Hello! I’m Reed.Today is Day 1 of IG Quilt Fest and it’s all about introductions. You can see that I like to play with photo apps. I am a quilt designer from Florida and my company is Blue Bear Quilts. I was an attorney for 35 years before becoming a quilt designer. I have been quilting for over 20 years. I primarily design modern traditional quilt patterns. I have bee designing more patterns with appliqué lately and really enjoying it. My first fabric line with QT Fabrics, called Coco Chic, should be arriving in shops any day now. I look forward to sharing things with you this month and seeing what you all have to share. Hello! I'm Aimee and I decided to join in on the #igquiltfest2021 and today is introductions. I grew up around my grandmother who was a prolific quilter and seamstress. She had a quadplex next to her house and both units upstairs were for sewing. I learned the basics from her and made my first quilt when I was a newlywed at 20 yrs old (I'll be turning 45 in May). We were young and penniless. I made that quilt using our old worn out clothing. Mostly flannel shirts, pajamas, underwear, shirts, and jeans. I made it with an old holey blanket for the batting. It wasn't anything pretty, but it kept us warm in the winter. I quilted off and on over the years and came to a complete stop a few years back as I was most interested in apparel sewing. Now my closet is unable to hold any more clothes and I've got the quilting bug once again.
