and they are dedicated. But both the audience — and, more importantly, the athletes themselves — deserve far better.

reminder for folks watching world juniors: the iihf has canceled all men's world championships below the top division (u18, u20, senior) and all women's world championships except for the top division senior tournament for "player and staff safety." by allowing the men's top division world junior championship to be held right now, one of two things must be true:
1. there actually was a way to safely hold the other tournaments but the iihf didn’t care enough to put in any effort for tournaments that don't turn a great profit (a great follow up to the doorbell cam debacle of the 2020 women's world u18 championship)
OR
2. there actually isn’t a safe way to hold an international tournament right now and the iihf is willing to risk the lives of a huge number of people as long as it profits the iihf
both of these options reflect how little of a fuck the iihf gives about anything that isn’t the iihf making money – they're really the worst and an embarrassment to the game. i'm begging y'all to watch the games illegally. don't let the iihf make more money by acting without a care for athletes and others involved in the world championship while simultaneously flipping off the women's game and all of the players from places where hockey isn't entrenched (ie. where it is GROWING)

The IIHF canceling the U18 Women’s World Hockey Championship for the second year in a row today while the men’s U18 and the men’s World Juniors get to once again go ahead without issue despite facing the same COVID health and safety concerns is absolutely fucking unacceptable. It makes it clear to everyone that this governing body of hockey blatantly value’s its male athletes over its female athletes. The immediate jump to cancellation rather than finding a safe solution or even rescheduling/postponing so these female athletes can still compete after working so hard to reach this point is disheartening and I’m so tired of people valuing men’s sports over women’s.
The IIHF does not care about women’s hockey and this right here is a prime example of how we all know that’s true.
