thinking about how charles darwin hated marine iguanas so much he called them “imps of darkness”. just getting seethingly mad over a bunch of lizards who were just sitting there.
I bet he was just jealous he wasn’t this comfy

[ID: an illustration of a green iguana facing to the left, laying on a log, surrounded by various plants and pebbles. The background is a mottled teal. End.]
Green iguana! Big old arboreal lizard, native to Central and South America. Very common and considered invasive in Puerto Rico and parts of the American South, especially Florida, where it was introduced in the 60s, but in danger of extirpation in parts of its native range.

#13 - What if Minecraft had Iguanas?
Iguanas can be found resting on the canopies of Jungle biomes, lazing in the sunlight happily. They are neutral mobs, only attacking the player if provoked, and are otherwise friendly.
Iguanas in real life eat Leaves & Vines, and both can be fed to Iguanas to tame them. They can be tough to tame, but very worth it. Like parrots, iguanas will sit on the player's shoulder. When the player attacks an enemy or is attacked, the Iguana will leap off and attempt to whip the enemy with its long tail. This whip attack is slow, but can deal a lot of damage, especially if you have multiple Iguanas attacking in unison. It also deals a substantial amount of knockback, helping with crowd control.
Iguanas have as much HP as Wolves, but unlike them cannot wear armor. However, when an Iguana reaches 0 HP, its tail will pop off and the Iguana will regain all of its HP and retreat, like a built-in Totem of Undying. Any mob attacking it will be spooked and immediately cease aggro on the Iguana. Because of this, it's very rare that Iguanas will die to enemies. Iguanas will regrow their tails over the course of 3 in-game days, but will be unable to attack in the meantime.
Iguanas can be bred with Fruit (like, for example, Apples) and baby Iguanas are even more adorable. The next time you're planning to fight a boss, raid, or a trial chamber, maybe think about bringing your favorite whiptails to help out!
(also, don't be afraid to check out the rest of my blog for more of my minecraft mobs & my other art! I'm cool I promise :P)
