“Think!” by the late #DrLonnieSmith was recorded on July 23, 1968, at the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey featuring Smith on organ, #LeeMorgan on trumpet, #DavidNewman on tenor and flute, #HermanHenry and #MelvinSparks on guitar, #PunchoBrown on percussions and #MelvinBooker on drums. This was his second album for @BlueNoteRecords. The strange thing about hearing of his passing last night I was listening to “The Tennessee Waltz” by #LouDonaldson the other day and scrambled to see how many tunes had Doc played on Lou’s “Pretty Things” and found out it was just that piece and thought I need to get more of his music on vinyl into my collection. I have several of his CDs, but very few on vinyl. This reissue is from the #BlueNoteRecords 80th Anniversary/Classic Series which sounds so sweet. I love this album mainly because Lee Morgan is on it and my favorite tune of this session is the title song which was made famous by the late great #ArethaFranklin, but I also enjoy the Latin flavored tune “The Call of the Wild”. This is an enjoyable session, probably not his best, but very enjoyable. Rest In Peace Doc! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 . . . . . #Jazzrecords #JazzAlbum #classicjazz #jazzvinyl #Jazz #jazzjunkie #igvinylclub #igjazzvinyl #JazzRecordCollector #JazzVinylCollector #VinylJazz #CrateDigging #Vinyldigging #JazzRecordCollection #OnMyTurtable #MusicaJazz #JazzMan #IgJazzCollector #3rdStreetJazz #JazzLife https://www.instagram.com/p/CUaBfEXgO_o/?utm_medium=tumblr
